2023.06.05 09:03 Affectionate-Town695 Tampa to Austin Austin TX

Planning on moving to Austin in august
It’s just me and my German shepherd in a 1/1 apartment I have:
Queen bed - bed set 70inch tv w/ tv stand Dresser w/mirror 3 seat leather couch 2 seat leather couch Coffee table (lightweight) End table (lightweight) Body mirror Probably 5-7 boxes of clothes 3-4 more boxes of random stuff
I have a car I’d fly my friend in from Austin and have them drive my car with my dog while I drive the truck
Is a move like this going to be cheaper to pay movers to load a truck and I drive the truck and then pay movers again upon arriving to ATX?
Or should I ship all this in a pod

2023.06.05 08:47 pepesilvia50 Do Prospects Actually Struggle When They Are Called Up?

It has been a popular talking point on this subreddit lately that the Orioles are better (in the very short term) without calling up their top prospects at Norfolk, namely Colton Cowser and Jordan Westburg. I've seen comments in the last few days stating that it extremely likely that Cowser and Westburg will struggle upon being called up. That this issue is not unique to them; rather, this is an issue that the overwhelming majority of prospects deal with upon their first taste of the big leagues. Going from AAA to the majors is likely the single biggest jump in competition these guys have faced since going from high school to college.
There is logic behind this, to be sure, but I've fully believed that this sentiment is dictated by anecdotal evidence, particularly recently. Adley struggled out of the gate, Stowers and Henderson have both had their struggles in their sophomore seasons after late call-ups last year. I scanned the internet looking for research that looked at how quickly prospects, or current MLB regulars, adjusted to big league pitching based on their performance in their first X number of plate appearances, but I couldn't find one. So I decided to look at some data based on the current hitters on the Orioles' 40 man roster.
This is pretty unscientific, considering I'm doing it at midnight having been up since 5 AM. This study has a selection bias. Most of the players on this list panned out as prospects (obviously a few still to be determined). So while the study looks at how these prospects performed in their first couple of weeks in MLB compared to the rest of their rookie campaign, it ignores the prospects that never turned into legitimate big leaguers. Obviously that risk is still very much there with Cowser and Westburg. They might suck out of the gate and suck forever, and be forgotten in 18 months. I'm simply trying to address whether these prospects are likely to struggle out of the gate because it will take them time to get used to playing in the majors.
Also, I'm not looking at whether these players played everyday or started their careers as part-time players. I'm not looking at when these players started facing teams for a second time and tried to adjust to pitchers they saw for a second and third time, while those pitchers simulataneously tried to adjust to them. I'm not taking into account as to whether opponents might have more data and spend more time on preparing for higher rated prospects. I'm also not looking at the most important stats that relate to how a player is actually playing in the box. I'm not looking at K%, BB%, Statcast Exit Velo data, or anything like that. Just results based analysis, because it's easier.
Here is the performance of players currently on the 26-man roster and major league IL (excluding Josh Lester, who has 8 career plate appearances, and) in their first 50 PAs in the MLB (12-13 games, about two weeks worth of games) vs. their performance for the rest of their rookie season (the first 50 PAs will include the rest of the game that the player reached their 50th PA in)
Adley Rutschman: First 53 - .149/.245/.213
Next 417 - .268/.377/.476
Ryan Mountcastle: First 50 - .356/.420.600
Next 90 - .321/.367.432
Adam Frazier: First 52 - .367/.404/.592
Next 108 - .268/.333/.320
Jorge Mateo: First 28 (2020) - .154/.185/.269
Next 23 (2021) - .211/.348/.316
Next 186 (2021) - .251/.287/.383
Gunnar Henderson: First 50 - .304/.360/.457
Next 82 - .229/.342/.429
Austin Hays (probably can't draw anything from this one): First 53: .240/.264/.360
Next 10 - .100/.100/.100 (he then didn't play in the majors at all the next season)
Cedric Mullins: First 54 - .304/.396/.544
Next 137: .210/.279/.290
Anthony Santander: First 31 (2017) - .267/.258/.367
Next 22 (2018) - .158/.273/.263
Next 86 (2018) - .207/.244/.305
Ryan O'Hearn: First 53 - .229/.302/.563
Next 117 - .277/.376/.614
Ramon Urias: First 27 (2020) - .360/.407/.560
Next 23 (2021) - .227/.261/.409
Next 273 (2021) - .283/.370/.413
James McCann: First 12 (2014) - .250/.250/.333
Next 42 (2015) - .300/.317/.450
Next 383 (2015) - .260/.295/.380
Ryan McKenna: First 52 - .217/.308/.283
Next 145 - .171/.287/.260
Terrin Vavra: First 51 - .262/.353/.333
Next 52 - .255/.327/.340
Aaron Hicks: First 51 - .044/.157/.044
Next 262 - .220/.279/.394
I don't really think any of this data shows anything one way or another. Adley, Hicks, Mateo, and O'Hearn were all much improved after their first 50 PAs (though O'Hearn was no slouch in either sample) while Mountcastle, Frazier, and Mullins also performed significantly better in their first 50 PAs than they did the rest of their rookie campaigns (though Mountcastle raked the entire time). The other 7 players were either similar in both samples (McKenna, Vavra) or had their first 50 PAs over multiple years. Gunnar had a higher OPS in his first 50 PAs, but his walk rate and ISO both rose significantly in his following 82 PAs that I am reluctant to say he was better in either sample. I wanted to avoid comparing perfomance across seasons because of the mental, physical, and technical adjustments players can make in the offseason.
I don't think there's any evidence to suggest that most prospects have to go through a significant adjustment period to start to perform in the majors. That adjustment period will definitely be there for some prospects, but I don't see evidence of a large majority having a rough time. This is obviously a super small sample size, and maybe actual research exists that either agrees with me or proves me wrong.
But for now, I think the idea that if Cowser and/or Westburg are called up, they will struggle out of the gate "because that's just what happens to most prospects" is leaning heavily on a couple of recent specific players.

2023.06.05 07:53 Away_Limit_6275 Jae doing a lot of reflection the last days during streams

The last few days while streaming he mentions some things ,that really shows to me he is thinking a lot. He has talked about how he lost the majority of his engagement the last months, how he needs to let go of the past and mover forward cause even Yorgen mentioned is eating him alive, about start producing his own music cause paying these producers is not affordable anymore( we talked about it here too ) even about his manager that he is a good person but sometimes he forgets about him. In general seems like J start thinking a lot about his current situation but still doesn't know what to do about all the issues. For sure he is not dumb and he sees his numbers better than any of us and for sure he doesn't like it at all , so all this arguement don't talk cause he gonna be sad is really stupid cause he is already kinda sad and discouraged with his current status. Im not saying that J should do whatever fans tell him to do but once again blind worship or following ain't helping either . Personally i think J should have helped himself with an expert to heal before he starts anything regarding his career , If he had taken this route so many things wouldn't have happened in the first place , but even now is not too late! Really us talking about promo or whatever, when he is stuck to believe everything is related to kpop and doesn't want to do this and that , is pointless. He needs to help himself first and then allow to people that want to work with him to help about his career too, i know damn well he had offers last year and if he needs to, then make a step to apporach them and get a deal! Either is 88rising or Transparent arts ( they doing great job with the The Rose they are booked to every damn festival out there) just accept the fact you need help to move forward! waiting for miracles leading nowhere , big US labels won't come and beg you to sign with them or you going viral is unlikely to happen unfortunately. Last year was a transition and he was shocked from whatever happened but this year is fear and stubborness that keeps him away from his goals, he is talented but without balance on his heart and head J will never be happy or able to get over traumatic events and memories. How he gonna play the guitar again? He is a guitarist and a talented one for God sake he deserves to shine on stage playing at least 2-3 songs of his and feeling ok with that like he used to! He deserves to have festivals tours MVs promo interviews photoshoots podcasts! No sitting on his room throwing pity parties for himself. Regardless of our comments about his poor decisions or how he handles fans issues, i just wish him to find help and peace with himself and then he can make the right decisions depending on his dreams and priorities. We all wanted that for him since 2021 when we realised he wasn't ok anymore ,and we are still here wanting to support him but we can't heal him or make him famous is not up to us ,and he needs to accept that , talking to chat ain't the therapy he thinks it is and never will. Really i doubt i will criticize him anymore, not because blind followers say so ,but is just pointless J needs to stand up for himself and change his life , give himself a chance to have a proper career with financial support and get his redemption arc he wants so much ! My Korean friend told me Jay Park had a whole nation cursing him but look at him now, he proved that not only he felt sorry for what happened but also proved himself as businessman and and top musician at k-hiphop scene. He still gets hate on twitter so what? He is a 4 time CEO anonymous people on internet can't change that fact .( i don't like him much as person but i admit he has the balls ! the biggest cb ever in korean entertainment history) Jae didn't even have this scale of hate but on his head is way bigger than actually was and he is afraid to even breathe for that reason, he thinks will step in SK and someone will throw him tomatoes or something. Koreans love success stories if J gets one then everything will be just a bad moment, and i believe he can get that if he finds his way and not what he is doing right now. Really praying to find his way out from all this bubble and succeed ,he is talented man but his biggest enemy right now is himself not trolls or antis.
P.S. It really hit me hard how IMC gets less than 10k streams per day , a song that is so well produced and fans favourite but he did nothing about it ,so another wasted song just like that. Hype and numbers will come back when fans see he is doing the proper step to upgrade his career level and new audience will come too. At this point im praying the courage button to switch on his mind and do whatever he needs to do , he did it once by leaving a toxic environment ,he can do it again deciding to get heal first and then move forward.
P.S2 Please don't try to analyze or diagnose him we are not experts and even if we were , no one has the right to diagnose people online and call them names. Im just talking in general that he needs to get heal how often, with what kind of treatment and with who is not our place to say ,again we are not doctors.
P.S3 The vods are available you can all watch em

2023.06.05 07:52 AustinYFZ Trying acid at 16 y/o (4 tabs total)

Well I'm Austin and I'm 16 y/o i tried acid for the first time with my brother and it started off with a tab each at 9pm on a Friday night. I had tried shrooms 3-4 times previously and I knew that acid was far more intense because I watch psyched substance lol(and I had plenty of insight from my brother) Anyways, around 20 minutes after we took the first tab , we said f#ck it and took another one. We figured might as well since i didnt want to feel like I missed out on anything. It all hit around 10:30 pm after we went to my sister's to grab some lasagna my dad sent with me when my sister and brother picked me up that night. we were having a blast dying laughing at the smallest things, it was so insane the feelings of being out of my body but still in it at the same time lol. My brother attempted to warm uo the lasagna but they didnt work because we were tripping so hard. My brother was sitting there with a fork in hand poking the lasagna with it in the oven and oven on. Yes I know how this could have went really bad and it almost did. As we sat there in the kitchen dying laughing watching my brother poke lasagna with the oven cranked on high, the though came over me what if we burn the house down, cause by this time we were starting to peak and I felt like I was losing control. I gasped after I thought this but it didn't send me spiraling into a bad trip as my brother heard me gasp and seen that I had this spooked look on my face. It didn't effect my trip what so ever. So I settled with a cup of lucky charms with a plate under neath because I could barely eat right lmao. I regret choosing lucky charms as a food to eat on acid because my mouth and jaw felt so sore. After i ate, we settled down watching funny youtube videos. Later in the night around 2am, my brother was ready to passout as both our trips were coming to and end and we were ready to crash, at least he was. As fascinated as I was and how good the trip went for me, i decided on taking another 2 tabs. My brother said to me "its up to you man, im all good, im going to bed. So i decided to drop the other two of course. After my brother watched me eat the other two, he said "you better buckle up". my brother fell asleep soon after but would turn over in bed to check on me because my body was (for lack of a better term) trembling or twitching mixed with slight giggles from the amount of acid I took and my body felt so stiff. I was completely fine and felt safe cause I knew it was just the acid. My brother finnaly passes out for good around 3am so that left me and his two dogs. I got bored of laying in bed so i went and sat on the couch I the living room as I waited for the tabs to hit me and the dogs basically huddled up in a little ball with me on the coach lol. It's so strange how animals act towards you when your tripping on psychedelics, especially shrooms. So after we huddle up , all I remember was me sitting there facing towards the curtains of the living room window. It was about 4am when I started staring at the window .I remember being so stiff, all I felt like doing was staring at curtains. And that was the last thing I remembered up until around 6 :30am. I'm still very curious till this day as to where my mind went for that long duration of time. I know I didn't sleep because when I clicked back Into or whatever the hell you wanna call it, I hadn't moved not a single muscle. All i remember is it being dark outside rhe window, and then boom, there was daylight. It was going on 7am and I finnaly got up and moved from the coach. I felt so so weird, words could not explain besides it felt like it wasn't my body that I was in. I went back to my brother's room to see him still sound asleep. Then I remembered I have a phone lmao, I hadn't touched it at all that night, as soon as I got on it, I texted my sister instantly because i wanted to share what i had experienced or try to. I thought it was crazy that as soon as I woke up and texted her , this was the exact time she had woke up, she said this herself. for the record my sister lives right next door to my brother as it was a triplex building. I told her I was walking over and it was going on 8am at this time. I was still tripping but no visuals , just feeling like a spaghetti noodle is the only way I can explain it lol. She thought I was insane because I told her about how much I had took. All together , I took 4 tabs of lsd, which I think is quite a bit now looking back for a first lsd/acid trip. We smoked a bowl of weed and chilled for a little while until my brother woke up. At this time it was 10am, and I still felt like I had woke up a hour ago, i was energized so me and my brother ended up deep cleaning his house for two hours. We were "geekin"as my brother called it because I know damn well ihadnt slept and we were cleaning every little spot of dirt or gunk we seen. Around 12 pm , I finnaly started to get a little bit tired, so I took a shower. Water be feeling some type of way on acid I tell you , but don't expect me to explain it cause I can't lol. I took a shower , my brother had warmed up sea food so I ate and crawled into bed at 1pm. Finnsly my I crashed and I slept for a total of 18 hours , tripping for a total of 16 hours straight , and was awake for a total of 31 hours. I woke up the next day at 7am feeling so so amazing , so clear headed, and better than I have ever felt in my life. I hope you enjoyed my little trip report on tripping acid at 16y/o
Let me know your thoughts, if you have any questions, please ask and I will reply to the best of my abilities.

2023.06.05 07:38 confusedgoofball You pukes need to relearn movie theatre etiquette my GOD

So I just went and saw Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse today and the experience I had in this theatre was literally my last straw. Since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted it seems SO MANY people have forgotten what movie theatre etiquette is. If this was the first time it happened I would just leave it be and go on my merry way BUT it’s not the first and I really hope it’ll be the last but probably not.
Not only did it happen when I saw Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse BUT it happened when I saw, Halloween Ends, and Evil Dead Rise.
Firstly, BE QUIET IN THE THEATRE. Excessive talking, loud chewing, and obnoxious reactions just ruin the experience because your loud ass is back there having a full fledged conversation and sounding like a fucking OGRE when you eat your popcorn.
Secondly, STAY OFF THE CELLPHONES. Texting, using your flashlight, snapchatting, tweeting, WHATEVER THE FUCK just put it down! You know that little thing they show before the movie and after the previews that tells you to silence or turn off your phone? Yeah that’s not a suggestion.
A lot of people will say “oH iTs a MoViE yOu’rE sUpPoSeD tO hAvE fUn” or “wElL i pAiD tO sEe tHE mOviE” yeah you are supposed to have fun just not at the expense of everyone else and yeah you did pay for the movie but so did I you fuckin imbecile. People will also say “oh just go get an employee” but in my experience that just makes it even worse and then I have to LEAVE THE MOVIE I PAID FOR BECAUSE YOU WANNA ACT LIKE YOU’RE AT HOME.
Moral of the story if you wanna behave like you’re in your home at the movie theatre then just stay home and wait for the movie to be streaming or on DVD. If you behave like this at the movies delete your social security number you used beam bag chair.
TLDR: People need to respect movie theatre etiquette or stay home.

2023.06.04 23:41 Danthedude1 Ultimate ERB Poll results

Hey again, it's me, the guy who did that big poll 2 weeks back. I finally stopped procrastinating and compiled the results here (I meant to post this like a week ago, when the responses slowed down).
Anyway, thanks for the support on this! I got 90 responses, and the poll did much better than I thought it would. Here's the results:
(Below, the text in bold are the results, and the normal text are my comments. All percentages are calculated without the "Haven't watched" responses included, while the haven't watched percentages themselves are calculated with all votes counted. Remember that every question was required, so all questions had 90-91 votes). Hopefully my explanation isn't too terrible. If a percentage has a tilde (~) in front of it, the percent was rounded up to the nearest tenth.

John Lennon vs. Bill O'Reilly
Darth Vader vs. Adolf Hitler
Only one person said they didn't watch it. I checked the responses and the person who said that responded HW for 50% of the battles, so that's why. Not calling them out or anything, just thought you might be wondering
Abe Lincoln vs. Chuck Norris
Sarah Palin vs. Lady Gaga
Hulk Hogan and Macho Man vs. Kim Jong-Il
Justin Bieber vs. Beethoven:
With a percentage of 97.6%, Beethoven has the biggest slam dunk out of every battle on this list.
Albert Einstein vs. Stephen Hawking
Genghis Khan vs. Easter Bunny
Napoleon vs. Napoleon
Okay so at this point someone decided to submit a vote, so the results above are off by one vote. I'm not wasting my time changing it.
Billy Mays vs. Ben Franklin
Gandalf vs. Dumbledore
I believe this is the least watched battle. Apparently, more than 1/4 of this subreddit has not watched this battle
Dr. Seuss vs. Shakespeare
I'm assuming that Thing 1 and 2 drag down the team a lot.
Mr. T vs. Mr. Rogers
Christopher Columbus vs. Captain Kirk
NicePeter vs. EpicLLOYD
Hitler vs. Vader 2
Master Chief vs. Leonidas
Mario Bros vs. Wright Bros
Michael Jackson vs. Elvis Presley
Cleopatra vs. Marilyn Monroe
Steve Jobs vs. Bill Gates
This is the most balanced 1v1+1 battle. Kind of surprised that HAL got so many votes, I initially believed that people didn't like that part of the battle.
Frank Sinatra vs. Freddie Mercury
Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney
This is the only battle in which everyone stated they had watched it. Makes sense, it is ERB's most viewed video
Doc Brown vs. Doctor Who
Bruce Lee vs. Clint Eastwood
Batman vs. Sherlock Holmes
I bet Robin would've done better if he were a standalone option.
Moses vs. Santa Claus
Adam vs. Eve
Gandhi vs. Martin Luther King Jr
Nikola Tesla vs. Thomas Edison
Babe Ruth vs. Lance Armstrong
Mozart vs. Skrillex
Rasputin vs. Stalin
This one. Actually suprised to see Lenin so high, I've never really seen anyone talk about his verse.
Hitler vs. Vader 3
With the trilogy complete, Darth Vader wins best of three 2-1.
Blackbeard vs. Al Capone
Miley Cyrus vs. Joan of Arc
Bob Ross vs. Pablo Picasso
Michael Jordan vs. Muhammed Ali
Donald Trump vs. Ebeneezer Scrooge
This one is weird. Meta-battles cause problems for polls because, well, do you need a winner for a story? I considered leaving this one out, and I also considered all the ghosts being put on one team, but I really just see these results as "Who had the best verse?", over who won the battle.
Rick Grimes vs. Walter White
Goku vs. Superman
Stephen King vs. Edgar Allen Poe
Sir Isaac Newton vs. Bill Nye
George Washington vs. William Wallace
Artists vs. TMNT
Ghostbusters vs. Mythbusters
Romeo and Juliet vs. Bonnie and Clyde
Zeus vs. Thor
Jack the Ripper vs. Hannibal Lecter
Oprah Winfrey vs. Ellen DeGeneres
Steven Spielberg vs. Alfred Hitchcock
Lewis and Clark vs. Bill and Ted
David Copperfield vs. Harry Houdini
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure this is the most balanced battle. Nvm, there's a closer one.
Terminator vs. Robocop
Alright, we're moving onto East vs. West Philosophers. In the poll, I split it into two categories: teams and individual.
Eastern Philosophers vs. Western Philosophers (Team)
Eastern Philosophers vs. Western Philosophers (Solo)
So yeah, the Western Philosophers barely scrape the win both times. Also, an attentive reader will notice that the first part has 4 "Haven't watched" votes, while the other one has 5. Someone did the poll wrong.
Shaka Zulu vs. Julius Caesar
Jim Henson vs. Stan Lee
You might have noticed the weird haven't watched thing. It turns out, I accidentally left that question unrequired, so someone skipped the question, leaving it with only 90 responses. Due to the fact someone skipped, I assume they haven't watched.
Deadpool vs. Boba Fett
J. R. R. Tolkien vs. George R. R. Martin
Gordon Ramsey vs. Julia Child
Frederick Douglass vs. Thomas Jefferson
James Bond vs. Austin Powers
Bruce Banner vs. Bruce Jenner
Alexander the Great vs. Ivan the Terrible
Well, let's talk about Pompey. At the start, Pompey was leading the poll, however people seemed to vote normally after that. I have my reasons for including him (aka it was funny), though you might disagree and that's totally fine. I would probably upset more people if I excluded him in any case.
Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton
Ash Ketchum vs. Charles Darwin
Wonder Woman vs. Stevie Wonder
Tony Hawk vs. Wayne Gretsky
Theodore Roosevelt vs. Winston Churchill
Nice Peter vs. EpicLLOYD 2
This means that EpicLLOYD has won both times.
Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg
Freddy Krueger vs. Wolverine
Guy Fawkes vs. Che Guevara
Ronald McDonald vs. The Burger King
- Haven't watched: 6 votes (6.6%)
George Carlin vs. Richard Pryor
Once again, I included Bill Cosby for the same reason as Pompey. Cosby did better than 2 people, but none of them did very well anyway. This battle was mostly in contention between Rivers and Williams
Jacques Cousteau vs. Steve Irwin
Mother Teresa vs. Sigmund Freud
Vlad the Impaler vs. Count Dracula
The Joker vs. Pennywise
Thanos vs. J. Robert Oppenheimer
Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden
With that, all 3 election battles had the "winner" be the actual winner of the election. Curious.
Harry Potter vs. Luke Skywalker
Ragnar Lodbrok vs. Richard the Lionheart
Jeff Bezos vs. Mansa Musa
John Wick vs. John Rambo vs. John McClane
Lara Croft vs. Indiana Jones
And that's it. If you made it down here, congrats, you just absorbed a bunch of useless info. Thank you for taking the time to read. I might do something like this again in the future, with opinions on things other than the winners of the battles (things like best battle, season, rapper). But not for a while, considering how long it took to compile this data. Anyways, that's my time, gotta set myself free.

Scroll down for UFC 289 Breakdowns. Below is just a review of last week’s bets.
UFC Vegas 74
Staked: 18.70u
Profit/Loss: -3.31u
Parlay Suggestions: 3-2
✅ 2u Alex Caceres to Win & Arlovski/Mayes Over 1.5 Rounds (+100)
❌ 2u Jim Miller & Jamie Mullarkey to Win (-125)
✅ 2.5u Jim Miller ITD (-105)
✅ 0.5u Jim Miller in Round 1 (+235)
❌ 2u Abubakar Nurmagomedov to Win (-105)
❌ 1.5u Andrei Arlovski to Win by Decision (+200)
❌ 2u Muin Gafarov to Win (-125)
❌ 3u Luan Lacerda to Win (-125)❌ 1u Luan Lacerda to Win by Submission or Decision (+100)
2u Philipe Lins to Win (+140)
Once again I was my own worst enemy, making some good reads once I initially dropped the preview (Lins, Caceres, Elliott) but consistently made tweaks in the build-up that sent things south. I really need to be more disciplined and block out the noise once I’ve made my initial conclusions. I remember when I started posting here I was tipping about four bets maximum…now I apparently have action across almost every fight.
Going forward I think I’ll stop analysing each bet in this section, as no-one seems to really comment on that stuff and it just eats into the overall character count.
So let’s get into the PPV.
UFC 289
This is a weird, weird PPV card. I guess they kind of have to have a title fight at the top of the billing over a number-one contender bout as co-main, but to see Mike Malott, Nate Landwehr and Eryk Anders perform before Charles Oliveira…and then Amanda Nunes as the main event, is quite funny. Canadian MMA has been in ruins since GSP and Rory MacDonald left the UFC, and none of the guys on this card are not the one to restore its glory.
I know I say it every time the PPV event rolls around, but MMA oddsmakers are very sharp for these higher profile events. Once again I find myself coming to very similar conclusions for a lot of the fights here, so I very much expect this one to be a much smaller slate for me. Definitely a good idea given what I said in the review of last week.

Amanda Nunes v Irene Aldana
There’s a very loud narrative surrounding Amanda Nunes these days, and it’s a hard one to ignore. Having been in the UFC for a decade and holding a title for 7 years, there’s literally nothing left for her to do. She’s had the big money fights that Women’s MMA can offer (Rousey, Cyborg & the “redemption” sequel with Pena), and she doesn’t seem interested in setting up another fight with Shevchenko (who, to be fair, she’s beaten twice). What else is there for Nunes to be motivated for?
Outside the cage, She’s started a family with Nina Ansaroff, who also retired very recently and has spoken about wanting a second child with Nunes. The Brazilian has spoken quite candidly about her aspirations to retire very soon as well, and I believe that she would have laid her gloves in the centre of the Octagon if she’d beaten Pena in their initial meeting. She had to right the wrongs in the sequel, but a victory over Pena at UFC 289 to make it 2-1 in the series was probably enough of a narrative for Nunes to put her career to bed then and there. It’s a bold prediction, but I have a hunch that Nunes has done this whole training camp knowing it’s going to be her last.
Unfortunately, Pena was forced to withdraw and Irene Aldana steps in to challenge for the belt instead. Mexican MMA is absolutely booming right now, with three champions in the last few months, and the stage really feels set for Aldana. She’s always had very impressive boxing, as well as some opportunistic submissions…but her inability to stuff takedowns has often been her undoing in her career. Given that Nunes has relied heavily on her wrestling in recent years (20 takedowns in her last 4 wins), I think it’s fair to say Nunes should once again be favoured here.
Women’s Bantamweight and Featherweight have been underdeveloped weight classes for some time now, where the same names that were competing for the belt in like 2019 are still in the top 5 (looking at you Holly Holm!). The next generation seems to have broken through at Flyweight, with Valentina losing her last two title defences (not officially, but I scored the first one quite confidently for Santos). Nunes has been fortunate enough to govern over a division that doesn’t have many of those up-and-coming prospects yet, but those on the rise are still training and competing in a modern MMA context more frequently than the champion – which makes me think the changing of the guard could happen sometime soon. (For more on this, I asked a hypothetical question in the comment section).
So, overall, I think there are a lot of valid asterisks on Nunes’ name at the moment, and I think her career is coming to an end sometime soon, if not after this fight. However, if she’s fighting at her optimum then Aldana’s weaknesses can certainly be exploited, and are enough to deem her the Champion as favourite. With that said, I actually think Aldana could more than hold her own in the striking, so I would already be lining this one closer than Nunes normally is…and after adding in the narrative that surrounds the fight I think it gets even closer.
Therefore, I’ll be playing a 0.5u “value bet” on Aldana. It’s not something I expect to win, but I think her chances of winning are much greater than the odds available.
How I line this fight: Amanda Nunes -175 (64%), Irene Aldana +175 (36%)
Bet or Pass: 0.5u Irene Aldana to Win (+300)
Notable Props: I'd encourage you to play Nunes by Submission or Decision if you wanted to play her.

Charles Oliveira v Beneil Dariush
Oh this is a spicy one. Charles Oliveira holds a special place in my heart as being my favourite fighter of all time, and he’s the fighter I’ve definitely made the most money on in my time betting on MMA. At the start of that massive win streak he went on, you could get a decent price on Oliveira ITD against so many prelim guys, and the underdog prices available against Kevin Lee, Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier were even better.
But, as we know, Islam Makhachev exists and did a sensational job against Oliveira. Such a good job in fact, that I expect it to be footage that Beneil Dariush and his camp have dissected in great detail.
Dariush is an equally exciting fighter to watch. He’s got a brilliant skillset, but he’s not particularly athletic which makes him a very unassuming fighter. He looks like some bloke that works in HR in your office…not an elite Lightweight UFC fighter.
I think Dariush’s BJJ abilities are going to be the key to this fight, as we’ve seen many times in his career already. High level BJJ is a brilliant quality because not only does it make you dangerous at finishing fights, it also improves your defence and provides the platform for a wrestling based offence. We saw Dariush make full use of this in his wins over Tony Ferguson, Carlos Diego Ferreira (x2) and Thiago Moises, as well as his takedown defence on display against Gamrot. I feel like he’s going to be able to dictate where the fight takes place here.
What interests me is the competitiveness of the striking. If you’ve been watching this sport religiously for over seven years, you’ll still remember when Dariush was thought to have a glass jaw, where the likes of Alex Hernandez, Drew Dober and Drakkar Klose hurt him badly with strikes. I feel like Dariush has had quite favourable matchmaking against that weakness on his recent streak, and Oliveira is potentially one of the biggest threats he’s faced on the feet in recent years in terms of power.
On the flipside, Oliveira is still as reckless as ever, and has been knocked down or hurt in each of his last four title fights. Only Makhachev came away with a win in those fights, because his grappling was at a good enough level that he was happy to follow Charles down to the mat when he knocked him down, and capitalised fully to secure the submission soon after. Dariush has sneaky power himself, and if he is able to land a knockdown on Oliveira then I think we see him capitalise too.
The volatility is going to be massive in this fight, as both men are hard hitters with durability concerns (maybe not in a fight ending sense, but they frequently get rocked). With that in mind, I think any sort of finish is going to be very live in this fight. If not, I think you have to give Dariush the decision winning potential, as I think his ability to find top position is greater than Oliveira’s. It’s enough to make Benny the favourite, but not by a whole lot. I think the books have got this one priced spot on, actually.
How I line this fight: Charles Oliveira +110 (48%), Beneil Dariush -110 (52%)
Bet or Pass: Pass
Notable Props: FDGTD is probably a decent parlay piece at -200 or better
Live Betting Lean: I think the longer this fight goes, the more it favours Dariush due to his round winning superiority.

Mike Malott v Adam Fugitt
Honestly the fact that I’m breaking down this fight straight after Oliveira v Dariush is hilarious. I wouldn’t even question it if this was on the prelims of an Apex card.
I underestimated Mike Malott in his last fight against Yohan Lainesse, and my take was so bad that I looked like an idiot. He impressed me a lot, and I think he impressed the UFC too for them to give him this spot on the main card.
Malott looks to have really good submission ability, but I’m still a bit concerned that his striking might be a few too many steps behind. People will say things looked improved in the Lainesse fight, but I think that was more a case of Lainesse having no real interest in engaging or committing to his strikes in the early goings (he has become gunshy as to manage cardio). The fight against Mickey Gall was a massive, massive red flag for Malott…no one in the UFC should really be getting outstruck by Gall. That footage was from a year ago though, so there’s a chance he has improved things since then…but I don’t think you can really use the Lainesse fight as evidence of that.
Malott faces Adam Fugitt, who took the ‘sacrificial lamb’ approach to entering the UFC when he was paired up with Michael Morales – who is lowkey a very bright young prospect. It’s important not to judge a fighter by their performance in that type of fight, it’s best to instead treat their sophomore fight as their ‘real’ debut. We saw that with Fugitt, as he dominated Yusaku Kinoshita as a +260 underdog earlier this year.
I was quite impressed with Fugitt in his loss to Morales. His striking clearly wasn’t on Morales’ level, and he’ll have to be careful of Malott’s powerful hands, but he showed decent defensive awareness and had a couple of moments of his own. Fugitt’s a bit too kick heavy for my liking, but it looks like it confuses opponents and actually works well at establishing range. It did exactly that in his Solomon Renfro win.
Malott’s fight against Renfro however, despite only being 90 seconds long, really sums up his abilities as a fighter. He was getting tagged on the feet, but managed to find one moment to land a powerful shot and sinked in a choke in the blink of an eye. He was losing 98% of that fight convincingly.
The big question for this fight revolves around Fugitt’s grappling ability on bottom, and initial takedown defence, as that’s where most of Malott’s win equity is going to be. Unfortunately we have not actually seen him defensive grapple, so honestly it’s impossible to accurately line this fight given how integral it should be. The only inclination I have is that Fugitt’s takedowns have looked really good in his two fights. DC was very impressed with how he got Morales down, and his trips were also looking on point against Kinoshita. He did great work on top as well when he did establish position, and worked his way to a finish efficiently.
However, there can sometimes be a big disparity between a wrestler’s grappling ability on top vs on bottom, which is why BJJ is so important to MMA (see the breakdown of Dariush!). Therefore, complimenting Fugitt’s top position grappling doesn’t mean a whole lot, as he could be atrocious on bottom, and even if he does use wrestling himself he’s going to dive headfirst into Malott’s nasty guillotine.
So in conclusion, you can’t have super strong opinions on this fight, but you can deduce that Malott has more ways to win. If Fugitt isn’t winning via striking, it’s likely he’s not winning at all. Malott, on the other hand, could win with a big shot on the feet, through takedowns and top control of his own, or even from a guard submission on bottom.
Therefore, with Malott being the hometown hero and likely taking all the betting action on the moneyline, I think the books have the liberty to juice his odds a fair bit. -200 is probably an example of that, but it’s not too far off where I’d line this fight. There are still enough unknowns about both men that I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Fugitt pull off the upset, but I think the +170 available on him in return isn’t providing a whole lot of value. Smart work by the oddsmakers.
How I line this fight: Mike Malott -175 (64%), Adam Fugitt +175 (36%)
Bet or Pass: Pass
Notable Props: Malott by Submission would be the bet I’d make at +200 or better if someone told me I had to. Won’t be playing it though.

Dan Ige v Nate Landwehr
Well it seems the UFC matchmakers have confirmed their position on Dan Ige. He’s a top 15 gatekeeper now! His string of losses to Evloev, Emmett, Korean Zombie and Kattar did put one too many nails in his title aspiration coffin, but those bounce-back performances against Gavin Tucker and Damon Jackson were pretty impressive to me.
Ige is still a very, very tricky fighter to beat because he’s so well rounded, as most of the top 15 at Featherweight are. Ige faces Nate Landwehr, who has been on an entertaining run of form in the UFC – beating the likes of Ludovit Klein, David Onama and Austin Lingo. Whilst running through his record, it is important to note he went to a close decision in a striking bout against Darren Elkins, and also lost to Herbert Burns and Julian Erosa.
As I say quite often in higher level FeatheBantam/Fly-Weight breakdowns, they’re very tricky divisions to identify skill gaps in. The elite in the division are all very well-rounded offensively and defensively, so it often feels like you’re splitting hairs when you’re trying to find attributes that favour one fighter over the other.
The same can kind of be said here, except Dan Ige has the much better record in terms of actual wins and overall experience. If I imagine Nate Landwehr competing against Ige’s last eight opponents, I genuinely think he might win 1 or 2 of them…whilst Ige has won 4, not been finished in any of the losses and given a good account of himself on each scorecard (except the Evloev loss).
So honestly, the only real thing I feel I can reference here in terms of differentiating between both men is ‘levels’…but I genuinely think that’s enough for Ige to be about -200 here. You can’t go any further than that because this fight should still be reasonably competitive, but given what Ige has done to the opponents he’s stepped down in competition for (Damon Jackson, Gavin Tucker), I think you can have a certain degree of confidence that he should find that extra 10% to clearly win this fight. That equates to around -175 in my mind.
How I line this fight: Dan Ige -175 (64%), Nate Landwehr +175 (36%)
Bet or Pass: Pass
Notable Props: Ige ITD could be of some interest, as he’s started showing real power in his hands, and Landwehr is quite finish-able in his losses.

Marc-Andre Barriault v Eryk Anders
Eryk Anders is one of the most frustrating guys to watch. He had so much athleticism and decent skills, but just doesn’t put his best foot forward. Barely any evolution to his game, poor fight IQ…but the occasional glimmers of potential – enough to stop you from writing him off despite his constant underdelivering.
Marc-Andre Barriault is kind of the opposite really. He’s a jack-of-all-trades, master of none…but he will do everything in his power to maximise his advantages to turn the fight in his favour. He isn’t a physical specimen and doesn’t really have much power…but he can hustle hard for 15 minutes and use a mixture of striking, takedowns and clinch work to win rounds.
Anders has actually had some of his better performances in recent fights, looking in great shape and form against Kyle Daukaus, arguably beating Jun Yong Park by decision, and outpoint + KO’ing Darren Stewart (x2) beforehand.
If this fight was happening two years ago, MAB would be like -200 here due to his reliability to out-hustle Anders, but his recent performances have been a little bit lacklustre (Hernandez ragdolled him and Chidi Njokuani folded him like a deckchair). Couple that with the fact that Anders FINALLY looks to be growing into the potential he’s always been on the cusp of with a recent change in training camp…I think you’re looking at a closely lined fight here.
I predict this one ends up being a 29-28, possibly split decision type of fight. One man has activity whilst the other has power. The subjectivity of judging will be in full effect and everyone will call this one a robbery, depending on who they bet on.
How I line this fight: Marc-Andre Barriault +100 (50%), Eryk Anders +100 (50%)
Bet or Pass: Pass
Notable Props: Barriault by Decision would probably be my preferred choice.

Jasmine Jasudavicius v Miranda Maverick
Miranda Maverick is a Women’s MMA fighter that I hold in very high regard. The back-to-back losses put a real halt to her hype train, but I think she’s easily got Top 10 potential and got robbed against Maycee Barber anyway. I think her style is one that can very easily exploit a lot of opponents in her division. Her striking’s okay, but her wrestling and top pressure are very dominant tools.
She takes on Jasmine Jasudavicius, who has also used her wrestling ability to good effect in the UFC/DWCS so far. Neither woman is a particularly good striker, and I expect this one to turn into a bit of a scramble fest pretty quickly.
Their statures have been very important factors in their grappling successes so far, but for different reasons. JJ is basically a size bully at 5’7 and will have a 4 inch height advantage once again. Maverick, on the other hand, is going to be the stronger of the two during those close quarter engagements, because she’s pretty damn jacked.
I think Maverick should be favoured overall as I think her wrestling is the superior of the two and should lead to more time in top position, but I’m definitely not keen to play her at -275. Miranda’s strengths are also her opponent’s strengths, and facing the lanky size of Jasudavicius could cause her problems when it comes to securing the initial takedowns against those long legs, or keeping safe from guard submissions or maintaining that dominant position in the first place. Also, if they do somehow end up choosing to strike for significant portions, I can’t actually guarantee that Maverick is the better on the feet (reach disadvantage plays a part too).
I do however like Maverick to win this one, but not by the confidence of the current odds. I’m expecting this one to go the distance, but I highly doubt we get a good line on it as Maverick couldn’t even finish Shanna Young last time out.
How I line this fight: Jasmine Jasudavicius +188 (35%), Miranda Maverick -188 (65%)
Bet or Pass: Pass.
Notable Props: Fight goes to decision. It's probably like -400.

Blake Bilder v Kyle Nelson
There are a couple of fights on this card where one guy is clearly more populasuccessful/in-form than their opponent, but they’re still only around -200 (Dan Ige & Mike Malott are the best examples). Blake Bilder is the third. Before I jumped into research for all three of these bouts, I was instinctively thinking that I could easily want to bet all three at -200, as that didn’t seem short enough by my initial perception of their names. I came away from Ige and Malott agreeing with the line and feeling grateful that I looked into it…but I still think Blake Bilder’s odds are providing a bit of value.
Kyle Nelson is one of those fodder guys. The UFC are keeping him around to give to prospects and home-town fighters in the hope that they can invest in the future or the event itself. Jai Herbert notched a win for Team UK against Nelson on a UFC London card, Doo Ho Choi got given a softball to get him back on track for a card that was supposed to be in South Korea. Billy Quarantillo got given Nelson to put his name on the map with a highlight reel finish..and now Blake Bilder is being presented the chance to extend his UFC record to 2-0.
Bilder’s already fought a better opponent in the UFC when he beat Shane Young in February. We saw a very high pace being set in the third round of that fight, with both men landing 100+ significant strikes across the fight and Bilder also attempting 7 takedowns. His cardio is clearly quite decent, which will immediately give him the advantage over Nelson – who has often wilted in the latter half of a fight when the pace has been hectic.
Bilder’s a very well-rounded combatant, and has great BJJ once he gets established time on top. He’s a bit of a concern defensively though, where he can be taken down and can also get caught with strikes.
Kyle Nelson, on the other hand, doesn’t really seem to know what kind of fighter he is. He’s been a brawler for all of his UFC career, but comes out to land five takedowns and is seemingly not interested in striking with a Doo Ho Choi who has questionable durability. He didn’t do much at all with those takedowns either and actually put himself in danger in R1 by insisting on grappling.
If Nelson comes out looking to wrestle Bilder, I think they’re at different levels in the grappling and Blake should be able to turn things around in his favour. If they’re striking, I am aware that Nelson’s got fight ending power, but Bilder’s been much more patient and cerebral in his last couple of fights, so I trust him to stay safe and look for his openings. We saw him reactively find a takedown off of Shane Young’s kick, and Nelson’s offense is very body kick heavy.
Overall, I just think Bilder is the better fighter in pretty much every facet of MMA except one-punch power and, as long as he doesn’t get flash KO’d, I think he rolls here. -200 isn’t quite short enough, and I expect money to come in on him between now and fight night. I’ve already got my money down, just in case.
How I line this fight: Blake Bilder -300 (75%), Kyle Nelson +300 (25%)
Bet or Pass: 5u Blake Bilder to Win (-200)
Notable Props: Bilder ITD or R3 could be interesting. I'd probably be interested in that if I didn't have a lot of exposure already.
Aiemann Zahabi v Aoriqileng
There was a time where Aiemann Zahabi was considered one of the worst guys on the roster. Crazy that the standard of UFC fighter has gotten so much worse that that statement seems ridiculous now. To be fair, Zahabi did pull off a respectable upset in beating Ricky Turcios in his last fight..but it seems to be unanimously agreed that Ricky fought like an idiot in that fight and actually beat himself.
Aoriqileng is quite explosive and clearly hits hard, but he’s a bit too keen to hunt for the KO and it hurts his minute-winning ability. Against someone like Zahabi, who is quite composed and process driven (how could you not be when Firas is your family and coach), and I see that being a pretty key part to this fight. The big moments will side with the Mongolian, but Aiemann could just put together the more cohesive performance if he doesn’t get troubled by that explosiveness.
Overall this is just a pretty low level fight between guys who don’t compete very often. I didn’t have a whole lot to say prior to watching tape, and I’ve come away feeling equally uncertain of how this one’s going to end. An easy pass when there are more active and popular fighters for us to form a stronger opinion on.
How I line this fight: I don’t really know.
Bet or Pass: Pass
Notable Props: None

Nassourdine Imavov v Chris Curtis
This one instantly feels like a pretty close fight, solely based off both men’s most recent losses. Imavov getting outstruck by Sean Strickland across 25 minutes was a bit of a shock to everyone, myself included. I expected him to lose via cardio dump, but it was actually just lesser volume, a lack of takedowns being attempted and obviously not landing anything of significance on Strickland.
It’s widely known that Chris Curtis and Sean Strickland are close training partners at Xtreme Couture, which I think makes for an added element to this fight. On six days notice, Strickland and the team managed to devise a pretty genius striking gameplan with disruptive rhythm that completely threw Imavov of. Can Chris Curtis do the same? Probably.
Curtis himself has problems of his own in the striking though, namely that his volume and output just aren’t where they often need to be. I’m not sure whether it’s the managing of his gas tank or what, but he just doesn’t seem able to commit to matching his opponent’s tempo across 15 minutes. He threw the first round away against Gastelum, and it cost him the fight. He bitched and moaned about it on Twitter, but social media’s been telling the guy what his problem is for as long as he’s been in the UFC haha.
I do suspect that there’s a little bit of recency bias on Imavov here, as the guy was a pretty well-respected prospect prior to the loss to Strickland. Some will tell you it was misplaced faith, but he certainly doesn’t have tempo issues in the latter half of fights and should probably have the higher volume across 15 minutes. I don’t see him taking Curtis down either, given the 100% takedown defence and the fact Imavov seemingly abandoned it in his last fight. It would be great if he did though!
So yeah, it’s a bit of a close one this. Off pure skillset I lean towards Imavov at like -150, but the asterisk of Curtis’ team being able to easily design a gameplan against the Frenchman gives me enough pause to not want to pick a side here. I’d be more interested in betting overs, if a decent price is available.
How I line this fight: Nassourdine Imavov -137 (58%), Chris Curtis +137 (42%)
Bet or Pass: 1.5u Fight Goes to Decision (-137 or better)
Notable Props: I think this one goes to decision at a pretty high clip.

Diana Belbita v Maria Oliveira
My initial thought was “What would compel someone to bet on this fight?”, then I remember I placed 100 quid on Chase Hooper a few weeks ago…and it was a great bet haha! Given how most of my handicapping for this card has seen me in complete agreement with the books, perhaps looking into a lower level fight with significantly less interest could be the place to a strong opinion!?
Nope. I can’t do it. One quick glance at their records was enough for me. Belbita got 30-25’d by a wrestling Molly McCann and submitted by Liana Jojua, whilst Maria Oliveira got soundly beaten on the scorecards by Vanesa Demopoulos and voluntarily asked to stop fighting after 3 minutes against Marina Rodriguez.
This one isn’t good enough to open an Apex card, let alone sit on a PPV. I usually really dislike all the WMMA bashing on this sub, but this one isn’t worth the time.
How I line this fight: No.
Bet or Pass: No.
Notable Props: No.
Live Betting Lean: You could do something productive with that 15 minutes. Lift some weights, make some food, rewatch Ngannou v Lewis instead?

Bets
0.5u Irene Aldana to Win (+300)
5u Blake Bilder to Win (-200)
1.5u Imavov v Curtis Goes to Decision (-137 or better) (Might not get this kind of price).
Parlay Do’s: Dan Ige, Blake Bilder, Imavov/Curtis GTD, Maverick/Jasudavicius GTD
Parlay Don’ts: Amanda Nunes, Mike Malott, Miranda Maverick

2023.06.04 20:27 Biopride777 Noob Question about Ogre Bruiser

I am new to the game and am building around WAP rules. I am coming up with my first ogre kingdoms list and looking to buy miniatures. I can’t find a miniature for ogre bruisers? Do I use a miniature from gluttons or man eater? I would like one to be a BSB and another with a brace of pistols. Thanks for the help.

2023.06.04 20:23 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 82. Memphis

Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings
What if I told you Memphis made Peyton Manning the QB he is today? In 1996, Memphis hosted junior QB Peyton Manning and #6 Tennessee late in the season. Memphis was just 3-6, while Tennessee was 6-1 and in the hunt for a national title. In true college football chaos fashion, the 26 point underdog Tigers pulled off a 21-17 win, scoring a TD with just 34 seconds to go. Returner Kevin Cobb took back a controversial 95 kick return for TD in which it looked like his knee was down, but the refs ruled it a TD. The play won an ESPY for college football play of the year, and the win was one of the biggest in school history.

Memphis: 1-11 (-67.338) Overall Score: 10364 (82nd)
60 NFL players is a LOT. Especially for a Group of 5 team. Memphis has produced the most NFL draftees of anyone on the list so far with 60, more than the 6 Power 5 teams we’ve seen including Iowa State, Indiana, Kansas, and Rutgers. Primarily they’ve been a RB factory in recent years, producing NFL RBs DeAngelo Williams, Tony Pollard, Antonio Gibson, Darrell Henderson, and Kenneth Gainwell. The first 3 produced 1000+ yard rushing seasons in the NFL, while Gainwell ran for 100 yards in a playoff game last year, and Henderson won a Super Bowl with the Rams recently. They also have a shout to be Special Teams U, producing All-American K Joe Allison, All-American P Tom Hornsey, NFL 2010s All-Decade K Stephen Gostkowski, and current NFL starting kickers Jake Elliott and Riley Patterson.

Top 5 Seasons

Worst Season: 2010 (1-11 overall, 0-8 Conference USA)
I can only imagine how helpless Dontari Poe felt. The 6’3 345 lb DT would be drafted with the 11th overall pick just 2 years later, and was a standout talent on an otherwise hapless Memphis team. Memphis ranked bottom 5 in both offense (14.4 PPG) and defense (39.8 PPG) in 2010, losing 8 games by 20+ points. Freshman punter Tom Hornsey probably enjoyed the inept offense, getting to punt 80 times for a 42.7 yard average. Hornsey would go on to be a consensus All-American 3 years later in 2013. They somehow beat Middle Tennessee 24-17, who made a bowl. But a 17-56 loss to 5-7 Houston was bad. Most of the blame fell on the shoulders of first year head coach Larry Porter, who prior to his hiring, had never been a head coach or even coordinator. Porter came from LSU’s RB coach position, and has returned to coaching RBs ever since his firing in 2011. As one cfb member put it, “Larry Porter almost got our program cancelled.”
5. 2003 (9-4 overall, 5-3 Conference USA)
After beating Tennessee Tech 40-10 in the opener, Memphis made themselves nationally known in week 2, beating Eli Manning and Ole Miss 44-34. Memphis QB Danny Wimprine outdueled Manning, throwing for 355 yards and 3 TD with no picks, also catching a 34 yard pass on a trick play. Future NFL RB Deangelo Williams burst onto the scene, racking up 166 and 3 TD from scrimmage on 32 touches. Ole Miss was a good team that year too, they’d finish 10-3 with a #13 final ranking. Memphis had a hangover after the game though, and won just 1 of their next 4. They grouped together to win 5 straight by an average score of 37-14, before losing to USF 16-21 in the final regular season game. Tied for 3rd place in C-USA, Memphis faced 3 straight Sun Belt champs North Texas in the New Orleans Bowl, shutting down any UNT passing game for a 27-17 win. Junior QB Danny Wimprine threw for 3000+ yards with 22 TD 13 INT, and would finish his career next season as Memphis’ all-time leading passer with 10,215 yards and 81 TD. DeAngelo Williams won C-USA Offensive POTY with just 11 games played, going for 1814 yards from scrimmage. Sophomore K Stephen Gostkowski was 19/29 on FGs.
4. 2017 (10-3 overall, 7-1 American)
By 2017, Memphis was known as one of the more solid Group of 5 programs, having gone 27-12 over the previous 3 years, located in an area with lots of local talent. QB Riley Ferguson and WR Anthony Miller returned for their seniors year after a great 2016 connection, and would level up in 2017. In week 3 they hosted #25 UCLA and Josh Rosen, who had just completed a 34-point comeback against Texas A&M 2 weeks prior. Ferguson was the better QB on the day, throwing for 6 TD in a 48-45 upset win. After a 3-0 start they’d lose 13-40 to a UCF team that would finish the season unbeaten. A few weeks later, a 30-27 win over #25 Navy would give Memphis their second win over a top 25 team in one season, their first time ever doing so. Other wins included 42-38 over Houston after being down 14-31 in the 3rd quarter, 66-45 over 7-6 SMU, and 70-13 over East Carolina. It was #20 UCF (11-0) vs #20 Memphis (10-1) for the AAC title, and UCF, a team of destiny that year, would win 62-55 in OT in one of the games of the year. Memphis played an emotional Iowa State team in the bowl, who was having their best season in decades, and lost by 1 point.
Ferguson threw for 4257 yards 38 TD 9 INT, completing a fantastic 2-season career after transferring from community college. RB Patrick Taylor Jr. got the bulk of carries with 157 for 866 yards and 13 TD, but it was Darrell Henderson who popped off with 1154 rushing yards on 8.9(!!!) yards per carry. Anthony Miller was a consensus All-American with 96 catches for 1462 yards and 18 TD, leading the nation in TD catches. LB Genard Avery had a stellar season on the defensive side with 80 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 13.5 TFL.
This was one of the best offenses in the country, ranking 2nd in PPG with 45.5.
3. 2015 (9-4 overall, 5-3 American)
Justin Fuente was building something special at Memphis. Hired to clean up the mess Larry Porter left, Fuente had Memphis go 10-3 in 2014, his 3rd year, ending on a 7 game win streak. With that momentum, the Tigers started hot in 2015. A 55-23 win over Kansas in week 2 wasn’t even close, outgaining them 651-359. After wins over eventual MAC champion Bowling Green, and eventual bowl teams Cincinnati and USF, Memphis improved to 5-0, set to host #13 Ole Miss. In front of 60,000 fans, Memphis owned the Rebels, scoring 31 straight points in a 37-24 win. Memphis looked like a legit team that could compete with Power 5 schools for the first time ever. 2 wins later, they were up to #13 in the nation with a win streak of 15 games dating back to last season. The wheels would fall off against 6-1 Navy though. A -3 turnover margin was costly, as Navy just chewed clock on drives in a 45-20 win. Navy would go on to finish #18 and Keenan Reynolds was top 5 in Heisman voting. Originally the media darlings as the top ranked G5 team, #21 Memphis now faced unbeaten #24 Houston, who came back from down 34-14 in the 4th quarter to win by 1 point. Memphis slipped again, losing 12-31 to a really underrated Temple team, before taking their frusturations out in a 63-0 win over SMU. The 63-0 win had…the wildest statline I’ve ever seen? Ferguson went 9/14 on passes for 222 yards and 7 TD. Seven touchdowns on nine completions???
The year ended with an uneventful 31-10 loss to Auburn in the bowl. It was kind of a “what if” season for Memphis, losing 4 of their last 5, but still their 3rd best season in the last 40 years. Lynch parlayed a 3776 passing yard 28 TD 4 INT season into a 1st round selection by the Denver Broncos, successfully scamming the Elways. Somewhat deserved though, this team had just 1 other 1st/2nd team all-conference player in OL Taylor Fallin, so Lynch carried most of the load. Fuente left for the head coaching job at Virginia Tech after the season.
2. 2014 (10-3 overall, 7-1 American)
The year before 2015 was slightly better. This team was young and nobody knew who they were yet, as they’d gone just 12-48 over the previous 5 seasons. The media could smell something brewing under Fuente though, as Memphis was picked 7th out of 11 teams in the American, giving them a solid shot at making a bowl. Memphis surprised everyone in week 2, playing #11 UCLA to a 35-42 loss in the Rose Bowl (venue, not game). A 41-14 win over Cincinnati in week 5 signalled that Memphis had truly arrived, the offense clicking on all cylinders with 610 yards and 0 turnovers. After a loss to Houston, Memphis was 3-3 and 1-1 in the American, about to get into the meat of conference play. Easy wins over SMU and Tulsa improved their record to 5-3, and a walkoff FG for a 16-13 win over 5-3 Temple earned them bowl eligibility for the first time in 6 years. At 6-3 and 4-1 in the American, Memphis just needed to win their last 3 games to claim the conference title. A soft remaining schedule consisted of Tulane, USF, and UConn, whose combined record at the end of the year was 9-27. Memphis won all 3 easily, and clinched a share of the American title with Cincinnati and UCF, completing a dream regular season. They had a wild game in the Miami Beach Bowl, beating BYU 55-48, and tempers erupted at the end of the game, leading to one of the best brawls of the decade.
Memphis achieved double digit wins for the first time in school history and finished #25, their first top 25 finish ever. LB Tank Jakes won AAC Defensive POTY with 92 tackles, 6 sacks, and 9.5 TFL. K Jake Elliott was the AAC Special Teams POTY, going 21/32 on FGs, ranking 1st in the AAC in scoring, and hit a 54 yard FG in the bowl. Justin Fuente won AAC Coach of the Year. Memphis football was back!
1. 2019 (12-2 overall, 7-1 American)
This team was LOADED offensively. QB Brady White, the second year starting QB who transferred from Arizona State, could hand the ball off to future NFL RB Kenneth Gainwell, or throw to all-conference WR Damonte Coxie or future NFL players Antonio Gibson and Calvin Austin III. The year started strong with a 15-10 shutdown of Ole Miss, followed up by a 5-0 start. #23 Memphis lost in a 28-30 upset to Temple, but that’d be the Tigers’ last loss all regular season. With College GameDay attending, #24 Memphis beat #15 unbeaten SMU 54-48 in an absolute barnburner, Antonio Gibson going for 97 rushing yards, 130 receiving yards, 159 kick return yards, and 3 total TD. And he touched the ball just 12 times!!! That’s 386 yards on 12 touches! Memphis needed to win their final regular season game against #19 Cincinnati to make the American championship game, and grinded out a 34-24 win. The two would rematch a week later, and Cincinnati would give a better effort, but the Bearcats were too depleted at this point in the season, and Memphis scored a late TD to win 29-24 and claim their 2nd conference title in 5 years. #17 Memphis earned the Group of 5 slot for a New Years 6 bowl and played admirably against #10 Penn State, losing 39-53 in a fun game. The two were polar opposites, Memphis throwing for 479 yards and rushing for 53, while Penn State threw for 133 and rushed for 396.
Brady White finished 2nd Team all-conference, throwing for 4014 yards 33 TD 11 INT. He’d go on to finish his career a year later as Memphis’ all-time leading passer with 10,949 yards and 92 TD. Freshman RB Kenneth Gainwell had an unreal year, rushing for 1459 yards and 13 TD on 6.3 YPC while also catching 51 passes for 610 yards and 3 TD. WR Damonte Coxie was 2nd Team all-conference with 1276 receiving yards. Do-it-all WR Antonio Gibson put on a show all year long with 369 rushing yards and 4 TD on 11.2 YPC, 38 catches for 735 yards and 8 TD, and won AAC Special Teams POTY with 28 yards per kick return and a TD. Even TE Joey Magnifico was all-conference.
2019 Memphis is my 42nd best Group of 5 team since 1983.

5th Quarter

What play/playegame do you think of when you think of Memphis? Who was a better coach at Memphis, Justin Fuente or Mike Norvell? Fuente rescued Memphis from the depths they were in and built a solid foundation, while Norvell took it a step further, making a New Years 6 Bowl. How would you rank these QBs in college: Paxton Lynch, Riley Ferguson, and Brady White? How would you rank these RBs in college: DeAngelo Williams, Darrell Henderson, Tony Pollard, Kenneth Gainwell? What’d you think of those Fuente/Norvell teams that were beating top 25 teams on a yearly basis, were you scared of them? And how do you think Memphis should fare when it comes to conference expansion, are they a nice program to add?

2023.06.04 20:17 AcidBird6921 New, curious, but nervous about swinger clubs

I’m very interested in checking out the swinger sex club here in Austin, called Collette. The idea of group sex turns me on. However, I am a single man, and I am wondering if single men at these clubs have any success or are just totally ignored. And if I go, would it be okay to go completely alone, or should I take another single male with me? If I go, I want to have the best experience possible. And finally, are there actually attractive people at these clubs?
