We've fallen in love with the studio ghibli films on hbomax as an alternative to endless Disney movies in our house. To save money we figured we'd buy the DVDs and cancel our subscription to HBO max. Well for castle in the sky, the DVD we found has the revised score but we much prefer the original score as played by HBO.

I havent posted here in a while and I just had a really cool Lucid Dream!
I find myself at the living room in my house and I'm already lucid somehow. I was going to tell my mum, who was in the room, that it was a dream but for some reason I decided not to. So i look at the ground and spin around and imagine a city, and the next thing i know, im there! I start flying around and notice the dream doesnt feel very real, so i think when i teleport, the dream will get more vivid. Then i teleport myself to the road that I live on and fly around, weaving around the powerlines. I also realise it's way more vivid, close to real-life vivid. Then i think of a cool landscape and it doesnt work and the dream ends.
I used MILD for this, and my reality check is just questioning if i'm dreaming, which i usually do 3-5 times per day. Does anyone have any tips to make my LD's longer or more vivid?

I've been working for an UHNW single mom with two boys for almost 6 months. I knew from the get go it would be challenging- they both demonstrate severe behavioral issues, but I was confident I could handle it. What I didn't know was how deep the issues would run. I have a very strict "no child is bad, there's just undesirable behaviors" mentality, I NEVER yell or raise my voice, and I always try to promote autonomy and kindness, but these kids and their mom put me through the RINGER. I was unaware for months 8M was kicked out of several schools for bullying and abusive behaviors, and his mom only blamed the teachers (yikes). Once on a trip with them, the boys physically fought each other and I felt so unsupported and overwhelmed I cried while recapping it to my boss, she just sighed, looked at me, and said: this NEVER happened with our last nanny, she ALWAYS knew when to just give them the phone (ie put on a video to placate them). I really should have quit after that but I was determined to make a positive impact. I eventually grew close with 5M as I spent the bulk of my hours with him, only seeing 8M for like one or two hours after school, so honestly I had no idea how bad he could get. On one day (he was upset because he cracked his iPad) he locked his brother and I in a room for hours, threatening to unalive us in graphic terms, banging on the door with a hammer, etc. When his mom got home, she basically scoffed at me and told a story about some kid 8M's therapist helped who threatened a school with scissors and the therapist was like, it's just a 5 year old with scissors, take them away! Ummm, okay. Your kid isn't 5, and he hurt me and tried to hurt his brother. Not really the same thing. I went home distressed and when I came back into work after the weekend, there were newly installed nanny cams in the house. We live in a two party consent state🫠. Days go by and she mentions NOTHING about it. She starts micromanaging me via the camera and never acknowledging it. I quit on Friday and NEVERRRRR went back.
Just got my new contract working for two dads. Everything I could possibly want in a position. Amazing pay, one baby, exactly perfect location. Hello, this is my first ever post here and I don't think I'll be doing a follow-up. I have been scrolling through this subreddit and knew it'd be the safest place to tell my story without getting ridiculed because that's the last thing I need. I read over the rules carefully, but if I accidentally broke any I am deeply sorry.
So, a bit of a backstory. I currently live with my mother, two dogs (one being a pitbull), and my cat. We used to have a third but a fight broke out between him and the pitbull unexpectedly with no signs, so my brother decided to move his dog over to our grandmother's house since she conveniently lives right next door.
My brother moved out of the home on January 6th of this year, and tried taking his dog with him before the first attack struck. But, due to neighbors and a thin wall it didn't work out. So the dog was brought back to my grandmother's while the pitbull stayed with me and my mother. All was well, but we had to call over my grandmother's to let her know we were letting our dogs out so another fight wouldn't break out.
But unfortunately that plan wouldn't last, as this afternoon of June 6th, 2023 the pitbull got through the back door and immediately charged for my brother's dog, who didn't have the strength to fight back since he was getting older and has a condition I am not sure the name of. So my mother immediately rushed down the stairs and got on top of the dogs which wasn't enough since the pitbull was relentless. My grandmother heard the commotion and went in the middle of it as well, and by some miracle they were able to get my brother's dog back inside while the pitbull stayed in the backyard for the time being. (Note: My brother was out when this unexpectedly happened, and he made it to the hospital sometime after we arrived. That's why he wasn't able to intervene.)
Both my mother and grandmother were injured, my grandmother getting the worst out of it. She's going to live which is an absolute blessing, it's just going to take a lot of treatments for her to be fully better again. My mother just needs to continue to use prescribed antibiotics for the wounds so they don't get infected.
As for the state of the two dogs, the pitbull will be removed from the home and rehomed after ten days. As for my brother's dog, due to his old age and the attack straining down on him with his conditions will have to be put down.
Thank you to those who've read this, this is a very traumatic event for me and I didn't know where to turn to.

Hey, had a couple of guys in ADT clothes come up to the house today and try to do an assessment. They seemed to think we signed up for some "covid era, new homeowner program, assessment"? When I told them I had no idea what they were talking about they put on a lot of pressure to come in, I told them to come back later.
In the meantime, I tried googling for a program and saw nothing of the sort. Then, told them to not come back when they showed up a second time.
Do I need to be worried I'm being targeted for some sort of scam or am I just being paranoid? Sorry, just never seen anything like this and am a little worried.

I don't know who needs to read this, but I just thought I would share my experience. I got out into the field with a Bachelor's and no experience in 2008. Worked production-heavy, design-light jobs at FasSigns shops for 4 years after spending two years struggling to get my foot in the door anywhere. Finally got an in-house design position and stayed there for 5 years.
Towards the end of 2021 I had to admit that I was totally burned out and couldn't see myself feeling that sense of passion and satisfaction with my work again like I did in college. There were definitely toxic and ignorant supervisors/marketing directors that did their part in sucking the life out of me, as well as a stint of ocular migraines that were increasing in frequency, but the bottom line is that I felt graphic design just wasn't the career for me anymore.
I'm still paying student loans, and that sinking feeling that I wasted so much time, money and effort in a career with obvious major issues that none of my professors ever discussed with us really started to hit me.
By now I believe many of you are nodding your heads, empathizing with this, and it's to your that I am speaking. Maybe you need a break. I realize not everyone is in a situation where they can just financially quit and coast on savings, but if you can, or you can get by on a low-stress physical labor job for a year or so, I definitely recommend it. If you feel like you're absolutely done, everything is hopeless, you simply are not a designer anymore, I recommend this break.
Like most of us, when I first started out, I was excited and inspired by certain designs I saw out in the world day today. By the end of 2021, noticing designs that I may once have gravitated towards just gave me anxiety. After taking a break for the past year and a half, I've noticed that I am finally able to connect with that original sense of excitement and motivation when seeing such designs. I thought me and design was over, but I find myself buying books on typography again, and obviously visiting the sub Reddit again.
I'm not sure if I will ever re-join the corporate world, but I have started doing freelance and it has been a positive experience coming back. What I'm trying to say is, for those of you who think about taking a break, or feel like you are completely burned out on graphic design and you will never have positive feelings about it again, take a break if you can. I never believed that I would have positive feelings about Our practice again, but it turns out it just took some distance and time. If you were worried about an employer asking about that year or two or three gap in your résumé, just tell them you were working freelance and to fuck off.

Anybody else worried about the air quality from the Canadian wildfires? Although I’m not in Canada where I’m at is being greatly affected. I haven’t left the house since the smoke got bad and my husbands getting an air purifier right now. Is anybody else experiencing this or has experienced it? I’m just worried it’s not good for the baby. What preventative measures are you taking?

2023.06.07 01:14 ThrowRAssummer How to tell my (25F) boyfriend (27M) I am not comfortable with him moving to a house directly across from a prison?
My boyfriend (27M) and I (25F) have been dating for 9 months, and our relationship has been great. I feel so strongly about him and I could very well see us getting engaged within the next year or so. He is a very kind and compassionate person.
My lease ended in February, and I renewed my lease for 12 months to live with my roommate again, since I didn’t really have any other options at the time and I like my apartment.
My boyfriend’s lease is up this month, and his roommate is moving to a new city, leaving him with nowhere to live. With his current salary and student loans from grad school he has a very tight budget, pricing him out of almost all 1 bedroom and studio apartments.
One of the few places he can afford is a house for rent in a neighborhood in the city. He said the house is lovely and spacious, and it looks very nice in the photos.
However, when I look at the neighborhood in google maps, I can see the area is…questionable — boarded up windows, graffiti, trailers, gas station with broken windows, and to top it all off…a huge US penitentiary for male offenders within 1000 ft of the house. It is very clear to me why the rent is so low.
I brought my concern up to him, and he said not to worry about it and that he’s lived in worse places and it will only be a year. However, I really don’t feel comfortable spending time there (I currently spend 2-3 nights a week at his place) and do not want to visit this neighborhood at night. I am a small female with no self defense skills, and neither of us have any intention of owning a weapon.
Not to mention, I witnessed a shooting on the same street about a year ago which was somewhat traumatic for me. I just do not feel good about him moving there, but I do not want to act controlling or cause drama since it is ultimately up to him. Additionally, we come from different backgrounds with me being upper-middle class and he considers his family working class, so I don’t want to come across as disconnected from reality or make him feel less than for not being able to afford something nicer. I just don’t know the best way to go about handling this.
TLDR; my boyfriend needs to move but the only place he can afford is directly across from a prison. I don’t know how to tell him that I am not okay with him moving there.

The Setting: Welcome to the land of Ivris, a large island housing three distinct nations who each worship one of the three True Gods of the island. These mighty gods are known as Bahamut, Tiamat, and Saridor.
Long ago, the True Gods waged war on one another, battling for total control over the island. Slowly each god amassed followers of their own, which slowly became the three nations of Ivris we know today: Drahiv, Varndirth and Lorenia. At the height of the civil war, opportunistic deities previously unknown to the inhabitants of Ivris, chose to wreak havoc on the people of Ivris. Seeing the new danger these Pretender Gods posed to the land, the True Gods put aside their differences to form a truce with each other. I just received the bill for this year’s property tax and it went up by about $400. I unfortunately did not apply for homestead exemption due to being very sick at the beginning of the year. However, no improvements have been made to the home and the appraisal I did last year actually included a deck that is no longer present. I want to appeal for the tax assessment but the issue is there are no other manufactured houses sold in the past year in my area. Any advice would be helpful on what I can do.

I sent in an application on IJOS to be the experience sales manager at our hub store. They reached out to me via email about a phone interview tomorrow with a person whose name I’ve never seen before. Is that normal? I assumed it would be in person with the GM who I already know.
