2023.06.05 02:48 ErgoNonSim [SPOILER] There is no autumn in this place. No season. What's happening is ...
The place or the forest is dying right after Fatima got pregnant.
Weird how its the first pregnancy in this town... or even at colony house after we saw in the first episodes how casual they are about sex. Obviously with no protection because where would they get it.
We see at the end of episode 2 that there's been 92 days without an incident here... surely at some point someone had to get pregnant somehow, right ?
I think Fatima's pregnancy is a mix of specific things that had to happen just right, like some obscure rules to break a curse. Something that can only become human in a specific set of circumstances... so certain people are brought here for that to happen.
We see THIS thing at the end of episode 7 and I'm willing to bet that this is the forest personified. Notice the floral pattern on her kimono ? Everywhere in town, and on their clothes there's an abundance of floral patterns, literally on the wallpaper of their houses, their clothes, on the mugs.
This place wasn't built by people, it was created by someone or something and I believe the floral pattern is related to whatever this thing is. As someone else pointed out there is no store of any kind here. The sheriff's office has a phone for some reason and they have toy plugs for the electronics. IF this was man made why would they build some houses and not harvest the energy ? why just these few houses ? This place is made to resemble a town, not be an actual functioning one.
The problem here is that without knowing an actual origin story we can't really know who or what exactly is evil here. We could say the monsters are, but then again as deadly as they are... they're seriously slow to kill anyone.
What we can surely assume here is that whatever this place's history is... its definitely a prison of some sorts, and designed as such. The people I think might be a means to an end.
Also .. guess what other mythology has a CROW GOD ? You guessed it... Japan.
Yatagarasu, the three legged crow, which when you look again at the symbol, looks like 3 claws.

Which of these are most important besides the first 2?
Other schools:
Ivey + econ/science: I like the 2+2 program, I get to decide between Mathey stuff and bus.

One main thing Im worried about is that im doing 3 onlines, because my school doesn't offer them. Ap stats, economic theory 12, and financial accounting 12. I am doing 7 other courses so I am doing them extra. any advice specifically for ivey and the first two years would be great.

2023.06.05 02:46 Karshizzleee I (26M) am loosing hope in my (25F) wife and don't know what to do.
TD;LR - Wife stopped doing most things two months into her pregnancy and has been like this ever since. Our son is 5 months and majority of what she does is watch Anime, look after our son or browse TikTok.
Hi everyone,
I'll try to include everything so everything is fair. When I met my wife she stayed with a friend who kicked her out once she met me, through jealousy was what I assumed. My wife kept on top of her friends apartment, kept it clean and also worked as well, when she got kicked out I found her a place and she this was the start of her downward spiral even though it wasn't that bad at first.
She was funny, we spent a lot of time together and we grew closer and started becoming more intimate which led to sex every day, She got pregnant and I was okay with it, at this time she was depressed that her friend had put her stuff in black bags and kicked her to the curb knowing she had nowhere to go, my wife was messy but still managed to clean, shower and other thing's you'd do for yourself.
Eventually she moved in to my parent's home at two months pregnant and she wouldn't get out of bed much, if she did it was to get herself food and my parent's told her she should try coming out of the room more which she politely declined and would pretty much scroll through TikTok all day. She didn't want to go out, not for walks or anything, she was just in the room and things got bad. It started to smell, she was leaving things around the house such as half eaten fruit and half eaten meals which my mum would clean up for her, and around the 5 month mark my parent's told her she needs to clean up for herself and she would get in a mood.
My wife was highly on edge during her pregnancy, one of the reasons was that she had told her parents she was pregnant and they both blocked her as they're not in the same country. She had no friends or family here because her only friend had threw her out. Around 8 months into the pregnancy I decided to leave my family home and get a place of our own.
She gave birth through an emergency C-Section and couldn't produce enough breastmilk to breast feed, so our baby was on the bottle and thing's were just as toxic as before. I went through hell during that pregnancy and often I'd leave her home for hours, one night I even slept in my car. Around two months after birth I could see she was calming down a lot, it wasn't as explosive and emotional as before but her anger was still there, I wasn't the best to her during these times so I decided to stop being toxic back and letting her win these petty arguments but in one final argument I told her I was leaving and she told me she wanted to kill herself, that life wasn't living if I wasn't in it or if I wasn't a part of my sons life. I just couldn't take the toxic back and forth anymore, she promised lots of things but it never came true.
Fast forward to now, living in our new flat. I've stopped asking for most things, she's simply unreliable and I know I can do a quicker job myself. But this is the part I want to be honest, she wakes up in the middle of the night for our son, she does a lot of care for him and it seems pregnancy did really affect my wife deeply.
But I am torn between two worlds, because 6 out of the 7 day's other than our sons care she doesn't do anything else. Any wrappers or plates are left exactly where she finished them, something that was prevalent during her pregnancy, it seems her memory is completely gone and now she's started taking Zoloft for depression and she sleeps, most of the day.
Our day's consist of us waking up, I'll go to the kitchen and see it being an utter mess, I can smell rotten food from somewhere and I just think to myself, 'I can't be bothered to argue about this'. So I clean it by myself. I'll go roll myself a cigarette next to the window which I can see into the bedroom (Balcony area) and I can always see her scrolling through TikTok. I swear she's on that app upwards of 3 hours a day. When I told her about it, she said that her using TikTok doesn't affect me and that she knows how to put her phone down, which is semi true. She will put her phone down when engaging with me, and she's not one to scrabble when her phone isn't next to her. She has told me about back pains (sciatica pain) from standing or even sitting on the couch and I just say 'no worries' and keep it moving.
A lot of people on here would say 'grow a back bone and tell her she needs to do her part' however believe me I can be a right c*nt when I want to be, and I realised my c*ntish behaviour wasn't getting us nowhere, just arguments that I don't have the energy to deal with anymore, I dealt with them the whole pregnancy, she even argued in front of my family member's, which she is regretful for and has apologised for but my mentality is why would I argue with someone who cant control their emotions.
Whenever I seek advice people tell me to give it more time, just be patient with her, she gave birth 5 months ago, and while I am trying to do all of the above it's still so hard to do. It's hard not to resent her for the things that happened while she was pregnant, the fact she told me she was going to hurt herself if I left, I feel like I am waiting for this magical day where she get's out of bed and get's a grip on her life, but it doesn't seem to be happening, I don't know if there is a threshold for how long I need to wait, how long I have to keep seeing her like this. I heard you shouldn't make major decisions in the first two years of having a child but it's hard looking at your wife who hasn't brushed her teeth or bathed/shaved in three weeks.
She loves her son and it's clear she loves me too, but she doesn't have it in her to be there for herself, I need some advice reddit, what can I do?
I'm 26, I don't want to live my life worrying for another person like this, hoping they'll finally get it together, I am helping everywhere I can but thing's don't seem to be getting any better. Less fight's for sure, but I feel like I am looking after a child myself.

2023.06.05 02:46 Maleficent-Ad-4624 My dna test result
I am a 1st gen full blooded hmong in USA. My parents immigrated from Thailand in the 1980s. They were both born in Laos and were refugees.
My son is half hmong. I decided to take a test on him instead of me so we can know both the parents origin. We went with crigentics so we can have access to health along with ancestry.
The results came back. Cri genetics has an interesting way to display. Recent ancestry(past 5 generation) and advance(older than 5 generations. Maybe couple thousand years)
Recent: 41% east asian Dai chinese: 11% Southern han: 9.2% Northern han: 9% Vietnamese: 5.8%
Advance: 35% east asian Dai chinese: 12% Vietnamese: 9% Japanese: 8.6% Southern han: 6.5% Northern han: 5.3%
I think I have my own scientific theory but I would like some explaining if anyone can.
I see that alot of hmong people test and get Dai, south & north han, Vietnamese quite regularly. Those are common. I am confused about Japanese
Also, crigenetics show recent and advance. Recently, I seem to have been more northern hans than Vietnamese. Evidently, Southern han and Vietnamese don't have alot of difference in their dna though considering most modern Vietnamese are descended from Southern hans so I'm not sure why I have less Vietnamese recently than hans. I boiled it down to one conclusion.
Crigenetics probably doesn't have alot the dna of other south east asian groups. Most of those countries probably blend their genetics alot in the past so its hard to distinguish between the differences of Vietnamese, Laos, Thai, etc. They probably have more Vietnamese taking their dna test. So if they get samples of more dna that are found in that region, they group it there. I even read the Vietnamese category. They tell a brief history of the ethnic group, they give a list of country where the genes are found and it listed: laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau. So they are estimating that anyone who tested Vietnamese can be from any of the country. This gives me the assumption that I am not necessarily mainland Vietnamese but just ethnic minority commonly found in Vietnam.
As I said earlier, I don't get why if modern Vietnamese have alot of southern Chinese dna, why is the recent sample more hans, but less Vietnamese? I guess they know the difference between modern and ancient vietnamese?
If I had more Vietnamese but less hans dna thousands of years ago, then my ancestors who used to inhabit that region were distinct from modern veit.
The Dai part is pretty straight forward. They inhabited a large territory in Yunnan to Myanmar and many chinese minority lived there. I do think most genetic test only know the Dai group and not the other ethnic tribes. If they find other hill tribes in you, they just label you as dai. I will have to retry a company that has 56 ethnic.
I believe the northern hans might have been from the manchu people who ruled over a good part of the southern states for an extended period even up until the hmong migrated into south east asia.
I'm not sure about Japanese. It doesn't show up in recent dna. Only advance. So we can throw away the WW2 era. I have a few theories
- The chinese, Korean, and mainland Japanese shared an ancestor. The Japanese who migrated to Japan came near the Korea and China area. They probably share similar dna. This probably happened 3-4 thousand years ago. Some of Our ancestors dispersed from there. But if that's the case, then the northern hans part I have wasn't recent but may be from that region too.
- Some Japanese show results of south east asian. Ancient Japanese probably had contacts or share something with south east asians. Japanese does have some similarity in linguistic with austronesians, who migrated from south china/south east asia. The problem is not a whole lot south east asians test for Japanese.
- This is a mixture of my 1st two theory. But goes back even farther. It was said that the early sino tibet derived from northeast near Beijing area as early hunter gathers and farmers some 7 thousand years ago. The early east asians prior to modern chinese must have been darker skin people that diverged or intermixed into different regions(korea, Japan, central & south china, west tibet, myanmar south east asia). Maybe that's why some south east asians still have Japanese test results. Going back far in time, most east asians were alot more similar in culture and looks. If this is the case, this is a dam long time ago during stone age and hunting gather.
Edit: So that last paragraph has made me researched alot. Going back in time, alot of east asians had more traits and culture in common due to hunting gathering lifestyle although not as homogenous as East asian countries like it is now. I found out most early proto chinese settlers in Central, south and even north were darker skinned resembling that of south east asian, pacific islanders. Which means that southern part of China even up to central was likely inhabited by ancient khmr l, thai, burmese, or viet(not the exact same people today). They probably intermixed alot of culture. The northern tribes probably migrated downward and mixed and traded ideas and culture and it happened for thousands of years until the newer gene pool hans chinese took over. This explains why some tibet burmese tribes(part of sino tibet from the north) like naga, zaiwa, Dai have similarity with some austro asiatic or austronesian tribes who were already existing in Yunnan, Myanmar and Vietnam when the tibeto burmese came. They both had body paint, totems, similar embroidery, wore animal part as clothing, Ancestral worship. These practices even expanded far out to pacific, Siberia and Japan.
Sorry for the long rant. If anyone can give more thoughts that'd be nice. FYI his mom isn't asian so there is no way the test would confuse the paternal and maternal.
