2023.06.03 06:06 EQBC Why Boxing?
This is the first question that comes to everyone’s mind when they think about it.
Here are some but not all best physical benefits of Boxing.
A killer cardio workout that burns some serious calories real fast, improves your hand-eye coordination, helps build shoulder boulders, improves Bone Mineral Density, increases the endurance & stamina, enhances cardiovascular health, tones & shapes the body, and improves total body strength. These are few to be mentioned. Anyone involved in boxing knows of its power – particularly among working-class kids – to improve health, education, community cohesion and to lower crime.
You hear it all the time: You need to do cardio to protect yourself from heart disease, burn calories, and lose or maintain your weight. There are not enough promoters of boxing as a sport in the modern world. It’s a stressed-out world out there and boxing training really helps you to decrease stress level. Also, you must exercise to improve body composition out of the sedative lifestyle of young people. Easter Queens boxing club is known for its Athletic Training and Conditioning.
Boding experts have pointed out some important benefits for kids as well in the age group of 5 year to 15 year. Boxing focuses on agility, speed, quickness, balance, and hand-eye coordination, Confidence Building, Health and Proper Fitness, Self-Defense, Good Eating Habits, Higher GPAs, Staying out of Trouble, Humility and Patience.
What do boxing coaches look for in a boxer?
It is difficult to find a good boxing coach that gets the best out of you in the ring through his training out of the ring. If we think about a good boxing coach, he must possess the ability to work with fighters that vary in style, size, age, and experience. They will be able to analyze your strengths and weaknesses, then plan a training strategy. A coach will train you to augment your strengths and develop, improve upon and eventually eradicate your weaknesses.
How important is a boxing coach?
There is a famous saying about boxing “Behind every great boxer, there is a great boxing coach”.
Finding the right boxing trainer for you is essential to improve your boxing ability and to continuously develop as a boxer. In fact, trainers are so important, most professional fighters often have multiple coaches specializing in different expertise.
One more question can pop into your mind in this case, that is, do you need a boxing trainer?
Let me clear it for this sport, one cannot become a pro boxer by self-training with no trainers, You can’t. You must have a trainer to be able to do it right. You must also be able to spar unless you like to fight your imagination.
Something about trainers, what to consider while selecting a trainer. A great trainer must have a mental and emotional connection with the fighter, feeling what his fighter feels, and being able to see what the fighter is seeing. Trainers don’t give up on their boxers, and never let them feel unappreciated and incomplete. Remember one thing, a trainer who is in it for the quick buck is not a good trainer.
Same time you need a great boxing club to train yourself. You will never learn how to box without joining a boxing club/gym. A good, equipped boxing club is as much important as a good, experienced trainer, it can be even a friend who has experience from boxing trainings and fights, so he can correct you on your mistakes on boxing mitts, a lot of sparrings to learn how to react to a moving living target, but alone? No chance. If you want to be a recreational boxer, any gym that has a boxing program will do, but if you really want to devote yourself to the sport, you’ll have to find a good gym. Eastern Queen boxing club is one of the great places in the USA to join and get trained from experienced trainers to transform yourself into a professional boxer.

2023.06.03 05:12 DuncanStudios2000 Part 1 of Chapter 11 of my book 'Dragons of Fireborne', enjoy!
They were nearing the camp when a bell sounded. A group of Hunters fled out and stood guard at the entrance, out came a large burly man on a Death Eater. He rode up to them. He had a blade for a hand. It was Shack-RA. He trodded up to Draco and the others. "Well, if it isn't my Queen!" He said mockingly. "And what do I owe the pleasure?" Draco stepped forward. "We just simply need to pass through the valley to enter the Border city..." She told him. Shack-RA jumped to the ground. "Your kind is not welcome here!" He said. Dagon inched forward. "He's right..." He said quietly. "Listen to the plucky bastard! LEAVE!!" Shack-RA shouted. Dagon gained composure. "Don't call me plucky!" He said. "I don't even know what that means..." He said quietly. "Let us pass through and we'll give you some food and drink," Draco said. Shack-RA stalked around on his beast. "We do not need your poison!" He said angrily. "We do not need your filth OR your wealth!!" Draco stepped forward. "Then just let us simply pass through," She said calmly. "Why don't you go around the valley?" Shack-RA asked. "It will take several days longer" Draco replied. "We need to get these supplies to White Willow..." Shack-RA looked surprised and leaped off his drake. "I didn't know you two were friends..." He said slyly. Draco stood straight. "We aren't, they just need our help..." She said calmly. "Give to those who ask and to those who take-" "Quiet Quim!" Shack-RA interrupted. He walked closer to her until he was right in her face. "You best leave now, because my pets get VERY hungry, and they haven't had breakfast yet..." He threatened. The two biggest Death Eaters stood on either side of him. They peered down at Draco and the others. "Your beasts do not scare me, boy," Draco said. "A little..." Dagon said quietly behind Keith. Shack-RA pointed his bladed arm at Draco. "YOU CALL ME BOOOYYY!!!!!????" He yelled. "YOU WILL SEE WHO TRULY IS MORE POWERFUL!!!" Draco stared down his blade calmly. "You do not scare me," She said quietly. Shack-RA took a few steps back. "I bring fear into the hearts of man!!" He shouted. "I am not a man..." Draco replied calmly. Shack-RA roared. "YOU MAY BE QUEEN BUT I AM GOD OF THIS VALLEY!!!!" He shouted louder. Draco narrowed her eyes sternly. "You are no God, you're a parasite..." She said. Shack-RA glared at her. "My Hunters will eat you alive!!" He said. Draco kept her composure. "You will kill no one today, or ever again," She told him. Shack-RA snarled. "Perhaps if I introduce you to my Eaters you'll beg for my mercy!" He threatened. Keith unsheathed his sword. "HOW DARE YOU THREATEN YOUR QUEEN!!" He shouted. Shack-RA looked at Keith. "It is not a threat, just an apprise..." He said. "My Eaters just eat people because they smell fear..." The Eaters took a step closer and stared at Draco. Draco looked back at them then returned her gaze at Shack-RA. "You do not scare me..." She said. Shack-RA chuckled. "Of course, I scare you, why else would my Eaters want your flesh?" He said.
Draco looked at him unhindered. "You-do-not-scare-me..." She said. "Then why bring your army?" He asked her. "To protect those I can not..." She replied Shack-RA scoffed. "Your army is pitiful and not with power!" He said. "You see my army?" "THAT'S an army!" Draco looked at the army. "Yes, I guess it is..." She said. Shack-RA looked back at her. "What power do you have that can stop them?" He asked. Draco gazed at them. "I have a power that's far stronger than any man..." She said. Shack-RA snorted. "You have no power here!" Draco looked at him. "Maybe... But he does..." She clapped her staff on the ground. A dark shadow loomed over her. Shack-RA looked up at the clouds but saw nothing. A low distant bellow sounded through the air. He looked at the camp as a large 20-foot dragon swooped down and blew a pillar of fire at the camp burning it to the ground. "Nothing is hotter than dragon fire," Draco said as Shack-RA looked in shock. The dragon pitched upwards back to the sky and turned back to the camp. The dragon blew another pillar of fire at it finishing it off. Shack-RA turned to Draco in anger. "SWINE!!!" He shouted. "You will now feel death!!" "I am not afraid..." Draco said calmly. Shack-RA chuckled. "If you are not afraid, then what are THEY doing here?" He said pointing to the Death Eaters. Draco shrugged. "I am not afraid of them..." "Perhaps it's your fear they smell..." She said. They were staring at him. "You can tell a lot about someone's biggest fear by what weapon they choose..." She continued. Shack-RA looked at the drakes. "You... Fear death..." He jumped back and attempted to run, but one of the drakes pushed him down with its snout. Shack-RA started crawling away, but the other drake grabbed his leg with its mouth and then bit down crushing his bones. Shack-RA howled in pain. He turned to look at them as the drakes stepped toward him He raised his hands and screamed. The first drake bit down around his upper body and lifted him up, and the other drake bit down on his lower half as he screamed. The drake pulled him in half he continued his blood-curdling scream, then the drake with his upper half crunched his body between its jaws and it fell silent. The drakes crunched on his corpse and ate him up. Dagon looked in disgust and gagged. Draco stared sternly, ensuring he was dead. The drakes lapped his blood up off the snowy rocks and then licked their mouth. The drakes turned to Draco and stepped forward. Draco stared at them sternly. The drakes sniffed her for a moment and growled. Draco stepped forward and unlatched the collars off their necks. The drakes sniffed the collars and looked at Draco. They bellowed and ran off. They stared as the drakes disappeared in the distance. Draco calmly turned toward the group and saw them staring. "What?" She asked. Keith stared at her. "You just released those beasts into the wild..." He said. Draco stepped forward. "Yes, yes I did..." She said. Keith was confused. "But why?" He asked. "Because they're better in the wild than with murderous Hunters..." She said.

2023.06.03 04:53 Edge-The-Fiend How I Would Book Survivor Series 2023
Asuka (c) vs. Bayley vs. Iyo Sky for the SmackDown Women's Championship
Asuka decides to go on a rampage against Damage CTRL, defending her belt against one member each PLE. In a SummerSlam dream match, she beats Iyo Sky to begin this challenge. At Extreme Rules, Asuka defeats Bayley to retain the championship. Now, she ould only have one more member to beat: Dakota Kai. Unfortunately, Dakota is seen to be out for the rest of 2023, so Asuka can't complete this challenge here. So, Asuka thinks of the next best possible option: beat both Bayley and Iyo Sky again! In a triple threat match, Asuka's looking to show her dominance once again, while Bayley and Iyo are not gonne let this moment slip from their hands again.
Surprisingly, Dakota Kai got a front row ticket in the crowd just to see this triple threat match. When Bayley and Iyo come out to their respective music, they both hug Dakota to show that their sisterhood wouldn't break for some singles gold. During the match, it basically looks like a handicap match, and nothing like the triple threat match at Survivor Series 2009. But no matter what move they hit, whether it be a Rose Plant or a Moonsault, Asuka always kicks out! The only target for the competing members of Damage CTRL is hurting Asuka to the point of not kicking out. There comes a point where Asuka is down on the announce table, and Iyo Sky is on the top turnbuckle, getting the crowd to stand up in anticipation! She flips off the turnbuckle, but Asuka moves out of the way at the last possible second! This makes Iyo crash right into that table! Bayley reaches out for a kneeling Asuka while in the ring, but Asuka spits out that fuckin' mist and locks in the Asuka Lock! Bayley taps out, although she's still thinking: "Dakota's watching! Don't tap!"! But she tapped because in WWE canon, there is nothing more excruciating (at least not involving weapons) than getting caught in the Asuka Lock while being blinded by the mist! Asuka laughs right in Dakota's face as Kai is worried for her sisters.
Winner and still SmackDown Women's Champion: Asuka
The Judgment Day (c) vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Latino World Order vs. Pretty Deadly for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship
At SummerSlam, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio beat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to win the Undisputed Tag Titles. As it was due to a rollup while grabbing the tights (guess which member of Judgment Day did that), KOZaynia got a rematch at Extreme Rules, but still lost due to interference by Finn Balor. Because of the continued interferences, KOZaynia get another shot at the titles, but there's a catch: There are two SmackDown Tag Teams that have been dominating the division for the past five months. Those teams are The Latino World Order and Pretty Deadly. Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde have proven that they are championship worthy, maintaining The LWO's legacy. Pretty Deadly have also proven to be fantastic, retaining their status in NXT as one of the best duos in this company today! Both have also earned a shot at the Undisputed Tag Team Titles.
At Survivor Series, the match is a flurry of strikes, high-flying moves, and double-team maneuvers. With Judgment Day's strength, KOZaynia's resilience, Legado's aerial prowess, and Pretty Deadly's Ultimate Opportunistic strategy, it very much looks like anyone can walk away with the four belts. Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley also try to make sure that Judgment Day walk away with the belts, using cheap shots whenever they can. Rhea even hits Joaquin Wilde with the Riptide! Eventually, Cruz Del Toro and Finn Balor are both pinning Elton Prince and Sami Zayn, respectively, and the ref counts to three! They both argue about who the ref was counting for, and it turns out that the referee was counting for Del Toro! Legado Del Fantasma are the new WWE Tag Team Champions! This leaves Finn Balor fuming for another title opportunity.
Winners and new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions: The Latino World Order
Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship
Ilja Dragunov has been on a roll on the main roster ever since defeating Gunther at SummerSlam to end his reign at 422 days! Dragunov is much more well known as the wildcard killer that was seen on NXT. However, there is another man who has been on a roll since returning to WWE: The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. Cody has faced off against current Seth Freakin Rollins, Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns since returning. But now, he's facing someone who you don't even know what move is coming next. And Ilja Dragunov is the only thing standing in the way of calling Cody Rhodes Intercontinental Champion for a third time. The WWE Universe is hot in anticipation for this first time clash!
In the match, it is as bit of exciting as you would expect from these two. For every grapple that Cody has, Dragunov has a lightning quick punch. For every kick that Dragunov has, Cody has a knee. By the end of the match, Ilja Dragunov runs for the Torpedo Moscow, but Cody ducks and hits a disaster kick for a two count. Cody runs for a Cody Cutter, but Ilja knees him in the back of the neck and lands a Sick Lariat. He backs into the corner of the ring again, with craze in his eyes! He points at Cody and lands the Torpedo Moscow to get the three count and retain his IC Title!
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: Ilja Dragunov
Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter for the Women's Tag Team Championship
Ever since winning the Women's Tag Titles, Shayna and Ronda have ran through the competition, defeating every made up team that Adam Pearce could possibly create. But for Survivor Series, they have a new challenge: an actual tag team of KC Squared. Kayden and Katana have shown their ability to fight til the end in NXT and the main roster. However, the champions are not amused, seeing KC2 as stepping stone to their 'reign of terror'. But Carter and Chance are ready to see how well they fare against half of the Horsewomen.
In the match, Shayna uses submissions target KC'S arm and KC's leg. But Kayden's quickness and precision to bounce back into this match. Ronda is just being her rowdy self, punching and flipping the KC Undercovers whenever she can. But Katana uses her past from American Ninja Warrior to catch the fighters off guard. After trying to catch up with Katana at the end of the match, Shayna finally grabs her and locks in the Kirifuda Clutch, making Katana tap out while Kayden and Ronda brawl on the outside to retain the titles.
Winners and still Women's Tag Team Champions: Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey
Seth Freakin Rollins (c) vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship
Seth Rollins holds the World Heavyweight Championship up to this point, retaining the title against the likes of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Shinsuke Nakamura. But his next challenge comes in the form of Der Ring General, Gunther! Gunther is on the radar after losing his Intercontinental Championship to Ilja Dragunov at SummerSlam. He almost immediately challenges The Visionary to a match at Survivor Series, which Rollins happily accepts. He'll gladly defeat 'Walter' again.
This match is obviously a banger of a match. There are knees, chops, slaps, headbutts, suplexes, stomps, boots, everything! Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser do try to interfere, but Rollins takes them out with Suicide Dives. Gunther has Rollins in a sleeper hold, but Rollins counters with something akin to the Salida Del Sol, laying both men out and down for the count.
L... A... KNIGHT!
Holy Shit! LA Knight runs down the ramp with his Money in The Bank Briefcase, and cashes it in during the fucking match! He's pulling a Seth Rollins! As Samantha Irvin announces that LA Knight is cashing in his briefcase, Knight hits Seth with a BFT and immediately pins him to become the second World Heavyweight Champion of this lineage!
Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: LA Knight (via MITB Cash-In)
The Usos vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa
After Night of Champions, Roman Reigns is absolutely irate at Jimmy Uso for what he did; if he didn't superkick him, TWICE, then Roman and Solo would have held the Tag Team Championships by now! Jimmy is rebelling against Roman for all the abuse that he and his brother have endured for the past three years. He believes that he should be The Tribal Chief, and not Roman, because he will actually treat his family with respect when they help him retain a title for three years. At Money in the Bank, Reigns retains the championship in a scene similar to Hell in a Cell 2020: Roman having Jimmy locked in the guillotine choke, with Jimmy reaching out to Jey, who actually got spiked by Solo per Roman's orders (unwillingly however). Jimmy passes out, but Roman doesn't let him go long after the bell!
At this point, Jimmy Uso is not considered a part of The Bloodline anymore by the champion. It's now Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Paul Heyman, and Solo Sikoa. Jey, however, is not thrilled to be a part of this group anymore. At SummerSlam, Roman retains the title against Bobby Lashley, with the help of Solo. Jey doesn't even show up to Detroit, which is pissing Roman Reigns off even more. He won't be at Extreme Rules, but he has the perfect match to replace his usual place on the card, the main event: Jey Uso vs. Solo Sikoa! This is an emotional match for both brothers, with both hesitating to hit each other with their biggest moves. Solo eventually hits Jey with the Samoan Spike to win this difficult battle.
Roman is back, and he's proud of Solo for delivering the final blow. Sikoa says nothing, but his silence is really speaking a million words at this point. Jey Uso finally lets out his frustrations on The Tribal Chief, saying that Reigns isn't giving his family credit for him even keeping the championship for this long. He doesn't care about The Bloodline. He's only caring for himself and what he can do to keep those two belts. If he did, then Jimmy would be here right now. Jey asks Solo what he thinks about it. Nothing comes out of his mouth. Roman decides to have a tag team match at Survivor Series: The Usos vs. Roman and Solo. Everyone is clear about what they want except two people: Solo and Heyman.
At Survivor Series, Roman confronts Jey head-on without an ounce of heart. The crowd empathizes with Jey's struggle against his own family. Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa's silence grows more pronounced, his conflicted emotions evident in every hesitant movement he makes. The Usos are still one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and they prove this be executing their most famous moves. However, Roman and Solo prove their dominance throughout the match. Heyman is just sitting back with his heart racing as he's witnessing a family war. But then, Solo Sikoa once again hesitates, granting Jey Uso an opportunity to capitalize! Jey hits Solo with a superkick, and pins him for the three count! The emotional rollercoaster of this match reaches its peak as The Usos stand tall. Roman's expression is a mixture of disappointment and contemplation. Solo Sikoa rises to his feet, exchanging in a brief glance with The Tribal Chief. This signals the uncertainty and complexity that lies ahead for The Bloodline's future.
Winners: The Usos

2023.06.03 04:50 Drakolf The Djinn's Parting Gift:
I still remembered that day, when I happened upon the ring.
Most people, when they think of genies, they think of a magic lamp, one that must be rubbed to summon them. In the original story of Aladdin, he had been given a magic ring, which summoned a lesser Jinn than the one that came from the lamp.
None of this was on my mind, of course, when I rubbed the ring. I just liked the texture of it, and was shocked when it appeared.
"After countless years, I am freed from that prison." It was neither male, nor female, yet it looked very similar to what I expected. The Jinn bowed his head to me. "I am a Jinn of that ring, once willingly bound in service to a great and magnanimous magician, now freed once more. Your wish is my command."
Of course, I was a little excited, but I needed to know what I was dealing with, so I had asked, "What are the limitations of my wishes?"
It smiled. "A wise question, Master. I am capable of granting any wish, however, you would need a Jinn of a lamp to undo the wishes I grant. Where they would give only three, in contract, I shall grant you all that you desire, with the understanding I cannot know precisely your intentions."
"If I say a wish out loud, will it always happen, or is my intent required?"
"I must interpret all wishes as being intentional." He answered. "Though, I must abstain from any wish that would deliberately cause harm."
"Very well. I wish to have the wisdom to anticipate how my wishes may end up."
He bowed, and I was given that wisdom.
The wishes I made were largely to make my life better, to pull me out of the rough situation I was in. I didn't wish for wealth or beauty, such things were greedy and vain, and I would only suffer for it in the long run, when the Jinn would feel the corruption of my heart, and refuse to serve me.
I instead made wishes that made situations more favorable for me in terms of working toward what I wanted. I wished to know how to take care of my skin such that I no longer suffered from dry skin, and was granted that knowledge. I wished that my father would get a raise for his hard work, and he came home happier than I'd seen him in years.
Making other people happier was worth more to me than any selfish wishes- though, I did certainly allow myself some benefit, something that could help me with a problem.
Yet, as time went on, I noticed the Jinn would often look away, their eyes sadly cast toward the horizon.
"Jinn." I said.
"Yes, master?"
"If you could wish for anything, what would it be?" I asked.
They were surprised, "Master, I could never-!"
"You have made my life bearable." I said. "My family is no longer in dire straits, my neighbors are all happy with their lives, and I'm the healthiest I've ever been. So ask anything, I promise to make it a wish."
"If it is your wish, Master." He said.
"It is."
"I wish I could be free, to return to my home." They said.
"I wish the wish you uttered came true."
They gave off such a beautifully serene smile, the golden wristbands that had adorned their arms simply snapped open, falling to the ground, and then they were gone.
I still kept those arm bands, as a reminder, along with the ring, which no longer functioned as it had. That was five years ago. I go to college, carrying those treasures with me, keeping them safe. I polish them, keeping them clean, the metal always warm to the touch, pleasant.
On occasion, I wondered about what they felt like, when worn, why they had removed themselves from the Jinn.
One day, I took them out, and took off my ring. I had this thought that, perhaps, the wristbands would give me the same power as the Jinn, so I placed my left arm in one half of a wristband and slid it shut, then the other.
I gasped as they shrunk, wrapping firmly, yet pleasantly around my wrists. I admired them, feeling that I was finally complete. I admired the smooth polish, running my fingers along them, but I was a little disappointed that I didn't gain any phenomenal cosmic power.
I reached over to my Master's ring, but felt a jolt as my fingers neared it.
Oh.
Oh no.
I had placed my Master's ring very deliberately, so that it could be found, and now, any effort I made to move it was met with a backlash. That was when my roommate came in.
"Whoa, cool armbands." He said.
I felt compelled to tell him, "Please, put the ring on."
"Why?" He asked.
I told him the story. At first, he was skeptical, but when I showed him I couldn't touch my Master's ring, he believed me.
"So, anyone who wears this ring becomes your master." He said.
"Please." I begged, so he picked it up and put it on. I felt such relief that I thanked him profusely. "Now that you are my Master, I am bound to serve your will, do to as you wish to the best of my ability."
I saw the look in his eye, the one that told him to milk this for what it was worth, but he shook his head. "Alright, I'm sorry, but this place is a pigsty. Help me clean up."
The joy of following his command compelled me to clean the place from top to bottom. Upon finishing, I felt utter euphoria.
"Please, Master. Do not hesitate to use me."
"Alright, let's try this. You are free now."
The wristbands opened and fell from my arms. I picked them up and said, "Thanks."
"Sorry for using you." He said. "But this place really needed cleaned."
He gave me the ring back, and beyond that brush with the supernatural, he never questioned it, beyond wondering what else was real. I didn't throw away the wristbands or try to have them destroyed. Before, it was because they were a dear treasure. Now, it was because they were mine.
I felt a deep desire to wear them again, but wearing the ring, prevented the wristbands from locking. When I finished college, I knew I couldn't pursue the career I had wanted anymore, I had planted something inside of me that yearned to serve, so I switched gears, training to become a valet, honing the perfect skills to serve anyone who needed it.
I didn't even ask for money, only room and board. I had abandoned my prior life, permanently changed the course of my existence, and the only way I could be happier was if I was wearing those wristbands.
So I found someone who liked being called Master, someone I knew who would appreciate my service. I told him my story, showed him the armbands, and told him, "When these are on, I will become completely dedicated to you. If you cannot live with this, then simply free me, and I will search for a new master."
He consented, I put on the arm bands underneath my uniform, and showed him that what I said was true. When Master put his ring on, I felt relieved. Master never took off the ring, never gave me orders he felt were bad. He even told me he only kept me because he was terrified of what would happen to me if someone unscrupulous found me first.
I didn't regret my decisions, but I was certain if I had known what would have come of me, I would have never put them on. Or maybe I would have regardless.

2023.06.03 04:44 NamelessNanashi [The Gods of Dragons: Beginning] Ch 13 - New Samples
---
Table of Contents ---
Summer 4986, 15 Akamoth Shaloon left the Firewyrm with the journeymen, tired and literally drained but smiling since she was allowed to help them feed and clean the animal specimens. Before continuing down the hall, the Archmage turned back to the small stable. She sighed as the Firewyrm hissed at one of the specimens for crowding too close to the bucket of meat she was dishing out to them. She was like a mother chastising over-eager toddlers. Shaloon’s lips curled in a sneer, her words slipping out in a growl of mixed languages, “
Appropriate. Might as well be,
her samples
allowed for their
evolution…”
“Archmage?” Journeyman Brom looked up from bottling the Firewyrm's blood.
Fool, he would know all the words she'd said… But what sentence structure had she used? She couldn’t remember and hadn’t noticed. She walked away, having been talking to herself anyway.
She walked up the spiral stairs to the larger labs on the ground floor, the laughter of the Firewyrm ringing in her ears. Perhaps mother wasn’t the right word. The girl didn’t see them as children but as something else… “toys,”
treasures.
She didn’t bother to knock before entering one of two main labs on the ground floor, and Morndancer didn’t bother to look up from his book, “We need
purer samples.” she stated, leaning on the doorframe and crossing her arms to look down on him in the sunken room.
Morndancer snorted, “And where do you expect to find them?
We have the Firewyrm.”
Shaloon growled, not looking forward to having this argument again. “She is
tainted. Her samples mix on a
molecular level, and the spell that
changed her…”
“
She is our greatest success!” Morndancer slammed his book closed, turning wide, mad, eyes on Shaloon, “You don’t think I tried to make something pure?
Something complete? Do you have any idea how many priceless samples and artifacts we wasted before creating something that could actually survive?
They are the closest things we have to true-”
“And yet, instead of focusing on
replicating them, we waste our
time trying to breed the
beast out of
animals!” Shaloon shouted then cursed, pushing roughly off the door frame, “I have sent to the
central Talon and requested
pure samples. They will be here in a
month.”
“
A month…” Morndancer mouthed, then his face twisted, “You sent for them over a season ago and are just now telling me?
Why not cut your way there yourself if you are that eager to split our efforts?”
Shaloon turned her nose up at that. She had been transferred here, to this frozen backwater Talon, because she was one of the few Archmages able to cut a hole through space and teleport through the outer planes. She had allowed the transfer because she'd wanted to experiment with this man. What a disappointment. He'd been the greatest mind in the central Talon, making the most substantial progress seen since the extinction. But he refused to continue that line of study, and was now starting to ignore the last fifteen years of experiments here.
“You won’t even let
me use the wyvern. It’s been
cloistered away in
caves for the last two and a half
years while you ramble about gods and
Chosen…”
“I saw one, Shaloon!” he shouted, jumping to his feet and knocking his book to the ground. Shaloon gasped, rushing down the steps for the book. Picking it up, she held the priceless tome to her chest as if cradling a crying child. “
The Talons must shift their focus,” Morndancer paced around the room in circles, talking more to himself than to her, “If there is one, then there will be more.
The wyrms gave them the power to reach across the planes. They will be the key.
The children will create their own brood…”
Reverently Shaloon placed the book back on its pedestal and turned for the door. Morndancer had finally tipped over the edge. It was the inevitable fate of anyone who exposed their minds to the type of magic they studied. And he had reached deeper than any other. The human mind wasn't meant to converse with the forces that granted their power. She would fall too, eventually.
“But until then…” she turned back to the pacing Archmage, “The
samples will be here in a
month, escorted by Journeyman Karlo,”
Morndancer finally looked up, "Karlo will never advance past Journeyman,
He's halfway to the Outerplains already." Shaloon smirked, "Aren't we all?" and left the lab.

Veon-Zih cracked his neck and rolled his shoulders while he stood in line at the docks. Waiting patiently to present his papers to the guard signing off on the passengers disembarking from Oane. A second guard passed him, heading for a wagon to inspect the goods. The enlisted men looked tense, going through the papers and goods with more focus and efficiency than they usually would, A Paladin officer hovering over them, his hands clasped tightly behind his back and silver armor gleaming in the sun.
Veon-Zih smiled at the Paladin, handing his papers to the enlisted but speaking with the knight, “As much as I appreciate your inspired diligence, Sir, this would go so much faster if you didn’t have them checking and double-checking each signature three times over.”
“Proper procedure is key in keeping us safe, Mr…” he trailed off, looking toward the soldier who flipped to the front of the Monk's massive book to show his name, “Vee… ohn… Zee… ha?”
Close enough, “That it is good Sir. Carry on.” there was no point in arguing with Paladins over proper procedures. Even when it hampered efficiency.
Behind him, the wagon driver shifted nervously as the soldier began asking questions while perusing his trade logs. “I, um… Mr. Karlo?” Veon-Zih glanced over his shoulder as the driver stuttered. The portly man breathed an audible sigh of relief as a second man hopped from the wagon and addressed the soldier. This man was tall, or at least appeared to be, with his head stretched high and back held too stiff, his long straight robe seemed to give his slender body further length. But strangest was how he moved, in snaps and jerks, his head twitching back and forth as he spoke in a whisper to the guard.
“That’s not at all suspicious…” Veon-Zih muttered, taking his papers back from his own soldier and stepping out of the way of the line. Those who had gone before him had already disappeared into the port city, and those behind moved forward to take his place, passing the wagon to reach the free guard.
The driver had the unmistakable look of a merchant, with pouches lining his belt and his guild's badge displayed on his left breast. He should've crossed the straight to Clearhelm many times over as an apprentice before going solo. And yet, he'd stuttered nervously and deferred to his passenger, who was clearly
not of the Merchants Guild. Most likely a Mage based on his robe's lack of a religious emblem.
Veon-Zih narrowed his eyes at the strange man as he passed over his papers. The book was nearly as thick as his own, though it bulged with the thickness. Either the Mage hadn’t updated the cover despite the increased pages or…
Veon-Zih cleared his throat, getting the Paladin’s attention, and gestured with his chin towards the wagon. The Paladin looked him over for a moment, his brow furrowed, then glanced towards the wagon. He had no reason to trust Veon-Zih but Paladins were not ordinary soldiers. If there was reason to worry, Hengist would urge him to look for the signs.
The guard shifted his weight just enough to turn his back to the Paladin before opening the book. Veon-Zih sighed, watching the man move. He wasn’t just turning pages. His arm pulled too far back rather than to the side. Most likely slipping something into his coat. The Paladin might not have been able to see, but he'd already caught the scent that something wasn’t right here and started forward, placing his hand on the guard’s shoulder.
“Everything seems to be in order, Sir…” the guard had a superb poker face, a sure sign he'd taken bribes before. He handed the Mage back his papers and turned to wave the wagon on.
Veon-Zih stepped forward just as the Paladin held out his hand to stop the driver. “Headed for the Mages Guild, perhaps?” Veon-Zih asked curiously, trying to sound innocent.
The Mage twitched violently, turning stunning purple eyes on Veon-Zih, “Yes. Very important samples…” he spoke slowly, as if he needed to consider each word before saying them out loud.
“Then why not take a gate?” Veon-Zih chuckled, “I’ve been across this fine kingdom of Daanlan many times over, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wagon carrying Mage goods…” he tapped his own impressive book of papers against his leg, demonstrating his experiential authority on the matter. “What about you, Sir Knight?” he asked the Paladin, ceding control back to the Temple representative.
“Your papers,” the Paladin ordered, holding his hand out for the Mage's book. The Mage nearly vibrated with the speed of his twitching. The driver blanched but swallowed, keeping silent. Though it was
his wagon. The Mage handed over his papers again, but then the Paladin added an order to the soldier, “Open the crates.”
The Mage’s eyes bulged, as the soldier he'd bribed moved towards the cart. Veon-Zih and the Mage both stared as the guard climbed into the wagon, opening the nearest crate without removing it. He nodded at the contents then closed the crate again. He had definitely accepted smuggling bribes before.
“Hold, good man…” Veon-Zih called. The guard glared at Veon-Zih, and the Monk grinned.
If looks could kill… “Sir.” the guard said indignantly to the Paladin as though the knight should be offended that Veon-Zih had inserted himself into this business. The Paladin, however, just frowned, waving the man down and nodding to Veon-Zih. Something in the knight's gut insisted that the Monk was to be trusted, and Veon-Zih’s grin widened as he approached the wagon.
Digging past some bottles labeled "griffin blood", he found what was making the driver so nervous, “Scales… dragon scale.” a nearly impossible-to-find, and highly restricted, magical component. Their owners having gone extinct millennia ago.
The Paladin growled, “All of you will come with me. Now.” he snapped the papers closed, shoving them under his arm and turning on his heel towards the Temple.
The Mage hissed like a snake, his arms coming up and black fire shooting from his splayed fingers toward the Paladin’s back. Veon-Zih grabbed the side of the wagon, swinging around it and sliding along the ground, he kicked the Mage's feet out from under him. The Mage tumbled backward, his fire barely licking the Paladin’s blue cape before going out.
The Paladin turned, reaching for his sword, but the Mage had blinked, disappearing before he hit the ground and reappearing ten feet away. “Damn magic users…” Veon-Zih jumped to his feet as the Mage began to chant, his arms becoming wreathed in shadow.
The guard who had inspected Veon-Zih’s papers drew his short sword and started for the Mage. A good man. Stupid. But his heart was in the right place.
Tentacles sprouted from where the Mage’s arms had been, twitching and writhing with the same jerky movements of the man himself. Veon-Zih sprinted forward, trying to close the distance and distract from the guard.
The Mage attacked, sending one tentacle out to strike Veon-Zih, who ducked, throwing his arm up to deflect the living whip. It shouldn’t have hurt this much. Veon-Zih blocked the pain, rolling forward. He needed to get to striking distance before…
The guard screamed, flailing his sword and cutting right through the second tentacle. As if made of smoke, the tentacle broke and reformed behind the swing, smacking the guard solidly on the head. The guard’s helmet flew off, and he dropped to the ground, clutching the side of his face. The skin between his fingers was black and blistering with red pustules.
Veon-Zih reached the Mage, striking up at the man’s chest as he stood, smacking him with the palm of his hand and knocking the wind from his lungs and spell from his lips. Lifting his foot high into the air, Veon-Zih slammed his heel down on the Mage's shoulder, sending him crumbling to the ground.
The Mage hit the stone hard, some of the cobbles breaking loose and flying into the air. His tentacled arms continued to writhe, whipping back and forth behind Veon-Zih, attacking the prone guard again as if on their own.
The Mage laughed. Giggled like a young child, his head lolling to the side, eyes staring at nothing.
Veon-Zih was forced to dodge a tentacle again, this time careful not to touch it. His arm still stung where it had burned through his clothes to reach his skin. Veon-Zih gauged the power needed to knock the man out without killing him. The Temple would want to question him. His fist hadn’t yet hit when the Mage screamed and thrashed. Veon-Zih turned to see the Paladin, sword drawn and glowing with a brilliant blue-white light, standing between the Mage's tentacles and his fallen guard. On the ground at his feet, twitched the end of one tentacle before dissolving into smoke.
The second tentacle whipped forward, thrusting like a spike to stab the knight. But the Paladin calmly cut through it, channeling the divine power of Hengist through his sword to split the tentacle down the middle. The Mage screamed again, then went quiet as Veon-Zih bopped him soundly on the base of his skull.

Shaloon burst through the door to Morndancer’s private rooms. The magical door made of starry night slammed into the wall and rattled the mirror across the way. “Something’s
wrong.”
“Of course something is wrong,” Morndancer said absently, scratching the chin of the otherworldly pseudodragon draped over his wardrobe, “
The world is being reborn, and all we can do is watch
.”
“No.” she didn’t have time for his new nihilism, “Journeyman Karlo, we need to
find him.”
Morndancer, for once, didn’t argue. He moved to the mirror, placing one hand in the center and holding his other out to Shaloon. She fished in her robes, pulling out a small jar, and upended it into his palm. A piece of flesh flopped into the Archmage's palm, and he closed his fingers around it, chanting softly.
The image in the mirror wavered out from his fingers as if made of water, and when it calmed again, they saw two men on its surface. A Paladin and an old man in lowly peasant garb with a shaved head. “It’s
him…” Shaloon whispered.
Morndancer was more focused on the Paladin, “
He’s been captured. What do they know…”
The Paladin held his helm under his arm and seemed to be watching them as he surveyed Karlo. “That was like no arcane magic I’ve ever seen before, Master Veh-oan-Zith. What kind of Mage casts spells like that?”
The Monk’s lip twitched in the merest hint of a smile, but it disappeared a moment later when he covered his chin with his hand, stroking it in thought. “The Warlock kind good Sir…”
“That’s enough,” Shaloon said with a sigh. Morndancer nodded, opening his hand and holding the lump of flesh out to her. Her shoulders slumped for a moment, another researcher lost… She draped her fingers loosely over Karlo's flesh and, with a word, set it alight with black flame.
***
“A Warlock, Master Monk? In Clearhelm?” the Paladin sounded horrified. Veon-Zih wished the knight would try and say his name again, just to add a little bit of levity to the solemn moment.
“I’m afraid so. This will be the third time I've faced one, and their magic is not one you forget,” Veon-Zih answered.
The twitchy Warlock was restrained in the center of the room, eyes open but mind far away. It appalled the Paladin how easily the man had almost gotten away with smuggling into his province, doubly so now that he knew the nature of the man’s magic. “He will be questioned thoroughly. Would you like to be present when-”
The Warlock screamed, struggling against his bonds. The Paladin reached for his sword and Veon-Zih dropped into a fighting stance but both had to shield their eyes a moment later as the Warlock burst into black flames from the inside. His eyes shriveled and burned, the flames licking out the sockets and catching his hair alight as his mouth continued to scream forth black fire.
The Paladin recovered enough to begin chanting some kind of healing or disenchanting spell but not fast enough. In mere seconds, the Warlock’s arms fell free from their bonds as they dissolved into ash, followed a moment later by the rest of his body. Leaving only the scorched chair, loose chains, and a pile of ash where once the man had been.

“
We don’t know how much they learned,” Morndancer stated, turning accusing eyes on Shaloon.
Shaloon looked away, “They won’t
find us.”
“You’re right.” Morndancer turned his back on her, “
We are leaving. Make the arrangements.”
***
“They're still here then…” General Rasnah stood, looking out the window of her office towards the setting sun, clasping her wrists behind her back.
It had taken Veon-Zih a few weeks to reach Smilnda from the port city of Gehdran, though Rasnah had received the report of the Warlock incident much sooner, the same day in fact, through the Mages Guild mirrors. “Any new information?” Veon-Zih asked, moving to stand beside her. He'd returned to visit Shon in Hamerfoss, but would delay if necessary.
“No,” Rasnah sighed, “I've sent word to my counterparts in Oane and to the kingdom, we are trying to trace the man’s papers and cargo, but it will take time. They've covered their tracks well, probably have been for years.”
“At least thirty…” Veon-Zih muttered, turning away from the window and Rasnah. He took the seat in front of her desk with a road-weary sigh. “Why is it, my dear Rasnah, that you must tease me so?” he asked playfully.
Rasnah managed a laugh, “What?”
“Almost every time I come to Smilnda, something exciting seems to be brewing and then,” he snapped his fingers, “gone. We haven’t heard anything of these Warlocks for over five years, and just when I start to give up hope, bam, wyvern! I don’t suppose you killed it while I was away?”
Rasnah snorted another little laugh, finally turning away from the sunset and taking her seat behind her desk, “Please don’t remind me of the wyvern. It's been two years with no sightings, and Daunas still hasn’t stopped asking to hunt it with every report.”
“Does he want to avenge his father that badly?”
“How is it vengeance when Mung killed that one himself?”
“I wouldn’t think someone Daunas’s age would still be seeking glory…” Veon-Zih stroked his chin in thought, “He’s not much better than you 'retired' lot.”
Rasnah leaned back in her chair, lacing her fingers together, and finally gave him a real smile, “He works harder now than he ever did on the road. Us too, truth be told…”
“If you’re trying to convince me to join you again, you’re doing a very poor job of it,” Veon-Zih said, returning her smile. He didn’t want to return her mind to the serious issue at hand, but her’s wasn’t the only mind it was plaguing, “Now we have more Warlocks… possibly the same group. Are they going to disappear again? How many years before Smildna decides to dangle a true adventure under my nose once more?”
“Perhaps it’s a sign, my old, old... ooold friend. Perhaps these are adventures for the next generation.”
“Pah,” Veon-Zih waved that idea down as fast as he could, “I would rather not leave a mess for those coming behind. Besides, they aren’t ready.”
“They get closer every day, V. Don’t blink. As soon as you do, Shon will be Oath Sworn and off to hunt wyverns and Warlocks of his very own.”
Veon-Zih leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, “How’s he doing, Rasnah?” It had been a year and a half since Shon had transferred to Hamerfoss for training. Veon-Zih had tried to visit at least once a season, and the jumps in his skills seemed outstanding. Yet something still nagged at the back of Veon-Zih's mind. Was he still disappointed the boy hadn’t chosen the Monk path?
“You’re headed there next, see for yourself,” Rasnah answered shortly, though she also pulled a drawer open.
“Humor me,” Veon-Zih said, but she already was. She didn’t even have to look for the folder, showing him clearly she'd been ready for this very conversation. Before they'd been distracted by internally combusting Warlocks.
She didn’t pass over the file, such breaches of privacy were strictly against protocols, but she did leaf through it herself. “He gets top marks in combat, particularly with ambidextrous weapons and anything that requires finesse over brute strength. His lecture grades are also high, though he struggles with decorum and etiquette. His armor scores are honestly abysmal. Though I’m not sure the blame for that lies with him…” still facing the paper, she glared up at Veon-Zih with just her eyes.
“Well…” Veon-Zih rubbed the back of his neck under that accusatory stare, “He won’t have a problem if ambushed in the bath…”
That got another little snort of laughter out of the Paladin, who closed the file, “If you want anything more personal, you'll have to ask him yourself.”
Veon-Zih nodded. He just hoped Shon had made at least a few real friends since his last visit.
***
"How?" Veon-Zih gaped open-mouthed at Shon while the other Squires tried to stifle their snickers around him, “How did you get injuries from dancing?!”
Shon let go of his dance partner’s hands, and the boy stuck his fingers under his arms as if to warm them from a winter chill. Weary blue eyes turned to Veon-Zih for only a moment before Shon looked away, his cheeks pink. One cheek was bandaged with a thick square of cloth taped in place. His rolled-up sleeves showed the ends of more bandages on his right arm, and he flinched as he rubbed his ribs nervously. Were those hurt too?
“Well, Squire? Answer the man…” Daunas called from a bench against the wall of the fortress courtyard. The Weaponmaster leaned back, his hands laced behind his head, legs stretched out and crossed at the ankles. He maintained that dancing was for nobles and Paladins and wasn’t the one giving this lesson. Though he'd chosen to come watch regardless.
Shon mumbled something inaudible then turned away to resume dancing. His partner shook his hands out before reaching for Shon, but Daunus called out again, “What was that, Squire? Something about you taking hits on purpose?”
Shon’s eye twitched, and the boys around him tried to smother their laughter, “I won, didn't I?!” Shon called to the Weaponmaster, who snickered. The boys stopped laughing at that. They were the ones he was defeating.
The Paladin giving the dance lesson, gasped, “Squire, push-ups. Now.” Shon saluted sharply and dropped in place to perform the punishment for his rudeness. Daunas laughed louder. “The rest of you get back to work. One two, one two, leaders, don’t let your followers take control. They had their turn earlier…”
Veon-Zih made his way to Daunas’s bench, plopping heavily down on it, “The Cleric?” Veon-Zih asked the Weaponmaster, who was still smiling, though he had closed his eyes to take in the sun while it lasted. Autumn was right around the corner.
“We told him last week they weren’t going to heal anything he could've prevented himself.” Daunas explained, “Your boy has a nasty habit of taking a non-fatal hit if it means he gets the win. Which he always does. But it’s a bad habit.”
“Stubborn…” Veon-Zih muttered, watching Shon jump back to his feet to resume the dance lesson. His partner flinched at Shon's touch but started to dance without further complaint. The boys spun in well-timed circles, some stepping on feet, others pulling a little too hard, but mostly doing well. Shon had the steps down perfectly but looked stiff, like a golem going through programming. Not really feeling the music flowing from the open box beside the teacher still giving the count.
“He’s your boy." Daunas snorted out another laugh at Veon-Zih’s expense, "Sure he’s not a blood relation?” The Monk chose to ignore the insinuation and seeing he wasn’t going to get a reaction from Veon-Zih, Daunus continued, “He really is a great fighter, but he’ll need to be better with plate if he wants to keep taking hits like that.”
“You can hardly move in plate,” Veon-Zih argued, annoyed. Daunas just shrugged, so Veon-Zih leaned back with him, resting his back on the curtain wall’s cool stones, “How about everything else? Has he opened up at all?”
Daunas sighed, “In his own way. He doesn't -
not- get along with anyone, and the others seem to like him well enough. But he’s quiet that one, would rather watch and listen than participate during free time, and that's assuming he's not outside practicing! He’s started helping the ones that are falling behind in combat training. It works out. He hardly uses the time he gets off anyway, and before you accuse me of taking advantage, it was
his idea. I asked, and he said if they needed extra training, he might as well join them. But before you get too proud, their friendship outside the extra practice seems the same as all the others.”
So nothing had changed. Veon-Zih sighed, was there even a point in wanting Shon to make friends like a 'normal' boy? This was his normal, and if he was happy, then why encourage something different? "I suppose if it isn't harmful...
" Veon-Zih whispered.
The hour bell sounded, and the Paladin closed the music box, leaving the deep rings to fill the suddenly silent air as the Squires all snapped to attention. He waited until the last bell faded before calling “Dismissed!” Almost as one, the sixteen boys sagged in relief, laughing and joking with one another as they began their first hour of free time before dinner.
Veon-Zih pushed off the wall and started for Shon. The other Squires smiled and waved or saluted greetings towards him, and he smiled and nodded in response, his feet never wavering from their path.
“Damn Shon, I swear you’ve gotten colder…” Shon’s dance partner said with a smile, rubbing his hands together. Shon just shrugged, and the boy laughed, “See you at dinner then,” before he rushed off to join some of the others heading towards the fortress proper.
Shon turned, then, spotting Veon-Zih, looked away again. Reaching him, Veon-Zih crossed his arms and arched a questioning eyebrow, waiting for the young man to look up. Shon was almost as tall as Veon-Zih now, just a few more inches, and he would overshoot his Master. That didn’t stop him from sounding small as he muttered a soft “Sorry…”
“Are you really?” Veon-Zih asked, keeping his eyebrow up.
Shon looked up, a stubborn glint in his ice-blue eyes, “They never know what to do when a blow actually lands. It ends the fights fast.”
“So you end one fight, but what about the next? Or the one after that? How many little blows do you think you can take before you fall?” Veon-Zih didn’t yell, and Shon would've heard it all from Daunas already, but it was different coming from his Master. He ran his hand through his hair, cut regulation short so not at all in his face, looking truly ashamed for the first time.
“Sorry…”
Veon-Zih sighed, taking Shon by the shoulder, “Don’t be sorry, be better.” Shon just nodded, so Veon-Zih gave him a little shake and a smile, “What about life in general? Still enjoying the military?”
Shon’s smile was as small and subtle as ever, but to Veon-Zih, it lit up his face. Shon nodded, “It’s easy and organized. I wish the Church had been so structured. As long as everyone does what they're supposed to when they're supposed to, it’s perfect.”
Veon-Zih threw his head back and laughed. By the time he looked back down, Shon was staring at him, his eyebrow arched in question. “Shon… you were born to be a Paladin.” Veon-Zih answered.

BANG! My ears were ringing, my heart was threatening to jump out. I didn't know what was happening in the moment as I fell backwards with the momentum of something hard and heavy striking me in the chest. The sense of dread ran up my spine and down my tail as the I thought for a moment I had gone deaf.
I coughed and gagged as I felt the Predator move their hands from my ears. I felt one of its hands cling to my back while the other pats my chest. "H-hey! hey! you okay!?" he cried out as I groaned, this feeling. I don't think I'll ever forget it.
"
I-I'm okay, I'm okay" I squeaked as I recovered from the feeling in my chest.
"W-what happened?" "I think you held it too close and the recoil uh..." The Preda-.
Even. Scrunched his face up, for a second it looked like he was snarling... he must've recognized the fear on me because he swiftly covered his mouth up with a hand "I think the recoil basically gave you a rather... uncomfortable punch to the gut"
Trying to ignore the fear of seeing him snarl like that, I glanced downwards at the weapon in my hand. It felt surprisingly heavy. Though for someone like me. Was more awkward to hold than anything else... Kinetic weaponry was overturned for energy weapons, to save on resources for ammunition... I only fired a energy weapon once, and now. I understand why we swapped for them. This blasted contraption nearly broke my ribs!
"Well hey, at least you hit the bottle" Even pointed out, drawing my attention away from the gun in my paws. The shattered glass upon the ground where the bottle once stood invoked... something... in me.
I felt myself warm up a little inside. First time firing a Kinetic weapon, one made for PREDATORS. And wasn't even custom made for my size. And I hit the target... my ears fluttered, my tail swayed. I felt giddily as I pulled the gun back up into a small embrace. For as frightening this experience has been, I think I'm enjoying it a whole lot more than dealing with the Arxur.
... "So, shall we continue?" I asked, seeing that snarl on Even. even if it was hidden. Should've scared me again but... it felt... warm somehow.

Memory Transcript: Number 10059. Tilfish Cattle. Date: [standardized human time]: September 7, 2287 Today is my day. I'm getting chosen...
Why... why is the world so cruel? The Chief hunter won't stop staring at me through the screen as the transport driver communicates with them. The others in the cage aren't moving... Maybe they're dead, maybe they are just trying to fake it... or maybe they are just asleep... I don't even know if I care.
I've been a breeder for a while, seems I've outlived my use to the predators... I couldn't sleep, so I simply watched and prayed it'll be swift when we get there.
Everything shakes, many of the other cattle cry out in confusion. The Arxur transport driver shouted at us to keep quiet as he shifts through his controls... What was happening? We can't already be there.
Another shake. Things are getting dizzy as something strikes the ship hard. The Arxur reaches for their weapon as the doors open. I watch in silence as fire bathed him. A number of figures stepped from the door. Was this... what is this?
"We're getting you all out of here!" The lead of the strange bunch shouts through their mask as they move to the cages. Was this rea-
! BANG! I sat up fast, as if the Arxur cattlemaster was waking me himself. I heaved and panted as I looked around the strange environment... where was the ship? This... am I on a planet!?
BANG, BANG! I jumped at the noise, glancing around, I groaned as I clambered out of my be-... this isn't a bed. This is a table? Why was I-
Later.
I spot some odd shaped machine in the corner of the room, seemingly deactivated. Scurrying to the stairs, I began descending. the stairway, trying to collect myself. My body felt as if it was against every action I took as I rounded the corner at the final step. What I saw would've made me scream... if I wasn't me.
A hulking machine stood in the center of the room. I could feel heat radiate off of it as it stares off to who knows where. Keeping an eye and an antenna on it. I stepped through a hole in the wall. My hand ideally feeling at the cracks in my exoskele-that isn't my.
Looking down, I see what covered my wounds. Bandages? How interesting. The Arxur never bandage u-
Another
BANG took my attention, Looking towards my right. I saw a unfamiliar figure and a... Venlil pup?... shooting something.
I sneak over, trying to understand what I'm seeing as the unknown creature praised the little pups' accuracy "You'll be protecting yourself in no time!" it cried out in a guttural voice... I'm ever thankful the Arxur never took my implants out. If I had gotten to where they were taking me, this would've been very diff-"Oh, wait. Taxxik. Look who's awake" The figure says as it turned to face me... those eyes.
P r e d a t o r. "H-hey, you alright? You shouldn't be up by yourself! how long have you just been standing there!?" The pup whined as it handed the Predator the weapon it was using. I mimic fear the best I could as I gestured with a shaking claw towards the towering beast.
"I-I know, I know. It's okay, he's fine." The pup tries to console me as he pats my arm and tries to stay between my vision and the Predator, tough luck for someone so small.
"He... well, saved us. We're safe here" the pup... said those words with uncertainty but clearly seemed trusting of the Predator. How interesting. Predator Disease? Perhaps I won't have to...
"
W-where" I stuttered my speech to match the faux fear. "Where are we?" *"*We are on earth... where we are specifically, I can't quite say. Not a lot of signage left out here" The Predator exclaimed as the Pup nervously holds my arm as I raised my head to better watch the meat eater who towered over us. "Somewhere between what remains of New York, and the Pitt - at least, according to my maps"
"
I... don't understand..." I reached to clean an antenna as the pup patted on the arm he was still clinging to. "Ssh, don't worry. I don't understand much either... b-but uh. It's okay!" the pup exclaimed as I shifted my head to better look at the small Venlil "They aren't like the Arxur, farthest thing from them if Even here is anything to go by!"
I spot this... Even... fidget at those words... he either lied to the pup, or didn't tell them something... I do not like this.
"They even have their own Exterminators" the pups' whisper dragged my attention back to him. "Even is a uh.. Minute man." the Pup paused to pronounce the words right, seeing Even nodding seemed to have confirmed the words the pup was using. "They're just like exterminators, just... trust me on this, okay. We're safe with Even" I watch the pup in uncertainty as they proclaimed this information.
Predators with Exterminators, such a idiotic idea... however... if there is to be believed, is the fact Even hasn't eaten us yet... considering I'm not in a ship, I've must have been out for a while. Leaving this pup to fend for themself. Why he was here, only Protector knows.
If humans like...
E v e n. Were anything similar to the Arxur, they'd have eaten us by now, or left us for dead somewhere... unless he is planning on invading our homes. I don't see why he would do such things as wrap our wounds up and tend to me while I was unconscious.
Such a peculiar creature.
"So-" Even spoke "-You uh... got a name?" I studied its face for a moment, before looking to the ground as I searched through my memories... name... when was my name used? "I... do not remember" I answered as I felt at my head. How long have I been cattle for?
"Well... anything we can call you till then?" "Just... call me Til.. u-until I remember my name again."
"Alright then Til... I know you just woke up but... well, the sun is going down so... you're gonna have to go back to sleep." The Predator walks past me and the pup "Come on you two, I'll get the sleeping bags ready" it exclaimed as it entered the building...
What a truly, peculiar specimen.
"Here, you must be starving." the predator stated as we followed him into the building, handing me a odd... plant?
Hesitantly, I go to bite the questionable plant.
So sweet. So delightfully sweet. "Wh-t iz thz?" I asked as I began to scarf down this delightful bit of food. Barely taking a pause to speak "That would be Mutfruit" The pup answered for the Predator as I enjoyed this wondrous Mutfruit
So much better than the kibble we were fed!...
Such sweetness. I must have more. ------------
Heeeeeyy, The Tilfish woke up! Truth be told, I was half planning on having her succumb to her wounds during target practice.Anywho, another short-ish chapter. Feel free to share thoughts in the comments. All together, this chapter is about the Tilfish waking up.

2023.06.03 04:19 eyegoobies New to Souls, not to gaming: Beginner tips to help me on a self-guided track?
Late to the party, I know, but I’ve just jumped into Elden Ring and I feel very lost.
For context: lifelong gamer, really love rogue-lites, open world, strategy-based combat and self-guided RPGs. Always up for a challenge.
I’ve been running around eliminating enemies for runes > levelling up better gear from merchants where I can find it, but not sure if I’m “playing” in a way that is meant to be fun. I feel like I’m in a walking/horseriding simulator at the moment.
Game stats 5hrs in: Confessor, Golden Seed. Currently Level 13, with upgraded Vigor. Since obtaining Torrent I’ve just been running around killing stuff for runes.
I know the general consensus with Souls games is to explore, get your ass kicked, learn, repeat. I’ve never played a Souls game until now though, and don’t want to give up 5hrs in because I’m overwhelmed, lost and maybe a bit bored? I feel like there’s something I’m missing.
I’d love some guidance/tips/tricks so that I can feel more comfortable on this journey. What are the key things I should know? Best places to do/things to see so that I’m well-equipped to actually feel like I’m playing/achieving?
As spoiler-free as possible would be awesome. TIA!

2023.06.03 03:51 Limilnalatte RTX 3060 , RTX 4070, RTX 4060ti 16GB? for a Productivity/Streaming/Gamming Build in 2023
Now that my 4 year old HP Pavilion Ryzen 5 3500U CPU and Vega 8 Graphics laptop is starting to fall apart, I am currently picking the parts for my first pc build for productivity/streaming/gaming. However, I am having trouble choosing which GPU to buy. I have researched the best I could, but the many online debates between team red and team green and the discussions of NVIDIA's overpriced GPUs has left me unsure about my GPU choice.
Here is the build that I have in mind:

I am making a build that is primarily orientated for productivity purposes while being able to live stream some of the games I play. In terms of productivity, the relevant benchmarks I primarily use are Blender, Adobe Premier Pro, Photoshop and Illustrate (note: Davinci Resolve has recently piqued my interest so I have tried adjusting my parts to fit the needed system requirements in case I do install it). Gaming wise, I want to be able to livestream the games I play in high or ultra 1080p. In the list, the BenQ Mobiuz EX2510S is a used one which I already bought from a friend who recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor. Most of the games I play are fighting games like Guilty Gear Strive and Granblue Fantasy Versus, games like Warframe and the Monster Hunter series and indie games that do not require much from my 4 year old Hp Pavilion with a Ryzen 5 3500U CPU and Vega 8 Graphics. However, since I'm building a new pc, I do want to be able to both stream and play the more beefier benchmark games like God of War, Elden Ring and also the upcoming Armored Core 6 on 1080p High-Ultra settings. I don't care about Ray Tracing, I just want to experience smooth gameplay without having to reduce the game's resolution and without picking the lowest graphics settings.
From what I understand about the two main GPU companies, NVIDIA cards are better for productivity and have better encoding for streaming while AMD cards offer better gaming experience at a better price. The RTX 4070 was picked in my list for its performance and the fact that it is a NVIDIA card suitable for productivity/streaming/gaming. However, the 4070 goes for $800 CAD while only having 12GB RAM (but then again, it is considered to be the best performance value among NVIDIA's 40s series cards). On AMD's side, many online have recommended the 6800xt over the 4070 for its 16GB RAM while being within a similar price range. Some have also mentioned that AMD's encoding is starting to get better, but I do not know if this information is credible. But, the consensus online is that since I am making build focusing on productivity, NVIDIA seems to be the better graphics card choice.
However, as mentioned before, the 4070's price has got me considering buying the RTX 3060 instead. While the 4070 does perform way better then the 3060, the latter is more budget friendly and prices at $450 CAD, has 12GB RAM like the 4070 and is recommended by many as a good performance/value for 1080p, which seems to be a good fit for my Mobiuz EX2510S. I have also seen on the Canadian Newegg store that the MSI 3060s are going through a price drop which makes it even more appealing than the 4070:
https://www.newegg.ca/p/pl?d=3060 . I also saw the news of NVIDIA releasing a 4060ti 16GB in July, but after seeing the failure of the recent 8GB variant and the backlash online, I don't even know if the 16GB 4060ti should even be considered as a choice. While I do plan on upgrading to a 1440p setup, I don't think that will be happening in the near future.
TL;DR, the 3060 is slowly convincing me to be my final GPU choice for my productivity/streaming/gaming PC build due to its pricing and overall positive 1080p performance among users online. My concerns are: is the 3060 is still viable for productivity/streaming/gaming in 2023? or should I just straight up buy the 4070 for its recency and better performance? Or should I pick a god and pray for the 4060ti 16GB success? Or should I consider buying a AMD card or even Intel's affordable A770 with 16GB RAM?
Thank you all in advance for the feedback, and take care o7.

2023.06.03 03:28 pacman404 I know that 5 big hearty radishes are the best meal for extra hearts (25), but what's the best meal for stamina yellow rings?
Also I'm looking for good recipes just to refill stamina as well, not just the yellow bars. I've been using restless crickets since the beginning of the game, but they aren't really cutting it anymore

2023.06.03 03:00 BabyBunnBunn98 24 [F4M] Usa, Jacksonville, Florida little one looking for a gentle daddy dom (local only 21 to 35)
About me Physical Attributes: Height- 5'6 Weight- 179 Eyes- brown Hair- black
NOT LOOKING FOR HOOKUPS, SEXUAL ONLINE FUN OR THE LIKE. UNSOLICITED NUDES WILL GET YOI BLOCKED AND REPORTED.
Big me
I'm going to try my best to describe myself when I'm not in little space. I love to watch YouTube people like (Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, and other YouTubers like them. I love video games, I grew up with a Gamecube and Gameboy Color. I also play World of Warcraft (for the horde). I have steam on PC with tons of games.
I am a huge animal lover. If it's cute and especially fluffy, I will pet it and hug it. I love wildlife. I have six cats and one dog. I am the daughter of the cat lady who had twenty plus cats because people dropped them off at our house. They lived outside, but we loved them with all our heart. I owned two bunnies.
When in new places with people I don't know, I don't like crowds, my anxiety goes up and I start, I suppose ticking I'm unsure if it's the right word, I get nervous, can't speak well, I wear a special necklace (brothers dog tags with my moms ring) I tend to play with the tags to keep me calm. I have other comfort items, too. I tend to get overwhelmed easily.
I'm normally shy, goofy as can be, I'm clingy, kind-hearted cuddly, sweet, and clever. I tend to keep to myself. I also have depression that has gotten really bad in the past. The scars show me where I have been but not where I'm going.
I have an interest in many things such as crafting, building, exploring, and learning. I do crochet with yarn or loom. Fishing. Will try most things once. I have a violin. (I don't know how to play) i want to learn how to play instruments like piano and guitar. I love to read fanfiction, mostly naughty. The goal of mine is to lose weight, im really thick, and i dont like it.
My music is mostly metal to classical, dubstep, chillstep, and nightcore. Bmth, now 21 pilots are my favorite.
Little me
I love goldfish crackers, animal crackers, all kinds of fruit and veggies. Chicken nuggets, of course. I have a stuffie collection that I love so much, I must cuddle with my bear while I sleep, or I become bratty and whiny. Sippy cups are awesome, I own a few. Coloring is my favorite past time, helps keep the mind clear. I'm clingy as hell, I will bug you mostly wanting something (but would be worried that you find me annoying low self-esteem)
I like to dress up, I don't have much little clothing, I like to wear big T-shirts and panties. (Especially when it's 90°F outside) Bubble baths and rubber duckies. When winter comes, I become Linus and carry a blankie around. (Habit from my brother wrapping himself up even in summer, so I do, too)
I would love my daddy with all my heart, I love rules, routine (helps with anxiety because I know what to expect) I love to be his stuffie, I want to show him so much love, I want to help him after work.
I can be wild and a loon, extra goofy when sleepy. I will most likely behave, but I love punishments. I need guidance to be more into little space and being a little. My little side can slip out anytime and say hewllo.
Naughty
Mmm, yes, the fun stuff. I kinky as can be. Chains, whips, and spanking just all of it can get me going. I love wearing butt plugs with a tail ( I don't own any right now). I do own a strap on and many toys.
I want to please my daddy in all ways. All holes are open to him and only him. (Fantasy of him letting his friends play with me) being pinned down, rough deep fucking with a hand on my throat, making me look into his eyes, nonstop fucking until I cum over and over if I have the permission of course, to sweet slow fucking, until I become a mess of a puddle underneath him. This baby girl does swallow and begs for her daddy.
The ceremony of being collared by him after sweet, sweet love is what I desire to be happy when the time comes.
And the rest is what Daddy only knows....
About you
My idea is that daddy is 21 to 35 years old. Must be local or willing to travel to see me often (Must be in Florida) (No car) my preference is white guys that are tall than (5'6) I like to look at my daddy dom with puppy eyes. A fit and active lifestyle would be great since I am not and would like to help to lose weight and etc. Gaming, anime, and other common interests would be a plus. I want a kind but strict daddy dom that can discipline me to have a more healthy lifestyle and a routine. I don't want to waste anyones time. No kids, I don't want any, no 420, I don't drink because of meds and no smoking. So if you do, that's fine. Just don't be beyond drunk.
I do have a bad past with bad doms, so it's a bit difficult to trust someone again. im scared to love another, and I heard all those sweet words before turning into daggers into my heart. But if you have an interest in me, I do have snap for verification, I do voice and video chats. I'm very clingy and needy

2023.06.03 03:00 04Fedor Firestorm 120: Book the first edition of a new AEW tournament
| Prelude CM Punk returns for the launch of Collision as expected and from the start of Collision to the beginning of this booking he does not interact with MJF or the elite at all. He doesn't even go on dynamite. Instead, he rekindles his feud with Samoa Joe and is still unable to defeat The Samoan Submission Machine. Wednesday November 8th Dynamite On the previous week's dynamite it is hyped that Tony Khan has an absolutely massive statement to make. He announces that there will be a one time only Pay Per View to take place on December 31st called AEW: Endgame. He talks about how MJF is holding the AEW World Championship hostage with his contract running down. He announces a tournament to take place culminating on the winter is coming episode of Dynamite where the winner will challenge MJF at endgame. The segment comes to an end as the bracket is flashed on the screen. Bracket Saturday November 11th Collision To kick off the tournament we see a close match between Samoa Joe and Malakai Black. Most of the match is striking based between the two. However in the end it is Joe that is able to nail a massive muscle buster on Black to put him away. Wednesday November 15th Dynamite It is on dynamite that we see an absolute WAR between Miro and Keith Lee. The two bring out the best in each other and after 12 minutes of pure brutality Lee is unable to life Miro up for the spirit bomb and the Game Over seals his fate. Saturday November 18th Collision In an absolutely massive episode of Collision we see two first round matchups on the same show. The first is Bryan Danielson vs Eddie Kingston. Throughout the match we see Danielson consistently fighting from behind which should get him more of a face reaction as he is being built back up. In a callback to their classic in 2021 we see Danielson once again have Kingston stuck in a triangle choke only for Kingston to pick him up and slam him to the mat. This however is not enough as Danielson eventually comes out on top with 2 running knees in succession to get the three count. Later in the night we see CM Punk take on Andrade el Idolo. In a surprisingly one sided match Punk is able to neutralize the offense of Andrade and he gets the win with a GTS. Wednesday November 22nd Dynamite The first tournament matchup of the night is between Roderick Strong and Adam Page. In a reverse of their first matchup a decade prior, Page is the favorite while Strong is the one who is trying to make a run up the card. This time however, Page will not be denied and he is able to dispatch Strong with a Buckshot lariat to advance. The second matchup of the night is in the main event and it is another chapter of the Moxley/Omega saga(their first matchup since the cage match months ago). This time Omega is the one that comes out on top after he nails Moxley with a One Winged Angel. Saturday November 25th Collision Adam Cole and Pac main event the show and the two go all out. At the end of the match Pac misses the Black Arrow and Cole capitalizes with a german and he finally finishes the match with the Panama Sunrise. Wednesday November 29th Dynamite Here we see a match between Claudio Castagnoli and Darby Allin. A hungry Darby comes out with something to prove in an attempt to get even with MJF. Despite controlling most of the contest he still falls short to the brutal offense that is displayed by Claudio. Updated Bracket Saturday December 2nd Collision To kick off the second round we see a match between Danielson and Miro. This match closes the show and gets 30 minutes. To start the match, Miro unleashes his mighty power, violently shoving Bryan down multiple times, electrifying the crowd with each forceful blow. But Bryan refuses to back down, retaliating with lightning-fast strikes of his own. But when it seems like a comeback is possible, Miro launches a devastating knee strike that sends Bryan hurtling out of the ring. Showing his resilience, Bryan recovers and launches a barrage of thunderous kicks to Miro's body. Miro charges forward, but Bryan expertly counters with a waistlock. However, Miro's sheer strength propels him out of the hold, executing a bone-crushing running shoulder tackle. Bryan refuses to be defeated, sprinting off the ropes and delivering a jaw-dropping clothesline followed by a breathtaking dropkick that sends Miro sprawling out of the ring. Bryan's determination pushes him to the edge as he prepares for a daring suicide dive, but Miro snatches him out of midair. With incredible force, Miro executes a release belly-to-belly suplex on the unforgiving floor. The crowd is in awe as Miro ruthlessly hurls Bryan into the solid steel steps. Miro follows up with not one, but two thunderous suplexes, sending shockwaves through the arena. Miro seizes control, applying a dominating chinlock for what seems like an eternity. With the turnbuckle as his weapon, Miro mercilessly whips Bryan into it, shaking the entire ring. However, Bryan refuses to be defeated, summoning his last reserves of strength to deliver consecutive running dropkicks. Yet, Miro proves his resilience, responding with a brutal Samoan Drop, leaving the crowd on the edge of their seats. Miro showboats to the crowd which gives Bryan an opening. Unleashing a flurry of ferocious kicks to Miro's chest, Bryan momentarily gains the upper hand. But Miro, unbowed, catches him in his grip, only for Bryan to ingeniously counter into a lightning-fast kneebar submission. Miro teeters on the edge of defeat, almost succumbing to Bryan's relentless assault. But Miro is able to summon his inner strength, powering out of the submission and delivering a gutwrench suplex. As the crowd erupts, Miro follows up with a jaw-dropping release German Suplex. In a breathtaking display of athleticism, Bryan counters a second Miro suplex attempt, landing gracefully on his feet and he delivers a roundhouse kick to Miro's head. Bryan relentlessly pummels Miro with a barrage of knee strikes to the head, stomping with unyielding fury. The crowd is on its feet, chanting in sheer admiration as Bryan attempts his signature running knee strike, only to be caught mid-air by Miro, who executes a bone-rattling Powerbomb. Miro, overcome with emotion, points skyward, seemingly communing with his divine power. His fervor reaches its peak as he locks in the fearsome Game Over submission. Bryan, however, refuses to surrender, summoning every ounce of fight in his body to crawl towards the bottom rope. Undeterred, Miro savagely stomps on Bryan's back, determined to enforce his dominance. Once again, he applies the Game Over submission, but Bryan summons his remaining strength, rolling over and trapping Miro in the LeBell Lock, targeting his left arm and head. Miro fights back with a furious onslaught of punches. Bryan refuses to relent, transitioning seamlessly into the same triangle that gave Eddie Kingston problems, delivering thunderous elbows to Miro's head. The intensity reaches a fever pitch, but Miro resorts to desperate measures, using eye-gouging tactics to break free. Undeterred, Bryan retaliates with punishing kicks to Miro's body, but the Bulgarian Brute absorbs the blows and counters with a ruthless kick to Bryan's ribs. The two warriors ascend the turnbuckle, and in a breathtaking display of agility, Bryan executes a heart-stopping DDT off the top rope As the crowd erupts in a frenzy of anticipation, Bryan seizes the moment, poised to deliver the final blow. With a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins, he unleashes a running knee with unmatched precision, colliding with Miro's skull. The impact is thunderous, and the Bulgarian Brute crumples to the canvas. The referee dives into action, sliding into position to administer the three-count. The entire arena holds its breath as the referee's hand strikes the mat once... twice... and with a deafening roar, the final count echoes throughout the arena. Danielson is overjoyed with his victory and he cuts a promo after the match which redeems him in the eyes of the fans. Wednesday December 6th Dynamite It is here that we see Adam Page and Kenny Omega go to battle once again. All the tension that they tried to put to the side resurfaces. As the deafening cheers of the crowd fill the arena, anticipation hangs heavy in the air. Both men, having shared a tumultuous history, find themselves standing on the precipice of an opportunity that could alter the course of their careers. As the bell tolls, a moment of hesitation lingers between Page and Omega. Their eyes meet, conveying the unspoken bond they once shared, as well as the lingering memories of their past battles. Their admiration for one another tempered by the overwhelming desire to claim victory and secure a shot at MJF. Both of them wanting be AEW's hero. The match begins with a cautious approach, each wrestler studying the other's movements, searching for a weakness to exploit. Page, with his cowboy spirit, displays his trademark agility and strength, executing flawless suplexes and lightning-fast strikes. Omega, the virtuoso of the squared circle, responds with masterful counters and breathtaking high-flying maneuvers, leaving the audience in awe. As the match progresses, the hesitation slowly fades away, replaced by an intense competitive fire that burns within both men. Page's determination to prove himself worthy of the championship opportunity pushes him to new heights, delivering awe-inspiring dives from the top rope and bone-crushing power moves that send shockwaves through the ring. Omega, showing a side of him that we have not seen since Full Gear, demonstrates why he is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of this generation. With his signature V-Triggers and mind-bending submission holds, he takes control of the match, methodically wearing down Page. The crowd's emotions surge as they witness the clash of these titans, torn between their admiration for Page's underdog spirit and their respect for Omega's undeniable skill. In a heart-wrenching moment, Page summons his last ounce of strength, refusing to succumb to defeat. With a surge of adrenaline, he unleashes a flurry of hard-hitting strikes, stunning Omega and igniting a glimmer of hope within the crowd. But Omega, driven by his insatiable thirst for victory, fights back with unyielding ferocity, displaying his arsenal of devastating maneuvers that have made him a force to be reckoned with. As the final moments of the match approach, both competitors are pushed to their physical and emotional limits. The crowd, fully invested in the narrative unfolding before them, erupts with fervor, their cheers echoing throughout the arena. In a moment of sheer brilliance, Omega executes the One-Winged Angel and he pins Page to the canvas for the three-count. The sound of the bell signals Omega's triumph, and the crowd rises to their feet in a mixture of admiration and bittersweet emotions. Page, though defeated, is given a standing ovation for his incredible effort, his heart and determination shining through the loss. Omega, a mix of relief and satisfaction, stands tall as the victor, knowing that he must be the one to dethrone MJF. 2023.06.03 02:42 DietrichVanMeier 23 M Europe - History and Literature Enthusiast
Hi. I'm looking to talk to new people, maybe make a friend
They are:
History, especially the 19th-20th century but with more broad and general knowedge in other time periods. I'm not an expert or anything but I am pretty passionate about it and tend to read/listen about one event or the other on a pretty regular basis.
Literature, especially old novels. I recently read Demian (my all time favourite book), Day of the Oprichnik, Heart of Darkness, the Perfume and Little Prince. Currently started reading Blood Meridian. Some of my other favourite works would include: "The Picture of Dorian Gray", "Faust part I" (need to get to part II) and "No Longer Human". I also like to write short stories and book reviews.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I'm currently working to scrape off the rust and then when I'm finished with that will begin to learn a fourth language. It's fun to go through different works in multiple languages. For example, I read the aforementioned Faust part I in all three.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad! The main questline at least, Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and will try out Deus Ex Manking Divided again ( Got inspired since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk). I was waiting to play Elden Ring but it ended being too stressful for me. Go here and get beaten up go there and get beaten up, repeat...Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games...like EU IV and HoI IV (also thinking of making my own project for HoI IV). I am definitely looking forward to try out Victoria III, after they add more content to it. I also got Modern Warfare 2, since the first MW had great multiplayer gameplay.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good new season of Bleach. Some other favourites include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass , Higurashi (season 2 is a bit weak but the first one is a masterpiece of horror), Code Geass, Attack on Titan and others. My favourite Manga is Berserk...I hope it gets a good ending..the first couple of new chapters were...a bit rough but the new author seems to have got his footing.
Anyway, that should be enough information to give you a good picture... Before I go, I would like to ask for you to include the title of the last book you read in your reply. A small request, I feel. I'll be ignoring those that don't.

I'd also really like to read the same book with someone and discuss it. For reference my next book will probably be Oliver Twist
2023.06.03 02:33 Moony_Moonzzi I feel a bit overwhelmed
Ok so
I first started playing this game a while ago, and then I stopped because I was stuck, and then I went and played Bloodborne, had kind of that “I Get It Now.” Moment, and started to look into other souls games, and went back to playing Elden Ring thinking like we’ll probably im gonna have a much easier time now.
And yeahh I do have an easier time, I’m much more advanced than I was before…But I cannot shake off this feeling of being like very overwhelmed? Like, oh the internet says this build interesting cool, but I keep exploring and finding all this cool stuff how should I take advantage of this? Oh I need to level my weapon so I can become string but what if I regret spending the resources? Oh there’s this questione but what if I miss the next step and forget about it because there’s nothing keeping track of it? When am I supposed to look into changing my starting armor? When should I change my weapons? When should I know if I keep dying to something because actually I’m supposed to explore more before I beat that or actually I just need to get good?
Everyone talks about weapons and armor and spells and ashes of war and buttons and combos and stats and I feel like the more I try to understand the more confused I am.
Every time I’m like, feeling like I’m in the correct track it feels so satisfying, but I’m also constantly afraid that I’m leveling the wrong stats, using the wrong thing, ignoring something important. I can’t really relax while playing cuz I’m tense all the time.
Again when I’m getting it going I have so much fun and since starting to look into FromSoft games I feel like I found a “genre” of thing that when I understood I really really enjoyed it! But I never passed that initial feeling of confusion with Elden Ring, and I really want to know what can I do to help with that.

2023.06.03 02:30 Low_Example1345 I decided to be the bigger person.
Okay. So I have posted before on this account and another account that I lost the password to. But here is a small recap:
My MIL had a falling out about my husband and I not using cloth diapers (I don’t have the stomach nor do we have access to a washing machine regularly) she cussed me out. Told my husband that the baby isn’t his and blocked us both. She then unblocked us but I blocked her and refused to talk to her until she apologized to my personally. That was at the beginning of this year.
She finally decided to throw away her ego and text me (I only blocked her on messenger and Facebook which she will remain to be blocked. My number I didn’t block)
This is how it’s going so far:
MIL: Hi OP it's OP’s husband mom I wanted to apologize for the confrontation we had it was never my intention for that too happen I hope you forgive me and allow me to be apart of my grandbaby life
Me: The cloth diapers I don't really care about. It was the fact you think so lowly of me to say the baby isn't even Hubnads's. I have done nothing but try to be respectful for towards you and that's what you think of me. All I did was defend myself during our lost talk and give the same energy you gave me, I am not going to bow down and let someone treat me like that. I wouldnt even let my own mother treat me like that. I know that you don't like that I married him so young but I wouldn't have married him if I didn't love him. I would never get knocked up with some other man's kid and try to pass it as huband's. I'm not that shallow of a person and Husband is too good to be treated that way. You don't even think the baby is his. I have boundaries and I don't let people cross them. You have crossed very many of them. For husbands sake I will be hospitable but that really hurt that you think of me like that.
MIL: Am sorry if I made you feel that way I don't think of you that way it was just weird that it happened so fast I do apologize for making you feel like I don't like u or care about your feelings you are apart of my family and I never said I don't like that u guys married so young an happy that u guys love each other I just didn't like that I didn't know right away but trust me I do understand how I made u feel and that was not my intent
Me: We can work on building a better relationship. But I will stand up for myself no matter the person. I have healthy boundaries that I expect people to respect. I will not be walked over or have someone imply that my child isn't Husbands. I had to fight to marry him and still fight to be accepted. I fought society and all the southern hillbilly racists in my family that threatened to disown me, I lost the little bit of a relationship I had with my father to get to call Husband my husband. why would I throw that all away for a one night stand. I cut out so many people in my life and left everything behind all because I loved him, why would I ever fuck another man and then try to play it off as Husband's. You still said that you think the child isnt Edward's. We all say things we don't mean when angry but there is no going back from that. I may forgive but I will not forget. I worked hard to get here. I was an awful teenager but I fixed myself so Husband has a wife he deserves i still have a bit to go but I would never do that to him.
But I do appreciate you took the step to apologize and I hope we can try to move forward and respect each others boundaries so we can all have a healthy relationship and our child can have a third grandmother in their life.
Context for my texts: husband is black, I am white, I am from Louisiana. My family had a heart attack simultaneously when they found out that the boy I was talking about for years was gasp a black man. My dad said I was dead to him and hadn’t talked to him since. My husband and I “met” when I was 15. We met online. I was awful and insane back then. (I was almost diagnosed with clinical insanity one hospital visit) he lived in OH I lived in NC. We were on and off because I was so unstable. I did kiss a girl while we were on one time when I was hospitalized. Immediately told him and broke it off so I could explore that side of me. He told his family they now deem me as the whore. I got stable I realized how awful I had been and went on the path to recovery. This saint of a man decided to forgive me and we worked on building us again. He joined the army. And yk the stereotypes, we got married as soon as he got out of AIT. I was 17. But my home life and him getting deployed we decided to rush it and asked my moms for permission. They said yes. We got married had a small ceremony with my family. We sent the wedding photos to his mom. Him and I showing off our rings and certificate. He told her over call (she doesn’t like white people so we didn’t tell her before hand because we didn’t want anymore drama) she swears to this day we didn’t do that. She also doesn’t like the fact my mom is a lesbian.
Anyways my MIL still hasn’t mentioned the fact she called me a whore. I hold a grudge like no other and I will not be letting her forget this. She also doesn’t get a cute grandma name. Nana, Nona, memaw, mawmaw, and Mimi are already taken. On the hunt for an ugly grandma name. She may just get grandmother. She may just get her name. She has already called the baby a bastard child and half breed during that big fight so why should she get grandmother title?
So the texts where copied and pasted and are word for word besides actual names. I tried my best to be respectful but firm how did I do? I don’t care how old someone is or how they are related to me I don’t take shit from anyone. I will throw it right back at them and I don’t care if that makes me a bitch. I am nice until you think you can walk over me. But sadly she is going to be in our life. She apologized so I tried to be nice. Did I do okay? Should I go ahead and lay out my boundaries for her? What should my boundaries be? I have already decided no visitors until further notice. But besides that I am awful at setting boundaries. I was never allowed to have them so I am trying to take back my control.

2023.06.03 02:16 ponoichi Win10 computer locking up or stuttering at random intervals.
I've been having a significant issue with my Win10 computer for a while. It hangs for a second or two rather consistently. It doesn't seem to be related to TOTAL load at all as far as I can tell, but it does seem to happen more often when playing games, particularly when a new visual effect is played. For example, if I was playing Elden Ring and my co-op partner casts a spell that I haven't cast before my entire computer will freeze for 1-3s and when it unfreezes, depending on the game, it will either jump forward or play the events in super fast forward to catch up. Also, if I have a messenger open in my browser where someone sends me a photo my cursor will lock up as it loads the image. This happens in Chrome and Opera. It has become very frustrating because it happens all the time with no real pattern and even if I'm not playing games, like just casually browsing the internet, it will still freeze for a second or two and I can't move my cursor or anything until it unfreezes.
I don't know if this is related because when it freezes like this the audio of whatever I'm listening to/playing doesn't stutter but sometimes when playing games the BGM will pause for a few seconds and then resume even though the gameplay is smooth.
I've already tried updating drivers, doing a memtest, checking the health of my storage drives, and a few other things too. Really strapped for ideas at this point.

It should have been the happiest day of our lives. Esther and I were to be wed in the middle of August after a month’s long courtship. The plans had been made, the feast was being prepared and I was a nervous wreck. How could I not be?
We formally met last fall at the harvest festival, though we’d been aware of each other our whole lives. In a small town like Sprucevale, Ohio, everybody knew everybody.
Her father didn’t like me, which I suppose is common for those who have daughters who fall in love. Her mother was too busy taking care of the younger children in the family to pay any mind to what her eldest child was doing with her life.
When I wasn’t working on my family's farm, I would walk over to see Esther. She was always smiling, and usually surprised to see me, especially when the snow was blowing and most folk elected to stay indoors close to a fire. The more time I spent with her, the more I knew she was the one for me.
As the ground thawed and the flowers began to bloom, I started working up the courage to ask her father for her hand. I’ll never forget the day I decided to do it. I rode over to their house, wearing my Sunday best and ready to do whatever it took to get his blessing. My bravery quickly faded, however, when I walked into the barn and saw him standing near his horse with a rifle.
It turned out, he was getting ready to go hunting and he invited me along. I knew I couldn’t say no, even if I wasn’t properly dressed for the occasion. As we rode out, he asked me if I had come over to see his daughter again. Stumbling over my words, I told him that I had, in fact, come to see him. When he didn’t say anything in return, I carried on telling him how I loved his daughter and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
I wasn’t sure if I was rambling on too much or if he was just not listening, at least until we reached a clearing where a large buck was standing at least a hundred yards away. Esther’s father grabbed his gun from its holster, took aim and fired.
The buck went down right away.
Turning back to look at me, he had a big smile on his face. After what felt like an eternity, he told me I had his blessing to marry Esther but he cautioned me to remember that day. I helped him load the buck and then rode off before he could change his mind or show off more hunting skills.
Returning to the farm, I found Esther and asked her to ride with me to one of our favorite spots. We were standing beneath a flowering dogwood tree next to the river when I asked her to marry me. She tried to pretend she hadn’t heard me just so I would ask it again before she finally said yes.
So, spring faded into summer, and we decided on a wedding date of August 12. We had a big party to celebrate the engagement and I started working on our future home with the help of my father and brother. It seemed as though nothing could go wrong, but if it had all gone right, I wouldn’t be here now.
As August drew closer, I found my nerves getting the better of me. My stomach was causing me pain from time to time, with the frequency increasing with each day.
Weddings in a small town are a big deal, and everyone gets involved in one way or another. The house was complete by the first of August and I moved in to make sure everything was right for our future family. Esther wanted to see it, but I told her she would have to wait for the night of the wedding as it was supposed to be a surprise for her.
A few days before the wedding, I confided in my father how my nerves had been bothering me and he assured me it was normal to have butterflies going into such a big event. I took his word for it, though I wish I hadn’t.
The day before we were to be wed, I found myself in a lot more pain. Not wanting to be a bother to anyone, I decided to take a walk and try to calm down. There was a trail near my new house that went along the river, and I thought the calm of the water would help. As I walked, I found the pain growing worse and worse in my stomach, until I felt like I was about to split open.
I held my right side as I walked, feeling worse and worse with each step. My vision started to blur and I felt myself falling off the bank, into the river below. I passed out and the pain finally subsided.
When I woke, I was back in my house, unsure of how I got there or what day it was. As I climbed out of bed, I heard a knock at the door followed by the voice of my brother asking why I wasn’t at the wedding. Panicking, I yelled back that I was on my way as I dressed and ran to the door. By the time I got outside, he was gone, likely back to the ceremony to tell everyone I was coming.
I hurried down the road, managing to arrive as several guests were leaving. I tried to stop them, but they ignored me as they walked past. I heard a few whispers from people wondering why I didn’t show up, some even saying they expected as much. My own father said he wasn’t surprised that I backed out after being as nervous as I was.
I was starting to get upset at them for ignoring me when I saw Esther sitting on the steps of the altar. She was staring off as if in shock, and I walked up to her expecting some kind of response only to be met with silence when I apologized.
I reached my hand out to touch her shoulder, but it went right through. She shuddered and looked around, putting her hand up to where I tried to touch her. As the realization hit me, I stumbled backwards, landing on the ground.
I was dead.
But that couldn’t be. I would know if I had died, right? I thought about falling into the river, how I had floated away. Where was my body? Someone had to be looking for me, they had to know I wouldn’t just leave the love of my life at the altar.
I tried again to comfort Esther, to get her attention, but nothing worked. She sat there, a blank look on her face, for hours. All the guests had gone home and the food was starting to spoil before her friends finally convinced her to go inside and lie down. I followed her, sitting on the bed and watching as she finally drifted off to sleep.
The next few days were rough for both of us. She kept asking why I had left her, crying and refusing to eat anything. All I could do was watch as she became a completely different person. The light in her eyes that I had fallen in love with was gone, replaced by darkness. Her friends finally convinced her to eat small amounts, but she only did it to make them go away.
Over the next several months, she faded more and more. Her parents tried to make her leave the room, but she just sat, stone-faced, as they did everything from asking politely to yelling at her. Even they eventually gave up, leaving her alone with only me to watch as she withered.
By late November, I started going out for walks when she slept. The pain of seeing her like that was unbearable. At first, I would only go out for a few minutes at a time, but I started staying out longer and longer. After a few walks I got the idea to start looking for my body, hoping in the back of my mind that finding it would somehow break the spell over Esther and she would be able to move on and find happiness again.
I walked for miles every night, looking up and down the river. After a while I forgot what I was even doing out there. The nights seemed to be growing darker, and the days were barely distinguishable from the night. The wind blew snow all around me, but I didn’t feel cold.
One morning, I returned from my stroll to find the bed, where Esther usually laid, empty. I felt relief surge through me as I believed she had finally moved on. Then I heard crying from the front room.
Walking through the house, I found Esther’s mother on a chair near the fireplace, sobbing into her hands. The rest of the family was gathered as well, but Esther was nowhere to be seen.
I was only able to take in the scene for a moment before it faded, darkness taking over again. As the light returned, I found myself in the cemetery. It was spring and a crowd was gathered around one of the graves. As I walked up, a feeling of grief overwhelmed me and I heard someone say she died of a broken heart.
As I looked around at the crowd, I saw someone dressed in white standing at the gate to the grounds. Esther had a look of rage on her face as she vanished before my eyes. I tried to find her, explain what happened, but she kept disappearing.
I walked constantly around the town, looking for her. She would show herself from time to time, always with a look of hatred before leaving again. The buildings around us faded and crumbled, but we remained.
The small town became nothing more than a legend, and we stayed. Some days I don’t even remember why we do this, play this game. Some days I can’t remember why it was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives.

2023.06.03 01:59 I-Reeddit Good performance and quality laptop for $3000 CAD?
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$3000 CAD
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
No
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Form factor doesn't matter, build quality must be durable and last years to come, performance must be very good, battery life should last at least 4 hours when using Microsoft office or coding.
- How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not at all
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
The bigger the better, but minimum of 14 inches
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, OBS, and maybe play some Hood or Elden Ring.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Elden Ring at max settings would be the most intensive thing I would run in today's world, so that with at the very least the display's refresh rate (has to be 240hz or above).
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Going to be coding so good keyboard, want it to last so good build quality, using external displays so USB-C and Displayport/HDMI, editing recordings so a card reader would be nice, and a display of at least 1080p with 240+ refresh rate.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I can go a little over budget if it means getting the best of the best within my requirements.

2023.06.03 01:44 CommanderHobo07 Online][5e][LGBTQ+][Saturday afternoon/evenings] [15-18] Looking to run a high fantasy homebrew campaign!
(Posting again for reach! all those that applied yesterday are still up for consideration!)
HELLOOOOOO!
Alright. So. Hello. Im Tristan, im 17, I use He/Him pronouns, and I really wanna finally DM a full whole hearted dnd game. I've dmed one shots, and a few mini campaigns (longest one was 20 sessions!) but now I wanna go full throttle with a LONG TERM GAME YIPPIEEEEEEEE
GAMES WILL TAKE PLACE SATURDAYS AT 4:30 PST!!! (Session 0 will most likely be the 10th of june)
The game takes place in my homebrew world of Alacatha. most official D&D material is able to be used, I have homebrew races available, as well as a full google doc with at least one homebrew subclass for every core class!
Due to wanting to make this the best game possible, I do have a preferences and a requirement for prospective players; Have a decent quality mic 😭 im sensitive to sound, and the buzzing or ringing or bad audio of a poor microphone really aggravates and genuinely hurts me.
I would also prefer if you were someone who got really into their character! Seeing stuff like character playlists or art or goofy ahh quotes n stuff like that REALLY makes me happy, and confirms to me that you're enjoying the game! Also not really a requirement, but i would prefer if you didn't just only show up for sessions, but talked a little bit in the campaigns server haha. Final preference is that you're also LGBTQ+, and in my age range. Im queer, and would highly prefer playing with other queer players.
ANYWAY! That aside! Fill out the app if you wanna join! Please be sure to stand yourself out, get a little silly w it, Introduce yourself n stuff! This isn't a first come first serve basis, and you're much more likely to get accepted if you do!
