2023.05.28 19:32 softspokenbb Things that I thought was normal but it really wasn't ok...

TW: SA, CSA, Grooming
I am in therapy now, actually trying to do the work so that I can get to a place where I feel that I am ok. You can't break something that's already broken but you can do your best to atleast create something better. As much as I'd like to think I had a happy childhood there are parts that weren't great that I feel kind of overshadows everything. My mom had me really young, and the way that I think about it is that we grew up together. I have a hard time seeing my mother as a mother because if you look at our relationship it seems like she was more of a friend than a mother. I've watched her get into bad relationships, even be abused and still there were times it seemed like I hardly knew her, almost like she was missing from a good portion of my memories from back then.
I know she did the best she could trying to do things on her own, but things happen. I've been left with people who I shouldn't have been left with. I wanna say it started around kindergarten maybe even first grade. I was meant to be walked home from school by her friend's son since our moms were friends and he was a couple years older. Sparing the details but while our mom's were at work I'd have to sit at his house alone with him and he'd have me do things. I never told my mom about it. Fast forward she gets into a relationship and we move in with a man who has kids. 2 boys 1 girl, the older son would also make me do things when our parents went out. There was one day that they came back early and it was caught. The crazy part is that the older son never got in trouble, I never saw him get yelled at or anything... but I was. I remember my mom telling me that I was nasty, and I told her he made me do it. Her response was, "if someone told you to jump off a cliff, would you do it?" And she threatened to tell my grandma. The thing is my grandma was basically my mom, I was always "safe" with her. It wasn't until we started moving around that things happened.
Being a young girl, I always got a lot of attention from older people. I remember there being a really big girl she either could've been fifth grade maybe even 6th that was supposed to babysit while my mom was at work that did those same things the other older boys had. Other things happened but again sparing the details. Fast forward, I'm in 6th grade now and we are learning about computers. One girl taught me how to make an email account to sign up and play games online as well as tell me about a website where kids can chat online with each other. So when I would go home I'd work on projects on my grandma's computer in her room. Then I'd play a couple games before going to this chat site.
Yeah there were kids my age but then there were also "kids" who claimed to be 13-15 and as the messages progressed would say they are 27 or so and if you'd want to keep talking. They'd ask to talk off chat and on email instead or some messaging app. They'd send pictures and ask for pictures and I just thought that it was normal back then. It got to a point where I liked the attention from these older men and I'd do whatever to keep talking to them. I didn't really get a lot of attention at home at this point. I'd come home, and I would have to clean up basically the entire house.... picture cinderella it was something like that and I just hated my life. I would be ignored by my mom, she'd go to work, come home and she'd just be on her phone. If I tried to talk to her it was like she didn't here me. So talking to men online continued without anyone ever noticing. I'd go on to get my own cell phone later on and when the chat site went down I moved on to talking to men on dating sites. I'd set the age to 18 but would be honest and tell them my age and some of them stayed and talked. There was also Omegle, that I would talk to people on. And "relationships" would develop... and sometimes your online "boyfriend" would start to be creepy and when you decide to end things it became they are going to hurt themselves if you stop talking to them.
Fast forward again at junior year of high school, end of the year... I discover Craigslist personals and I was still talking to guys on the dating sites. I lost my virginity to a 53 yr old in his truck without protection and I wasn't on the pill yet. No pregnancy came from that... but again I hated my life so much that I started responding to ads on Craigslist about having babies and staying home and being taken care of. I met one guy he was 43 at the time, he wanted a baby, and I wanted away from my home life of just being ignored and expected to clean all day after grown ups. I got into a really bad argument with my mom, and I had decided to run away from home with this guy. I left for like less than 24 hours. He picked me up, he took me to his house we had sex and I just remember crying the entire time because I didn't like it, it was painful. He freaked out the next day and said he needed to take me home before it was reported. He took me home... later that day I made up with my mom and apologized for leaving. However I still kept in touch with this man. I'd lie about where I was going, say I was going to a friend's house to stay over, but I'd be at his house, and he wanted to marry me. He wanted me to move in with him, to have his kids. It never happened, my mom didn't find out anything until after I had turned 18 and she was absolutely livid.
I still kept in touch with this man, even went to stay with him for like a week when I was 19 and he tried to force himself on me and I called a friend whi came to pick me up and all of my things and took me back home after he put me out for refusing him.
I went on to get into even more bad relationships, one night stands with older men... one of them being a very abusive relationship that lasted almost 2 years... now in my late 20s and starting to open up about everything in therapy, none of this was ok. It isn't normal and no one, no child or anyone at all should ever feel like this is ok. I know that I am partially to blame for the things that happened. However I still tell people it's important to sit down and talk with their kids about these things, it can be avoided, they should no right from wrong, and not accept the attention they get from a predator because they feel like they are alone... I'm still lucky to be here. Even with me being in my late 20s I am still struggling with leaving the older men alone... you fall prey to these abusive and narcissistic people when you haven't healed old wounds.

2023.05.28 19:14 Relevant-Mine-2058 AITB for cutting contact with a friend cos I find them draining

Context:im part of a group of 4 we'll call the other 3, B, C, and D. We're all 17/18 f in 6th form college. I fell out with D. Friend B suffers from extreme anxiety and over thinks everything and friend C cannot stand conflict.
One night me, B and C were having a sleepover without D, this is because B's parents do not allow D to stay over as we were having a couple of drinks and she's a terrible drunk she threatened to leave to meet a stranger, she makes bad decisions and becomes generally aggressive and not nice to be around, she "ruins" sleepovers and stuff with her attitude etc and B and C agreed with this) we didn't intentionally not invite her it was spontaneous that friend C stay over as it was originally me and B, it was out of convenience tbh.
Every time any of us hung out without D in any combination she became bitter and Jealous and would make passive aggressive comments for no reason, but only with friend B. D only ever says things to friend B even if we're at friend C's house and she's chosen not to invite friend D. If it's a sleepover she will ignore friend B and only speak to friend C.
One night she made lots of comments over text and said some things that made B over think and cry because she was so stressed that she'd done something wrong even tho me and friend C tried re assuring her she had not. I was a little bit intoxicated and quite frankly sick of friend D's shit cos she does this all the time and manages to ruin things etc (she was at her own thing this night too so couldn't have come anyway) so I called her and basically said why do you do this your acting toxic etc. and that she needs to work on communication and thinking about her actions.
I admit that I said some things in the wrong way and apologised for that but I refuse to associate with her anymore friend C and B have decided to remain in contact but I have fit all contact with her as I find her incredibly draining.
I remain civil if I see her around as we go to the same college etc and don't have a problem with B and C remaining in contact but I refuse to entertain her behaviour because it's ridiculous. I have forgiven multiple times in the past etc but I refuse to do it anymore. I did say some things in the wrong tone etc and could have worded what I meant in a better way but have apologised and explained properly afterwords when sober.
Her argument is that she wants an explanation any time we did anything without her etc but has not given a reason as to why she focuses her anger on friend B even if it's not necessarily her decision.
Am I the buttface in this situation as I know doubting my decision to cut contact with her??

2023.05.28 18:31 time_to_apricate Jupiter in Scorpio

Jupiter in Scorpio
In my chart, Jupiter is in Scorpio (r) in the 6th house. I’ve had two astrologers tell me that this is great and that I may be “witchy” and fortunate, but I’ve had another astrologer tell me that it’s afflicted and is more of a problem than a blessing. Can anyone please confirm which is true and why it’s true? Thank you so much!

2023.05.28 18:16 silloki My theory for the 6th Subclass. Empathy. Understanding. Connection.

Darkness has been established as the manifestation of the non-physical, the psychological, the mind. Stasis is about will and control of yourself and others. Strand is about freedom and changing to the circumstances.
The 6th element, I believe, will be about understanding by connecting with eachother. I think this will manifest as primarily defensive abilities and empowering others. Through your Empathy, together you can become strong.
A concept like this is being represented in game as: - The Coalition of Light; Humanity, Awoken, Imperial Cabal and House of Light Eliknsi working together. - The two cities; The last city and Neomuna connecting for the first time and becoming allies. - The Cloud Ark; people connecting together to help eachother. - Season of Defiance; Queen Mara Sov sharing her power with the Guardians. - Season of the Deep; Deputy Commander Sloan connecting with Ahsa to understand her. - Ghosts of the Deep; Xivu Arath's memory's of grief, loss and her reasoning and logic. Helping us to understand her.

2023.05.28 17:23 darkerenergy Trip Report: 18 days + Golden Week (25/04 - 13/05)

Tokyo - Yokohama - Nagoya - Kyoto - Osaka - Tokyo

Hi all, going to go through our trip covering golden week and time around it (: It was myself (F21) and my partner (M24) and the reasoning behind the timing was mainly due to bank holidays in the UK being unfortunately placed perfectly in line with golden week this year! Despite this, I feel we actually got pretty lucky with it all. I'll put an emoji to note which days were for golden week but for the tl;dr we weren't affected that much.
Other important contexts, both interested in Japan for a few different reasons. Anime isn't a small one but I'm also a huge fan of the Yakuza games, he's into the JDM car scene, and we just enjoy travelling in general. We didn't do many things like Universal, Disneysea etc. but hopefully there's some things in here that people will enjoy hearing about! I'll go through some tips/recommendations for the casual readers first before going into the trip in depth - please let me know if there's anything else you want to know about!

Tips + Recommendations

Yamato Takkyubin Luggage Forwarding If like us you are going to be staying in quite a few different places, this service is so so so good I cannot overstate it. We had two big suitcases and one smaller one, we sent just the big ones for two of the trips and then for the final trip from Osaka to Tokyo we sent all 3 and just used our backpacks to bring essentials for the night.Pretty much all hotels will allow you to use the service, some may request you pay them with cash for the actual service but for all but one of ours we could use card. We sent Yokohama -> Kyoto, then Kyoto -> Osaka, then finally Osaka -> Tokyo. There are options for same day delivery I believe however we did both the next day and for a few days later. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll answer if I can!
Trip Planning I've been fortunate to be able to travel a lot so wasn't nervous about the actual travel, however Japan is such a far away country that I didn't want to go and get there then not know what to do and waste my time. In the past holidays with family were more about relaxing on a beach, or with my partner our city breaks are short as they are other European countries and so easier to return to if we wanted. I wanted to take a different approach to this trip so I made a big Google Sheet and Google Map with all the places I wanted to visit/see. It was never meant to be a strict itinerary as some people I showed seemed to assume 😅 But it really helped me to visually see where things I wanted to go to were, and then make a rough plan in case I did get stuck at some point.Anyway it was a really good idea in hindsight and I'm very glad we did it for this trip as our first time going! Here's a picture of the map looks like, we didn't necessarily do everything but we did most things - https://i.imgur.com/2xLyy7Y.png. I used mymaps.google.com, to be honest there's definitely betteeasier to use tools out there but I got this to work for me so I stuck with it.
Walking People aren't kidding about the amount of walking, although I think our top amount was still under 30k so don't worry too much. That said, if you don't walk a lot anyway then your feet are going to hurt. My partner was fine, I was awful. I thought my shoes would be fine and apparently they weren't so if you can pack walking boots please do. The other thing is I think the way you walk affects it too, my partner and I both had multiple pairs of shoes with us but where his converse boots were fine, the soles of my feet were awful in the same types of shoes 😭
Driving I am not a driver but my partner is. He has a full manual UK driving license and insurance, and so for Japan all he needed was to get the International Driver's Permit a little before we went. We rented a car for three different occasions, two times from the same place then the final was for a JDM rental. All was fine, the JDM place was confused for a moment as my partner has a Polish passport + UK license but we translated Poland for him and after that there were no issues! You'll need to check what you need depending on where you're from, it's easier for us due to the same driving side although when we rented for Daikoku and the Nagoya drive they did give us an automatic so just be aware of that if you want to request/drive manual. The rental places we used were Orix rent-a-car for the Daikoku and Yokohama -> Nagoya trip and we had a Mazda 2. For the JDM rental we used Omoshiro.

Trip Report

Tokyo

25/04 - Airport, Shinjuku hotel, Shinjuku We followed a similar first day that I'm sure many of these reports will begin with - arrived at the airport, we had filled out the VJW forms and had both QR codes ready to go. Immigration had about an hour wait so longer than normal but we were also near the back of our plane and there was at least another full plane in front of us. Actually going through immigration was a complete breeze. Once through and picked up our luggage, we got a Welcome Suica, then headed to Shinjuku. We reached our hotel about 4 hours early for check-in, wasn't sure what to do for that time but they were happy to take our bags until we could go to the room (something that is consistent with all the hotels we went to thankfully). Jetlag was pretty bad, I was flagging by afternoon but we pushed through it and took the few hours to just walk around and see the sights. We spent some time in Hakone-yama before heading back to the hotel and getting cleaned up/accidentally falling asleep too early.
26/04 - Akihabara, Golden Gai Of course woke too early by not being as proactive as we should've with warding off jetlag but used that to leave early for Akihabara. After getting some breakfast we saw the Yodobashi Camera and went in there for about an hour just looking at all the floors 😅 It was raining a ton but it surprised us with how warm it still was and quickly realised why people prefer umbrella with no raincoat!! Spent pretty much the whole day in Akihabara, went round a ton of shops and also went into our first of many many arcades we'd go to. We went back to the hotel to return the items we'd bought then walked to Golden Gai as our hotel was about a 15-20 minute walk ^^ Had some delicious ramen, unfortunately didn't drink as my partner was finishing antibiotics for the first few days but it was still great to be there. Slept a lot later which was good.
27/04 - Kabukicho, Shinjuku National Garden This was more a day for me to fufill my Yakuza game sightseeing. Being so close to Kabukicho I was so excited to visit a city and be able to make my way round without a map loool. It was just the end of the blue festival so the iconic arch was still blue although I did get to see it red at the end of the trip so I wasn't too bothered about that. We went around Kabukicho, the square, again spent tons of time in the arcades and discovered how much we enjoyed the MaiMaiDX machines. Ended up getting one of the passports that save your progress and give you an extra play so if you like arcades then I recommend them!! After this and some lunch, we were going to do a walk to the national garden then realised I went the wrong way so we took the train. As a side note here, the Suica and train system is so useful. Very similar to using a card for the underground except it's actually clean. Walked around the national garden, it was very sunny and warm. Didn't know it had it before going but there's a starbucks in the middle of the garden and we managed to join the queue about 10 minutes before they stopped taking new orders. Had a nice time watching the sun set in that garden before heading back to the hotel.
28/04 - Teamlabs Planets Wasn't something I was going to initially go to however I checked out tickets the day previously and saw some for this day and decided we could do it as we had a ton of free time. I had chosen 2:30pm for an entrance time however it was such a nice day so we left early and spent time just walking around the docks. It was so so sunny, the area didn't have loads going on however it was still very pretty. We spent time in the parks and walking alongside the water. Teamlabs was pretty cool, I did enjoy the water based sections although dodging both influencer and family photos might detract from your experience. This was also where I realised I'd already become the stereotype tourist and was sunburnt :') I guess I had to learn my lesson physically and I did thankfully stop any further burning after this with diligent sun cream appliance afterwards pretty much every day. After this we went back to Shinjuku and after food we packed up ready to go to Yokohama.

Yokohama

29/04 - Bashamichi, Daikoku, Cosmo Clock ✨Showa Day Left our hotel at 11 and hadn't yet discovered the wonders of luggage forwarding so we brought all our bags with us on the train to Yokohama! Not too bad though, we got to our hotel a little early but they took our bags as we went and had lunch before the room was ready. Went around Bashamichi (another game location lol) before taking the train to central Yokohama. We had pre-booked the rental cars all before we left to ensure availability but there weren't any problems. This was also my partner's birthday which is something the rental staff realised whilst we were sorting out all the documents 😆. For Daikoku, we didn't need to pass through any ETC gates from Yokohama but it was the first time on the Japanese roads. It was a little nerve-wracking at first as there's very slightly different rules to UK roads but in general driving is fine. We reached Daikoku PA around 20 past 6pm, and it was about 2 hours until police moved everyone along. My partner was in dreamland with the cars that we saw, if you're into the JDM scene at all or just a petrolhead then you'll love it but it is a bit of luck with what you'll see. After we left Daikoku, we went back to our hotel. We'd checked in with them previously that we could keep the car with them as the hotel we had chosen had parking available for an additional cost. We left the car at the hotel then went out for drinks and to see the cosmo clock. Didn't ride it but it was very cool seeing it all lit up over Yokohama. We bar hopped a bit, then went back.
30/04 - Recovery... Not much to say about this day, my partner was fairly hungover so we returned the car to the rental place and then spent the day just chilling at our ryokan hotel and around Yokohama. No drinks this time round as we had a very long trip the next day!!

Nagoya (Road Trip from Yokohama)

01/05 - Expressways, Onshi-Hakone Park, Expressways, Shinshiro, Expressways, Nagoya I'll condense this one a bit otherwise I'll type forever but this was a really fun time. The driving totaled almost 6 hours by the end so it's not for the faint hearted haha. The point was that we'd stop a few times along the way though which is what we did end up doing. We sent our luggage with the forwarding service (to the hotel after Nagoya as we were just staying the one night), then had an early start as we went to the car rental for 8. We chose the same place we rented from for Daikoku and had the same sales rep sorting out any documents so it was a bit quicker although this time we did get a quick explaination on the toll gates. Anyone going on the expressways will need to know how to use them, we were a bit confused the first time but once you've done it a couple times it'll be smooth sailing (and it's such a good system for people with the automatic cards too). We left Yokohama and set our location for Nagoya. We went for about 2 hours before stopping in Odawara for a quick snack and pee break. Pretty overcast day but despite this we still decided to do a stop in a park on the way and went to Onshi-Hakone Park. It was very cool/bit scary going up the winding mountain passes but wow the views are incredible. We spent again probably a couple hours at the park, had some lunch, no view of Fuji but we could see a lot of the other mountains around which are breathtaking in their own rights (: It's right on Lake Ashi so we did get to see the pirate cruise going round. After this break we did another couple hours or so driving before stopping slightly outside of Shinshiro. Something I will say about the expressways is that it is insane how fast people go 😂 We're not about to try anything so it was sticking to the 120 on the signs for us but people just whizz by. Anyway, we stopped at a familymart in this village for a quick break and I know I've said it already but the views are so beautiful. It's green in the UK but it's something else, I kept wondering if it's just viewing through rose tinted glasses/greener on the other side but I don't think that's true at least about those countryside views. It was also one of the reasons we wanted to do the road trip instead of train at least this time round, we could stop in these places and take it in. After our stop there, it was back onto the expressway until we reached Nagoya. It was roughly 6pm when we reached Nagoya, we had intially booked the car for the whole day with return the next morning but they allow early return with Orix so we did that instead before finding our hotel and having some dinner. Not too much time in Nagoya but it was the first time seeing the bullet train which was cool. Nagoya itself has some nice sights, we were thinking about going to Liberty Walk the next day but instead we just decided we'd head to Kyoto once we left the hotel.

Kyoto

02/05 - Shinkansen, Kyoto, Nishiki Market It was a really lovely day and we were taking the shinkansen for the first time. The shinkansen from Nagoya is only 34 minutes but we did end up buying reserved seats as the station was pretty packed. This is probably the main thing we noticed with Golden week, everything else was busy but not insanely so. Nagoya station was a lot busier but otherwise fine. We didn't have JR passes as when I used the online calculator it didn't come out to be worth it for our particular travel so it was full fare for us. The shinkansen itself was good, we would be using it again for Osaka back to Tokyo but due to Nagoya being closer to Kyoto I didn't reeeally think I'd need to book early. It's probably a good idea still lol but it worked out fine for us to book same day despite how busy Nagoya was. Once in Kyoto we took our time walking down to our next hotel. This was another ryokan style so that was nice, we also passed a garden which we noted to go to the next day (Shosei-en Garden). Our luggage had arrived and was waiting for us at the hotel already so we got refreshed then went out for the evening. We went up to Nishiki market then walked back towards our hotel again. Had a sushi train small dinner as we hadn't had any sushi yet and I've also only had a train once before. It might not be the best Kyoto had to offer but wow was it still better than anything I'd had in the UK!! We then spent hours once again in an arcade, if you like games the MaiMaiDX machines really are addictive :')
03/05 - Shosei-en Garden, Higashi Hongan-ji, Tō-ji Temple, Nijō Castle✨Constitution Memorial Day We woke up early, had breakfast at the ryokan, then went straight for the garden. It was a beautiful day once again so plenty of suncream applied. The Shosei-en Garden isn't the biggest but it's so beautiful, they have this pond that looks so still but my partner spotted a turtle and then you start to see more and more. They have some historical buildings around the place, we spent about an hour there before going to the next place. We walked down the road to the next place, this was Higashi Honhan-ji temple. Both locations weren't really that busy to be honest. Seeing this temple was nice but personally I did prefer the gardens. We next went Tō-ji temple. This is one of those locations that are on the 'must-do in Kyoto' but I did like it a lot. The 5 story pagoda was a cool sight. It wasn't so busy although we were going around lunch time so hungry crowds were likely taking a small break (: We spent an unreasonable amount of time just looking at the koi fish in the moat not even in the temple area 🎏 Finally we went to Nijō Castle. This was quite busy although we were one of the latter groups going around as it was nearing the end of the day. Another of the listed must do's but again I would say it's a cool place to see. If you do go, the tour around the main house is interesting and if you decide to climb the walls there's some nice sights of the area around. We finished up this day heading back to the market area and had dinner including a matcha beer. I'm not really a massive matcha person but I was up for trying all the different things, the beer sort of just tasted of normal beer but it looked exactly like a matcha-green coloured guinness.
04/05 - Arishiyama ✨Greenery Day This wasn't really a packed day as we were heading to an airbnb for a couple of nights. We used the luggage forwarding from the ryokan where they were concerned that we wouldn't get our luggage as soon as we wanted due to Golden week. I then let them know we were looking to get it sent for the 6th and they completely relaxed and said that would be perfectly fine 👌 For context if you've not been to Kyoto, the train system is alright but pales compared to Tokyo. Getting to our airbnb wouldn't be too long, about an hour, but as we didn't really have anything planned and only had our small suitcase with us we decided to walk to the next airbnb instead and waste time along the way. This way when we arrived it wouldn't be before check in time and it would keep us out and about. The walk was about 3 hours total although we lengthed it by stopping a few times. There were some celebrations happening due to Greenery day and Children's day being the next day. We stopped to listen to some music, stopped to have a starbucks, then finally we reached out airbnb in Arishiyama. The place was really nice, and it was fun to have a whole place for a few nights instead of a hotel. If you're wanting to, looking at airbnb's is a completely valid option when staying in Japan - you just might get warned before you arrive not to talk or laugh too loudly or the neighbours might complain/call the police 😅
05/05 - Fushimi Inari Shrine ✨Children's Day Initially were going to do both the bamboo/monkey forest and Fushimi Inari but ended up leaving a little later than planned so just committed to only Fushimi Inari. I was expecting fairly large crowds considering the day and the station was..... not great. That said, the station was very small and so although it was crowded we were also out of there fairly quick. This review of Fushimi Inari is going to follow almost everyone's - it was busy at the bottom and as you go up you'll get a lot less people. Even it being Children's day didn't stop us getting moments of just myself and my partner being alone so don't be deterred if the bottom is busy! Beautiful views, we did the full routes going to the top. It was a bit tricky at times but it's not a race, and you'll feel good doing the full thing. We reached the top, were able to partake in the prayers there, then had a great time going back down. There was a little area near the end with a bunch of cats; we turned a corner and saw one and a bunch of people crowding round to take a photo. Maybe only a few steps later you realise there's about 4 more just chilling around the place. It was a cool experience and definitely worth doing at least once if you're there.

Osaka

06/05 - Local train, Dotenbori, Den-Den Town We took a train from our airbnb to Osaka and went via the local train rather than the shinkansen. It was fine, we reached Dotenbori and our hotel was not far from the station. We got there a bit early again but our room was already available and our luggage had arrived too (: After getting refreshed we went out for the afternoon to Den-Den Town. This is Osaka's version of Akihabara, and we spent a lot of time with my partner looking in all the card shops. It was pretty rainy but not really a problem between the Lawson's umbrella and ducking into lots of shops ;) We spent time in an arcade for a while before heading out to Dotenbori market area and the bridges for the evening/night. Yet again another location in the Yakuza games so I had fun pointing out different places like the Mega Don Quijote or the crab restaurant. We had some food and ended up in a drinking place that used a QR code and website for ordering to the table which was dangerously easy to use haha. Had some really tasty sushi there too, I'll try and find the name if anyone is wondering! Took tons of photos there, the rain at night gave the city that classic look reflecting the neon lights everywhere.
07/05 - Kobe day trip We went to Kobe for the day, lots of rain but the main market area is all under cover so that was handy. My partner was looking for a new phone which he found, we also went to one of those places where they grill the food in front of you for dinner. It was great going in a scruffy elevator up to the restaurant and stepping out onto a really beautifully designed restaurant, and it wasn't very busy so we were able to go without reserving beforehand. Kobe itself is cool although we didn't explore too much outside the market areas due to just how hard it was raining, I think it was the heaviest on this day unfortunately.
08/05 - Nara day trip, Todai-ji We went to Nara and although the advice is to go early, we went for more mid-day time. It wasn't crowded at all so that was fortunate. We ended up walking past that famous mochi stall that you see on all the tiktoks of Nara. I wasn't expecting to see the making of the mochi and wasn't going to wait for it either however they started about 2 minutes after we found the stall so we did stay and watch and it was cool to see in person (: We tried the mochi, it's pretty good although for me it was a bit too dry from the powder. Was still tasty!!! Walked through towards the deer park and saw the pagodas around. When we reached the deer park of course we had to get some crackers and feed them. Oh my god they're so pushy!! It was actually so funny to interact with them, one tried to nibble me and we got headbutted a bit when we had the crackers but once you've given them all out then they'll leave you 😆. We sat on a bench for a bit and watched some other poor souls go through the same thing. Saw quite a lot of young fawns too which is cute. We kept walking up to Todai-ji, stopped for an ice cream, then went to the temple to see the huge Buddha statue. It was a good experience to see this temple, but at least for me it wasn't my favourite part of the trip. I know for many others though it's really great to see so don't knock it off your list if you're interested in it! I'm glad I went once but probably won't return. Spent some more time just chilling around Nara and looking at the temples and shrines around the place. We went back to Osaka for around 4pm. Spent the evening in Osaka again, no rain this time! Oh this was about the time I was developing a sore throat, a little bit nerve wracking but fully vaccinated + boosters and have had covid previously so was fairly certain it wasn't that. Even so, my partner was coughing a bit which is the start of the cold we both had for the rest of the trip 😔
09/05 - Osaka Aquarium, Dotenbori I didn't put the aquarium on my plan initially but we had another spare day in Osaka and I do like visiting aquariums + my partner likes penguins a lot and they had a lot there. It was a cool experience, a lot of families as to be expected but it wasn't packed so lots of opportunities to see the animals and fish :) The two whales were very cool, they're so massive. We also got to see their rockhopper penguin conservation area, you could see them sitting on their eggs. I recommend the aquarium to any families planning to be in Osaka, it's pretty easy to get to and the station gives clear directions on where to go to get to the aquarium and the nearby lego park. After the aquarium we went back to Dotenbori and looked around the various book-offs as my partner was looking for screen protectors. If you're interested in any Japanese media I can recommend them too, I found some games in there that were a lot cheaper than you find in the West in much better condition. Our coughs worsened by evening which wasn't great, we weren't doing much more in super crowded areas but it's obviously not good anyway. We were wearing masks everywhere beforehand but it made it more important. We did end up getting some Bron, if you're in Japan and have a cough then I do recommend it but just be aware that it contains codeine. We got some from a place that specifically had a pharmacy section, you bring the box to the cashier and they'll give you the actual bottle from behind the counter. Really really great stuff, much better than anything you can get without a prescription in the UK which was annoying as my cough was subsequently worse for about 5 days once I got back!! It's pretty much gone now though (lasted longer likely due to asthma but it was gone for my partner after a couple days of being back). Overall I really enjoyed Osaka, all the cities we went to were cool but for me Osaka was my favourite :)

Tokyo

10/05 - Shinkansen, Airbnb We left Osaka for Tokyo and took the Shinkansen back. We did splash out a bit and took the green car with seats on the Fuji side. I fell asleep for most of the trip but woke in time to see Fuji for the roughly 6-7 minutes it was viewable for. It was my only time to see Fuji due to the weather being almost clear that day aside from a single cloud going right across the mountain. It didn't block the peak though so I don't feel too robbed 😆. If/when we visit Japan again I would like to see it again closer but it was still a great sight. Once we reached Shinagawa station, we switched to the local train to head to our airbnb in Shinjuku once again (although closer to Shibuya this time whereas we were more North before). We were staying in a pretty close knit residential area but did a bit of a hello to the neighbours which was nice. We had done the luggage forwarding again but had set it to come the next day so we would be the people available for receiving it. Spent the time around the airbnb and also tried having an uber eats delivered (which worked great lol).
11/05 - Shibuya, Shinjuku We spent most of this day around Shibuya as we wanted a few souvenirs for family and also hadn't visited Shibuya properly. Went to the crossing, then spent time mainly shopping and going around one of the Donkis. Pretty rainy again but not a problem for a shopping day.
12/05 - RX-7 Day Trip (Lake Hinuma, Ibaraki Flower Park), Kabukicho We used Omoshiro Rent-a-car for the RX-7 (for those interested, here's the car - https://i.imgur.com/HRX4DYy.png ) and they were great. We had it pre-booked again before we arrived in Japan as it's a pretty sought after car to rent. Bit banged up but nothing major, and we had it booked for I think 8 hours? We did return it a little early as we didn't really have anything else to do and didn't want to be late with a return as the shop closed at the time we'd be returning it. A funny part of the terms you agree to is no Initial D style driving. For the trip itself, we didn't have anything major planned so I made a makeshift plan to just go a bit out of Tokyo and visit somewhere different. I found this lake on maps that'd be not too far, didn't realise until we were there that it's less a lake for sights and more for fishing 😅. No worries though, as the main reason was to get some driving in and enjoy having the car (which was achieved!). Got some snacks from a 7/11 then went off. We had a lot of time left so we drove to Ibaraki flower park, yet another quick find from scrolling around Google Maps. It was a very beautiful park, they have a rose market there as well as selling some fresh produce. It's a small charge to go in the park but it's worth it for the hour or more you might spend there and will go towards the park maintenance. Also being the middle of Spring of course it's going to be beautiful with all the new blooms (: We spent time there admiring the countryside and being sad about going back home the next day. We went back to the rental place afterwards, also during this drive was the time where we were finding it so funny how we were sticking to the speed limits in this beautiful car and being overtaken by massive trucks going so much faster. We did have a moment that was like from a movie though, we entered the expressway after the tolls and as we were pulling in an older Honda NSX was being driven next to us. The guy driving looked over and gave us a nod with a straight face before pulling ahead a little so we could be behind him. We ruined that movie mood by both being so excited by how cool the moment was but hey it's one of those things that won't be forgotten at least!! He zoomed off a few minutes later but we weren't risking anything to keep pace ahaha. We returned the car then went back to Shinjuku for our final evening in Japan. We went back to Kabukicho and I was able to see the arch in red :') Took photos of the karaoke place that's in the games, would've gone in but my throat was killing!! So we just stuck to being outside. We went back to the area around our airbnb, had our last dinner there then went and packed up ready to go home.
13/05 - Home :') Our flight was leaving a little before 9am so we were leaving the airbnb for 5ish. Early start but as we'd gotten packed up it wasn't too bad of a walk to the station. Grabbed our train, it was fairly early on one of the lines that goes direct to the station so we were able to get on with ease. The train was rammed by the time we reached the station. No problems getting through the airport, got to our gate and then flew home.

Final Notes

I had such a good time in Japan, I loved being there and hope to return within the next few years if life permits!! We definitely missed some of those 'must-do's' such as Osaka Castle, any of the theme parks, Arishiyama Monkey Park, actually doing Karaoke, and some of the food options due to my own anxieties walking into places lol. That said, I don't regret the things we did end up doing and it just means I'll have to fit some of those into my next trip 😉. Although my partner would like to visit more Northern areas like Hokkaido or Sendai so we'll see!
We didn't have probably as much packed into each day as could've been but for me this was perfect and a great time for my first time. If you managed to read all this then thank you very much, and please let me know if you have any questions about the trip!! I'll be happy to answer. Thanks for reading!

Hi there. This will be my second loan on here for the exact same amount as I borrowed last time (fully paid) I also have a history on borrow where any loans have been fully repaid.
My sister recently moved in with me due to personal problems in her life, and the extra head to feed has just left me a little stumped and struggling until payday.
I need to get some food in the house and purchase my bus pass for work next week.
Can repay £90 on the 6th when I get paid.
Any help would be appreciated!

2023.05.28 15:04 thekookiejar_ Thank you, SHINee World! 💎💎💎💎💎

Thank you, SHINee World! 💎💎💎💎💎
I celebrated this weekend (this past week, really) with all the new SHINee content that I'm not sure if I have even seen everything that have been released. But this weekend's fanmeetings is the culmination of a busy week before we anticipate the comeback on June 26 and the concerts (gasp!) on June 23 to 25 (as in Selene 6.23).
As much as I was so elated watching the boys on Beyond Live and all the fan cams I can get my hands on in Twt, it is pics of SHINee World that almost always make me teary-eyed. A month ago, we were fighting for our boys to get a better venue for this originally one-day event. I distinctly remember making known my support for the boycott only to be condescendingly asked if I was even attending the event in person and be told that the new venue "better be sold out." Why? How dare we ask for a better planned event because we cannot guarantee for the show to do well? I was taken aback. The boycott was not mandatory and not supporting it did not make you a bad fan. I know that a lot of fans were on the fence about it because we just really wanted to support and see the boys--it had been so long since we saw them together on stage! But have we really come to the point where we consume so much entertainment, especially in the Kpop industry, that we simply allow companies to put out half-baked products and take them lying down?
Then Piece of SHINE weekend arrived and I started seeing pictures of our beautiful pearl aqua ocean. My SHINee World looks so beautiful! Knowing we fought for this not because we deserve it but because our boys do makes me so proud. (The members even acknowledged on both days how things were not easy for this weekend to happen and we know what that meant.) Despite our in-fandom disagreements, it's heartwarming how we came together for this. I cannot just imagine a 5k-capacity exhibition hall housing this. I just can't.
So thank you, uri SHINee World, for giving the boys a wonderful weekend, for mic-dropping on the doubters, for showing up. 감사합니다!
Edit: I just want to share these videos of SHINee's 6th member flexing their vocals: Honesty on day 1 and Kind on day 2.

2023.05.28 13:40 basharky my best friend was/is manipulated by her now ex boyfriend

my best friend was/is manipulated by her now ex boyfriend
this story involves me (18), my best friend (18f), her ex boyfriend (19m) let’s call my best friend chiara and her ex matt (i’m sorry this is very long, and i don’t live in america so i’m gonna try to convert our class system to the american system but it might not be perfect) chiara and i have been friends since a very long time, i skipped a class when i was 5 and ended up in her class. she has always been the most kind hearted, loving person and she’s honestly the best person i know. apart from the class i arrived in, our 3rd grade and 11th grade class, we were not in the same class. but in high school, i was in the same class as matt. in 6th grade we didn’t know each other but through the years we talked, and in 8th there was a point where we were pretty close (not romantically speaking, really just friendly speaking) during this time, i learned a lot on him. first of all he is a very intelligent person, like really, but the thing is that he loves manipulation. like really he said it to me, he was doing it for pleasure, and IT WAS WORKING?? i had a really good friend back then that he totally manipulated and he hurt her bad. at this moment i cut bridges with him because like why would i ever support this fucking shit, and after that we kinda stop talking, but i never forget and every time someone would talk about him i would just have in mind “oh yeah he’s just a fucking manipulator but go on”. but then time passes, i started having health issues leading to not going to school for half a trimester and chiara was really the only one here for me, and i eventually got better to only face way bigger personal issues at the beginning of 10th grade, and once again chiara was there for me like no one else was. i don’t think matt and chiara ever talked to each other from 6th grade to 9th grade, but pandemic hit when we were in 10th grade and we were in lockdown from march to may. when we were free to go out, my whole friend group was trying to shoot a movie (we were all appart of a cinema association) and matt got the leading masculin role and chiara the lead feminine role. and one day chiara came back from a set to tell a friend of us (let’s call her Jane) and me that she had a small crush on matt. i think jane didn’t really think anything of it, but the first thing i said was that he was the greatest manipulator i knew. but as chiara got closer to him, jane and i got too, and i began to talk a lot back to him (again just not romantically). he assured me he had changed because he grew up, that he was in therapy and realized how negative it could be for others -and him- and of course, because i’m so stupid, i believed him. and of course, as i was her best friend, chiara wanted my “confirmation” to see if he was like before or he had changed. and i told her it was good. now i did told matt that if he ever hurt her, i would break him into pieces, but when i tell you that telling chiara it was “all good” is my greatest regret, i mean it. a few weeks later, they began to date and eventually they got in a relationship. it was really messy at first because nor him or her had any experience, so there would be a lot a misunderstandings and little fights. then came the summer holidays, and things got worst. little fights became big fights and i literally spent my whole summer on the phone with one or another to help them. when summer was over, chiara and i learned that we were in the same class, we were super happy, and things were going great, we had a blast even going to class. but then covid rose up again and my highs school made up a system where we had class one week on monday, wednesday, and friday, and the week after tuesday and thursday, and like you’ve probably guessed we were not put in the same group. and then it began to completely fall. the fights between became even more frequents, but she was more and more reluctant to tell me what happened. chiara and i became a little more distant (not emotionally speaking, like we were still best friends but we were seeing each other a little less). i think i didn’t saw her for like a month and when i saw her she had loss A LOT of weight. chiara is the type of person to wear super baggy jeans with oversized sweat, so i didn’t really see it, but i felt it when we hugged. but it was so noticeable that my dad, who had not seen her for something like 3 months, saw her in the corridor of my house at midnight with a distant light, and just by putting his hands on her shoulder, he was able to tell she had lost weight. from this point, i was practically not seeing matt anymore, and chiara was telling me even less about them. the summer between our 11th grade and 12th grade hit me particularly hard on their situation. we had a week planned with jane, her and me, at chiara’s house. it did not go well. the main reason was that jane was a pain in the ass (to be quick), but the other reason is that matt wouldn’t let her be. he wanted them to call everyday, even though she didn’t want to, and he was starting an argument if she fought at any point that went against him. there were nights (on these holidays but also before) where she stayed up until super late because he was fighting with her, and she was not good. there was also another week planned before that, we were supposed to go with several friends including them. i was highly uncomfortable with sleeping in the same room as the other boys because i did not trust them AT ALL, and chiara didn’t feel like it either and she did not want to share a bed with matt too. we knew there was a room and the friend who invited us agreed to let us be in that room. but matt pulled a whole thing, and chiara ended up telling me that she would share the bed with him and i had to go with all the other boys. to explain a little, i have a really bad history with this (SA’s in particular) and she perfectly knew it, and she wouldn’t have done it unless she was forced too. i ended up not going to the trip, assuring her that it was not because of the bed but because my parents wouldn’t let me, even though i think she perfectly understood it

2023.05.28 12:44 Danielofars (32M) what's his karma in this life ?

This chart of a friend is quite interesting because he has several conjunctions in the 2nd house, 4th house, 6th house and 12th house, for that matter what's his karma in this life time? I wonder whether or not it has to do with spirituality because of Rahu and Saturn in the 12th house. Focusing on the house of losses, hospitals and abroad settlement, will he do well in foreign lands or maybe not? It must be complicated for his mind because he has Rahu in 12th which leads to desiring to live abroad, on the other hand he has moon in 4th house which indicates a desire to connect with the roots of his family and homeland.
He has mercury debilited in pisces however he is smart because mercury is Revati which is ruled by mercury. He has good speech and writing skills.
Please consider helping this man find his path in this life time. Overall I think the chart is good, but i want to know the opinion of the people who are vedic astrology wise.
Thanks in advance, bless you

2023.05.28 11:34 DerpyWriting68 Prison world

Authors note
morning all, I hope you enjoy the read. I may have missed some spelling mistakes or similar, if you spot any let me know. I'm a touch dyslexic.
Next chapter
Prince Artak of the Allitra: I tap my finger against the desk, wondering why I even bothered entertaining this imbecile of an advisor. For the last 2 days, he had been petitioning me to not go ahead with my plans. The great king had not tasked me with this, but it would be the start to my obtaining the throne. I had to prove my ability to conquer and lead.
“Sir, are we really going to uplift the population of the prison world? Prison World 23 Designated ‘Earth’ has held that title since the empire started... We abandoned” the prince’s advisor began, observing the minutia of the wooden floor, a luxury for even a single room. “Many creat...”
“You’re my advisor, not a coward... correct?” My patience running thin. It was the third day of this tirade and it had to stop. Slowly fanning myself with one icy white wing, I gave my advisor a stare so cold that it might’ve turned him to ice.
“N, no sir! Never!” The advisor tried to recover. “it's just w, we don’t know what risk they…”
“Enough. What we don’t know, we will learn. I want strategic advice on how to most easily conquer them, not, and let me be clear, I said not, on whether we do this. If you so much as suggest going back on my plans again, you will be the first Allitra to set foot. You will lead our army...” my voice sharp. Placing a now shattered glass on the table, I take a deep breath. “Look what you caused me to do now. That was pristine Marten glassware. The sands we harvest just once a standard for this type of glass.”
“M, My apologies, p, prince! I, I will buy a, a new set f, for you. P, please... Prince, they are not unified, they h, have hundreds, no, thousands of population centers. T, they have hundreds of leaders of nations. We just need to take each, one by one... T, they won’t even present a meaningful fight... based on what we know of these ‘Humans’”.
So began my conquest.
At first, it went well, easy in fact. We attacked ‘Africa’ they called it, a continent of small, poorly defended settlements. Even the largest cities had little in the way of defenses... None of the creatures we had abandoned here. It took a quarter of a standard to hold it, but after that, it got... difficult. The resistance went up. They were not ‘unified’ and yet every. Single. Country. Sent aid to the front. Not troops, but weapons, information, and worst of all... A Place for their people to retreat to. Each and every damn country was more densely populated than the last. After the first two standards, 7 billion humans occupied half the planet. Down from 9 across it. This had not gone well. Two standards were already twice as long as we had anticipated. They welcomed me in one city... ‘Vatican’ or something. They called me an ‘Angel’ some sort of deity-like entity. I guess they remember my great-great-grandfather. Regardless, they were chained.
It took 10 standards to put the planet and its people under my control. Only 3 billion remained. I thought I had the planet and its people anyway…
We had found no signs of them. It was a prison, missing its inmates. That said, I didn’t know what the inmates were… It was time to announce this to my father. I set up the meeting.
“Father, the war has been finished, but this was a prison world. I cannot find the prisoners.” I beamed positively into the camera.
“You’ve not found the prisoners?!?!” He bellowed. “You attacked there? Oh, for all that is... You stone-boned, idiot. Is this where my 10th armada went?” I watched my father rub his forehead, confused. “The humans are the wardens. They don’t know it, but they hold them in check... They make them on death, suppressing them in life. The damn planet is the prisoner. HOW MANY DID YOU KILL?!?!”
“6, 6 billion…”
“You do not leave the planet. Your armada does not leave the planet. No one leaves that planet. You are now the prince of the prison world... I’m sorry, but no one may leave. The 6th-9th armadas will destroy any fleet that attempts to leave. Yours included. They will be there in 24 hours and if you are not present, on my wings, I swear it, you will have nowhere to run.” He said before the connection cut.
“What could be here that’s so bad... We won...” I said, as the order passed over all ships, from the king himself, to land all ships on the surface. So they did.
2 standards later
“Commander, what do you mean objects have started to fly around out of nowhere in our population encampments? Are the human settlements affected?” The Prince began, already frustrated. He had been on this godforsaken rock for 12 times longer than intended and his father wouldn’t let him leave, lest another planet get infected. His ships had to land as they had largely had contact with human weapons and prisoners…
“No, sir, they appear unaffected. Why do you ask?” Commander Corvac replied, curious. “What are those monsters, anyway?”
The prince sighed. “They are infected. My great-great-grandfather infected the world by mistake a few tens of thousands of standards back. In short, the reason we cannot leave is that we may be infected by a world-cracking spore, queen spores at that.” I sunk into my soft feathered wings as they pressed into the chair. My mind was filled with the discussions I had had with my father over the past couple of stnardards. “Back in the old days, when humans were a young, primitive species, they were not much more intelligent than their “great apes”. Well, my father’s, father’s father’s father had found them. He had intended to conquer the world as well, much like I have tried to. The issue is, before that, he had been doing research, flew his ship had flown through a cracked world... they were looking for the cause of its destruction.”
“Okay, so why would that infect their world... wait world cracking spores?” The commander said incredulously... “Tell me this was the first...”
“Unfortunately, not commander, several worlds fell in quick succession. At the time, the cause was unknown. All they knew was that it seemed to be following my great-great-grandfather. The populations on those worlds went insane within a few standards of his passing. Then the world exploded, an investigation launched, then the cycle repeated.” You say every few cycles... then why hasn’t Earth…”
“Patience, I was getting to that. Hah, ironic, my asking for patience considering all I’ve caused through the lack of it. Anyway, that was until Earth. The humans had a rather unique resistance to the mind-altering effects. They seemed to put the spores to sleep. There were a few theories, though there is an accepted one. It is that they couldn’t feed on the sanity of a creature, which is almost certainly already insane. Most creatures have a few wars every couple of thousand years... Every 10-50 years with these things. With their propensity for war, destruction, and enslavement, they couldn’t be turned insane further... They starved it of nutrition, and the spore hibernated. It was only after this that the cause of the destruction was discovered. After those spores feed on enough entitles, they flood the world with billions of them. They would seep into the ground, the water, everything, getting to the mantle. Once in the mantle, it would use the heat to reproduce endlessly. Convert the minerals and metals into gaseous compounds, which expanded until the world cracked. In the cracked world were new queen spores, about a few million. This is among the trillions of dead spores’ standard spores. These queen spores start the cycle over. Earth houses millions of them. Without food, they stayed asleep.”
“Okay, so the humans are insane. What about the plants and animals?” The commander, now curious.
“Some of the earth's fauna could be taken over. Even the occasional human. How the spores manifest changed based on the queen and the environment. The oddity of humans is that they also seem to weaken the spores, something we can’t explain. One might consider spreading the humans then. Well, we tried. The population quantities needed for the immunity of nearby creatures are astronomical. Add the risk of inadvertently carrying a queen spore elsewhere, even if weakened... Well, it’s just too much risk. There was one successfully protected city like that. We stole a city of people from Earth and put them all in a deep cryogenic sleep. The Earth’s largest city at the time. The humans refer to it as Atlantis, thinking it sunk into the water... fools.”
“I wouldn’t say foolish, just not enlightened. It sounds like this was long ago after all. At least a king or two back.”
Regardless, the human ability to weaken the spore, and their hatred for anything taken over by it, seems to have kept the volume of living spores low. The human's go-to approach for most of their history is the destruction of any infected creatures. They have tales, you see, of creatures. Things called vampires, ghosts, wendigo, werewolves, hell hounds, demons, Kraken, and many others. All get slain. Hell, for thousands of years, any creature that went crazy basically got locked up or killed... possibly experimented on first. If they were killed, it typically involved burning the body after. The queen spore then moves to the next host, hoping to take it over as well, after the destruction of the standard spores before burning. 99.99999% of the time, it fails, and they get an immune creature.” The prince lectured, as his father had to him. “This is the predicament we face. Right now, we share a house with the sole creatures in the universe that seem capable of containing the spore... we cleared two-thirds of their world of those people. Those animals, no monsters you called them... they are spore controlled and the only way we can stop them is to get the humans to help... Do you think they will help us?”
The commanders’ wings spread and flapped a little before they settled. “What do we do... We can’t let this world or the humans die, but you just said the humans are crazy... Are they crazy enough to let their world die as a fuck you to us?”
“I don’t know.”

2023.05.28 11:22 Reasonable_Apricot20 Nothing if going right, will be homeless soon but I rather kill myself first.

Only thing keeping me alive is my pet. The last 5 years my life became a comfortable one to almost homeless. 5 years ago this winter my wife kicked me out of my very home because I told her I was bi sexual. I told her because we were having our very first kid and it's the only thing I've kept to myself. I was still much in love with her, she was ok with it at first then her mother came into the picture. Honestly don't know what I'm going to do, I went back to school because the place I was renting was only 550$ a month. With my loans and part time job I was able to graduate last year. I though things would look up for me since I got my diploma. I was able to find a job quite quickly but the pay was on the low end for the diploma I just did. But I took it as I needed work, I never got a 3 month evaluation and was with the company for 2 years. In that time I was ask to leave the apt I was in because they were doing Reno's. I said well I'm working so I took a spot closer to work. However it was not cheap, this is when the apts started to sky rocket. At my first year of my job with no performance review I mentioned to my boss about one. But nothing was done untill one week this year were they gave me a raise, then found out I was gay and I was promptly laid off and replaced. I have human rights involved and its in the courts hands now as I had proof. And email chain. Well now I was laid off my income insurance is not covering ally bills, choosing between eating, heat and light or my medication. I have the student load people down my neck because I can't make any payments, my ex wife is trying to garnish my EI but while I was working I was paying double the amount required giving me a few months I case this happened. I got a letter of disconnect for my heat and light on Friday with a disconnect date for this Tuesday. They want a full payment of $876 or I'll be cut off. I received a email for my internet that my internet will be cut off on June 9th if I don't pay them 98$ by June 6th. I am sparing my medication as it's costing me 143$ a week, I relied heavily on my medical insurance. I was just accepted into the drug card program here so starting Monday I only have to pay copay of 31$.
I've been hanging on by a thread since January, I stopped receiving emails and phone calls to the places I applied too. I have a feeling my old boss is retaliating because he has to deal with human rights.
Theirs nothing for me anymore, I can't afford all these depts. I have 2 months tops left before I get evicted. I have no where to go, homeless shelters are over full. My dog needs surgery where I was saving money for but since I lost my job I started a GoFundMe. But so far it's only covered her pre-op apt. I tried to do so much good in this world, I never asked for much. I spent my off work time being a volunteer firefighter, seen things I can't unsee, smelled horrible things that are so vivid. I was even in the military when I was 18. My ex wife took my house, my daughter, everything I owned down to my clothes. When I try too see my daughter my ex wife refuses and I had to get a lawyer. It's been a full year that she had me blocked and won't even send me a pic.
I've sold everything I have, I only have my computer to help me job seek. I work in IT. I have a endless impending doom feeling constantly. I lost my value, I can't get out of this hole. I'm don't fighting. Only a miracle can save me now. I hope my next life is not this horrible.

2023.05.28 11:11 kryriakoskapakoulak Chance a delulu African International who's been out of school for 2 years for Stanford REA💀

Demographics: International (South Africa), mixed (Indian and African, though I'm not 100% about this since my background is kind of unknown). Small Private , All Boys, Religious School. Sends 1-2 people to an Ivy every other year. One of the best in the country. Finished high school December 2021.
Intended Majors: Math, Finance, Business, CS, I don't really know which one I want to pick yet. SAT/ACT: 1540 (770RW, 770 Math) did it this year as an adult. Retaking on the 6th for 800 in Math.
Class rank: 12/170 (there was only 2% difference between me and the guy who was number 1 btw)
GPA: Finished with 92% for my leaving exams, but I started highschool very poorly. I have ADHD so I struggled a lot with that. I got diagnosed half way through Tenth grade and was given medication for it. After this my marks went up to 90%+ and stayed there. We don't use a GPA system here and all my marks up until twelfth were from internal assessments, only my 12th grade marks were done through some sort of board. Of the subjects available I took the hardest ones. My grades were as follows.
8th Grade: 59%
9th Grade: 70%
10th Grade: 82% (first half 60%, second half 90%, was diagnosed and medicated halfway)
11th Grade: 95%
12th Grade: 92% (Government officiated leaving exams)
Awards: Olympiad finalist (top 100 out of 100k), Olympiad semi finalist 4x. Won't specify which one as I don't want to dox myself, but its one, if not the, biggest Olympiads in the country. Also got some school awards like top student in x subject and stuff like that.
ECs:
After highschool:
Started my own business. Helps medical clinics with IT stuff. I live off the income from this. Taught myself all the knowledge required for this.
Tutor, I tutor kids in A-level Physics and Math. Also tutor some Engineering students in Math (I taught myself their syllabus). This is also paid.
Worked with refugees through a non-profit. Organised food, shelter, rehabilitation, etc... Nothing super impressive but I'm going to tie this into one of my essays really nicely.
TikTok account. 2 mill views in about 6 months. Posts study tips and stuff like that.
Gym. 1100lb total. Also train 4 people who pay. Helped them loose a cumulative 100kg. Started final year of highschool.
During highschool: Cofounded my schools investment society. 100 members out of school of 700
Math club - did quite well in olympiads. Was run by a teacher so no leadership positions anyway.
Head of the History society. Organized stuff and invited speakers.
Head of academics. Was responsible for helping people in my house (school was split up into houses like hogwarts about 100 in my house) with their academic tasks. Mainly just tutored, posted exam timetables, and connected people with tutors for subjects I didn't do.
School sport. My school requires everyone to do a sport. I did rugby and track. Was shit but it did take 6 hours per week.
Also babysat my brother and other kids (paid) for like an hour and half everyday after school.
Schools: Stanford REA, ivies, uchicago, Liberal arts colleges like williams and Swathmore, idk much about them but my friend said they're pretty cool.
Note: I applied last year to Harvard, Yale and Princeton. All RD. I did it on a whim and really regret it as I was rejected from them all. The application I sent was fucking awful. I assumed the US application process was similar to the UKs where the only really care about stuff relevant to what you intend to study and so I left out basically everything except for my olympiad wins and some coding courses I had done (most of the ECs on here weren't on my application 💀). The application I will submit the 2nd time around will make me look like an entirely different person. Also how will it look for me to apply at my old age (I'll be 21 when I actually start college)? I didn't know what I wanted to do after school, so I decided to work until I figured that out, worried if that has fucked me over. I'm also really worried about my GPA. I've been given conflicting advice. Some people say an upward trend looks good, others say its bad that I started off so poorly. I do have a medical excuse and my doctor could give a note if necessary.
Edit: I forgot to mention this, but my Uncle and Aunt are both professors at Stanford. We're not close at all, but my father is very close with them.

2023.05.28 09:14 dumbnunt_ Venus opposition Mars- going crazy with overthinking when you're dating/talking to someone

DAE overthink insanely and go hot and cold by turns in their own head when even getting close to talking/dating someone? But being kind of grumpy and lonely at times when single? (I have Venus in Cancer in the 6th exactly opposing Mars in Capricorn in the 12th quincunx Uranus. And I am Uranus ruled with Sun/Chiron in the 5th t Square Jupiter and Uranus).
The closest I've seen to my dysfunction is the last scene from Colin from Accounts (excellent BBC series) where the guy is crying in the backseat basically about how complicated love is.
What is your Venus Mars opposition (natally) like?

2023.05.28 05:58 glenlassan My Memories as a Manic Mormon Missionary in Maricaibo.... Or how my missionary service chemically rewrote my personal identity.

Are we ready for Storytime? Cool. Let's have a Storytime.
My personal medical & mental health odyssey, since 2001, has been dominated by a singular event. My LDS mission in Maracaibo Venezuela.
Before I dive into it, here is some basic info about Mania. Mania, is a state of being in an elevated high-energy mental state, typically for weeks or longer at a time. Hypomania, by contrast is when the same occurs for a lesser period of time, such as days.
While commonly associated with Bipolar disorder, Mania can in fact, be caused by other environmental factors. Environmental factors such as:
Anyone who's ever been on an LDS mission can tell you, that being a missionary checks off quite a few of those boxes. So with that in mind, my story can begin.
I am on the Autism spectrum & have ADHD. I was undiagnosed at the time, but needless to say, I didn't have a strong social toolkit for dealing with neurotypicals when I went on my mission. Compounding matters, was the fact that I was sent to the Spanish speaking Maracaibo Venezuela mission in 2001. So not only did I have crazy culture shock, but I was also forced to socialized with Neurotypical (NT) Utah elders, and had no idea on how to do so successfully, being an Neurodivergent (ND) from Northern New York.
So let's put a huge-ass check on "difficult life conditions" as yes, I was alone in a crowd, so to speak at the time. The mission itself expected us to be preaching about 60 hours a week, so we can definitely check off "High level of stress". Changes in sleep patterns? Super check. My MTC group had the honor of being the first group allowed to wake up at 6:30 AM rather than 6 AM. Seasonal changes? Super check. I'm from NNY. We have a 5 to 7-months of snowy weather per year. Maracaibo, on the other hand, has two seasons. "Hot summer" and "Hellish summer". Significant change in my life such as moving? I did that every few weeks as an elder. Extra super-duper check. Not to mention the whole culture shock thing. Loss or Bereavement? You betcha. I lost my entire world in one go. Trauma and abuse? Extra check. The mission itself is inherently abusive. High levels of stress? Goes without saying.
In other words, even in SNAFU conditions (Situation normal, all fucked up) missionary service is a literal incubator for manic situations. It of course hits some people more than others, due to various other factors, but inherently, missionary service is objectively a high risk factor for developing manic symptoms.
And then, on top of all that. I caught a goddamn tropical disease, and lost visible weight in three days. I was probably hypomanic, or manic before that point, truth be told. After that point, well. I was full on psychotic. I suppose that needs a sperate bit of medical explanation. Our current understanding of how psychotic & delusional & schizophrenic medications work, was based on the observation that many of these mental health conditions are nearly indistinguishable from the symptoms of taking too much speed. Once that link was discovered, many anti-psychotic meds were developed, that (more or less) functioned largely by acting as a downer, to reverse manic states, and by extension, pull people out of delusional psychotic states.
So with that in mind, is it any wonder, that when I was manic already, that tropical disease pushed me over the edge, into full on insanity?
I was in that state over a month. Stark raving mad. Working a 60+ hour workweek, in the hot deadly Venezuelan sun. In what was simultaneously a politically unstable 3rd world nation, and the nation with the 6th highest violent crime rate in the world at the time. I was malnourished. Overstressed isn't even the word for it.
And then, I got scared, and ran away from my comp for a day. And on top of all that, became even more stressed, even more malnourished, and dehydrated. Went from being mildly psychotic, to majorly psychotic, and three quarters dead in the span of a day.
Got sent home after that. But my doctors..... Well they ignored all of the above context. And put me on some rather nasty pills, known as Remeron and Haloperidol. As you might imagine from my description of how typical anti-psychotics work, these pills, individually and in combination, were basically tranquillizers.
For years, my nickname became "Sleepy" Life was living death. However, I persevered, my psychotic symptoms lessened, and I was weaned off both meds.
Unbeknownst to me at the time, anti-psychotics are a perhaps the most dangerous class of drugs to wean off of. Quite ironically, one of the major withdrawal symptoms of Haloperidol is manic symptoms, and rebounding, and more intense psychotic symptoms.
Did my doctors pay any attention to the consequences of taking me off those pills?
Nope! I was told that the mania and psychosis I experienced when I got off those pills meant I was schizophrenic, and would likely need to be on pills for the rest of my natural life.
My new cocktails? Risperdal, Effexor, Singular, Benztropine. The important one to pay attention to there, is Risperdal. Risperdal is the one that makes CIS men grow breasts and lactate. My asshole doctor went years without giving me the blood tests that were recommended monthly while on that pill. When I finally got one, he asked me if I could lactate, because my prolactin levels were higher than a pregnant woman's.
So I was switched from Risperdal, to Abilify. What a change! My sex drive turned back on! I had a second puberty in my late 20's! Very fun (not really) As I grew progressively more capable, and able tto intellectually and emotionally function (at all) I decided enough was enough, and weaned off all my meds, AMA, which happened to line up with my leaving the LDS faith.
Silly me. wanna know what one of the withdrawal effects of Abilify is? Mania! a So on top of leaving a toxic faith, and getting rid of toxic doctors, I had to put up with yet more goddamn manic episode.
Fun fact: Mania isn't just trying to do everything all at once. Mania can also turn into irritability and rage. Stack on top of that the heaps of abuse that my church, and parents had heaped on me, and well, I was a bit of an angry asshole at the time, to put it mildly.
And yes. My good old friend, mania induced psychosis popped up again. Another trip to the psych ward. Another misdiagnosis. My mania was such, that I was misdiagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and given Depakote.
Depakote, is an instant old age pill. It'll kill you to stay on, and will destroy you if you get it off wrong, and it'll take months to recover even if you get off of it right. It's a rather nasty pill. I got off it as quickly as I could, but yeah, you guessed it. Depakote withdrawal also includes agitation and irritability.
For the longest time, I thought that the angry asshole I was, when I left the church, and the not-great things I did and said to friends and family on the way out was a choice. Turns out I was wrong. It wasn't a choice. It was literally a chain of dominos, that started with my mission, and was carried along by a successive string of literally incompetent doctors, none of which who could be bothered to pay attention to the chain of events as a whole.
And yes. During the whole process, my parents, and my doctors kept telling me that I was the broken one. That I was the one in the wrong. That they knew what was best. It turns out, that it was the other way around. They were breaking me, and blaming me for being broken. Trying to take accountability for what they had done to me, tore me apart. Destroyed my sense of self confidence, and self worth, from the inside out.
I'm 41. I'm still living with the repercussions of all of the above. I'll never stop really, at least not till the day I die anyways. I'm starting to make peace with it somewhat. Because holy fuck. At no point, in the entire process, was my agency respected. At no point in the process was my human rights respected. Between the church, and my asshole doctors prescribing pills like they were candy, at no point was I fully and truly responsible for the state of my mind and body, because fun fact. Our brains are just big computers, with a lot of chemistry in them. The church and my doctors robbed me of control over the chemistry end, and decisions I made that I thought that were fully my own, weren't actually. I still feel guilt for the parts that were in my control of course. I won't ever stop feeling that. But at least now, knowing what I know, I know that a lot of that, was not me. Not things I had chosen. It was things, the church, and my shitty doctors chose for me. And that helps.
I'm not going to lie. It took me decades to figure all of this out. Hopefully, some young people can read my story, and realize how much agency the church stole from them, and use that information to improve their mental health, and sense of self-worth. Hopefully.
