2023.06.06 23:09 willkode A template to follow when working with AI to generate content

Hello everyone,
Over the past six months, I've dedicated my focus to exploring the capabilities of AI, specifically ChatGPT, to understand its limitations and discover ways to integrate it into my daily workflow as an SEO professional. The goal was to leverage AI to streamline and expedite my tasks. I must say, I've been thoroughly impressed with the results I've achieved, and I'm excited to share my insights and strategies with my fellow SEO experts here.
It's worth mentioning that my approach involved a process of iterative learning. I would make requests to ChatGPT and carefully analyze the generated content. Whenever I encountered sections that didn't meet my expectations, I provided feedback to the AI, explaining why it fell short and what improvements I desired. In instances where I encountered specific challenges, I would articulate the issues to ChatGPT and ask for guidance on how to instruct it more effectively next time. Remarkably, the AI provided invaluable insights and suggestions that greatly enhanced my understanding of optimizing my instructions.
In this particular example, my focus has been on harnessing the power of ChatGPT to generate high-quality articles. I discovered that simply asking it to "write me an article about XYZ" often yielded generic or rudimentary results. However, I delved deeper to uncover the best approach to format my instructions for optimal outcomes. This is the methodology I'm currently refining and implementing.
Through this journey, I've come to appreciate the tremendous potential of AI in content creation and how it can revolutionize our industry. By effectively communicating our expectations and providing clear feedback, we can harness the AI's capabilities to produce exceptional and tailored content.
In the spirit of collaboration, I will be sharing my learnings and strategies on this platform, providing valuable insights to fellow SEO professionals who are interested in leveraging AI to enhance their content creation process. Together, we can unlock the full potential of AI and redefine the boundaries of what's possible in our field.
Stay tuned for my upcoming posts, where I'll dive deeper into the intricacies of optimizing instructions to get the best possible results from ChatGPT. Let's explore the exciting frontier of AI-powered content generation and elevate our SEO practices to new heights.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get the best result when requesting an article, it's helpful to provide a clear and structured template that outlines the specific sections and key points you want the article to cover. Here's a recommended template you can follow:
Keywords & Keyword Placement: List out the keywords you want to include, and where you want them included, as an example I'll list my keywords out like this "keywords in the title: Example keyword",
Title: Start with a clear and catchy title that reflects the main topic or focus of the article. Make it engaging to attract readers' attention.
Introduction: Begin with an introductory paragraph that sets the tone and provides an overview of the article. Hook the reader with an interesting fact, anecdote, or question related to the topic.
Background/Context: Provide some background information or context to help readers understand the subject matter. Explain why it is relevant, important, or timely.
Main Sections/Points: Break down the body of the article into several sections, each focusing on a specific point or subtopic. Use subheadings to clearly indicate these sections. Include key information, supporting evidence, examples, and actionable tips or insights.
Conclusion: Summarize the main points covered in the article and emphasize the key takeaways or conclusions. End with a thought-provoking statement or a call to action.
Call to Action: Provide a clear goal that you want to achieve, such as a CTA that will encourage users to click a button, fill out a form, or place a phone call
References/Links: If applicable, include references or links to credible sources that support the information presented in the article. This helps build credibility and allows readers to explore the topic further.
Author Bio/About the Company: If desired, include a brief author bio or a section about your company at the end of the article. This can provide credibility and give readers more information about the expertise behind the content.
By providing a clear template that outlines the structure and key elements you want in the article, you help ensure that the final result meets your expectations and delivers the desired information effectively. Additionally, be sure to communicate any specific requirements, tone preferences, or target audience details to further tailor the article to your needs.
Its extremely important to review the output, check it for inaccuraies and of course manually inserting links. There will always be tweaks.
Looking forward to any feedback and questions.

2023.06.06 21:35 tinytyler12345 This subreddit will be going dark on June 12th in protest of Reddit's recent changes.

Hey dudes,
We've got an important announcement that will affect everyone who enjoys this community. The moderators of this subreddit have decided to join ModCord. We plan to make our subreddit private in solidarity with many other subreddits as a protest against a recent decision made by Reddit. This includes many front page subreddits, like videos and aww. We will remain privatized until Reddit reverses their decision, however long that may take.
As you may be aware, Reddit recently announced a policy change that will have far-reaching consequences for third-party mobile apps and tools. The price increase for accessing Reddit's API will effectively eliminate beloved applications such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun, Narwhal, Boost, and BaconReader, along with affecting other means of customizing Reddit, including the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface and the Reddit Enhancement Suite.
This change not only affects users who rely on these third-party apps for enhanced features and quality-of-life improvements, but it also impacts subreddit moderators who depend on external tools to maintain the integrity of their communities. These tools have been instrumental in keeping our discussions on-topic and our subreddit free from spam.
We understand that this decision may be met with mixed feelings among our community members. Going private is not a step we take lightly, but we firmly believe it is necessary to express our concerns and protect the values that have made JustGuysBeingDudes a thriving and engaging space.
By going private, we aim to raise awareness about the potential consequences of Reddit's policy change and the negative impact it could have on our subreddit and others like it. We hope to send a strong message to Reddit's administration, urging them to reconsider their decision and engage in meaningful dialogue with the community.
We invite each and every one of you to stand with us in protest.
  1. Stay informed: Keep an eye on updates from JustGuysBeingDudes and other participating subreddits. We will provide updates throughout the protest period, sharing any developments and actions that arise. We will still be around to respond to messages, comments and modmail through this process. You may also message us on our official (albeit basic) Discord server.
  2. Spread the word: Share the news about our subreddit going private with your fellow Redditors, friends, and anyone who might be interested. Engage in discussions on related subreddits, and use your social media platforms to make some noise in support of our cause. Having the media on our side will be crucial for this to work.
  3. Contact Reddit: Reach out to the administrators of Reddit by messaging the reddit administrators or directly contacting reddit. Express your concerns and share your thoughts on the policy change. Additionally, consider leaving a negative review on Reddit's official iOS or Android app to make your voice heard.
  4. Be respectful: While this decision may be frustrating, it's important to maintain a respectful and civil tone. Threats, profanity, and vandalism will only detract from our cause and hinder the support we are trying to gather. Harrassing the Admins won't do anything, if you want to help, don't do it.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to us through modmail or join us coordination sub, ModCoord.
Sincerely,
The Moderators of JustGuysBeingDudes.

2023.06.06 21:07 A_Username_What_Else The New AI Developments Are Making Me Suicidal

TLDR: AI is replacing my special interest as an artist and I believe AI programs are going to plunge us into an even worse dystopia. I am feeling dead inside.
I want to preface this all by making it clear that I will NEVER end my own life. Yes, I may feel like doing it, but I ultimately never will as there are far to many people in my life who would be destroyed if I did.
Introduction
Who am I? I’m a 20 year old lady with mild autism. I am an artist and have known since I was little. I have been working to improve my skills for so many years and am currently in university studying animation. Art and animation are the only things I am really good at. My autism makes life mostly unenjoyable. My art has been the one thing keeping me going all these years.
The Problem
You have all definitely heard of AI art generators by now. I was shocked when Dall-E 2 was unveiled in April last year. We all thought AI could never be creative or make art. Yet all these creative AI’s pretty much came out of nowhere in quick succession last year. Mid journey, chatgpt, stable diffusion, text to video programs, you name it. It just happened all at once.
My concerns should be obvious. These AI systems can make art and even write stories. They can do it at lightning speed and at the cost of electricity. This puts anyone who writes or draws for a living in a terrible position. Companies and individuals will surely go for the quicker, cheaper option. Even if it is slightly worse in quality.
My autism would make getting any other job an actual nightmare so I have been incredibly disheartened by these developments. Not to mention that many creatives are like me and are on the spectrum too. They are often socially awkward and find regular life difficult. Many of them will have their entire future’s ruined by these systems.
I still find it hard to believe that art of all things is getting automated. Art, writing and more. All the creative tasks are getting taken from us. Sure, they can still be hobbies. But that just leaves us with more soul crushing work. And not to mention that future generations will have it even worse. Why would anyone want to bring kids into such a depressing world where all the things we enjoy are monopolized and automated?
A Dystopian Future
Not to mention the other, possibly worse side effects of this new technology. AI voices, videos and images are getting better every week. Imagine how easy it will be to generate a fake video of someone doing or saying something horrible that they didn’t do. And the technology will likely be so good in just a few years that we will have no way of knowing if it’s fake or not. Sounds like the worst kind of dystopia. Some people may doubt that the tech will ever get that good. Well we never thought that AI would be able to creat art, yet here we are. Just look at how much AI images have improved since April of last year. Or heck, 3 months ago!
But back to job/purpose loss. This worries me just as much as the paragraph above. Art is the only thing I have really ever excelled at. And I am now realizing that I probably won’t be able to make it my career. Yes, I do animation so that probably has a while longer. But at the rate the tech is progressing I wouldn’t be surprised if AI takes over animation and VFX in under 10 years.
Where I’m At
I am not exaggerating when I say I am crushed. Truly this time though. I have been through many things that destroyed my spirit, it’s pretty much guaranteed for people on the spectrum. I was bullied my entire childhood, denied being able to be in a relationship due to my sensory issues, isolated from society and more. Yet the one thing that kept me hopeful was being able to show the world my art and make a living off it.
And now it’s gone.
Now anyone can have top tier skill. Anyone can generate anything in any style. Even if I make a new style, someone can just feed my drawings into a machine and infinitely clone them. My skill doesn’t matter anymore. The one thing I truly had going for me is basically worthless. And if not now, in a few years. I have no purpose anymore. I feel worthless. Even though I have more friends and family that love me then most people, I feel worthless now. Even if there is still room for human artists, we simply can’t keep up with the speed AI produces stuff. We will be drowned out by AI works.
I knew I would likely never make big bucks by pursuing art and animation. Unless you run a massive studio you don’t get mega rich. But I knew I could earn enough to comfortably live off my work. With things like YouTube and Patreon it seemed feasible as long as I worked to become good enough. I wanted to start doing commissions online. I wasn’t expecting to get rich, but I was so excited and happy to get started. Then this all happened. I already see many artists online talking about how they’ve lost their jobs or how nobody commissions them anymore.
People often ask the question "Where would you be and what would you be doing if money didn't exist?". Well, the life I had planned out WAS what I would be doing if money had no value.
To be honest, I don't like where the world in general is going. We're spied on every moment of our lives, people are being increasingly fake and we can't provide for our families. Then there's cancel culture, political correctness, wokeness, decaying attention spans and instant gratification. All of which didn't really exist just a few years ago.
Questions You May Have
I want to dedicate a section to answering some questions I can see people having for me as to clear up any confusion.
“You’re Being Dramatic”
I can see why someone might think that. But imagine if you’re entire purpose and passion suddenly became pretty much worthless and you had to face the rest of your life without it. Seriously, imagine it. You’d be devastated. Also, all the things I’ve mentioned here either already have happened or are likely to happen.
“AI will never be as good as human artists”
Maybe it will never be as good as the top 1% but it’s already better then most artists out there. And if it’s this good now then imagine where it’ll be in 5-10 years. Not to mention that even if it is slightly worse, most people will chose it over a human artist simply due to the speed and cost.
”You Must Adapt And Use The AI’s In Your Workflow”
I will. I will do anything to keep my dream alive. I’ve played around with various AI tools to enhance my workflow. But in doing so, the enjoyment is gone and my original visions destroyed. Not to mention that AI will dramatically devalue all creative works, so I may not be able to earn enough to keep doing art as a career.
“These Are Just New Tools”
Maybe now, but they’re already replacing tons of artists, voice actors and more. Also, the end game for these ‘tools’ is to completely remove the need for any skill or talent. An AI image generator makes all the decisions for you, while you type in a text prompt. These systems are replacements, not tools. If you were a brick layer you wouldn’t see a brick laying machine as a tool. You would see it as a replacement.
"You Only Care About Making Money"
Read the part where I went over this. Yes, I am afraid of not being able to make a career off art. But I'm also scared of not being able to get noticed and having my work devalued. If everyone's an amazing artist, nobody is. Also, my parents are wealthy enough to be able to comfortably support me and my two siblings for the rest of our lives. But I don't want this. I WANT to work hard and feel accomplished for doing so. And These AI systems take that away.
“We Can Fight The Companies Developing These AI’s”
Sure, but what will that achieve? The technology is out there and it won’t go away. Even if every government in the world banned these AI’s overnight then they would still be developed in secret. I know some people are suing AI art generators over copyright infringement for using their art to train the AI’s. I personally do not see the court systems ruling in favor of the artists. It will most likely be seen as fair use.
“There Will Always Be A Place For Human Made Art”
I do agree on this. One tiny positive is that physical art such as paintings and sculptures may have a resurgence due to digital art being devalued. But this will likely be a tiny niche.
“This Is Just Like NFT’s”
No it’s not. Everyone knew from the beginning how stupid NFT’s were. We knew they were a pyramid scheme destined to collapse. And they did. AI art and their similar tools are not something that’s going to go away. They are rapidly developing and getting better. They’re going to be more and more widely used in the future.
”You Only Care When Your Own Job Is Being Replaced”
Not true. I have felt very sorry for those who’s jobs have or are being automated. When I first heard of self driving cars I immediately felt dread for truck drivers and anyone in a similar position. I actually will go out of my way to not use the self service checkout in order to help keep the store employees employed.
”Do You Hate AI Bro’s?”
No. I don’t hate anyone who uses or is excited about this new tech. I can totally see their perspectives and we shouldn’t dogpile them. My issues lie with the developers of this technology and the people online saying “LOL GO DIE IN A FIRE ARTISTS! YOU’RE WORTHLESS NOW!”. You’re allowed to love this tech, but actively routing for someone’s downfall is very horrible and childish. I wouldn’t think anything bad of any group of people who were about to have their professions made obsolete.
Conclusion
I am truly broken this time.
I don’t see this getting better. We are entering into an even bigger dystopia then before. I have never felt more hopeless then I do now. I’m only 20 and I’m tired. My spirit has officially been crushed. And yet I’m meant to stay in this game for another 60+ years.
I have been depressed before in life, but this has made me completely suicidal. Never before have I actually felt like ending my life. Yet this has pushed me over the edge. Though I will ultimately never do it.
I want nothing more then to wake up and for this technology to be gone. I would do anything to go back to even just 2021 when it seemed like these systems didn't exist. How I wish technology wouldn't have 'progressed' past that point.
All of us now just happened to be unlucky enough to be born into the most boring dystopia. I have no idea how to find happiness or purpose in any of this. But I will continue living because what else can I do?
If anyone has any questions or wants to discuss things then I will answer them.

Summer is cancelled and Icewind Dale is screwed unless you can figure out what the hell is going on...

Hello, my friends! My name is Alex. I've run this campaign twice before and I'm pretty excited to see what kind of horrible wackiness we can get up to this time around! This will be an above average experience if I can help it and I hope to make tons of friends along the way! If you're into roleplaying, jokes, subversion of expectation, mystery, whimsy, or simply "clownin' around", if you like Dimension 20 or anything Brennan Lee Mulligan or Emily Axford does, or if you're looking for a D&D game with a mix of goofy, weird, stupid, and serious with a splash of storytelling pizzazz, then this is the game for you!!!I recognize that this is supposed to be an overall serious campaign, and it is, don't get me wrong! But I'm a pretty wacky guy and this game will lean less on the harsh atmosphere and more into the interconnected story threads, personal plots if they arise, and the fear that something more powerful than you could be hiding around any corner. Utilizing Foundry VTT, I've been able to enhance the adventure with musical themes and sound effects for most scenes, automation, and animations for tons of spells, quest tracking, and several leveled maps with dynamically changing walls, lighting, and 3d vision calculation!
Icewind Dale Player Commercial
Let me tell you a bit about myself, though...
I come from a writing, directing, and video production background and have been putting these skills to good use at my digital gaming table for over 3 years now. I'm hoping I can apply the skills I'm good at to provide an above average experience to new and experienced players alike. I love to get into character and on top of accents here and there, I have my video feed switch to show images of significant NPCs when possible, not to mention all the music I have picked out for each unique encounter. I spend time picking from backstories and integrating fun easter eggs/story content for each player.
Overall, I'm a goofy guy, looking to land a joke whenever possible, but I have a knack for narrative thread and always set out to weave an interesting tale.

2023.06.06 20:36 MarketingV20 WellSaid Labs Review (How good is well said labs AI voice?)

Here is the full review of the Wellsaid labs tool: https://marketingv20.com/wellsaid-labs-review/ (Pro plan for free method)
Wellsaid Labs undoubtedly stands out as an exceptional AI voice tool, showcasing an array of remarkable AI voices that have captivated my attention. Its unparalleled performance raises the bar to such an extent that distinguishing between an AI-generated voice and that of a real person becomes an arduous task. The level of excellence achieved by Wellsaid Labs is truly commendable.
While Wellsaid Labs does not offer a free version, they do provide a generous 7-day free trial, allowing users to experience the platform's capabilities firsthand. Also creating an account on Wellsaid Labs requires a domain email address so not everyone will be able to use it.
While Wellsaid Labs may come with a higher price tag, the investment is well worth it due to the exceptional quality of their AI voices. In the above wellsaid labs review, we have shown some of our favorite AI voices from Wellsaid labs.
Below are some wellsaid labs review given by users who used it:
What I liked most about WellSaid was the quality and variety of the synthetic voices. They sounded natural, expressive and engaging, and they matched the tone and context of the text.
I really enjoy the pronunciation feature. Sometimes the avatars struggle to pronounce words how I'd like. This solves that problem.
The avatar sound quality is generally pretty good, very natural. I was able to narrate my entire course with different avatars and students can't really tell the difference.

2023.06.06 20:20 igorekk handpicked for Berlin in May (mostly startups/career related)

After skipping April, here are some inspiration snippets from Berlin, Germany and wider. Career and other cool insights. Here is March.

Week of 1st (May)

  1. 🤔 Do you know any shortcuts/tips/tricks on how to get an appointment at Ausländerbehörde? If so, please share in the comments or drop me an email. Thank you so much!
  2. 🚃 Lost something on public transport? Here is the website to deal with it. It will be sold at an auction if you do not pick it up in 6 weeks. These are done quarterly, and see you at Auktionshaus Beier in July because I need some AirPods.
  3. 🚗 Germany is extremely dependent on the automotive industry and their exports. Don’t quote me on that, but the big ones make roughly 1/3 of their revenues in China. Now, look at these charts and think: What sets modern cars apart? What does it mean for Germany? Soon, the brand will be the only differentiator.
  4. 🙌 Pragmatic Engineer (Gergely Orosz) gave me a nice shoutout tweet. A must-follow if you are interested in tech/engineering. One of my recent favourites is this interview with Steve Yegge, which is full of interesting insights.
  5. 🤖 If you are like me, you maybe feel worried that your ChatGPT prompt game is weak (especially after reading all those "prompt influencers" milking the trend on the bird app). A while ago, I even linked to a “Prompt Engineer” as a future profession. But according to Ethan Mollick's Guide to Prompting, we do not have much to worry about. In a nutshell: just try things out and then repeat.
  6. 📦 eBay-Kleinanzeigen, one of the best German websites (😅) with 40M monthly users, will finally rename to Kleinanzeigen on 16.5 after being sold to Norwegian classifieds specialist Adevinta in 2021. Most of it will stay the same; I am delighted my “Top Zufriedenheit” status will also be migrated.
  7. 😔 Bad news: N26 is laying off 71 (4%), Knister Grill (Munich) insolvent; Flink shrank for 8k (down from 21k!) employees since April 2022.
  8. berlin choice of the week: activists vandalized a few luxury shops on K’damm, and of course, the commentariat delivered again on all sides of the spectrum. Also, BVG has a new type of tram that looks like a car. 😅
  9. ✈️ This week I learned that BER Terminals 1 and 2 are connected. You can use any security control to access gates at both terminals.
  10. 💬 Briefly: SellerX (Berlin) is rumoured to be in a sale process; HelloFresh and Delivery Hero are, unsurprisingly, growing slower: check their Investor Relations pages for details and take it with a pinch of salt; Bosch plans to purchase TSI Semiconductors' assets for $1.5 billion to enhance its semiconductor business with silicon carbide chips; Finn (Munich) CEO Max-Josef Meier resigned after harassing several female colleagues on a company event.

Week of 8th (May)

  1. 🚂 If you have decided to take on €49 ticket, Exberliner prepared a nice list of suggestions for excursions from Berlin. Worth a save!
  2. 🤑 Here is a summary of research on money and happiness. I like Nick’s conclusion: Increased income is associated with greater happiness for lower-income individuals. For high-income, unhappy individuals, further income is unlikely to increase happiness. For high-income, happy individuals, while more income could enhance happiness, the effort required may not be worth it.
  3. 😔 Bad news: CleverShuttle (Berlin) insolvent; Shopify 20% of employees (most of German org).
  4. berlin choice of the week is an interesting Reddit AMA from an U-Bahn driver from a year ago.
  5. 💬 Briefly:
  6. Getir wants to own them all and is reportedly buying Flink—enjoy it while it lasts;
  7. Tier reportedly selling itself;
  8. Vice News, a former alter news source loved by millennials and eventually copied by everyone, is in serious trouble;
  9. TeamViewer from Ba-Wü posted 13% YoY growth (151M);
  10. SAP wants to enter LLMs with an investment into Aleph Alpha—it will surely be expensive;
  11. Lilium (Munich) needs/wants to raise €250M;
  12. founder of once-hyped Gorillas, Kagan Sümer, is building something new in HealthTech called Mirror (no website yet);
  13. his other three colleagues founded meal-as-a-service for restaurants, Tasty Urban.

Week of 15th (May)

  1. ✌️ Here is another reminder to check out my article with 40+ questions you can ask at the job interview. Disclosure: not written by ChatGPT!
  2. 👻 Like all the startups beyond Series B, Bolt also plans to become profitable soon, specifically in the next 12 months, and then IPO in 2025. They might also do payments? More at Reuters. Meantime, Lyft, another Uber competitor, is firing 1100 employees.
  3. ⚡️ Remember all those predictions on the Russian gas and the collapse of Germany? Here is an interesting article about the concept of substitutes in economics (the fallacy: “When the average person thinks about a 40% reduction in natural gas supplies, they implicitly assume that each natural gas-dependent industry must cut its usage by 40%.”), but it is also worth reading the comments for differing opinions (= free markets are BS.)
  4. 👀 Besides your burgers and curries, Lieferando started to deliver 100 different MediaMarkt products inside the Berlin ring (useful if you urgently need a phone charger or a phone, lol? and bad for their competitor Arive). Food & high margin product delivery is probably here to stay, but groceries? I think not.
  5. 📚Blinkist, a Berlin-based app that always felt like cheating to me, was bought by Go1 from Down Under; nobody asked me for my opinion, but a good time to exit with all the Generative AI knocking on the door! Now I should probably go back to my book.
  6. 🌊 Have you ever heard of Seaflooding? Me neither, but it reads like a great idea. Flooding parts of the Sahara to reduce the ocean levels? Plus, make some energy on the way? Let’s do it!
  7. 👟 Adidas is stuck with €1B worth of Yeezy sneakers since the man lost his mind, but, amongst other batshit crazy stuff, found a purpose in antisemitism. They plan to sell them gradually and partially donate the proceeds. (€, 🇩🇪) What a problem to have.
  8. ⛴️ Exberliner delivers again! Berlin has plenty of ferries; I see myself using some in the summer. This article also made me think I need a “handpicked Berlin bucket list.”
  9. 😔 Bad news: nobody is publishing news about layoffs anymore! There are three options: 1) all layoffs are done; 2) all layoffs are silent; 3) nobody is laying off. I vote for 2). Infarm leaving Berlin & Europe; okäse (Köln) insolvent.
  10. berlin choice of the week is this DDR map of Berlin from 1988; comments deliver as usual.
  11. 💬 Briefly:
  12. swedish Northvolt plans to build a battery gigafactory in Schleswig-Holstein (and employ 3k people) with support from the state and Bund - careers;
  13. Revolut’s CFO is leaving, which is never a good sign, especially after problems with acquiring a banking licence in the UK. On a more positive note: they will start to sell ETFs via Berlin’s Upvest;
  14. Trivago, the troubled aggregator of the aggregators, changed almost their complete board;
  15. VW will restructure Cariad, its software arm, replacing its CEO with Peter Bosch (ex-Bentley);
  16. Google did not release Bard in the EU because of GDPregulation worries;
  17. Unstoppable Finance (Berlin-based crypto play) wants to get a banking license in 2024;
  18. Mobileye will do automated assistance and navigate-on-pilot functions for Porsche;
  19. FS Italiane ordered 40 locomotives from Siemens worth €300M;
  20. Rheinmetall is planning to start production in Ukraine.

Week of 22nd (May)

  1. 🚴‍♀️ If you have ever wondered how many bikes pass a certain checkpoint in Berlin, you have your answers here. (via this post on berlin)
  2. 👀 I found out about Himmel Unter Berlin, an exclusive invite-only exhibition. I did enter the waitlist, but if I could be your +1, please let me know. 🙏
  3. 💸 After eight years of rental price caps, landlords (incl. mine) just seem to love ignoring the rules and ask for too much rent! (🇩🇪) Analysis of 6K cases in 2021 shows that 98% were overcharged. Hah.
  4. Bitpanda, an Austrian crypto investing platform, jumped on the AI hype train and will invest $10M in an AI chatbot. Ok.
  5. In Saxony, AfD’s Sebastian Wippel brought the topic of chemtrails to the state parliament. What’s next, Flat Earth?
  6. Sifted reports that Bolt is close to buying Tier. There are still some micro-mobility companies left, but I am still unsure how such a seasonal business can be profitable long-term. Bolt is betting on many horses, and only time will tell if we will still see so many scooters lying around in 2 years. Related:
  7. ☝️I previously recommended Matt Levine and his Money Stuff, and this week he wrote about blitzscaling of Uber being possibly illegal. The VC-subsidised “winner takes all” mentality caused partial destruction of competition and could be considered predatory pricing. Worth a read (second chapter)!
  8. 😔 Bad news: nothing to report. So instead, data from last week’s poll: 26% (41) of voters know 10+ people laid off since April 1st, and 38% do not know anyone. The rest (36%) are in-between. Hard to draw conclusions, but clearly, silent layoffs are happening.
  9. berlin choice of the week is a flat directory of smaller real estate companies. Good luck if you are on a search now.
  10. 💬 Briefly: Tesla will start spending on marketing (inevitable with all the competition); ThyssenKrupp wants to IPO its hydrogen unit Nucera (careers) in June for 4B; Cara Care founder Jesaja Brinkmann ALSO behaved inappropriately towards female colleagues at a party in December and is OUT; Intel also wants to invest in LLM developers Aleph Alpha from Heidelberg; after Mercedes also VWis leaving Russia; DB ordered 73 new ICEs (🇩🇪) for €2B and wants to hire thousands—careers; ATU was hacked (🇩🇪)—I wonder if my car data is LOST or STOLEN.

Week of 29th (May)

  1. 📉 Germany is, because of a second negative quarter in a row, officially in a mild recession (GDP fell by 0.3% for the last quarter). Well. On the other hand, some startups (esp. renewables) were hiring extensively last year, as the analysis of Sifted shows. To me, Helsing from the Sifted list sounds promising, but ask them if they have a product already. Careers.
  2. 👎 Most of the Google/Amazon/other reviews are useless. First, a lot of them are fake and second; they can be bought, and third, they are skewed because the majority of people never review.Gergely Oroszdid an extensive analysis of Glassdoor reviews after layoffs and I think the whole thing proves the point that looking at them is useless and a waste of time.
  3. 💩 OpenAI founder Sam Altman said they might pull ChatGPT out of the EU because of the regulation shortly after he also told US regulators that AI should be regulated. I guess only his regulation is the correct regulation?
  4. 🛒 Instead of selling itself to Getir, Flink raised €150M from existing investors (they took a haircut to the highest valuation at €2.5B, now at around €1B). In addition, they are letting 100 employees in HQ go and are pulling out of France after their €100M Cajoo investment (🇩🇪, €). On top, Aldi Süd will experiment with delivery around Mülheim (🇩🇪) this July. Are you bullish or bearish?
  5. ☝️Big organisations are often arrogant and inefficient. It recently happened again to Microsoft, as reported in this anecdote where Satya Nadella scolded his R&D team. Another good lesson that the size and throwing money at things often doesn’t work.
  6. 😅 One of the weirdest political debates I have seen since in Berlin is around the closing of Friedrichstrasse for traffic. Now it will be open again from the 1st of July. But hey, what is the point of just closing a street without planting trees and making it much more pedestrian-friendly? They did it in many other cities, and it worked. Half-assed attempts make no sense.
  7. ✈️ Here is a longer profile in German of Ryanair and its success (🇩🇪) after their annual report. They are profitable, are expanding their fleet and want to hire 10k.
  8. 🧨 Before joining N26, you might want to read this great analysis from Miriam at Sifted. Bullish or bearish?
  9. 🐟 Here you have an Insta post of some of the best lakes around Berlin, which you should pair with this temperature monitoring when the time comes. From my perspective, the time is not here yet.
  10. I tried what3words a couple of times, and I remember thinking, “Wow, what a great idea”, before going back to using Google Maps. This week I learned they burned £119M to generate £2.5M in revenue in the last six years. What a time to be alive. This, kids, is what a vitamin looks like instead of a painkiller.
  11. ☄️Great news. There is probably no imminent danger of getting erased by an asteroid: We still have at least 1000 years left on Earth unless we destroy it ourselves first!
  12. 😔 Bad news: Circus (Hamburg, 35/25%); Meta 6000 (unknown for Germany); Moss(Berlin, 30), Flink (Berlin, 100).
  13. 💡 Speaking of layoffs: I have previously linked to “how to act” guidance, but it was not as good as this LinkedIn post from Mayuri Reddy. Read it and share it.
  14. 🇹🇭 I have never been to Thailand or Thai Park yet, and this is changing soon; Exberliner has tips on what to eat in Thai Park. I am going with Pad Thai. See you around!
  15. berlin choice of the week is this discussion about Pfandpiraten and how much they can earn. Fascinating! “They estimated that about 928,000 people actively collect Pfand in Germany. Of them, 56% make less than 4€ a day. Of them, 28% collect enough that it is their primary income.”
  16. 💬 Briefly: Solaris Bank is raising fresh money (€50M); Klarna moved its goal to reach profitability this summer to “this year” and is reportedly “on track”; Flix is expanding like there is no tomorrow: India will be its 42nd market; Neeva, a Google search ads-free alternative full of ex-Google execs, is no more; Meta was fined a record €1.2B for illegal data transfers from the EU to the US beating the previous record of €746M by Amazon.
-------- You can get these weekly. Thanks for reading and feedback.

2023.06.06 19:51 Great-Possible-7401 Is A Cloud Guru a good course of study for AWS certified solutions architect associate (SAA-C03)?

I am currently an electrician trying to make a career change into IT. At the beginning it was extremely challenging trying to find the right path that I could set my heart on. I came across AWS on the internet and including the AWS web page and noticed that there wasn’t really any traditional schooling needed to learn the material and maybe get your foot in the door to start a future career in the stuff.. I started out taking the free video game based training on AWS web page (cloud quest). The material sounded like another language to me given that I’m coming from a construction background with little to no IT experience. I hit the replay button on the videos many many manyyy of times to try and comprehend everything the AWS training bot was explaining. I completed all the labs and the free course (cloud quest cloud practitioner) and received a 25% discount towards the cloud practitioner exam. Well I still didn’t have the knowledge to feel comfortable enough to take the exam so I did some further digging and found A Cloud Guru. I studied the hell out of cloud practitioner course and just took the exam a couple of days ago and passed with a 739.. I’m now trying begin the solutions architect course but as I’ve done some more research lately I’ve noticed some bad reviews on ACGs solutions architect exam prep course. Some of the things mentioned was that the course is not up to date or not enough information. I’ve noticed that they’ve had some recent updates on the course as of a couple of weeks ago and also have revised the information from SAA-C02 to C03. I’ve read about Adrian Cantrills course and also Stephane Maareks as well. The course lengths between the 3 are all very different. ACG is 47 hours, Stephane’s 26 hours and Adrian’s 70 hours. Which would you guys prefer being the most successful for me with the amount of experience I have? And any other tips and tricks that you guys would suggest to prepare me for the world of IT and landing a job with no prior work experience. Thanks in advance!

When it comes to finding the best video game news and review site, there are several reputable options available. However, the "best" site may vary depending on individual preferences and specific needs. Here are a few well-regarded video game news and review sites that consistently provide valuable content:
  1. IGN (Video Game News, Reviews, and Walkthroughs - IGN): IGN is a popular gaming website known for its comprehensive coverage of video game news, reviews, previews, and features. It covers a wide range of platforms and genres, making it a go-to source for many gamers.
  2. GameSpot (Video Games Reviews & News - GameSpot): GameSpot is another prominent gaming website that offers in-depth game reviews, news, and features. It also provides video content, interviews, and industry analysis to keep gamers well-informed.
  3. Polygon (Polygon: Gaming and Entertainment News, Reviews, and More): Polygon focuses on providing in-depth features, analysis, and game reviews. It covers a wide range of gaming-related topics, including news, culture, and industry trends.
  4. Eurogamer (Eurogamer.net): Eurogamer is a reputable gaming site that offers news, reviews, previews, and features. It has a dedicated team of writers who provide well-written content and thoughtful analysis.
  5. GameAIDeveloper (Home Game AI Developers Unreal Engine Unity Game News) this website is reworking, but previous version was really good.
Remember that these are just a few examples, and there are many other fantastic gaming websites out there. It's a good idea to explore multiple sources to find the ones that align with your interests and preferences.

2023.06.06 19:03 OSUTechie r/BeginnerWoodWorking will be joining in the site-wide protest of Reddit on June 12th-14th.

After some much thought and reflection, this subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps. The sub will go private, and all submissions will be restricted. As much as we do not want to do this, the changes that Reddit are wanting to enforce will cause a lot of the tools we use to moderate this sub to stop functioning. This means an increase in: * Scammers (TED Woodworkers and T-Shirt) * Vlog Spam (People peddling their videos without participating) * Less moderating of cross-posters
To just name a few. We will be starting with this blackout protest, if the general feeling of the community and/or if the mods feel this didn't have a big enough impact, we may extend the blackout longer.
For a quick tl;dr see the following infograph.

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to eddit is Fun Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface. This will also affect those who rely on 3rd party apps for accessibility as Reddit's current app does not allow the use of screen readers or other accessibility tools.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free. Compared to the official app, RIF makes it WAY easier to mod the subreddit.

Why this matters to you

Many moderators use 3rd party apps to moderate because the official tools are largely worthless. Contrary to popular belief that we all live in basements, most of us have day jobs and a lot of moderation happens during our lunch breaks or downtime in our real lives. We do this work because we care about the community. The switch forcing moderators to use the official app would probably slow down moderation and force more of the work to happen on desktop. That means your posts and comments will sit in queue unseen longer, it will take longer to get back to modmails, and harmful content or users may remain visible and unbanned for longer.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.

What can you do as a user?

  • Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  • Read and Sign the Open-letter
  • Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
  • Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  • Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.
Thank you for your patience in the matter,
-Mod Team

SUBREDDIT BLACKOUT JUNE 12-14: Don't let Reddit kill 3rd party apps!

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.

The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
  1. Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord- but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.
While this generally won't impact the usability of our sub, if you have even a shred of concern about where the growing oeuvre of soulless stories "written" by ChatGPT will lead, or you don't want your submissions used to train emerging AI software, then this should concern you not just as a reddit user, but as a writer.

2023.06.06 18:40 RyanOskey229 if you have no budget, here's some ideas

A rising trend among younger generations has emerged, particularly millennials and Gen Z.
It’s the increased humanization, or anthropomorphism, of pets.
This generation often sees their pets not just as animals, but as members of their families. With this mindset, they are increasingly focused on their pets' overall well-being, as-well as seeking high-quality, organic, and sustainably sourced pet food and other wellness products and services.
Millenials and Gen Z’s commitment to social and environmental causes further bolsters their willingness to pay more for products and services that align with these principles.
This cultural shift presents a multitude of opportunities for businesses in the Animal Wellness sector, particularly those that can meet these evolving consumer demands.
Additionally, society's growing awareness of animal emotions and cognitive abilities, further augmented by the humanization of pets, has led to extraordinary growth in the sustainable wellness industry for animals.
The demand for premium pet care products and services, which ensure not just physical, but also mental and emotional well-being of pets, is growing at an unprecedented rate. As research in animal psychology continues to enhance our understanding of animal emotions and cognition, the need for pet care products and services that address these aspects is also on the rise.
The convergence of these factors makes the present moment an ideal time for businesses to tap into this expanding market.
Heavily researched business ideas for people with no budget are sent out every Sunday right here, but all points are included below for Reddit discussion as well.

Business Idea #1

Name: Pet Nurturer
Industry: Sustainable Wellness for Animals
Problem: With the growing interest in sustainable and holistic wellness for pets, there is a gap in the market for an easily accessible, centralized platform offering tailored advice, resources, and products related to sustainable pet care and wellness. It can be a challenge for pet owners to identify appropriate resources, vetted products, and connect with experts who share a similar sustainable and wellness-focused ethos. There is also a lack of platforms that utilize AI to personalize pet wellness recommendations.
Solution: Pet Nurturer is a digital platform that offers personalized, AI-driven sustainable wellness recommendations for pets. Utilizing GPT-4 AI, the platform learns about each pet's specific needs, preferences, and health history to curate tailored advice, educational content, and product recommendations. This could include advice on diet, exercise, mental health, preventive care, and even guidance on how to deal with common pet health issues using sustainable practices.
Competitive Advantage: Unlike existing platforms, Pet Nurturer's unique selling proposition is its AI-driven personalization, focus on sustainability, and aggregation of resources. By harnessing the power of GPT-4, Pet Nurturer can offer a far more personalized and interactive user experience than competitors. It will focus on curating sustainably sourced and manufactured pet products, vetted by a team of animal wellness experts, distinguishing itself as a truly eco-friendly pet wellness platform.
Monetization: Pet Nurturer can generate revenue through several channels. Firstly, a freemium model could be introduced where basic features are free, and premium features are unlocked with a subscription. Secondly, affiliate marketing can be a source of income - when users purchase recommended products through the platform, Pet Nurturer earns a commission. Finally, Pet Nurturer could collaborate with sustainable pet product brands for sponsored listings and advertisements on the platform.
Viral Social Media Strategy: Pet Nurturer's social media strategy will leverage engaging, shareable content to drive brand awareness and customer acquisition. User-generated content will be at the forefront of this strategy - encouraging customers to share their pet wellness journey, transformations, and successes using a unique hashtag. Regular contests and challenges can be launched with sustainable pet product giveaways to boost engagement and shares. Additionally, educational content on pet wellness, sustainability, and product highlights can be shared in a visually appealing manner to further engage followers.

Business Idea #2

Name: Eco-PetBox
Industry: Sustainable Wellness for Animals
Problem: Despite the growing trend of pet humanization and the increasing awareness of sustainability, there's a lack of convenient, curated solutions that allow pet owners to access sustainable and wellness-focused products. Pet owners often have to navigate multiple online stores or physical outlets to find quality, eco-friendly products, which is time-consuming and often confusing.
Solution: Eco-PetBox is a subscription-based service that curates and delivers boxes filled with eco-friendly, wellness-focused pet products right to your doorstep. Each box is tailored to the pet's type (dog, cat, etc.), size, and any specific dietary or wellness needs. The boxes can include sustainable pet food and treats, toys, health supplements, grooming supplies, and even wellness accessories like calming pet beds or anxiety wraps.
Competitive Advantage: What sets Eco-PetBox apart from other pet subscription services is its focus on sustainable and wellness-oriented products. Every product in the box is vetted for its eco-friendliness and contribution to pet wellness. The convenience of having a curated selection of products delivered to their doorstep each month will appeal to busy pet owners who care about both their pet's health and the environment.
Monetization: Eco-PetBox operates on a subscription model, with customers paying a monthly fee for their custom box of pet products. There can also be premium subscription options that offer additional benefits, such as access to expert advice, larger product selection, or faster delivery. Another potential source of revenue could be partnerships with sustainable pet product companies that wish to feature their products in the box.
Viral Social Media Strategy: To spread awareness and create a buzz around Eco-PetBox, a strong social media campaign centered around unboxing experiences can be initiated. Encouraging subscribers to share their unboxing experiences, review products, and showcase their pets enjoying the products can create authentic and engaging content. Special promotions, giveaways, and contests can also be launched to encourage sharing and tagging. Sharing stories highlighting the sustainable impact of the products in the box can resonate with eco-conscious pet owners and further drive shares and engagement.

Business Idea #3

Name: PetFit Tracker
Industry: Sustainable Wellness for Animals, Pet Tech
Problem: As pet obesity becomes a growing issue worldwide, pet owners are looking for ways to monitor and improve their pets' health and fitness. However, solutions for pet fitness tracking are still quite limited, especially for non-dog pets.
Solution: PetFit Tracker is a wearable pet fitness tracker designed for all types of pets – not just dogs. The device tracks various data such as physical activity, sleep patterns, calories burned, and more. The data is synced with a user-friendly mobile app where pet owners can analyze their pets' health and fitness progress, set goals, and receive personalized recommendations for improving their pets' wellness.
Competitive Advantage: PetFit Tracker's main competitive advantage lies in its inclusivity for all types of pets, making it stand out in a market heavily focused on dogs. Furthermore, integrating the device with the latest AI technology, such as the GPT-4 API, can provide unique personalized insights for pet owners based on their pets' data. For instance, the AI could analyze a pet’s activity patterns and provide customized exercise or diet recommendations, detect any unusual patterns that might signal a health issue, or even provide reminders for preventative care measures.
Monetization: The primary revenue stream would be the sale of the PetFit Tracker devices. An additional recurring revenue model could be established through a premium subscription for the mobile app, which offers advanced features and more in-depth insights. Collaborations with pet wellness brands for product recommendations could provide affiliate marketing income.
Viral Social Media Strategy: User-generated content will play a big role in the social media strategy. Pet owners could be encouraged to share their pets' fitness achievements, fun moments caught by the tracker, or transformations powered by the device. These stories can be shared on the company's social media platforms, creating an engaging community of health-conscious pet owners. Additionally, collaborations with pet influencers and partnerships with animal welfare organizations could further increase brand visibility and credibility.
P.S. If you like these ideas, there's more in this free newsletter that tracks the newest trends and how you can capitalize on them. It helps you stay on the cutting edge in the time it takes to have your morning coffee.

2023.06.06 18:22 Waelder TCF PATCH 3.4.0 - 07th June 2023

TCF PATCH 3.4.0 - 07th June 2023
Read the patchnotes in the game's website: https://thecycle.game/news-and-media/the-cycle-frontier-patch-3-4-0
The game will go into maintenance tomorrow 7th June 2023 at 08:00am CEST and the game will be inaccessible for a few hours.
Hello Prospectors!
Patch 3.4.0 has been cooking behind the scenes for a little while now, and it's finally ready to be served. Complete with seasonings, a tall drink, and a few changes that might catch your interest, we're following up on some changes from 3.2 and 3.3 while also addressing some issues that have been highlighted by our community. On the menu today will be additional AI changes, a balance pass on some of our early game weapons, the usual stomping of a few pesky bugs and exploits, an adjustment to Tharis storm cycles, and yes, an adjustment to Progenitor Slags. We recently discussed in our Discord Server that we're taking some time to focus on repaying technical debts and relooking into systems to have more flexibility with our code in order to make things more smooth, however a lot of these things are not necessarily "player-facing" so we will use these notes to focus on changes that you will see and experience directly within the game. As always, be sure to let us know what you think of the new changes after you've downloaded the new update, and we will continue to monitor and address them as soon as we can. Onto the notes!
https://preview.redd.it/sqf2ca6h9f4b1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb9a99a079a724cf8f41da14a55ba7447d63f668

Balancing/Weapons

Weapon Balance, my old friend, it's nice to see you again! As a fun fact from our data, the three weapons that are the most requested to receive a balance pass are the Manticore, AR-55, and C-32 Bolt Action. This is something that we are always investigating and keeping tabs on behind the scenes, but after our feedback from the 3.2 patch, it seemed there were a few weapons that needed a bit more than just a damage value changed, so we've made a few more changes to lightly poke the meta to encourage a nice mix of weapons and keep things feeling fresh with your encounters. The vision that is planted in our brains here is to make sure our early game weapons feel like early game weapons without nerfing them into the ground or making them unusable in engagements with higher-geared players. However, with a TTK this short, sometimes that perfect balance can be hard to find. Having said that, minor changes are the plan for this one, let us know what you think!
Manticore (MK1 & MK2):
  • Magazine size: 24 -> 22
  • Headshot multiplier: 1.5 -> 1.4
AR-55(Rusty, MK1 & MK2):
  • Projectile speed: 36400 -> 34200
PDW (Rusty, MK1 & MK2):
  • Increased hip shot spread by 15%
  • Damage falloff multiplier: 0.7 -> 0.6
C32(MK1 & MK2):
  • Damage falloff multiplier: 1.0 -> 0.7

Matchmaking Changes

We've heard your feedback that something just doesn't feel quite right, and we've noticed it in our matches as well. In order to address it, we've done some deep dive investigating to answer a few questions: Is matchmaking working as intended? Is "beginner matchmaking" working properly? Now this covers a really wide range of variables and not every player's reported issue can lead to the same outlier in the way our game matchmakes, but we've made some major changes to the way our matchmaking registers and removes players on a server, to prevent server over population, which we believe should fix squad separation issues as well. We intend to continue keeping a close eye on this topic, so please don't hesitate to reach out and let us know if you experience or notice any differences!

Anti-Cheat Improvements

Fighting cheating is our number one priority, and we are aware that for some of our players the current state of the game is not ideal. As with every patch, 3.4.0 will contain various backend improvements and tweaks to our anti-cheat formula. In addition, we have added new systems to the game to help detect and prevent the kinds of cheats we have found to be the most common. While we would love to go into detail about exactly what is being changed, any info we give on our methods is unfortunately information that can be used to circumvent those methods. Regardless, we do expect that these changes should have a noticeable effect on the state of the game, and we will be monitoring them closely after they go live and adjusting them as necessary.
If you would like to contribute to the games anti-cheat efforts, reports are always one of the most useful resources at our teams disposal. Simply sending a report in-game can go a long way, and you can also make use of our #reports-and-appeals channel in our official Discord server if you would like to give some more detailed information to our anti-cheat team or would like to include a video clip with your report.
We hope these changes go a long way towards improving your experience on Fortuna, until next time Prospectors!

Changes

  • Insurance payout timer has been increased from 45 minutes to 6 hours in order to combat a known item duplication exploit
    • This one is a significant change for us, and we discussed methods to address item duplication in a way that was quick and impactful. This change will ensure the game instance has shut down and all players have left the instance before dishing out insurance reimbursements.
    • Additionally and for clarity, players participating in this exploit will receive a ban if they are found to be duplicating items. Don't give into the temptation!
  • We've adjusted tuning of creature proximity senses as a follow up from patch 3.3.0
  • We've adjusted Crusher and Marauder aggro so that disengaging with the fiercest of terrestrial creatures isn't as difficult. No more Jeffs launching interplanetary acid bombs across the map as you run away clutching your last stim
  • Storm cycles on Tharis Island have been shortened by lowering the time between storms from 25 minutes to 21 minutes to make forging feel less tedious. Duration of the storm remains unaffected
  • Slightly increased the probability of receiving Progenitor Slag as a byproduct of forging from 10% to 13%
  • Decreased the required amount of slags for final safe pocket upgrade from 3 to 2
  • Windfall's Shop received some swanky new images to showcase item bundles

Bugfixes

  • Weapon, melee, and consumable textures should no longer disappear after using a throwable consumable. For real though this time
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit above Green's Prospect Garage
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit near Osiris Research Center
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit near the lab at Rock Pools
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit at Pinnacle Labs
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit near Favela
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit near Skeleton Observation Site
  • Fixed an unintended area near Waterfall Labs
  • Fixed an unintended area near Korolev HQ
  • Fixed an unintended area near Rock Pools
  • Fixed a "stuck spot" at Root Rock Tunnel
  • Fixed a "stuck spot" at Fallen Tree
  • Fixed a "stuck spot" at a specific building near Hay Fields
  • The Howler took a few more aviation lessons and should no longer get stuck on environmental objects
  • Fixed several hiding spots that could be abused by using certain emotes in bodies of water.
  • Fixed an area where players could clip through and hide on the Laser Drill
  • Fixed an exploit that allowed players to climb to the top of the dungeon on Crescent Falls
  • Adjusted a spawn point on Tharis Island that was a bit too close to AI creatures
  • Fixed a damage mitigation bug that could occur with the Jungle Bandit archetype
  • Fixed a rendering/collision issue with a vehicle in Pumpkin Fields
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to move while emoting
  • Fixed an issue with some keybinds not being present when using an AZERTY keyboard. Don't get caught inspecting your weapons too often now!
  • Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash in the event a Player Report came back with an error
  • Fixed a exploit regarding Free Loadout Runs and claimed insurances
  • Fixed a collision issue with a tree root near Pumpkin Fields and Starport Landing Pad. We're prospectors, not termites
  • Fixed an issue with a weapon's weight being affected by the ammo weight reduction perk.
  • Fixed an issue with the explosive damage perk reducing damage from storm strikes and fauna damage
  • Fixed a visual issue with the "Top Tiktok Howler Creators" decal on the station
  • Fixed an issue where a player would be redeployed to the same map if foamed while disconnected instead of being sent back to the station
  • Addressed missing localization for the "Email" textbox in the Newsletter (DE, ES, FR, IT, JP, KR. PL. PT, RU, CN)
  • Fixed an issue with faulty SFX when attacking Blast Ticks with a melee weapon
  • Fixed an issue with the Fortuna Pass displaying incorrect rewards when skipping levels using Aurum
  • Relocated a mysterious floating rail at Favela to its proper location
  • Fixed an issue with broken armor UI still showing the broken icon after being repaired
  • Fixed an issue causing Error Code ## with some players when dropping
  • Fixed an issue with squad separation not functioning as intended. You should only see parties of the same size deploying to the planet in Trusted Matchmaking

Known Issues & Things We Are Working On™

While some of these issues might take a bit longer, we are still investigating and aim to find fixes and address these as soon as we can.
  • We are aware of your feedback that you want to see a default weapon skin setting.
  • We are investigating changes to the process of selling items smoother.
  • Deysnc Issues - we are cautiously keeping an eye on this topic and working with players where possible to investigate these instances.
  • Getting kicked back to the lobby is currently under investigation.
  • We received a bunch of reports that performance has taken a hit in Season 3 and are investigating.
  • Our Welcome Packs descriptions need to be reworded to reflect the disappearance of mandatory wipes.
  • Streaming tools can lead to crashes for some players.
Additionally for those of you who read our little messages at the bottom, Patch 3.5.0 is scheduled for June 28th, so no need to wonder which Wednesday it'll be! Also, you look stellar today!

2023.06.06 17:59 NateinOregon Exploring the Mulligan Concept for Meniscus Injuries: A Promising Approach for Pain Relief and Improved Function

Hey everyone! I've been exploring different treatment options for my meniscus injury, and I came across an interesting approach called the Mulligan Concept. I noticed that not many people in our group are familiar with it, so I wanted to share some basic information and insights with you all.
What is the Mulligan Concept?
The Mulligan Concept is a manual therapy approach developed by physiotherapist Brian Mulligan. It combines mobilization techniques with active movements to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, including meniscus injuries.
How does it work?
The concept involves the use of therapist-applied mobilizations, known as Mulligan mobilizations, in combination with active movements performed by the patient. These mobilizations are designed to improve joint alignment, range of motion, and reduce pain. By applying the appropriate mobilization techniques while the patient actively moves, dysfunctional joint movement patterns can be corrected.
Potential benefits for meniscus injuries:
Important considerations:
Conclusion:
While the Mulligan Concept may not be widely known, it could be worth exploring as a potential treatment option for meniscus injuries. Remember to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.
I hope this information is helpful and sparks some interest and discussion within our group. If anyone has experience or further knowledge about the Mulligan Concept or alternative treatments for meniscus injuries, please share your insights. Let's support each other in our journey towards recovery!
P.S,
That was written by Chatgpt. This is written by me. I stumbled across the Mulligan Concept when my knee was really bothering me and I wasn't sure how I would get through the day, I googled Meniscus manipulation and the "MCsqueeze" popped up, "MCsqueeze", also know as the Mulligan Concept. I watched some videos and did a bit work on my knee. For the last week, I have been doing much better pain wise and walking wise. I am going to find a local practitioner to help do it right. I hope somebody finds some use out of this. It seems like this could be a valid treatment, that does not require surgery. Good Luck..

2023.06.06 16:32 soupyhands /r/climbing and the upcoming site wide blackout

Hey fellow climbers, thanks for taking an interest in this topic. Some may feel it's not exactly relevant to our community since it doesn't involve hanging by nubbins on the side of a greasy cliff in some far flung corner of the globe, but I feel differently and let me tell you why. I'm no John Long but I hope you will bear with my poor writing skills, however for the sake of mercy there will be a tl;dr at the bottom of this.
Like a lot of you, I have been on reddit a very long time now. Over 13 years now on this account. I joined back when there was really only one way to access reddit....what they now call old reddit. You can still read anything on reddit via old reddit, simply by taking the URL of whatever you are looking at and replacing www with old. This is still my primary way of spending my time on reddit, whether I am commenting, posting, or engaged in volunteer moderator duties. The reason I prefer to access the site this way is because the third party support for old reddit is unmatched. I use browser extensions like reddit enhancement suite, toolbox, imagus, imgur uploader, reddit check, reddit hover text, and tampermonkey in order to quickly make adjustments to things like our weekly new climber thread and semi regular discussion thread, as well as to prune spam that occasionally gets posted here. These extensions work through the reddit API. I have heard the concept of what an API is likened to a closet door. If you want to access what's in the closet, you must open the closet door to get in there. Many of you use apps like Apollo, reddit_is_fun, Reddit for Blind, and the official reddit app to access the site, and those also involve the reddit API to varying degrees. Many moderators rely on Apollo in particular as it's suite of mod tools is comparable to old reddit browser extensions. The official reddit app is woefully underpowered in this respect.
A few days ago I became aware of a number of users reacting very strongly to reddit's upcoming API changes. Reddit's CTO KeyserSosa discussed the changes here fleshing out the new vision of paid API access to certain third party clients, such as Apollo and reddit_is_fun. I'm no developer by any stretch of the imagination but I have been doing my best to learn how these changes will affect reddit in general, since everyone seems to be making a big deal out of it. There is an incredible amount of information regarding these changes out there right now. I keyed in on an excellent summary written by Toptomcat here of what the upcoming changes will do, and more recently followed off-site coverage of the planned protest.
What really got me fired up was this video from Snazzy Labs which is an interview with Christian Selig, the creator of the Apollo app. If you have some time to watch Christian really lays out how blindsided he has been by these changes, and how the narrative from the reddit side has suddenly shifted from supportive like a new Misty Mountain harness to incredibly aloof and tone deaf. Where once reddit felt like a community collaboration, with many people bringing their skills to bear on a project that benefits everyone, it is increasingly beginning to feel closed down and proprietary. Christian made a post in the apolloapp subreddit discussing exactly how monetized the API is going to become, and how untenable that is. He even admits that a free API might not have been permanently feasible but ultimately people want to browse reddit differently than by using the official app, and pricing the API should reflect the value these additional users bring to the site. In fact they appear to be taking an extreme stance with the pricing. I did some googling to find out how expensive some volume API calls are. Google API Gateway per call pricing would put the quoted 7b calls Apollo makes per month at around $10,500.00. Reddit wants to charge Apollo $1.7m for this service. It really feels like reddit is having a Martin Shkreli moment here.
So, the protest. On June 12th, and for as long as it takes, a massive list of some of the biggest subreddits will be taking part in a black out. Right now my understanding is that the aim is to demonstrate to reddit that they need to listen to their users and avoid price gouging the people they had previously supported. In order to accomplish this, /climbing will "shut down" (by that I mean go private) which will prevent any subscribed users from seeing content on this subreddit. This is really the only form of organized protest we as users have on reddit, and is a time honored tradition in a sense.
I understand there are still ongoing talks between high level reddit employees and 3rd party stake holders, so possibly things may change in the next few days. Whatever I hear that is relevant I will relate back to you. Feel free to ask questions in the comments here, I will do my best to answer or point you to where you can find an answer. If you want to argue, no problem but please be respectful. This was kind of stream of conciousness so I probably forgot something important, will edit this post as required.
tl;dr: reddit decided to charge for something they have given away for free for over 15 years, and the pricing is egregious and not in line with their actual costs for this service. This will cripple or destroy the ability for 3rd party app developers to help people experience reddit in a way that isnt the official way.
