Think about it. To shape a cosmic body into a disk (rather than a sphere), you've got to spin it very fast, which in turn would, unfortunately, destroy the planet by tearing it into tiny particles. In the 1850s, astronomer James Clerk Maxwell showed mathematically that a solid, disk-like shape isn't a stable configuration in the cosmos, in work he conducted regarding Saturn's rings. Maxwell's research predicted that Saturn's rings would be made of lots of small, unconnected particles; he turned out to be right. His math also explains why there are no planet-size disks floating around the galaxy.
To flatten Earth without spinning it very rapidly, you'd need magic, or perhaps a galactic panini press. At any rate, a stamped-flat Earth wouldn't last for long. Within a few hours, the force of gravity would press the planet back into a spheroid. Gravity pulls equally from all sides, which explains why planets are spheres (or nearly so – depending on the speed of a planet's rotation, those forces may work against gravity to create a bit of a bulge at the equator). A stable, solid disk-like Earth just isn’t possible under the actual conditions of gravity, as Maxwell’s math showed.
And once you get rid of gravity, everything about our planet rapidly stops making sense.
The atmosphere? Gone, because it's held to the planet by gravity. Tides? Gone. They're caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, which tugs on the oceans and causes them to subtly bulge out as it swings by.
The moon itself? Also gone, since every explanation of the moon's existence involves gravity. Or, Earth's formidable gravity attracted and snagged the traveling hunk of space rock as it went hurtling by.
Gravity is also responsible for Earth's layered structure, with the densest materials sinking to the core, lighter materials making up the mantle and the lightest materials forming the crust. Without this layered structure, the planet would behave a lot differently. Earth's liquid outer core, for example, acts as a giant, dynamic magnet, which creates the planet's magnetic field. The magnetic field helps protect the planet's atmosphere from the stripping effect of the solar wind, which scraped away Mars' atmosphere after that planet's magnetic field faltered 4 billion years ago.
If the Earth truly were flat, plate tectonics — the movement of rigid plates that make up the planet's crust — wouldn't work either.

Need a solid prompt, structure for a furnished Statement of Purpose.
Just to give you guys an insight about me- I am a Bangladeshi who just completed his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from BUET(which is the number one public school of our country with an acceptance rate less than 1%). Currently, I am working in a reputed MNC globally in an Engineering Management role. After graduating last year, I have taken my GRe (323 V. 155, Q 168). I also have a decent CGPA (3.65/4.00) considering our academic structure in BSc. I have zero research/journals/publications. Have great exposure regarding ECAs.
As you can see, I have little to no research experience apart from 2/3 projects and Thesis in academics, I need to have very convincing SOP to turn the tides for a funded Msc program in the mentioned universities. I need a guidance regarding how to start, making a great prompt, making the best out of my professional experiences (I have done some projects which is related to Mechanical and Electrical Engineering). From videos to sessions, I am willing to gather all sorts of insights.

My purpose in the hobby is to breed fish, I really enjoy it, but now I can try bigger fish or fish that demand larger tanks to breed. What is bugging me is the freedom of choice in a way because I want to eventually try to breed a lot of different stuff (Discus, angels, corys, L number catfish are the ones that come to mind) so I come to you asking for help "designing" how I should set up this rack, regarding *which tank sizes should I go for*. What makes sense to me is to aim for versatile tank sizes that are able to home most fish in a breeding setup, either pairs or groups, but I don't know which sizes to choose, because again, my biggest tank to date was 30L. I also assume I should have some smaller grow-out tanks for the fry. The rack has 5 shelves, each shelf can handle up to 300kg but I wanted to keep it a bit under that weight limit obviously, and the size of each shelf is 120x50 cm. I'm gonna go for a big air pump to be able to have a sponge filter in each tank. Experienced fishkeepers, thank you very much in advance for your help <3 |

 | I have done a total water change probably three times on this tank trying to fix this problem. Using distilled water, and conditioning it to the proper measurements. Anytime I put the new water in this tank within 10 minutes. It immediately turns cloudy, not even exaggerating. My fish seems fine and the plants seem fine. I have changed out the filter twice as well with brand new activated carbon, sponge, and the little white tablet things. My blinds are always closed and his light is only on 6-8 hours a day. Hello, I recently had mail fraud committed against me. Basically, I bought baseball cards online for a value of $2660 USD, and the individual sent me cards valued at maybe $30 USD. I reached out to the individual and they spewed a string of lies until they blocked me entirely from contacting them. I have submitted a complaint to the Postal Inspection team with all of the evidence pieced together and I plan on taking the individual to small claims court I have also contacted my bank and submitted my evidence. However, I do want justice brought upon this individual because after doing extensive research, I have found that he has committed this same fraudulent act on quite a few individuals over the course of a few years. My question is, do Mail inspectors typically look into something such as this? The reasoning for my question is I feel they have bigger fish to fry and this being such a small civil matter, I'm not entirely sure if they would give it the time of day.

I have done so much research, seen so many doctors, and watched so many TikTok’s on how to lose weight but it is not happening.
First: medical background -Possible PCOS -All labs normal -Not on birth control -Normal blood pressure -Normal blood sugar
Workout routine: -4 days a week I lift heavy for 60-80 minutes depending on the day -6 days a week (including weight lifting days) I do at LEAST an hour of cardio. -I try to walk 15k steps a day at least. -I know these aren’t the most accurate but my Apple Watch says I burn between 1200 and 1500 ACTIVE calories a day -I try to have one rest day a week
Nutrition: -1700-1900 calories a day. Some days I’ll have as much as 2100 -150 grams of protein at LEAST everyday
Supplements: Ovasitol (for PCOS) Fish oil D3 B complex Magnesium Glutamine L-carnitine A Pro/pre biotic Saw palmetto Zinc Spearmint At LEAST 3200 ml of water a day. Most often more.
Mental: I sleep 8-9 hours a night The only stress in my life is this stupid weight.
Progress: I started January of 2022 at 240 lbs. At this point it was all cardio and I was on birth control. I added weight lifting in March 2022 with only 30 min cardio 4 days a week. I got as low as 221 last June. Then. Nothing. And I do mean nothing. No movement. Except up. I came off birth control this January at my Dr last ditch suggestion and my weight overnight went from 226-234. I KNEW it couldn’t be fat. But it still took about 5 weeks for it to go away. I know about blood volume increase. And DOMS. And water retention. And muscle mass increase. I’ve been not just weighing myself daily in the AM but taking measurements at least twice a month.
What I’ve tried: Taking a break (month long. Nothing) Increasing calories to 2300/2400 for only three week (nothing). I’m back at 1700-1900 Increasing cardio to 60 min 6x a week. Started this April of this year. Gave myself 4-6 weeks to account for increase in blood volume. I got down to 224. Then. Nothing. Now back at 227.
Measurements this whole time were minimal changes. Often they would go up. My neck has gotten wider this entire time. My waist measurements fluctuate 3-4 inches DAILY.
I don’t feel bloated. I’m not gassy. My clothes aren’t fitting any differently. My face isn’t thinner. All I know is that it’s been a year and a half and I’ve only lost 13 lbs and the majority of those pounds lost took place in the first 3 months last year.
I track EVERY morsel of food I eat. And I usually eat the same things everyday so it’s easy to keep track. I don’t drink soda. I don’t drink alcohol. I’m not having a lot of sugar. I only have gluten with one meal (breakfast).
My Dr told me to go on weight loss injections. I do NOT want to rely on a shot for the rest of my life. This should be easy math. But it’s not working. What else can I do? What am I missing?
