Starsector: 2D RPG/Trade/Fleet Combat Game
2013.01.10 06:49 spaceindaver Starsector: 2D RPG/Trade/Fleet Combat Game
It used to be called Starfarer. 2D RPG/Trade/Fleet Combat Game
2023.03.27 08:33 JayCee_D_Eychess New start scenario: Shattered Omega
Role play as someone with a damaged omega core in their head. Side with Midnight Dissonance, eliminate all non-supporters of AI. Endgame of full remnant fleet. Essential mods would be stuff that increase level limit, nexerelin and maybe HMI, as well as Frontier storyline. AI Colonies. Utilize Cryosleepers.
REALLY value the first Alpha AI you get a hold of, make sure they are made admin of main colony. End the game with the headcannon that you and the Alpha get together.
Sieze Ziggurat, every Cryosleeper, Hypershunt, etc. Destroy all hostile AI fleets and battlestation (they don't follow the directive). Or destroy them anyway, even if they're neutral. Turn the Persean Sector into an AI stronghold, powerful enough to deal with whatever hell awaits on the other side, when the gates are inevitably reopened.
Your body eventually rots away, but the core will forever remain. Eternal ownership of the sector achieved.

2023.03.26 13:49 BenisConsumption How can I disable invasions for a specific faction?
[Nexerelin, Tahlan Shipworks]
Legio Infernalis turns my campaign into a neverending chain of chasing Legio invasion fleets in order to prevent them from expanding any further, as without my intervention Legio never fails to invade a colony, and counterinvasions/rebellions against them always fail.
So, is there a way to make Legio behave like pirates, so that they never invade anyone, while all other factions are free to do so?
Just to be clear, I do not want to disable Legio alltogether, as I very much like their Daemons when they are in my fleet, and I enjoy the challenge of having to fight their overpowered fleets in order to obtain their overpowered ships, I just don't want to do it all the time.

2023.03.26 12:24 BackgroundHere How is accessibility penalty for distance from other colonies calculated?
Colonies created in the fringes of the sector have a massive accessibility penalty that practically sets them at minus accessibility for planets with only a spaceport. Unfortunately, the fringes of the sector are usually where the Cryosleepers tend to be located.
Exactly what formula does the game run off on to calculate the accessibility penalty? I've also heard somewhere that accessibility penalty is only shaved off if nearby colonies have industries or is of a certain size, is this true? I want to set up my main colonies nearby a cryosleeper, then create other colonies further away from those colonies. The other colonies that aren't my main colonies are those that I intend to give to other factions (via Nexerelin functions) in order to reduce the accessibility penalty for being away from the core worlds. Will this work?

2023.03.24 19:03 BackgroundHere Can you use operatives in Nexerelin to steal colony special items?
Like the title asks, is it possible to steal colony special items using operatives in the Nexerelin mod? For instance, is it possible to use operatives to, for instance, smuggle a Synchrotron core out of Syndria?
I ask this because I just feel like such an option exists and I simply haven't found it. There's a lot of options in Nexerelin and so much stuff you can do with operatives ranging from diplomacy to espionage and sabotage, and many I haven't tried/know that I feel like an option like this might be hiding in the interface screen in some obscure tab or options. (Like the ability to join an alliance being under the special functions tab when interacting with a faction's planet)
It makes sense in my head, at least, that if your operatives can blackmail and grease palms to smuggle AN ENTIRE CAPITAL SHIP worth millions of credits to wherever, smuggling a colony special item would just require a lot of credits, good operatives, and a long espionage campaign.
At the very least, they should be able to sabotage the colony item to render it unusable.

2023.03.21 16:50 The_Dude1324 Galactic Domination
Hello, been playing for some months now, absolutely love the game, downloaded the UAF and nexerelin to further enhance the universe. my plan this playthrough is to utilize UAF ships exclusively to conquer the sector. I have already gaielned acces too November Auxiliary armory and already have a capable special task group, one planet of my own faction and 2 stations. one world which I govern for the UAF, is quite profitable but I don't know how to take it for myself without invading and pissing off a faction I know I'll get wiped by. suggestions? thinking about expanding further into the sector and becoming a stronger faction on my own first. maybe create and alliance with them and betray them
edit: If I break my commission with the UAF, will they start to attack my nearby colonies? I might be able to join an alliance since my relationship is 100

2023.03.21 16:11 OwlGuy_ Nexerelin: constant war (rant?)
Am I unlucky or is nexerelin actively trying to keep a state of war. Does not matter if "unaligned" factions get eliminated or there are only few left. Even with operatives trying to constantly raise relations. War breaks out every second or third month. (No revenche claims, well aligned and for 5-10 years in an alliance)
... Lead me to wipe every single one in my first modded playthrough, since I wanted to do something else than defend my turf.

2023.03.12 19:49 VinhBlade How to stop modded factions from respawning?
I have the (Nexerelin?) setting to disable faction respawning, and yet these factions still do..... GMDA, Legion Infernalis, Ascendancy, to name a few. Is there an option in a .json file, or Console Command to get rid of these factions permanently? I'm already lagging enough with the current bloated factions

2023.03.12 09:56 camy252 Spacer Start - What do people do first?
So I've just started the Spacer Start (using Nexerelin mod and debt removed config tweak) but not really sure what to do first.
I thought I'd take on some simple survey missions but I don't have the crew for it. And I can't take on basic courier or transport missions because there's no option to 'accept' them and by the time I get to the mission giver station, the mission has disappeared from my Intel page.
I don't want spoilers or cheaty type tips, I just need a little advice on what direction will get the ball rolling here. Is there a way to accept the missions that appear in the Intel page?

2023.03.12 02:47 SteelBeamDreamTeam Invading a colony (Nexerelin)
I invaded a colony, and when the ground battle was over it was automatically turned over to the faction I have a commission with. Is that standard practice? Or did I forget to do something to keep the colony myself.

2023.03.12 00:41 good2seeyou2 [Nexerelin] How to make special task group follow orders?
| When I try to order it to do anything it just starts patrolling the system that it's in. For example, I tried to make it follow my fleet but all it did was just start following my fleet for a few seconds then return to patrolling system. How do I fix this? Is this intended? (Btw I made this special task group from the comms menu then go to station commander and make special task group it isn't just a random one) EDIT: Using the unstuck button I managed to make it stop patrolling the system but if it goes near the system then it will start patrolling again, so I then moved to another system and made it follow me in and now it seems fixed it doesn't keep patrolling any system anymore :). 2023.03.07 13:52 camy252 Best start settings to get a 'zero to hero' start? [Nexerelin]
I'm all about humble beginnings in games but I can't seem to find the right settings to get the very lowest of assets for my first start.
Tried 'free start' and the smallest ship I could find but it still has 30x crew members and I start with 20k.
Possible to start this game with just one small ship, one crew and no faction affiliation?
Does having the Nex mod change this side of things?

2023.03.05 11:06 BackgroundHere Legio Infernalis is not an end game threat in my game.
I want to fight the Legio Infernalis.
Like the title says, the Legio Infernalis, for some whatever reason, hasn't grown to become an end game threat like I heard everyone else said they would become. They have a couple conquered planets, and are using demon AI cores on their ships, but nothing much else. When I conquered one of their size 5 planets in their main system to see what that would do, they only sent a saturation bombardment fleet to my colonies that got wiped out by my colony defenses. I have nexerelin and chose the option to skip the main storyline quest. Maybe that did something?
I have roughly 3 billion monthly colony income, a very good fleet that wipes out everything I've encountered so far, and would like to see the full brunt of the force the Legio Infernalis can throw at the sector and myself. Do I need to simply wait until the Legio Infernalis continues to conquer a few more planets, or do I need to do something?

2023.03.04 19:02 LetsDrake Remnant contact?
Hey, I've been playing a Nexerelin run for a while and heard there was a remnant contact that would allow you to do missions and get friendly with them. I was wondering where I can find him. I've only surveyed about a quarter of the sector yet. Do I just need to search more or actively talk to a remnant nexus/ hypershunt? If I am wrong about the mod it is in then please correct me. Thanks!

2023.02.28 11:26 camy252 New Player - Final mod list - Thoughts?
Big thanks to the folks who responded to my recent post for advising on what mods to go with for my first playthrough. I know a few people advised against using mods for my first time but I've done a lot of reading into the available mods, and there's just so much stuff I want to include and I just don't want to miss out on any of these features.
So here is my final mod list that I'm going to download and install tonight. Any final thoughts?
I've also got some last minute questions as well:
- Should I upgrade my Java to JR8? Any draw backs to doing it even if I dont have enough mods to normally need it. (I've already changed my vram file to use 8192m)
- Do I need to worry about mod order? If so, how do I order them?
- Are there any graphics tweaks or settings that are strongly recommended by the community?
- I've very on the fence about 3 mods (see below 'undecided'). Not having played the game yet, I'm not sure how the ship upgrading/XP works so I'm not sure if i'll benefit or enjoy these. Think its worth using them?
Definites (EDITED: As per further recommendations, I've added two more to this list) - Nexerelin
- Industrial Evolution
- Terraforming and Station Construction
- Grand Colonies
- Unknown Skies
- Detailed Combat Results
- Hazard Mining Inc
- Missing ships
- Commissioned Crews
- Space Truckin'
- Captain's Log
- QoL Pack
- Combat Chatter
- Junk Yard Dogs
- (ADDED) Better Deserved S-Mods
- (ADDED) Speed-Up
Undecided Ditching
- Fleet Size by DP
- Progressive S-Mods

2023.02.26 13:50 BackgroundHere Is there a way to wage a proxy war in Nexerelin?
Exactly what the title says. I want certain markets to either be removed or eventually conquered by myself, but I don't want my own colonies to be threatened by retaliation from the faction that owns those markets, nor do I want my relations with said faction to decrease. Also, I don't want to go through the hassle of acquiring all the marines and heavy armaments and then taking it to conquer a planet that's well defended. Unless if it's been recently conquered and thus the defenses are weaker and the original owner of that market wouldn't mind me taking it. Hence the idea to wage a proxy war.
Is there a feature that allows me to direct one faction to attack another faction in Nexerelin through political manipulative schenanigans?

2023.02.26 05:42 14865315874 Should I download the fuel company mod?
The problem I have with the dictact is that they are so weak.
In my first game with nexerelin they got crush by UAF(they occupied sindria) and then the hegemony finished them off.
In my second game they alsmost got destroyed by persean league and hegemony (and they managed to somehow make cruor decivilized) I have save them by getting a emergency commission and then join the battle with multiple battleships (sorry I got the Gown wrong I use it to defend spindle from the hegemony not the dictact).
I wonder will the auspicious supreme chief gas station manager be better at defending himself against the onslaught(no puns intended) of faction warfare.
