I (26F) have been married to my spouse (35NB) for over a year, together 3 years. We were always the cutest couple, everybody's favorite wedding they'd ever been to, the exemplary relationship, etc. Since about this January a bunch of things are different. There was an incident where they unintentionally crossed a physical boundary of mine (that we'd worked on before and they'd forgotten) that I received as very violating unwanted touch, so I've been recoiling from their touch and experiencing increasingly severe trauma responses in our home ever since. Efforts on their part to re-engage with touch have been similarly misguided and have made it worse. Now we don't touch at all most of the time, even though touch is both of our love languages. End of March, they read my therapy journal, which was a whole other thing that blew up. They got mad at me for a lot of relationship concerns I had written in there (and felt hurt, understandably, for the untactful way in which these concerns were scribbled down, as one does in one's own journal.) That all fucked our life up for months. Beyond those and other more mundane communication issues and such, there are a couple looming things like, their career needs to be in this city and mine can't. (We got the call that they got the job in this city the day after the wedding, literally the first morning of the honeymoon; they say we moved here for me, and us, but it was because I wanted them to have their dream job, and the city seemed cool.) And, I had been discovering/asserting more about my sexual curiosities and desires, which for various reasons I couldn't have in the relationship (and now we're not touching at all anyway, cuz of the aforementioned incident(s)). We're in counseling, and we've been talking ourselves, and I've been talking with my own therapist, but all I end up feeling like is leave leave leave. I don't have enough resources on my own to leave without help/telling anyone, and I'm not looking forward to shattering everyone's image of The World's Most Perfect Couple. All this weighs on me every day and I'm reaching a breaking point, I just don't know what that will be. I worry it won't be great. 🫠🥀

I am a student at a university where I am living on campus over the summer to work for housing. I recently have gotten an emotional support dog which I have a letter from a licensed professional prescribing. I didn’t have the letter for the first three days that she was on campus because I couldn’t get an appointment with my therapist for the letter until the next week which caused them to tell me I had 24 hours to get her out. I took off work for the entire week and left for my sisters house in another state. my ESA letter has been submitted over a week ago now and I have been living on campus again since 3 days after it was sent.
the other day I got an email from the housing director (who is my boss) telling me that we will have a conduct meeting on monday to talk about the time when I didn’t have the letter. she also said that my dog isn’t allowed to stay with me until the request is approved. I have major anxiety and this is really stressing me out because I don’t have anyone in the state who can watch her since I’m not from here and I don’t know how long it will take them to approve my request. the school’s policy only “recommends” that the letter is approved before an ESA comes to stay with you. I also know that legally landlords aren’t allowed to evict you or an ESA unless the animal is a danger or uncontrolled. my dog is teething because she is a very young pomeranian puppy but she doesn’t attack or bite maliciously and is slowly stopping to do anything but nibble. she is already very good about using the bathroom outside and is very quiet and well behaved. I haven’t left campus because I figured the letter would be approved by now and was under the impression that I can’t be told to leave if the animal is an ESA.
today an RA came to my door and told my roommate that my ESA needs to be out by today. this feels like targeted bullying and the language they have been using in the situation carefully leaves out what they will do if I don’t get rid of my dog. I have a feeling it’s because of the legality of the situation and they are just trying to intimidate me. I am scared to press on the issue because the hall director is my boss and I don’t want to face consequences at work. are they allowed to do any of this and how should I handle the situation from here?

How do you do, fellow carcinomies?
I recently went into remission from stage 4 melanoma, and it was a much quicker treatment time than I had anticipated. Past the obvious shock and elation, it gives me a lot more time in both the near and long-term future to pursue things I care about.
One of those things has become advocacy for cancer patients and the chronically ill. I've started a vlog that is somewhat dedicated to that, I'm volunteering at my oncology clinic, and now I'm looking to start an organization that formally creates resources for patients.
I don't have an org. structure yet, but that part is less important to me. I also don't want to base my early focus solely on my own anecdotal time(s) with cancer; obviously there's a big, diverse world of people that need different kinds of help.
There are some easy/obvious services or assistance points such as:
--Financial aid --Food and household goods --Medicinal or prescription aid --Billing advocacy --Transportation --Mental health services --Caretaking & scheduling --Support groups
There are also some less overt things like having other patients to talk to, maybe some sort of meetups, or resources on specific treatments/side effects.
I'm compiling my own list, but would love to hear about things that would help or could have helped you get through whatever situation you were in - whether it's as a patient, caretaker, family member, or whatever.

I grew up with 2 nparents.
My siblings often speak of the narcissism with disgust and how they hate it, but I've realized pretty recently that I seem to be the only out of four children who doesn't seem to be following in their footsteps, so to speak.
I have a niece staying with me for the summer who confides in me deeply, she is currently parented by a sibling who isn't her biological parent, because her parents mental health issues and self absorption lead to a loss of custody of her and her brother. (Brother lives separately with other family)
I did most of the caretaking during their time with their bioparent/my sibling, because they were often dumped on my doorstep for my sibling to take off and do whatever. So we are very close, though I didn't have the means to fight for custody of them when CPS became involved.
Except now I am hearing some shocking things about my sibling who is currently raising her.
They moved in a new significant other who will barely speak to my niece. My niece says she feels they should be closer with my caretaking sibling after all this time, but they aren't. My niece also isn't allowed to speak against my siblings biological children, no matter how out of line they may be. She says my sibling will not parent them, and simply ignores bad behavior as if they don't notice it. Sibling will lash out defensively at anyone who does acknowledge it.
She also detailed to me a situation that sounds like "The Golden Child Syndrome" in which my sibling has a very clear favorite child, often proclaiming how much that child is like themself.
The favoritism has been noticed by others in the family, and quietly discussed at times alongside the child's tendency to be very self centered and throw fits and tantrums to get what they want, and often being cruel to other kids in that pursuit. I personally don't like my kids being around them, because I don't like subjecting them to how the child treats others, nor the example it sets.
Recently the caretaking sibling even asked me to travel across multiple states to come babysit for them while they flew across country to party. They also left my niece with their ex-spouse to go to a convention, on my nieces birthday.
I'd like to have a discussion with my sibling, but I know from history that I cannot criticize any of my siblings without facing backlash and verbal abuse, as they will often try to turn it into some fault of mine, or say I am not smart/wise enough to understand, as the youngest child.
However, I am nearing 30 with children of my own, and have put much effort into learning to be a healthy person and parent. I take the feelings of my children and doing right by them very seriously. I feel very painful my siblings seem to be repeating many of the things they complained about our parents doing, without giving it much thought beyond how it effects them, not their kids.
I'm unsure what to do to help my niece. Her life has been so hard already, and I am so sympathic because she reminds me very much of myself.
She makes herself small, and agreeable, and doesn't express herself unless she is with someone she knows understands her and will not just criticize her.
I've fallen into a horrible lifelong habit of people pleasing and self sacrificing to a fault to appease people around me so I wouldn't face their wrath. I don't want to see that life for her too.

I’m not a big sports person and not so great at it, but I do keep a light regular schedule to stay healthy. - I travel quite a bit, have been to 10+ countries across Asia/North America/Europe and would love to do more! - Big tea drinker, coffee lover, and definitely a foodie. Never learn how to properly cook tho so if you do you already caught my attention - Dogs >>>>>> cats (but both cute I agree), generally love animals. 2023.06.03 19:05 thecrowintheknow Update: on damaged in transit shoes from yesterday
 | I posted yesterday about a pair of boots I received that were damaged during transit as the seller didn't use a box or package them correctly. submitted by thecrowintheknow to vinted [link] [comments] I messaged the seller to try and organise some kind of resolution to try and be nice before marking them as recieved damaged in transit as I don't think Vinted would reimburse her as it was packaged incorrectly. Unfortunately she didn't reply and I've just had to report it as damaged in transit before it gets automatically completed. I've just had a reply from vinted however, saying that I have to pay return costs to return them. They are heavy boots so will cost me a bit to return. So if the Seller decides they want me to return them, I now have to pay out of my own pocket to be refunded because of their poor packaging and end up at a loss because of it. It says in their own terms and conditions on the help page for item damaged in transit that if the damage is confirmed, we will cancel your order and you'll get a full refund. Yet they won't accept this as a damaged in transit issue and are saying its not as described instead and they are fine except for the damage on the sides which they are trying to argue didn't happen during transit despite me saying look at the seller's photos, they prove that the damage was not there before posting, I'm really frustrated at their customer service right now as they won't adhere to their own damaged in transit policy and are saying that this is their final decision. I really loved using vinted but now I'm completely disappointed in them for just batting me off and ignoring their own policy. Does anyone know what happens if the seller doesn't respond the refund case request within 48 hours? |

I just want to share happy and hopeful thoughts here before I sleep. So, a week before, I was all alone in the house and I already finished reviewing for an exam and I have no one to talk to. Been practicing self love for months since it didn't work out well with the previous talking stage that I had. I wasn't really looking for anything, just decent talks to fill the deafening silence that night. I tried to use Omegle. Then I met this person, and sobrang saya ng usapan namin about life, school (both graduating kami), and even games. So in short, we really vibed.
Fast forward to a couple of days, I feel his growing interest sa'kin and also he already told me his back story, previous relationship, and a bit about his family, and I did the same thing as well. So, for me okay talaga siya. I also had this instinct na he's a good guy. To add pa he's so soft spoken and an introvert din. Plus points din sa'kin yung his love language towards a partner is acts of service, and he never ever dropped a single inappropriate statement. Also we both don't have any sexual experience din. Nakakatuwa lang.
Pero tonight, I was really overjoyed, kasi sa telegram kami nag uusap, and sabi niya sa'kin, he would not ask for my personal social media accounts, kasi he will just do it when we will finally meet in person, kasi gusto niya ako paghirapan. Damn! As someone na words of affirmation ang love language, I was just so mesmerized.
Another thing, he's from South and I'm from North (Bulacan- Cavite) and damn he's willing to travel that far kasi lagi niya sinasabi pupunta siya dito, tho di pa ngayon pero pag di na kami busy both. Kasi may OJT pa sila ngayon, and ako naman busy for final defense.
It feels like he's too good to be true pero I don't have bad instincts whenever we talk or spend time. Tapos yung OJT niya is from 8 am to 5 pm and sometimes may bring home pa na gawain but he still finds time and I do the same. Kahit busy we still exchange messages every break and talk for minutes or an hour at night before sleeping. Tapos he also mentioned he's willing to know my parents too. I like it when a person shows real intentions, and gives clarity. Shout out sa previous person na ayaw magpakilala sa parents and mixed signals lang alam. Tho thankful ako kasi I had some valuable takeaways.
I feel like I'm ready to risk again. I feel like he's worth it. I pray it'll will out.
Babalik ako dito if kami na. Hahahahaha. Lord you're so good. Now, I believe that someone really valuable comes along when you least expect it. Ladies, there are good men out there. You just gotta work on yourself, pray, and wait for it.
Note: Almost same sila ng name ng someone from my past. Hahahahahaha. Lmao. How funny the universe is.

I've tried to pursue people who aren't into video games in the past and it makes the relationship a lot more difficult to sustain. I am also quite vain and take a lot of pride in my appearance - I'd love to have a gym buddy and/or someone to appreciate my need to constantly buy fashionable (?) active wear. I'm pretty into fitness and being healthy and go to the gym about 4-5 times per week. Other interests include skincare/nail polish/makeup, body modification (I have stretched ears and quite a few piercings and recently got started on my full sleeve!), laughing at my own jokes, trashy TV (Love is Blind and just about any dating show on Netflix are my guilty pleasures!), and great food. I want us to be able to hang out in the same room doing our own thing and it be comfortable. I've recently heard this described as parallel play. Awkward silences? No such thing. Pausing what we're doing every now and then to show the other something we've come across on reddit somewhere only to return to what we were doing without a second thought. Communication and honesty are paramount to me and I value both highly in my relationships - I'm not about the whole "I'm gonna tell my partner I'm fine but I'm not really fine and I want them to ask about it" bullshit. If you're feeling some kind of way, let's talk about it like adults. How do you do, fellow carcinomies?
I recently went into remission from stage 4 melanoma, and it was a much quicker treatment time than I had anticipated. Past the obvious shock and elation, it gives me a lot more time in both the near and long-term future to pursue things I care about.
One of those things has become advocacy for cancer patients and the chronically ill. I've started a vlog that is somewhat dedicated to that, I'm volunteering at my oncology clinic, and now I'm looking to start an organization that formally creates resources for patients.
I don't have an org. structure yet, but that part is less important to me. I also don't want to base my early focus solely on my own anecdotal time(s) with cancer; obviously there's a big, diverse world of people that need different kinds of help.
There are some easy/obvious services or assistance points such as:
--Financial aid --Food and household goods --Medicinal or prescription aid --Billing advocacy --Transportation --Mental health services --Caretaking & scheduling --Support groups
There are also some less overt things like having other patients to talk to, maybe some sort of meetups, or resources on specific treatments/side effects.
I'm compiling my own list, but would love to hear about things that would help or could have helped you get through whatever situation you were in - whether it's as a patient, caretaker, family member, or whatever.

2023.06.03 19:04 Nachtjaeger68 Aunt's new neighbors are entitled buttholes- who insist they own my property.
Need some backstory, so will try to give the Cliff Notes version. I'm originally from rural Western NY. My beloved maternal Grandparents lived at 6 "X" Street. X Street dead-ends at the driveway of the house across the street, 5 X Street. (Don't ask me to explain why the street was never extended, or the house numbering.)
Mom raised me alone, and was renting. The vacant lot next to the Grandfolks came up for sale. Mom bought it with the Grandfolks' help around 1975, put a nice used mobile home on it, and this became 4 X street. There is also a vacant lot at what would be 3 X street.
When I was an adult living at home by choice in 1990 or so, that vacant lot at 3 X street came up for sale for a super low price. The State was planning to put a new prison in my hometown, so I snapped that lot up as an investment. Aaaaand the State promptly cancelled the prison project. Real estate Tycoon I ain't. I was also considering building what would be considered a Tiny House on that lot, before I moved across the state and got married in '92.
So, going counter-clockwise around the dead end, we have the Grandfolks' old place at 6 X Street, Mom's old place at 4 X Street, my vacant lot at the incipient 3 X Street, and the neighbors at 5 X Street. (Wonderful folks, with the exception of having bought the last house on a dead-end street and getting upset if anybody turns around in their driveway.)
In the mid 2000s, the Grandfolks passed away after very long, healthy and happy lives. My Aunt "Jane" (late surprise for the Grandfolks, more like my big sister) and her husband "Dick" had come into some money, so they bought the Grandfolks' place lock, stock and barrel from the Estate, and still live there.
Mom passed on in 2014. The trailer and land were pretty much her whole Estate. I ended up selling Mom's place (with her newer upgraded trailer that replaced the one I grew up in) to another single Mom just starting out. "Sue" was wonderful. I had offered her my lot for a pittance, but the taxes on just Mom's place (this is New York State) were going to be enough of a burden. So all was right with the world, except I'm still paying taxes on that white elephant of a vacant lot. When she became more financially secure, Sue wanted to buy my lot. But life happens, I live 300 miles away and was working full time, so we never did get together with a lawyer to make the sale happen.
Fast forward to late 2022. Sue has wisely moved out of state (like I said, New York State.) Like any reasonable person, she sold the property to the first interested party who met her price and put the cash in her hand. Sue is totally blameless here. My Aunt's new neighbors, as stated in the title, are entitled buttholes (hence to be referred to as the EBs.) But not your garden variety EBs. These are the extremely nasty and possibly violent type of EBs.
The trouble started on moving day. One of them parked in my Aunt's driveway. And refused to move when she arrived home and asked politely to park in her own driveway. This person also used a certain term in Spanish which refers to the world's oldest profession. My Aunt had to find out from Google Translate that she'd been mortally insulted. Strike One.

(Again, MY land, that she has permission to occupy.) And that he is building a house there for his brother.
Oh HELL na! Dem folks done effed up. Fornication be upon them, and upon their House, and upon the steeds which bore them hence. Luckily I just retired, and have the free time to deal with this nonsense. The money to do so? Not so much. Dang, I hate it when personal honor, family honor, and principle get in an argument with my bank account.
Of course Aunt Jane, Uncle Dick and I have called the local PD's non-emergency line to report the trespassing, harassment and threats. I am very pleased to say we did NOT hear "It's a civil matter." My Lady Wife and I are headed out there Monday to try to deal with all this. Yeah, we're looking for a real estate attorney out there.
While I would prefer to deal with the matter myself peacefully and legally, this is New York State, where such is frowned upon. So I will need a police standby when I go to speak with the EBs. And again when I start putting up POSTED-NO TRESPASSING signs. EBs ain't gonna like that one bit. IDGAF. Funny part is, before this last incident, I would have sold the EBs that lot just to get out from under the taxes. Now, they ain't getting their hands on that land at any price they could possibly afford. I do have my price- that price is now ten times the current assessed valuation.
Right now I am knocking the dust (okay, rust, and lots of it) off my Spanish, as the EBs reportedly have the annoying tendency to pretend not to understand English if you tell them something they don't want to hear. Looking forward to looking the EBs in the eye, and telling them in clear, properly accented Spanish to get off my property if they don't want lots more trouble. And that they already have a huge problem with me already
. In the unlikely event I lose my temper (I normally get like ice when extremely angry) and decide to start hurling insults, I will do so in German, because turnabout is fair play. Heck, even "I love you" sounds intimidating if you shout it in German.
I have considered inviting my old friends from "out home", and their friends' friends, over for a fun day of target shooting (this can be done legally and safely), country music, and grilling on my property. That would peacefully and legally send the EBs the appropriate message. But yet again, New York State, and as the EBs are a "protected class" I'm sure NY Attorney General Leticia James would be all over us like stink on you know what, and would sue us all into bankruptcy.

Mom raised me alone, and was renting. The vacant lot next to the Grandfolks came up for sale. Mom bought it with the Grandfolks' help around 1975, put a nice used mobile home on it, and this became 4 X street. There is also a vacant lot at what would be 3 X street.
When I was an adult living at home by choice in 1990 or so, that vacant lot at 3 X street came up for sale for a super low price. The State was planning to put a new prison in my hometown, so I snapped that lot up as an investment. Aaaaand the State promptly cancelled the prison project. Real estate Tycoon I ain't. I was also considering building what would be considered a Tiny House on that lot, before I moved across the state and got married in '92.
So, going counter-clockwise around the dead end, we have the Grandfolks' old place at 6 X Street, Mom's old place at 4 X Street, my vacant lot at the incipient 3 X Street, and the neighbors at 5 X Street. (Wonderful folks, with the exception of having bought the last house on a dead-end street and getting upset if anybody turns around in their driveway.)
In the mid 2000s, the Grandfolks passed away after very long, healthy and happy lives. My Aunt "Jane" (late surprise for the Grandfolks, more like my big sister) and her husband "Dick" had come into some money, so they bought the Grandfolks' place lock, stock and barrel from the Estate, and still live there.
Mom passed on in 2014. The trailer and land were pretty much her whole Estate. I ended up selling Mom's place (with her newer upgraded trailer that replaced the one I grew up in) to another single Mom just starting out. "Sue" was wonderful. I had offered her my lot for a pittance, but the taxes on just Mom's place (this is New York State) were going to be enough of a burden. So all was right with the world, except I'm still paying taxes on that white elephant of a vacant lot. When she became more financially secure, Sue wanted to buy my lot. But life happens, I live 300 miles away and was working full time, so we never did get together with a lawyer to make the sale happen.
Fast forward to late 2022. Sue has wisely moved out of state (like I said, New York State.) Like any reasonable person, she sold the property to the first interested party who met her price and put the cash in her hand. Sue is totally blameless here. My Aunt's new neighbors, as stated in the title, are entitled buttholes (hence to be referred to as the EBs.) But not your garden variety EBs. These are the extremely nasty and possibly violent type of EBs.
The trouble started on moving day. One of them parked in my Aunt's driveway. And refused to move when she arrived home and asked politely to park in her own driveway. This person also used a certain term in Spanish which refers to the world's oldest profession. My Aunt had to find out from Google Translate that she'd been mortally insulted. Strike One.

Hey dad. I just had a big blowout fight with my sister. I won’t say all the details but we’ve had a similar fight before and she always says I’m a bad person and I’m so mean that my other sister hates me and that’s why she won’t talk to me. Then she said that I’m so mean that that’s why I don’t have friends. And I never will.
I don’t have many friends. This is true. But I’m not sure if I’m a bad person though. What she said hurt a lot. We were both screaming at each other but I was crying. My mom and dad like to play peacemaker and told us both to shut up. To her credit, my mom was trying to console me at first. But towards the end she just told me to shut up because there are people with bigger problems in the world. My dad didn’t want to talk to me either. So I was just sitting in their room sobbing while they ignored me and told me to not speak to them. I won’t play victim. I yelled at my sister too. But I didn’t stoop to her level. She always goes from zero to 100. I could’ve told her that her attitude is why she’s still single and unemployed. But I kept my mouth shut.
I don’t think I’m a bad person. I do think that I don’t like to leave the house much, ever. I mind my own business.
I feel like my heart is stifled. My parents were never really big on sharing feelings anyway. Sometimes I wish I had dads like you.
Can one of you tell me I’m not a bad person even if you don’t know me? My heart feels very heavy. I’ve been going through a lot. I think I’ve forgotten what love and safety feel like.

and perhaps, the possible origin of the paradoxes
and there is this famous theory that they are created through imagination (which I cross my fingers is false)
i really hate this theory because besides it just makes their existence boring (at least for me)
It also pisses me off that everyone who believes in this theory just claims it, as if it were confirmed.
(this is something that I notice in many pokemon theories, it has never been confirmed, but if you ask those who believe it, they will immediately say that it is real)
the paradoxes are too interesting to simply be dismissed as "just the imagination of two strange scientists"
wow, just the fact that they can point out how the past was and how the future of the pokemon world will be (I don't say that they confirm it because their origin is not known)
for me, they do a much better job than the fossil pokemon in this regard...technically we don't even know the real appearance of the fossil pokemon, since it is likely that the rock type modified its real appearance (aerodactyl is an example)
those from the past show that it was a very aggressive land, no wonder they have claws, thorns and sharp teeth (the old prehistoric animal standard, "take a current one, leave it big and put big teeth)
and the future is something more electric, where pokemons have turned into machines and produce their own energy (like iron moth with solar energy and iron thorns with nuclear energy)
but if it's just imagination, go back to the beginning with nothing
the biggest "proof" they used to point out was the walking wake
because "suicune is recent, there's no way to have an ancestor"
although there are several possibilities
Like for example :
it could be the previous suicune (if you consider being a "suicune" as a kind of "title") or just the creature that died in the tower and became suicune
(that's another thing, many like to assume that what died in the tower was a vaporeon or some kind of canid, something else that has never been confirmed)
There's also that "they all have the same ability" thing.

For the longest time, I have struggled to develop my own fashion sense. The main reason is because my mother constantly imposes her own fashion choices on me. It seems that she could never understand or take into account of what I want, and only thinks that I ought to want what she wants.
Fashion is a deeply personal thing and I feel this is one of the areas where parental emotional neglect comes through. My mother would often criticize me own clothing choices in front of relatives, making me feel ridiculed. I could feel that whenever I make purchases that she doesn’t agree with, she treats them lesser, such as doing laundry with them against their label instructions, or suggesting I donate them after a while. In contrast, the clothes she picked for me has been dry cleaned, and she often insists I wear them. Whereas she would constantly look for problems in the clothes that I pick, and say something like “don’t ever wear that again.”
This goes beyond clothing. She would insist on what color I dye my hair in, so much so as skipping over me to talk to the hair stylist directly, or mention how I’m drawing my brows wrong. In fact, when I first see her, the first thing she always says is “let’s see what you’re wearing today”, and gives her verdict.
In case anybody asks, I’m a 27 year old female, and she still treats me like this. I wonder if anybody feels ashamed over their own clothing choices like I do and feel like a piece of myself being denied whenever I’m criticized.

It's mother's day tomorrow in my country. And it's weird. It's the first mother's day I spend away from my parent's house. I won't wish her a happy mother's day. The last time she saw me, she told me my brother was her only son because she still can't accept that I'm trans. That was what pushed me to go no contact after all these years of trying to have a relationship with her, of hoping that she would change, of blaming myself for everything. That and a conversation I had with my little sister, that showed me she had no intention of changing, and no intention of respecting me and my boundaries.
I thought not talking to her anymore would feel good, but there's just this guilt... It's my mother. She's far from being the worst mother on earth. But when I talk about her to my therapist, to my friends, they all have that face of 'what the hell, man, run.'.
