Hello all and welcome to Game Changer!

Previously, we have removed the ability to place blocks, and gone back to play a full vanilla game. Now, we are playing an FFA UHC with controllers! Each player used two key mods: the Proximity Chat mod, just for funsies, and the Controller mod, which allows full compatibility with almost any controller that functions on a PC. Due to hardware restrictions, we had a much smaller season this time around as only about half of our players even owned a controller. We also brought in some guests to beefen up the competition a little!
We also decided to try something a little different with the episode formatting. This time around, we have 30 minute episodes, with meetup starting episode 4. Episodes will be once again airing daily!

I'm fully enjoying Season 20 due to the World All-Stars premise (winners and finalists). Kudos to Top Chef in pulling this season together. Thus, it's surprising the number of comments describing this season as boring. I can imagine some potential reasons for this:

Include the winner from last season? IMO, Season 20 includes the best contestants from across the world. Absolutely yes, a US TC winner needs to compete in this format. Do past winners see more downside if he/she doesn't win or, at a minimum, reach the finals? Would I rather see a more statistically dominate TC US winner compete instead of Buddha? Probably, but most likely they were asked and declined. Thank you Buddha for representing as a US TC winner.
Buddha is too dominant? A lot of folks suggest the winner as fait accompli. Knowing nothing about the non-US contestants, I never adopted this view. Yes it's clear Buddha is the favorite in the finale. However, what matters is the final meal, not the cumulative wins throughout the season. Look at the #8 seed Miami Heat playing in the NBA finals. Yes, they probably won't win but that was true against the Bucks, Knicks (maybe), and Celtics.
However, I think the biggest reason is the international component itself.
1. In previous seasons, the chefs were less of a mystery. You had someone that knew Southern flavors and cooking, someone that was farm to table, molecular gastronomy, etc. If not the food style, we could identify with their city (New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Dallas, etc). That's not the case with the international competition. France gets an asterisk as ~90%+? of the contestants mention their background in French techniques at some point during the season.
2. It made it more difficult to identify who you liked. I feel an important component of dislike is the contrast to a contestant one likes. Thus, boring: I don't really care who wins and for some reason I can't put a finger on, I prefer that contestant X does not win.
3. Keeping the ~60 minute episode duration exacerbated the sub points above due to this new "confusion".

For the next World All-Stars, you can't really do anything about points #1 and #2, but I think there is something you can do about point #3. Create a First Chance Kitchen for contestants to compete from each country. Make the challenge educational about their country, e.g. are potatoes The Starch in Poland or is it just Sylwia's personal love of potatoes? What's the equivalent of a Thai hamburger or hotdog? In addition to learning about the country we get to know the contestant. A First Chance Kitchen hack would really help to identify the contestant(s) one likes and lessen the international confusion aspect.

2023.06.03 20:52 MillanFS Open fanfic focused on writing redemption character arcs

The Big 3 have always had a problem with rushing redemption stories, they rushed Hawk in S4 giving him way less time than he deserved for a redemption arc and an AVT champion arc, and they rushed Robby making him a yesman to Johnny in Mexico and destroying his independent, rebellious and lone-wolf nature. In Season 6 they have to write Tory’s and Kenny’s redemption arc and I feel it might be a disappointment again. They shouldn't sideline redemption characters like Hawk or Tory nor give them a reduced role but the opposite.
So I have decided to write a fanfic focusing on redemption characters arcs (whether failed or sucessful) and their rivals, specially Hawk-Demetri, Tory-Sam and in a minor way, Robby-Kenny (because they’re master and apprentice, not rivals). I’ve given less protagonism to Miguel and Robby on purpose because this is supposed to be only the first half of the season, and as they are the two main contenders for winning the Sekai Taikai, I want them to give room to other characters in the first half of the season and then Miguel and Robby could be the focus on the last part of the season. I also don’t want the Sekai Taikai to be the main narrative drive in the first half on the season, it should only be focused on the last part.
I've left multiple paths open so the readers can choose their favourite scenarios in a "make your own adventure" way, but I've still develop more the one which I prefer because I can't develop everyone.
Hawk should have a conflict over Robby being Daniel's favourite student, and Hawk should complain to Daniel that he's not being fairly treated as he tried to save Miyagi-do and is the male champion in S4 AVT while Robby was in CK trying to get Miyagi-do banned. Daniel won't realize he's playing favourites by prioritizing Robby- Daniel and Hawk had barely had any interaction in S4 and S5, compare this with Daniel close connection with Robby in S1, S2 and reopening the dojo in S5-.
Hawk could have two arcs, one (worse) that regresses his character into being jealous and reignites his rivalry with Robby and one (better) in which Hawk is more mature and he's instead disappointed with Daniel lying to him or denying he has favourites, in both of them Hawk could join Johnny's Eagle Fang, quit karate or maybe even joining Kreese's CK if he's demoralized and manipulated (specially if he's jealous).
Demetri could have a mediator role, trying to improve the relation between Hawk and Robby, as he's friendly with both, may try to keep Hawk in Miyagi-do, attempt to convince Daniel to spend more time with Hawk
Also, Demetri is the moral compass and the most Miyagi-like on the show so he could have also an unique conflict arc with Daniel, opposing the idea of joining the Sekai Taikai with the only purpose of stopping or destroying Cobra Kai once and for all, pointing out to Daniel that joining a world tournament to destroy another dojo -change CK name for Topanga Karate or Locust Valley- sounds insane or evil and having his first mayor fallout trust with Daniel as Demetri consider Daniel is going against Miyagi-do principles.
And maybe feeling disappointed with Daniel and Hawk conflict, or by his own conflict with Daniel, Demetri could end quitting karate with Hawk (at least for a time), which could cause Daniel to rethink and reflect on his ways.
Tory should try to redeem (and possibly fail, a failed honest redemption attempt would be new and interesting) herself and join Miyagi-Fang, but Amanda should tell her in a conversation that she only learned about her family situation in S4 thanks to Kreese. So Tory would be on a quest to find about Kreese whereabouts and would be loyal to Kreese, not because she's evil, but because she's grateful for all Kreese did for her. Tory would be the first to find Kreese and 3 scenarios may happen: that Kreese let her go and join Miyagi-fang, that Kreese recruits her into Kreese's Cobra Kai and she openly abandons Miyagi-fang or that Tory joins Kreese in secret and acts like a mole in Miyagi-fang trying to recruit some members.
This plot influences and interacts with each other, and everyhing is linked. Maybe Tory subverts Hawk, who no longer believes in Daniel, and fills him with more doubts regarding Miyagi-do (most interesting scenario), maybe she fails and get exposed. If Tory is raising any suspicion, Sam would notice it and be extremely paranoid, so I could see Sam trying to expel Tory out of Miyagi-do
Sam trying to expel Tory out of Miyagi-fang and getting into a "purge mode", trying to find all potential CK moles and casting shadow and putting blame on old CK's like Kawk, Robby or Kenny.
Tory gets expelled by Sam so Tory openly joins Cobra Kai, which causes an argument between her and Robby, with Robby threatening to break their relationship. There are three options here, whether Robby breaks with her again, Robby decides to keep their relation secret and pretend they’ve broken in public lying to the Miyagi-fangs or Robby stays with her. I’d prefer the second one, because it opens two other options, whether Robby is discovered or not. I prefer a paranoical Sam in spy mode discovering Robby for the sake of the story, but maybe the audience has any other preference.
Silver should be out of jail, he only got exposed of bribing a ref, and that's no major crime to end-up in jail. They have no evidence on Silver being behind the burning of Barnes furniture store and Stingray testimony isn't reliable. Silver should try to rebuild Cobra Kai and he could blackmail Kenny telling him that he can free his brother Shawn Payne from juvie using his lawyers if Kenny becomes a mole at Miyagi-fang and steal Miyagi-secrets and Miyagi’s medal of honour. (Silver had an interest about it in his first encounter with Mr. Miyagi in KK3.)
Kenny goes to Miyagi dojo, but watches Robby training Anthony, so he decides to go back, when in that moment he collides with Hawk. Hawk ask him what is he doing, if he's spying or has any trick upon his sleeve. Kenny apologizes to him for calling him Fauxhawk and tells him that he came to talk to Robby but he found Robby training Anthony LaRusso, who was his bully.
Hawk tells him that Kenny was acting like a bully the last few months, Kenny replies to him that he got corrupted by Cobra Kai, which leads to Hawk showing empathy, telling Kenny that he was also in CK, that he trashed the dojo and that he stole Mr. Miyagi’s medal of honour and tells Kenny a lesson about forgiveness, about how you must forgive your own enemies and they will show forgiveness to you. Hawk tells Kenny that he should talk with Robby Keene as he’s always cared about him and he’s worried about Kenny’s future.
Kenny talks with Robby in an emotive talk, thanking him for being his teacher and apologizing to him for failing him and Kenny joins Miyagi-fang, but Silver reminds him of the deal they made and Kenny feels forced to steal the medal of honor in a night training session with Robby. Kenny uses his stealth and in a moment Robby goes to drink or to the bathroom and he steals the medal.
The next day, everyone realizes Mr. Miyagi’s medal is missing and Sam, who thinks that Hawk was arguing with his father because he’s reverting to his defiant CK ways, publically accuses Hawk of stealing the medal of honour, and this causes a massive uproar. Miguel tries to descalate the conflict between his best friend Hawk and his girlfriend Sam but his efforts are useless and fails. Miguel is in a hard spot in the crossfire between them.
Hawk doesn’t feel trusted nor wanted at Miyagi-do, so he gets angry and quits, which is the moment Tory uses to tell him to give Kreese a second chance as Kreese’s a changed man and convince Hawk to join Cobra Kai. Kenny feels absolute regret and he’s completely remorseful after realizing what his actions have caused, so he thinks about confessing his secret to Robby and asking him for help, here there are two options, whether Kenny tells Robby in exchange for Robby keeping his secret and helping him (which it’s the one I prefer) or Kenny doesn’t say anything to Robby.
Demetri trust in Hawk’s innocence, but he feels desolated when Hawk’s defect and tries to get Hawk back into Miyagi-fang. Hawk tries to assure him that everything is alright, that “despite everything, you will always be my Binary Brother” and that being in opposite dojos doesn’t mean their friendship had to end but that he’s not going back to Miyagi-fang. Demetri is still not convinced, and he’s scared of Hawk getting manipulated by Kreese and could be reverting to his bully ways and end up breaking his arm again. Demetri also feels that he failed Hawk by not clearing his name and by letting him slide into CK again. Demetri also realizes that Sam is becoming way too overzealous.
Miguel is extremely disappointed at Hawk, says to him that Kreese has got into his head again. Hawk tries to defend his innocence and says that Kreese’s not in his mind nor he stole the medal of honour but Miguel trusts Sam’s words as he’s blinded by love and under Sam’s influence. Hawk also recriminates Miguel to be bonding with Robby more that with him and replacing him with Robby as his new best friend, so Miguel thinks Hawk is jealous and in the end Miguel leaves to avoid any conflict, stating Hawk is no longer his friend.
Hawk wants to ensure to Demetri and Miguel everything is alright and tries to persuade Kreese to make peace with Miyagi-fangs stating that they must first deal with Silver CK and that “the enemy of my enemy is your friend”. Kreese only agrees because he’s in inferiority (only has Tory and Hawk) and he sees the "peace as nothing more than a lull between battles" that could allow him to reinforce his position and gain time. They go to Miyagi-dojo to make the offer, but it gets rejected because Daniel doesn’t trust Kreese and Sam says it’s all a trick so they lower their guards. Demetri sees this as another abandonment of Miyagi principles and is worried on the negative effects this rejection and the continuation of hostilities may have on Hawk.
Hawk wants to talk in private with Demetri to ask him why are they rejecting the peace offer, and convinces Tory to stay a little bit longer, but he gets gang- surrounded by Sam and the Miyagi-fangs including Robby. Hawk point to Demetri that this is gang-assault and that if he’s gonna help him defend or side with his attackers, and Sam will say that if Hawk wants to escape unwounded he only have to give back Mr. Miyagi’s medal of honour, that’s very important for her, and that she will let him go. Hawk replies he doesn’t have the “fxcking medal, princess” but Sam doesn’t believe him as Hawk and Toryin Kreese’s CK, so Sam is going to attack him. Tory tries to intervene and gets ready to fight against Sam, but...
Demetri tries to stop Sam by talking and asking her if this isn’t too extreme, but Sam’s replies something like “Radical situations need severe punishments” and tries to attack.
Robby thinks (or knows) that Hawk didn’t do it as he was training that day and knows Hawk isn’t stealthy enough due to his previous experience, and wants to stop any fight from happening because he still has feelings for Tory and Tory might get wounded, so Robby has four options: Robby could say that Hawk wasn’t stealthy enough and that he was training alone to protect Kenny and keep his secret, but it would put him as the main suspicious target, as Robby has no alibi and her girlfriend Tory is in Kreese’s CK; Robby could say that Hawk wasn’t stealthy enough and that he was training with Kenny, putting a massive target on Kenny and Kenny could feel betrayed and maybe falling even more under Silver influence; Robby could say that he’s sure that Kenny did it as he confessed, which would guarantee Kenny feeling betrayed, getting expelled out of Miyagi-fang and completely falling into Silver influence or Robby could remain in silence.
If Robby decides to say nothing, Demetri would face three options: siding with the Miyagi-fangs and attacking his Binary Brother therefore betraying Hawk trust and fully throwing him under Kreese’s influence, defending his Binary Brother and betraying Miyagi-fang, therefore getting expelled of Miyagi-fang, or pretending “Not be there” therefore doing nothing. But there’s a more important Miyagi-do principle above “Not be there”, which it’s Miyagi-do Rule number 1 “Karate is for defense only”, and because pretending “Not be there” is apathy and “Apathy is death” (let’s see who catches the reference of the original conundrum a long, long time ago in a faraway story).
Miguel isn’t at the scene at first, but he could appear in any moment if the conflict drags and could try to mediate between Sam and Hawk, but he didn’t believe in Hawk but Sam, what could he do to solve the conflict? Miguel faces two options which are like Demetri’s: siding with the Miyagi-fangs and attacking his ex-best friend therefore betraying Hawk trust and increasing Kreese’s influence or defending Hawk and betraying Sam and the Miyagi-fangs, therefore getting a massive conflict with Sam and risking ending their love relationship.
After that, I’ll leave it with a “to be continued” because I’ve left a lot of possible routs and doors open, but whatever it happens, the mid-season should be focused in the conflict between Kreese’s CK and Silver’s CK in the CK civil war they’re having. Kim-da-eung could be conflicted and maybe she’ll play both sides, supporting both and will only choose siding openly with whoever ends up being the winning side. This should happen in the mid-season breaking-point to see who will triumph, absorb the other CK and represent CK in the Sekai Taikai. My personal preference is Silver, he has more resources than Kreese and the Sekai Taikai was his idea and his project, but I want to know your opinion.
The way I see it, a full unhinged "cocaine" Silver traps a vengeful Kreese by luring him into a meeting at Coyote Creek in a picnic like area, makes his CK (Shawn and Kenny) climb the trees and remain hidden and once Kreese’s CK arrived they throw Molotovs at them. Kreese, Tory and Hawk find cover under a stone bench, Silver makes them a phone call them asking them to voluntarily betray Kreese if they don’t want to end being burned alive and shouts with a maniac and sinister laugh “Do you remember the napalm days? Back to ‘Nam, Kreese, back to ‘Nam oh I liked that John, I liked that”. Kreese’s Vietnam PTSD is triggered massively, and he has a breakdown while he and his students are at risk. Tory is able to snap him back to reality and Kreese advises them to fully cover in mud to avoid major burns and thinks in giving up and surrender himself in order to save Tory (and Hawk, but mostly Tory), I leave the ending of the mid-season open here, use your imagination.
Something you may have noticed is that none of the CK kids are evil, Hawk is a dovish peacemaker who wants to keep his friendship with Demetri and Miguel, Tory joins CK due to loyalty to Kreese, not due to revenge or any evil intention and Kenny is forced to join in order to get his brother out of juvie. This is done on purpose so they can fully redeem in the second part of the season and leaving the door open to the teens to be able to redeem Cobra Kai, specially Tory after Kreese's sacrifice to save her. I've decided Kreese to sacrifice to save Tory and not Johnny because Kreese had a toxic relation with Johnny in which despite loving him, he choked him twice, and Johnny wants to close CK in S5 "Cobra Kai is the problem" but Kreese has never been violent or dangerous towards Tory on purpose, so I think any Kreese's redemption/sacrifice should focus on Tory.
See, that is how you write a compelling story for at least half of season 6 at without not focusing on the Sekai Taikai, because the ST shouldn’t be the main drive of the plot of S6 at least until the very end. If this season is going to have 15-16 episodes, as some people speculate, the Sekai Taikai shouldn’t become the main narrative focus at least until episode 10.

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.

Right now I mainly play single playecoop/VR games. CSGO, Dota 2, new starship troopers, Total War: Warhammer 3 and mainly beat saber for VR on valve index. I will be buying the next high end Valve VR headset when it comes out. Looking for something that can run 1440p at 165 hz for a few years, and be quiet.

2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?

Price isn't a huge issue, ~3-4k but I can allocate more budget for quality of life upgrades.

3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.

Looking to buy within 2 months or later this year if there is something worth waiting for. Ideally looking to see what is a good build right now and keep an eye on sales.

Using old monitors/mouse/keyboard. Dell S2721DGF is main gaming monitor (1440p, 165hz), have an HP 27' conference monitor from work (75 hz) all less then a year old. 3rd monitor is an old Asus ProArt (6+ years). Might reuse my Samsung Evo 860 1tb as secondary storage. (~2 years)

Want to do air cooling as I don't really want to risk liquid damaging parts. I have really liked Noctua cooling in the past and will likely want to stay with them.
Need a graphics card that can handle 3 monitors +VR. I would also like to put my LG 55 Inch TV as well, but I don't think any gaming cards have 5 ports so not a huge deal for the TV.

Reactivity III: Seeing it coming
Welcome to this episode of ‘I read Enneagram Literature so you don’t have to’.
So one of the first things they tell you about deescalating conflict situations is that the number 1 thing to do is to make youre that you don’t get triggered & escalated yourself.
According to the so-called Law of Requisite Variety, the person who is the most flexible has the greatest chance to influence the outcome of a situation, and firing off your habitual pattern is the opposite of flexibility – its the best way to end up in the exact same argument with your spouse that you’re always in and that kind of feels like its the same one you had with all your exes and maybe even your parents because it’s hitting all those olf familiar pain points and fault lines.
So, how do we avoid this? The more set off you get the harder it becomes, after all these darn patterns are quite entrenched for many years with the punch of many past hurts behind them.
So one thing that’s been suggested is to try to spot your reactivity in its early stages, when it’s just starting to get going.
For this, it helps to try to note & then learn to recognize the specific emotional state and physical sensations that precede things going sideways, so that when you start feeling it you can take a deep belly breath, pause, Mindfully Observe (TM), interrupt/distract yourself with something random or whatever works for you to stop going into the usual loop.
Thus I want to note that to effectively do this you’d have to get a feel for what it feels like for you specifically, and probably on the first attempts you will only notice sort of in hindsight after you’ve already fired off – you’ve got to connect the words to the actual sensations that is meant by it & it’s more important to hone in on what ticks off you specifically than to be a perfect example specimen of your type, this is more helpful if its more individual.
That said, the book author has recorded some general tendencies based on what his clients report, so here are some general pointers of what to look for at least to start with, before you get a grasp on your individual ‘answer’ & can let that take precedence.
Maybe before you keep reading, try to stop & come up with an answer yourself first. What are you usually feeling before you get in a situation where you just react? What particularsituational cues set you off? Can you pinpoint what physical sensations this is usually accompanied by?
Maybe your being setoff or triggered looks like on of the following:

Chances are it concerned something that is flagrantly wrong that needs mentioning and correcting, or it might have something to do with unfairness, a lack of accountability or irresponsibility.
At some point, you might have launched into some kind of unrelenting, unforgiving condemnation of it. The judgement seems absolute; You feel rife with conviction. You can viscerally feel how wrong or disgusting it is.
Physically, you might have taken on a constricted, rigid stance, you might notice a tension in your face, body and jaw. Underneath it, that tension might be a long time’s worth of pent-up anger and resentment straining against its binds.
But your feelings, or anyone else’s, for that matter, are probably not on your radar, just the automatic, unshakeable judgement you have passed.
At some point, you’ve slipped into relating to the other person from a superior position, delivering the obvious, inarguable truth to them like the voice of the metatron.

It probably started as situation where you were expecting to get that good feeling of being able to help others or receive a positive reaction from them, but then it didn’t happen.
You might have been holding your breath, bracing for the others’ reaction, waiting to exhale when you would finally get the satisfaction of a job well done, but something’s in your way.
One moment youre relishing in that good feeling you get when you know just what the best thing to do is and will get to show your care & affection, and then you’re just left with this sense of tightness and anxiety in your heart.
Maybe there is what you perceive to be some frustrating impediment that kept you from helping, or, you feel that your goodwill has gone unappreciated.
It hurts. Its distressing.
Maybe to escape an underlying feeling that you’ve been rejected, humiliated or found dispensible, you slip into a kind of superior position of someone who did everything right but was unfairly slighted: You bring all this goodwill, nice intentions & dedication, and in return, you get hurt like this??
And when you feel that pain, and sense of being faced with ingratitude, you feel very much justified and rightfully entitled to react, to call out the other on all you did for them whiley they didn’t return it. At some point the attention shifted from whater intentions you had regarding the other person’s emotions to your own: Your hurt, your distress, your wounded feelings.
For once you feel justified in your ispleasure and in expressising it openly for everyone to see, because after all its the other person who wronged you, and after all you did for them...

The straw that broke the camels back was probably a situation where you saw the path to accomplishing your tasks and goals clearly before you, as a satisfying straight line from A to B… and then something got in the way. Or, you have done the thing and no one’s noticed. The approval or admiration that you’ve been expected just didn’t materialize. Or perhaps it’s a smaller obstacle, you are trying to work your charme on someone but you’re not suceeding at making the impression you were going on.
Whatever it was, at that point you probably launched yourself into some sort of impatience, agitation or frustration.
There might be a blinders-like effect when you’re focussed on the desired result. You’ve got to keep pushing, with the ellbows if necessary, and you have to come out looking good and having it under control.
Feelings and heartfelt receptivity that you might otherwise have featured in take the backseat for now in the name of competitive experience.
But underneath it all, this sweep of reactivity may be fueled by an anxious, distressed sense of impatience that is felt in your chest, and perhaps a bit of feeling unseen, ignored, not approved of.
But you don’t got time for this, or anybody else’s feelings, you gotta keep pushing, faster, harder, relentlessly, until the deed is done.

You’ve probably just been dissapointed. Again.
You don’t know how you allowed yourself to believe that this time, you might finally have been getting close to what you were looking for, but now you’ve fallen from the clouds and whatever moud you were in has abruptly and suddenly taken a plunge to miseryland.
You can’t help but notice everything that should be here but isn’t, everything that’s missing, that’s not enough, all the ways that you or others have fallen short.
Everything is terrible, it has always been terrible and always will be terrible, everything is just made of revolting terribleness.
What sparked this off was maybe a sharply felt realization of how your woes were going unheard, how you were going unseen once again, overlooked, dismissed or offensively disregarded.
Maybe you lash out and let them all hear about it and lambast them mercilessly in your spite and disgust, or you’ve stormed out, slamming the door behind you – or perhaps you’re just sitting there & sulking, marinating in your lamentations and your picking apart of yourself, the other people involved, and everything else in sight that just repulses and offends you, but in the end, when the fire has burned itself out and you’re left with the ashes, you’re left with the mournful yearning for your crushed, impossible dream that has once again slipped out of reach, longing for, and feeling yourself far from that which really matters, cut off from the ignorant bliss that everyone else seems to get to wade in.

Most likely, you are feeling hounded, pressured or put-upon.
It’s beginning to look like you may not be able to hold onto to all of your time, privacy or independence.
Or, someone’s come bargin into your personal space with jarring suddenness, is pelting you with invasive questions and/or and unloaded a bunch of demands on you that you feel inadequate to anticipate, let alone live up to.
Another common trigger is having your attempt to contribute some information blown off, (“no one wants to hear that nerd stuff!”) which on some level might register as a personal rejection.
The response is tendentially to pull away or disengage. You don’t care about all of this crap anyway and want nothing more to do with it. You need out, now. You can’t seem to get far away enough from any other living being, you can’t stand it if there’s so much as someone looking at you.
It might be felt as a sort of contracting sensation in your chest, a desire to hide, to shrink away to some corner, or into yourself if there’s nowhere else to go.
Under that there might be a lowkey panic of what you’re going to have to lose or give up, which is of course going to put you into a counterproductive defensive stance, some assumed script where you’re some tiny flimsy thing incapable of resisting and they’re going to devour you.
Others might then interpret this as you pushing them away or playing hard to get.

A common sign here that you’re going off is concern with an over-focussed magnification of something: A perceived discrepancy or incongruity, a possible danger, a nagging little doubt… whatever it is, you probably can’t stop thinking about it, thinking up pessimistic scenarios or fixating on your lack of preparedness.
Either way your thoughts are dominated by this preoccupation and the longer this goes on the more you work yourself into a frenzied state of being on-edge.
On the physical side this comes with all the symptoms of an adrenaline rush, emotionally it might be experienced as caution, anxiety, hostililty, suspicion, frustation or an explosive cocktail of all of these just waiting to ignite.
Sometimes you might touch the kindling off yourself by provoking or testing the other, confronting them with accusation or trying to take control of the situation.
(Note: Interestingly, this type 6 blogger wrote a whole article on the phenomenon of overfixating on details when worked up & her journey of trying to get from that to what she labels ‘productive thinking’ – usingStabile’s terminology here)

For 7 the characteristic reactivity is quintessentially a flight response, and as such set off by a sense of constriction, limitation, being trapped.
In an animal you might see this when there’s a concrete something to run away from but in us humans with our newfangled abstract thinking it can be caused by anything we see as trapping, caging or restraining us – such as unwanted feelings, unwelcome facts, infringements on our freedom, and what we consider part of living an unrestrained, unburdened live such as our sense of bouyancy, being able to stay positive, flexible, upbeat, stimulated, farseeing, having all the options & possibilities etc.
This includes when another person comes to you as a bearer of bad news and expresses or brings up feelings that you don’t want to engage with.
Underlying is often some anxiety about missing out & getting stuck in deprivation, sadness, boredom, helplessness, inferiority etc.
Experientially this might register as sense of anxious frustration, some constriction around the solar plexus and an influx of jittery, restless energy and heat as your body lowkey prepares to run for the hills. You might actually feel some urge to move, go do something else, change the topic, get out of the conversation etc. back to the ‘safety’ of what’s okay and positive. At this point your focus is mostly going to be on yourself and how you will avoid being caught by the figurative tiger and there is going to be far less mental bandwith to worry about the needs of anybody else.

What set you off was probably some kind of perceived violation: Someone has overstepped your boundaries and needs to be put back in line, or they are trying to overpower you and make you dance to their tune.
Another trigger might be things going against your will on your ‘turf’ – eg. someone doing the overpowering or violating to someone you care about, doing something on your watch that they’re not supposed to be doing, or otherwise going against your personal sense of justice, truth or fairness, right in from of your salad.
Physically this might feel like an intense rush of energy and heat. Sometimes there can be an outright exuberant or thrilling quality to it, a sense of relishing in the fight. Other times it’s pure survival and the response happens without thinking at all.
Either way the reaction is very fast and the resulting action almost immediate: Ready, aim, fire.
Once fired up, the effect is a bit like that of blinkers on a racehorse:
Your going to get your way and shut down what you don’t want, making use of whatever leverage you have in this situation or the weak points you might notice about your adversary (and there’s definitely a shift to an adversarial mindset) – often people don’t expect pushback and buckle right away, though this can be seen by others as steamrolling, intimidating or even domineering.

As a 9, your reactivity probably rather takes the form of inertia, of digging in your heels to stay in place rather than an activating force that gets you marching off to tear someone a new one, as many of the other types might. You’ve probably launched yourself into some kind of stubborn resistance because you feel you’re being pushed into action or forced into conflict when you don’t want it. Maybe you feel like you’re being pushed around, or that something that is really important to you personally is not being considered, that you’te being overlooked while no one seems to notice or care & just letting you & your interests be trampled underfoot.
It’s not rare for such a moment to have been preceded by situations where you had previously decided that it wasn’t worth stating your needs, asking to be included & considered & didn’t take any steps to ensure you’re on people’s priority list. You figured that it wasn’t worth it or you didn’t mind, but then something happened that really rubbed the salt in, or touched near some priority that you really don’t want to give up.
On the physical level this might be felt as a sense of leaden heavyness in your body; feelings wise you might experience despair, resignation, apathy and defeat. In any case it’s probably going to extinguish whatever motivation, vibrancy or vitality you might otherwise have had going on.

I obsess over this s*** every season, every year. It’s my favorite mode. I have a love/hate for the toxicity but lately it’s been stressing me out. Probably 70% of my opponents rage quit so that makes it easier but amount of exploits people employ to win a game is crazy. Especially when people are buying cards and have significantly better teams than me. I endured all of that just to get two James Hardens out the 20 pack box 😭 but I also play for glory. I take pride in the fact I don’t have to off ball, change 100 defensive settings, and abuse exploits to win a game. Is it worth it? Yes, I’d say. For people who don’t spend money on the game, the best thing for you to do is to win to reap all the free rewards.

Praise versus Criticism posts...
Somewhere along the way of Season Two, a line further divided the community in their opinion of the progression. This has led to what I'll define as "The Complaining Wars," which needs to be cleared up. Many posts have either voiced their disdain with the first four episodes or people expressing frustration against the previous. So let's clear up a few things:

It's okay to have differing stances for this show; we allow for's and against
- Whenever posting your position, try to keep cordial and supported
- This isn't a blindly supporting authoritarian sub
  - You don't have to agree or disagree with it but you will respect their opinion.
  - Sub Rule #5 will be heavily enforced in these types of comments/posts
- At this moment, the mods are discussing possible solutions to combat the increasing posts of frustration. (Please feel free to be a part of the conversation by posting in the Discord server #suggestions)
  - The first step will be the creation of a post tag. That way, people can filter through the posts more accessible. No one is making anyone read the comments that don't align with your views, so you're reading those at your own risk.

Coming in at 83rd on the list is the team representing the least populous state, Wyoming. While the Cowboys are mostly known by the average fan as being the school Josh Allen played at, they have a fairly rich history of success, and have produced many great coaches. College Football Hall of Famers Bowden Wyatt, Bob Devaney, Pat Dye, and Dennis Erickson all ran the show at Wyoming before moving onto bigger football powerhouses. Former Texas coach Fred Akers and Purdue coach Joe Tiller as well, and the current head man is Craig Bohl, who started the North Dakota State dynasty and won 3 national titles there.

I mean…not bad, right? When I started this series I didn’t know how Wyoming would fare, but they certainly exceeded my expectations. 23 of 40 seasons with at least a .500 record is very good at the Group of 5 level, and they’re very close to becoming the first 40-year G5 team with a winning record on this list. The only conference title season that didn’t make the top 5 is 1993 at #9, when Joe Tiller led Wyoming to an 8-4 record and a 3-way share of the WAC crown. The All-Americans include the great Dallas Cowboys TE Jay Novacek in 1984, WR Marcus Harris in ‘96, and DB Brian Lee in ‘97. Surprisingly, the highest ranked Josh Allen team (2016) only comes in at 7th, which shows the high quality of teams Wyoming’s produced over the last 4 decades.

Top 5 Seasons

Worst Season: 2000 (1-10 overall, 0-7 Mountain West)
Armed with a new coaching staff led by Vic Koenning, Wyoming’s defensive coordinator for one of the better 3 year stretches in Cowboy football history, Wyoming was full of confidence for the turn of the century. After predictably losing games to Auburn and Texas A&M, Wyoming rebounded to beat Central Michigan 31-10, and had a 21-7 point lead over Nevada, looking for their second straight win. The season ended there, and everyone went home happy. Kidding, Nevada scored 21 straight points to pull off the win in Laramie, and Wyoming didn’t win a game for the rest of the year. The closest loss was by just 12 points, and shutouts included 0-34 to San Diego State and 0-34 to Utah. But the Cowboys were certainly not without talent! Tucked away as the backup QB was Casey Bramlet, who would throw for 3000+ yards in each of the next 3 seasons and is an all-time great Wyoming QB. The receiver room was also loaded, with future NFL WR Malcolm Floyd (5500 receiving yards at the next level), and future CFL veteran WR brothers Brett and Brock Ralph. Brock won 2 Grey Cups, and Brett was a 4 year starter for the Calgary Stampeders.
5. 1999 (7-4 overall, 4-3 Mountain West)
Get ready for a history lesson, because each season in the top 5 predate the 21st century. 1999 was the first official year of the Mountain West Conference, formed by some of the longtime members of the WAC. Wyoming was known as a solid team around this time, but the class of the conference was clearly LaVell Edwards and BYU, who had won 18 of the last 25 WAC titles. So late in the season, when #15 8-1 BYU rolled into Laramie to face 5-3 Wyoming, the Cougars were heavy favorites to win the game and clinch the Mountain West in its inaugural season. The Cowboys had other plans though, and held BYU to just 29 rushing yards in a 31-17 upset. The fans stormed the field and tore down the goalposts, and Wyoming was right back in the conference title hunt. With a win in the final week they would’ve shared a 4-way title with Utah, BYU, and Colorado State, but lost 7-39 to San Diego State to finish 7-4 and 4th place in the MWC. Despite a winning record, they weren’t invited to play in a bowl either.
4. 1998 (8-3 overall, 6-2 WAC)
Conversely, this was Wyoming’s last year in the WAC. And they had a damn tough defense to play against. After beating Montana State 17-9 in week 1, the Cowboys flew to Athens to play #12 Georgia, and held them scoreless in the 2nd half in a 9-16 loss. Wyoming forced 4 turnovers, and could’ve even pulled off the upset if Georgia didn’t have one of the better defenses in the country. Fast forward later in the season with just 2 weeks left to play, Wyoming still had just 1 loss, to Georgia, and was 8-1 and ranked #25, with wins over .500 or better teams Louisiana Tech, TCU, Colorado State, and Utah. That set up a matchup with #23 Air Force for the WAC Mountain Division title in Laramie. In a battle of the top defenses in the WAC, Air Force did enough for the 10-3 win. Wyoming just needed to win their final game against 3-7 Tulsa, and Las Vegas Bowl representatives were so confident in a Wyoming win that they attended the game, ready to invite the Cowboys after the final whistle. Tulsa played their best game of the year though, in a 35-0 upset, and Wyoming missed out on a bowl.
3. 1996 (10-2 overall, 7-1 WAC)
As the season kicked off, Wyoming celebrated the 100th season in team history. This would be coach Joe Tiller’s last season at the helm before going on to success at Purdue. A 9-0 start came with its up and downs. An opening week 40-38 win over Idaho was too close for comfort, and Wyoming trailed Iowa State 23-38 with just half the 4th quarter remaining, before miraculously coming back to win 41-38 in OT. The defense started to find its stride afterwards and the offense kept clicking, averaging 43.3 PPG in the 9-0 start. A surprise 24-28 loss to 5-2 San Diego State ended the perfect season, but after beating Colorado State the Cowboys were headed to the inaugural WAC championship game to face BYU. A record crowd of 41,238 showed up to Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas that day, for the bout between #6 BYU and #20 Wyoming. BYU QB Steve Sarkisian was the most accurate passer in the NCAA, and their offense was top 5 in the country. Holding a 25-20 lead with just 3 minutes to go, Tiller elected to take a safety instead of punting deep from their own end zone, but BYU would go on to tie it 25-25 before eventually winning 28-25 in OT. Wyoming surprisingly wasn’t invited to a bowl game, but finished #22 in the country.
WR Marcus Harris was the best in the country, earning consensus All-American honors with 109 catches for 1650 yards and 13 TD, also finishing 9th in Heisman voting (the only WR to finish top 10). Harris finished his career as the NCAA’s all-time leading receiver with 4518 yards in just 3 years of starting. S Brian Lee was arguably the best defensive back in school history, ranking 2nd in the nation in interceptions with 8. A year later in 1997, he’d repeat with another 8 INTs, this time leading the country, and earned a consensus All-American spot because of it.
2. 1987 (10-3 overall, 8-0 WAC)
After coach Dennis Erickson left for Washington State following the 1986 season, Wyoming’s athletic director, Paul Roach, hired himself to double as the head football coach. Fans and media members weren’t sure of the move, but would quickly come to enjoy the fruits of his labor. An opening 27-13 win over Air Force was a big one; the Falcons had gone 12-1 just 2 years prior. After dropping a game to Washington State + Erickson and Oklahoma State, a few weeks later the Cowboys were 4-2 heading into BYU. Down 0-14, the Cowboys headed into halftime in front of a record BYU crowd of 65,291. 29 straight points later, Wyoming was up by 15, and would hang on to win 29-27, the game now known as the “Silence of the Cougars”. BYU fans, who just 3 years ago had watched their team win a national title, filed out of the stadium in stunned silence. Wyoming players believed they’d run the table after that and they did, going 10-2 and winning the WAC with a perfect 8-0 record. Wyoming faced Hayden Fry and #18 Iowa in the Holiday Bowl, and the Hawkeyes needed a blocked punt return for TD, pick six, and blocked FG to eek out a 20-19 win. Wyoming QB Craig Burnett was top 10 in the nation in passing yards/TDs with 3131 yards 21 TD 16 INT. RB Gerald Abraham was also top 10 with 1305 rushing yards. The year set up nicely for the 1988 team that would end up being Wyoming’s best team in the last 40 years…
1. 1988 (11-2 overall, 8-0 WAC)
Was the win over BYU a fluke? Going 8-0 in the WAC a farce? The 1988 team set out to quell those doubts. Armed with a new QB in Randy Welniak, Wyoming faced off against BYU in the season opener, a grudge match with the Cougars out for revenge. This time, Wyoming left no doubt. A 24-14 win was even more dominant than the score looked, with Wyoming intercepting 4 passes, recovering 3 fumbles, and racking up 9 sacks. Freshman BYU QB and future Heisman winner Ty Detmer was just 9/26 for 133 yards 1 TD and 4 INT. After that, things were just easy for Wyoming. 44-9 over an 8-3 Louisville team. 38-6 over Louisiana Tech. 55-27 over San Diego State. 61-18 over Utah. Late in the season, ranked #10 and matched up with 8-1 UTEP for the WAC title, Wyoming put on their best performance of the season, beating the Miners 51-6 and winning the WAC title for the 2nd straight year in the process. Wyoming entered their bowl at 10-1, with the only loss to Houston and Andre Ware, who’d win the Heisman a year later. Unfortunately this is where the fun ends, as the Cowboys faced #12 Oklahoma State in the bowl. Do you remember who was on that Oklahoma State team? Yeah, Barry Sanders ran for 222 yards and 5 TD…and sat out the 4th quarter. Oh you thought I was talking about Mike Gundy? Yeah, he had a good game too, 20/24 for 315 yards.
But the focus is on Wyoming. An unreal year. They averaged 39.3 PPG (4th best in the nation) while giving up just 21.5 PPG. 6 wins were by 30+ points. QB Randy Welniak had one of the best seasons by a quarterback in school history, throwing for 2791 yards 21 TD 11 INT with 415 rushing yards and 16 TD. Welniak was 2nd in the country in TDs with 37, and won WAC Offensive POTY. DT Pat Rabold won WAC Defensive POTY. Paul Roach hiring himself as head coach in 1987 turned out to be a shrewd move in hindsight, and would go back to being just AD in 1991 after going 35-15 in his 4 years as coach.

2023.06.03 20:15 Realistic-Use-2784 Favorite and least favorite episode each season

I recently finished all 6 seasons and overall loved the show, I am so excited for S7 and it’s gonna be so much fun watching it as it gets released together with this fandom. Anyway, I did a little favorite/least favorite episode summarize and if you would like to share yours I’d love to read it.
Season 1:
Best: 1x07. I don’t know how many times I’ve rewatched this episode, I keep coming back to it. This episode alone is better than most romantic movies I’ve seen, simply a masterpiece. Honorable: mentions: 1x11, 1x12, 1x06, 1x05.
Worst: 1x14. I think most of us agree that this was the weaker episode in an otherwise amazing season but it’s still not bad by any means. I really loved to see Claire and Murtaghs relationship develop and strengthen (that scene in the cave alone saved the episode). Runner up: 1x01. I know that they had to build the foundation before getting to the “juicy” stuff but it was pretty slow and boring (once again not bad, just a bit meh compared to the rest of the season).
Season 2:
Best: 2x07. My favorite episode of the whole show, just so extremely impactful, I bawled like a baby. Honorable mentions: 2x10, 2x04, 2x05, 2x01, 2x13, 2x09, yes, I really loved this season, okay, don’t judge.
Worst: I really loved season 2 so this is hard, but probably 2x03. It just wasn’t that memorable or special. Runner up: 2x12. I did not care about the Alex/Mary/Black Jack storyline, I was sick of Black Jack and just wanted to never see him again. Praise to Tobias for playing the character so well that I absolutely loathed the sight of him. I was also a bit annoyed with Claire during this whole storyline.
Season 3:
Best: 3x06. Also an episode I keep coming back to. I adored what they did and how they handled the reunion. Honorable mentions: 3x10, 3x08, 3x04, 3x02.
Worst: 3x13. Sadly enough I greatly disliked the season finale, or if I’m being honest, most of 3B. It was just so messy, and some parts of the story were just utterly ridiculous (the shipwreck for example). Runner up: 3x11. I didn’t really appreciate Claire running around on an island for most of the episode, and once again the quick and easy rescue with ridiculous, unrealistic luck. Yeah, no thanks. I will say though, I did love drunk Claire and drunk sex, at least that somewhat saved the episode.
Season 4:
Best: 4x09. Brianna coming to Fraser’s Ridge and seeing the fathedaughter relationship develop was just so precious and lovely. Honorable mentions: 4x06, 4x05.
Worst: 4x12. This episode just bored me a lot tbh and I didn’t understand some of the plot points. Runner up: 4x01. Although I love the scene between Ian and Jamie and the episode does contain one of my favorite Jamie/Claire sex scenes the plot was pretty messy. You didn’t really know where they were going and the writers didn’t seem to know either.
Season 5:
Best: 5x07. Where to start? Love all the Jamie stuff in this episode, him and Murtagh, the desperation, Roger, the fight and the rebellious side of Jamie rising yet again, so good. Honorable mentions: 5x11, 5x10, 5x08, 5x09, pretty much all of 5B, lol.
Worst: 5x03. This might be my least favorite episode of the whole show. I just didn’t understand it. I did not care for the weird haunted house horror theme they suddenly got going (there’s a reason I don’t watch horror and I didn’t want it here either) and I don’t understand why we were spending so much time with two seemingly horrible characters that didn’t really effect the story in any way. Really not my cup of tea. Runner up: 5x04. The episode wasn’t very interesting and once again we are spending so much time with characters we barely know, I don’t really care for that.
Season 6:
Best: 6x04. I was so happy to finally see more of Ian. I also adored all the Jamie/Ian scenes and the fact that Ian finally opened up. Honorable mentions: 6x08, 6x03.
Worst: I can’t really think of one straight away, I actually enjoyed all episodes in S6. I guess I’d say 6x01 just because it was the least interesting episode, although I did love the Jamie flashbacks.

No Justice at all

Seriously. The bullies run the school, the sports coach protects them, and rapists go free. I understand the whole "Life is not fair" message they're trying to convey, but c'mon. Even in real life, things don't stack up that neatly into a well-sculpted middle finger towards victims. ...

Season 2

We really didn't need a second season. They ruined season one's groundwork in ways that I'll elaborate on later. To sum it up, though, season 2 created some show-breaking plot-holes. ...

Unnecessary suspense

They didn't have to drag out Tony's secret like that. It wasn't even that big a surprise. This could've been revealed in season one without all the unnecessary buildup. Alex losing his short-term memory was just pointless. Courtney's hangup didn't make sense, at all. Which brings me to.... ...

Courtney

No remorse at all. If the goal was to make the audience hate her, then they did a good job with her. She was way over the top with calling a rape-victim that committed suicide a liar to protect a secret nobody cared about. There were many times when I wanted to reach through the screen and tear her lips off.

Clay's parents are unrealistically absent-minded (for a lawyer and a professor). The school is a bag of cliches. There might really be lawyers like Sonya, but that judge had a mission. He really slanted this case towards the defense in such an obvious fashion, I'm surprised it wasn't a set up for Dennis to ask him to recuse himself. ...

Too many left turns

Pop quiz: Who was Hanna's first kiss?
Give up? Me, too. First she's this innocent shit-magnet, then she's a little misunderstood, then she's fallible, but still fragile. By the middle of season 2, her story did like a 180. I almost gave up on the show at the end of episode 10 when Clay finds a picture of her in the box wearing Bryce's jacket. Tony tells Clay "Yeah" in response to the question "Did I kill her?" because Clay, like any of us, wouldn't settle for that "We all did" wordplay bs. Then Hanna says in her own words that Clay doesn't belong on the tape (more on that later). And a rape victim is the one that stole the box of Polaroids? And she destroys them, too? Why again? HER story to tell? Okay then. ...

Money shot? DENIED!

I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the most telegraphed school shooting that never happened. Now, I don't wanna see kids get hurt any more than the next guy, but you could't at least give us De La Cruz? Would that have been too much? I'll be clear: If some guys held me down in a bathroom and raped me with a broomstick, I'd have shown up at their houses armed to the teeth in a hoveround. ...

Black representation

I appreciate the diversity in this show, but why is it that out of the 7 black males we do see in this show, 4 of them are try-hards. And I don't care what anyone says, Sheri looks better than Jessica (They are both grown women in IRL, relax). ...

The 'weed' stunt

Where is she getting all her info from?

Remember Sonya? The lawyer representing the school? She was extremely well informed for someone who inherited the case from somebody else who didn't have a clue. I won't call this out on realism because there are unscrupulous ways she could've gotten her info. It just annoyed me when she knew exactly what questions to ask each person. ...

The way Clay's character was handled

He was Hanna's friend. Then he was Hanna's confidant. Then he was Hanna's crush. Then he was the one Hanna wanted to give it up to. Then he was the only one she could count on. Then he was dragged into the tape fiasco, because reasons. Then he was haunted by the girl he took too long to fall in love with. Then he was a delusional sap clinging to his own ideas about Hanna and his unclear relationship with her. Then..... sigh ... whatever ...

Hannah ...

Including Clay in the Tapes was uncalled for. Her relationships with Zach, the one on the tape and the one off the tape, were weird and one should've cancelled out the other. Freaking out on Alex was uncalled for. Keeping her parents in the dark was her choice, despite her openness with her mom. What annoys me about Hanna, overall, is that Sheri, Clay, and Zach did not belong on the tapes. They were pulled in out of what can only be called spite.
