2023.05.28 09:28 eap9903 how to apply for a job at 16 (read for details)

before I begin I would like to state that I’m looking for advice and help. I’m not too sure how/what I’m exactly doing or expecting. I 16 and my at home life has been bumpy recently. one of my parents is a SAH parent as the other recently lost their job (they got a job now after 9 months of unemployment however it’s a low paying job). We have been very fortunate to have help from everyone around us, and haven’t delt with any hardship money issues. recently our rent got raised, and keep in mind the current working parent isn’t making enough to support all the bills, incomes, and expenses of everything. I fortunately am a varsity cheerleader, and joined the team last year before any job issues within the household or any financial struggles. I’m not a greedy teenager, and usually only use money when it’s birthday money or holiday money. I also do not ask my parents for much in money terms. I do not have my license and won’t for a few months, so gas for me isn’t an issue as we have help with things such as. however, this year cheer is going up for money wise. recently an email got sent out for cheer finances for this coming school year, we have stunting classes 3-4 weekly and it’s $25 per week. this may not seem like a lot to many, however, these classes will go on until December, being about 27 weeks and $500 for just stunting classes, on top of the uniform, camp, and other activities- rounding up to about 2,000 I want to say. I know that we are in a financially touch situation, and that cheer isn’t a top priority. we have to pay the stunting classes weekly however, and the rest of the cheer bill comes out at the end of the season (march/April). yet again I would like to state I’m not a greedy teenager, and I know money is a huge issue right now for us in our current circumstances. I also know that 25 weekly for 27 weeks is a lot, and it isn’t solvable with only 1 source of income in the household. my parents do other systems go get income, but it’s not consistent. and my other parent is having difficulty finding a job as they’re the SAH and have the responsibility of taking me and my siblings to school and home (at least until I get my license and can take us home). I feel like I might be sharing too much personal information out into the internet, but I just need advice. there’s a really cute little place a few blocks from where we live (I will not disclose what it’s called for safety purposes) but it’s somewhat of a coffee shop, my friend started working there a few weeks back. needless to say, having a friend working there would make me feel even more comfortable. I have no idea how to set up an interview or ask about applying however, and need genuine advice on how to do so. I’ve tried applying for babysitting jobs on facebook, I’ve tried multiple things, my schedule was super busy during school due to cheer involvement as well, so since it’s summer I feel I’ll have an easier route to a job. I have no background experiences, and don’t even know where to begin. needless to say, I know we’re in a hardship, and finding a job for myself doesn’t sound to bad anyways considering it’s summer. any advice on where to begin or what to do? thank you!

2023.05.28 09:28 TeachingDense1278 WFH Job Leads please

I'm John (Filipino) and I was recently terminated from my last job as a sales representative of a BPO company. I need to list the skills I have learned through those 11months in that last company but with that record, I have been declined by a handful of hiring companies due to my termination (I slept in the middle of the shift because I have been lacking sleep for working the 2$/hour WFH Job, no complaints), I just burned out...
I am hanging on, but I am running out of options and leads on where to look for jobs that can help me support myself through college.
Can anyone please help me find a VA Job so that I can continue going to school in the morning and work atleast part time in the evening... maybe land a 5$ per hour WFH job part time so that I can still have ample of sleep for school in the morning...

2023.05.28 09:24 Street_River_9628 Found out my (18M) prom date (18F) might have a bf

So my prom is coming up in just under 2 weeks, and I (18M) already asked out one of my female friends (18F) over a month ago since tickets went on sale pretty early at my school. She was super open to going to prom with me (I actually almost went with her last year too), and we both agreed we’d be going as friends. Now while we both live in the same town, we go to different schools, so I had to buy her tickets to my prom, and even though her prom isn’t until a few weeks after mine, she told me she was going to give her extra ticket to her (female) junior friend who brought her to their school’s junior prom a few weeks ago. (Ftr, they’re practically besties and on the same sports teams so I never found this weird.) I discussed “going” with her to that prom too by getting one of my guy friends at her school to buy me a ticket letting me meet her there, and she didn’t object to it.
I thought things were going great until we were looking at some of her recent insta posts and she told me to scroll past a photo of her with another guy, and she just said told me he was “her thing.”
While I can say we’ve only been friends, I feel like she’s been sending me mixed signals for a bit: after I asked her to prom she started replying to some of my texts with “🥰🥰🥰”, she started saying we should “hang out more” before we go to prom, and she even suggested the idea of a movie night at my house that sounded like would just be the two of us. I will admit I’m not the most experienced at reading signals, but my friends said “she was obviously trying to get with me” when they saw some notifications I got from her. I admit that I do have feelings for her, especially now, and I while I don’t think she knows it, I don’t think it would be the best idea for me to tell her now given the situation.
Can I ask her if any of this changes things?

2023.05.28 09:23 Vivid-Particular-460 I don't like people but I don't want that to stop me from enjoying life

I'm not really human. There are a couple of things I've lived through that make me totally unrelatable. People are either confounded by me or see me as easy prey. Honestly, socializing is a form of self-harm for me at this point, like some drug. I crave it but it always makes me feel bad. Maybe I'll catch a temporary high but more than likely I'll just be drained of life and have my own alienness thrown in my face.
But I like nature, I like animals, I like art and learning and writing and playing guitar. I like going camping and taking road trips. I like eating at nice restaurants and browsing bookstores and going to the movie theater.
I don't need other people to experience these things. I keep waiting for other people to be kind, or to understand, or to just validate that I'm allowed to live. But they're not gonna do that - this world is traumatizing, and I'm an orphan in it. So I just wanna have fun while I'm here, even if it's by myself. I don't want anyone's treatment of me to stop me from experiencing the world, because it's made of so much more than humans.

2023.05.28 09:20 KDMKat My friends unintentionally make me feel really bad about myself

I’m not the best looking person. I’ve been told all my life I’m a solid 7 or 8 because I have an okay face I guess. I feel like people are just being nice.
I’m squishy, not obese but I have gained a little weight since I got married last year and I’m not toned.
I haven’t liked photos of myself for a long time. I was bullied a lot growing up, getting called fat and ugly, and I would always compare my photos and likes to other people and would equate that to my worth.
Fast forward to now it means I avoid taking photos, I don’t hardly if ever post anything with myself/face in it, and I generally have a lot of anxiety about posting photos myself because I’m scared of being judged for posting things even though I’m “ugly”. I know, no one is actually saying any of these things to me…
Well anyway I made some friends the last few years and they’re very very beautiful people, inside and out. One of them does modeling and photography. Very beautiful pictures. They take pictures together constantly. I’ve been out with them a few times and was hoping that since they take so many pictures that I could start feeling more comfortable. I generally like pictures other people take of/with me but feel silly when I ask for pictures and I overthink it.
The first few times I was with them they’d take selfies together and not try to get me in them. I’m sure they assume I don’t like pictures because I don’t take many. I admit my fault in this too because when asked about never posting I do say I’m just bad about taking pictures.
We went camping together a few months ago and I brought some really cute things for photos because they said they wanted to do a camping shoot. I showed them the stuff I brought for shooting and then they never brought it up again… I didn’t want to remind them and sound desperate so I didn’t end up having any pictures.
But now I really notice more and more feeling excluded from these moments. I went out with another two friends from my hometown recently and again, very beautiful women, one of them took a little video at the restaurant and I was just kind of a blur in the corner… I thought it would be something else because she said “you two look so cute”after she took it but seeing it after it was posted I felt really sad…
I’m oftentimes in the background, the corner, off-screen during these “cute/instagramable” moments.
Well anyway… onto today. We’re on a trip and staying on my family’s boat and of course they wanted to take pictures. The photographer one did say specifically she wanted to take pictures of me and I said yeah I’ll try it.
They took a ton of each other, with each other… then it was my turn. I’m awkward and really hate my face but I tried, I laughed a few times because I felt silly but it was fun and new… she seemed disinterested quickly and we moved on. I saw them later and I’m just… so so so so sad. They all look awful. Maybe one looked good and she said “oh let me edit it” and I never saw it again.
Then she posted one of the ones of herself and of herself and my other friend… nothing of me. I made an appearance in one video which was a funny one but none of the very pretty nice pictures which I was hoping would make me feel okay with how I look and that they thought I was pretty too…
I know it all sounds so silly and I kind of set the expectation of me not liking photos, I’ve asked to take pictures in the past but I think I mentioned I feel silly doing it and am always really disappointed in the way I actually look.
I’m just sitting here crying alone in my cabin and wanted to get it off my chest… I’ve never said any of this stuff out look because I feel ridiculous…

2023.05.28 09:18 Nicaul How do I ask for Salary client owes me

I've known my client for about a year now. Client's got a history of venting her financial problems to me. Sometimes it makes me uncomfortable but I don't mind since we're friends anyway. I'm like a virtual PA and client trusts me with a lot of things like ssn, cv, paypal acc etc. I took a break from working with client because of school but client recently reached out for me to work as an assistant meaning: make calls, do usual office tasks, social media management and content creation for client's business startup.
Client offerred me 300 a month. Client paid 300 for the first month, the following month half of it cuz business wasnt going good. I said ok the month after, 150 is fine. So technically client owed me 300, which was delayed for about a week from payday.
Yesterday client sent half of the 300 saying that's all client had. I said okay, I can ask for the other half next month. I get a reply saying client is not sure about having 150 due to debt and bills.
Now I feel conflicted. How do I reply to this? I feel like I deserve the other half since I've been doing my part creating reels in the middle of the night on a school day and even set up ecommerce website for the business(totally not part of initial agreement) but I don't wanna be so tough on client.

A few months ago, I had a chat with a guy from bumble. Arvin name niya and pakilala niya is kakaluwas niya palang sa manila, galing daw siyang nueva ecija. Nagkachat kami tuesday or wednesday ata and he told me na he’s abt to start his new job sa manila the following monday. Inventory ata yung nature ng job niya, not sure kung tama alala ko. Then he’s abt to go to the place na narentahan.
Eto na nga, nawala daw wallet niya and he lost 6k daw, ung pera na supposedly gagamitin niya for expenses hanggang unang sahod niya. Wala na rin ung pera n ibabayad niya para sa tutuluyan niya.
Ayun wala na daw siya food and all. So I offered to help, pahiramin muna para pangkain kasi gutom na raw siya. With all hopes na babayaran niya. In good faith naman kaya ko pinautang, baka totoo so kawawa naman kung di ko tulungan.
The day passes, patapos na ung nirent niya na place. He told me uuwi muna siya sa nueva to ask money from his fam, kaso naubos na ung naipautang ko na money kasi (lunch dinner ata binili niya) so he ASKED for money, babayaran niya daw. Ayun di muna ako nagreply agad, tinimbang ko muna. Nagchat pala siya nakatambay daw siya sa labas ng establishment. Naawa ako, like sobra. I don’t want that for anyone, kaya ayun nagsend ako pamasahe niya. Tas ayun he asked for a little extra pa kasi kulang daw ng pang trike. I sent. And ayun umuwi na siya.
Paguwi niya di siya nagchat agad, I had to message him pa.

2023.05.28 09:13 Mattrapbeats Making first 10 sales with $0 marketing budget

Last week I made a post about generating 2.5 million in sales for a client without spending a dime on ads. The thing is, I did this on a brand that already did over a million in sales the year before. I got a bunch of messages from people that don't already have established brands but thought they could benefit from organic traffic. So I made this post, I'll explain exactly how you can generate sales with literally nothing other than time and a website.

Quick disclaimer, it's 10x harder to make your first 10 sales if you don't have a marketing budget or an existing audience to market to. You're going to have to consistently spend multiple hours a day working to accomplish anything. Not just mindless work either, you're going to have to be a critical thinker and have a basic understanding of human psychology to see any type of success using these methods. If you don't have time to do that, you won't see any results from these methods and you might as well stop reading now.

Now that we've cleared that up let's get to the good stuff. Here's how you make your first 10 sales without spending any money on marketing.

In order to get sales you need traffic. You can't test anything or sell anything if no one visits your site.
So here are 3 ways to generate traffic for free:

1. Become a member of the community that your customers interact in
In my last post, I explained how I built a community from scratch, but at this point, I'm assuming you don't have time to spend 3 months building a community if you haven't even proven that anyone wants to buy your products. So I'm going to teach you how to piggyback off existing communities.
It is easier said than done, but 1 good post can get easily get you your first 5 sales. You can do this on Reddit, in Facebook groups, or any other type of niche relevant group/forum. If the people in these communities think you're trying to sell something you'll probably just get banned and people will actually get mad at you for trying to sell your products. The trick is being a casual, you want to put yourself in the shoes of your ideal customer. Don't even mention your products in your first 2-3 posts. Maybe ask niche relevant questions, or provide value in comments under other people's posts and show people that you have a genuine interest in the topic. Think of this like warming up your account.
Now when it's time to sell, you do it in the most discreet way possible. The better your product is, the easier it is to do this. This is the fastest way to find out if your product is actually useful and if there's actually demand for your product. The best way to promote your product and create brand recognition is with lifestyle content. Never post a product photo with a white background in a community group. NEVER!

I'll give you a few examples of how to post product pics correctly:
Example 1
niche: dog niche
product: dog collar
You take a dog to a beautiful place. Maybe a beach by the water and you get a whole photoshoot with the dog. Bring lots of treats and showcase a happy dog wearing the collar you sell. Now you don't post the entire photoshoot in the group. You post 1 picture, not necessarily the best picture or the most professional looking one. You want to post the picture that evokes the most emotion. It's the picture with the dog making a funny face, or another dog sniffing your dog's butt, or the pic with your dog in bliss chewing his favorite treat that goes viral. Pick a picture that'll start a discussion and reply to every single comment. Then, once the post does well, without a doubt someone will ask about your product. That's when you come in and give a shoutout to the site that you got it from. If no one does this, you can literally create a fake account and ask/answer the question on your own. You're basically creating the perception of product demand.

Example 2
niche: food and beverage/electronics
Product: digital thermometer
Imagine... It's steak night, you fire up the BBQ and you want the perfect steaks! We're selling the dream of a perfectly cooked steak, not a digital thermometer. You post 2 pictures. Picture 1 is the steak on the grill with the thermometer showing the perfect temperature. Picture 2 shows the perfectly sliced steak being served. Try to capture someone that stirs emotions in the picture, whether it's a happy grandma, a kid with the steak on his fork, or a hungry pet drooling and looking at your plate. Emotion is what sells the product. Make sure you have a caption that conveys the message that you're trying to send. Use something short and simple but also try your best to convey a story. Further, convey the imagery in the comments ex. "Inlaws are over, got this thermometer to make sure everything was cooked perfectly, Now everyone thinks I actually know how to cook."

Example 3
Niche: candles
Product: candle
"Midterms are around the corner, sparked my favorite scent to set the mood tonight" (caption for the post in studying group or collage group) + a picture of an opened textbook and candle in the background, but you can clearly still see the candle label. This example is for the people who have general products. It may actually be harder for you to sell a candle in a candle subreddit because there are just too many options. So you get into the mind of your customers, you imagine the scenario your customer is in when they use your product, and you sell the feeling of enjoying the product in a situation that they've experienced before.
In the comments, you describe the scent in detail and you talk about how you prefer this candle over the one you got at Bath and Body Works because it's made from natural materials.
If you do this right, consistently. Eventually one of your posts will go viral and without a doubt that will convert into a sale.

2. Grow social media organically
This is a lot easier if you can afford to order the product that you sell. But it's still possible to make this work if you can't get the product in your hands.
With this method, you're essentially picking up a new part-time job. You are now a social media manager, you work 20 hours a week and create and post new content on multiple platforms every single day. You want to take advantage of platforms that favor new accounts. A great place to start is Tiktok but Instagram reels is pretty good too. Tiktok boosts the reach of new accounts, you can see a lot of success blitzing a new Tiktok account (2-5 posts a day). The Instagram algorithm boosts accounts that post a lot of reels because for a good while Tiktok was destroying them with short-term content. (Fun fact this feud between platforms is so deep that if you make a video on Tiktok and you cross-post it on Instagram without removing the Tiktok watermark, the Instagram algorithm will suppress the reach of the video)

You want to focus on making short videos with a focus on real-life use cases of your product. I'd break this down into 3 steps.

A. Research
B. Content Testing
C. Doubling down on what gets traction

It can take weeks or even months to get a good feel for how to create engaging content. The true key is consistency. At the end of the day, it's gonna come down to volume. Not just any volume, but a high volume of quality content. Whatever platform that you decide to use, I suggest watching at least 4 hours of content on youtube from experts on the platform. You'll pick up a bunch of tricks and tips. It's important that you understand how the algorithm works on different platforms to see any type of success doing this. I wouldn't suggest attempting to scale on more than 3 platforms at once. In fact, it's actually better to focus on 1 platform and do it well over splitting your time into other platforms trying to scale 3 pages at the same time. Don't spread yourself too thin.

3. Elite cart protection
If you do under 10k a month most email marketing is irrelevant. People with startup brands book calls with me all the time and I tell them the same thing. You need traffic before there's anything I can do to help you other than give some basic advice. However, there are 3 automated email flows that actually can make an impact at this point. These flows are the welcome series, the abandoned cart, and the browse abandonment. Most email platforms are free and they charge based on volume. So in most cases, this won't cost you anything. Sites like Klaviyo make it very easy to set up the basics. Don't overthink this at all, at this point you don't need beautiful designs or stand-out copywriting. You simply need to just follow up with the interested potential customers that visit your site. A healthy store converts 3% of its traffic, 7/10 people who add things to their cart don't complete a purchase. You have a second chance at converting 97% of the people that visit your site if you actually follow up with them.

I've made entire posts about how to set flows up correctly so I won't be expanding on this much more.

I know this post was a bit long-winded but if you've made it this far you must be serious. There's going to be a bunch of people that read this thread and take no action that'll stay at 0 sales. The beauty of life is that you get to choose what happens next.

With that being said, thanks so taking the time out of your day to read my post. I hope even some of the bigger brand owners were able to get something out of this post. I look forward to seeing some of you guys make your first few sales in the coming weeks. As always feel free to add onto things that I missed, or maybe share what worked for you. I'll reply to everything that I see.

2023.05.28 09:13 eap9903 how to apply for a job at 16 w/o official help from at home

before I begin I would like to state that I’m looking for advice and help. I have no background experiences, and don’t even know where to begin. needless to say, I know we’re in a hardship, and finding a job for myself doesn’t sound to bad anyways considering it’s summer. any advice on where to begin or what to do? thank you!
