I am if the source is trustworthy - How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Reliable build quality, USB type c ports, at least 3. 2 thunderbolt 4 ports. 12 or 13th gen i7 or i9. 32 gig RAM, 2 terabytes ssd - Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
Please don't recommend a gaming laptop, I don't need GPU. This is going to be strictly be used for the DAW. Type of music is just a small rock band, so most likely no more than 16 simultaneous inputs. I want to be capable of tracking the full band live, but usually it will just be 3 inputs at a time. There won't be many plugins, but mixing and mastering will be done on the laptop too. I know exactly what I want when it comes to everything except the CPU. I don't know how to find what will be best for me. As far as I know i7 and i9 12th or 13th gen is safe, but there are like >5 i7s and i9s. The Presonus guy says that single core speed is a must. More cores with high single core speed (not turbo max but just normal running GHz) is what I'm looking for. I really don't know anything about computers, I'm just trying my best to get something that will handle what I'm doing and last for several years. I keep getting mixed reviews about Dell and HP. Lenovo seems well reviewed.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. [Apollo has been a big help to taking care of this sub!]
Even if you’re not a mobile user and don’t use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn’t only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What’s the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren’t able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn’t something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn’t the goal, and it isn’t the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they’ve broken, we’ll use the community and buzz we’ve built between then and now as a tool for further action.

Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord \- but please don’t pester mods you don’t know by simply spamming their modmail. 3. Boycott and spread the word…to Reddit’s competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support! 4. Don’t be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Trick Room - this move causes all slow enemies to act first and fast enemies to act last for a duration
Taunt - Causes the enemy to be unable to use non-damaging moves for a duration
Stealth Rock / Spikes / Sticky Web / Toxic Spikes - these are what we call "Entry Hazard" moves where it takes effect once an enemy comes in (like in waves such as Calyx battles). They will deal damage / lower stats / or apply DoT, statuses, or debuffs.
Counter / Magic Coat - The user lets themselves to be attacked in order to redirect the damage back at the attacker with double the amount.
Destiny Bond - if the user dies, the killer also dies
Revival Blessing - literally revives a character
King's Shield / Baneful Bunker / Spiky Shield - some one time protection status that causes attackers to have their stats reduced / receive statuses or DoTs / or take damage
Bullet Seed / Dragon Darts / Rock Blast / etc. - These moves are what we call "Multi-Strike" moves, in that they will randomly attack 2 to 5 times. Each attack is its own instance of damage, with each strike having a chance to become critical hits. Would be nice against enemies like the shielding robot or reviving zombies to immediately attack them right after they lose their buffs.
Dig / Fly / Dive / Shadow Force / etc. - These moves make the user disappear from the battle, essentially making them immune from taking damage or receive healing (This is called a semi-invulnerable turn). Then come back on the next turn to attack the target...which takes up a turn too. the move Sky Drop makes both the user and target semi-invulnerable.
Foul Play - uses the target's own damage to attack them. Finally, something to use against those goddamn bosses with those un-erasable damage buffs!
Quash - makes the target's turn go straight downwards.

The Badly Poisoned Status - a DoT that takes like 3% of a target's Max HP but grows larger by +3 or 5% every turn (eventually reaching to 100% of a target's Max HP if they keep healing themselves).
Unaware - a passive ability that makes the user ignore any stat changes from enemies like increased damage and defenses.....but also makes the user ignore their own stat changes as well. This makes the user and the enemy exchange raw damage using raw defenses with each other.
Flame Body / Cute Charm / Static / etc. - passive abilities that has a chance to apply status effects on the attacker
Agile Style / Strong Style - a one-time mechanic used in Pokemon Legendes: Arceus where using Agile Style makes the attack weaker but go first, and Strong Style makes the attack stronger but moves the user's turn downwards.

At first, I started a regular emerald playthrough, and then I wanted to be able to actually catch every pokemon in the game, so I restarted on perfect emerald. I was originally going to use Agron, manectric, gardevoir, and mudkip as starter. I'm not sure what to use for a grass pokemon and a dragon/flying, I have access to all pokemon from gen I-III. Any input is appreciated! :)

Does anyone else think that the system needs a serious overhaul? It isn't being used for ranking or matchmaking purposes anymore. The only thing it determines is what bonus you get for end of month. Depipping hurts progress for no reason, and since you can't drop your grade anyway, a lot of hard work can go to waste if the matchmaking puts you with people who are clearly above your skill level, or with people who are so below your skill level that it's tough to have decent enough chases for a pip, or on survivor side, teammates who are simply not great that can lead to you losing pips without a chance of recovery.
Also, some of the things that you get points deducted for simply make no sense. For example, the Malicious emblem takes points away if the survivors heal, and gives them to you for injuring and hooking survivors. This leads to scenarios where you injure someone for pressure, but are penalized for having them waste time healing. Gatekeeper has an objective that is completely out of your control. You can't stop a good team of survivors from finishing gens across the map, and requiring the killer to have the gates remain closed is simply impossible if the team has already powered the gens with 3-4 survivors left. Chaser literally doesn't make sense. If chases go too quickly, you aren't rewarded with anything, and if you instadown them, either by power or by exposure, you only get points proportionate to one hit, and if the chase didn't even start, you get nothing at all. Devour is pretty much the only emblem I agree with, but having to sacrifice a pip in order to let a survivor go, or having them got out through hatch, feels bad.
Same goes for survivor side, albeit, much easier to accomplish. If a killer chases you, it is inevitable that you will get hit, or go down. The Evader emblem rewards you more for stealth and staying away from chases, rather than taking them. Lightbringer is really easy to get, but in some games, can be really hard to get any progress in if you're chased for most of it. Benevolent is confusing. Points are deducted for hook states and unsafe rescues, and added for healing and safe unhooks, alongside a base value, and no points are deducted for injuries, which raises the question of why healing injuries deducts points from killer Malicious emblem, but being injured as survivor doesn't reduce their emblem. Unbroken is poorly designed from the ground up. If the game is balanced averagely, you will get hooked, immediately removing the possibility of full pips. And if you die, you can only get silver, despite the fact that you could've been the best looper and gen jockey on the team.
These emblems were poorly designed before, but now they are downright useless. They were never indicative of skill, and they punish players for making the objectively right decisions, as well as punishing them for things that are out of their control. And depipping is simply punishing for the sake of punishment. Grades only give bloodpoints now, so why all the arbitrary restrictions?

The Evader emblem rewards you more for stealth and staying away from chases, rather than taking them. Lightbringer is really easy to get, but in some games, can be really hard to get any progress in if you're chased for most of it. Benevolent is confusing. Points are deducted for hook states and unsafe rescues, and added for healing and safe unhooks, alongside a base value, and no points are deducted for injuries, which raises the question of why healing injuries deducts points from killer Malicious emblem, but being injured as survivor doesn't reduce their emblem. Unbroken is poorly designed from the ground up. If the game is balanced averagely, you will get hooked, immediately removing the possibility of full pips. And if you die, you can only get silver, despite the fact that you could've been the best looper and gen jockey on the team.
These emblems were poorly designed before, but now they are downright useless. They were never indicative of skill, and they punish players for making the objectively right decisions, as well as punishing them for things that are out of their control. And depipping is simply punishing for the sake of punishment. Grades only give bloodpoints now, so why all the arbitrary restrictions?

Okay, no offence to everyone who's apart of this community (for the most part, at least), but, I can't take all this back-and-forth anymore
I haven't been on Reddit long, but part of the reasons I made an account and started viewing this community was for two reasons: 1. Emotionally deal with the departure of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu by finding those who watched and enjoyed THE ENTIRETY of his time on screen, losses and all. And 2. Find a way to enjoy the new series, Pokemon Horizons, since I can't find myself invested in it or even really watch it like the previous series. But, unfortunately, neither has been working out (The former has been working out better than the latter, but not by a whole lot). And, as messed up as it may be to say, certain fans are the reason for that. Now, I can go into vivid detail about why fans are making it hard to enjoy the series, primarily Horizons and/or two or three protagonists in particular, up for certain fans, but, I feel it'll be pointless (Heck, I doubt most, if any, of you will read this and/or be understanding). All I can say is the toxicity going on around here and other sites about the new series is not making being a Pokemon anime fan, or at least an Ash fan, enjoyable any longer

2023.06.07 01:39 bimbiibop Help: feeling bad, common sparrow birds were nesting in dryer vent & the apartment evicted them and threw away their nest.
The birds started nesting may 21st, so about 2.5 weeks ago. I let the apartment manager know immediately hoping it could be moved before they really settled in. It took til today to remove of nest.

Hey everyone, first time poster here and wanted to get some additional feedback for my injury. This has been going on for over 2 years (since October 2020) and after MRI imaging (in June 2022), EMG tests, oral steroids, muscle relaxers, one steroid injection, and going through different PTs; I've really hit a dead end on what to do and my mental health has also been taking a huge toll. If anyone has any advice or thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated.
Background: I am really not sure on how this occurred - I was doing romanian deadlifts in October 2020 with 15 lbs. on each side of a regular bar (so pretty lightweight), and felt a slight twinge in my lower left back as I was performing reps. This wasn't like a typical injury where I felt that I had to immediately stop, and continued on with my workout and felt fine in the following days. After a few weeks however, I started getting some pain in my left glutes, and it basically progressed into tingling down the outer left portion of my calf and left side of the foot with the pinky toe. I was on and off with rehab, and it eventually progressed into the current symptoms below. I'm guessing it was gradual, but am just surprised doing romanian deadlifts at such a light weight could have caused it.
Current symptoms: Minor pain in left glute with tingling sensation going down outer left side of calf and left foot including pinky toe. There is also minor pain in my lower left back. I don't have any tingling in my hamstrings, and do not have any actual pain, numbness, or weakness. The tingling comes and goes, and is sometimes quite annoying and aggravating (intensity of tingling is mild to moderate). Sitting for long periods of time can sometimes cause the symptoms to appear, but this is inconsistent and sometimes I feel fine sitting (tested in the same chair). I also don't exacerbate my symptoms through hip hinging or flexing my spine, this one is really confusing me as I thought bending my back should elicit the symptoms. One thing I want to point out is when I tried weight lifting again earlier this year, I actually did start getting a dull pressure feeling in my back when I flexed my spine. That was the only time (around January - February 2023) I ever got pain from bending over (did not increase tingling, just a strong aching pressure in my lower back), but it has now disappeared after I've stopped weight lifting.
Diagnosis: I've included the radiologist report and some images, but one thing I wanted to point out that upon reviewing the report with my orthopedic doctor, he that there was "unclear etyology for left leg sciatica" (informed me verbally and in his own report). Essentially, there were mild disc bulges at L4-L5 and L5-S1 but no nerve compression, so he was unsure on what was causing the sciatica. This and the fact that I don't really get any pain from bending over has confused me a lot, as I don't know why I am having these strong tingling sensations down my leg. The straight leg test and slump test were also negative. I asked a PT if it was piriformis syndrome but he ruled that out and said it could be "glute medius tendinopathy" (which explains the tingling, while the disc bulge would explain my back pain). Another PT said that my sciatica was caused by chemical irritation from the disc bulge, as I passed all the physical tests he performed (so he thinks it's not a mechanical issue). I'm also wondering if it may because the MRI is taken when lying down, so the nerve compression may not show since lying down doesn't put a lot of pressure on the back.
Other notes: I've gone through 2 different PTs, and have tried exercises such as mackenzie press up, glute bridges, side lying leg lifts, clamshells, planks, side planks, glute stretches, nerve glides, bird dogs, deadbugs, etc. but haven't seen a lot of promising results. None of these however have made my symptoms worse I think, the road to 100% recovery has just been ongoing for so long. I can provide more detail on what all specific exercises I've done if needed in the comments also. I'm currently with a third PT and am continuing his program. I'm thinking about getting another MRI report since last one was in June 2022 if current PT does not at least help reduce symptoms by mid July, but would really rather not...right now I'm just dedicating myself to PT and walking a lot daily.
If anyone could take a look at the MRI report and images and provide any feedback on how significant the bulge is, what may be causing my sciatica, and any tips in resolving this that would be awesome. After I just got done "playing" a 40 minute match against a knight who was camping a 3 gen from the start of the match (down to even dropping chases if they got a few meters from any gens lol), it got me thinking about what BHVR actually plans to do about this.
While there are times when survivor teams do genuinely 3 gen themselves and I don't want to reward survivors for bad gameplay, there are plenty of examples of killers committing to 3 gens for whole rounds, with builds setup for it, and dragging out matches for ages. This obviously isn't a good experience even with a co-ordinated team.
I think we've all experienced a match like this at one point, and while in a competitive scenario I think saying "just don't get 3 genned" is fine, this is mostly a casual game and 3 gens simply aren't fun for either side to deal with in a long match.
BHVR said they're now looking into measures to prevent things like slugging, facecamping, and 3 genning, I'm curious as to what people on here would want to see them actually implement, or if they should implement anything at all? Overall I think they should.
There's a few ideas I think they should be looking at here:
This the form that the facecamp meter solution took for facecamping. It doesn't prevent someone from trying to facecamp entirely, but it gives survivors better tools to deal with it once it does happen.
I don't know what that would look like specifically for 3 gens, but I have some thoughts:
Moving gens around is probably the easiest solution that's still effective, and requires the least amount of balance changes for other perks. They could really just drop it in the current game as is and address a lot of the problems. If BHVR wanted to implement something within the year and they don't have another objective already in the pipeline, this would be where I'd imagine they'll go.
I'd be curious to see what the sub thinks!

- Is there a way to prevent a normal match from getting forced into a 3 gen, without punishing fair killer players? This would still allow survivors to screw themselves over, but would prevent killers from commiting to setting it up from the start, preventing the scenario I had today.
- Is there a fair way of preventing matches from going on for ages in the event that a 3 gen does happen? I don't think anyone, killer players included, want to play gen kick gymnastics for 40 minutes. That's not fun for anyone, and is the main problem with 3 gen's imo. I don't think many people would complain about it as much if a 3 gen was just played out like a normal loss and happened in a timely manner. It's the time waste that's annoying, not the loss.
- Is there a mechanic or change they can implement to allow survivors to break a 3 gen in soloq, without forcing them to bring gen rushing builds every match, that can also be fair for killer? I'm all for survivors being prepared for things before a match, but perks and toolboxes are not a good long term solution. Those things should be there to help, but they're not a fix for core gameplay problems. Same way buffing DS isn't a fix for tunneling/facecamping, or buffing unbreakable isn't a fix for slugging. Core gameplay problems require core gameplay changes.
This the form that the facecamp meter solution took for facecamping. It doesn't prevent someone from trying to facecamp entirely, but it gives survivors better tools to deal with it once it does happen.
I don't know what that would look like specifically for 3 gens, but I have some thoughts:
- Limiting gen kicking/kick perks somehow once certain criteria is met (to prevent it effecting normal killer gameplay). I think this could work in theory but it's a fairly weak solution that messes with balance a lot and would be difficult to get right.
- Giving survivors some sort of boost if they go long enough without a gen getting completed (to prevent waiting to get gens done faster, it would have to be a fair bit slower over the course of the game, as to only help if gens weren't getting done anyways). Again, I think this could work but it's fairly weak and messes with balance.
- Moving gens around once specific criteria is met. Maybe once they've been kicked enough times, or a certain amount of time passes without any gens completing. This is probably the easiest solution that I think would still be fairly effective and fair to both sides if done correctly. Killers could still patrol 3 gens and get value out of them, but once the criteria is met they get moved around to prevent matches from dragging out.
- Giving an alternate objective. Perhaps one that only becomes active after a certain amount of time passes in the match, or once a certain amount of gens get done to prevent survivors ignoring gens entirely. This way killers still get value out of preventing gen completions, by setting up 3 gens, and from gen regression perks that make up most of killers good perks, but they can't just camp a 3 gen forever to prevent survivors from moving forward. They would still have to commit to chases and find survivors, or risk them completing a slower, alternate objective.
Moving gens around is probably the easiest solution that's still effective, and requires the least amount of balance changes for other perks. They could really just drop it in the current game as is and address a lot of the problems. If BHVR wanted to implement something within the year and they don't have another objective already in the pipeline, this would be where I'd imagine they'll go.

I’m looking at laptops for architecture school and had decided that I like the look of the Thinkpad range. My budget sits around £1000 so the T14 Gen 3 would be a good option but not really sure how it works with CAD and modelling software. Does anyone have experience using this laptop, or can you recommend and alternative laptop in this range? Thanks.
