4/5 ⭐ Excellent card for the game right now. It cost cheaper than a swift minion for 6 damage. It'll always deal damage even if blockers oppose you. This card is ok to play it early if that's all you have on turn 3. It's really good to play as your finishing move as it'll be damage your opponent didn't calculate for. Play this card and most likely it's gonna be the card you win with. There's always mana you can spare for Gemstone of Wrath in the late game. If you drew all your Mana Potion really late, good news, you can squeeze in Gemstone of Wrath into your plays.
There are so few cards that deal damage to a player directly. The others do so few damage. 6 damage from gemstone is a good amount, it doesn't feel like a do-nothing card not affecting your game board. 6 damage is bigger than playing a Jinn when trying to end the game.
The art is amazing. The gemstone really looks like a powerful and important artifact in the Mythrel world as it should look. In the lore, this thing is the focus of a big story arc. The rock pieces sticking into the red gem look like black obsidian here. They don't look like just dirty rocks like gemstone of life had. They really work because it's not all over the place. I love the jagged end of the gemstone really portrays the dangerous powers it holds.
As a player you can skip this card. It's not a big deal. There are other to focus on hunting down. If you get this card for cheap though or in a pack yourself then yes use it in every deck. As a collector you cannot miss out on this card for your gemstone set to be complete!

Assuming nothing changes in the coming weeks, I'll be going on my 5th season as the coach of my current team. It's made up of home school students and some charter school students as well. Recently I was approached by a former coach who is highly respected in my local running community about taking the HC position for one of the local private schools and then contacted by the AD of a large public school interested in hiring me as their HC for XC and Track. I have a scheduled meeting with the AD of the private school and working on getting a meeting scheduled with the public school.
I'm definitely interested in both positions but have become very attached to the runners on my current team. Here are the pros and cons of coaching each team as I currently see it.

A woman's tire was worn out, she needed a new one. She makes $14.31 an hour but inflation eats a lot of it. ProPublica uses a tire in this story to examine inflationary market forces.
Tires are affected by COVID border shutdowns which prevented workers from reaching rubber plantations resulting in production dropping, extreme weather which shut down processing operations and closed critical roads, fungal leaf disease affecting rubber trees, and a surge in latex glove demand. Russia produces an essential ingredient for tires called carbon black, the second largest exporter, was hit by sanctions for the Ukraine invasion; the price doubled for the material. Rubber futures in 2021 spiked nearly 50% from 2020. Other components, including synthetic rubber, steel wire, and textile cord, all increased in price as well. Roughly half of a tire is made from petroleum, which saw soaring prices in 2022. Many components of tires, and often tires themselves, must be shipped in, and processing of those shipments has fallen behind and increased in price as well
The average prices of tires has risen 21.4% over the past two years, 70% higher than core inflation. A tire which once cost $100 is now $120, which doesn't factor in labor, and often more than one tire is needed. Companies have made record profits during this time.
The woman needed a loan to get the tires, which ProPublica says is common. People are seen selling possessions to pay for tires. Her total bill for two tires installed without warranty was $346.50, more than $40 she paid for two tires four months earlier.
The author of this piece goes on to identify other factors currently squeezing US household finances.
If you want to get to and from work, or do much else in life which requires leaving your home, it often requires the use of tires.

Curious Details #8: The Aqua-Zip
The Aqua-Zip feels like a dream -- as in it exists, I've used it, and every now and then I remember my sims own two of them for "His and Hers"-styled public disturbances. Yet still the Aqua Zip fades from memory the moment I cease to consider the fact we have swimmable areas in post-Sulani worlds where other features (regardless of their frequency of use) have more "tangible" triggers -- The fish trap, for instance, has the Fishing skill, which links back to my sims' aquariums and the need for plasma packs (it can also be a viable source of Sulani's 'Buried Treasure' collectibles). The Outrigger Canoe is similarly used for fishing, but is also one of the few non-coffin means of repose for a vampire with the 'Sleep Of The Undead' weakness. It's a shame, really, because outside of the Fun motive and music-based moodlets (for both preferences and general proximity thereto), the Aqua-Zip is almost hot tub levels of "frivolous luxury item a sim owns because what else are they going to do with their ludicrous amounts of simoleons?".
That said, the reason I compare it to the hot tub, specifically, is due to the fact that under the hood there's actually a little bevy of features that both sound good on paper and look cool in practice, even though they ultimately fail to be a consistent draw.
The adventure starts with the iLand Beach Shax, a high-tech piece of equipment camouflaged with wooden planks on three sides. Afterwards, sims can select from Fishing skill books, fish traps, lounge chairs and float loungers, beach towels, island-exclusive fruits and roots, and two aquatic vehicles: the Outrigger Canoe, and the Aqua-Zip.
A technological marvel in the world of beach supply vending, with eye-catching colours and kid-friendly imagery.
Whilst the Outrigger Canoe is pretty simple; just "buy and try", the Aqua-Zip is somewhat more involved. Firstly, there are two versions available:
  • One in a simplistic blue, with white trim ($2,100)
For the everyman who just wants to go from A to Sea.
  • One with a "Shark in water" motif ($2,500)
For the those who like to live dangerously.
Though these colours can be switched in Build/Buy, and both versions are of the same item, there's a reason the latter costs a bit more -- Whilst in a sim's inventory, the option for "Add-Ons" can be selected, allowing for the vehicle's alteration. Unlike most things in TS4, these alterations aren't done using the Handiness skill, but rather are paid for, similar to the 'Sheeps-In-A-Pod Sleeping Pod' from Get Famous and the rocket ships from the basegame. Alongside other features that act as "upgrades", there is an option to "Change Paint Pattern...", which will change the current swatch to one of 14 options for a fee.
  • The 7 basic colours with white trim cost $200 each.
    • Pink
    • Yellow
    • Blue
    • Red
    • Black
    • Green
    • White
Aqua Rangers, assemble!
  • The 7 artistic motifs cost $300 each.
    • Tribal
    • Racing
    • Shark
    • Clownfish
    • Abstract
    • Pastel
    • Polka Dot
For only $100 more, you too can be \"fancy\".
These are not one-time purchases one can do to have them all available for free, and will need to be paid for each change/change back. Now as for why the Shark costs $400 more (and not $300) is beyond my comprehension, as one would be better off paying the $2,100, then adding the shark motif for a total of $2,400.
Moving on to the other micro-trans- I mean "Add-ons"...
Streamers, lights, music, flames, and fireworks... sounds more like the makings of a live concert, than vehicle additions.
On the "cheap" end of the spectrum we have Streamers, Lights, and a Fireworks Pod ($500 each). All 3 must be enabled whilst riding.
  • The Streamers are two semi-transparent ribbons that appear on the handlebars.
$500 bucks, folks... let that sink in.
  • The lights are 3 colours that slowly cycle into one another.

  • The fireworks spew consistently from both sides of the tail (up and to the sides), regardless of whether or not the vehicle is in motion.
What better way to scream, \"WATER HAZARD\", than with fireworks trailing behind you?
The last two add-ons, the Flame Vents and Music Player, each cost $1000.
  • The Flame Vents spit consistent flames from the two tail exhaust ports, and intermittent flames from the three behind the seat. This must be enabled whilst riding, but works even whilst not in motion.
If you listen closely, the intermittent fire sounds like the beat from the first part of \"Eye Of The Tiger\".
  • The music player, unlike the rest of the Add-Ons, can be enabled even whilst not riding.
    • One can change the station and volume, turn it on/off, and even obtain the moodlets for having music nearby, as well as preferred/disliked music.
    • The music player stays on, even after having been put away, and will continue playing once placed in world.
    • One cannot dance to the music or "wind down" by listening to classical.
Leave it out with the music on, and perhaps any ne'er-do-wells will be too busy jamming out to steal it.
It's like a multi-ton portable radio.
After one has gone into bankruptcy and everything's enabled, one can be a "terror of the seas" amidst the quiet residential waterside locales. The water is now an open highway.
Enjoy your one-way trip to a meeting with both the Homeowner's Association, and the Conservationists Society.

Yesterday I sold my Infiniti Q50 Premium. I been experiencing a lot of mechanical and electrical based issues (car was only 80,000 miles). Now I'm looking for a new car.
Primarily looking for reliability, same rapid performance, not expensive annual maintenance cost (maximum 700-1000$) and for car not to have over 30-40k miles. I'm open to SUV's and sedans, not coupes.
I was considering S5, E350, and 540i. But after thoroughly researching, it's seems like maintenance costs are a bit high and I'm skeptical about their reliability.
I'm currently leaning towards ES350 F Sport. I sat in one before but never drove one (a bit hesitant if it will give me the same swift response as Q50). Additionally, I'm looking at IS350 F Sport, but I'm not sure if my 6 foot, 230 pounds body frame would fit into one.
TLX S Type would of been an ideal car for me based on my preferences, but my budget does not allow me to currently buy one.

  • Some 69% (nice!) of you listed Taylor Swift/self-titled at the bottom of your album ranking.
  • ME!, which did not get any votes last time around, managed to get 15 points.
  • Songs discography TTPT actually got less participants than last two times around (2017 - 2020). 2020 TTPT got 365 voters, this time this number was down by 106.
  • All Too Well & 10 Minutes versions combined would be #1 on songs discography list, but by a way lesser margin than the 2020 TTPT (18% vs 46%).

2023.06.10 23:41 Desert-Mushroom Do modern capital markets systematically undervalue large infrastructure projects and is this exacerbated by Baumol's cost disease? What solutions have been proposed if so?

It seems to me that the fundamentally short time horizons of most investors (limited by human lifespan and retirement horizon among other things) results in undervaluing infrastructure and capital investments. Here are a few examples:
1) Homes or apartment buildings may be produced at low quality due to new buyers only planning to live in them for 5-10 years before selling them. This results in higher aggregate housing costs due to increased utilities, maintenance and replacement costs.
2) A large hydroelectric dam or nuclear power plant with a lifespan of 80+ years may not be built despite resulting in a lower overall cost of electricity over a time horizon of several decades or more because it has lower financial returns over the first 20-30 years than a natural gas plant or a wind farm.
Baumol's cost disease as I understand it means that skilled localized labor such as might be involved in large construction projects will often go up faster than inflation, meaning spending today may be more efficient than costs of replacement tomorrow, since inflation of labor costs is high relative to the overall inflation index. If this is the case then we should want to build infrastructure to high quality, to last, and appropriately giving economic credit to a project with long term implications if it is likely to reduce future costs and resource burdens.
Is this question too subject to the value we place on current costs relative to future ones (ie through discount rates) to be objectively answered?
Is the primary solution simply to have government financing for large projects that are deemed worthwhile to society in the long term and how can we determine if these projects are indeed worthwhile with appropriate objective measures of public ROI?
In theory could we expect a shrinking population/economy to financially value large infrastructure projects more due to a potentially negative discount rate?
Tldr: all these are driving at the same general point of does standard financial discounting of capital result in a market failure for long lasting capital infrastructure that results in a less wealthy economy in the long run and how can this be corrected for either when modeling economic returns of a project or creating financial instruments to finance and build long lasting capital.

Hey fellow redditors,
we present our latest Harvest Temple Challenge Mode class-stacking challenge. This time with 10 Warriors (just in time before they get reworked with the next patch) where we also made use of every single spec, including Core Warrior (only the Arms trait line was not used by any player)!
Similar to the Necromancer run, we also did not yet have a source for Alacrity on Warrior, so we just played without it. We still managed just fine and did not have any problems with dps overall thanks to the decent amount of power creep. Warrior in general has many tools to deal with the different mechanics in HT CM, but two of the most notable things were missing Invisibility and also lacking Protection. The latter was noticeable in some phases with high incoming damage.
The strategy with more details and some Trivia information about the wipes per phase for this run (and previous class-stacking runs in HT CM) are listed below.

Strategy
We wanted to bring every specialization for this run, even a core Warrior. The best slot for the latter was the kite role, since it is only slightly inferior to Bladesworn as Heal Quickness Kiter and using core on a dps spot would cost more. Spellbreaker is the only Warrior spec with built-in Boonstrip, so it was a natural choice to use anyways. Initially we went with 2 Spellbreakers for more flexible Boonstrip, but on the evening where we killed it, we had only one available. Berserker got recently buffed and is doing really decent dps now and since we had one playing it, it was a no-brainer to include as well. All of the other slots were filled with everyone's favourite Speedrun-class since EoD launched: Bladesworn. The added mobility and range on Gunsaber made it better than the default SpellbreakeBerserker dps builds and since also so much damage is backed into Dragon Trigger (DT), it loses less dps if you can deal with mechanics during the cooldown of DT. A scary part in this run was the relatively little access to Stability and Protection, which can makes some phases spicy.
In Harvest Temple CM there are multiple important mechanics that have to be dealt with.
Trivia
The wipes per phases for the class-stack runs so far were as follows. Primordius is still the biggest Nemesis, but relatively speaking: Orb 2 and Soo-Won 2 (or specifically the Champions) were the hardest parts for this run.

2023.06.10 23:18 throwawaynewc My NHS pension seems underwhelming- am I doing this right?

Hi all, just went to check my TRS and was a bit disappointed with what I found.
My plan is to quit the NHS in 2026 and start withdrawing my pension 12 years earlier than SPA (incurring 55.4% actuarial reduction). Let's assume SPA is 68.
Inputting my figures into the early retirement calculator, I'm getting my a retirement pension of £2659.56. If I were to retire at SPA, it sets my pension at £4345.68.
Whoa. I'm assuming they mean £4345.68 at current value? Even then, it's still pretty terrible considering what I've put in. Assuming I get 15 years of that, that's just 15x£4345.68=£65185.2 in current terms. I know it gets uplifted by CPI, but I don't think it's relevant to my calculations. It does mean £4345.68 in current terms and NOT when I'm 68 right? That would make zero sense to me.

My employee contribution has always hovered around 10%. This means I've contributed £22067.51 over these years. If I'd kept all of this in a piggy bank till today and decided to invest and leave it, here are the values I've predicted when I'm 68:
