When I got pregnant he wanted to get an abortion but I didn't want that. I ended up not getting one but now he is not involved at all
We weren't in a serious relationship when I got pregnant. He has never met our son. Even after the birth he had no desire to see him. We went to court to figure custody and support could be figured out and I have 100% full legal and physical custody. His name is on the birth certificate but he has no custody and no right to visitation or to make things like medical or education decisions. He didn't want any of that. Every month he pays 125% of the court ordered child support. He says that if I ever marry someone who wants to adopt him he will agree but until then he'll pay support. It's been this way since our son was born.
I'm raising our son all on my own. He is 18 months old now and he has never met him. I am burned out and hate being a single parent. I love my son but I resent him. My family tries to help when they can but I do it most of the time. I would never hurt or neglect our son but I am exhausted all the time. I tried to go to court to give him split custody but because he wanted an abortion and I didn't and he made it clear he would never be involved after the birth. We went to court when our son was 6 months old but because of the previous court ruling (we already went after he was born) and because he pays more support than is court ordered the judge said they can't force him to look after our son. I haven't seen him in almost a year. He also told his friends and family he is a sperm donor and not a father. AITA for being angry that he is a deadbeat dad and the court won't do anything and is forcing me to struggle as a single parent.

I watched the movie last week and I have a few questions, so it would help if you guys could clear things up.

1. Why would E-42 Jeff die? I know it’s a canon event, but how does that happen when this canon event happens to Spider-Man, who doesn’t exist on E-42? My theory is that perhaps the Alchemax events caused an accident and killed Miles’ Dad. Something that doesn’t connect here though, wouldn’t Uncle Aaron have stopped working for kingpin because of the death of his brother? I also feel like it would be a “wake up call” for him and he would’ve quit being the prowler. Doesn’t make sense that he would teach e-42 Miles how to be the Prowler after Aaron had seen all the things he did.
   
2. Why does Prowler even exist in this earth? I don’t know much about his backstory but as far as i know, he was hired by Kingpin because he was creating the supercollider. However, the supercollider wouldn’t have needed to be made in an earth where Spider-Man doesn’t exist, as Kingpin’s wife and child fled and died after seeing him attacking Spider-Man. Therefore, kingpin doesn’t need to create a supercollider, which means Prowler wouldn’t exist.
   

Obviously these 2 points don’t go together, but the first one goes more off what we see in the movie, while the second is pointing out a potential plot hole. I would love to hear your guys’s insights and answers.

I recently started getting into philosophy because I chose to read cool shit. I think that's a lot to ask this question because I know I'm a little naive so any help or guidance is appreciated. You may remember my post from about a month ago about my 6 year old daughter who has constant stomach pain, and high platelets.. along with more odd bloodwork. I took everyones advice and got an appt with a pediatric GI.. it wasn't until the fall.. but thankfully? (kind of I guess) she woke up and was screaming in pain, and couldn't stand.. she ended up in the ER and they pushed the referral faster for us.
during said ER visit, they did an x-ray and they said it was normal, but had some "moderate" stool in the colon, which I've since learned isn't the most accurate way to find stool burden, per the GI. so, they sent us home, telling us to do 17g of miralax for 7 days, and then every 3 days after the first week. she didn't even make it two days with the miralax before she had uncontrollable diarrhea and vomiting.
we got in with the GI and she confirmed that she presents with extremely odd symptoms, but was more concerned about the oranges tint to her vomit and ordered a barium study to ensure that she didn't have malrotation (which, I knew she probably didn't as I had a high risk pregnancy with her and she told me that this is a birth defect and is mostly caught in utero?) she noted this "Laboratory evaluations January 21, 2023 revealed normal electrolytes, albumin 4.7, ALT and AST of 16 and 34, amylase of 68 and a lipase of 24. CRP was 0.5 and vitamin D mildly low at 30.9. Although a tissue transglutaminase antibody IgA was normal at 5 a total IgA was not performed allowing interpretation of this value. CBC showed a white count of 8.86, hematocrit of 39%, and a platelet count of 596,000. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate at that time was 32.

• anxiety (she said this typically doesn't wake kids up at 1am to throw up or scream in pain) and she has seen a psychiatrist and therapist, both of which agreed - she doesn't present with anxiety
• abdominal migraines- she said although they are not rare in kids, the up and downs of my daughters "episodes" aren't consistent with them
• celiac via blood test - although I'm a little concerned as my mother and sister both have celiac.

she said she is extremely concerned about the high sed rate and platelets- but feels that an endoscopy and colonoscopy might be too invasive. all of this to say, how concerned should I be about my child throwing up orange.. every time she throws up? that, plus the constant fatigue & stomach pain have me really uneasy. ii'm just not really sure what to do. if you read all of this, thank you. Let me start this off by saying no, this is not some PTSD-induced incident. No, it's not the stress. No, I'm not crazy and you need to listen to me before, this happens to someone else. It all started several weeks ago during the best day of my life. The day I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. Everything was amazing, we called both of our parents. We threw a party. We celebrated, and we were filled with joy and amazement. Then we went to the doctor, everything was fine with the child, but there was a problem. You see when I was 8, I was diagnosed with a generalized anxiety disorder and prescribed Alprazolam. This could cause complications with the pregnancy, and I could no longer take the drug. Instead, I would swap over to a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor that would still work without affecting my baby. So, I swapped over to the new medication and went on with my life. Now it didn't work as well as the previous ones and I would still find myself being overwhelmed, but I could cope with it.

During all this Greg, my husband, was amazing. He did everything to help make my life easier, from the big things like taking over most chores around the house to small things like rubbing my feet after a long day at work, just staring into the deep wells of his bright sky-blue eyes would make my worries disappear, he was my rock. Then we got an unexpected phone call. Greg’s father, Travis had a nasty fall in his garage, damaging his spinal cord. He needed emergency surgery and even in the best case, he would stay wheelchair-bound for several months. Travis lives alone down in Florida and he had no one to take care of him. And then one particularly stormy night, as I was coming home from work, The rain was cascading down it seemed like it was some sort of torrential rainfall or some terrifying storm that was blowing in. The wind was howling. Thunder cracked in the distance. A freezing gust breeze blew through the neighborhood. The trees swayed, bent, and cracked under the weight of that wind. It seemed like it would be one hell of a storm. And then I saw it. Sitting in the corner of the driveway. This little cat. It was a tiny black cat. And he looked so small, and drenched by this torrential downpour. And I felt so bad for the little guy. He must be so cold. So I got out of the car. Quickly ran over to him and surprisingly, he didn't flinch or run away. He just sat there staring at me with those large amber eyes. I quickly scooped him up into my arms and carried him inside. He looked a bit malnourished. He was thin and scrawny, with his fur matted against his body, completely soaked. So I got out my hair dryer and a towel. I set it to a low heat and dried the cat. I then got him some food, an old can of tuna we had in the cupboard. Now at first, the cat was somewhat catatonic. It seemed that the severe cold and malnourishment left him in a bit of a state. But I tried to be very gentle gave him some food and I put him in an old cardboard box with a blanket inside, and left him alone so he could rest.

After my escapades with this animal, I made myself a quick microwaved dinner, turned on the TV, sat down, and flipped to one of my shows. Eventually, the pictures on the screen began to blur as my eyes began to droop down, with the relaxing pitter-patter of the rainfall and howling winds outside. As my eyelids drooped lower and lower down I drifted off into dreams.

But this dream was different. it was a strange dream, something I'd never felt before. And I awoke with a start, terrified. My heart was beating out of my chest and my breath was coming hard and fast. It was a nightmare like I've never felt before. Now, I don't remember any monsters or people hunting me or anything like that, not even any visual from the dream. The only thing that I could recall. Was a feeling of something watching me, something very, very hungry watching. And I jerked open my eyes looking around in a panic. And froze, as my blood ran cold, sitting next to me on the couch was that cat. Staring up at me with those large amber eyes, but these eyes weren’t normal. There was something wrong with them. Something all too human in them. I freaked out, jumped up, and backed away from it. Now don't judge me too hard for this, But I ran out of the room, opened the front door, grabbed a broom from the cupboard, and chased the cat out of my house into the dark cold rainstorm. Then I slammed the door behind me locking it tight. Only when that strange animal was outside could I relax again. Eventually, when I sat back on the couch and started thinking it all through, I felt so stupid. It was just a cat. That weird human-like intelligence behind its eyes, that that was just my imagination, just something left over from that nightmare and I honestly reacted badly and I shouldn't have chased him out. Well, it's too late now, and after about an hour of sitting on the couch again and watching some more shows, I eventually fell asleep again.

Now when I woke up in the morning, I had all but forgotten of the cat. So I woke up, got off the couch, and did my normal morning routine. I had a shower, got dressed, made myself some breakfast, and then got ready to leave. When I reached for the handle to open the front door, something was wrong. I heard something moving outside the door. It wasn't big, it wasn't a loud sound. It was as if some small animal had started running away from my front door, and I remember the cat and felt really bad. The poor animal must have been out there all night trying to avoid the rainstorm. I could hear him running away, and I couldn't do much at this point. So I opened the door, took my keys, and went to work. From then on though it kept happening. Every time got home from work I would hear the cat around, always outside of my eyesight, but I could always hear him there in the background. When I would leave for work, he would run away from the front door. When I got back, he would run away into the bushes in the corner of the driveway. I didn't really see the cat again, not for at least two weeks. But I could always hear him, and it bothered the hell out of me. I did try to befriend him again. Getting some catnip from a local pet store and some cat food which I left outside. I hoped maybe I could repair the damage I did to my relationship with this cat. But things didn't get better. In fact, they got a lot worse.

But eventually, I did see the cat again. I was making dinner for myself, and outside the window of the kitchen, I saw it sitting there in the corner in the shadows. Those large amber eyes stared up at me from the bushes. And it filled me with some strange dread. Those eyes look wrong. The moment our eyes met he bolted back into the shadows, disappearing from my view. And this pattern continued. At times when I would think I was alone, I would get this strange feeling of being watched. I went I would take the initiative and start searching. I would always, invariably find those large amber eyes staring at me. Through a window, or a crack in the door. The only place I felt safe was in my bedroom. So I stopped watching TV at night. And then even that changed. You see, after a particularly bad day at work when I was feeling so overwhelmed. I got home, I got in bed and I just wanted to fall asleep and forget the world. Then I heard some scratching. That wasn't possible. I was on the second floor of the house. There was a window, but there were no trees outside of it. There was no easy access to it. It isn't something you could easily climb or access. Yet I heard something at that window. And when I looked over, I saw a pair of large amber eyes staring at me. Which then bolted, dropping two stories to the ground miraculously and then running off into the shadows again. This was not possible. However, the hell did it get to my window?

At that point, I had had enough. I called the pest control specialist and told them there was a stray cat in my yard and I wanted it gone. Their large, burly man came one day in a beat-up truck. Screeched down the driveway, pulling in and stopping for Huff. The man peeled himself out of the car a large and overweight man that seemed covered in scratches and scars from who knows what. He seemed perfect for what I needed. I told him there was this cat and I needed it to go anyway, doesn't matter how. He looked at me and I could tell he was thinking I was on hysteric Karen, but I didn't care. He said with a grunt. Sure, I'll handle it. I'll put up some traps outside. It’ll be gone in the morning.

But the strange thing was I never did see that man again. He did place some traps around my yard, but he never did collect them. I called his company's number, but nobody ever answered, and I had to assume he'd probably fled town for some or another reason and forgotten all about my job. but to his credit, the cat didn't show up again. At least not for the next week. But when he did return it was so much worse. You see, he stopped hiding as much from me. I would catch him watching me more often, and when our eyes met, he would wait for a bit, watch, and turn around and walk away. The more he watched me, the more I watched him back, and the more I noticed strange things about it. Yes, it had those strange human-like eyes, but there was more to it. Now that I started paying attention, I noticed that its front paws were longer than they should be. They honestly look a lot like the length of human arms would be. it just tucked them into his fur so you don't notice normally. Then there were its paws, I could swear it looked like there were almost thumb-like growths on the side of them.

Honestly, at that point I was pretty scared, so I called another pest control specialist. Which sent out another person. After a few days, they told me there were no cats around, they couldn't find anything and there was nothing to remove. Bloody idiot. So I tried another company and then another. At that point, I had tried at least seven different pest control agents and none of them could find this bizarre cat. But strangely at this point was starting to get less scared of the creature, it did deeply disturb me, but at the same time, it was always at a distance. It never approached me. Sure, it did watch me, and that scared me. But it never did anything. So even though I saw it, I stopped feeling threatened by it. I just felt that it was wrong. So, I decided that I would put it out of my head that this was a source of stress I didn't need and I would just ignore the animal and forget about it.

It largely helped. Even though I kept seeing the creature, I stopped getting scared and I stopped really doing anything about it. I just figured that it's a weird cat and I'll leave it alone. But that was a mistake. I should have gotten the hell out of there. I should have gotten a gun and shot the bloody thing. I don't know what I should have done, but I shouldn't have done what I did. Because the cat started getting more comfortable, it stopped running when it caught my gaze. It stopped fleeing every time I was around it. I would find it watching me for longer, but I just kept ignoring it. And then one night, I awoke in the early morning, but something was very, very wrong. I opened my eyes and looked around the room. It was dark, but I could still see a faint light coming in from the curtains. But I couldn't move.

My arms wouldn't respond. My legs didn't move. I couldn't roll over or move my head. I could just lie there and blink. Now at first, I panicked, and I was freaking out, I tried desperately to figure out what was happening. But after a few minutes, I realized this had happened before. When I was a child. There were a few nights when I was affected by sleep paralysis. Where I would wake up and for a few minutes I wouldn't be able to move until eventually I would regain control of my body and I'd be fine. So, I just have to wait it out and not stress.

So, I lay there for a few seconds. Until a sound, broke the dead silence of the night. The sharp sound of breaking glass, but no footsteps, no sounds of people, nothing like that. It was just breaking glass. And then? The door handle moved. But there were no sounds of footsteps, just the rattle of the handle. The door slowly pushed open with a loud creek as a small black form slithered into the room. A pair of glowing amber eyes caught my gaze, and I could swear you could see a small furry grin appear on its catlike muzzle. At that moment, I could see it in his eyes. Not just a human-like intelligence, but a hunger? Next, the creature did something so bizarre, it stood up on its hind legs and slowly with the grace of an old-timey gentleman sauntered over to the bed, disappearing from my view. Then something slithered up onto the bed underneath the covers. I could see it, I couldn’t move or even scream, but I could hear the crinkle of the bed sheets as it pushed its way toward me. Then an excruciating pain filled my stomach, the pain was unbearable and never-ending it felt like something was tunneling through my flesh until eventually, I blacked out.

I awoke in a blood-soaked bed; with a shaky hand, I grabbed my cell phone and dialed an ambulance. After hours of tests, the doctors told me, I had a sleep paralysis incident, leading to a panic attack which caused a miscarriage. I was in a horrible state, full of fear and a deep hatred of that monster, I wanted nothing more than revenge. So, I left the hospital and went to a gun store. Apparently, I couldn’t get a gun that day, but I could get a crossbow, So I bought what I could get, a hunting crossbow with some bolts, and headed home. But that thing didn’t show up. I waited for hours. So I sat down at my computer and started writing this, crossbow at my side and waiting for the familiar feeling of being watched. After hours I finally did feel it again and looked up out my window to see not one but two pairs of eyes. One glowing amber pair and one sky-blue pair, the exact same shade of sky-blue I’ve seen a thousand times before. I froze staring at the uncanny human intelligence of the sky-blue eyes and felt a strange familiarity to it. After a few seconds, the pair fled back into the shadows leaving me sitting here in tears. What should I do?

I was born deaf due to some abnormalities with my ears. After two surgeries, I was able to hear at age 4. For my whole life I’ve been told by every doctor that my hearing is not permanent and due to the way my ears are shaped and how scarred they are from the surgeries, I will lose my hearing faster than those my age. So I knew I would lose it eventually, and I’ve slowly become more and more okay with the idea of being completely deaf at maybe age 40. But Im 24 and my hearing has taken a turn for the worst. Suddenly I’m having a rapid decline and my doctors no longer think I will make it to 40 being able to hear. The new prediction is I will most likely be deaf before I’m 30. I’ve done it before so I know I can do it again, and I’m willing to learn sign language (have been learning), but I’m still scared. I have so much trauma from my childhood and from being deaf (mainly an abusive mom who saw me as less than because of me being deaf, she said she never wanted a disabled child).
What can I do to ease the nerves? To make it easier to live like this? How can I not be terrified?

I'm having so much trouble with the difficulty of this game. I am playing a sorcerer, and it's hard to tell what's worse: my defense or my damage output. I'm extremely squishy, and I have a hard time doing enough damage. I was on World Tier 1 and having trouble. So I upgraded a bunch of gear and it got better. I decided to give Tier 2 a try, since I want to play this game with a friend, and he's on Tier 3 already.
So, after upgrading everything, and going to Tier 2, I was surviving. It was taking a long time to get through battles, because my damage output was still not great, but I was surviving, anyway. Somehow, I made it all the way through, and killed Lilith and beat the game's story.
I'm now level 48, and I was told I need to be level 50 to do the Capstone Dungeon to get to Tier 3. So I figured I'd clean up some side quests to get to 50. I go to the Bear Clan, where I've already done all the quests to unlock the final dungeon, where you accompany the chief into the ice cave. And holy shit. Suddenly these enemies are all hitting WAY harder than before I beat the story. I struggle all the way through the dungeon, and even though I have a bad feeling about it, I decide to take on the boss. No other enemy has hit as hard as this one. One hit completely strips off my Ice Armor. I'm running around like a madman, tossing out a hydra and the occasional chain lightning, managing to stay alive, with some near misses. I finally get the boss down to his last health bar segment. He sends out a swarm of his little homing fireball things. I can't dodge all of them. One immediately takes out my ice armor. The second hit takes me down to only about a third of my health. I hit the potion, but before it can even really heal me, a third hit kills me.
Was the difficulty supposed to spike so high? I didn't even gain a level between Lilith and this dungeon boss. He hits so much harder it's not even funny. I know I'm not great at the game, but this difficulty seems impossible to me. How is everyone else managing so much easier? I must be doing something wrong, but I literally have no idea what it is.

The Ukraine War is about Russia repossessing alien technology left behind in Ukraine at the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. Hear me out.
Legitimate, credible UFO sightings go back to at least 1947, though I think we would all agree that these sightings have gone on for a much longer amount of time. I could digress about this subject, but let's take an approach of healthy skepticism, referencing generally accepted sources. Anywho, the article previously linked references Project Blue Book, which investigated UFO activity and conveniently closed down in 1969 (though we know that investigations into UFOs has clearly continued on into present day).
We could speculate wildly that the Nazis were involved, but lets take a conservative approach and trust David Grusch when he says we are in an 80-years arms race. That puts this arms race to reverse engineer UFO technology to approximately circa 1960s. Surely, it could go further back than that but at the very least it began in the 60's, post nuclear weapons and the first nuclear reactor.
So, in our conspiracy timeline, we have an 80's year arms race to reverse engineer UFO tech. In established reality, we had plenty of other insane races such as the space race to get to the moon, the nuclear arms race, etc. If we are to believe in the existence of a UFO-race, there must be insane things going on behind the scenes. What would you do if you were trying to reverse-engineer UFO tech? Surely, you would leverage the most cutting edge technology (nuclear tech) to your advantage.
Let's fast forward a bit, the USSR dissolves in 1991. Many constituent states break apart, notably Belarus and Ukraine, two nations with possibly the closest ties to Russia historically. Surely it is not only a shock that the USSR breaks apart, but notably that Ukraine, a founding member of the USSR, becomes independent. Russia staked a long-term future in Ukraine, notably with the creation of 5 nuclear power plants pre-1991. With the exception of Chernobyl (still working on a theory about that catastrophe), there are 4 plants still operating, and despite being the poorest country in Europe, they are #3 in nuclear generation as a % share of total energy output, second only to France/Slovakia (see here and here (51%). How is one of the poorest nations in Europe leading the charge in nuclear energy generation? It is only spurred on by a historical Russian strategy - dumping tons of nuclear tech into Ukraine.
As stated above, Russia did not anticipate Ukraine leaving the USSR. When the USSR broke apart, chaos ensued and many documents were leaked, including KGB documents recovered by the CIA about UFO sightings, which mentions a group sighting where only 2 soldiers survived by 'standing in the shade' when a bright light flashed. This sounds oddly similar to the case of Hisashi Ouchi, a Japanese man who died after a nuclear reaction went hot resulting in a bright flash of light. You can read up more about how his exposed arm was most severely affected by the nuclear flash, but I have to stay on topic.
Gorbachev even apparently 'joked' with Reagan about pausing the Cold War in case of alien invasion. Well, the cold war ended nonetheless in 1991, with Russia's investments in Ukraine a significant loss. If we are to believe Grusch's claims and real-world outcomes, it seems as though Russia was heavily investing into nuclear tech, possibly as a means of cracking the alien tech code, if you will. There are plenty of nuclear-UFO connections, going as far back as Roswell. It's not too far fetched to think Russia was doing dangerous experimentation with nuclear reactors and alien technology, 'offshoring' it to Ukraine, so at the very least if anything should meltdown (as it did), it would be a little ways from central Russia.
I have a background in political science, and post-Cold War era is typically referred to as "the Long Peace," a time period where there is little war. The primary factor contributing to this is that war makes little economic sense. This is very well true today, as globalization and economies become increasingly interconnected. So then, the looming question that I think everyone has pondered over the past year - why did Russia invade Ukraine? This is after they voluntarily gave up 'nuclear arms' to Russia in exchange for a promise to never invade.
It doesn't make economic sense, the sanctions are crippling Russia and they have exposed their army as somewhat lackluster. Their nuclear threats are hollow. We can speculate that Putin is an insane old man, with delusions of grandeur, but can he really spur a nation of 143 million to war in the modern era over rose-colored glasses of the old Russian empire?
Russia invaded Ukraine to reclaim abandoned UFO technology which was left behind at the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. Russia was heavily banking on nuclear technology as being the key to crack the code of alien tech, and placed heavy bids in Chernobyl and Zaporizhzhia. When Russia invaded, they swiftly captured Chernobyl, only ~60 miles from Kyiv, before retreating back into Russia. Hey Guys! M20 here, and i was riding in my car recently and simply coughed kind of hard for a second. Literally just on my own spit.

Since rewatching Revenge of the Sith about a year ago I've come to appreciate it more in a lot of ways. In particular I've warmed up to the idea of Anakin's fall to the dark side being motivated by wanting the power to save Padmé, because of his own fear of losing people, rather than being a simple "seduced by power for power's sake" situation as it was presented in the original trilogy. It's a much more interesting concept... in theory, anyway. There are still two major problems with its execution:

1. It overshadows everything else motivating Anakin's choice to turn against the Jedi and join the dark side.
2. Anakin goes full-on evil far too quickly, leaping right from panicked despair over helping kill Mace Windu to slaughtering little kids in the space of an hour or so.
3. Anakin seems to lose his original motivation almost immediately, as is particularly shown in his last conversation with Padmé on Mustafar.

What I want to do here is not a complete rewrite or reimagining. It's just an adjustment of all the stuff that's already there in Revenge of the Sith but not used to its full potential.
The first really important change I'll make is in the scene where Palpatine reveals himself to Anakin as the Sith lord. Rather than just being like "Join me and I can save Padmé", Palpatine should be doing everything he can to reinforce the trust they'd already established with each other: saying "All I want is to bring order and security to the galaxy", and "In all the years we have known each other I have never lied to you", and so on. Anakin is still conflicted, so he still reports Palpatine to the Jedi, but he needs to be able to have genuine loyalty to Palpatine rather than just making it an obvious deal-with-the-devil situation.
So when Anakin walks in on the Mace-vs-Palpatine duel, it should be Anakin himself who kills Mace Windu outright rather than just cutting his hand off and having Palpatine finish the job with Force-lightning. It needs to be Anakin's deliberate choice to side with Palpatine over the Jedi Order, out of the genuine belief that the Jedi had been holding him back and manipulating him, and that they'd been plotting to take over the Republic (which, as we see in the movie, isn't entirely false) and so need to be completely purged root-and-branch. Anakin should not appear to be throwing himself on Palpatine's mercy: he's long believed Palpatine to be wise and just, and now he's going all-in on that existing loyalty.
So Anakin (who notably doesn't have his Sith name yet) is sent to the Jedi Temple – but his role is to destroy the defences on the Temple gates, so that the clone troopers can pour in and do the dirty work of massacring everyone inside. As I said before, Anakin isn't that far gone yet: he's only been a Sith apprentice for about an hour.
We'll then have the brief scene that night with Anakin and Padmé before he leaves Coruscant to go slaughter the remaining Separatist leadership (who are not on Mustafar, but elsewhere). And the next day, Palpatine announces the founding of the Empire.
And now, crucially, we'll skip forward in time a few months. Anakin is now hunting down the remaining Jedi who initially escaped Order 66, and now he's progressed to killing kids: we'll actually see him cut down a Master and Padawan. He's using the Sith name of Darth Vader and fighting with a red lightsaber – and he's wearing the familiar Vader mask with voice-changer, but with a black hooded robe rather than the suit and stackhat. Meanwhile, Padmé is now very close to being due, and has formed a secret political alliance with Bail Organa and Mon Mothma. She and Anakin have grown distant; their last conversation is not unlike their last one from the movie except with no Force-choking, and it ends with them at an impasse. Anakin also leaves his old blue lightsaber with her now, saying that their unborn child can wield it in the glorious new society they will build.
Anakin has to leave now, though, because Obi-Wan has been on the run all this time and has just been tracked down to Mustafar. Anakin starts off wearing the Vader mask but takes it off almost immediately. He thinks that Obi-Wan has been sadly misguided by the Jedi Order all his life, which makes him dangerous to the security of the Empire regardless of their personal history together. Their duel ends a bit differently, as they make their way up to the rim of a volcano – Obi-Wan ends up stabbing Anakin right though the chest, pretty much destroying his lungs and severing his spine; Anakin then falls into the volcano, lands on an outcropping in the crater and is motionless as he catches fire, making it seem to Obi-Wan that he's got to be dead. When Palpatine arrives and sees the state of Anakin he says something like "We'll salvage what we can". Then, when Anakin is revived in the Vader suit, Palpatine says something like "Do you remember who you are?" and Vader replies "I am... Darth Vader." It's a more subtle sign that despite Anakin's original motivation being his fear of loss, his actions have caused him to lose everything including his own identity. It also preserves a bit of mystery for the viewer watching chronologically: exactly what is the deal with Vader anyway? Does he remember his life as Anakin at all? Was he saved from death by Darth Plagueis's thing that Palpatine had been talking about earlier? Given that Palpatine said "salvage", could Vader just be Anakin's clone? These questions are set up to be answered in The Empire Strikes Back confirming that he is Anakin and remembers everything.
Speaking of preserving mystery, the twins are not named on screen in this movie. Well, Luke can be, but Leia definitely isn't. Padmé is quickly taken away from Coruscant as soon as the Mustafar duel happens. She doesn't die, but after Anakin's apparent death she's in a deep depression and just reacts numbly when she's told that the twins need to be separated for their own protection. We know that Luke will go to his uncle and aunt; we don't explicitly find out where Leia and Padmé will go into hiding, only that Bail Organa will arrange it.
Some other points:

• That balcony scene with the "So love has blinded you?" banter does more harm than good to build up their relationship and can be cut.
• The deleted scene where Yoda talks with Qui-Gon's spirit ought to be left in.
• I kind of like the idea of post-Mustafar Obi-Wan, Padmé, Yoda and Bail Organa all reuniting on Dagobah, and that being the planet where the twins were born, rather than some generic moonbase. Mostly because of the part in The Empire Strikes Back when Luke says "There's something familiar about this place..."
• We don't need to see the Death Star under construction: it just raises too many questions. Perhaps we can just see the hologram of the plans again.

(I originally posted this fix about a year ago, the day after rewatching Revenge of the Sith for the first time in years, but it was soon removed because it was the wrong day of the week. I've only made a few changes to wording: the ideas are the same. Before the original post was removed a commenter explained the intention behind how the actual movie structured Anakin's fall to the dark side, how it was all about his fear overcoming his capacity for love and how his immediate leap to committing atrocities was an expression of his self-loathing et cetera et cetera – and okay, I understand, but I honestly think that was dumb and melodramatic and not how people actually behave, so I'm changing it.)

Preamble (feel free to skip)

Firstly, I would like to apologise for posting a topic like this; I have read through many of the "Is this the solution to the one-way speed of light?" threads already posted on this subreddit and have seen the comments gradually growing more exasperated at having to deal with yet another thread about this, so I would like to say sorry for adding to that. I promise that, if I was smart enough to figure out myself why this wouldn't work, then I wouldn't post it here.
Secondly, I would like to clarify that I don't think that this is a solution. I have posted it here because the people here seem to be better-educated than me and have a more indepth knowledge of the physics surrounding the problem, and so would be more likely to help me understand why this wouldn't work, if that makes sense?
Thirdly, this doesn't contain a way to measure the one-way speed of light, just an attempt to try and determine if there is a discrepancy in the one-way speed of light in different directions. (See point 6 below)

The Problem™ (or my understanding of it)

In the video that Veritasium posted, he set up a hypothetical scenario, within which there were some guidelines on what is possible within this hypothetical scenario:
(1) There is a way to fire a laser over 1km of perfect vacuum

1:47 - "Imagine you have a laser that can fire a beam through a perfect vacuum for 1km."

(2) Electronics that are "together" can be synced perfectly.

2:42 - "Start with the clocks together and sync them up first."

(3) Clocks can react instantaneously to the presence of laser light:

1:53 - "Start a timer the instant you fire the laser beam, and then, exactly when it hits the end, stop the clock."
2:08 - "OK, so you need two clocks: one at the laser and one at the end which stops automatically when it detects the laser light."

There are also guidelines on what is not possible within this hypothetical scenario:
(4) Electronics cannot be synced "remotely"/at a distance.

2:19 - "You could connect them via a wire and send a pulse from one to the other, but that pulse will travel at the speed of light so it will arrive with a time delay."

(5) Electronics that move relative to one-another are no longer synced.

2:53 - "The clock at the finish line was moving with respect to the one at the start, and special relativity tells us: moving clocks tick slow relative to stationary observers."
10:42 - "How about starting with synchronised clocks in the middle and moving them apart with equal and opposite speeds? [...] This only works if the speed of light in each direction is the same; if the speed of light depends on direction, then so does time dilation."

Finally, there is the question being posed:
(6) The broader question is whether or not you could figure out there was a discrepancy in the one-way speed of light in different directions, rather than what the one-way speed of light is in a given direction:

4:21 - "What if the speed of light in this direction is from the speed of light in this direction?" 4:33 - "The question is: could you figure it out?"

Therefore, any "solution" proposed should be compatible with these guidelines.
I acknowledge that some of these are impractical (like a km of perfect vacuum) or otherwise not actually possible (such as the "instantaneous reaction" of clocks, etc.), and their impact on any actual measurements in the real world might be more than negligible (although I'm not sure to what degree this is true).

Some thoughts on a possible "solution"

Here is a rough diagram of the "solution" that I am suggesting.

On the "start" end of the 1km stretch, there is a pair of lasers:

• The lasers are identical in specification.
• They are positioned alongside one-another, with their beams parallel to one another.
• The lasers are synced to fire their beams at exactly the same instant.
• The lasers, once synced, are not moved with respect to one-another.

At the "finish" end of the 1km stretch, there is a pair of clocks/timers:

• The timers are identical in specification.
• The timers can react instantaneously in the presence of laser light.
• The timers are positioned alongside one-another and are lined up to match the two lasers 1km away.
• The timers are synced so that their clock measurements are identical.
• The timers, once synced, are not moved with respect to one-another.

In the 1km stretch itself:

• The stretch is exactly 1km.
• As in the video, there is a perfect vacuum between the laser and the timer, and this remains the case for the first of the two laser beams.
• For the second laser beam, rather than a vacuum, there is a medium placed inbetween the laser and the timer:
  • The refractive index of the medium is greater than one.
  • The medium is flawlessly homogenous, giving it a constant refractive index along its length.
  • The laser is lined up with the medium in such a way that the angle of incidence/refraction is 0° (such that the path the laser follows is the same as if the medium were not there).

Finally, for the complete setup:

• It has 3DoF (can be rotated/reoriented freely in space).
• It can be locked securely into any orientation selected for the duration of the experiment.

The experiment would then be to fire both lasers, note the time difference between the two timers, then repeat in different direction(s) to see if the time difference is the same across all of them or not.

NOTE: This is based solely on my understanding that the speed of light through a medium is a fixed fraction of the speed of light through a vacuum in that direction (e.g. for a medium with a refractive index of 2, the speed of light through the medium would be half the speed in a vacuum). This may be entirely incorrect.

Examples:

For these examples, the refractive index of the medium is 2.
SCENARIO 1: In the case where the speed of light in a vacuum in the measured direction is c, the time difference measured would be 3,335.641 ns
SCENARIO 2: In the case where the speed of light in a vacuum in the measured direction is 0.8c, the time difference measured would be 4,167.008 ns
SCENARIO 3: In the case where the speed of light in a vacuum in the measured direction is 1.2c, the time difference measured would be 2,779.805 ns
Basically, if there is a difference in the speed of light between two given directions, then there should be a difference in the time difference measured between the two timers in each of the directions.
This solution has been stuck in my head for about a year now and I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work (outside of the practical stuff like constructing a 1km freely-rotating perfect vacuum chamber, etc.), so I have decided to post it so that I can find out why it won't work and free up the part of my brain that's been occupied by this solution.

TL;DR:

Shoot two synchronised lasers parallel to one-another simultaneously -- one across a vacuum and the other through a medium -- towards two synchronised timers and measure the difference in time it takes for the two beams to arrive at the timers. Reorient the whole setup and repeat. If there's a disparity, it may be due to differences in the speed of light in different directions. If not, then I guess the speed of light is the same in the two directions?

If you started EP early and never went back to nursing, even if you could, do you regret it at all?
My daughter had a tight, tense little jaw that made for a painful, shallow latch from the beginning. Less than a week pp, I switched to EP because my nipples were destroyed, I was dreading each feed, and I found pumping easy.
I'm currently 7 weeks pp and I keep having friends and family ask if I'm going to try to nurse again (assuming my baby's jaw has chilled out a bit with time and age). I just feel so weird admitting that I don't even want to anymore. I have briefly tried once or twice over the past few months and I didn't like it at all. One side was fine and one was still kind of painful, but the whole thing just felt weird as heck. At the end of the day, I just I like the ease of a bottle and knowing exactly how many ounces my baby is taking in each feed and each day. I like being able to go places with just my pump and leave my husband or parents to watch and feed her. I like knowing that the transition will be seamless when I go back to work in a few months.
Every EP'er I know in real life has been more of the "EP is so terrible and difficult; I did everything I possibly could to return to nursing" mindset, and I don't know if I'm missing something because I don't feel like that at all. The idea of trying to nurse and starting over in terms of getting used to everything just feels daunting and pointless. And as much as it bothers me to say it, direct feeding now feels kind of ick and unnatural to me.
But I also recognize that I'm only two months into EP with a goal of 12 months. Will EP wear me down more than I'm expecting? Am I being shortsighted here? Or do I just acknowledge that this is unconventional but it works for me and I might as well roll with it?

As I was leaving the parking brake light came on, I heard a noise and the light wouldn’t turn off. Parking brake disengaged, and car isn’t acting different.

Okay we for the background story me and my boyfriend were in a debt of around 6000$ and were manifesting money to pay it back we were listening to some money subs from a few days.
Yesterday night a moth(which is considered as our ancestors in India) came into our room and vanished for a few hours. But then at night i wokeup was feeling hot so decided to take a quick shower. And saw that moth again which flew from my boyfriend's legs to his head, landed in his head (in india our elders or ancestors pat their hands on our head and give us blessings) for a few seconds and vanished inside a room again. We knew what it meant and was very happy and slept thinking our wish will come true.
We have been purchasing lottery tickets from last 4-5 months never won anything , and suddenly when we wokeup today morning we saw a notification of 5000$ on our bank account. We LITERALLY cried with happiness.
