2023.05.28 07:39 kayayem G Tube insertion recovery time?

My dad had a G tube inserted on Monday because he has dysphagia which no one can figure out the cause of (he’s seen many specialists so far). He cannot even suck on ice chips without choking. His eating before the tube was scary I was so worried he was going to choke to death.
It’s now Saturday. Every single meal (bolus feeding) he has had through the tube has caused him to vomit. It is also coming out the other end for almost 48 hours too. Is this normal and how long does it take for the body to get used to a G tube?
He is currently in a skilled nursing facility being monitored around the clock by nurses. A doctor saw him yesterday and prescribed anti-nausea medication which is crushed up and given through the tube, which he also vomits. The doctors and nurses all say he is fine and his vitals are normal and his body will just need to get used to the way he is being fed now. I am trying to believe them but it hurts me to see how miserable he is.
Also he is not allowed to drink any water but with that much vomiting and diarrhea (literally several times a day) it makes me think he needs to replace his fluids. But the doctor has not prescribed an IV and the nurses aren’t worried about it. The only fluids he is getting right now are during flushing and with crushed medication. The nurse said if she gave him more fluids through the tube he will bloat and become even more uncomfortable. This gives me red flags but I also don’t have a medical degree so what do I know.
Thanks for any insight or your experience that you can give me!

2023.05.28 07:36 Ciiza Screen lags while using 120hz

So my screen is lagging when I switch to 120hz refresh rate, when I go back on 60hz It's smooth with no problems. Every game I have to set to 60hz otherwise It's unplayable. When I dont play it is okay sometimes, but not always. Sometimes when I just watch YouTube the video starts lagging. I use 120hz on my desktop PC without issues.
To describe the problem: screen lags every second, like it is skipping frames every second. Only thing that occurs me is that my internet can't make it, but I stream movies And Twitch on full HD on my desktop PC with no problem. So I dont think that Is the problem cause i never experienced my internet not being good enough.
I use 1920x1080, Power.
I tried to switch every single setting in Shadow and also in nVidia Control Panel with no success.

2023.05.28 07:35 Sirbritishbear [PC][2005-2010] Lotto Ball game where theres like tubes of balls with numbers popping up and you rack up points as you progress from casino to casino all the way up to vegas or something similar.

So glad i found this subreddit - like i said its a gambling game but i remember it being like the mega millions where balls go through tubes and you rack up points somehow, and after you get so many points you can continue up the ladder so to speak to bigger fancier places to gamble and win - but pretty much the main game is this powerball kind of game, i forget the mechanics i just remember it being addicting and playing it on my cousins girlfriends PC when i was 12, which now im in my 20s so its definitely been a while xD
TLDR:
But if you can name me any old PC games that let you progress through casino/building like levels like that, please let me know, because it could be what im looking for even if my description isn't perfect, though im trying my best to remember the exact details so any suggestions at all would be wonderful, maybe even if i see a game similar that could help find the one i want.

2023.05.28 07:33 NotMichaelScott_ books and free videos to learn editing with resolve

recently i started exploring davinci resolve 18. i am enjoying the process so far. until now i have watched their official training videos and Casey Faris's videos on YouTube.
i am looking for books that introduce me to the basic concepts of editing and the terminology associated with them. please suggest if you have any recommendations.
also, is there a website or app that provides you with source files and the final edit? i have been looking for free videos to but i am unable to put together a story line with those random videos. so if there a final cut and source files for it then i can try to replicate that final cut and in the process get to learn editing. is there an avenue to do this?

2023.05.28 07:32 Don-Trenbolone Audio Source from Darth Plageius Audiobook?

This is very specific but if anyone here has listened to the darth plageius audiobook, there is a background noise used a lot in the book that is sort of like ambient electronic/ engine noise. It plays towards the beginning of the of the book after Plageius kills the crew of the ship he was stowaway on and meets 11-4D. So if anyone can link to a YouTube or website that has this sound that would be appreciated.

2023.05.28 07:30 Senzualdip Pointers for flatheads in Wisconsin?

So I’m a walleye fisherman by nature, but my good buddy loves to go for catfish. Normally it’s just to a local lake for channels. And they are easy to catch. But I’m looking to catch some big guys.
So what size rods, reels, line, hooks, etc should I look at buying? Trying to keep it cheap as it’s not something I’ll do on the regular. I know they are in the fox and rock rivers. Any good places from shore in south central Wisconsin? What else should I know?

2023.05.28 07:30 AppropriateAmount293 Ruined my lawn sand leveling

Last summer I tried to level my lawn with mason sand and ruined it. It was a seeded KBG lawn that looked great but was uneven. Stupidly I listened to YouTube and put 6 yards on my 7000sq ft lawn.
This spring the lawn didn’t bounce back, there’s a lot of dead spots and now I don’t know how to reseed with an inch of sand sitting on top of my soil. I tried an early spring reseed that failed. I think the sand is draining too well and letting the seed dry out, I’ve been watering constantly but the sand drains so dam fast it’s dry in a few hours and my water bill is through the roof.
I’m not sure what to do at this point, should I dump another load of topsoil on top and till it? I’ve read not to add compost or topsoil on top of sand because it will create a layer.

2023.05.28 07:29 Maleegee [EVENT] The Career of Giangiacomo "il Grande"

5 December 1518

Musical Accompaniment

Born in 1440 to Antonio Trivulzio and Francesca Visconti, minor Guelph nobles in Milan, Gian Giacomo Trivulzio was raised alongside Galeazzo Maria Sforza, and would spend much of his early life in his service.
His military career started in 1465, when at the age of 25 he accompanied Sforza's army to France, where they would fight on the side of King Louis XI against the League of Public Weal. This taste of blood was evidently rather satisfactory for Trivulzio, as he would spend the remainder of his life in military service.

Sforza and Montefeltro Service

In the 1460s, he fought in the service of the Sforzas against the famous Bartolomeo Colleoni - one of the greatest military minds of the 15th Century. Soon after, he moves to the service of Federico da Montefeltro, and fights in the infamous Battle of Riccardina, where the forces of Colleoni, Ercole d'Este, and Alessandro Sforza, as well as some Florentine families, faced off against an alliance of the Medicis, King Ferdinand I of Naples, and Federico da Montefeltro.
It is in this period that he marries his first wife, Margherita Colleoni - a distant relative of the famous Condottiero.

Condottiero

In 1478, he entered the service of the Medicis against the expansionist Pope Sixtus IV, defending the city of Florence in the wake of the Pazzi Conspiracy, until the Ottoman capture of Otranto forced a peace settlement.
In 1480, he purchased the castle of Mesocco. By 1496 the surrounding countryside will have joined the Three Leagues in Switzerland, by his permission.

Rossi War and Ludovico Sforza

In 1482, he enters the service of Ludovico Sforza, against the Rossi family of Parma, in rebellion against the Sforzas of Milan. As tensions built up between Ludovico Sforza - then Regent of Milan - and the other nobles of Milan, it was Trivulzio - then only a lieutenant to Costanza Sforza - who was entrusted with taking Parma. Trivulzio proved himself incredibly capable in the art of siege and harrying, devastating the lands loyal to the Rossi, and capturing alpine fortresses with great vigor. Making excellent headway, it was only the intervention of the Republic of Venice that stopped Trivulzio. His soldiers were transferred to the command of the Duke of Urbino - an old employer, Federico da Montefeltro. Eventually, Trivulzio would work his way to being the primary commander of Ludovico's forces in Milan, winning the war for the Milanese, defeating the Venetian army at Martinengo, and becoming Governor of Parma for the Sforzas.
His first wife died in 1485. She had given him one surviving son - Gian Niccolò Trivulzio, and a score of daughters.

Neapolitan Service

In 1488, he moves to Naples, and enters the service of Alfonso d'Aragon, Duke of Calabria. He would marry Beatrice d'Avalos, and would be appointed Commander of the army of Naples. It is in this period that Charles VIII invades Italy, after being invited into Milan by Ludovico Sforza.

Charles' War for Naples First Italian War (1494-1498)

Musical Accompaniment

In 1494, Trivulzio negotiated the surrender of Naples to Charles VIII, who, impressed by the man, hires him into French service, with the written permission of Ferdinand I of Naples. In 1495 he fought in the Battle of Fornovo in the service of the King of France, marching back to France with the army. He is appointed Marshal of France for his actions in the battle.

Second Italian War (1498-1503)

In 1498 Trivulzio was placed in charge of a large army by the new King Louis XII. He marched on Milan, and chased Ludovico Sforza, now Duke of Milan, to Innsbruck, where he bid the assistance of Maximilian of Austria.
In October 1499, Trivulzio entered Milan, and was appointed Governor.
In 1501, Trivulzio was again placed in charge of a French army - this time, he was intended to be in command of small contingents of French troops to hold river crossings. Instead, he found himself in the midst of the French Army in their victory at Gorgonzola. The French - employing great numbers of Swiss mercenaries, defeated an Imperial army marching alongside Ludovico Sforza.
In 1502, Trivulzio commanded the French army at (the later named First Battle of) San Martino, buying valuable time for the French to bring reinforcements across the alpine passes after the Fall of Savoy and save Milan from the Imperial incursions. Later in the year he would lead the French at Marzaglia, being bested by Cesare Borgia, and withdrawing to Reggio.
In 1503, Trivulzio commanded the French army at Monterosi, squaring off against the Spanish Army, with the Fate of the Eternal City at stake. Routing the Spanish, he drove south to the banks of the Garigliano River, before being finally stopped, not by the Spanish, but by his own supply lines.

War of the Second Italic League Third Italian War (1506-1509)

In 1506 Trivulzio commanded the French Army putting Modena to siege, taking it in early 1507. Having kicked a hornet's nest, Trivulzio was forced to withdraw from Modena, though stood up a valiant defence against a Venetian-Ferrarese army at Lodi.
With Milan in rebellion (in part to Trivulzio's poor governance), he withdrew from Milan, and met with the main French army in Novara.
In 1508 Trivulzio spearheaded the counterattack into Milan, which was then in Austrian hands. Crossing the Ticino, he met the main army under Georg von Frundsberg at Borgarello. Bloodying the Austrians, he forces them to withdraw, and is joined by Rohan-Gie and Trémoille, to defeat the Austrians and Venetians at the absolutely gargantuan Battle of Gaggiano. With the Austrians and Venetians defeated, Trivulzio set about restoring order to Milan. It is said that he attempted to put a stop to the worst of the sacking, but it is rather suspicious that most of the sacking hit the worst of the Ghibelline sections of the Duchy...
In 1509 Trivulzio oversaw the capture of Montferrat, and its subsequent integration into the Duchy of Milan.

Borgia War (1511-1512)

In 1511, following Cesare's attempt at seizing Rome and subsequent flight to Romagna, Trivulzio leads a Milanese army to the Romagna, where they put down Cesare Borgia alongside a Papal coalition by 1512. It was in this war that his son, Gian Niccolò passed - camp fever had taken him during a siege.

Francis' War for Naples Fourth Italian War (1512-1515)

Musical Accompaniment

With the betrayal of the Spanish, and the commencement of Francis' War for Naples, Trivulzio commanded a rear force in the siege of Pescara. With the fall of that city in 1513, he lead a supporting force to Francis, proving to be a mentor and moderating voice to the rapacious young Duc de Valois.

Lombard War Fifth Italian War (1515-1516)

By 1515, the French army in Naples was exhausted, and saw fit to retire north, as the Emperor had made a pact with the Venetians, and invaded Milan. Trivulzio fought a rearguard action against the Spanish, allowing the Duc de Valois to pursue a stunning victory against the Austrians and Venetians at Lodi, and yet again routing Maximilian and the Venetians from the Duchy of Milan.

Trivulzio's final actions came in 1516, where he took over the command of the army from the gravely wounded Duc de Nemours, and proceeded to assist in the seizure of Venetian Lombardy, and the subsequent Second Battle of San Martino.

Retirement

Tired and contented, Trivulzio passes in his bed in the Castello Sforzecco on the 5th of December, 1518. He was 78 years of age. He is succeeded by his grandson, Gian Francesco Trivulzio.
It is said that Giangiacomo requested to be buried with a sword on his chest, instead of a cross. When asked why, he answered, "To scare the devils when they come for me."

1203 Chesapeake Avenue was built in 1896 by William and Florence Sloane. Originally Norfolk County, today it is the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake.
William Sloane had come to Norfolk County in 1887 to work with his uncle, Foster Black, in his knitting mills. When Mr Black passed away in 1908 Mr Sloane continued the operations. In the meantime he had returned to Manhattan long enough to marry his childhood sweetheart, Florence Knapp.
The mills prospered and in 1906 the Sloane's purchased several acres on a point of land along today's Lafayette River near the present day Hampton Boulevard bridge. They built a small summer cottage and named it The Hermitage (not pictured). Originally to be a part time residence they continue to spend more time there and to enlarge the building until they were there full time and the modest "cottage" had grown to over 40 rooms.
It was Mr Sloane who first saw the need for a faster way of getting from Berkley to downtown Norfolk and was president of the company that constructed the first Berkley bridge. He also built the Wainwright building which was owned by the family until the 1970s.
Florence Sloane was a firm believer in the arts and amassed a huge collection which was displayed in their home and, at times, on several floors of the Wainwright building. She championed the cause of a museum for Norfolk and the Sloanes donated land they owned at the end of the Hague to open the Norfolk Museum of Arts and Sciences, now known as the Chrysler Museum.
Not content to leave Norfolk with one museum they also left their home on the Lafayette River as "The Hermitage Museum and Gardens."

2023.05.28 07:23 melvinlane Struggling mentally

I’ve been wanting to write this for months and didn’t really know what to say. It’ll be long so I understand if you don’t wanna read it, but it feels good saying it.
This past November, I got sick. At the time, I was terribly afraid of the doctor. Hadn’t been in years. So I did a telehealth visit, and was told I had bronchitis. The doctor prescribed me what was basically Mucinex and an Albuterol inhaler for the wheezing. This went on for about a week. After that I started getting very sick. Low grade fever, coughing like crazy, and the wheezing was getting worse. I got worried once the Albuterol stopped working, but shrugged it off. I never get sick so this was no different, right? Way wrong. At about 2:30 on a Sunday morning, I was really struggling to breathe. I woke my fiancée up and off we went to the ER. I couldn’t breathe if I was sitting straight up, so I was leaned over the back seat just to get half a breath.
Once we got to the ER, it was all I could do to walk in but I did it while she parked the car. This is when it gets a little blurry because my oxygen was sitting at about 88%, but I was none the wiser. When I got to triage they had me sit in a wheelchair, but I couldn’t because sitting was restricting my breathing so bad. At some point they got a blood pressure reading of about 260/120 something (I was freaking out bad at this point). I walked to the waiting room and was standing/leaning over some chairs to catch my breath. Then a nurse came to wheel me back to a room. The last thing I remember is my feet hitting the doors to the actual ER, and I blacked out.
This is where shit gets wild, because the next thing I remember is being semi conscious (I think) and someone asking me a bunch of yes or no questions. Like asking if I knew where I was, what happened, etc.. Next thing I know is there’s a super bright light and some man is telling me to cough cough cough. That’s when I felt the breathing tube come out of my throat. I was very confused, but very high from all the drugs. I had been on a ventilator for about 5 days and had zero clue.
I later learned that in the ER, they had given me all kinds of breathing treatments and nothing was working, so they decided to intubate me. I don’t remember any of that happening and that’s probably for the best. All of that turned in to an 8 day stay at the hospital.
There’s a lot more to this story but I’ll wrap it up. What I ended up with is double pneumonia which turned in to sepsis. Oxygen got down to 80% and my PCO2 was sitting at a cool 90. Arterial blood pH was about 7, almost 6.9. Not good. They even had a chaplain come talk to my family because they were about to let me go; nothing was working. Luckily the doctors never gave up, and for that, I’ll be grateful forever.
That’s the story about how I almost left this earth and got stuck with adult onset asthma. Luckily it’s now controlled and I have a good relationship with my doctor. Bottom line is, listen to your body. It may just save your life. So keep taking your meds guys, no matter how annoying it may seem ❤️

2023.05.28 07:22 godsandgiants Proposal: A Weekly Self-Promo Thread

Looking at the front page of this sub-reddit, sorting by hot/new, etc. about half of the front page is a continuous stream of self-promotional threads.
These threads pretty much always have no comments and are buried in a few days, replaced by new self-promo threads from new authors. The other half of the main page of this sub-reddit is usually discussion threads with a decent number of comments that are way more engaging and useful to people.
I have seen how this goes on other sub-reddits like YouTube, etc. If Substack continues to grow, this sub will quickly just become a dumping ground for people dropping their link. No one will read it because it will just be another one on the pile. And the sub-reddit will slowly be sucked of any oxygen for actual utility or discussion.
I propose a weekly (or monthly?) thread for people to provide a self-promotional link to their newsletter with a description of what they write about.
It is already getting a little annoying to navigate the main pages of this sub-reddit whilst sifting through all the empty self-promo threads.
I understand self-promo and generally think it is fine, but the sub-reddit is getting inundated with it, and it's still early yet.

Highlights

At Glasgow's postcard-perfect bridges on this comprehensive sightseeing tour by bicycle. Your journey begins by pedaling along a flat path towards the ferry landing where there are bike racks (free during winter, $3 for valet bike parking the rest of year).

On this two-hour guided bike tour of central London's landmarks, learn the history behind iconic structures like Tower Bridge, Nelson's Column and St Paul's Cathedral.
No matter if you choose an electric bike or regular bicycle, the ride is smooth. Your guide is eager to share fun facts about each site you see; in several instances they have even stopped to help people with flat tires or assisted a woman who crashed and broke her arm; it is this attention to detail that sets this tour apart.

Distances

The Tower Bridge is an eye-catching red wall set against the skyline of London that appears as though it were an arch, though in reality it looks more like a bridge from end to end. Furthermore, there's even an eye-catching sight: an adorable small hoodoo sitting atop it for extra charm.
Biking enthusiasts will find riding across the bridge and down into Sausalito enthralling; here you'll find many charming shops. However, young children and those less adept on bikes might prefer other forms of transportation instead.

If you are crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on a guided tour, your guide will introduce a safer bike route with stunning views of the bridge that avoids steep hills in Fort Baker and leads straight onto an ideal bike path - much preferable than Alexander Avenue route which was dangerous and traffic-intense.

Routes

As a way of exploring your city on two wheels, there are various bike routes you can take to navigate around it. Google Maps offers bicycle navigation instructions while Strava provides another tool to plan out bike routes.

https://preview.redd.it/5nnc0lynbi2b1.jpg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e41683ee12e19077a5d4943cd657b64048cdde5
One of the most scenic bike routes is crossing Tower Bridge on your way to Yerba Buena Island. This offers amazing vistas of both the bay and bridge. Another alternative would be cycling along Oakland's new Judge John Sutter Regional Shoreline park which provides safe multimodal access to its shoreline as well as stunning views of San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge's eastern span.
After starting at Gabriel's Wharf, follow the Thames eastbound until reaching Southwark district - once home to bear-baiting pits, whore houses, playhouses, murky taverns and more. At Southwark you will also encounter bear-baiting pits, whore houses and playhouses - before continuing onto Tower of London where its unique architecture and history await you before cycling towards Butler's Wharf and Shadwell Basin.

https://preview.redd.it/ysuzo5oobi2b1.jpg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a637aac76aa60957f90d8f4ee18e97d9d46fab6

Safety

Participants on a Tower Bridge Bike Tour must be capable of riding their own bicycle; tag-along bikes, child seats or strollers are not permitted for safety reasons.
For a shorter ride, start from Alexander Avenue's south vista point and ride directly downhill towards Sausalito - this route will cut out hill climbing by less than two miles! However, riding with traffic on narrow roads does mean sacrificing spectacular views of Golden Gate Bridge (passing underneath and then riding alongside it) and Fort Baker.

https://preview.redd.it/19enh13pbi2b1.jpg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d0681abcc3bbc80486774bb739156e89ebf14c2
Aquatic Park Municipal Pier, an historic narrow comma-shaped pier, provides some extra distance and beautiful views back towards San Francisco, Alcatraz and bay bridges. Additionally, this pier marks the start of a scenic pathway into Sausalito that leads to Warming Hut with refreshments, snacks and bathrooms available there.

2023.05.28 07:19 lovevolver ISO alternate version of “It’s Over”

Has anyone else heard this version? It begins with accordion followed by banjo and snare drum and becomes a much more drunken stumble of a song than the version on Orphans. It used to be on YouTube (morbidly featuring a still image from VHS quality video of a guy in a Santa suit with a bottle in one hand and the other holding a pistol to his head) but it’s nowhere to be found. I’ve never been able to find it anywhere else, spotify, etc.
What’s left of my soul needs that song. Help!

2023.05.28 07:19 sme11ypussy Excellence Punta Cana vs Secrets Royal Beach

Hello,
Stuck between these 2 as top choices, both at a similar price (EPC with excellence club, Secrets non preferred). Anything higher end (ie. Secrets Capa Cana) would be out of budget for the time period we'll be going.
We're a couple that's not pretentious, we're used to going to the nicest resorts in Cuba (Melia Buenavista, Royalton Cayo Santa Maria, etc..) which we both considered more then fine however as we want to go over new years Cuba will be too cold. This is why we ruled out Mexico as well, the weather in Punta Cana seems to historically be more sunny and warmer than Cancun over the new years period.
EPC seems to have more negative reviews lately but generally anytime I've seen these 2 resorts compared, people prefer EPC over secrets. For example in the Coolist's YouTube series, he ranks secrets at #6 and EPC at #1.
EPC also looks a little older and run down with somewhat worse trip advisor reviews as of late however consensus seems to point to EPC over secrets?
Not sure what to think, I'd appreciate any input/advice.

2023.05.28 07:16 ndguardian Streaming PC multiplayer game with voice chat using ATEM Mini Pro, how should I do the audio?

Hey there!
I apologize in advance if this has been answered elsewhere, but I've done a bit of searching around for a couple hours now and can't seem to find an answer.
I picked up a BlackMagic ATEM Mini Pro Iso for recording some YouTube videos I'm working on, but I've also had a passing interest in doing Twitch streaming as well. Given it has the ability to natively stream to Twitch, it seems like an ideal candidate. I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how I would do the audio though.
Let's say I'm playing with a group of friends. The video part is easy - HDMI and camera in on the ATEM, set that up however I need and then feed direct camera 1 out to my monitor for minimal latency. For audio though, how would I go about that? Obviously I need to be able to hear the game audio as well as the other players, they would need to be able to hear me, and ideally all of it gets captured in the stream. How would I go about setting this up?
My first thought would be to have PC audio passed out to the monitor, then hook up headphones to that so I can hear, but then use two microphones. One microphone is hooked up to the PC to the players can hear me, and the other hooked up to the ATEM so I can be heard on stream. I feel like there's got to be a simpler solution though. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
