Possible Cow Level Location
Messing around in Ked Bardu when I found this fountain with an interact-able old tablet in the top left (text in image 1) and the Oxen God of the East (text in image 2) in a fountain (location in image 3). Might be a hint to finding the cow level that most certainly doesn't exist... or at least a nod to the joke.

2023.06.11 01:24 clegay15 Tales of Middle Earth Flavor Critique: Denethor, Ruling Steward

Preface:
I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan; I re-read the books typically once a year. I also adore the movies, and find all of Tolkien's legendarium absolutely awesome. Truly one of my favorite hobbies so I'd like to offer some critiques and excitement of flavor gems from Tales of Middle Earth. I won't do every card, but I'll comment on some individual cards and how WOTC did on it. I will comment on the cards abilities but only insofar as it impacts the flavor; i.e. what the card is doing not power level, etc.
To be clear: I understand there are sacrifices you need to make for the greater game, and sometimes those come first. For these articles: I am looking at each card in a vacuum, so if I seem harsh it's because I am using a single lens.
Next up: Denethor, Ruling Steward!

https://preview.redd.it/3mbjiqnpu95b1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a4550929fe7fbc1c4b6bf1beac06706628a67a2
Flavor Preface
Denethor is the Ruling Steward, ruling "in the stead" of the King as the Stewards have done for centuries. Denethor, more than anything, is a proud man. A man who years for things to stay as they are, who wants for his son (Boromir) to continue after him. And yet, Denethor is also a complex man. Denethor resists Sauron, not just for his own sake, but to truly resist and protect Gondor from evil.
Denethor's twin weaknesses are his pride and his grief. Unlike in the movies: Denethor prepares Gondor for the storm. He calls on Gondor's armies to aid Minas Tirith in the siege, both lights the beacons requesting aid from Rohan and sending a messenger to Theoden. But when Denethor sees his son seemingly dead: he loses heart, abandoning his post and forcing Gandalf to step into the role Denethor should have played.
But, crucially, Denethor has reason to feel hopeless. Denethor, foolishly, used the Palantir kept in Minas Tirith to try to find more information in his war against Sauron, and Sauron used this to show Denethor his full strength. Here is what Denethor saw:
"For a little space you may triumph on the field, for a day. But against the Power then now arises there is no victory. To this City only the first finger of its hand has yet been stretched. All the East is moving. And even now the wind of thy hope cheats thee and wafts up Anduin a fleet with black sails. The West has failed. it is time for all to depart who would not be slaves."
In fact, Gandalf confirms this in "The Last Debate" (and it is crucial to Tolkien's story): there is no victory to be had by force of arms. The only way to defeat Sauron militarily is to use the Ring; but to use the Ring is to become the Dark Lord yourself. It is the humility that Gandalf, Elrond, Aragorn, and crucially the Hobbits show by rejecting the Ring and seeking to destroy it that the War of the Ring is won.
Finally, Denethor's motivations are both sympathetic and poor. Here is Denethor explaining himself to Gandalf:
"I would have things as they were in all the days of my life," answered Denethor, "and in the days of my long fathers before me: to be the Lord of this City in peace, and leave my chair to a son after me, who would be his own master and no wizard's pupil."
Denethor wants what many would want: for things in their good life to stay the same. To pass on an inheritance to their children, and to live in peace. But part of life, as Tolkien points out, is to accept change and to move with it. Denethor is not willing to do this, and chooses annihilation instead.
Color
Denethor is an incredibly complex character. I could see arguments for White, Blue, Black and Green in his character. I think White is necessary as a Lord of the City who wants to live in peace, and depending on what aspects of his character you want to emphasize you could pick the others. White-Black is fine, and this plays into his desire for power (Denethor himself lusted after the Ring) and to use pawns on the chessboard.
Abilities
I like the second ability as Denethor makes specific reference to using pawns to defeat your enemies. Sacrificing your other creatures to his plans so he can chip away at the enemy makes sense. The first is not quite my favorite, but I like how it works with his first ability and can be repeated over and over.
2/4 is fine; Denethor is not feeble (like Theoden was) but instead chooses not to fight.

2023.06.11 01:00 bamafoot1 It's been nearly 2 weeks now, and I'm still reeling

To set the scene, from the very beginning, the day before my birthday, nearly two weeks ago. I (29NB) was at my couple's house (I have been openly polyamorous for several years) and texting my husband (27M). He texted me that he was planning an amazing surprise for the next day, my birthday, and he promised me it would be a birthday I would never forget. We set up plans to meet up with my couple and their kids the next day to play in the park, and then he would take me to my surprise, I went to bed, ready for my birthday the next day, excited to get to spend the day with my favorite people.
The next day, I get packed up with my couple and their kids, and we head to the park to meet with my husband, and we found him there quickly. I ran up, gave him a big hug and a kiss, and put my stuff in his car. He told me my surprise was that he had taken the rest of the week off, and we were going 6 hours north to visit my family for the rest of the week. He had taken care of everything. I was so excited, I could barely contain myself. I spent time at the park with my favorite people, we played on the playground, we saw fish and turtles, we took family pictures together, and I was truly convinced that I had the best birthday ever. Soon enough, it was time for my husband and I to get onto the road, and we drove up north.
He held my hand all throughout the drive, we talked about any and everything, it was a beautiful drive. I was ecstatic, I was thrilled to be getting to see my parents, my best friend in the world, all the people I missed after moving away to be with him 8 years ago. I was making plans, practically vibrating with how happy I was. Eventually the 6 hour drive was over, and we were pulling into my parent's driveway.
We got out of the car, we walked inside, hugged my parents, talked for a bit, and then he pulled me aside. "Babe, I have to get some eye drops from CVS, I think I left mine at home." I nodded, I walked with him to the door, and he walked out to the sidewalk. He called me over to him, he pulled me into a big hug, gave me a kiss, and told me he would be right back. I watched him get into the car and drive away.
I walked back up to the porch to hang out with my mom, excitedly talking about our plans for the week. Time passed so quickly before I realized he had been gone a lot longer than I would have thought. I called him, he sent me to voicemail with a text that he would call back. I resolved to be patient, wait a little bit longer. About 15 minutes later, I texted, nothing. A few more minutes, I called him back, and he sent me to voicemail again. It is at this time, I am starting to panic. I was worried something bad had happened to him, I walked outside to try and call him again, and a text comes through. It was a long text, beginning with my dead name, and ending in telling be we were over, he was leaving me.
I collapsed to my knees on the sidewalk in front of my parents house. I was too destroyed to even cry, I was too devastated to move. I tried to get him to call me back, but I knew he wouldn't... I knew he wouldn't... I entered planning mode, I needed to figure out my whole life now. I called my couple, and i eventually cried. I stayed with my parents for a few days before I could catch a ride back to where my couple lived, they agreed to take me in. The help with bills and childcare is definitely a good bargaining chip.

I've lived in anger for nearly 2 weeks, I have lived in nothing but anger, and a bit of despair. I know I will get through it, I just needed to get it out

2023.06.11 00:56 djoewah2020 My redesign of the East African Community (and potentially soon to be East African Federation) Flag. Symbolism explained. Please critique !

My redesign of the East African Community (and potentially soon to be East African Federation) Flag. Symbolism explained. Please critique !
I wasn’t convinced with the EAC/EAF flag, the idea in the colours is there but I find too saturated. Also I don’t like text. So I read up on the symbolism to see how I could spin it differently.
Their 2003 flag act reads :
Blue: Lake Victoria signifying the unity of the EAC Partner States.
White, Black, Green, Yellow, Red: Representing the different colours of the flags of each of the EAC Partner States.
Handshake: East African Community.
Centre: Emblem of the East African Community.
I so I decided I wanted to keep the colours since I think even if there are a lot they are great. I wanted to scrap their emblem for something simpler. I came across the Elephant tusk gate in Mombasa (see photo #4) while looking for symbols and it just seemed right. From what I understood Mombasa is quite important in the history of Kenya but also eastern Africa, the elephants and their tusks are associated with strength and power in the local cultures (and also many other cultures worldwide).
I messed around with a few designs and these were my 2 favourites even though I think I prefer the first one. Tell me which one you prefer (or love or dislike or hate and why !)
My only regret is that after making the flags I discovered that the monument was of colonial origin, which I imagine some people can disapprove of. However it seems that the people of Mombasa have claimed it as their own.
Overall I’m really really proud of these redesigns (but mainly the first one). I’m very pleased not only by the symbolism but also love it aesthetically.
Cheers, Djoewah

2023.06.11 00:26 ln4444 Stay away from this Company Beacon Fire Solution INC, New Jersey

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MONEY, AND TIME, AND DESTROY YOUR TECH CAREER. THEY TOLD YOU TO LIE ON YOUR RESUME UP TO 7,8 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.
NO INSURANCE, NO BENEFITS, IF THERE IS NO CLIENT. THE SALARY IS WAY TOO LOW THAN OTHER COMPANIES. SALARY AFTER TAX AND INSURANCE (THEY DEDUCT FROM YOUR PAYROLL APPRX UNDER 4300 per month, which is way low than a junior full stack developer ). NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANY US CITIZEN OR GREEN CARD HOLDER (PLEASE IF YOU ARE US CITIZEN, PLEASE REPORT THIS COMPANY TO THE GOVERNMENT) AND EVEN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. THIS IS NOT WORTH IT!!! FIND ANOTHER COMPANY IMMEDIATELY !!!co
You will not get paid yet but you MUST PAY THE RENT AND OTHER EXPENSES IF YOU MOVE TO NEW JERSEY. YOU HAVE NO INCOME AT ALL (MUST SPEND) IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY CLIENTS.
If you want to hear my whole story about this company and see any similarities please quit immediately, and continue to read:
I was one of the candidates and got an offer from this company. First, there will be a person named "Anna" or some people who approached you after applying on Handshake, LinkedIn, or any job search website. They definitely will give you an offer after a couple of interview rounds, then they ask you to join their training program. Now, Your nightmare just begin !!!
After you complete the online training within 3 months (which cover some basic about JavaScript for my case). You will need to move to New Jersey. For those who live in the western states like CA (like most of my friends they come from California, Chicago, ...) you need to move in and pay for the rent no matter what. They will assign 3, or 4 people to an apartment and you have to pay the rent. I paid appx $700 per month (I think the rent may increase now)
After relocating to the company's location they assign you to stay (50 Millstone Rd, Building 300. Suite 120, East Windsor, NJ 08520). They MUST COME TO THE OFFICE EVERY SINGLE DAY. They will give you time to practice coding, do some leetcode, build projects, ... and start working on your resume which you MUST LIE. YES, you did not hear it wrong, COMPLETELY LIE ON YOUR RESUME. They TOLD you to find any companies (not too famous or not too big) then I put 2,3 companies to your resume and make it up to show you have at least 5 years of experience even if you just graduate. Depending on the requirement of the vendor (another third IT consultant that connects you to their clients like Goldman Sach, Google, Samsung, EOG, American Express, and bla bla bla ... ), you need to make up your resume. Every week, you need to practice behavior questions with an Indian girl, and of course, you HAVE TO FAKE IT ALL. LIE LIKE THE SAME ON YOUR RESUME.
At this point, some of my friends found this absolutely ridiculous and left. And you know what? They ask you to pay UP TO $9000 even more if you signed the contract and quit. (One of my friends paid the amount which is absolutely ridiculous and nonsense at)
THEN, if the marketing team assigns you to a client. You will have an interview with a vendor round and a client round. Some interviews directly come from clients. They will send you the list of all previous interview questions you need to learn and practice. In the interview, the coaches will stay behind the screen and support you during your interview. "SUPPORT" WHAT A JOKE! They send you all the answers that you are asked by the interviewer which is completely cheating. You will be on a group on Wechat, open Wechat during the interview and they will type the answer on the Wechat group in order for you to answer the questions.
The whole process is completely fake, a lie and it will destroy you if you are lucky enough to get an offer and then start working with a client. Another night just starts, because you lied on your resume for about 7 to 8 years of experience. Your team expects that you have that experience that you do not have. How do you handle the daily task of 7 to 8 years of an experienced developer? In fact, you just graduate.
The whole thing is just really ridiculous.

2023.06.11 00:11 Lordofthe305 CPWA Deception

CPWA Deception
The show opens with a moment of silence and a ten-bell salute for The late Iron Sheik.
The Iron Sheik 1942-2023
https://preview.redd.it/g1ebnfn9y75b1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e961d66521de1670340c07a9b54037e25452a79
We open with a video package highlighting Shelton Jordan winning the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones scheming to regain the gold. We then see highlights of Keith Yang's matches and the return of Logan Lemming. We are then shown highlights of the Super Junior Carnival tournament, more specifically, Rory Irvine and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon's path to the finals. The video package ends with slowed-down clips of Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, LeJuan Jones, and Shelton Jordan, who raises the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship over his head.
Sticky Fingaz's "Man Up" plays in the arena as we see pyro go off for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd.
Brian Kinsley: We welcome to CPWA Annihilation! We are coming to you live from Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, we have an action-packed pay-per-view that includes six championship matches, including the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as Shelton Jordan defends his title against Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones.
Anthony Harris: Plus, we have the finals of the Super Junior Carnival tournament. I can't wait for that to go down.
Sir Samuel Stewart: It's definitely going to be a thriller of an event, and I think we may see some new champions.
Brian Kinsley: Let's get right to the action.
We cut to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for...
Crowd: ONE FALL!
Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, the team of Chip Day, Miles Orozco, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson.
Brian Kinsley: Devon Gatlin-Tyson looked like a would-be favorite to win the Super Junior Carnival tournament, but came up short against "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon in the semifinals.
Anthony Harris: Give Chip Day and Miles Orozco credit for helping DGT with those victories up to that point. I still believe he's going to be CPWA Cruiserweight Champion one day.
80s Synth Track Nightscapes plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, from Los Angeles, the team of Mark Starr and Ricky Vice, StarrVice!
Brian Kinsley: Mark Starr and Ricky Vice competed in the Super Junior Carnival tournament, but it would be Ricky Vice who would face Devon Gatlin-Tyson in the quarterfinals and would lose thanks to the interference of the aforementioned Chip Day and Miles Orozco.
Sir Samuel Stewart: It really hurt Ricky's chances, but he wasn't the only one affected by The Olympians' number game.
M.O.P.'s "Fly N***a Hill F***a" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Their tag team partner, from Brooklyn, New York, he is one-half of the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, "The Hi-Fli Kid," Jerome Evans.

Brian Kinsley: "The Hi-Fli Kid" took on Devon Gatlin-Tyson in the first round of the Super Junior Carnival tournament and while it was a tremendous match, it would be soured by the interference of Day and Orozco.
Anthony Harris: Best believe all three competitors want some payback on Chip, Orozco, and DGT. Don't get it twisted, however, StarrVice may be teaming up with "The Hi-Fli Kid," but they also got their eyes on regaining the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships.
Match 1: The Olympians (Chip Day, Miles Orozco, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson) vs. StarrVice (Mark Starr and Ricky Vice) and "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans
You would think that an opening match like this one would get the crowd hyped for the rest of the event, but it felt underwhelming at times. While the story here was StarrVice and "The Hi-Fli Kid" looking to get a measure of revenge on Chip Day and Miles Orozco, neither competitor was looking sharp in the ring. Devon Gatlin-Tyson carried much of the match for his team, which was the only highlight for the Olympians. The action then became a spotfest, leading toward the end of the match, where DGT nailed Mark Starr with a Split-Second DDT to get the win for his team.
2 out of 5 stars.
We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing CPWA World Heavyweight Champion Shelton Jordan. Shelton says that he's tired of LeJuan Jones's mind games and wants to put him away for good. He also says that he welcomes a challenge from Logan Lemming and Keith Yang, both of whom he will also defeat tonight.
We return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Television Championship.
Nu Breed's "Florida" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied by his alligator Sunshine, from the Sunshine State, he is the CPWA Television Champion, "Florida Man" Gary Strange
Brian Kinsley: The last time "Florida Man" Gary Strange held an open challenge for the CPWA Television Championship, he lost to The Mortician.
Sir Samuel Stewart: Only for him to regain it back a few days ago on Octane.
Anthony Harris: No thanks to Pretty Boy, who will defend the CPWA Hardcore Championship against The Mortician later on tonight.
Gary Strange enters the ring and takes the mic as Nu Breed's "Florida" stops playing.
Gary Strange: Well well well, Florida Man holds CPWA gold once again and looking to take on any challengers brave enough to challenge me. Come on, don't be shy. I'm ready for ya.
Yoshida Brothers' "Storm" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Kagoshima, Japan, he is Kenshiro Ishii.
Brian Kinsley: We haven't seen Kenshiro Ishii since High$takes and he looks more than ready to bring the fight.
Anthony Harris: Brotha looks jacked and he knows he means business.
Tego Calderon's "Mil Cosas" plays in the arena
Announcer: Finally, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, he is Ramon Vega!
Brian Kinsley: The last time we saw Ramon Vega, was back in January when he was teaming up with his brother Raymundo.
Sir Samuel Stewart: He took some time off to compete in his native Puerto Rico, but now he's back and looking to win some gold.
Match 2: CPWA Television Championship: "Florida Man" Gary Strange vs. Kenshiro Ishii vs. Ramon Vega
A solid yet rough-around-the-edges kind of match. There was lots of brawling from all three competitors, along with some technical wrestling from Ramon. It looked like Ramon Vega was close to winning the CPWA Television Championship, but "Florida Man" managed to prevent the three count from occurring. Gary Strange continued fighting back, leading to him hitting a WTF (Welcome To Florida) on Vega to get the three count and to retain the CPWA Television Championship.
3 out of 5 stars
We cut to the locker room area and we see "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones discussing strategy with Brother Julius about how to deal with Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, and possibly Logan Lemming. Brother Julius tells LeJuan to focus more on his match and that he will deal with the other competitors tonight. LeJuan nods and Brother Julius sets out to put his plans in motion.
We return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit.
Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on G String plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from the posh hills of the Hamptons, she is Priscilla Pierce.
Brian Kinsley: Priscilla Pierce won big a few days ago on Octane in tag team action with help from "The Dominican She-Devil," Ivy Fernandez.
Sir Samuel Stewart: Priscilla Pierce looks to be on the fast track to challenging for the CPWA Women's International Championship.
DaniLeigh Ft. Fivio Foreign "Dominican Mami" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And her tag team partner, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she is "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez
Brian Kinsley: "The Dominican She-Devil" may have won gold in Puerto Rico, but word has it that she may challenge for the CPWA Women's Championship.
Sir Samuel Stewart: It could be a possibility, but let's see what happens.
GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, from Osaka, Japan, she is the CPWA Women's International Champion, Shiori Yoshimura.
Brian Kinsley: Shiori Yoshimura gained a victory over Priscilla Pierce two weeks ago on Octane, but lost in tag team action a few days ago. She's looking to get a measure of revenge.
Anthony Harris: Shiori's going to be a fighting champion for CPWA, and I know she's got to be fuming after that loss.
Estrada de Estrela plays in the arena
Announcer: Her tag team partner, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, she is the CPWA Women's Champion, Cristina Moreira.
Brian Kinsley: Cristina Moreira has been kept busy ever since winning the CPWA Women's Championship. She's been on a media whirlwind in her native Brazil, promoting CPWA.
Anthony Harris: I would love to do a show in Brazil. To all our Brazilian fans out there, CPWA sees you!
Match 3: Shiori Yoshimura and Cristina Moreira vs. Priscilla Pierce and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez
Another solid match that saw some technical wrestling on display. While Cristina, Priscilla, and "The Dominican She-Devil" appear to be improving with their technical wrestling skills, Shiori was leagues ahead of them. Shiori controlled much of the match, even going as far as to utilize some power attacks. The match ended with Shiori hitting a Spinning Bison Bomb on Priscilla to get the win.

We cut to backstage and we see Kimberly Reynolds interviewing Rory Irvine. Rory says that nobody believed in him when he decided to enter the Super Junior Carnival tournament and that he could go all the way. Rory says that he's made believers out of those who have followed his journey through the tournament and knows that he is going to become the inaugural Super Junior Carnival Tournament winner and challenge for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship.
We return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit.
Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Commonwealth, the team of Owen Benoit-Jericho and the CPWA Cruiserweight Champion Kelly Lawton!
Brian Kinsley: Both Owen Benoit-Jericho and Kelly Lawton entered the Super Junior Carnival tournament and while OBJ managed to go further than Lawton, neither one was able to reach the grand finals.
Sir Samuel Stewart: I know Kelly Lawton has to be feeling some of type way about that loss. Let's hope he can redeem himself should Rory Irvine win the whole thing.
Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the team of Steve and Adam, the Odenkirks!
Brian Kinsley: Much like OBJ and Lawton, Steve and Adam Odenkirk also competed in the Super Junior Carnival tournament. Steve managed to reach the quarterfinals, while younger brother Adam lost in the first round.
Anthony Harris: The Odenkirk brothers look like they got something to prove and they're not looking to hold back anything.
Match 4: The Commonwealth (Kelly Lawton and Owen Benoit-Jericho) vs. The Odenkirks (Steve and Adam Odenkirk)
A solid tag team match that had a little something of everything: Technical wrestling, brawling, MMA, and high-flying. It was an evenly fought match until the Commonwealth uses underhanded tactics to keep the advantage in their favor, isolating Adam from Steve. Anytime Adam would tag in Steve, the referee did not see it. Eventually, Steve got the tag and was a house of fire, knocking down Lawton and OBJ. Steve looked to have the match won with a 450 Splash but "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams interfered on behalf of the Commonwealth, pushing Steve off the top rope. This allowed Lawton to hit the Outback Cutter on Steve to get the win for his team.
4 out of 5 stars.
We get a one-minute video package hyping up Pretty Boy and his path of destruction. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Hardcore Championship.
An organ cover to Runaway Casket plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Resting Peace Funeral Home, he is The Mortician!
Brian Kinsley: The Mortician lost the CPWA Television Championship, thanks to Pretty Boy, who maniacally beat the living daylights out of him.
Sir Samuel Stewart: The Mortician knows what it takes to win the CPWA Hardcore Championship, but against Pretty Boy, I don't know.
The arena lights go out and we hear an ominous female voice.
Ominous Female Voice: Pretty Boy...oh Pretty Boy...punish...them...all!
Glitter Wasteland's "Cold War (Nightcrawler Remix)" plays in the arena as blue and red lighting fill the arena.
Announcer: And his opponent, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion Pretty Boy!
Brian Kinsley: Pretty Boy has been on a rampage since winning the CPWA Hardcore Championship, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.
Anthony Harris: That man is cold-hearted. I don't think I've ever seen him blink once.
Match 5: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Pretty Boy (c) vs. The Mortician
If you wanted a balls-to-the-wall, knock-down, drag-out hardcore match, this one was it! The Mortician and Pretty Boy wasted no time beating the living hell out of each other, but Pretty Boy gained the upper hand. Pretty Boy threw the Mortician around like a rag doll at times, followed by beating him with clotheslines and rainmakers. The Mortician started to fight back, using steel chairs, lead pipes, and even the ring bell on Pretty Boy. The Mortician looked to have made some dents in Pretty Boy, causing him to bleed, but it only made Pretty Boy aggressive as he battered the Mortician, leading to a chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver for the win.
4 out of 5 stars.
After the match, Pretty Boy continued beating the Mortician. Suddenly, Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" (Elliot Loud version) plays in the arena
Brian Kinsley: IT'S MANGOD!!!
Mangod rushed the ring and started beating up Pretty Boy, causing him to flee. Mangod then headbutts the turnbuckles as the crowd cheers wildly. Mangod helps the Mortician to his feet, raising his hand to the crowd's approval.
***Intermission***
We cut back from intermission and we see Brother Julius walking down a hallway. He stops when Monroe Storm approaches him. Monroe tells Brother Julius that Logan Lemming has his sights on the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as well and will stop at nothing to get it. Brother Julius warns Monroe that Logan better not cross "The Number One Pick" or he knows what's good for him. Monroe scoffs and walks away. Brother Julius shakes his head and does the same.
we return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA International Championship.
The Wellerman plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Commonwealth, from Auckland, New Zealand, Jason Black
Brian Kinsley: We haven't seen Jason Black in a long time, and that's because he's been touring between Japan and his native New Zealand.
Sir Samuel Stewart: The Kiwi looks like he's poised to bring home some gold to The Commonwealth.
The March of Death theme plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is El Colibri
Brian Kinsley: El Colibri was one of the favorites to win the Super Junior Carnival, but it wasn't meant to be as he lost in the first round to "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon.
Anthony Harris: It was quite a shock, but let's see if he can rebound and get back to his winning ways.
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's "The Creator" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Finally, from Miami, Florida, he is the CPWA International Champion, Deron "Ron" Jordan.
Brian Kinsley: Deron "Ron" Jordan has been helping his brothers in their feud against "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, but here, he's looking to defend his CPWA International Championship.
Anthony Harris: Let's hope he can retain it to keep more gold in the family.
Match 6: CPWA International Championship: Deron "Ron" Jordan (c) vs. Jason Black vs. El Colibri
This match wasn't good, but it certainly wasn't bad either. It was all over the place at times as there were some brawling mixed with some high-flying from Ron and El Colibri. Jason Black had control of the match, beating down El Colibri, but Ron prevented any chance of a three-count from happening. Both Ron and El Colibri double-teamed Jason Black, but they would turn their attention to attacking each other. El Colibri had Ron in the La Mistica, but Jason Black broke the hold. With Ron out of the way, this allowed Jason to hit the Blackout on El Colibri for the win and become the new CPWA International Champion.
2 out of 5 stars.
We get a one-minute video package hyping up The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy) and their dominance over the Women's Tag Team Division. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championships.
"Hitman" plays in the arena
Announcer: And their opponents, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, they are the team of Crystal and Tracy, the Hart Sisters.
Brian Kinsley: We are in Canada, and the Hart Sisters are getting a huge ovation.
Sir Samuel Stewart: The Hart Sisters look to win big here tonight, and I have a feeling that they will.
Eminem's "Venom" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, they are the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, Carnage Ayano and La Venena.
Brian Kinsley: Carnage Ayano and La Venena are a dangerous combination of Japanese Strong Style wrestling and Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling.
Anthony Harris: These ladies are psychotic in the ring. I've seen their matches in Japan and Mexico, so I know what they can do.
Match 7: CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship: La Venena and Carnage Ayano (c) vs. The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy)
A somewhat decent match that had some great moments but at times, it was a botchfest, which was unusual for both teams. The Hart Sisters had control of the match, but Venena and Ayano started making a comeback. Crystal Hart managed to win the match for her team, placing Ayano in a sharpshooter to give her team victory and regain the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship.
2 out of 5 stars.
We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing Keith Yang on his title match. Keith says that he hopes that the third time is the charm and that he will become the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion.
We return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship.
GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, from Osaka, Japan, the team of Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura
Blake Shelton's "Good Ole Boys" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from the great state of Tennessee, Roy and Zechariah, the Newton Boys.
Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Finally, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are the CPWA Tag Team Champions, William and Jake, the Odenkirks!
Match 8: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship: The Odenkirks (William and Jake) (c) vs. Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura vs. The Newton Boys (Roy and Zechariah)
This was a chaotic match with tons of high spots and lots of brawling. At one point in the match, Jake Odenkirk and Zechariah Newton climbed atop the ladder and beat each other with forearms and fists, leading to both men crashing through a table. This was followed up by a 450 Frog Splash combo from Daigo Yoshimura. Roy Newton saw an opportunity to reach for the gold, only for Ryota Yoshimura to powerbomb him off the ladder and onto some chairs. Unbeknownst to Ryota, William climbed atop the ladder and retrieved the CPWA Tag Team Championships.
2 out of 5 stars.

We get a three-minute hype package about the Super Junior Carnival tournament, along with highlights featuring Rory Irvine and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon. The hype package ends with clips of Rory Irvine and Han Sang-Hoon staring at each other.
We cut back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is the grand finals of the CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament.
The O'Reillys and Paddyhats' "Barrels of Whiskey" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Dublin, Ireland, he is Rory Irvine.
Brian Kinsley: If you were to tell anyone that a young, plucky, yet scrappy wrestler from the Emerald Isle would find himself in the grand finals of the Super Junior Carnival Tournament, after going through numerous trials and battles, no one would've believed it, but here we are.
Sir Samuel Stewart: Young Rory Irvine has been waiting for such an opportunity and he's going to make the best of it.
Rain's "It's Raining" begins to play in the arena
Announcer: And his opponent, from Seoul, South Korea, he is one half of the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon!
Brian Kinsley: "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon blazed a path of his own throughout the Super Junior Carnival Tournament, defeating the likes of El Colibri, Steve Odenkirk, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson. Could he win it all?
Anthony Harris: He may, but also keep in mind that he's also CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champion with "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans. How will that all turnout?
Match 9: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: Finals: Rory Irvine vs. "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon
This match was the highlight of the event and the best match overall. Rory had the early advantage, but "The Korean Idol" came fighting back. Rory hit the Celtic Crucifix Drop on Han, only to get a 2 count. Rory look to put the match away but Kelly Lawton, Owen Benoit-Jericho, and Mary Addams provided distractions toward the referee and jumped Rory. Han would get himself involved, chasing off Lawton, Addams, and OBJ, only to be met with a superkick from Chip Day and Miles Orozco, plus a split-second DDT from Devon Gatlin-Tyson. "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans, along with StarrVice rushed to the ring and fought The Olympians. It was complete chaos as everyone began fighting on the outside. Rory went for the Celtic Crucifix Drop, only for Han to reverse it into a falcon arrow, leading to the K-Pop Drop for the victory becoming the inaugural CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament winner.
4 out of 5 stars.
After the match, Han Sang-Hoon extended his hand to Rory for a handshake. Rory accepted the handshake as both competitors celebrated together. Although Han won the tournament, the crowd cheered loudly for Rory, chanting his name.
We get a four-minute hype package featuring Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring.

Crowd: ONE FALL!!!
Announcer: And it is for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang.
Brian Kinsley: IT'S YANG TIME!!!
Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Brother Julius, from Columbus, Ohio, "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones.
Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" plays in the arena.
Announcer: His tag team partner, accompanied to the ring by Monroe Storm, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he is Logan Lemming.
The Roots' "Do You Want More" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, representing The Jordan family, from Miami, Florida, he is the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion, Shelton Jordan.
Match 10: CPWA World Heavyweight Championship: Shelton Jordan (c) vs. Keith Yang vs. "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones vs. Logan Lemming
There was lots of action going on in this fatal four-way. Everyone seemed evenly matched at first, but Logan Lemming took control of the match, suplexing anyone that got in his way. Not to be outdone, Shelton Jordan performed several Exploder Suplexes on each of his opponents. Although Keith Yang got in some offense, he would be taken out by Ivan Markov. This allowed Logan Lemming and LeJuan to double-team Shelton Jordan. It looked like the double team was working, but both competitors weren't going to allow the other to get the pin. This led to Logan and LeJuan fighting each other. Logan was about to hit LeJuan with Logan's Run, but the Soldiers of Misfortune (General Wade and Guerrilla God) prevented that from happening, saving LeJuan from any harm. The Soldiers of Misfortune double power-bombed Logan and then Shelton, leading to LeJuan to hit a Game Winner on both Logan and Shelton to get the win and regain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship.
4 out of 5 stars.
LeJuan Jones is presented with the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as the pyro goes off and the crowd jeers and boos. LeJuan Jones and Brother Julius celebrate as Deception fades to black.

2023.06.11 00:05 sophie9709 Sekiro critiques blind obedience and advocates for intelligent disobedience

“Its fundamental causes are to be found in the ingrained conventions of Japanese culture: our reflexive obedience; our reluctance to question authority; our devotion to ‘sticking with the program’; our groupism; and our insularity.”
- Kiyoshi Kurokawa (at the time, Tokyo University professor emeritus), on the causes of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
Welp, I was wrong. Turns out, you can indeed write a long-form post about intelligent disobedience in a subreddit about video games. By the way, I'm not Japanese, but I will be writing about my take on Japanese culture. If you are Japanese, feel free to correct me regarding anything that I have written.
Spoilers the size of GENERAL GYOUBU ONIWA's ego ahead because I will be talking about the endings a lot. You have been warned!

Japan's issues with 'reflexive obedience'

Do you guys remember the Fukushima nuclear disaster? It did happen 12 years ago so it is indeed possible that some of you guys are not even aware it even happened. I did. I remember the talks of nuclear water spewing into the ocean, and how it might affect the Pacific Ocean. I remember seeing on TV the whole area evacuate, and how there are refugees even now from the disaster. I remember being aghast in horror when I learnt that the disaster was partially caused by bad building design, including how backup diesel generators were placed at sea level, vulnerable to any tsunamis. It, however, took me many many more years to learn that the disaster was not wholly natural. Rather, not only did it have a major human element, it was almost completely preventable. Yet, because of Japan's cultural quirks, it wasn't. As Kurokawa pointed out in the inquiry report, the disaster was "made in Japan."
So, what exactly is it about Japan's culture, especially in the workplace, that made Fukushima nuclear disaster pretty much inevitable? As Kurokawa had succinctly summarised, Japanese workplaces are notoriously hierarchical. Subordinates are expected to show respect to their higher-ups. This includes not disagreeing with them to their face and of course doing what you are told. Higher-up's decisions are not always questioned as much as they should be...such as the decision to build a nuclear power plant on a known fault line. Heck, the area even had stones dating from hundreds of years ago warning people not to build below that line because of the dangers of tsunamis, and the power plant was built below that.
An extreme example turned out to have happened during the Fukushima disaster itself because the Prime Minister at the time, Naoto Kan, had a notoriously strong personality. He wanted to help make the most minutiae of decisions, and would even yell at experts that disagreed with him. Kan at the time got away with it because he was at the top of the hierarchy, and people were afraid to question him. As a result, the disaster response was not as good as it could have been.
But there is a little bit more to Japanese hierarchy than the whole "top-down" approach you might be used to. Japanese culture also emphasises consensus (the "sticking with the program’" "groupism"). A fantastic example would be Nemawashi (根回し). In summary, this practice has people make extensive consultations with everyone affected within the company regarding a proposed change or project. Before the project or change can go ahead, everyone needs to agree to it. 99% Invisible did a fantastic side piece on it in their episode on Hanko stamps. Of course, if there is momentum within the company to support a change, you don't want to be the one to disagree with it and potentially stop the project in its tracks. That would make you pretty unpopular. So sometimes, people would be pressured into agreeing to something, even if they privately disagree with it.
Did the Fukushima nuclear disaster influence the themes of Sekiro? I don't know. The disaster happened in March 2011. The inquiry led by Kurokawa released its report in 2012. The development of Sekiro was said to have started in 2015. No doubt Miyazaki was deeply aware of the disaster being a Japanese person himself, and it could have influenced him to write about the follies of leaders in his other video games, such as Dark Souls III and Elden Ring. I'll leave this thread to someone who has more knowledge on the matter.
By the way, 'reflexive obedience' has caused other issues in Japan apart from the Fukushima disaster. For example, it is cited as one of the causes of the Toshiba accounting scandal, in which it was found that its PC division was overstating profits by at least $ 1 billion.
With that said, I don't think this 'reflexive obedience' pattern of behaviour is just a Japanese thing. Sure, it may be more prevalent in Japan, but it has popped up in Western situations, practically in contexts of widespread company fraud. A much more macho, toxic, and greedy version existed in the final years of Enron, and no doubt helped the directors create the fraud as big as it was. I recommend Alex Gibney's documentary Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room regarding the matter.
(By the way, I'm not even going to begin speculating how the whole 'reflexive obedience' came about because I don't want to suddenly have a Bachelor of Japanese Culture or something like that. From what I can tell, it has roots in Confucianism and the whole 'obey your elders' thing that is prevalent in East Asian cultures, but I don't know).

Reflexive obedience in the game

I hope by now that I have laid down the groundwork well enough that you would be reminded of one very specific thing in the game: The Iron Code.
One! The parent is absolute. Their will must be obeyed
Two! The master is absolute. You give your life to keep him safe. You bring him back at any cost.
Three! Fear is absolute. There is no shame in losing one battle. But you must take revenge by any means necessary!
I have heard this many times from Owl, because quite frankly it took me a long time to git gud. Back to the Code. According to it, as Owl is his father and therefore his superior, Sekiro should obey everything Owl says... up to and including killing friends and abandoning Kuro. And we know how that goes! Miyazaki was certainly not subtle in critiquing blind obedience in that regard!
But the critique goes further than that. Miyazaki is saying in the game that we should question all of our superiors, even the ones that are benevolent and well-meaning because even they might not know everything and you might come up with an even better solution to issues at hand. For example, if we had blindly followed Kuro's orders instead, we end up...not actually solving the problem. Sekiro ends up being a former shell of himself. In nine months' time, another divine heir will be born. In a few years' time, everyone will start fighting over their blood again. Another shinobi will come to the temple and look for the prosthetic. Kuro's sacrifice will be for naught. So, by even disobeying Owl, you accidentally land yourself in another bad ending. Sure, the ending in which Kuro sacrifices himself is not the worst ending ever, but it's still depressing.
So, how do you get to the good endings? How do you actually go about fulfilling Kuro's wishes of stopping the bloodshed and corruption of humanity caused by the presence of the divine blood? By practising intelligent disobedience.

What is intelligent disobedience?

Intelligent disobedience is when an order is given but deliberately ignored because following that order would lead to unforeseen negative consequences the orderer might not have predicted. The most common example of intelligent disobedience is the training of service animals. For example, a seeing-eye dog would immediately stop in front of the stairs. If the blind person the dog is assisting gives the command to go forward, the animal would not budge. The dog would only move if given a specific command that indicates the blind person is aware of the stairs and that it is safe to move. If the dog had blindly (ba dum tsh) followed the command to move forward, then the blind person would not be aware of the stairs. They would then tumble down, and hurt themselves badly. By disobeying the command to move forward, the dog is preventing a negative outcome. Note how intelligent disobedience is different from plain old disobedience.
  1. Intelligent disobedience is done in good faith e.g. to prevent a negative consequence, or to protect people, or to help achieve a better outcome; and
  2. The being disobeying the order has knowledge the orderer does not.
Ira Chaleff has advocated for intelligent disobedience to be used in human-to-human interactions as well, particularly in contexts where negative outcomes can be disastrous. He does note that respect is still needed and that the best way to go about it is to collaborate with the authority figure. Do question questionable orders, give your reasonings as to why you think the orders are unsuitable to attain the suitable outcome and work with your authority figure to find better solutions.
In the good endings, Sekiro...doesn't quite follow Chaleff's version of intelligent disobedience. He seems to more closely follow the guide dog's version of it by not just obeying Kuro's commands. Sure, he goes around collecting the ingredients for severing immortality on Kuro's command, but as soon as he figures out what it truly entailed and what it meant for Kuro, he can start doing his own thing. He can do research independently of Kuro and even decide to keep it a secret from his master.
I can see why he won't want to talk about it with Kuro however. He might not want Kuro to know that he is going against his master's wishes or is afraid Kuro will just command him to stop. After all, he is very socially awkward. He might not even know how to broach the topic.
(I do like the Purification route because it is when Sekiro learns to trust someone else that is not Kuro. If you complete the requirements, Emma becomes one of Sekiro's confidants and conspirators. He even becomes fond of her at the end.)
The Purification and Dragon Homecoming endings follow intelligent disobedience because:
  1. Sekiro does it out of love for Kuro and respect for Kuro's wishes. In the Purification route, he is giving Kuro a mortal life, unburdened by his divine blood, and a chance to be able to open a tea shop. In the Dragon Homecoming route, he is going to return the Divine Heritage back to its rightful place, which in turn will permanently stop it from corrupting the people and land (hopefully). Kuro wants the outcomes from the two endings, sure, but this is a FromSoft game. Completely happy endings are illegal. Sekiro can only fulfil one wish but not the other.
  2. Both endings require Sekiro to not only just get information from Kuro, but to listen to everyone around him. For example, Sekiro and Emma collaborate to meet the requirements for Purification, while he has to interact with the Divine Child a lot to get any chance of being able to pull of the Divine Homecoming ending. By the end, he comes to know of two other options that Kuro does not know about.

In conclusion: Sekiro is a critique of 'reflexive obedience' prevalent in Japan and a subtle advocate for intelligent disobedience

And if you want to achieve the best endings in life? Be smart, be kind, and listen to everyone around you. If you know something bad is going to happen, speak up and don't be afraid to collaborate with your authority figures. If you are in a position of authority, be aware of your follies. Listen to your underlings; they might know something that you don't.

2023.06.10 23:58 The_Purple_Platypus The neighbourhoods of Spence + Daniel McIntyre have a 48% higher average assessed property value per m^2 than Windsor Park + Southdale - and that includes the commercial center on Fermor Ave.

Intro:
Here is some data comparing the assessed property values per m^2 in the West End (specifically the census tracts of Spence and Daniel McIntyre) and in South-East Winnipeg, (specifically the census tracts of Windsor Park and Southdale). All things else being equal (income, crime, etc.), dense walkable neighbourhoods almost always generate more tax revenue per m^2 than car centric neighbourhoods. In this case, even though the median income is significantly lower in the Spence + Daniel McIntyre, these two neighbourhoods have a higher average assessed property value per m^2 (and thus generate more property tax revenue per m^2) than Windsor Park + Southdale. This is important because the City of Winnipeg is almost completely out of money and needs to be incentivizing the creation of new dense, walkable neighbourhoods instead of car centric sprawl.

Boundaries for Spence + Daniel McIntyre:
https://imgur.com/a/zGrj7er
Boundaries for Windsor Park + Southdale:
https://imgur.com/a/SacrJ9k

Summary of Data:
Census Tracts Total Assessed Property Value Total Area Assessed Property Value per km2 Assessed Property Value per m2
Spence + Daniel McIntyre $935,067,408 1.8 km2 $519,481,893 $519,48
Windsor Park + Southdale $2,243,510,486 6.4 km2 $350,548,513 $350.55
Data Source: Assessment_Parcels Edited.xlsx

This post is a follow up on this post from about a month ago:
https://www.reddit.com/Winnipeg/comments/13718vi/follow_up_on_my_mcmillan_vs_bridgwater_forest/
The data used in this post was already presented in my last post, but I wanted to make a follow up post with some better data presentation and more in-depth data about each of the neighbourhoods.

What are we looking at and why these four neighbourhoods?
-These four neighbourhoods were picked because of their different urban designs. Spence + Daniel McIntyre are walkable, mixed-use suburbs while Windsor Park + Southdale are car centric suburbs. The difference in transportation mode choice can be seen in the 2016 census statistics, which I've included some data from below.
-The population for Spence + Daniel McIntyre is roughly equal to the population for Windsor Park + Southdale. These populations are large enough to support several grocery stores and a variety of other businesses.
-This post is looking at the assessed property value per unit-area (in this case per m^2, but per acre and per km^2 also work). This closely corresponds to how much property tax per m^2 is generated by these neighbourhoods. Property tax per m^2 is important because the cost to service a neighbourhood increases mostly with-respect-to land area and not population, due to municipal services such as water mains, sewer lines, and roads becoming more expensive the more spread out a neighbourhood is. In short, a higher assessed property value per m^2 is better for municipal finances.

Here is an explanation of why taxable property value per unit-area is important:

2016 Census Data
Census Tract Population Area Population Density Median Income % of Car Commuters Average Assessed Property Value per m2
Spence 4,415 0.5 km2 8830 people / km2 $19,886 / year 41.2% $581.74
Daniel McIntyre 10,075 1.3 km2 7750 people / km2 $25,069 / year 59.8% $495.53
Windsor Park 10,050 3.4 km2 2956 people / km2 $39,498 80.4% $361.08
Southdale 6,450 3.0 km2 2150 people / km2 $43,005 83.2% $338.61
Census Data: https://legacy.winnipeg.ca/census/2016/

Key Findings:
-A network of gridded streets helps keeps a neighbourhood compact and mixed-use. Although a walkable neighbourhood does not require a grid, grid patterns are good for walkability and land use because they create short block sizes for people walking (allowing more direct and varied walking routes) as well as creating rectangular lots, which are easy to repurpose from detached houses to multi-family homes or commercial buildings.
-Having businesses within a neighbourhood makes it easier for people to walk or bike for errands/outings rather than having to drive. This significantly decreases the need for large parking lots in front of businesses, which generate very little tax revenue while taking up lots of space.
-Allowing a mix of housing types (such as duplexes, triplexes, small apartment buildings, and low-rise mixed-use buildings) gives people more housing choices and also creates more population density, which helps walkable neighbourhoods support a greater variety of local businesses.

Limitations of the Data:
-Service cost per m^2 is not an exact measure of the cost for the City of Winnipeg to service a neighbourhood. There are variables that scale more with population than with area, such as Police services and Fire & Paramedics services. However, it is very difficult to calculate the exact cost for the City of Winnipeg to service each neighbourhood. So using the approximation of service cost per m^2 is the best I have for right now.
-The boundaries for the neighbourhoods of Spence and Daniel McIntyre are somewhat arbitrary, however they are the same boundaries used in the 2016 census. This made it easier to compare census data from each neighbourhood.

As a side note, I've now finished adding up all assessed parcels of land in Winnipeg, a total of about 240,572 properties! You can see the data in the One-Drive linked posted above. I hope to make more posts looking into the data soon.

2023.06.10 23:50 Glasttoooparty Campervan advice

Its our first time in a campervan this year and was wondering if anyone could give us any advice. We have a few questions, plus any extra advice welcome!

  1. Arriving and space - We are planning to arrive late Tuesday night (East campervan site), and wondering how far from gate C we are likely to be situated. Do you get any choice about where you camp or is it like the general car park where they guide you into a parking spot.
  2. Is there a best time to arrive to be close to Gate C for entry to the main arena
  3. What are the toilet facilities like? And are there any showers? The glasto map doesn't include the water and toilet signs for the campervan site so wondering how many there are etc.
  4. Re-entry & searching - what are the waiting times like for re-entry into the Arena and how much do they search you each time...
Thanks for your help in advance!

2023.06.10 23:48 Competitive_Cook_81 GF saying she is pregnant

Hi,
Note: throwaway account. So, I(M36) just met this woman(F42) thru a dating app and we liked each other enough to be in a relationship and be together. We normally used condoms but last time we had sex she was on her periods (was bleeding and all) and she let me raw dog her.The funny thing is... I did not ejaculate inside her.. too.. This was one month ago.Today, she texted me a picture of a pregnancy test.. and voila she is pregnant..
But some more context... We live in different states (West coast vs east coast) and its been a month since we have met each other and i realized that she has some personaility issue where she will manipulate you to get her way.. Like.. when she is feeling good.. she will treat you like a king but then.. when we have an argument she will say things like .. "your dick is so small that i think about my ex and all".. like she is intentionally trying to hurt you..So, I decided to end things with her... and then.. she called .. cried.. and apologized to me and all those things..
I dont even think she is pregnant.. because..
  1. she herself confessed that age is not on her side to have a child
  2. She was on her periods
  3. I did not came inside in her.. in fact.. i didnt came at all.. (side effects of jerking off in past.. the death grip).
  4. My testosterone levels are low (i am also not young) but i also go thru TRT which also contributes to infertility in men.
Whats a good way to be sensitive but also.. just see thru BS.. 1. We just had a long talk... and she doesnt know that I did not came inside her (i faked).. and I did told her that I dont want to have a kid rihgt now becasue we are still figuring things out about ourselves.. and she was like i dont have to do anything with the kid.. even though she doesnt know what she is going to do.... I feel like everything is probabilistic in nature and probability of having a kid is super low.. How do i go navigate thru this.

2023.06.10 23:35 JaydenSheep Looking for roommate 8/1-9/1 East Cambridge/Somerville or Newton/Waltham

Hello, I'm looking for 1-2 roommates for an August-September 1st 2-3bed 1-2bath rental in East Cambridge/Somerville (within 20ish minutes walk of MIT) or alternatively in Newton/Waltham. Hoping to get a 2-3 bed in the $1000-1600 per person range. My preferences: on site laundry, parking, and sunlight.
Looking for roommates who are friendly but don't mind having some quiet time/doing their own thing. LGBTQ+ friendly of course. No smoking or pets (I'm allergic to cats/dogs unfortunately)
About me: I'm 24m engineer, who sometimes works in the Cambridge area and other times works east of Boston (hence the range of areas). Laidback and generally pretty clean. I like to cook, read, 3d print things, and grow plants.
Let me know if you're interested or have a spot you're trying to fill! Thanks!
