2015.02.09 23:06 Neighbor_ The God Tier Way of Listing Things
Tier lists have always been used in gaming to rank things on an easy-to-understand basis. But it does not have to be used just for gaming. It is the superior way to list rank anything and has no limitations. Be creative, you can make a tier list for anything you so desire. Best mid-size sedans, dog breeds, companies to invest in, engineering colleges, etc. There are so many advantages that this way of listing things has over the typical 1. 2. 3. listing.

2023.06.07 01:41 Meatpaste1729 Better Sniper Balance: In response to the Hanzo/Widow One-shot update and post that is currently front page
Here's the post I think the changes are a bit goofy and won't fix the issue, (see top comments on linked post) and I want to ask about my own ideas and if/why they'd work or not instead. Scroll to the bottom for those~
Before I proper start, I'm biased and hopefully that's okay. I was briefly a 3500 tank main and hopefully that's enough credential to be seen as having a decent sense of the game over the years
Snipers in fps games can always be some level of contentious, because their gameplay often revolves around headshots, and a cycle of either broken or unplayable gameplay balancing. This is not an easy problem to solve, I'm not an expert, I just want to throw my spaghetti into the wind about it
I've always found Widow to be the least 'fun' champion, mostly through what she asks of other players on her team implicitly: -Low damage output means players have to either pick up dps slack or wait for a headshot. -Extreme backline position means I had to do the most work to peel for one, and had the most difficulty 'feeling out' if I was providing good frontline pressure to open up better shots -One shots are less fun than combined damage kills for almost everyone involved except the shooter; The healers don't get to heal, the tanks don't get to shield, and even the other dps on the team doesn't get to assist. (This is a little bit hyperbole, there is pressure and positioning to think of, snipers just do it the least visibly and thus most frustratingly)
Hanzo I don't personally mind as much because his burst is higher (i can play around a hanzo air jumping in with his 5 quick shots easier than a widow's aggressive grapple) and he's often more midrange, i.e. interactable, but he can certainly spam at head height and farm tilt. He has very similar problems to Widow, I just like his playstyle more
So what are the changes going to do?
Widow is getting her long range nerfed, bringing her more midrange if she wants headshots. Good! We can interact with her! And also, bad! Horrible! Her dps is already so low that my shields will always break before my fellow opponent tank's, now it's even worse!
Hanzo's Sonic arrow is now 'more visible' to enemies, good, i like this one, it's been needed for a long time.
Hanzo can't one-shot 250hp targets thanks to a slight dps nerf. Good? Who cares? Isn't the problem squishes dying from casually tossed cross map log spam?
I don't think these changes will fully fix the issue, and I do think they risk pushing the sniper class from op to bottom tier for most Elo tiers, so here are my own custom oc do not steal but please do if they're any good, suggestions:
Widow needs a DoT poison shot on her primary sniper. It's wild she only has poison on her mine and terribly unthematic. But, it can't be all DoT because that's Anna, and her iconic sniper shot sound wouldn't match viscerally with the damage type or the hero.
So, take a portion of the total damage of the shot, and convert it to a poison DoT that ticks over the next few seconds. And tie that ratio to the distance the shot was taken at! Or even the speed at which the dot ticks, maybe with a small window of grace for a healer
Examples: Fully charged widow headshot at -200m: 300 damage, 50 instant and 250 over 3 seconds after a delay of 0.5 seconds -100m: 300 damage, 150 instant and 150 over 2 seconds after a delay of 0.5 -50m: 300 damage, 190 instant and 110 over 1 second after a delay of 0.5 -10m: 300 damage, 240 instant and 60 over 0.5 seconds after 0.5 seconds
The main reasons to like this is how modular balancing widow becomes, because you may not like these numbers but each can be changed! The damage of the shot, duh The instant/dot damage ratio at any specific range The time it takes for the dot to deal its full damage The grace period before the 'poison' sets in that allows a healer to save the day
Unironically Widows damage could be buffed under these conditions. Her damage at long range could be
increased if needed, with the stipulation that it's a long range DoT that will tick over a longer time. I'm not saying i want that, just that this damage system allows for it without making it an instant one shot, which is pretty cool I think!
Okay so hanzo gets the same treatment, but different flavor and a little simpler. He always talks about marking people by dragon, so why not actually have that as a core mechanic:
First shot marks, deals ~70-90% of it's total damage, adds a mark Second shot procs the mark, deals ~70-90% of it's total damage plus the 10-30% of the first shot, plus a new mark Third shot deals ~70-90% of it's total damage, plus the first shot mark damage, plus MAYBE the second shot mark damage as well! This accounts for shots having different amounts of charge and damage, so it won't promote a playstyle of having to shoot one limp arrow to mark and one big boi to nuke.
Simple as, don't get hit two or more times How do I know I'm marked? Maybe Hanzo says something, maybe there's a UI indicator How long does the mark last? Maybe its only who you hit last, and it's permanent until you hit someone else, maybe it lasts 3-10 seconds and you can apply it to whoever Can any of his other moves mark? Storm for sure but numbers would need to be shifted so the average damage is about the same. Maybe sonic arrow, if the mark duration was shorter? Definitely ultimate damage should mark! Tagging people with follow up shots after the twin dragons tickle them could be fun.
Point is, all the suffering is on the first shot, so just shuffle that pain over a bit, suddenly its a mechanic and you can play around it or be rewarded for chaining arrows together!
Thanks for reading however much of it you did~
TLDR:
Why don't we take Hanzo and Widow, and push their damage somewhere else? submitted by

2023.06.07 01:40 Tr10Sph3r3 Help Me With This New Series & Community?
Okay, no offence to everyone who's apart of this community (for the most part, at least), but, I can't take all this back-and-forth anymore
I haven't been on Reddit long, but part of the reasons I made an account and started viewing this community was for two reasons: 1. Emotionally deal with the departure of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu by finding those who watched and enjoyed THE ENTIRETY of his time on screen, losses and all. And 2. Find a way to enjoy the new series, Pokemon Horizons, since I can't find myself invested in it or even really watch it like the previous series. But, unfortunately, neither has been working out (The former has been working out better than the latter, but not by a whole lot). And, as messed up as it may be to say, certain fans are the reason for that. Now, I can go into vivid detail about why fans are making it hard to enjoy the series, primarily Horizons and/or two or three protagonists in particular, up for certain fans, but, I feel it'll be pointless (Heck, I doubt most, if any, of you will read this and/or be understanding). All I can say is the toxicity going on around here and other sites about the new series is not making being a Pokemon anime fan, or at least an Ash fan, enjoyable any longer
So, I decided that I need to take a long break, if not completely detach myself, from the Pokemon anime, especially a good portion of this community. But, the problem is since I've spent my entire life watching the anime, giving it up has proven to be difficult, which I do find weird since I managed to give up playing the games after Gen 5. Even though that was due to not having the systems needed to play the Gen 6 - 9 games, I managed to move on from that part of the franchise (I did managed to buy myself a 3DS to play X and Y, but by the time I saved up and bought it, I had unknowingly lost interest already)
Bottom-line, I don't think Horizons will be my thing (If you find enjoyment in it, good on you), but rather than simply turn back and watch reruns of the previous series', like with the games, I feel I need time away from it all. So, I'm asking, not as a fan, but a regular person, does anyone know any method of kicking an addiction of some sort that can apply to this?

2023.06.07 01:39 CharmingPudding5 What are your all-time favorite VR games?
My top picks are:
Simulator game: Clash of Chefs - an amazing cooking simulator that can be played both casually and hardcore. My favorite thing about Clash of Chefs is how it combines cooking with sandbox elements, allowing the player to choose how they want to spend their time in the game. Big recommendation for anyone who loves cooking sims.
Shooter game: Half-Life: Alyx - honestly, everything about this game has already been said. It's not a coincidence the game's considered the best VR game to date.
Atmospheric game: Into the Radius - the game with probably the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in any video game. It's immersive to the point of not being able to tell what time of day it is after devolving into a decent playing session. If you can, definitely give it a shot.
Rhythm game: Beat Saber - similar to Half-Life: Alyx, Beat Saber is widely recognized as one of the best and most fun VR games for a reason.
Building game: cyubeVR - the game has mesmerizing graphics and a super chill atmosphere. To top it off, the building and crafting are done so masterfully that the game feels like Minecraft on steroids, but without the annoying monsters. More than worth the price.
Sports game: Walkabout Mini Golf - such a relaxing and fun casual game!
I tried to be as objective as possible in picking my recommendations, and these are the results. Each of the listed games has its own flavor and uniqueness, so check them all out and see what suits you the best.
Other than that - what are your all-time favorite VR games? :)

2023.06.07 01:38 Knee_and_Toe_Thief Are cds dying? Are they worth collecting now?
This is gunna sound bad on my end but here we go. I recently cleaned my room, it was really really bad. I’m trying to find things to line my shelf’s with and cds came to mind. My brother is into vinyls but those are a bit big for my shelf’s (and way more expensive) so I wrote those off.
The stuff I listen to has some cds but a lot are pretty expensive. - foreground eclipse was like 40 bucks per album - utsu-p, damn his where a lot. There was a 200 dollar listing for his “greatest shits” album, great album but damn. - undead Corp, the Tohou complete box is 80 dollars on eBay. - rare Americans, bloodywood, and slaughter to prevail all sell them in their sites for 10-15 so that’s not bad.
They seem to have a market but is it worth getting into nowadays?

2023.06.07 01:38 eloisechamber A Plea For Hidden Quests.
I have over ~300 hours played of Skyrim (first play through, vanilla, AE) and I am trying to find new locations and new quests and am coming up empty. I know people play Skyrim for a decade+ and never really run out of shit to do, but I fear I am at that point, personally at least. For what it’s worth, I am having trouble getting beyond level 56 due to poor planning / strategy at the start of my game. Anyways — I’ve googled and I’ve searched high and low on Reddit in the deepest crevices for any hidden or hard to find quests or locations and from what I can tell, I’ve done ‘em all. Or the notable ones that aren’t just “bring 10 bear hides to so and so”. I’m not unwilling to do those quests, but I know it’ll be very quick and not very rewarding. Like I literally have a notebook going with running lists of things to find and quests to do but I’m crossing these off very quickly… so with that being said – any quests you can think of to suggest? Should I start a new game and be more strategic this time? Should I replay Oblivion but modded? Thoughts?
I love u all Bye

2023.06.07 01:37 backblastnotclear F-Type vs Maserati GT vs XKR
Okay, i want to preface this with: I am a car enthusiast. I love all things cars and all cars in their own quirky ways, even the Honda Element and PT Cruiser. Also, I had a 2015 F-Type v6 for around 55k miles before it was aggresively taken from my existence by a UHAUL that ran a red light. I am a shade tree mechanic (extra emphasis on the shade-y) and do basically all of my own work. Ive had a Veloster N, Mini JCW, Miata, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, Ram SRT10 and currently own a Jeep XJ, and a Kia Forte GT. I am nit scared of doing most all work myself, save sone of the more complicated engine rebuilds.
With all that, which one do I get? I loved the F Type and so did my partner, but I am a whore for the XKR and GT as well. The Ferarri v8 sounds orchestral, but Jaguar is no slouch. Performance wise, I dont mind amhave a base model 340hp F Type. I dont race everyone, but love the pick up. The one thing I remember is the v6 F type REALLY struggled at the top end of the RPM range to gain much more power, while the v8 engines obviously maintain that power through the rev range.
Honestly im babbling and need help. Out of the three, can you list your pros and cons to them, and what you would choose?
Im looking around a 2014 Maserati GT, 2015-16 F-Type, or a 2012-2014 XKR
Please send help, I am a lost soul with a choice for only one.

2023.06.07 01:37 WhiteGuineaPig Why Dedede is a good main.
A lot of people put Dedede as low tier, but this is why he is at least mid.
Though statistically, he's a Home Depot bucket of lard, he moves like one, which is not a lot. He also hits like a Tonka Truck.
In practice, he's a tank that's blaring Funky Town. He has mind games like no other and has crazy aerials to boot. His vertically recover is absurd for a super heavy, with decent horizontal recovery.
His best ability is ledge trapping, letting you piss off your opponent even more, making them screw up more.
Finally, big hammer.
That's all, have a good day, and may the Lord Dedede rest in your heart.

2023.06.07 01:36 BasicMasterpiece2763 I feel lost
I’ve been struggling for a long time, im 19f, sometimes when im thinking or writing in my journal i will write about how im depressed, but then other times i think im being overdramatic, that i am just pitying my self and i need to stop being a baby and grow up. But its been hard, im not suicidal, but i am not happy. And i havent bern happy for a long time, recently I feel like its getting worse again, sometimes i worry maybe I have what my father has, bipolar, he also has just always been very depressed and has a lot of anxiety, I think i have a lot of anxiety too. Sometimes im motivated and I will do so much and others times its just so hard and so overwhelming. I’ve struggled with certain thoughts and issues since id say atleast the 6th grade, i have my ups and downs but i feel like even when its up, when im being productive and enjoying things more there just this background of feeling like i will never truly be happy, i tried a therapist last year didn’t last long it made me feel like shit week after week when we would talk and she would ask me what i had worked on/done, and i would have to tell her nothing. I started going to the gyn and that made me happy but this year has been overwhelming, i work 6 days a week and im trying to start my own business and balance my time between that and my boyfriend. I have no friends. Just one. I feel like my life is just work and cleaning. Im quitting my job. Found a job with less hours. Which i really dont even feel like doing. Work feels so hard, im miserable when im there and i used to not mind it. Im also starting college in the fall. Im hoping having more time and working less will calm me and help me manage my time better. Recently its just been getting worse. I cried like 4 times yesterday, ive been crying every other day. I feel like im disconnected from my self. From who i want to be, it doesn’t feel like I’m living, i get these days where everything just feels numb, and theres just sadness. I don’t know whats better actually feeling it and hurting or just that feeling of numbness and hopelessness. I think i should see a therapist i had a drs appointment and i answered some questions, they said based of my answers it seems like I’m depressed and gave me a list of therapist, i cried in my car after. It made me even sadder that i hadn’t answered the questions honestly, I sugar coated and made it seem better than it was. Because i didn’t want a uncomfortable conversation. Now im so worried about how this will affect my relationship, i feel like im too much to deal with. And that he doesn’t deserve to have to deal with my in my moods all the time. I just feel sad and hopeless.

2023.06.07 01:36 OneCoolBlerd Choosing Coding Classes - Teaching Kids Coding Isn't Enough Anymore
Hey everyone!
I've looked at quite a few coding for kids/homeschool topics on reddit lately, this sub included. And I don't agree with some of the approaches or advice on introducing kids to code.
It's not enough to teach kids coding if you want to prepare them for the future job market. There are a lot of free resources that can help, but they often need more going beyond the code. Some paid resources aren't worth the money because they barely cover code, let alone any extras.
And honestly, many parents need to be more knowledgeable about the space to create the best custom packages. So they get discouraged or neg others trying to help or guide their kid down a different path. Homeschoolers can have an advantage in the tech industry based on their self-direction, critical thinking, and other qualities that come naturally from homeschooling (I'm biased, but I'm sure there's overlap).
I'll share a few questions to think about when researching coding programs at the end of this.
I'm by no means the end all be all of the tech industry, but I hope to start a discussion where I can answer questions and help if possible. Or at least be a connection to someone/something that can answer your questions. I'll share a simple way.
Warning lengthy post ahead It's been a few years since I've posted in this group, so let me get a few things about my intentions out of the way so this can be a productive conversation. Feel free to skip the list if you aren't one of those skeptics that ruin great discussions with intent questions or "this is a scam" comments.
- I was homeschooled from 5th grade until college (I did drop out of high school for a bit in protest of not going to traditional, but that's another story). And I've multiple styles of homeschooling, from unschooling to structured curriculum to correspondence lessons (we lived in rural places at one point, so online was too expensive).
- I got a GED, an undergrad in math, an MS in Computer Science, and a PhD in Computer Systems Engineering by my mid-20s. I've done freelancing, consulting, and careehomeschool coaching over the last 7 years. I also have over 5 years of experience teaching or tutoring coding classes.
- Yes, I have a paid self-guided online coding camp/mentorship program. No, I'm not posting to promote it here. If you're interested, you can message me privately, but that is not the point of this post.
- Yes, I have a Youtube, but again, the point of this post is not to promote it. Message me privately if you care about that.
- No, I'm not a regular poster on Reddit, and when I have, it's usually to promote some project because I usually just lurk.
- Yes, this post is genuine because of what I've been reading online and the personal conversations I've been having recently. There's a discussion to be had where I can help clarify some things.
Actual post starting I want to start by opening two points, then let the conversation go where it goes:
- Why coding isn't enough/where I believe the industry is going
- Free vs. Paid Options
Why isn't teaching kids coding enough? I'm not old enough to have experienced this, but my older cousins have described a time in the 90s when you good 2 or 3 times minimum wage just by knowing how to use Microsoft Word. It was so new and rare.
Today, knowing how to use Microsoft Office is expected. The same is going to be true for coding.
When your homeschooler hits the job market, coding will probably be as common as knowing PowerPoint.
A future of tech jobs will be knowing how to filter and piece technical information together to solve problems.
Lots of coding for kids programs put together fun mini-projects for students but need to teach kids how to continue growing technically independently. They need sustainable next steps.
They also need to help students understand their career options besides getting a job. A large number of homeschoolers end up starting businesses.
Coding/tech is a perfect space for homeschooled kids to try freelancing or start their own company because a lot of it can be low cost.
I'm not saying every kid learning code needs to start their own business, but kids should know it's possible.
Free vs. Paid Options Now we get to the free vs. paid portion. As I mentioned earlier, choosing whether or not to pay for a coding curriculum isn't black or white. It depends on your goals, budget, and child (I know, Captain Obvious).
I'll share a few scenarios of how I would approach choosing free vs. paid programs. If you have a different scenario, share it in a reply. Then, I'll share a framework I think every parent should consider when considering a plan.
When would I choose to go with a *paid** coding program*
I'd go with a paid option if my child showed a genuine and consistent interest in creating software. And my child was at least 10 years old. I would like at it as a similar investment in my child's future as piano lessons or sports training.
This program should be project-based, include a grading service, and have some regularly scheduled live sessions.
There are a lot of ways to solve problems with code correctly. Not initially, but a good program should transition your child to creating more and more of their own solutions. To do this, kids will need someone who will take the time to understand your kid's thought process and provide steps to correct how they think about the problem. It is a different experience from just being shown the answer or looking at an answer key.
I would also look for soft skills training and some career planning resources. Things like how to work on a coding team, how those projects are structured, how to find good mentors, and how to get paid or unpaid internships. I might even want this paid version to provide me with a coding mentor my child could talk to a few times.
I also expect this program to provide us with clear next steps for my student once the program is done. This may be the next class in a progression of classes, a certification, a job (paid, part-time, or internship), and or a roadmap entrepreneurship/freelancing.
When would I choose to go with a *free** coding program*
I would choose free coding programs if I aimed to introduce my child to see if they were interested in coding enough to invest in it.
Here I would want a program that covers structural basics, projects related to things my child cares about, an answer key or auto-grading system, and a series of lessons.
If my child was under 10, I'm looking for visual blocks programming lessons like on SCRATCH or some offline assignments that use physical items to teach problem-solving/logic. I would ensure my child learned key terms and design or system thinking.
If my child is 10 and older, starting with visual block programming is ok, but the lessons must move toward a text-based language like Python, JavaScript, or Java. I suggest Python first because it is easier for new coders to quickly understand and implement early concepts. It's like learning to speak English before worrying about all the technical rules behind how it works.
The free coding program challenge A challenge in using many free/low-cost coding programs for kids is that the projects don't always teach kids to go off and create their own problem-solving projects. Kids will sometimes only learn to copy and paste or get good at doing that one project but do not understand the process of expanding that project. They don't learn how to continue to grow as developers.
This point is where
parents will need to do the legwork to find additional resources and mentors for their child. Bonus points if that coding mentor looks like your child or comes from a similar cultural background. Many studies support that if we see someone we feel "looks, talks, walks" as we do, we are more likely to believe we can do it too.
Lastly, I need to figure out the next steps for my child before they even start the coding program. I won't want to lose momentum if they get excited about coding. These steps could be free resources, a paid program, or a paid program because I now know my child is interested based on the free program.
Framework/questions for parents As promised, here's my framework for any parent or homeschool group leader looking to create a coding program for their kids. Then, questions I would ask when evaluating a program.
Framework is called
ACRES.
A -
Ask questions - Discover local computer science resources
C -
Categorize - Group like resources and identify hidden access challenges
R -
Reach out and select - Contact experts and select the best options for your community.
E -
Educate - Hold your program, include soft skills training, and educate your parents
S -
Sustain - Ensure student success by pointing them to vetted resources for their next steps
11 questions I would ask myself - What's my goal for finding a coding program for my kid?
- How serious/self-directed is my child when interested in new topics?
- What's my max budget for this each month?
- Does this program teach basic coding concepts and have a progression of courses/lessons?
- What are the testimonials for this program?
- Does this program provide grading/parent support?
- Do I have possible coding mentors in my circle? Or is that something I need to pay fofind?
- Which programming language is this program going to use?
- Will this program teach my kid soft skills that apply to the tech industry?
- Will this program expose my child to tech entrepreneurship, internships, and jobs? Or do I want to handle that exposure myself?
- Does this program have instructors, coaches, or mentors reflecting my child's culture?
Ok, I'm off my soapbox now.
Are there any questions or concerns? Do you agree? Or disagree?
Is there something I didn't cover that you wished I had? Or that is unique to your situation?
Happy to continue the discussion.

2023.06.07 01:35 Orfevre-08 About Sanji asks Robin for help
I think it’s really a development for Sanji In previous arcs, Sanji is always the person who wanted to sacrifice himself In Baratie, he wanted to sacrifice for Zeff In drum island, he sacrificed him for Luffy and Nami In Water 7, he was on the train for Robin himself In thriller bark, he tried to sacrifice for other SH In WCI, he wanted to sacrifice for SH and Zeff I think one reason (not all for sure) is he really looked down on himself, thought other SH more valuable than him, he can sacrifice himself for other SH but didn’t want him to put them in danger by any chance But in WCI, Luffy told him he is valuable, he is one of the most importants, “I cannot become pirate king without you”, “why he (Judge) list all your goods” So we can see he changed in Wano at this point
I don’t think Sanji cannot handle woman is a problem. Already in Arlong park, Luffy said “I can’t use sword, can’t cook, can’t navigate, can’t lie. I believe I can’t live without help.” So same for Sanji, he doesn’t need to beat woman if he doesn’t want to, other SH will help him

2023.06.07 01:35 Telarant 35 [M4F] MA - Looking to make some new friends
So the title pretty much gets the gist of things across. Looking to add some people to my friends list that I can chat with on a regular basis. I'm a pretty nerdy type of person, and up front can be a bit on the more quiet and reserved side, but once I'm more comfortable and get a good read on someone, I open up quite a bit.
I'm in the EST time zone, and am around from 7ish when I wake up in the morning, until typically around midnight, so if you're around during that window, you qualify! Since it's a factor for some people, I am single, but I have no preference on your status. As far as type of people, I'm open to any and all walks of life, ages, etc. As far as what I'm after, chat buddies, friendships, flirtationships, just however things work out, it's all good!

2023.06.07 01:35 hazyhummingbird What are you buying this EOFY?
I know all of our emails are starting to getting inundated with EOFY sales.
Have you been waiting see if a piece will go on sale before buying? Any brands you’re keeping a close eye on this year? Finally can justify a wish list item?
For me:
— Oroton (Inez Bag, thanks to everyone who replied to my thread! I’m so happy about this because it’s an extra 20% off now!)
— Assembly Label. Nothing in particular, I’m just keeping my eye out for anything decent
— ASOS for fun or basics
— I need a decent pair of petite pants so I’ve been furiously window shopping to much disappointment, hoping I can find something
— Alien by Mugler. I know it never goes on sale but I can dream…
What about you?

Hello everyone, I'm here to share a project I've been working for the past day - a 'Dogs In Danger Daily' Twitter Bot! 🤖🐶
Apologies in advance if this is not an appropriate post for this subreddit
What it does: It scrapes data from DogsInDanger.com and posts a random dog in danger of euthanization, raising awareness and increasing the chances of adoption. It grabs the location of the adoption center and includes appropriate hashtags to give Twitter users who live in the state a higher chance to view.
It also posts every few hours a memorial tribute to a fallen dog (name and picture), who never got the chance to a better life.
DogsDangerDaily Twitter Why I created the bot: As an animal lover, it pains me to see countless dogs in shelters with uncertain futures. Determined to help anyway I can, I channeled my passion for programming to create this twitter bot. As a junior developer, I have troubles finding valuable project ideas and figured something like this not only helps me grow my skills but can help make a difference.
My mission and seeking support: I genuinely believe that every small effort counts. If you're also passionate about animal welfare, I'd greatly appreciate your support—be it feedback, suggestions, or even spreading the word.
By joining forces, we can make a tangible impact in giving these voiceless creatures the love and care they deserve. 💙
Thank you for taking the time to read about my project
GitHub repo: https://github.com/floscar12/dogs-in-danger-twitter-bot/tree/main A big thank you goes to DogsInDanger.com: DogsInDanger.com is an award winning website founded by two dog lovers. The website was launched in October 2007 with the goal of: Getting as many of these dogs adopted into loving homes as possible, before their time runs out; and Raising awareness of the number of dogs being killed in shelters. The co-founders dedicated their respective skills and the shelters list the dogs. The founders have many more ideas to implement, all aimed at eradicating the needless killing of those we call our best friends.

2023.06.07 01:33 optixillusion Stopping Door-to-Door Political Solicitation (by name)?
Is there a way to remove yourself from whatever mailing lists / campaign databases that have campaign people showing up at your house? I just had someone knock on my door and ask for me by name to get my opinion on a candidate.
I haven't joined into any mailing lists or opted into any campaign calls or anything, and I understand that "tis the season" and all that jazz with the election coming up, but the fact that Random Stranger had my name and my address, and showed up unannounced, gave me a case of the heebie-jeebies (and left me feeling weirded out about the candidate overall if that's one of her tactics).
Anyone know any ways to, like, remove yourself from whatever lists these folks have to stop that stuff from happening in the future? (Ideally getting removed from all correspondence entirely would be great, but at this point I've just accepted it as an inevitability, so stopping any future house calls is my main priority.)

2023.06.07 01:32 propheticperfumes Three Arcana Wildcraft Reviews 🔮🌲💝
Hello you lovely flower petals and dew drops! I figured now would be a great time to post some Arcana reviews I’ve been working on since they are currently having a special 3 + bonus 1 FS sale going on, in case some of these scents are ones that you might have been hedging about!
Frigg 🐑🧶
Description: Black tonka bean, raw cashmere wool, French bakery vanilla, soft warm skin, confectionery sugar, and sweet almond.
On skin: I’ve noticed a trend where Arcana scents need a solid minute to settle on my skin before they bloom properly, and this one is no different. Upon immediate application, there’s a very sharp smell, almost like an expo marker, but despite my worry, this quickly fades out. Then, I get the the most magical wool accord I have ever smelled. Like, I can practically feel the wool tufts fresh from a goat as I sniff. It’s extremely comforting, and made even cozier by a very warm vanilla, the creamy tonka bean, and what I’m sure is the skin musk. But what really makes this scent extra special for me is the sweetness from the sugar and almond notes. It’s not cloying or overwhelming, but the added sugary layer helps set this scent apart as not just another ‘my skin but better’ scent.
Overall thoughts: In case you couldn’t tell, I absolutely adore this! Added to my ever growing list of favorite scents for sure. It’s like Julia went to her magical perfume cauldron, though ‘hmmm, what would be the perfect snuggly calm down scent?’ and created this. I’ve been wearing this to sleep a lot to combat bad dreams, and also just whenever I need a dose of cozy. Do not sleep on this scent (sleep with it on instead)! FYI, this is currently still available, but will be coming down alongside the rest of the Hel’s Belles collection at the end of this month.
Electra 🎀🍨
Description: Pink carnation petal ice cream, Mexican bakery vanilla, eggnog, sweet cinnamon, and nutmeg.
On skin: There’s a burst of carnation petals from first sniff; the carnation note here is very realistic, and is a bit too strong for me for just a minute until the perfume settles onto my skin. It’s a very true-to-life spicy pink floral note, with a very creamy aspect (which I’m guessing is whatever is in the ice cream and eggnog accords), though I wouldn’t actually call this an ice cream scent, more like a sweet and creamy scent. The spices are also very prevalent but never veer into candle territory and do not irritate my nose and skin (which cinnamon can sometimes do to me). I actually really love the dry down stage where everything has mostly settled into a delicious vanilla haze that is surprisingly not at all cloying and is rather warm and cozy. That Mexican bakery vanilla note is absolutely gorgeous!
Overall thoughts: I was a bit wary that either the ice cream or eggnog notes in this would turn sour lactonic on me, or that the spices would be overwhelming, but I’m delighted by the success of this scent on my skin! I can absolutely see myself wearing this a lot in the winter. I’m also very impressed with how this manages to be a sweet scent without being too saccharine. This is what a spring fairy would smell like as they bundle up to visit their friend in the winter realms. Currently still available on the website, though the sample sizes are sold out.
The Righteous Uterus 🫚🌲
Description: A power blend of fresh ginger root, bergamot peel, black vanilla, spruce branches, balsam of Peru, and sparkling water rests on a base of unbreakable sandalwood and corporeal amber.
On skin: This is super well-blended, and a lot of these notes are ones that I normally don’t wear, so I’m having trouble describing it, but I’ll try my best! I thought this would spell spicy from the ginger root, but it’s not at all; instead this gives the vibe of ginger ale, which I’m guessing is the combination of ginger root, bergamot peel, and sparkling water, though it’s not actually very aldehyde-ish to my nose (which I personally am glad for). The scent isn’t sweet, that black vanilla is very much not a gourmand vanilla, but it adds some depth. The best aspect of this scent for by far though, is when the woody notes and amber come out to play. I’ve said it before, but I think Arcana has the most amazing coniferous tree scents, and this is no exception.
Overall thoughts: If my earlier description was confusing to you (understandable!), my more subjective, but perhaps more informative assessment of this scent is that it gives off the vibe of a side quest to find a rare healing herb in the forest. Or maybe that’s even more confusing, in which, case my apologies! As I said earlier, these are not notes I would normally go for, but this perfume was, in fact, a generously included surprise freebie in my order! Thank you so much to Julia for this treat, because I am actually very surprised by how much I like it. It’s both bracing and soothing, and I have been wearing this on occasions where I feel unwell but still want a bit of scent (such as, fittingly enough, during cycle issues). This perfume is currently available as a relic on the website, and I do believe that a portion of sales for it goes to support a charity for women’s rights, which is an added bonus!
I hope this was at least somewhat helpful! I’ll be picking up some samples from their newest Night Tripping Fairies release (I would have gotten their Four Nights scent if it came in a sample size for sure based on how much I love Frigg!), so hopefully thoughts on those will be up in the future. As always, please take care of yourselves.

2023.06.07 01:32 shypye Reddit is effectively shutting down ALL third party apps: What this means for r/Modesto going forward.
Hey all,
As you've probably heard by now, a couple of days ago Reddit announced some policy changes which will result in most, if not all, third-party mobile apps - such as Apollo, BaconReader, Reddit is Fun (RIF), Sync, etc. - unable to continue functioning.
Even if you're not a mobile user or don't use any third-party apps at all, you'll likely still feel the impact of this change. Many of the most active users across Reddit – the ones who provide much of the content – use third-party apps and web browser extensions. These actions of financially locking users and developers out of the API, is unlikely to be the last. This may also be a step towards removing other ways of customizing one's Reddit experience, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite, or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators across all of Reddit depend on tools only available outside the official app to be able to moderate. Without these tools, it will be difficult for many users to access reddit.
For the visually impaired, the decision is disastrous as the official apps are inferior or even unusable compared to the various third-party mobile apps available today.
On June 12th, subreddits across the site will begin either going private, setting the subreddit to read-only mode, or closing down indefinitely or entirely. As of this posting, the mod team here have decided to go dark in solidarity with the rest of the participating communities, and wanted to alert you to this situation beforehand.
While we still have a chance to change Reddit's decision, I urge each one of you to become educated on this issue and how it will affect you and the site as a whole. You can read more about it at
/modcoord or
/Save3rdPartyApps I hope you will understand why this matters to each of us. The subreddits listed above include recommendations for actions users and moderators can take.
You can start by signing the
open letter from all of us to the reddit admins.

2023.06.07 01:31 acemiller6 MVIS Green Gang Bus
Hey fellow MicroVision-aries. Its been a long few years since the last sneeze when we saw the stock shoot up well over $20. Since then its been a long slow bleed, all the way down to the most recent bottom a little over a month ago. Because of that, many of us were deeply in the red on our investments (I was down 70% at one point). But as the stock price has exploded over the past few weeks many of us have been made whole and our daily thread has been filled with members mentioning that they are now no longer underwater on their investments. I am one of those folks who finally got made whole... I got on the bus at $2.93 (I'm up to $2.99 after a purchase today). Now I'm driving the bus...and I've been enjoying picking people up along the way.
After a few days of people celebrating, I started keeping a list whenever someone mentioned their cost basis in the daily thread and commenting when I pick people up, but its hard to keep track of everyone. So with the blessing of the mods, I'm creating this post to track anyone who wants to let me know their basis (or publicly proclaimed it already). I don't need to know your share count, but I think its fun to celebrate with everyone when we blow past their basis and they get on the bus.
If I've pulled your info from the daily threads and you don't want it here, let me know and I'll remove it. So without further ado, here's the list I have so far.
The bus is coming to get you... we leave no man (or woman) behind!
