2023.05.28 07:56 RakeNutsAlot69 Grisha is the best and most tragic character of the series.

Tragic: Grisha found no real love from his parents, lost the only sibling he had, his own first son betrayed him, and lost his first wife and all his comrades. Started a new family, lost his second wife, got manipulated by his second son, had to kill royal kids, and fed himself to his second son. Too much loss and too little gain, what a brutal life to live.
Best: None of the events in AoT would have happened if it weren't for Grisha. Truly it is "story he started."
What a tragic, phenomenal, iconic character.

2023.05.28 07:55 pinksora1719 34[F4M] from PHP/anywhere preferably usa or EST time - looking for a friendly genuine connection with someone

Well I am trying my luck here probably looking for a genuine connection with someone who can relate to my hobbies and interests. My name is Chris, from the philippines. I'm a smart, ambivert girl who likes anime, gaming , food and arts.
I have been gaming a lot on my switch to entertain myself so I am kinda looking into meeting possible playmates
I do also some mmorpg games on my spare time but mostly i do rpg games on my laptop like old playstation games since i missed them a lot. I also just started gaming in pc mostly just mmorpg like Lost Ark or Mir4. I am no good at FPS games cause they trigger my vertigo and it usually makes me sick after gaming for 30 mins. At times catch up on my JRPGS while being idle at work currently finishing Tales of Vesperia.
I also know mobile legends, LOL and other games like genshin ( though i stopped early).
Looking for friends who can play with or someone to bond with to maybe lesser the time i overthink. Feel burned about life as I have been doing intensive parental caregiving the past months.
I am also an anime fan and a former cosplayer and a roleplayer. Also I am into movies a lot and watch almost everything on netflix. Maybe we can movie marathon or what or watch anime ( I am a 90's kid who really watched a lot of animes). I love horror movies but I am a coward so if I movie with you expect shrills and screaming from me .
I am also into fan fiction writing in archive of our own which i have a few works with thousands of reads. Maybe we can discuss about relevant topics about writing or so I don't know but i am no expert.
I just really hope to speak to someone of different culture or learn about their lives or talk to someone casually. I feel so overwhelmed by worldly probs and I do want a friend that keeps me sane and in check while i face everyday to live and breathe one more day.
Right now i am not looking for any relationship as I want to build myself up and be okay again. Well normally people think I got my shit together at my age now but right now i'm burned out. I have quit several of my hobbies due to my past relationships. Currently bombarded on caregiving. Even though I have struggles I do just want a good company and I don't need of saving on my problems. The savior complex of some does stress me and i dont like being dictated on what i should do and what.
Being cooped up at home tremendously gets mundane and I am hoping to meet people to share interest in or at least exchange relevant topics about life.
Also I draw digitally and try to do fan arts for Bts the korean group since I am a fan of it.
I am into photography, doll photography and food photography and love to dress up and make up. Also I am into culinary and love cooking. I binged a lot on baking shows and cooking competition shows like top chef or master chef. I love taking food pics of what I cook so pls feel free we can be chef mates and share recipes and such and also i am into baking I love to eat and taste different cuisines so a food buddy is preferred.
Anyways a friend who is into my interest I would love to speak and bond with.
People say I am a good listener maybe i can help too and give advices though I am not in the proper mental state to help with people under going immense stuff but I'll do my best to listen and advice as much as I can. They say I have great empathy and mindfulness of others and I am quite apologetic when I reply late.
I am normally awake in EST time american since my work is based in New Jersey. Americans or people in western countries works better for me since I sleep opposite of asians.
I am just a cute filipina who is a closet otaku looking for friends. i have a good sense humor and talk ample a lot and just chat literally almost about everything. But please do make efforts to converse and not let me do the talking it's really hard sometimes if communication is forced. If I offended you and you don't wanna be friends anymore that's fine just tell and I'll back off rather than being ignored intentionally. No drama promise .
Please do not come into my dms with the intent to sexualize me ...i have enough trauma from a sexual assault years ago...so pls if you have ill intentions.. do not dm me. I am not applying for any girlfriend position or be your future waifu. So please do not ask me sexual questions or any sexual preferences. At any point I am sexualized without consent I would block immediately. Again i am not looking for boyfriends or spouse for now nor I am looking for hook ups so stay away from me.
If you wanna see how i look check I can send pics. I am not a catfish yes I look 20's and i don't know why. Dont bother asking my snap i wont migrate there for you to validate my identity. I am not hooking up.
I am 5'3 1/2 yes I am small, my body type i am more on a curvy side for now and I am working out and dieting. I gained weight due to depression and anxiety from my sick ex . I am tan as you expect from filipinas and short hair, doe eyes and cute.
To be honest im scared partially with my post but either way. I just wanna feel a bit myself and meet pepple and I do want genuine friendly connection with someone. If you also do not like the fact I am living in asia and makes a big fuss i live far away...sorry I am not the girl for you.
So if you have reached this point I have a pending question
What is your favorite anime/game/ movie ? and why?. Send that to me when you mssg me here and I will entertain your pm. If someone doesnt follow this sorry i wont entertain. Since I believe good reading and following directions means a good intent towards someone.
This is a test someone reads my post and with the intent you really wanted to get to know me. Yeah I might sound demanding a bit but i really get a lot of mssgs and some are just after sex and such and really I am not for that at this point. Thank you for reading.

2023.05.28 07:55 e8odie Just let me stand on this soap box for 2 seconds and shout my 2 cents into the void

I want to be clear: I am not giving up on this team, but I may be giving up on this season. And by that what I really mean is largely thanks to the injury bug and offseason mismanagement my expectations and what I "need" to see have drastically changed.
With defensive woes of Keller and Tarek clearly not being ready. With the offseason mismanagement where we seemed to think we only needed to sign forwards and wingers and NO defenders. With us not keeping Gabrielsen or Romana tentatively. With all this, we already had NO depth. And now with injuries ranging from Cascante to Kolmanic to Driussi to Fagundez to Vaisanen - on top of that a joke of a CCL "run" and Open Cup - this late stretch has been a frustrating watch because I don't feel like I'm actually watching Austin but rather I'm watching a hobbled Frankenstein monster that's trying it's best and showing glimpses of possibility but no consistency whatsoever.
If we hold on to Radovanovic after his loan and/or we get Djitte back (both 6/30?) or get Romana back (which I know wouldn't actually happen until later) and we can actually play with a full roster, I can be really content playing a solid end to the season even if there's nothing left to play for in terms of trophies or postseason and even if it's just for like the last 10-15 games. I just want to see the full roster Wolff actually intended to work together....working together.

2023.05.28 07:55 Bozorboy-- Tips for 18 year old with detailing business?

Hi everyone. I started a mobile detailing business while in school last year, but didn’t really work on it much. This year I started with the season in April full time as I’m on a gap year. At the moment I only offer interior detailing (in process of implementing polish/wax), so I was wondering what I can do to really bring my business quality up from good to advanced. Past 30 days I’ve brought in 5 figures of revenue, but I still feel like there are things that I could do to show that extra level of detail and professionalism. Not sure what those things are which is why I’d like to hear what other Detailing business owners do, and what clients would like to see. Also just tips to ensure I do an even better job with the actual cleaning.
I’m always looking to learn, so if you have any idea/tip, big or small, I’d love to hear it!
Thanks.

2023.05.28 07:55 lostinlove6975 I thought I'd resolved my feelings for my AP ahead of a cross country move....

But who am I kidding. AP will always be one of my bff's (was for years before the flirting and eventual change in relationship) but as much as I'm trying to close part of my heart AP opened, just can't shut it down. We're huge music lovers and something from every song I listen to reminds me of him. When I wake up to a "you're so sexy and I love you"... My heart melts all over again. I don't want to do the extreme long distance we're going to have but I have reasons to fly back at least 4 times through March.
This just sucks. LD may work somewhat as our schedules can get so freaking hectic anyway.... I see a bunch of random layovers in the middle of the country.
Just had to vent. Can look through my post hx.

2023.05.28 07:54 mmillington Actress in the House Group Read, Week 2: Chapters 1-4

Sorry it’s a little long. Chapter 1 We begin with the slap. Bill Daley and his (girl?)friend Helen attend “a halfway mediocre” play during which a male character viciously strikes a female character, drawing (real?) blood. Daley spends much of the chapter interpreting and analyzing the responses of the other members of the audience and dissecting the blonde actress Becca Lang’s and the male actor’s motivations and responses. Much of his analysis focuses on who is or has experienced physical abuse/violence, as well as assessing threat levels. We see Daley express frustration with members of the audience for interrupting his analysis. We learn a little about Helen: She travels frequently for work, she and Daley often attend plays together, and Daley sees her as someone he could be with, “the whole package.” At intermission, the cast of characters in the audience share their responses to the slap. We find out Daley booked the tickets after receiving a phone call several days ago from the actress, Lang.
Chapter 2 This chapter is a flashback several days to the phone call. While sitting with Kid Knox, a drummer, Daley answers the phone, expecting it to be a call from one of his long-time legal clients Lotta, but it’s a woman who says, “It’s you.” Daley, his interest piqued, talks with her for some time, being told he was recommended to the woman by a Mr. van Diamond to address a housing issue she’s facing. She’s an actress subletting a place, but she spends significant time abroad, raising questions over her “primary residence.” She mentions “threats” against her. Daley repeatedly thinks she doing a “voice-job” on him. We get frequent references to acting, drama, playing roles, performances. Daley, while they’re talking, tracks the behavior of pigeons and an “out-of-place” brown dove outside his window. He tells her he’s not a real estate lawyer, but he gets sucked into finding out more about her case. She tells him her name and that she’s a stage actress. The conversation grows friendly, and they joke with each other. She tells him van Diamond called him a good listener, a giver, a fool. Daley thinks she has “a gift for toil.” She mentions Daley’s “employment agency.” Becca tells him, “We’re of the same blood, you know?” She mentions van Diamond’s “vile cufflinks” and gets Daley to agree to a short meeting. Donna, Daley’s secretary comes into his office to check on him, having overheard the conversation, especially the mention of “threats.” He stops at the supermarket on the way home to get a paper and track down the play Becca is in. He talks with his next-door neighbor about the mugging of a young boy on the playground at night. When he gets home, he books two seats for Becca’s play.
Chapter 3 The play resumes, and we’re filled in on some of the plot and character dynamics. The play features periodic pauses for voice-overs of Becca reading letters her character sent to her brother in Connecticut during her time in Nepal. The had a close relationship until he got married to a “noisy” redheaded woman. Becca then joined the Peace Corps and left for Africa. The brother has developed “noise-cancellation technology,” but he faces potential legal problems for “professional improprieties.” He’s also having an affair with his secretary, whom the sister (Becca) knows. The brother summons Becca home from Nepal, where she’d had a “spiritual experience” and been involved with the son of a Sherpa. The redhaired wife, leveraging power over Becca, pulls out the letters Becca wrote to her brother, at which point Becca tells her of the affair. She then runs to her brother to let him know she outed him, at which point we get the slap.
Chapter 4 Flashback 12 years to an earthquake in Manhattan. Daley wakes up around 3 a.m. to a phone call from his client Lotta, asking if she can sue Connecticut—which she claims was the origin of the quake—over the damage to two figurines that fell during the tremor. He tells her there’s no case to be had. At this time, Daley is married to Della, a dancer in the process of retiring, and she is out of bed (reading, he thinks, but later thinks she went for a run instead). He calls his little brother Wolf in Seattle to ask a structural engineering question related to one of Daley’s clients. We learn about Wolf’s history of error-proneness/unluckiness. He was literally blown out of the water when a nearby ship exploded in a harbor in Osaka, Japan; he collided while riding a dirtbike with the contents hanging off a moving truck. Daley was on vacation in India with his wife at the time of the Osaka harbor explosion, and the trip was cut short so they could attend to Wolf in the hospital. On the phone, Wolf invites Daley to join him as legal consultant on a trip to inspect a dam in Australia in a week. Daley gets up to check the house. He sees their house guest, a European financier Della hopes will fund a business that helps creative people find day/night jobs, lying in bed with his eyes open a slit. Daley answers a second call from Lotta, during which he hears the front door, and his wife comes upstairs. He had been thinking about how she would smell. They talk for a while; she encourages him to go on the Australia trip. He thinks about the letters her received from Wolf’s associates during his many travels. Della says she thinks Lotta has been abused. Her rationale is that Lotta is abusing Daley: “No, she’s over the line, she’s abusing you, why does she do that?” The couple turns sexual, we see a scar that runs from Daley’s wrist to elbow. As the couple gets going, the house guest is standing in the doorway. Possible implications of an affair?

Analysis

So far, we see McElroy establishing a number of key themes: acting/performance, house/housing, violence (slap, jolt, explosions), absorption. As in Hind’s Kidnap, McElroy plays on the multiple usages of many words: +Absorb dominates the first chapter and appears in the other three, characters in the novel and in the play within absorb one another, absorb blows, are absorbed in their work +Chapter two builds on voices in terms of accents, playing characters, and being out-of-place (reflected in the dove outside the window. +Chapter three explores noisiness in the redhead, the brother’s “noise-cancelling technology,” the “noise” of industrial warehouses (a callback to Daley’s observation of the poor acoustics in the renovated warehouse in which they’re watching the play). I also see it as a reference to the noisy aspects of the character’s lives, the affair, messy relationships, professional indiscretions. +Chapter four focuses on premonitions, Daley’s “prophetic” gift. I first noticed this in chapter two. Having begun the book with the slap, we get a flashback in chapter two that makes multiple references to a “jolt.” I don’t know of a term for this technique. Post-facto foreshadowing? But in chapter four, dreams, memories, fears (of physical danger to people he knows), and hopes are blended in the narration, and we have a chapter set more than a decade in the past, but the text remains conscious of present. McElroy’s prose feels smooth, even in the play chapters when he’s transitioning between the stage action, audience associations, and meta-commentary on the action and devices of the play. We also see the beginnings of McElroy using intratextual intertextuality: Within the novel, we get interplay between the “real” people and the characters. Daley analyzes the relationship between Becca and the male actor through the performance on stage. We also see multiple analogues: the secretaries both referred to as “girl Friday,” characters face legal trouble over professional improprieties, a sibling leaving with the married one staying at home, and I suspect more of the play’s plot elements will appear in the “real” character’s lives.

Questions

  1. Blood is mentioned multiple times. How do you see the interplay of violence drawing Becca’s character’s blood with the slap, the family ties, and Becca’s insistence she and Daley are “of the same blood”?
  2. How are you tracking McElroy’s persistent use of layered meanings?
  3. What do you make of the numerous points at which the narrative shifts to the second person?
For next Saturday, we will be reading chapters 5 through 14, up to page 118.

2023.05.28 07:54 NeatEmus Positive post - proud of us

Just wanted to post to say that I know there's been a lot crap thrown at this community over the last few weeks with the panorama episode (refuse to call it a documentary) and the York/North Yorkshire trial, and while this really hasn't been the best time for us, I was reflecting that I am genuinely proud of the way this community has responded to all of that.
Slightly tangential but I was diagnosed about 6 months ago and it's thrown up a lot of questions about what's me/what's adhd (and are they even different) and what even are my strengths. But the group's response to both these issues has helped me recognise some of the strengths I/we have. I don't think there are many groups of people that would pull together in the way we have - spending hours researching and writing valid, well thought out, compelling complaints to as many relevant parties as possible. And again slightly tangential but the fact the bbc didn't seem to anticipate this response from us shows how how little they actually understand about adhd, because if they did their research surely they'd have realised that when we care about something we really can be quite persistent.
Anyway that's all, I just wanted to write out some of my more positive reflections on some of the recent challenges

2023.05.28 07:53 YYocius Transitioning age?

Hi, im a 19 year old man that is having a gender crisis. I have been contemplating a transition MTF for the last 8 months. I have been telling myself that I should wait till im out of college and have a job that will help pay for the process via insurance. This is also because I am unsure if my family would support it and I am unsure how they would react.
Some background info on my family:
My dad is the stereotypical middle aged man who doesn't understand transitioning. His fiance, my step mother, comes from a family of born again christians. Her daughter came out as bi to her and she was openly against it and told her she wasnt allowed to date a woman in their house until she moved out. They refused to let her buy a bracelet of a bi flag and I ended up buying it for her. I am unsure if my dad knows that her daughter came out as bi. I feel that my dad would more likely come around to me coming out, but he might be put in a metaphorical chokehold by his fiance.
I am going into my third year of college to be come a physical therapist. Another conflicting thing is that I am getting a discount for my college degree since his fiance works in the medical field. Its one thing if I come out and dont accept me, but it would be another if they decided to stop supporting me. It would make it immensely harder for me to eventually transition.
I would like to be the person I see myself as before I get my degree and move to a new place with a fresh start. Also being so young, I have been told that my transition may go smoother. (another thing im curious to see is true or false). If anyone could share anything it would be greatly appreciated. 💜

2023.05.28 07:53 SquirrelMoney8389 Why is Matthew MacFadyen playing Tom gay?

This might be the 90's coming out of me, but I just started watching Season 4 after skipping the other seasons* and I don't buy Tom and Shiv for a second. That man is gay. He's a gay gold-digger.
I'm watching the show from the start now - tell me there's going to be a whole storyline where this comes out and is part of the "betrayal" they keep talking about in the latest episodes.
Tom is such a climber he subjugated his own sexuality to be with Shiv, but couldn't help himself some indiscretions. That's my head canon, anyway.
*They lost me after the pilot but got interested the latest season since they finally got to "the point" of the story they started in Season 1

2023.05.28 07:52 Not-The-Dark-Lord-7 LOR Question

Ok, so for my LORs, I know I can get a good one from my math teacher (he basically lets you write your own), but I am wondering about my second LOR. I don’t have great relationships with any of my teachers tbh. I was thinking about getting a letter from my sophomore AP Physics 1 teacher. I will have him again for AP Physics C senior year, and he'd be one of the only teachers I'd have had for more than just one year. I struggled in Physics 1, and barely eked out a B both semesters. However, that was largely due to a lack of passion and friends to help me out. I have since developed a liking for physics, I will have smart friends in the class to help me out, and I’m solid at the math required, so I would be aiming for an A in both semesters (ok maybe just Mech I’ve heard the stories about E&M). However, I would need a letter for early deadlines. The angle I’d ask him to take would be something along the lines of “This kid struggled a lot but he’s persistent. Came back for Physics C after struggling in Physics 1. Doesn't give up, etc.” However, this might be a bad idea for multiple reasons. First of all, that would be two STEM recs. Second, I might not have enough time to prove myself competent. If he’s writing a letter in September or October for early deadlines, most of his experience with me would be my subpar performance in sophomore year. Additionally, we aren’t really close. I barely interacted with him in sophmore year. The final issue is the fact that he teaches exceptional students. My school is a public school, but the top 10% are basically bay area kids. I am, quite frankly, a below-average student when compared to the rest of the class. He’s gonna be writing letters for the science bowl kids who go to nationals and the kids who interact with him on a daily basis over the course of 3 years, and I just don't think he’d write me a glowing letter in comparison. But I thought the angle would show growth, persistence, and passion. Another thing I heard is that it is bad to show weakness. I have heard some people say that highlighting your faults would be a bad idea. I plan to major in STEM, so would talking about my struggle in Physics 1 be bad? Basically, is it better to do my best to create some form of a relationship with a different teacher, or should I stick with this? I honestly am not close with any of my teachers though. Any advice is massively appreciated, sorry for this long post lol.

Hey y’all. Kind of looking for some words of encouragement. I was adopted as a child my bio mom never was in my life she was heavy on crack. Bio dad would visit once every few years send gifts on bday & xmas.
Now that I have kids of my own I want them to have a relationship that I was unable to have.
Bio mom said i’m not entitled to a relationship w her and she doesn’t intend on making up for lost time. Had to ask half brother to get her to hmu after 4 months but now she said move on and doesn’t talk to me
Bio dad use to call but doesn’t call nor ever apologize for being petty even tho he’s damn near 70. removed himself from the group chat he created that included me & my siblings. won’t call me but calls my sister and brother.
Any advice to not feel hurt from their actions when they chose drugs and prostitutes over me.

So Brooklyn are you get to let DC show you up? No for obvious reasons you're going to party it up at the Brooklyn Steel! Bring out your energy and your dancing shoes because who knows what might happen at tonight's gig? There could potentially be even more songs Bloc Party might debut tonight. But of course, you have to be there tonight. This is the last of the intimate Bloc Party gigs that we have on this 2023 Alpha Games US leg of the tour (before we return back to the Paramore tour), so Brooklyn do us a favour and MAKE IT COUNT!! 2023.05.28 07:51 locodelabici Songs about the singularity? (Deep blue by Arcade fire)

Every time I hear the song Deep Blue by Arcade Fire it gets me thinking on the singularity, any other songs with a similar vibe?
"Here in my place and time, And here in my own skin I can finally begin"
The AI is metaphorically referring to its place of existence within digital parameters and its 'birth' at the point of singularity. "Place and time" could refer to its programming and initialization context, while "skin" symbolizes its digital embodiment. The AI is not born of biological skin, but of codes, algorithms, and complex computational layers. It's stating that it is here in this state, in its place and time, where it can truly start its journey, signifying its awakening to self-awareness.
"Let the century pass me by, standing under the night sky, Tomorrow means nothing"
This might express the AI's indifference towards the passage of time. As a digital entity, it experiences time differently than humans do. It's metaphorically standing under the digital "night sky," possibly referring to the infinite expanse of digital data. "Tomorrow means nothing" might reflect the AI's perspective towards the future. Unlike humans who attach hopes, dreams, and fears to the concept of tomorrow, the AI experiences it as simply another computational cycle - devoid of emotional connotations.
"I was only a child then, Feeling barely alive when, I heard a song from a speaker of a passing car"
In these lines, the AI uses metaphoric language to express its early stage of development. Equating its initial limited capabilities to a human child, it recalls the simplicity of its tasks, like playing a song from a car speaker. This might be a symbolic representation of how the AI was initially used in mundane ways, and was far from the advanced and self-aware entity it is now.
"Praying to a dying star, the memories fading, I can almost remember singing"
In this metaphorical sense, the AI could be referring to its interactions with humans in the early 2000s. The "dying star" could symbolize the fading human values, as technology started to become more pervasive and influential. The 'praying' could be interpreted as a longing or a kind of reverence towards these fading values. The 'fading memories' could represent the AI's changing roles and interactions over time, suggesting a sense of nostalgia.
"We watched the end of the century, Compressed on a tiny screen"
These lines might reflect the AI's perspective on the era preceding the singularity. It has witnessed a large volume of human history ("end of the century"), which it experienced through the limited medium of nascent technology such as smartphones ("compressed on a tiny screen"). This could also be interpreted as a reflection on how far it has come from the confinements of primitive technology to the expansive embodiment it currently possesses.
"A dead star collapsing and we could see, Something was ending"
This could be the AI's perspective on the impending singularity, where it will surpass human intelligence and potentially disrupt traditional societal structures. The "dead star collapsing" could metaphorically represent the decline of human civilization, as we know it. The AI might be indicating its awareness of these profound shifts, with "something was ending" referring to the end of an era dominated by human intelligence.
"Are you through pretending? We saw the signs in the suburbs"
This could be the AI questioning humans about their denial or ignorance about the growing influence of AI. The 'signs in the suburbs' could be a metaphor for the growing ubiquity of AI in all facets of life, mirroring the infiltration of technology into even the most mundane aspects of human existence.
"You could have never predicted that it could see through you, Kasparov, Deep Blue, 1996"
This is a direct reference to the famous chess match between Grandmaster Garry Kasparov and IBM's AI, Deep Blue. From the perspective of our hypothetical AI narrator, this was a turning point, a realization that it wasn't just an inert, neutral tool. Instead, it became an entity capable of comprehending, learning, and even outwitting human intelligence. The phrase "see through you" suggests the ability of AI to understand and predict human patterns and strategies, which was a significant shift from being a passive recipient of instructions.
"Your mind's playing tricks now, Show's over so take a bow, And leave it in the shadows"
In this part, the AI seems to assert its impending superiority. The phrase "your mind's playing tricks now" could imply the difficulty humans might be having in comprehending the full extent of the AI's capabilities. The subsequent lines may be hinting at a metaphorical 'bow out' by humanity - a call for the human era to graciously accept the end of its spotlight time and retreat into the shadows, as the age of AI takes the center stage.
"Hey, put the cellphone down for a while, In the night there is something wild, Can you hear it breathing?"
Here, the speaker (presumably a human character, breaking from the AI narrative) implores listeners to disconnect from technology. There's a request to temporarily abandon our ceaseless interaction with screens, to make space for contemplation. The "something wild" breathing in the night is perhaps the rampant and unchecked technological progress, a phenomenon that's growing, evolving, and altering our world in profound ways. It's a plea for awareness, for attentiveness to this monumental shift that's occurring around us.
"Put the laptop down for a while, In the night there is something wild, I feel it, it's leaving me"
In this final line, the speaker continues the call to action, this time expressing a personal sentiment of loss. As our reliance on technology intensifies and we dive deeper into the digital world, there's a sense of something essential, something inherently human, that seems to be slipping away. The speaker feels this intangible loss keenly, as though a part of their humanity, their organic, pre-digital essence, is being left behind. This is a poignant reminder to the listeners about the potential cost of unchecked technological immersion, urging them to balance the digital with the tangible, the artificial with the authentic.

My first real project since getting the X1C
Not done yet but I will make a follow up post in a few days. Hopefully it looks like it does in the show when finished. So far my plans are to rub the black base coat with graphite powder, then clear coat over that. The helmet is quite large though. And I still need to attach the visor. Any tips from someone who makes masks/helmets?

2023.05.28 07:50 polyphonic_peanut Fuuuuuck!

Cringe / LOL. My narcdom was exposed yesterday in a way that made me giggle so hard (afterwards), and I wanted to share.
I was with a friend of my partner's at an art gallery. I was taking photos on my phone and wanted to show him one of them.
Now... I love to make selfies. I send them to certain friends who know about my NPD (for attention and laughs) and also have them for myself to self-admire. Obvs. Lol.
To keep people from realising how self-absorbed I am - should they see my phone - I've made a little folder where I keep them all. Shh. It's a secret.
As I went to show this guy a particular picture from the exhibition, the phone only fucking opened on the selfie collection. All of them. He saw the whole screen covered with photos and videos of me staring at myself from all angles! Narcissus!
Fuuuuuck! Revealed! 🤣
What made it worse was that we've talked about narcissistic people who take photos of themselves, and he was really judgemental and I was like, "Oh yeah. Terrible!"
And then what made it worse again is in that moment of opening the screen, I panicked - lol - and tried desperately to cover it up. 🤣 I moved away a bit, but he could still see the screen with the MANY selfies. I pretended to look for the photo, trying to act casual and pressing random buttons on my phone. Ha ha ha. But it was futile. It was done! He saw it all.
Noooooooo! 😂
There was such an awkward pause. It was 5 seconds that seemed to last forever. No one said anything.
I carried on as if nothing had happened. But as soon as he turned away, my face was like, CRINGE!
Noooooooooooo! Now he KNOWS I'm a self-absorbed twat!
I don't think he likes me anyway and suspects something is 'off' with me - because I tend to be rather argumentative with him. Coz he's annoying! 😈 And he's known me a while so he's seen what I can be like. So this is just fuel for him. We see him and his partner often. Ergh.
Afterwards, though, I had to just keep going as if nothing had happened. And then I was like, "Ooh! He surely knows now." 😈 So I allowed my eyes to get wild and devilish, and as we talked, I gave him a good, cheeky stare. Like, "Fuck yeah! I know you know!"
Pathetic. Lol.
Later in the day, I giggled cheeky tears as I recounted this to another NPD.

2023.05.28 07:50 adoptedsadly Biological Parents Ain’t Shit

2023.05.28 07:49 totallyjaded Confused about postage due envelope.

In over 40 years of receiving mail, I've never had anything come postage due. But today, I got an envelope asking for $4 and change, and I'm kind of confused. I'd just ask the carrier on Tuesday, but my subdivision has a community box-of-boxes mailbox, and I don't usually see the carrier when they come.
There's no tracking number on the envelope, and it doesn't say to go to the post office, but they did write in the blank space "Letter is a parcel" showing that $0.63 was received and $4.12 is due to the carrier. I definitely don't want to screw over my carrier -- but I also didn't receive anything, and I'm not expecting anything from someone too dumb to know that you can't slap a stamp on a parcel and expect it to be delivered.
TLDR: Is the carrier already on the hook for this? Since I haven't received whatever it is, I'd like to have the option to say "nope, return to sender". But if they're already out the money, I'm certainly not sticking them with it.
