A sub for everything about the Cummins 12v
2023.06.03 20:43 Esg876 Looking to get a high end gaming PC
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
Right now I mainly play single playecoop/VR games. CSGO, Dota 2, new starship troopers, Total War: Warhammer 3 and mainly beat saber for VR on valve index. I will be buying the next high end Valve VR headset when it comes out. Looking for something that can run 1440p at 165 hz for a few years, and be quiet.
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
Price isn't a huge issue, ~3-4k but I can allocate more budget for quality of life upgrades.
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Looking to buy within 2 months or later this year if there is something worth waiting for. Ideally looking to see what is a good build right now and keep an eye on sales.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: toweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
ToweOS, I MIGHT want to buy a 4k 144+hz monitor but might be a few years away
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
Using old monitors/mouse/keyboard. Dell S2721DGF is main gaming monitor (1440p, 165hz), have an HP 27' conference monitor from work (75 hz) all less then a year old. 3rd monitor is an old Asus ProArt (6+ years). Might reuse my Samsung Evo 860 1tb as secondary storage. (~2 years)
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
Will overlock CPU, however might be down the line if I don't need to do it now
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Bluetooth, SSD, VR
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-towefull-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Want a quieter case that has good cooling, mid/full tower, usually prefer black, side panel window and LEDs are nice to have but not a big deal.
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free.
Yes
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
Might upgrade GPU and storage in the future
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc)
Prefer AMD if possible, but looking for the better parts right now
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.
Not really looking to reuse anything except the Evo 860
PCPartPicker Part List 13. Extra info or particulars:
Want to do air cooling as I don't really want to risk liquid damaging parts. I have really liked Noctua cooling in the past and will likely want to stay with them.
Need a graphics card that can handle 3 monitors +VR. I would also like to put my LG 55 Inch TV as well, but I don't think any gaming cards have 5 ports so not a huge deal for the TV.

2023.06.03 19:42 influx3k Problem with whole-house instant hot system
I have a newish home built in 2014 that has a whole-house instant hot system. It is an electronic valve by my hot water tank that, presumably, cycles hot water through the lines when power is supplied (I'm assuming most of you know what these things are). The valve is on a timer and I have it set so that it is on Mon. - Fri. 6am - 10am and Sat. - Sun. 8am - 12pm. I'm having an issue where if you take a shower just outside of that time frame, you get very lukewarm water; basically just barely warm. For example, I take a shower on Saturday at 12:30pm, I'll get nothing but just barely warm water the entire duration of the shower; nothing approaching very warm or hot. Showers taken much further from the shut-off time are fine; takes a little longer to get hot water, but you do get hot water for the entire shower.
What is going on here? I haven't been able to wrap my head around why that may happen or if there is fix. Is the valve not working correctly? Do I need to further adjust the time programming? I have adjusted the timing but hasn't seemed to help at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2023.06.03 18:27 Bendouzz [REQUEST][STEAM] CS:GO Prime Status Upgrade
Hello Everybody!. My name is Ben(I think shouldn't reveal real name) I am a 16 year old boy from Tunis who loves to play videogames. And today I am here to request Prime Status for CSGO
What is CSGO?
-Well, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is a first-person shooter video game which is a part of the Counter Strike Series. It was announced to the public on August 12, 2011, and is developed by Valve Corporation and their partner, Hidden Path Entertainment.
When did I came to know about CSGO Prime?
-I got to know about csgo while browsing YouTube. I didn't know that csgo has something like prime which gives you access to prime lobbies and give crate or skin drops. My friend told me that he got prime free by getting to level 21 but by the time I came to know about it csgo removed this (feature?)
Why don't I buy it myself?
-Well, My parents won't buy something which costs $10+ for a game which is already free to play.
Why do I want CSGO Prime status?
-I am fed up of these hackers in normal lobbies of csgo also you get crate and skin drops which you can sell in steam community market to get some steam cash.
Do I have a PC capable of running CSGO?
-Yes, my pc can run it on low - medium settings
In the end, I will be happy if someone gifts me CSGO
Thank you for reading till here<3
Have a good day.
This is my Steam ID:

2023.06.03 18:18 Thickencreamy Ice maker Issues Kitchenaide kscs25fvms01
Been thru 3 techs and 3 ice makers. It will work fine for 12 hours and then it spews water all over freezer side with ice maker. Making a winter wonderland with icicles and food covered with ice. Something is causing icemaker to discharge massive amounts of water. We have lots of pressure here (90psi) but it worked fine for 14 years. Is the valve for water IN the icemaker or separate? If separate then I think it needs replacement. Another symptom is when we see the issue and we slide switch to icemaker off it still periodically discharges water Where is this valve and why won’t it listen to the switch?

Looking to downsize and get rid of things I no longer have a use for.
Feel free to offer on anything, but I'd prefer to bundle as much as possible. Local is 47403.
Arctic P12 PWM PST | https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-P12-PWM-PST-Connessione/dp/B07GJGF56L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3I5FKDOJ9ZYG0&keywords=Arctic+p12+pwm+pst&qid=1685755682&s=industrial&sprefix=arctic+p12+pwm+ps%2Cindustrial%2C98&sr=1-3 | Used these for a couple years. Came together in a pack of 5. From what I can recall, one of them has an inconsistent bearing, but maybe it was just a symptom of my case and vertical mount placement. These were cleaned well, before posting. | Hoping to bundle all of these, but I suppose I'd sell these separately for $20 shipped |
Arctic P12 PWM PST (SLIM) | https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-P12-Slim-PWM-PST/dp/B08QDKGCCW?th=1 | Used two of these for a couple years, but one is brand new. These were cleaned well, before posting. | Hoping to bundle all of these, but I suppose I'd sell these separately for $20 shipped |
ID-Cooling NO-12015-XT ARGB | https://www.amazon.com/ID-COOLING-Cooling-Cooler-Raidator-Chassis/dp/B09Z65X5RW | Used two of these for a couple years, but one is brand new. These were cleaned well, before posting. These also come with aftermarket spacers in case you want to mount them as intake on certain cases that cause issue. One of them has some yellowing in the center of the fan that can be seen if RGB is used. | Hoping to bundle all of these, but I suppose I'd sell these separately for $25 shipped |
Thermalright TL-C12C-S X3 | https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKKFBR9R | Brand new. | These are too cheap to bother selling separately, but I will gladly bundle them. |
CoolerMaster MF120 Halo | https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081W8Y4F7 | Brand new. | Hoping to bundle all of these, but I suppose I'd sell this separately for $20 shipped |
Noctua NF-F12 Redux 1700RPM | https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-redux-1700-high-Performance-Award-Winning-Affordable/dp/B07CG2PGY6/ref=sr_1_3?crid=AK0SHCM09GKJ&keywords=NF-F12+redux&qid=1685755822&s=electronics&sprefix=nf-f12+redux%2Celectronics%2C94&sr=1-3 | Used, but perfectly functional and clean, 120mm PWM Pressure optimized fan. Includes the multi-colored anti-vibration pads. Apparently the P12 is the budget variant of the F12, but they're probably close to identical. | Hoping to bundle all of these, but I suppose I'd sell this separately for $15 shipped |
Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 360mm Radiator | https://www.amazon.com/Alphacool-NexXxos-Copper-Radiator-Triple/dp/B007R79E60 | I used this once or twice over the span of 2 years, with clear fluids. It has a bit of discoloration in the exterior fins, but it worked fine for me. I flushed it recently with my hose and shook it quite vigorously, but you may want to do your own cleaning anyways. | I'm hoping to bundle most of this watercooling gear; otherwise, I'd sell this separately for $30 local, or $40 shipped |
EKWB Coolstream Classic PE 360 | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-coolstream-classic-pe-360 | I used this for 2 years with clear fluid, but there was some plasticizer leach from my soft tubing. I tried my best to clean it via flushing with the above method, but you might want to do your own cleaning anyways. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $60 local, or $70 shipped |
EK-Loop Leak Tester Flex | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-loop-leak-tester-flex | I don't think this was used more than a single time. I bought it second hand, but I was told it had been purchased in March. I already have a Barrow leak tester. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $20 local, or $25 shipped |
EK-UNI Pump Bracket (120mm FAN) Vertical | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-uni-pump-bracket-120mm-fan-vertical | I can't recall how much use this saw, probably a couple builds. Has a bit of cosmetic damage. | Bundle only |
EK-UNI Pump Bracket (140mm FAN) Vertical | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-uni-pump-bracket-140mm-fan-vertical | I can't recall how much use this saw, probably a single build. Might have a bit of cosmetic damage. | Bundle only |
XSPC G1/4" Plug with 10k Sensor - Chrome | https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/fittings-connectors/xspc-g1-4-plug-with-10k-sensor-chrome-xspc-g14-10k-sensor-ch.html | Brand new | Otherwise, I'd sell for $12 shipped |
Thermaltake Pacific C-PRO G1/4 16mm (5/8") OD Compression – Chrome (6 total) | https://www.thermaltake.com/pacific-c-pro-g1-4-petg-tube-16mm-od-compression-chrome-6-pack-fittings.html | bit of plasticizer leach, but still fully functional. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $20 local, or $30 shipped |
Thermaltake Pacific G1/4 16mm (5/8”) OD Compression – Chrome (6 total) | https://es.thermaltake.com/thermaltake-pacific-g1-4-petg-tube-16mm-5-8-od-compression-chrome.html | Don't think these were used much at all. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $20 local, or $30 shipped |
G1/4" Black Sparkle Rotary 90-Degree Extender (7 total) | https://shop.bitspower.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=643 | Used throughout a few builds, bit of cosmetic damage or plasticizer leach. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $30 local, or $40 shipped |
Corsair Hydro X Series, 90° Rotary Adapter - Chrome (4 total) | https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Durability-Securely-Rotation-Mechanism/dp/B07WJVDNBB | Used throughout a few builds, bit of cosmetic damage if anything. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $15 local, or $20 shipped |
Corsair Hydro X Series, Dual G1/4" 90-Degree Extender | I don't know what the hell this monstrosity is. Maybe it is corsair, maybe it isn't. | Only time I ever made use of this was when I needed to plumb a ball valve drain (they typically have a female g1/4). Has lots of cosmetic damage from attempting to remove the other end. The colors don't even match LOL. | Bundle only |
Bitspower G1/4" Extender-30MM - Chrome (2 total) | https://shop.bitspower.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2309 | One is basically brand new and the other has a not so insignificant amount of plasticizer leach I cannot remove with soapy water. | Bundle Only |
Bitspower Rotary Fitting "Q" - 360 Degree Water Cooling Accessory | https://www.performance-pcs.com/water-cooling/fittings-connectors/bitspower-rotary-fitting-q-360-degree-water-cooling-accessory-black-sparkle-finish.html | Bit of plasticizer leach in the top g1/4 threads. | Bundle Only |
Alphacool 2-Way Ball Valve G1/4 | https://www.amazon.com/Alphacool-17141-Black-Hardware-Cooling-Accessory/dp/B015YRMCPO | Used this in a couple builds. bit of cosmetic damage but fully functional and clean. | Bundle Only |
EK-Quantum Torque Drain Valve | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-quantum-torque-drain-valve-black | Probably also only used once. Bought with the EK leak tester. | Bundle Only |
EK-Quantum Torque 90 Degree Rotary - Nickle (6 total) | https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-torque-angled-90-black | One of them has a bit of cosmetic staining | Bundle Only |
Primochill Liquid Utopia | https://www.primochill.com/products/primochill-liquid-utopia-15ml-bottle | Bought this recent from frozencpu's sale but there doesn't appear to be a way to identify any manufacturers date. | Bundle Only |
NZXT Kraken G12 GPU Cooling Bracket | https://nzxt.com/product/kraken-g12 | Came with some other stuff I bought, but I'll never use this. It is used, and I did my best to clean it up. | Otherwise, I'd sell for $10 local, $15 shipped |
upHere GPU Anti-sag brace | https://www.amazon.com/upHere-Graphics-Anodized-Aerospace-Aluminum/dp/B076GYL25H | Used a couple times; cosmetic damage where the screw sits. | Bundle Only |

2023.06.03 06:04 Purpelled what is the secret achievement
2023.06.03 04:07 L4sT-Sh4d0wXx Can’t wait to begin my #ELDEN RING journey!
2023.06.03 04:01 GrantGorewood Folklore series hiatus notice for the month of June 2023. Folklore series will be returning in July 2023.
I have multiple reasons for going on hiatus for the folklore series. It will only be for the month of June and part of that you can thank my landlord terminating my lease under false reasons for.
I have realized that it will be impossible for me to move everything out of my apartment, clean the apartment, modify the jeep, finish my cosplays (I kind of have a commitment from last year for one convention that I go to), go to my interviews for the new jobs I’ve applied to, and grieve my cat while also doing all of the work that goes into the folklore series.
I have not had the appropriate time to grieve the loss of my kitty Tigris. I have in large part been writing the folklore series since she passed to try to fill the void she left in my life.
I’m sure it’s shown in my writing but my heart just isn’t 100% in it right now. I need more time to properly process losing her. And thanks to my landlord that time has been made more difficult.
This does not mean the folklore series is done for good, or that I will not be posting two sentence horror. I will probably start posting non-folklore two sentence horror with the occasional folklore story, unrelated to a specific region in June.
But it does mean that the dedicated daily stories will be on pause until July.
The apartment situation has taken a massive toll on my physical and mental health as has the loss of my kitty. The other day, I found a massive colony of orange sponge mold of some type in my bathroom walls. This colony of mold likely predates my kitty and I living in the apartment. It is so big that it is growing from at least where my toilet is on one wall to the other wall connected to that one where my bathroom window is. It is fruiting out through my window seal and through the brick wall from the inner wall right next to my bathtub.
On top of that the ceiling of the unit is currently crumbling and cracking and showing signs of potential collapse. There is a gas leak that has not been resolved and apparently by tightening the valve the landlord just caused it to escape in a different way.
There is apparently black mold in the kitchen under a plastic sheeting, and likely more of it in the bathroom. There are holes randomly appearing in walls and places I could not reach. The place is filled with cracks, fractures, bubbles, you name it.
Asbestos in the ceiling and asbestos in the floor. Rot, mold, and decay is so bad that the place is a biohazard.
I am going to need to move all of my property from the apartment to a storage unit and this will include me building a shelving unit in my storage unit.
While I’m moving everything I have to leave a few items to show that I’m still living there. I’m going to need to convert my jeep. The jeep conversion will take at least five days. Thankfully I’m not planning anything too complicated.
If the people that have been contacted about this situation, cannot do anything by June 28th I am going to have to move the remaining items out of the property.
And while all of this is happening, I need to mourn my kitty. I also need to go to job interviews, which take a lot of time to prepare for.
The reason I continued the folklore series for May 2023 was I wanted to finish out the Indonesian and Malaysian section. It didn’t feel right leaving it unfinished. But now that the month of May is over, I can take a month off to grieve and to deal with all of this chaos that is happening in my life.
And before anybody mentions it yes, I will be figuring out a gofundme, Patreon, and all of that during the June hiatus. When I return in July, I will probably be living in my Jeep.
On the upside it’s going to be converted, so it won’t be absolutely horrible. But at least for the month of July and possibly August I will be living in my car. It will definitely make for interesting story inspiration material.
I just want to note that this was an incredibly difficult decision to make. The folklore series is very much a passion project for me.
And as much as I love the folklore series, and I love writing it, reality is since Tigris passed the quality level I used to have isn’t there. I have really been forcing myself to write. Hoping it would fill the void and make things easier.
And though I thought it was helping me grieve, in reality it was just helping me deny what I have lost and prolong the grieving process. Taking time off to deal with these very serious issues with my life and to grieve the loss of my Tigris properly is something I have to do.
And there is another reason that I have decided to take the hiatus in June. June 12, 2020 was the day that the family cat; that I raised and cared for for much of his life, Morris died. He also died of kidney disease. Morris was 26 to 27 years old. But he was also like a big brother to Tigris. Every year since he died, I have been hit with a severe depression around June 12th. Morris was a big living teddy bear of a cat. He was also there for almost the entirety of Tigris’s life. And like Tigris he died in my arms. So this year it will be extra difficult for me, because now Tigris is also gone.
The Folklore Series will return in July 2023 after I have processed my grief more and things in my life are hopefully less chaotic.
Thank you for your support, see you on the daily again in July 2023.

2023.06.02 22:22 Dismal-Jellyfish $86 billion deposited to commercial banks in the last week (May 17th-24th). $920 billion in deposits has been pulled since the all time hit 4/13/22. Since the run picked up momentum 2/22/2023, $452 billion in deposits have been pulled. Is the bank run stabilizing? Still a TON of BTFP borrowing...

Seasonally adjusted M1 is constructed by summing currency, demand deposits, and other liquid deposits, each seasonally adjusted separately.
- M2 consists of M1 plus (1) small-denomination time deposits (time deposits in amounts of less than $100,000) less individual retirement account (IRA) and Keogh balances at depository institutions; and (2) balances in retail money market funds (MMFs) less IRA and Keogh balances at MMFs. Seasonally adjusted M2 is constructed by summing small-denomination time deposits and retail MMFs, each seasonally adjusted separately, and adding the result to seasonally adjusted M1.
- Currency in circulation consists of Federal Reserve notes and coin outside the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve Banks.
- Reserve balances are balances held by depository institutions in master accounts and excess balance accounts at Federal Reserve Banks.
- Monetary base equals currency in circulation plus reserve balances.
- Total reserves equal reserve balances plus, before April 2020, vault cash used to satisfy reserve requirements.
- Total borrowings in millions of dollars from the Federal Reserve are borrowings from the discount window's primary, secondary, and seasonal credit programs and other borrowings from emergency lending facilities. For borrowings included, see "Loans" in table 1 of the H.4.1 statistical release.
- Nonborrowed reserves equal total reserves less total borrowings from the Federal Reserve.

By providing ready access to funding, the discount window helps depository institutions manage their liquidity risks efficiently and avoid actions that have negative consequences for their customers, such as withdrawing credit during times of market stress. Thus, the discount window supports the smooth flow of credit to households and businesses. Providing liquidity in this way is one of the original purposes of the Federal Reserve System and other central banks around the world. The "Primary Credit" program is the principal safety valve for ensuring adequate liquidity in the banking system. Primary credit is priced relative to the FOMC’s target range for the federal funds rate and is normally granted on a “no-questions-asked,” minimally administered basis. There are no restrictions on borrowers’ use of primary credit. https://www.frbdiscountwindow.org/Pages/General-Information/Primary-and-Secondary-Lending-Programs.aspx Examples of common borrowing situations: - Tight money markets or undue market volatility
- Preventing an overnight overdraft
- Meeting a need for funding, including a short-term liquidity demand that may arise from unexpected deposit withdrawals or a spike in loan demand
The introduction of the primary credit program in 2003 marked a fundamental shift - from administration to pricing - in the Federal Reserve's approach to discount window lending. Notably, eligible depository institutions may obtain primary credit without exhausting or even seeking funds from alternative sources. Minimal administration of and restrictions on the use of primary credit makes it a reliable funding source. Being prepared to borrow primary credit enhances an institution's liquidity. Notice how use of the Discount Window has PLUMMETED as BTFP has come in to play? BTFP offers slightly lower interest and longer terms. I wonder how many folks paid back their Discount Window loans with BTFP money? https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/WLCFOCEL Tool | Other Credit Extension | Up from 3/15, 1st week of program ($ billion) | 3/15 | $142.8 billion | $0 billion | 3/22 | $179.8 billion | $37 billion | 3/29 | $180.1 billion | $37.3 billion | 4/5 | $174.6 billion | $31.8 billion | 4/12 | $172.6 billion | $29.8 billion | 4/19 | $172.6 billion | $29.8 billion | 4/26 | $170.3 billion | $27.5 billion | 5/3 | $228.2 billion | $85.4 billion | 5/10 | $212.5 billion | $69.7billion | 5/17 | $208.5 billion | $65.7 billion | 5/24 | $192.6 billion | $49.8 billion | 5/31 | $188.092 billion | $45.292 billion | "Other credit extensions" includes loans that were extended to depository institutions established by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). The Federal Reserve Banks' loans to these depository institutions are secured by collateral and the FDIC provides repayment guarantees. For example, $114 billion in face value Agency Mortgage Backed Securities, Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, and Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities about to be liquidated 'gradual and orderly' with the 'aim to minimize the potential for any adverse impact on market functioning' by BlackRock. How I understand this works: - The FDIC created temporary banks to support the operations of the ones they have taken over.
- The FDIC did not have the money to operate these banks.
- The Fed is providing that in the form of a loan via "Other credit extensions".
- The FDIC is going to sell the taken over banks assets.
- Whatever the difference between the sale of the assets and the ultimate loan number is, will be the amount split up amongst all the remaining banks and applied as a special fee to make the Fed 'whole'.
- It can be argued the consumer will ultimately end up paying for this as banks look to pass this cost on in some way.
There has been an update on this piece recently: Whatever the difference between the sale of the assets and the ultimate loan number is, will be the amount split up amongst all the remaining banks and applied as a special fee to make the Fed 'whole'. FDIC Board of Directors Issues a Proposed Rule on Special Assessment Pursuant to Systemic Risk Determination of approximately $15.8 billion. It is estimated that a total of 113 banking organizations would be subject to the special assessment. https://www.fdic.gov/news/fact-sheets/systemic-risk-determination-5-11-23.html What does all this borrowing look like for the banks? They sure as heck aren't getting funding from deposits...: https://www.reddit.com/Superstonk/comments/13eme4d/bank_funding_during_the_current_monetary_policy/ Over the few weeks prior to the FDIC receivership announcements on March 10 and 12, the banking sector lost another approximately $450 billion. Throughout, the banking sector has offset the reduction in deposit funding with an increase in other forms of borrowing which has increased by $800 billion since the start of the tightening. The right panel of the chart below summarizes the cumulative change in deposit funding by bank size category since the start of the tightening cycle through early March 2023 and then through the end of March. Until early March 2023, the decline in deposit funding lined up with bank size, consistent with the concentration of deposits in larger banks. Small banks lost no deposit funding prior to the events of late March. In terms of percentage decline, the outflows were roughly equal for regional, super-regional, and large banks at around 4 percent of total deposit funding: https://preview.redd.it/q162qztuvn3b1.png?width=572&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f802c33839e95f31b97d10d3e78c568189956b9 The blue bar in the left panel above shows that the pattern changes following the run on SVB. The additional outflow is entirely concentrated in the segment of super-regional banks. In fact, most other size categories experience deposit inflows. The right panel illustrates that outflows at super-regionals begin immediately after the failure of SVB and are mirrored by deposit inflows at large banks in the second week of March 2022. Further, while deposit funding remains at a lower level throughout March for super-regional banks, the initially large inflows mostly reverse by the end of March. Notably, banks with less than $100 billion in assets were relatively unaffected. However, during the most acute phase of banking stress in mid-March, other borrowings exceeded reductions in deposit balances, suggesting significant and widespread demand for precautionary liquidity. A substantial amount of liquidity was provided by the private markets, likely via the FHLB system, but primary credit and the Bank Term Funding Program (both summarized as Federal Reserve credit) were equally important. https://preview.redd.it/no5wga6xvn3b1.png?width=557&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8b2fe4a73e16ac898400327a4fb4d60b7fd15bc - Large banks increased borrowing the most, which is in line with deposit outflows being strongest for larger banks before March 2023.
- During March 2023, both super-regional and large banks increase their borrowings, with most increases being centered in the super-regional banks that faced the largest deposit outflows.
- Note, however, that not all size categories face deposit outflows but that all except the small banks increase their other borrowings.
- This pattern suggests demand for precautionary liquidity buffers across the banking system, not just among the most affected institutions:

TLDRS: - Folks have pulled $920 billion in deposits since 4/13/2022
- Folks have pulled $452 billion in deposits since 2/22/2023
- Folks have added $86 billion in deposits 5/17-5/24
- Is the bank run stabilizing? More fuel for June rate hike?

2023.06.02 21:08 Impressive_Returns Water heater - Life expectancy - Do yours fail after 5 years or so?
Between my house and a couple of rental properties I have 12 water heaters. Over the past 20 years I have had to install36 with many of the water heaters only lasting 4 to 6 years. (Some lasting only 6 months.) Doesn’t matter if they are GE, Rheem, AO Smith they all fail well within the warranty period. And yes, I always buy the heather with the longest warranty. Before installing I away inspect for damage. Yesterday had another water heater fail. This one was just 4 years old. (I write the purchase date and warranty on every water heater). This one was a Rheem from HomeDepot. They gave me a $100 credit towards a new one. Installed the new one. As soon as the water reached the TP-safety valve it was leaking. (There was no sign of the box being damaged which means Rheem let this one ship defective.) After much swearing and an hour I’m back at HD to another one.
Are ALL water heaters this cheap? Only made to last about half of their warranty?
And in poking around on the Internet I found the FAST water heater installation company, owned by HD makes over $1 Billion a year just replacing water heaters.
Anyone else having similar experience? Is their a brand that last longer?

2023.06.02 20:33 WideMix8098 Don’t buy a used car in Lawrence, especially from Express Motorsports.
Edit: been getting a bunch of comments saying, you knew the risk, he provided a warranty, cars 15 years old , ect… and to that I just ask you read the post more thoroughly. This post is generally a warning to others not to purchase from this dealership, learn from my mistakes, and not to tell me what I shoulda woulda coulda done. This was the most confusing history, purchase contract, and situation to be in. He provided a blank warranty, and the most shifty car fax information that I didn’t learn until further inspection. I understand that’s a common tactic for car dealerships to use, and the situation I was in I needed to get into whatever vehicle I could at the time. This whole process was super rushed I was borrowing money from my family and they insisted I go through a dealership.
Let me preface by saying yes I am aware that Lawrence is not by any means the best place to buy a used car. However, it was my only choice at the time. I was desperate and forced to get whatever I could. I tried to pick the least sketchy and trustworthy used car dealership to do business with. Don’t buy from these people. Don’t even think about it. I bought a 2008 Honda CRV for 8,000 from them in January, and by March the dashboard lit up with engine codes. The engine was completely dead by April, about 90 days after I bought the car. After basically threatening to sue them, they reluctantly agreed to trade for a car of much less value. I eventually decided against trading in fear of getting more problems from them. I sold the car to get not even half of my money back. There is no explanation for dropping a valve randomly after doing nothing but if anything, overly maintaining this car. This was the first car I owned in 2 years and it took a long time to save up this money, doing research and careful planning for nothing and a bad attitude when I came to them with my dead car they sold me. I would stay clear of this place at all costs. This is a warning.
Here is the copy of the timeline I sent to my lawyer:
Hi Kevin,
I bought an 08 Honda Crv from Eduardo Contreras at Express Motorsports Dealership in Lawrence, Massachusetts. I’ve done nothing but try to maintain the vehicle and the engine was dead within 2 months of purchasing the car.
Here is a timeline of events.
Jan 10 2023 at 4:30pm Traveled to Lawrence, Massachusetts to look at the vehicle which is a 2008 Honda Crv ex sport utility. Was told the “total loss” on the CarFax was a mistake the insurance company made with only minor front end damage. Was told the title was always clean. After reviewing the CarFax further it appears it had both a salvage and rebuilt title issued then later corrected in “error” then a clean title was issued. Put a $500 deposit down on the vehicle. At the time the dealership had no negative reviews. However on or around the time I bought my vehicle they received many negative reviews similar to mine.
January 12 2023
Bought my insurance policy for the vehicle.
January 17 2023
Was issued a temporary license plate to transport the vehicle from the dealership to my residence.
January 18 2023
Purchased the vehicle for 8,000. Was told the purchasing contract included a 30 day warranty for the entire vehicle. Purchaser contract had no disclosure of being subject to recalls. Tmps light was only light on the dash.
January 20 2023
Registered the vehicle.
February 9th 2023
Vehicle passed state inspection.
Between February 9th and March 15th (can get exact date)
A letter was issued describing multiple airbag recalls dating back to 2016.
March 24 2023
Engine started shifting gears harder. No engine light. Oil life at 60%. Last oil change was preformed 121,500 miles. At 123,800 I preformed an oil change using the same oil that was written on the last oils change sticker. The oil life never increased.
March 26 The airbag light, check engine light, and hazardous conditions light turned on and never turned off. Developed a p303 engine code. Mechanical problems including engine misfire on cylinder 3 and a hard start. Mechanical issues never improved even after a tune up and attempting to fix all possible causes. List of what I spent to try and fix with receipts.
Spark plugs Coil packs Battery Fuel injector Tools Sea foam Oil Mass airflow cleaner Throttle body cleaner
April 3rd
Took vehicle to Honda dealership to replace airbags and have misfire diagnosed. Honda dealership declared engine failure with a dropped valve. Was quoted 3,000 to fix.
Communicated with Eddie the mechanical issues and requested compensation for selling me a dead engine. I asked questions regarding my warranty and discovered I was never given an official warranty in writing. Eddie said “ we have you a 30 day warranty on the engine and transmission only. It is in the purchase contract.” However upon inspection it was not. Asked him about the vehicle being subject to recalls and he denied that it was. This is when I discovered the odd verbiage on the CarFax about a rebuilt title issued in error after an insurance company deemed the car a total loss. Eddie agreed to give me a car of lesser value, then listed said car. Eddie insisted on communicating through voice notes and over the phone and not through text. I was not able to communicate over the phone at that time.
Arranged to trade cars on May 11th, however on Tuesday April 11, my engine started smoking and it is not safe the transport the vehicle back to Massachusetts. Also after reading a negative review about someone in my similar situation trading in a car to him, then later that car wasn’t suitable as well, I decided not to trade in. Id rather have my money back so I can purchase a safe, reliable vehicle than gamble with doing business with him again and trusting his vehicles.

2023.06.02 20:08 deadlycfx Water softener and Filtration
I need to replace an old water softener setup outside and prefer to do it myself if it's that much cheaper. I would like both the water softener and filtration system. We have 6 people with 4 bathrooms and the hardness is around 10 gpg. I live in Houston, TX. I know to go with fleck 5600 or Clack Ws1 when DIY, but I mostly see system with softener only.
I have a company that can installed the whole system for $2900 with this spec:
Fleck 5600 ,1" bypass, 48k grain capacity, weather cover for valve, 10"x54" mineral tank, effective flow rate of 12gpm. Carbon media maintenance every 12-18 months. 5 years warranty
I also saw this system online that cost close to $2800 for 4-6 bathrooms. I do have to buy some extra parts to connect and install it myself, so just say it's around $2900. It seems to be a better system, since they claim media change only need replace every 10 years/1 million gallon. I do need to change the micron filter every 6 to 9 months. Supposedly lifetime warranty.

La Follette (Progressive) Vice President: Hiram Johnson (Progressive) President Pro-Tempore: William Borah (Progressive) Speaker of the House: Henry Allen Cooper (Progressive) Secretary of State: Bainbridge Colby Secretary of Treasury: Joshua W. Alexander Secretary of War: Oscar Underwood Attorney General: Clarence Darrow Postmaster General: Amos Pinchot Secretary of the Interior: Gifford Pinchot Secretary of Agriculture: Henry A. Wallace Secretary of Commerce: William J. Many social and economic changes have been witnessed, boosting America’s stature and helping the common man. Due to this, the progressives have stayed in power for 12 years straight, under Roosevelt, Cummins, and La Follette. However, in recent years it has been declining as the Communists, Socialists, and Democratic-Republicans attempt to unseat them from power. This has been further exacerbated by the failure of La Follette in controlling the depression of 1920-21 which showed in further Progressive losses in the midterms of 1922. However, unlike previous administrations, La Follette was also able to send 4 more judges to the supreme court, leading to an 8-1 progressive majority in the supreme court. Legislation Passed National Park Criminal Jurisdiction Act of 1920 Emergency Tariff of 1921 Budget and Accounting Act of 1921 19th Amendment (War Referendum) 20th Amendment (Prohibition) Patent Act of 1922 Flood Control Act of 1923 World War Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 Candidates: President: Robert M. La Follette of Wisconsin Robert M. La Follette was President (1920-Present), former Senate Pro-Tempore (1916-1920), former Senator from Wisconsin (1906-1920), and former governor of Wisconsin (1901-1906). Robert M. La Follette is a very skilled orator and populist, garnering large crowds, just like Theodore Roosevelt. Robert M. La Follette is also ridiculed by some of his critics for only joining the Progressive Party in 1916 after it became clear that staying Republican was not going to help him. He is also often blamed for the Depression of 1920-21 and his critics use it as an example of his ineffective leadership. He still has a lot of popular support and remains a front-runner in the primaries. President Robert M. La Follette Secretary of the Interior: Gifford Pinchot of Pennsylvania Gifford Pinchot was Secretary of the Interior (1920-Present) and Chief of the US Forest Service (1905-1910). Gifford Pinchot is most well known for his environmental protection policies and promises to continue them, similar to the Roosevelt era. Pinchot is a widely celebrated figure due to his popularity and ability to compromise with other parties to ensure the betterment of America. He is often shown as incompetent and inexperienced by his critics and not progressive enough. Secretary of the Interior Gifford Pinchot Governor-General of the Philippines: Leonard Wood of Massachusetts Leonard Wood was Governor-General of the Philippines (1921-Present), Chief of the US Army (1910-1914), Governer of Moro Province (1903-1906), and Governer-General of Cuba (1899-1902). Leonard Wood is often seen as the personification of Roosevelt’s military career and his competence as president and has a large backing amongst pro-war progressives and even Roosevelt’s family. He is often shown as having no political experience whatsoever and will just become a very incompetent president. His popularity is large and soaring and he has the backing of many influential members of the party.
