For reference, I'm a fairly novice rider, just completed my first 100k ride after slowly building up for the last year and a half. I'm a serious runner but cycling has always been my preferred cross training sport.
I currently own a Trek Dual Sport 2 that is from 2014 I believe and it has served me well but I want something that can handle some serious miles and higher speeds.
Both of these bikes seem very appealing to me given the similar specs on each bike. My only hesitation is that, while Canyon has a much better price, I am unsure of how well it handles country / rougher roads that has loose gravel at points.
My LBS is also a Trek one so that is a point in Trek's direction as well. Ultimately, (pun intended) I want my first serious road bike that will last me and help me reach my goals of comfortably riding up to 100 miles at a time. It would be fantastic to get that at a cheaper price but I appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

Hello, Umbreon hater back again. With the recent focus on HGSS tier lists, I noticed how Jumpluff was ranked comparatively low by many people, on the same level as stuff like ariados and worse than stuff like pidgeot. Now as someone whose favorite Pokémon is Jumpluff, I have definitely given it more than a couple shakes and surprisingly, it performs pretty well, with little investment compared to some pokemon. Let's jump into how this little cottonweed can wreck some havoc on a budget.

Hoppip evolves into Skiploom at 18 and you get Jumpluff at 27, right after Morty.

Let's get the obvious right out of the way. Jumpluff is not a damage dealer (with no setup). 55 in both offenses is pathetic, and here's a calc to illustrate this.

Even when using a stab quad effective move against a pokemon not exactly renowned for special bulk, Jumpluff can't even secure a roll for an ohko. You may now reasonably be asking, what's the point of using this thing then? Well if you'll notice, the bulk is actually not bad, and the speed is great. While grass flying is not a particularly good combo, it is an excellent pivot typing and jumpluff's base bulk lets you actually live more hits than you'd expect. Here's some more calcs.

As you can see, even when being thrashed by strong neutral, se, and sometimes quad effective hits, Jumpluff handily lives to fight another day. Moving onto movepool, which is where Jumpluff really gets to use that speed to its advantage.
Movepool:
Hoppip early on starts with synthesis, and will get the three powders before it evolves into skiploom. A bit after that, it will get leech seed at 24. After evolving to Jumpluff, you will get u turn, worry seed, and bounce. This general pattern so far should give you the idea that jumpluff is moreso a utility pokemon, and it for the most part is. However, some interesting tm options greatly expand its scope before just support.
Before postgame, notable tms you can get for jumpluff are protect, aerial ace, attract/flash, swords dance, swagger, and substitute. Besides aerial ace and swagger, the rest are all fairly early, being available once you enter Goldenrod. Now with the moves listed, some of you may still be confused but fret not. Jumpluff is here to run an obnoxious set that allows it to 1v1 anything not faster than it.
Sleep Powder Leech Seed Protect Substitute
Sleep the opponent immediately and seed them next. Set up a sub and alternate between that and protect for the next bevy of turns. If the opponent wakes up, sleep them again and repeat. You can equip a wide lens for a better accuracy boost to landing your powders. This sounds completely silly, until you realize this set allows you to slowly sap your enemy away and you can start doing this once you learn leech seed, as protect and substitute are available in the goldenrod department store and game corner at the low price of $2000 and 2000 coins respectively. Even if you do miss a sleep powder or two, Jumpluff's bulk ensures you won't be punished heavily.
If that's not your cup of tea, you can swap a few moves out and run u turn to make jumpluff a good pivot, synthesis for reliable recovery, stun spore for other status options, or most exciting of all, turn jumpluff into a devious sweeper. That's right. When the opponent's sleeping, reveal those swords in your pom poms. Once you are ready to go, spam aerial ace, return, or bounce to victory! Don't believe me? Here's some more calcs.

To conclude this college lecture, Jumpluff is a highly underrated pokemon. It can and is most well known for being more of a utility pokemon, but it can take a more offensive role in several ways. There are surprisingly numerous ways to customize it to fit your needs, and for the low price of $2000, 2000 coins, and 24 levels, you have yourself a certified guerilla fighter.
Now even with all this said, it is not top tier material. There are times where jumpluff won't be able to do much if anything. It also is not always the most consistent thing around, and this can lead to some unlucky, albeit very funny scenarios.
This was mainly written to show off jumpluff's abilities and how it doesn't get enough attention for what it can do. Last time I did one of these I bashed Umbreon to oblivion for rightfully being trash in HGSS. I'm still not sure if I want to make this a series where I just take a look at underrated/overrated options in vanilla games, but if popular demand calls for it, I would for sure be interested in continuing this review style.

This first act is part of a larger plan to bring mississippi out of the depths of poverty it's been in for decades. It's meant to greatly incentivise growth and development by taking advantage of the furtile land the state possesses. It will also attempt to fix mississippis current healthcare crisis of heart diseases and cancer by making healthcare cheeper and incentivising a more healthy died for residents of the state. As well as give people from outside of the state, both from within America and outside of it, a reason to want to live in the state.
SECTION 1: RECOGNIZATION AND AFFIRMATION OF LGBT+ EQUALITY
1.1. The state of mississippi hereby officially recognizes same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage will be legal in mississippi and with that will be treated equally to heterosexual marriage.
1.2. Same-sex marriage will hereby be applied to common-law marriage.
1.3. Gender affirming care will be allowed in the state. With gender affirming surgery only allowed after an individual is 18 or older.
1.4. All LGBT+ individuals will be treated equally by the state as though they were any other individual. All state offices must follow this law or else they will be investigated and potentially punished.
SECTION 2: MARIJUANA
3.1. Possession, cultivation, sale, trade, ingestion, and inhalation (of smoke of) marijuana for recreational use will hereby be legal in mississippi for all individuals of eighteen years of age of older.
3.2. In order to sell marijuana commercially one must register themselves as a member of the mississippi Marijuana Branch. This will allow for better management and research into resources relating to the development and sustenance of our cannabis industry.
3.2.B. To sell marijuana non-commercially is legal. Whenever a farm reaches any of the following criteria it is considered commercial. These criteria are, having one acre or more of marijuana, producing 250 pounds of more of marijuana flowers a year, making $150,000 or more a year from marijuana related sales, or exporting ten pounds or more of marijuana in a year to foreign entities.
3.3. There will be a tax of 5% on the sale of marijuana. As well as a base range of 0-15% taxation rate applicable at the digression of local governments.
SECTION 4: LOCALIZATION OF FOOD PRODUCTION
4.1. All residents will, upon request, be given chickens, two hens and a rooster, by the mississippi Department of Agriculture. The availability will vary. This will cost $15 of initial charge. Every individual may only receive this once.
4.2. The taxation rate on foreign commercial egg production will be raised 5%. The taxation rate on out-of-state egg production will be raised 2.5%.
4.3. The taxation rate on foreign food products will be raised 5%.
4.4. The taxation rate on local food products will be lowered 10%

My fiancé and I are looking for a new cell phone provider, ideally one that has some kind of "bundling" deal for a couple with two lines on the same plan. It's basically saying that manufacturers can no longer ship out the guns. So if a store wants to buy and resell, they have to walk to the factory and walk back to their store. As we know based on history, of course the government won't stop there and continue to overstep gradually and chip away at airsoft along with other gun related hobbies. (real steel, paintball, nerf, gel blasters)
So the rule is that all replicas would have to go to a goverment appointed 3rd party company for inspection before being eligible for sale. So all guns in the US would then be illegal to sell until they've been inspected. Would be bad if cops start showing up to seize replicas as well.
The rule is effective June 26, 2023, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by June 12, 2023. If CPSC receives such a comment, it will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing this direct final rule before its effective date. The incorporation by reference of publications listed in this rule is approved by the Director of the Federal Register as of June 26, 2023.
We have until the 12th to have our voices heard and hopefully stop them from ruining our hobby.

I am looking at a possible large cash event at some point in the middle of my career. I would like to establish a way to generate relatively stable passive income from this cash and look at early retirement.
One person I talked to mentioned 3 month T-bonds and I am trying to make sure I understand this correctly.
First of all, are they T bonds or are the T bills if they are less than a year, one definition I read says t bonds are only issued for 10 years+.
Second, T-bonds are usually considered the lowest risk security and should have lowered interest rates to match, correct? So how is the current 3 month T bill rate at 5.24%? That seems high to me?
Third, these assets pay a fixed income based off of the interest rate at the sale? So for example, if I were to buy $1M in 3 month Treasury bills at 5.24% then I would receive my $1M and $52,400 on interest at the end of August? So hypothetically, if I did that same thing all year and rates stayed relatively the same, I could make $200k of passive income annually with a $1M investment in what most consider the least risky investment out there?
Why wouldn't I do this?

Bonks. Bonks were issued in the late 1700s and early 1800s in the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia, under a few different Dutch governments (you can thank Napoleon for that). Their name translates approximately to "chunk;" they were made by chopping a chunk of copper off a bar and striking it. Quality control was poor; off-center and weakly struck coins are common. Occasionally a die was engraved backwards, a coin was double struck, or a die was so badly misaligned that its design was split between two coins. Some are a bit crusty and might be further cleanable.

I've just test driven a Ford Focus Titanium 2018 and seriously considering buying it. It's registered Dec 2018 so it has the newer design.

I really like the car from what I saw. My main concerns are that 1L engine might be a bit underwhelming. I've read that it can struggle to overtake on roads (outside of the motorway). But the vast majority of used Focuses for sale seem to only be 1L it seems. I was only allowed to drive it for 10 mins and there was not enough time to go to a motorway to get a feel for it.
Other thing I've read on forums is issues with the engine with some needing to be replaced after not too long and can be really expensive. Anyone heard much about this?
I'm interested to hear any other things I should be aware of, in particular the specs of the car I've linked above as this is the one I'm looking at buying.

New pilot here!
My instructor taught me that packing the wing loosely is better than packing it tight/ compression. That totally makes sense to me. And I’ve read online people who say that a loose speed pack bag is the best for wings, assuming the rod layout makes this ok.
But my question is how much better is it? I’ve been using a supair “compression” concertina bag for my Niviuk wing. The bag doesn’t seem to compress it really that tight compared to backpacking gear, for example. But maybe that’s considered compressed for a glider? The compression zipper on the bag gets the wing down to about 3-4” depth vs maybe 6-8” that a ‘normal’ normal concertina fold would be.
Our site is hike-up only, and a wing tight against my back is a heck of a lot more comfortable to carry than a big poofy thing which pulls back against the shoulders more. And the half-hour hike is much longer than the 2 minute sled ride down. So I guess I’m looking for some perspectives about how bad a compression pack is for a wing, how much longer it might last if it was in a normal concertina? I mean I’m reading that wings last 5 years or so max, so what are we really talking about?
My wing has nitinol rods and concertina packed without bending the rods so I’m not worried about that, just the fabric I guess. Is packing the wing a bit tighter going to knock a season off the lifespan? Or is it going to cut the life in half or something? I see people making the hike with speed pack bags and I think they’re a bit nuts. Am I missing something? Anyone feel like they have a good handle on the cost/benefit when it comes to packing?

We currently live in Texas and our house is on the market. We own it outright, i.e. there is no mortgage or other indebtedness. We are currently shopping for property to relocate to Colorado, but need to sell our existing Texas residence to have enough cash to purchase property in Colorado. We are both retired, so we don't have the income necessary for a traditional mortgage. What type of loan do we need to take cash from our existing house in Texas and apply it to a house in Colorado? We'd be looking to borrow a maximum of 50% of the value of the Texas property, and we would like to repay the debt upon the sale of that house. Does this make sense?
I would really appreciate answers that pertain specifically to Texas, because I understand some of the banking regulations are a little different here.
It's fair to ask why we don't just wait until our house sells before pursuing a Colorado purchase. The answer is that the Texas market is a little slow right now, and it might take some time to sell. However, the market in Colorado is tight and getting tighter, and prices are rising dramatically in our target town. We'd like to buy now before we get priced out.

I’m trying to remember the name of this really sad game. The game was a platformer and mostly in black and white (but not strictly since I’m pretty sure I remember some color), and the player character was this bipedal rabbit/fox/wolf type creature. I remember the game was extremely frustrating to play through for the brother as the late sister put in lots of tricks and pitfalls. As the game advanced the brother’s character got power ups (like punch or speed dash) and he also got to read the messages his sister made for him in the game before she died. I can remember watching him play through this on youtube some time ago. He often took long breaks in his play through and some episodes were him just reminiscing about his sister when she was still alive.
I’ve already tried googling everything I know about this, but most of the results just turn up “What Remains of Edith Finch” or “Gris”, neither of which are the game in question. If anyone knows the name of this game please let me know.

Basically a rant:
I've lived very close to Fairway my whole life. Understanding it's been a staple of the UWS, gone through ownership changes, and it's overpriced: I've noticed a bad trend of shenanigans at the point of sale.
Sale prices are routinely ignored in the computer system, have had items get duplicated several times repeatedly, or occasionally there is a a sale price listed, only to get to the register and have them say the sale price only applies if you have the Fairway app, despite not being advertised as such.
Today was ridiculous. I was buying a handful of items and was doing the self checkout upstairs. I noticed that the sale price on some ice cream didn't register. I told the "customer service" / machine watcher. While downstairs they seem to have a better handle on things, it looked like upstairs they had a cranky teen managing the area.
When I alerted her, she said there was nothing she could do. When I pressed the issue, she picked up her cell phone from her pocket and said "I'll have to call you back". 😂 Clearly her phone conversation through the airpods under her hair was more important than the job...
She comes to 'help' me , and then just as quickly wanders away to help someone else. I'm left standing around a bit and then they ask me to move to a service register, which is like the register for the pit boss or whatever. She rescans all my items. The price is the same. I'm trying to be polite but getting very frustrated.
The girl calls a manager who comes upstairs, and there's some joking between them, which is pretty evidently at my expense for no reason. This is one of the worst aspects of the language barrier at Fairway. A large number of Fairway employees either don't speak English or claim not to. All respect to people working jobs of every culture and creed, but don't start insulting people in another language when some common courtesy would do. "Hi how can I help you? Oh, sorry about that, let's see what we can do" is a lost art. I mean there wasn't a word said to me directly as the hand-off happened.
Now it turns out the manager is doubling down and prints out the receipt from the computer to breakdown the pricing to me in a condescending manner. Lo and behold.... the computer had duplicated the charges for the ice cream. It scanned two items as FOUR. I'm counting it off on the receipt, showing the manager. "No, it's saying three." "It's... FOUR." Now of course maybe I live in a dream world. Wouldn't a "Oh I'm sorry about that, let's remove the extra items" go a long way?
And yes, it was four.
She finally removed the duplicate charges without a blink, smile or apology.
Ugh.
It's funny because they even have these "greeters" occasionally downstairs who are asking how they can help you etc but clearly that effort from the new shoprite management is perfunctory and the rest of their teams have a LONG way to go.
