2023.05.28 09:13 eap9903 how to apply for a job at 16 w/o official help from at home

before I begin I would like to state that I’m looking for advice and help. I’m not too sure how/what I’m exactly doing or expecting. I 16 and my at home life has been bumpy recently. one of my parents is a SAH parent as the other recently lost their job (they got a job now after 9 months of unemployment however it’s a low paying job). We have been very fortunate to have help from everyone around us, and haven’t delt with any hardship money issues. recently our rent got raised, and keep in mind the current working parent isn’t making enough to support all the bills, incomes, and expenses of everything. I fortunately am a varsity cheerleader, and joined the team last year before any job issues within the household or any financial struggles. I’m not a greedy teenager, and usually only use money when it’s birthday money or holiday money. I also do not ask my parents for much in money terms. I do not have my license and won’t for a few months, so gas for me isn’t an issue as we have help with things such as. however, this year cheer is going up for money wise. recently an email got sent out for cheer finances for this coming school year, we have stunting classes 3-4 weekly and it’s $25 per week. this may not seem like a lot to many, however, these classes will go on until December, being about 27 weeks and $500 for just stunting classes, on top of the uniform, camp, and other activities- rounding up to about 2,000 I want to say. I know that we are in a financially touch situation, and that cheer isn’t a top priority. we have to pay the stunting classes weekly however, and the rest of the cheer bill comes out at the end of the season (march/April). yet again I would like to state I’m not a greedy teenager, and I know money is a huge issue right now for us in our current circumstances. I also know that 25 weekly for 27 weeks is a lot, and it isn’t solvable with only 1 source of income in the household. my parents do other systems go get income, but it’s not consistent. and my other parent is having difficulty finding a job as they’re the SAH and have the responsibility of taking me and my siblings to school and home (at least until I get my license and can take us home). I feel like I might be sharing too much personal information out into the internet, but I just need advice. there’s a really cute little place a few blocks from where we live (I will not disclose what it’s called for safety purposes) but it’s somewhat of a coffee shop, my friend started working there a few weeks back. needless to say, having a friend working there would make me feel even more comfortable. I have no idea how to set up an interview or ask about applying however, and need genuine advice on how to do so. I’ve tried applying for babysitting jobs on facebook, I’ve tried multiple things, my schedule was super busy during school due to cheer involvement as well, so since it’s summer I feel I’ll have an easier route to a job. I have no background experiences, and don’t even know where to begin. needless to say, I know we’re in a hardship, and finding a job for myself doesn’t sound to bad anyways considering it’s summer. any advice on where to begin or what to do? thank you!

2023.05.28 08:51 shahla_naz Handpainted Items Décor Ideas For You

Hand-painted items have always been a popular way to add a personal touch to your home decor. Whether it's a one-of-a-kind vase or a custom-painted picture frame, hand-painted items can add a unique and special element to any room. Let us explore some creative hand-painted item decor ideas that can help transform your space into a personalized and beautiful sanctuary.
Painted Furniture
One of the most popular ways to incorporate hand-painted items into your home decor is by painting furniture. A simple coat of paint can turn an ordinary piece of furniture into something extraordinary. You can start with something small, like a side table or a chair, and work your way up to larger pieces like a dresser or a headboard.
When it comes to painting furniture, there are endless possibilities. You can paint the entire piece one color or create a unique design by painting different parts of the furniture in different colors. You can also add stencils, decals, or hand-painted designs to give your furniture a one-of-a-kind look.
Custom-Painted Picture Frames
Picture frames are another great way to incorporate hand-painted items into your home decor. Custom-painted frames can be used to display your favorite photos, artwork, or even to create a gallery wall.
When it comes to painting picture frames, there are many different techniques you can use. You can paint the entire frame one color, add a simple design or pattern, or create a more intricate design using stencils or freehand painting.
Hand-Painted Vases and Planters
Adding a touch of nature to your home decor is always a good idea, and what better way to do it than with hand-painted vases and planters? You can find inexpensive vases and planters at your local thrift store or home goods store and transform them into a beautiful work of art.
When painting vases and planters, consider the colors you want to use and the type of flowers or plants you want to display. For example, if you are painting a vase for a bouquet of sunflowers, you might want to use bright yellow and green colors. If you are painting a planter for succulents, you might want to use more earthy tones.
Hand-Painted Wall Art
Hand-painted wall art is another great way to incorporate personalized decor into your home. You can paint a canvas, create a mural, or even paint directly onto your walls.
When it comes to painting wall art, there are endless possibilities. You can create a simple abstract design, a landscape, or even a portrait. If you are not confident in your painting skills, consider using stencils or tracing designs to help guide you.
Personalized Serving Trays
Adding a personalized touch to your serving trays can make your dinner parties and gatherings more special. You can find plain wooden serving trays at your local craft store and transform them into a beautiful work of art.
When painting serving trays, consider the occasion and the colors you want to use. For example, if you are hosting a holiday party, you might want to use festive colors like red and green. If you are hosting a summer barbecue, you might want to use bright colors like yellow and orange.
Hand-Painted Pillows and Blankets
Adding hand-painted pillows and blankets to your home decor can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. You can find plain pillows and blankets at your local home goods store and transform them into a beautiful work of art.
When painting pillows and blankets, consider the colors and patterns you want to use. For example, if you are creating a cozy winter theme, you might want to use deep blue and gray colors. If you are creating a summer theme, you might want to use yellow and other bright colors. Now that you know how to use handpainted items as home décor, get these items easily at TrueGether which is the best Shopify alternative free site. 2023.05.28 08:39 Visible-Bid3106 Did you eventually realize a lot of people don’t know what their doing when it comes to a career?

I’ve been kicking myself a lot lately. I left my first post college job after a year and a half, and if I’d only known then what I known now, I never would have left.
A lot of things happened last year and I was constantly comparing myself to my peers I graduated with. Everyone else seemed to find their dream job and things were moving along. Since the job I had wasn’t my “dream” job I was constantly looking for ways to get out of it.
The job I quit to go to was a very bad choice but at that time I thought I needed to do something different. I’m not joking when I say that job was terrible and I quit after a week. I got lucky that another company offered me a role the same week and I started shortly after. I’ve been at my newest job for about 4 months and I’ve still been regretting my decision. This job isn’t as bad as the last but it has its issues (poor management, lack of training, lack of benefits). Instead of having an actual role or career path, I’m just an office admin.
I wish I would have just went back to my old job after I quit my last after a week. I tried job searching again but I wasn’t liking any of the jobs in my area. I briefly considered becoming a teacher and took steps to get a teaching certificate but I realized I would not be a good fit dealing with kids all day. I went on multiple interviews and for jobs I thought I had a good chance with I was passed along with no interview offer. I was tried of the rejection and answering bs interview questions and bureaucracy, I missed my old company.
I sucked up my pride at the beginning of this month and asked my old boss from my first company if I could come back to work. She offered me my old job back and I am going through the rehire process now.
I felt embarrassed and besides from my immediate family knows I’m changing jobs again and going back to my first company.
It was yesterday when I was scrolling through Facebook that I saw two separate people I graduated with posting about starting new jobs that were a complete 180 than what they started out doing.
The first one was a girl who’d been with the same company almost 3 years if you count her internship experience. She’s now quit and working as a full time substitute teacher. The other was a guy who moved out of state after graduation and seemed to be a successful sales rep who moved back home. Initially he was going through the process to become a teacher but has now accepted a job as a vet tech at an animal hospital.

2023.05.28 08:37 KnowledgeSmall I have an unhealthy relationship with anger and don’t know how to cope.

“Walking on eggshells“ is probably the most accurate way to describe my life at home as a kid. My dad was a type of person who, if you breathed the wrong way, he would have absolutely no problem blowing up in your face. He would sometimes leave my mom and us kids on the side of the road if somebody did something in the car to make him angry. He could go from absolutely fine and smiling and goofy to my worst fucking nightmare. Every single birthday, holiday, vacation, or special occasion is marked by his anger in someway. As the oldest, a lot of that anger was directed at me. He would emotionally physically, and most of all financially abuse us all. “If you tell anyone what happened here today, they would look at you, your clothes, and your nice house and no one will ever believe you.“ He would treat my mom like crap because he knew that she couldn’t leave him because he had all the money. That always stuck with me.
I have not lived in his house for a long time, but I feel like I have a very unhealthy relationship with anger as an emotion specifically. I know that anger is a necessary emotion that we need to have and it’s OK to be angry. But I could be having a great day, and if somebody flipped me off on the highway, my day would be ruined. I wouldn’t chase them down or even acknowledge it outwardly. But internally I would seethe. I’m not flying off the handle at any inconvenience like my dad did, but I do have a short fuse. It feels like water boiling over inside of me. I would never hurt anybody but I don’t like how it makes me feel.
Another problem is that if I am in the same room with a person who is angry, I will have a panic attack. Especially men who are yelling. This is especially difficult at work because I deal with a lot of angry customers as part of my job. When someone gets really heated with me, curses me out, yells, or flips out in anyway, I will absolutely turn into a shaking mess. I have listened to recordings of myself dealing with difficult customers, and you can hear my voice trembling over the phone.
I do attend therapy. My therapist suggest counting to 10, finding ways to distract myself, breathing exercises… But once that pot boils over, it’s already done. How can I move forward? I feel like my coping mechanisms are poor.

2023.05.28 08:36 theblondelebron99 Resignation letter advice

Hey everyone, so I’m resigning from my job on Tuesday. I’ve drawn up a letter to specifically target my manager who truly screwed me over (I left a good job and then get bamboozled into a shitshow).
Anyway, here’s what I wrote, it’s long. HR will read it and my managers manager will read it. Let me know what I should edit or add. I left out the name of the actual company.
To Whom It May Concern,
This notice serves as my resignation from company Inc., effective immediately. Thank you to those who brought me on to the team, however, this position is not a good fit for me. It has put immense strain on my mental and physical health, and I believe it would be beneficial to both entities for me to exit.
Obviously this was not an easy decision, but there were a multitude of factors that have led me to this. I will highlight the issues I identified. Hopefully this can be used as helpful when looking for a new candidate.
• The hiring/onboarding process was unorganized. HR was not responsive and provided little guidance on steps to be on-boarded. I had to phone and email HR representatives to find out what I had to do for the pre-employment process. I had to travel to Jacksonville, FL for pre-employment, and they forgot to give me a badge.
• From the time I started, there was disconnect and misunderstanding of my qualities and skills. While I acknowledge I bare some fault for this, management initially was receptive to training me to enhance these skills.
• I received very little guidance or training on the systems and processes & procedures. Company utilizes homegrown tools that are old, complex and require some nuance. I would be given tasks I would not know how to do, and despite my pleas for help and guidance on how to do them, coworkers were either too busy with work, or would send me out of date work instructions. There was disconnect from my understanding of System 1. Even though System 1 is an EVM tool used by most defense companies, each company has different processes, templates and procedures when using the tool. Again, I did not receive any guidance on how it’s used with Company.
• There is no emphasis on work/life balance whatsoever. I see people working after normal hours, on weekends & holidays. I have also been encouraged to work after normal hours, despite being on a 9/80 work schedule and going over the allotted 40 we are paid for. This is not healthy.
• In addition, there was no communication to me that I would be working with people on Pacific Standard Time. This was not communicated to me until my start date, nonetheless, I was expected to work until 7PM-8PM every night to accommodate their time. I cannot do that, as I have other matters to tend to outside of work. This reinforces my point on there being a lack of emphasis on work/life balance.
• Everything from data management, systems and processes is sloppy, unorganized and a logistical nightmare. Nothing is streamlined in any regard. Deadlines and processes are arbitrarily changed with little communication.
• The program itself, while it being a great program, is in financial shambles. I believe this has allowed pressure and stress to be allocated from upper management to regular staff employees. Everyone seems to be under a great deal of stress, which is not conductive to a healthy working environment. As it was stated in the all-hands meeting, the program is at risk of losing a very large contract.
• The amount of travel. I flew up to Michigan for a week, which was fine. However, I was expected to stay in Detroit the next 2/3 weeks (June 4th-9th and June 11th-16th). While it is not consecutive since I can come home during the weekend, and management has been receptive to being flexible, I cannot travel this much and be away from home, as I have a sick grandmother and other activities I have to tend to outside of work. It was also noted that we would work 10-12 hour days, and maybe longer when in Michigan. Again, this is not conductive for work/life balance.
• I received no correspondence or guidance on my daily, weekly and monthly job duties. My coworkers and management were either unclear or too busy to go through my duties. Although there are battle rhythm calendars, there was no clear explanation on my responsibilities. While in training sessions, there was too many times I would receive calls from others to hop onto meetings or to drop off from the training sessions. This came off as unprofessional and was very frustrating. However, I understand they also had their duties to tend to as well.
There were more reasons, but these were the main ones that drove me to resign. I don’t want this to be shown as an ill-will towards the people of Company. I met some great people and value to connections I made. However, my professional experience with company has been nothing short of unprofessional, unpleasant and stressful.
All in all, I do not believe I was given the tools to succeed with Company. I am very disappointed with the outcome, as I was very excited to accept an offer from a great and reputable company. I do not believe this to be a representation of the people or the company as a whole, but I believe I was not given the tools to succeed.
