2023.06.11 02:58 skhetti polkadot 4g shrooms gummies didnt work for my gf but worked on me ?

ok so. i have a very specific situation. my gf and i recently tried magic shroom gummies from the brand polkadot. we both struggle w severe mental illness and we both decided maybe this would lead us in a better direction for mental clarity.
so i tried it first (btw this is both of our first times w shrooms) and she tripsitted me. i took one gummy (400mg) and within 30 mins i was already feeling shit. now, i know w edibles especially, that there are many different circumstances that can change the outcomes of trips/highs. so, for context, i had just eaten dinner before i took it. though, i only had two meals (no snacks, nothing but two meals) all day. so idk. but anyways i was feeling buzzy in my hands and i just felt. good. idk how else to describe it. my head felt numb? and then another 30 mins pass and now my mind is completely quiet. which was really fucking foreign since i struggle w severe mental disorders (schizoaffective, adhd, and possible autism). the next 30 mins pass by and i genuinely cant tell if ive been blinking my eyes or not. i felt like i was spacing out but i wasnt thinking about aaaaanything. i started having visuals, i saw lil tiny circular swirls everywhere n at one point the walls were textured ? and i saw a loooot of squiggles and shit. it was weird but rlly fun ngl
my high peaked around the time the visuals kicked in, so about an hour and a half. my high lasted around 4ish hours after that.
ok and then it was my gf’s turn. for context, she had a gastric sleeve done, basically meaning she has a smaller tum. she didnt rlly eat much this day either. so, she took one gummy (first time w shrooms) and i tripsat her. she said she felt nothing at all. to me, she was completely sober looking, acted completely normal, and sounded coherent. she told me she was also feeling sober and coherent. and ive been w my gf for nearly 3 years now, we live together. i can p much tell what shes feeling/thinking just by looking at her. we then fell asleep.
now tell me whyy my gf who is technically the perfect candidate to take edibles (shes a bariatric patient and she also doesnt eat a lot) took 4 and a half gummies today and she said she felt nothing each time i checked in every 40ish mins. ok to be exact, she took two gummies this morning on an empty stomach. then about 5ish hours later, she took another gummy. and then like 30 mins later she took another. anddd then finally, she took a half of one. its now been several hours since she last took a gummy, and she is perfectly coherent, sober, and shes still saying she doesnt feel anything. how is this possible ?
i even asked if she was sure she didn’t feel anything. i even told her to close her eyes and focus on her body sensations and her mind. she said she felt nothing out of the usual. she said she felt normal. im just confused as to why i felt it off of one gummy and she felt Nothing after almost 5.
to cover all bases, id like to add that both of us are somewhat heavy weed smokers. we smoke daily, about 3-5 bowls a day. we both started smoking around 3 years ago.
also ik theres a looooot of suspicion around buying edibles that arent legal, nd getting fakes n stuff. but there was a qr code on the packaging that if u scanned it, it took u to the official polkadot website n u could enter ur unique bar code n see if ur product is a legit polkadot product. and we did that, and it said it was legit. the place we got it from was legit and highly trusted.
additionally, my gf isnt on any ssris, maois, or antidepressants in general. she isnt on any mental health meds or any meds at all atm.
my gf is real upset and disappointed that trying shrooms didnt rlly work or help her chronic mental illness issues. ofc she knows this could just be a miss w the brand, specific mushroom blend, and/or just not the right type of ingestion method for her. we ordered a different shroom product nd we’re gonna see if that works for her.
but if you have any ideas as to why these edibles arent working for her, pls feel free to comment or pm me. and if u have any advice, or suggestions on other medicines/methods we could try to manage mental illness, pls tell me !!
thank you for reading all of this, i hope u have a great day! <3

2023.06.11 02:58 MrStrothmann Battle Report: 10th edition 1000 Point Open War Space Marine vs Space Marine

Hey everybody, I wanted to throw together a quick battle report as I had an opportunity to play "Tenth" today. Tenth in quotes because obviously we do not have point values, and we had to rely on 9th edition points, and in my own instance, a standard Apothecary over the new Biologis. We played a 1000 point game using the Only War sample map set up located in the end of the core rules meaning; 4 objectives, worth 1 point for holding each. And in this instance, no secondaries. This was largely put together just to test setting up a game, terrain rules, the less lethal edition, and to see what battleshock is really about.
I was playing:
1 Gravis Captain with bolter discipline
2 Squads of 5 Aggressors with boltstorm gauntlets
1 Apothecary Biologis with Artificer Armor
1 Small squad of 3 Eradicators
2 Squads of Eliminators
1 Repulsor
This was roughly 940 points, figuring there is likely a points premium with the Apothecary Biologis over his Tactius Armored little bother as there is between Captain and Gravis Captain.
My opponent was playing:
1 Lieutenant with plasma pistol and power fist and Artificer Armor
1 Squad of 5 Heavy Intercessors
1 Squad of 5 Assault Intercessors
2 Squads of 3 Bladeguard Veterans
1 Squad of 5 Desolation Marines
1 Brutalis Dreadnought
Totaling 995 points
Photos of the Board and Armies
Right away we realize the stalemate in this mission sets up, as a no brainer, you set up your markers as far away from your opponent in your own deployment zone. If you manage to stay on a point the whole game, the final score will be split, so you need to survive crossing the no mans land and the ensuing combat in order to break the tie. My opponent having Desolation Marines, meant I could be plinked at the whole game, and would inevitably lose a point. I placed Eliminators into the midfield and hoped I would get the die roll. By deployments end I realized I had another issue. Because I had limited model placements, and firing lanes with my Eliminators, I would have to plant a squad of Aggressors on a backfield objective for the whole game. Not optimal. This largely is my chief mistake of this game, if I had even bog standard intercessors, it would have allowed me to do one of two things; primarily it would allow my intercessors to move off the objective as it would be "sticky" and engage the enemy. Secondly, It would have freed up points for some such other unit option for the battle. Instead I played the game being 150 points down.
I end up winning the die roll, and kill 3 models of the Desolation Marines with Eliminators benefiting from Oath of Moment re-rolls. My Repulsor, which has a squad of Aggressors and the Biologis inside move up and take a few lascanon shots at the exposed Brutalis putting 5 wounds on it. My opponent passes his one battleshock test on his Desolation Marines and we have a brief discussion on how good Eliminators are this edition. On his turn my opponent takes takes a few shots at my Eliminators and Repulsor. We then have another discussion about how it seems everything is going to have cover all the time. We are using a destroyed gunship as debris/scatter terrain in the center of the map, which largely makes every single firing lane grant the benefits of cover. Similarly, his dedicated anti tank weapons are really only doing minimal damage against anti tank because his melta has to make 5+s to wound my Repulsor, which I use the smoke stratagem on to grant it cover and -1 to hit negating much potential damage.
Turn 2 I go in the tank over how I want my embarked Aggressors to proceed. I opt for activating the Assault Doctrine and disembarking from the tank prior to its move so that I can charge into his Assault Intercessors and Lieutenant that's with them. I nominate the Brutalis for Oath of Moment, and my Eliminators to take pot shots at the remaining Desolation Marines as well as the back field Heavy Intercessors. I was hoping to have killed the backfield Heavy Intercessors have to start taking battle shock and subsequently drop points over the course of the game, but only kill 1. The Desolation Marines are removed from the game after improving the Eliminators AP with both plunging fire and having them switched to be in devastator doctrine and the use of the Storm of Fire strat, giving them AP 4 sniper shots. We check to see if there is a rule about the restriction of improving the AP only once, and find that only the hit, wound, and save have such a restriction. "Less lethal," my opponent says. The Repulsor ends up whiffing all of its shots against the Brutalis, even with full Oath re-rolls because he again is in cover because of the scatter terrain as well as being partially obscured from the corner of a ruin. My captain and squad of Eradicators who walked in off the board edge completely nuke a squad of Bladeguard of the table with the Captains Bolter Discipline ability. After charges the Aggressors mulch the Assault Marines, and in stubborn defiance, attack back on death, killing 3 Aggressors back. Combat leaves me in control of one of my opponents objectives and on his turn he does not score his full 2 points.
On my opponents turn he activates the assault doctrine, advances his Brutalis to engage my Captain's Squad, and falls back with the remaining Lieutenant from my Aggressors using his in-built ability. The remaining squad of Bladeguard make an epic advance and charge through a building and into said Aggressors. His Eradicators come up into the board edge and attempt to blast my Repulsor, and again I pop smoke, which negated relevant damage. Bladeguard and Lieutenant put out their maximum amount of force and... only kill 1 Aggressor. It turns out 6 toughness is real, and it doesn't matter if you have 12 strength 4 attacks, you have to wound on 5s. On the swing back I kill only one Bladeguard. Despite me using the Squad Tactics Stratagem, the Brutalis makes the charge, he uses Tank Shock and combined with his natural mortal dealing charge ability nukes the Aggressors and 3/5s of the captain away. I think "Boy that was close, almost lost my Captain." And then my opponent reminds me he still has his attack. One thing to note here, after this combat was finished because of the new rules with consolidating, the Brutalis could not move further as he wouldn't end up in engagement range with anyone, and he wouldn't end up on an objective.
On the third turn I activate the tactical doctrine and once again nominate the Brutalis for Oath of Moment. My Apothecary has Objective Control 3, which in addition to my Aggressors OC 1 beats my opponents total OC 3. Tactical allows me to fall back from the Bladeguard, charge the Lieutenant hanging around, and turn on my Apothecary Biologis Ability making him Objective Control 9. The Brutalis weathers the storm of my Repulsor once again only taking enough to put him into needing to taking battleshock tests, and Eliminators take shots around the board that end up being inconsequential.
On my opponents turn it comes down to him NEEDING to take my rear point from my Eliminators. They go to the farm up north and never see the coffin of hatred coming. Bladeguard and heavy intercessors kill the lone Aggressor, and leave my Biologis to make every save against the 8 Bladeguard attacks, once again being saved by his toughness 6 Gravis Armor.
On my turn the Biologis FAILS battleshock, but ignored it with Insane Bravery. He falls back again, allowing a lone Eliminator to kill a Bladeguard, and retain control of the point. My opponent finally kills my Repulsor in his shooting phase, but has failed battleshock in one too many places, and ends up dropping another point.
We run through quick shooting and combat just to see if the score would be closer, but as luck and feel no pain would have it, the game ends 8-5 in my favor.
Some takeaways:
  1. Maybe it is the fact I have played a game of 9th edition nearly every week for the last 3 years that makes the rules dummy easy to understand, but any time we had a rules question, it was extremely cut and dry in resolving whatever issue we had. The complexities of just the writing are just gone, and adapting to 10th rules is pretty simple. Does that make it more like an Edition 9.5, yes except for the glaring changes in toughness, and likely points next Friday.
  2. Even with my opponents comments earlier in the game, we both agreed lethality is down dramatically. By games end we both still had plenty of models, namely GRAVIS armored models. Be prepared to see a bunch of these guys. Perhaps not Heavy Intercessors per say, but you will absolutely see Aggressors and Eradicators, they all just do great work, especially the Biologis who arguably won me the game which his Objective Control went to 9.
  3. Stratagems are all relevant. There are no more restrictions to very particular units Between the two of us we used every Marine Stratagem apart from Honor the Chapter (+1 to wound), which would have been relevant in Bladeguard versus Aggressors. We both had to make decisions with our turns in which strat is correct for each situation, and being so CP starved, those decisions mattered. Remember that when you can, popping smoke is always better than just Armor of Contempt. I find it amusing there is a bit of counter-play between Armor of Contempt and Storm of Fire/Honor the Chapter.
  4. My opponent feels the Bladeguard are mediocre, but I think to make them work they need a Chaplain with them to confer his own +1 to wound, as well as a 12" select a unit to ignore battleshock aura. To me they feel like the new Sternguard, they are cool as hell, but there are other things that do better melee damage. Maybe if they were deployed from a Land Raider or Rhino they would be incredible, but in the Land Raider example you are likely putting on a 250+ point band-aid over a much more easily remedied solution.
  5. Eliminators feel super strong. In all of 9th I tried to make them work, the combined profiles really make a big difference, and being able to slap out 3 damage, of which can be mortals and targeted towards an HQ. I didn't even consider or even understand at the time, if I put Oath of Moment rerolls on the Assault intercessors and ignored the Desolation Marines, I could have completely wiped him off the table. Would I play 2 squads in the future, only if I had a perfectly shaped hole in my list for them, although I could be wrong. Phobos in general seems significantly more powerful than it was.
  6. The Brutalis is absolutely bonkers. It is a must kill every game going forward kind of deal, a pair of them would be sick in any list. I would choose it over the new Ballistus every day of the week. I have a feeling the middle child Redemptor is also quite good, and better than the Ballistus, but I have to test that theory out some time next week.
  7. Intercessors seem paramount to Objective Control, going back to my immediate cringe moment of realizing I would have Aggressors on a back field objective all game, I really wish they were any form of Intercessor Dork. The threat of indirect fire may have been more relevant to regular intercessors, but I would have been able to leave the point, and have room in my list for other units.
  8. Woods do not have movement penalty! This is my only real criticism of the ruleset. Woods placement in official GW games were specifically to make movement out of Deep Strike difficult, or to make one choke point that both armies had to deal with unless they wanted to be slowed down.
Thanks for reading! If anyone can find rules against stacking AP that would be great. Similar, if anyone has anything to say about the lists, I would be appreciative.

2023.06.11 02:58 notirishgus Book Review: Bodybuilding and Self Defence

So got an interesting one today. A book often referenced by the legendary strength coach Dan John (u/Danie_John) anytime the topic of training for martial arts comes up. The book in question is Bodybuilding and Self-Defense by Myles Callum, originally published in 1962.
Before I start a quick bit about myself. I like to think I know my stuff when it comes to the fundamentals of lifting and martial arts. I've been doing various martial arts since I was a small child and for the last 3 and half years have been deeply involved in competitive grappling focused mainly round No-gi BJJ and wrestling but also a bit of Gi and Judo thrown in for flavor (recently received my purple belt). In addition, I've been lifting for around six years across a variety of modalities from body weight to barbells and kettlebells.
Summary of contents
So the book begins with some intro chapters after which it goes into a section recommending various tumbling exercises including front roll, back roll, headstand, handstand from crow position, backbends, and neck bridges, as well as more dynamic movements like forward and backward handsprings, flips and cartwheels, emphasizing a slow buildup to these more advanced techniques as well as the importance of performing these in a safe environment. All solid advice and if you've ever done any kind of grappling art you'll understand the importance of these types of exercises.
Prior to the lifting section, there's a chapter covering a warmup of toe touchers, side bends, leg raises, "the bicycle kick", situps, and pushups before moving on to the lifting program of the book.
The program itself is a 3 day a week full-body program that could be considered reminiscent of a low-volume version of Arnold's Big 6. It recommends doing a circuit of Bench Press, Overhead Press (or the "regular press" as it's referred to), Squats (interestingly done in the old school "deep knee bend" style, where the knees come fully over toes and the heels leave the ground, I'm not qualified to speak on safety here so I won't), bent over row, curls and a deadlift. These moves are recommended to be performed on days 1 and 3 of the week. On day 2 you would do the exercises shown in the next chapter which were calf raises, barbell pullover, behind-the-neck press, side bends with the barbell across the neck (like in a back squat), shoulder shrug and alternating press (aka a seesaw press).
The book gives directions on how to perform these exercises alongside some images of them being performed. All workouts are supposed to be done in circuit style for 2 rounds with the reps being primarily in the 10-12 range, with the exception of calf raises where it recommends 24 reps per set. From there it recommends building up reps to 20 in most cases before increasing weight. The starting weight recommendations tend to be very reasonable, mostly starting with a 30lbs (13.6kg for my fellow Europeans) barbell and building up to 50lbs (22.7kg) over time. It's also stated previously in the book that you shouldn't struggle with weights and I'm starting to see why Dan John loves this book as there are a lot of parallels to easy strength. An interesting mention is that Myles also recommends performing a daily set of high-rep bodyweight squats to condition your thighs.
Myles Callum finishes the book with a lengthy section on self-defense which to me is rather reminiscent of old-school martial arts manuals (which I suppose it technically is). First, it sells you on the idea of practicing self-defense and interestingly enough talks about the idea of strength in self-defense, an idea that's been controversial in many martial arts up till recently (in this way the book is very ahead of its time). It goes through basic stance and break falling then some Judo demonstrations going over hip throws (mainly Koshi-waza and Seoi-nage), foot trips (Sasae) and a weird sacrifice throw (looks a little like an attempt at Hikikomi gaeshi but ends up looking like a BJJ guard pulls to overhead sweep). In addition to some "arm locks", grip breaks, and a few techniques for escaping chokeholds that look straight out of another BS "self-defense for women" course. The final chapter covers some very general advice on approaches to real self-defense situations, most of which is just sound common sense advice of stay out of those situations, trying to get away and fighting is a last resort, as well as going over a few "dirty" street defense techniques such as an oblique kick.
So as I stated I can see why Dan John loves this book. It highlights the importance of tumbling movements, which in my experience is often something most of us did as kids and then stopped doing as we got older Similar to mobility a lot of us lost it then and have been trying to regain it since. For the lifting portion, the warmup seems sound, and the exercise selection seems good with the only possible exceptions being the weighted side bends and the deep knee bend squats. I personally tried the knee bend squat and had no issues with lightweight but I don't believe this is something you're going to want to load a lot or attempt if you have poor mobility. I think in this case it's important to remember that the book recommends very light starting weights of only 20lbs in some cases, as well as building up the squat movement pattern with daily high rep deep knee bend squats mentioning standard tests of 75-100 reps as a goal. The only addition I would make is a vertical pull variation (probably a pull-up) though the book does mention rope climbs as something you should do in an earlier chapter and some ideas on neck-strengthening exercises against a wall, as well as encouraging the reader to "get creative" with exercises and coming up with your own.
Though exercise selection and variety are good the total weekly volume is definitely on the minimalist end however, for someone whos also starting grappling and lifting at the same time, the wear and tear on the body is going to already be considerable so a minimalist program like this could be ideal. The loads though light will ensure good form and a base for learning later while still leaving enough energy to go and practice martial arts.
As for the martial arts and self-defense sections. I like the order, first of all, it's taught in a good sequence giving good foundational information from the ground up, going over things like stance and falling before progressing to actual techniques. The technique selection is brief but I believe that's to the reader's benefit, you don't want to give a beginner too many techniques to begin with. One technique from the judo section was demonstrated quite poorly but it's a book with only a few images for demonstrations so what can you do? I do wish however that some basic wrestling techniques had been thrown in, such as possibly a basic mat return of a rear body lock or perhaps a single leg.
Something I do wish they'd done differently is instead of focusing on wrist locks in the "arm locks" section they'd shown some more effective joint locks such as the armbar or kimura (aka double wrist lock/ude garami) as they're much more effective techniques.
I'd have to say one of my favorite sections is on releases where the focus is put on breaking wrist grips, something very applicable to self-defense and combat sports. A lot of variations are shown and this is a truly valuable section, despite showing some more iffy-looking defenses against what I've dubbed "the Homer Simpson choke". Finally, the real-world self-defense advice, though brief is surprisingly excellent. No BS just honest advice that anyone worth their salt would tell you, avoid, escape, and fight when you absolutely have to, the art of fighting without fighting kind of thing.
I enjoyed this book a lot, interesting read. It's a good introductory book, giving general all round good fitness and life advice relating to physical culture. Though the book definitely shows its age in places, it's a cool look into the past for anyone with an interest. Today we definitely have better programs for bodybuilding and for learning about self-defense but with that being said I wouldn't say any of the information in the book is what I would describe as "bad", at worst just outdated.
Lifting culture has come along significantly since the time this book was written and the creation of mixed martial arts has given us a much clearer idea of what self-defense techniques do and do not work on the "streets". With this in mind, it's hard to be too judgemental over what Myles Callum didn't get 100% right and it's far more impressive to me the things he did very well in this book.
All in all, I'd say 6.5/10. Worth a read to those who have an interest in physical culture but like I said there are better books out there for bodybuilding and self-defense. This aint a bad place to start though.

2023.06.11 02:58 goingtobelittler Will they ever learn?

It feels like pulling teeth to try to get them to talk about emotional subjects. Well, that's not really the case, They can talk about their feelings just fine and LOVE talking about themself and their faux "accomplishments" they claim to have over their mental health that they immediately prove were fake, but as soon as I'm feeling upset or hurt and try to bring up mine or an having a trauma response that makes me emotional, they either blow up or shut down. I was trying to talk about my feelings just now and they just straight up left the room and went downstairs without saying anything, which I guess is better than the usual physical or verbal abuse that comes from me talking about my feelings, and better than them dominating the conversation to redirect it to their own whining about nothing or bragging about nothing. Which... is a really depressing "small victory" to be celebrating because it isn't good it's just not as bad
They're definitely avoidant, had a narc mom, refuses therapy just like she did because they refuse to admit they've done wrong. I'm definitely anxious attachment from a lifetime of physical and sexual abuse at home growing up, it's a terrible combination. It has taken so many years to finally be able to not feel the need to bottle up my emotions and it makes me feel like I'm 10 again getting punished for crying. It just keeps getting worse.
Why don't they ever listen? Why don't they realize how wrong they are? Why do they toy with our emotions?
I'm exhausted. I want them to be better but I'm destroying myself paving the way for a path they refuse to walk down.

2023.06.11 02:57 RosieThePanda Advice on indoor potty training

My fiancé and I adopted our first dog in April. He is a year and a half old lab mix who spent a month in the shelter. We were super lucky because he was already outdoor potty trained. (Woohoo!)
But... we live in Florida. And our pup seems to have to go potty in the middle of every afternoon thunderstorm. I'd honestly rather not take him outside during a storm if I don't have to plus he is not a big rain guy either. On top of that, it's hurricane season, so there will be days and times where we literally cannot go outside.
We are looking for advice on how to teach him that he has an indoor potty spot. We currently have a stash of pee pads, a pee pad holder (because he will eat the loose pads), and some go here spray. It seems like all our attemps to get him to potty inside end in frustration for all of us. Is there anything we can do? A better method? Or a better set up? Or should we just be grateful for outdoor potty, even in the worst of storms?

2023.06.11 02:57 DMKAI98 [D] Will 'Process Supervision Over Inner Monologue' be the Next Big Breakthrough?

Two weeks ago, Andrej Karpathy delivered a talk titled "State of GPT" at the Microsoft Build event. Around the 20:25 mark, he discusses how LLMs require many tokens to tackle complex problems ( The argument is that LLMs lack depth in their reasoning layers, so they need to "spread" their reasoning across many tokens. This underlines why techniques like Chain of Thought can enhance their outcomes.
Interestingly, Karpathy illustrated how humans think while constructing a sentence, such as "California's population is 53 times that of Alaska." His example reveals an internal monologue paired with tool use, which got me thinking.
About ten days ago, OpenAI released a research paper titled "Let's Verify Step by Step" (, demonstrating a marked improvement in mathematical reasoning when LLM training incorporates process supervision. The study states,
"It is unknown how broadly these results will generalize beyond the domain of math, and we consider it important for future work to explore the impact of process supervision in other domains."
Based on these findings, I'm inclined to speculate that OpenAI might be considering the application of process supervision to an internal monologue dataset (which they could be developing as we speak). This could be a pivotal step towards enabling the GPT-4 base model to mimic human thinking processes. Should this prove successful, it could be the missing piece of the puzzle, enabling LLMs to efficiently perform virtually any text-based task in real-world scenarios.
I'd be interested to hear your perspective on this. Do you see this as a significant breakthrough as I do?

2023.06.11 02:57 archaicmindx Desyree Earned Her Right to Elimination

I was NOT.
For me, it was between Des and Amari and I knew Bao would not win in the end as well, because of this following reason:
What the mind creates first is more important than what the hands construct.
For designers to see something they have "seen before." For judges to judge something with a mid or non-existent concept. For the hosts to find that a designer has failed to capture their interest with something new: this is the kiss of death. It is not about the technical skill, the contruction, or the edge someone has in detail-orientation.
It is about the bigger picture.
Des did not impress the judges with her concept. Her look was mediocre, it was average, and it was nothing they have not seen before. And I agreed with it. It had no story, no twist, and did not have a stronger distinction from a unique perspective. However, like many of you I did not believe Amari succeeded either (which is why I knew she would go home next).
In design school, the best designs and artwork prioritize one thing: CONCEPT. Concept is praised more than technical skill, prestine construction, and pure aesthetics. If the concept is bad, instructors would trash your work no matter how beautiful it is.
How good something looks does not matter if there is no innovate story to it. Because the concept is the foundation, and the aesthetics follow suit. Many of you are pissed Des went home, but her going home was not just due to favoritism or the judges turning a blind eye. It was a true testament to the importance of valuing concept and building your look over that.
Ultimately, her loss was deserved. Her concept was poor. Her design looked great in terms of aesthetics, but even the construction could not save her because it was (as they mentioned) still not the best. If she could have competed with Bao in terms of construction she could have stayed longer. But that was Bao's strength. The others had stronger concepts. Des fell in the middle between concept and technical skill.
Technical skill does not inspire designers, concept does. They are not blind, but they simply get the priority here. Which is why poor construction can be more forgivable than a poor concept.
I'm really tired of people who do NOT understand this complaining and disrespecting Amari. Des made conceptual mistakes. She was NOT innocent. We will not all be winners or create beautiful work every time.

There is one thing that separates those who make it in the digital economy and those who don’t.It’s the quality, articulation, and perceived originality of their content. The content you post has to make sense to the people you attract.Everyone has a different voice and tone that they resonate with. That they are congruent with and trust. It has to change their thought patterns or behavior — that’s what makes you memorable. That’s what separates you from the sea of people posting surface-level copy-cat style posts.Example and putting my money where my mouth is:

Phase 3) Crafting Your Offer

Most people are sitting on a goldmine of skills, experience, and knowledge (that they can use to help people 1-2 steps behind them). That is what people pay for.Considering 95% of the market are beginners… if you are good at something, you can help them get to your level (no matter how “basic” you think the information is).Do you not watch basic content all day anyway? People don’t want new information, they want to be reminded of what works.

Phase 4) Marketing Strategy

You aren’t making money because you aren’t promoting yourself or your offer. That is literally the only way to make money. Have something desirable and consistently put it in front of peoples’ faces. In Phase 4, I will show you how to systemize, automate, and be consistent with simple promotions. You will be able to make money without having the chance of forgetting to do it (or letting fear of failure get in the way).

Bonus) The Creator Command Center

The Creator Command Center is a Notion template that houses all of the systems. This is how you will manage your brand, content, offer creation, marketing strategy, and systemized promotions for consistent sales.

Bonus) Live Product Build & Launch

In the first Digital Economics Cohort, I built out my course The 2 Hour Writer.I have videos showing how I build it with the strategies in phase 3 and 4.There is a bonus module that shows how I had an $85,000 launch that resulted in my first $100K month.I did this to prove the strategies inside Digital Economics work if you stick to the plan. And, this past Black Friday, I blew my that monthly high out of the water in 4 days. That’s the power of these strategies if you stay consistent with your life’s work.

2023.06.11 02:57 MarleyAquafina A few questions

Happy Saturday! I have a few questions about cam. 1. Favorite cam site? 2. Do you cam on multiple sites at once? How do you manage to go private if streaming on multiple sites? 3. Pre-Cam rituals you would like to share? 4. How many hours did you cam when getting started to build a solid fan base?
Background.. I’ve been a SWer since I was of age & it’s been my only source of income. I worked hard and was able to make +10k a month consistently but went through a “I need to change my life” phase and everything about SW turned me off and I just felt horrible about “taking advantage of men” 😭 I’m embarrassed… Anyway, I deleted all traces of my SWer identity so I’m starting from scratch. The industry is different since 2020 & im just trying to find my space/community again. Tips & tricks please.

2023.06.11 02:57 TresOjos Carlitos is an open book, and that's a problem.

Carlitos will learn the mental game as he gets more mature and use these tactics in his favour eventually, perhaps. The big problem for him now is that he is an open book, what you see is what you get, that's why he is easy target, in a very short time, everybody is figuring out how to defeat him easily. He needs to be more careful and reserved, show less, study other player's weaknesses, everybody have weaknesses, not just him, he never seem to have any plan, just do magic there, and when magic doesn't happen, he is in big trouble. At the top level of any sport, tactics always trump talent and exhuberance, he hasn't learned that yet and many players are walking all over him.
Carlitos is always showing way too much and other players are taking advantage of that. I wouldn't be surprised if he has to endure several catastrophic defeats later this year and finds himself outside the top ten.

2023.06.11 02:57 VortexLine Looking for new moderators

Greetings all,
For a while, I have been moderating the /FluidMechanics subreddit. However, I've recently moved on to the next stage of my career, and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to have the time to keep up with what moderating requires. On more than once occasion, for example, there have been reported posts (or ones that were accidentally removed by automod, etc) that have sat in the modqueue for a week before I noticed them. Thats just way too slow of a response time, even for a relatively "slow" sub such as ours.
Additionally, with the upcoming changes to Reddit that have been in the news lately, I've been rethinking the time I spend on this site, and how I am using my time in general. I came to the conclusion that this is as good of a time as any to move on and try to refocus the time I've spent browsing Reddit on to other aspects of life.
I definitely do not want this sub to become like so many other un/under-moderated subs and be overrun by spam, advertising, and low effort posts to the point that it becomes useless for its intended purpose. For that reason, I am planning to hand over the moderation of this subreddit to (at least) two new mods by the end of the month -- which is where you come in!
I'm looking for two to three new people who are involved with fluid mechanics and are interested in modding this subreddit. The requirements of being a mod (for this sub at least) are pretty low - it's mainly deleting the spam/low effort homework questions and occasionally approving a post that got auto-removed. Just -- ideally not a week after the post in question was submitted :)
If you are interested, send a modmail to this subreddit saying so, and include a sentence or two about how you are involved with fluid mechanics and what your area of expertise is (as a researcher, engineer, etc). I will leave this post up until enough people have been found, so if you can still see this and are interested, feel free to send a message!

'Devilry of Saruman!' cried Aragorn. 'They have crept in the culvert again, while we talked, and they have lit the fire of Orthanc beneath our feet. Elendil, Elendil!' he shouted, as he leaped down into the breach; but even as he did so a hundred ladders were raised against the battlements.
Welcome to Book III, Chapter VII ("Helm's Deep") of The Two Towers, being chapter 29 of The Lord of the Rings as we continue our journey through the week of Jun 11-Jun 17 here in 2023.

The host of Théoden rides from Edoras and are heading north-west towards Isengard, with them goes Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. They are planning to meet up with the king's men holding the Fords of Isen against the forces of Saruman.
As they ride towards the Wizard’s Vale a shadow creeps down from the feet of the Misty Mountains, whilst from behind them comes a storm of Mordor. On the second day the dark clouds have overtaken them when a rider approaches seeking Éomer and warning the host to retreat back to Edoras. The forces of Saruman; Orcs, wild hillmen and Dunlanders, have driven back the Rohirrim guarding the crossing and have slain the kings son Théodred. Erkenbrand of Westfold has pulled the remaining men back to Helm's Deep.
Gandalf counsels King Théoden to go to Helm's Deep now, before saying he must leave on a swift errand, promising to return and he will meet them there.
The host now turns south and rides towards the refuge of the Hornburg, a great keep originally built by Gondor before Rohan was ceded the land of Calenardhon. The fortress is built upon a heel of rock thrust outward by a cliff from the mountain Thrihyrne, beneath it there was a wide culvert from which the Deeping-stream flowed and behind it there were a great many caves leading into the heart of the White Mountains.
Upon arriving at Helm's Deep they find it in good repair and well manned, though many of those men were old or very young. They do not have long to prepare their defenses before the frist assault by the enemy. They come in far greater numbers and bring ladders and battering rams; they are repelled time and again from the walls. Just as the enemy appears to be breaking through the main gates Aragorn and Éomer attack the orcs through a hidden gate, yelling the name of their swords Andúril and Gúthwinë as they repel the attackers, in the aftermath Éomer is almost killed by a pair of hidden orcs but he is unexpectedly saved by Gimli who had been watching the pair fight.
The night wears on and the defenders weary as the forces of Saurman continue to pour into the valley and assault the Hornburg. Some broke through the culvert in the wall and attacked from behind, but they were quickly slain or driven into the chasm of the Deep by Gimli, Gamling and the men of Westfold. Gimli then directs the men to block up the culvert with small boulders and broken stones.
However that would not hold off the enemy for long, for Saruman had devised some devilry that blasted the culvert open with fire and at the same time the forces attacked anew. Aragorn and Legoals led what men they could back to the main fortress of the Hornburg, whilst many more were driven back into the caves behind the Deep, along with Gimli, Éomer and Gamling.
Théoden then begins to doubt the strength of his men and the fastness of the Hornburg but he is determined to go out at sunrise, ride into the enemy with his guard and make an end for themselves worthy of song. At dawn Aragorn rides out with Théoden and the lords of the House of Eorl the Young to the sound of trumpets echoing in the hillsides, they drove through the hosts of Isengard and pushed the enemy from the gates. The enemy who had started to fall back found themselves in fear and confusion as where before there had been a green dale, there was now a great dark forest. They tried to scramble up the hillsides to escape both men and the trees, but their final doom arrived in the form of Erkenbrand and Gandalf leading a thousand men on foot down the slopes from the west. The men broke, the orcs fled and after the battle the enemy were either captured, slain or disappeared into the forest, never to be seen again. [1)]

2023.06.11 02:56 Radiant_Ball_9640 Is it my fault for being dramatic and distant after an argument?

tl;dr Hi, is it my fault for being dramatic and distant after an argument? I’m 22(F) and my husband is 24(M). We’ve been married for 3 years, 4yrs together, no kids. Before we went to get groceries yesterday, I went to pick up my husband up from his work. I was wearing a lil bit of makeup and sundress. I felt pretty good about it since the weather is nice. I was feeling all the good energy vibes. I thought everything was fine. While driving away from grocery store, my husband saw the scars on my legs that I had gotten from my work and said to be careful while working. I said okay, but it’s unpredictable and it happens so it’s fine. The problem started when he started pointing out my legs and why it looks weird. I told him, I have strawberry skin and it’s okay, and I’m still pretty. His response was “ who said you’re pretty? And yeah, you got strawberry skin because you’re fat and you need to lose weight, that’s why your skin looks like that.” Mind you, I’m 5’1 and weighs 116 lbs and my husband is around 5’7 and 130 lbs (?). I’m curvy, lil bit chubby, and have a muffin top for my looks as asian. I love how I look. My husband is quite petite or slim with his features as brown boy. After what he said, I snapped. I told him this is my skin and it’s normal and either way it’s gonna go away later on cuz I shaved it a day before. Like wtf is wrong with you. He told me he was just looking out for me. He didn’t want me to get fat. He wants me to be healthy. If we ever gonna have a baby, it will be hard for me to loose weight cuz I will be more fatter, and he didn’t want that. I told him he was rude and disrespectful. I started crying in the car and didn’t even wanna see his damn face and looked outside the window. When he saw me crying, he was like “yeah, you’re so dramatic, cry more for everyone to see, your husband made you cry, so they can sympathize with you. I’m never ever sharing anything with you again.” I didn’t reply or spoke to him the whole ride. When we got home, I started helping me to get the groceries inside the house. When we got inside the house, his ridicule didn’t stop. He took a picture of my face and said he didn’t like my makeup and I look like a clown. I told him to shut up and we started arguing after that. The end of the argument he told me never speak with him again. As he was leaving for 2nd job, he came to me asking where his wallet is, and I said don’t talk me. I never spoken a word from him the whole night. I didn’t make dinner and slept early. I didn’t make breakfast, nor pack his lunch, now his back from work I’m not planning on making dinner either. There was so many times, I let his ridicule pass, but I’m so done with it. He had been unfaithful before. Good lord will see me. Thanks for reading.

2023.06.11 02:55 Latter_Ad_2653 Book recommendation

Guns, germs and steel, by Jared Diamond.
The reason why I am recommending this here is because I have always asked myself why latin america, and especially the south, has always faced such strong problems to industrialize and become competitive countries, of course there were historical reasons behind it that left inheritances of corruption and a tendency to behave like colonies, but I still didn't believe that was enough, after all many countries were colonized throughout history, yet our region seemed to suffer a lot to free itself from these chains even after centuries of independence.
This book is great as it offers an answer and helps bring awareness about our own geography and how it impacts our politics and economy. This book discusses why societies grow and how climate issues and geographic orientations affect growth and even technological innovation in countries.
I believe it is a book that every Latin American should read, especially South Americans, we need to become more aware of the fact we are a remote place, far from the biggest clusters of population and capital, and understand how that impacts our economy, instead of straight up blaming ourselves and our supposedly less efficient management of economy.

2023.06.11 02:55 Turbo_God01 29 [M4F] New York State/USA - Quiet guy looking for that special someone

Hello! My name is Calvin from New York. I’m not sure how to start this, but I’ll try my best. Although I like to be alone a lot, I’ve been feeling increasingly lonely lately. I feel like what I’m missing is that special someone. I want to find someone I can be around, hang around and cuddle with. As you couldn’t tell, I’m someone who prefers to order in and watch a series with you at home. Does that sound like the perfect date?
Well, I could be your perfect match! I would love to find someone that likes and accept me for who I am.
A little bit about myself: I’m pretty quiet and introverted. I’m awkward initially, but once you get to know me, I start to open up more! I’m a great listener. I’m always willing to lend you some advice or a helping hand when you need it. I would love to find someone that doesn’t care that i’m quiet at times. After all, action speaks louder than words. I will always be there for you!
What I like: I’m really into gaming. I mostly play on Xbox, but I have a PC that can run a handful of games. I’m not the best, but I’m more than willing to play and have a blast with you! My favorite games are Warframe, Destiny 2, Monster Hunter. I’m also into Pokemon, Final Fantasy 14, and Legends of Runeterra and many others. Currently,im playing Warframe and waiting for the new season in Destiny 2
I also love art, especially drawing. Unfortunately, I am pretty slow at learning it. I love to binge-watch movies/tv-shows but who doesn’t these days? I’m almost always listening to music, SIA being one of my favorite artist, along with Jain, Montaigne, AJR, Gin Wigmore, and Em Beihold. My sense of humor has a pretty wide range, from random goofy and silly things to dark stuff. I’m pretty easy-going, cool-headed, very patient, a great listener, and can be very kind and loving.
I’m looking for a nerdy girl like myself between the ages 24-33ish, loves to play video games so we can play together and maybe wants to binge-watch futurama for the 100th time with me. I’m looking for my one true love: someone kind, funny, nerdy, and okay with my quietness. I’m usually considered a homebody, so I’d love to spend time at home with the girl of my dreams. I’m looking for a serious monogamous relationship, not just a fling. I’m open to a long-distance relationship but would prefer someone close to or in new york state.
I’m not looking for:
• A hookup
• Someone that doesn’t want kids in their future.
For those interested in a photo: I would love for you to send a picture of yourself so I can see how you look like, but it’s not necessary. Please mention something from the post that stuck out to you, so I know you read it.

2023.06.11 02:55 Witwicky90210 Random Questions

New to this section. There’s so much info that everyone provides and after a few hours of reading, some questions linger. If any of you experts have some spare time, maybe you could fill in the blanks/provide your opinion for any of my questions…
  1. What was CW’s dating history prior to SW?
  2. How did the relationship begin between NK and CW begin? Did she lie about any of it? Who was the one who made the first move?
  3. Is there any reason/proof to believe CW may have had other affairs or pursued anyone else?
  4. Did NK really not know CW was married? I’ve read she googled Amber Frey and something about being a mistress.
  5. What did NK mean when she asked CW if they were “bad people”? If she believed him to be separated, why would they be bad?
  6. Why did NK delete so many of her texts? Did the police fail in their investigation of her?
  7. In your opinion, would CW and NK’s relationship have lasted, had he left SW?
  8. I’ve read there was a letter CW left for his parents, indicating if he went missing, it was SW who did it. Can anyone she more light on this?
  9. What are the questions/aspects of the case that leave you questioning, if any?
  10. The male neighbor, after showing police his ring camera footage, indicated CW and SW had some pretty loud fights and that CW went crazy. Was this referenced in further detail ever again?
  11. Besides the horrific fact CW murdered his family, what are the most disturbing/creepiest aspects of the cause that haunt you. (CW researching the cost of an Audi does it for me).
Thank you!

2023.06.11 02:55 ThePoetsSoldier My Name is Hattie Feurr, and I am an Only Child.

Jesus, I hope this doesn’t get turned into a TikTok with Subway Surfers content playing in the background. I can’t imagine what would happen if one of these things saw this through their social media feed and Reset me.
I apologize, but I don’t really know how to start one of these things off. Everyone here seems to be so certain of themselves when talking about their horrific experiences here, and I’ve typed up seven separate options for the introduction and discarded all of them. What am I even supposed to say? ‘Am I the Asshole for not believing murderous cryptids when they tell me I’m their sibling?’
The thing is. I wasn’t always an only child. Years before the things found me, I had a brother and sister. They were twins, and always at eachothers throats. I was the youngest by nine years, and found myself caught in the crossfire between the two of them more often than not. They went off to college when I was six due to some sort of early graduation program.
My mom was in despair after they left. She had always felt closer to the two of them, as they had been closer in age to her and enjoyed writing as much as she did. I guess having a math nerd as a child when you’re a famous author is disappointing.
If my dad was upset, he didn’t show it. He’s a traditional man, and thinks that he’s responsible for providing for the family even though my mom makes more than enough for all five of us. He’s constantly on trips, and so the two of us never grew close.
My relationship with them got worse after the accident. I had blown up at both of my siblings because eleven-year-old me didn’t think she was getting enough attention from our family. They tried to push it off at first, claiming that I was just being the attention seeking youngest.
And then I stopped talking. It wasn’t a silent treatment, but that’s what they saw it as. For some reason, I had become mute (or nonverbal, I have no idea how to distinguish one from another without a doctor’s diagnosis) some time after the argument. My parents brushed it off for a few days, but when school continued and I still wasn’t speaking they grew concerned. They had my siblings come home, and told me that we would all talk it out and spend some time together.
My parents had grown frustrated when I didn’t speak even when they came home, and told my siblings to leave as to not encourage me further. For probably the first time in their lives, they agreed on something. My sister’s car broke down, and so they both took my brother’s car back to the college.
We learned that they died about five hours later. They apparently both stopped to get some drinks in order to ‘de-stress’ after the argument, and had gotten into an accident not a mile from the bar. My parents never admitted to blaming me, but they didn’t try to hide how they felt, either.
My mom hit a writer's block soon after that, which my dad used as an excuse to go on ‘business trips’. We all knew he just wanted to get away from Kate and Neil’s ghosts.
But my family trauma isn’t what I’m here to discuss. This all had to do with the phone call I got a year ago. I was about to turn sixteen at the time, and had assumed that the phone call I received was a birthday call from some distant family member that had taken pity on me.
My sibling sang Happy Birthday to me for the first time. I panicked, before realizing that someone from my school likely programmed AI voices to creep me out, as I wasn’t exactly well liked. I was pissed off, though, and decided to snap at them.
“I don’t know who the hell you are, but if you think that this is going to upset me you’re wrong. Your shitty AI doesn’t quite capture their pretentious tones. And if this is Maddie on the other end of the line, I hope that you also receive the pleasure of having your asshole siblings die,” I snapped.
I know now how absolutely pitiful it sounds, but I was still in shock from hearing their voices and could hardly keep my voice from shaking.
Instead of whoever it was on the other end of the line laughing, or hanging up, they bickered amongst themselves. Their voices initially sounded like my siblings, but abruptly changed to two very different sounding people. I was only able to make out a few phrases, but I’ll record them here anyways in case I’m Reset.
“-asshole siblings-”
“They could just be saying that to make us hang up.”
“It should have Charmed her.”
“ You can try tomorrow.”
“---- forget?”
“Just Reset her.”
“She isn’t ready for that.”
“Fine. Wait. Give —--- dad.”
I was very close to hanging up when I heard my dad’s voice. I was suspicious of this being yet another AI at first, but he comforted me and told me that there were kids playing around with the technology at his job. They had, apparently, heard that it was my birthday and decided to use the first voices in his phone to surprise me - unknowing of the damage they had caused.
It still didn't explain why they had called him dad. Unless, of course, he had a long-standing affair with another woman. I didn’t care enough to do anything about it, but I did wonder if that would be enough to get the two of them to finally divorce with one another.
“Do you know these kids?” I asked, attempting to keep my tone light. I knew that he wasn’t going to confess, but wanted to mess with him anyway. I was, as many rising freshmen are, very spiteful.
My dad, unsurprisingly, hesitated.
“They are some close family members. I do hope you can forgive them. They’re hoping to see you soon, you know - I’ve told them all about you. I was thinking that we could all five go to that new library they’ve just built. The two of them are real book nerds, just like you.” he said, laughing.
I sat there, absolutely dumbfounded for a moment. There was no way that he had the gall to do something like that if those kids were my half-siblings.
“Looking forward to it,” I said, before hanging up. Everything about that conversation felt unnatural, but I didn’t feel like looking into it too much. My dad and mom could deal with each other. I’d already done enough to improve the quality of our family dynamic.
I didn’t realize that I had spoken. It felt so natural, and I remember my voice being completely clear, as if I had never stopped speaking at all. I believe that this was my first mistake, but knowing these things I could have messed up long before it.
I decided to go to sleep. As my dad had promised that he would be home the next morning and my Mom was fussing over her latest project. Apparently, a burst of inspiration had struck her a few hours ago, which I wasn’t about to discourage. Hopefully it would tone down her moping.
Not being concerned when my alarm clock didn’t work the next morning may have been my second mistake, because when I came downstairs at ten o’ clock my dad was sitting at the table with two teenagers. Two twin boys, one with slicked back hair and calculating eyes and the other who looked like he hadn’t brushed his hair in years. I decided to head back upstairs, as I could only assume that this all had something to do with my dad’s work in some way.
I hadn’t gotten three steps up the stairs when he called me downstairs. I sighed and entered the room. Apparently, him not ignoring me wasn’t a one-time thing. This was going to be a pain to deal with. I looked at the two boys with suspicion. They did not seem old enough to be working with my father.
“Oh, Hattie! I should have introduced you to these two. These are your cousins, William and Arlo.”
The more serious looking cousin smiled cooly, and clarified that he was Arlo. William sat by him, happily swinging his feet like some sort of overstimulated toddler. I looked at the two of them, deciding on whether or not I wanted to mess with my dad despite the kindness he had been showing this past day.
A day doesn’t make up for fifteen years, I decided, and dug my heels into this conversation. Hopefully I could get the two of them out of here before lunch.
“Dad, I don’t remember you mentioning any cousins to me,” I said, giving him a shit-eating grin. I wasn’t sure if the two of them were in on whatever he was doing, but I became more sure that they were when they exchanged a nervous glance with one another.
My dad looked at me, perplexed.
“Of course you remember them. I used to tell you about them all the time. They just couldn’t afford to visit us then and your mother didn’t like to travel. Don’t you remember calling them all of the time? You thought that they were the coolest people in the world, even though they were only three years older than you.” he said. I paused for a moment, wondering if he was aware of the bullshit he was currently spewing out.
“It was Niel that didn’t like to travel,” I said. I saw the two cousins flinch. That seemed less suspicious to me, as they likely knew now that they had accidentally prank-called me using the voices of my dead siblings.
“Niel?” my dad asked, seeming perplexed. I was just about to snap at him for not remembering something so crucial about one of his children when Arlo grabbed me by the wrist.
“Don’t you have to be at work?” he asked my dad, “I know Hattie has a day off of school, but your work started an hour ago. You should hurry and leave.”
I don’t know what happened to my dad in that moment, but he seemed to look far to afraid for a man who was only late for look. He practically sprinted out of the door, before William called out to him.
“Not going to say goodbye to your favorite daughter?” he asked with an easy smile. My dad spun around, wishing me well and hugging me for the first time in years. He glanced at my cousin, who nodded, before leaving.
Arlo’s hand was back on my wrist. It must have let go when I was hugging my dad. He squeezed his hand. I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be comforting or not, but William’s smile put me at ease.
“I’m surprised that you don’t remember us at all, Hattie. We just slept over at your house a few weeks ago, remember?” he asked, his hold on my hand becoming more forceful. I wasn’t sure why he was doing it, but it made me uneasy enough that I nodded my head in agreement despite the fact that I had never seen this kid before.
“I’m sorry. My memory tends to be a bit fuzzy since everything happened with my siblings. I think I remember you guys now,” I said, smiling sheepishly. William seemed overjoyed with this response, and Arlo loosened the pressure on my wrist. I allowed myself to relax a little bit. My family were never big travelers with how Niel was in planes. Maybe people where they were often expressed themselves like this.
I didn’t like the way his finger rested over the veins of my wrist, as if he was checking my pulse. It was making me feel dizzy. I shook myself out of the suspicion. Maybe it was a tradition where they were from, and I was being a Xenophobic asshole.
Arlo studied my expression. I tried to school it into something more neutral.
“I didn’t think you had siblings, Hattie,” he said, his voice oddly melodic. I felt a sensation of calm run through my body, though I’m not sure why. I relaxed and gave him a smile.
“Oh. My apologies, you’re right,” I said before I had realized the words I had spoken. I went to correct myself and clarify that I did have siblings, and that they just happened to be underground, but decided against it. Who cared about Niel and…
My other brother? Yes, right, I had two brothers who passed, Niel and Wilbur. I felt a pang of guilt for forgetting about them so easily.
William gave me a reassuring smile before telling Arlo to release my wrist. He did, surprisingly, and my thoughts became more distinct. The shithead was probably cutting off my circulation.
My ears began to ring. Was that a symptom of bad circulation? I wasn’t sure. I had never been interested in science. I was far more inclined to writing.
“Do we have her, Arlo?” he asked softly. Arlo nodded with a satisfied hum, which made William’s never-ending smile brighten even more. I wished that I could be on whatever this guy was. He seemed like a little ball of sunshine despite the fact that he was easily seventeen.
“They were more difficult than the others. The parents were too distant from their child to reform them as a unit. We’ll have to take more care when processing her if we want to keep her mind open to future transfers,” Arlo said, looking at me as if I was some sort of specimen that a child had pinned to their ‘bug collection’ project. I shifted under the weight of his gaze.
“Sorry, I’m not following this conversation. If this is a personal conversation, I can give you guys some privacy,” I offered, hoping to get out of the room as politely as possible. If my dad was willing to be so kind to me just to prove something to these cousins, I could only imagine what would happen if I severed relationships with them.
William let out an audible gasp, before steeling himself. Arlo took a step closer to me.
Definitely not the right choice on my behalf. Fuck, I thought, praying that I could salvage the situation.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. I just didn’t want to intrude on your conversation if it was…” I started to say, before WIlliam interrupted me. He looked like I had kicked his puppy.
“I thought you couldn’t hear us,” he muttered, his smile fading. I shook my head.
“Oh, my ears were ringing if that’s what you meant. But I feel fine. If you need me to go, then…”
I could feel the room darkening around me. I heard William call out to Arlo, who only acknowledged him with a distant hum. I didn’t realize that I was falling until a pair of arms caught me, holding me with all of the care of a vivo tester.
I tried to open my eyes, and was met with two glowing lights shaped oddly like eyes. I was surely hallucinating. My desire to stay awake faded with this revelation.
My brothers would surely take me to the hospital.
I resigned myself to unconsciousness.
Not being concerned when my alarm clock didn’t work the next morning must have been a mistake, because when I came downstairs at ten o’ clock my dad was sitting at the table with two teenagers. Two twin boys, one with slicked back hair and calculating eyes and the other who looked like he hadn’t groomed himself in years.
“Aren’t you going to say hello to your brothers?” he asked me, and I looked over to the two boys sitting up at the counter. I had never seen them before, and was unsure of what my father was hinting at. I waved at the two of them shily, and became even more confused when the look on both of their faces brightened significantly - as if I was some sort of celebrity.
“Sorry, do I know you two?” I asked, trying to recall where I may have seen the two of them before. I felt something on the edge of my memory, but I couldn’t quite grasp it. If I had seen them before, it wasn’t recent.
My dad laughed. He hadn’t done that in years.
“You and your practical jokes, Hattie. I have to head off to work, but I’ll see you three later,” he said, ruffling Williams’ hair before walking out of the door. The air became noticeably colder when the garage door shut.
“William,” Arlo said, sounding perplexed. WIlliam looked at him and nodded - though he didn’t seem happy. I hoped that I hadn’t offended him.
“You’re a pretty tough one, aren’t you?” Arlo asked, grabbing my wrist. I recoiled without thinking, unsure of what I had done wrong. He looked infuriated.
“I’m sorry?” I asked, intending for it to sound like an apology but instead turning it into a question. William sighed.
I think that I noticed how absolutely fucked I was when the stranger placed his finger over my wrist, feeling my pulse. Someone had done it before, and though I wasn’t sure who it was, I knew that it wasn’t a particularly safe person.
“She isn’t aware, but she didn’t set it up correctly,” Arlo muttered, “I guess we ought to reset again”.
He looked cold and cruel. So much so that I tried to withdraw my hand. A wave of dizziness hit me upon the attempt, and the darkness clouding my vision gave me a terrible feeling of deja vu.
Two red lights, and this time I was not unwell enough to doubt what I was seeing. Arlo looked sickly. Inhumanly so. I tried to right myself in order to help my brother.
“She seems to be accepting it,” William commented, seemingly oddly optimistic for a person whose twin had turned a sickly pale shade, his eyes glowing.
“Not enough,” Arlo said stubbornly, causing WIlliam to laugh.
Arlo smiled. A liquid that I could only assume to be blood coated his all too sharp teeth. Something was wrong with my brother, and I wasn’t sure if I should help him or run. I looked around, unsure of what to do, and caught something odd in my peripheral vision.
My hands were coated in blood. It was so clotted that instead of dripping off of my hands it fell off in clumsy chunks onto the kitchen floor. I tried to scream and found myself unable to make noise.
Was I awake?
“Quit taunting the child, Arlo,” WIlliam said sternly, and the blood faded. Arlo looked healthier too, much to my relief.
“Needed to scare her before I reset. It speeds things up. I learned from the best,” he said, grinning cockily.
Not being concerned when my alarm clock didn’t work the next morning was likely the best thing that could have happened to me. I looked down at my hands, which were pristine. Too pristine, in fact.
I could feel the phantom feeling of warm, thick liquid coating it. Blood. I shook my head. I was being dramatic, a right reserved to my mother and her books. I had never been one to write or read.
Why had my dad called me a book nerd, then?
I felt my fear before I understood it. I didn’t like books, and I didn’t read. I was a calculated mathematician, taking Calculus Two in the tenth grade despite the fact that I was nearly failing my on-level English class. My dad hadn’t tried to get me into reading since my siblings had died.
I heard voices downstairs. Two young teens, about the same age as my siblings had been when the accident had happened.
The accident.
I didn’t have siblings, a fact which felt unnatural to me. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but my gut was telling me that going downstairs was not a good idea. I didn’t understand until I heard William tell my dad that he was going to ‘wake up his sister’.
I remember, now. It hit me when I was pretending to be asleep, acting content enough to make that poor bastard's spineless self hesitate before leaving the room. I nearly screamed, and ended up turning around ‘in my sleep’ because I couldn’t bear to be facing away from Arlo's brother. I was glad that Arlo hadn’t waken me up. If that freak had checked me for my pulse, he would have known that I was not only awake, but aware of what he was.
I don’t know how long I have until they come up here to wake me up again. I do not know how time works with these things works, but I hope that I will be able to regain my memories if I see this post after another reset.

2023.06.11 02:55 PhillipFirst Overwhelmed with acting exercises

Hi actors,
I recently stopped studying with an acting teacher after being his student for two years. He wrote a book about acting that outlines his foundational technique and within the book were approximately 50 - 60 acting exercises to be attempted during rehearsals. Truthfully, I only ever tried 2-3 of the exercises because they were the ones that resonated with me.
This week, I started studying at a different studio and the studio sent us a "Foundational Packet" that outlines their technique. Within this packet were close to 100 acting exercises to be tried during rehearsals. The problem is, I have no idea how to navigate this many acting exercises.
Do I read them all and pick the few I feel inspired by and try those periodically during rehearsals?
I don't want to be a lazy actor by only picking a few exercises, but, at the end of the day, when you rehearse with your scene partner, you usually only have about 30 - 45 minutes and it's impossible to try more than one exercise with them before you actually have to run your scene. Also, if you're rehearsing/preparing for a professional film or television show, you're usually not going to rehearse with the cast AT ALL prior to filming. So, when would these exercises be attempted then? Perhaps if you're working with a coach they would just focus on one.
What do you guys think? Do you incorporate a lot of acting exercises as you're working on a scene/monologue? As you can see, I tend to stick with the basic foundational tools and try an exercise every once in a while.

• A hook up
• Someone that doesn’t want kids in their future.
For those interested in a photo: I would love for you to send a picture of yourself so I can see how you look like, but it’s not necessary. Please mention something from the post that stuck out to you, so I know you read it.

2023.06.11 02:54 moonlovesmoi Finance in DAN Management

Hello. I am planning on attending this program in the fall and my offer expired so I am trying to get another chance to accept the offer. There isn’t much information in the courses offered if you want to specialize in finance. Can someone please give some insight on what courses need to be taken in the first year and thereafter specializing in finance, as well as their difficulty level and what type of course work is assigned? How many classes do you take per semester and what are the schedules like? Thank you in advance.
