2023.06.03 07:34 fdubhardbeamyj64 Me (F22) dealing with the lose of my BF (M24)
I woke up that morning filled with excitement, eagerly awaiting the day I would marry my beloved Michael. However, fate had other plans. A devastating accident snatched him away from me, leaving my heart shattered into countless pieces. Every day feels like a battle against the overwhelming sadness that engulfs me. In an attempt to hold onto the love we shared, I treasure the journal he gifted me. It has become my refuge, filled with cherished memories and dreams that will never come to pass. I embark on the adventures we had planned, but the joy that once accompanied them has faded into a bittersweet ache. Loneliness seeps into every corner of my existence, and the absence of his touch and laughter weighs heavily on my soul. I yearn for his presence, for the warmth of his embrace, but he remains forever out of reach. The thought of finding another man feels disloyal to his memory, as if I would be betraying the love we had. I am lost, desperately seeking advice on how to navigate this seemingly endless sea of sadness. How can I find solace when the person who understood me best is no longer by my side? How do I learn to live with the void he left behind? I long for guidance, for a glimmer of hope to light my path through this dark and desolate journey. Advice: Losing a loved one is an incredibly painful experience, and the grieving process is different for everyone. It's important to give yourself permission to mourn and feel the sadness. Consider seeking support from friends, family, or a support group who have gone through similar experiences. Professional counseling or therapy can also provide valuable guidance and help you navigate the complexities of grief. Remember, healing takes time, and it's okay to take small steps towards rebuilding your life at your own pace.
TL;DR: Devastated by the loss of her fiancé, a girl seeks advice on coping with the overwhelming sadness and finds herself hesitant to find love again, yearning for guidance in navigating her grief.

2023.06.03 07:09 Hnikuthr The results are in - WA is the nation's premier jurisdiction, NSW overturned more times by the HCA than any other state
Spurred on by a sense of patriotic Victorian fury at the jibes directed towards the Victorian Supreme Court's record on appeal, I was inspired to compile data from 2022 and 2023 on the disposition of appeals to the High Court.
Based on a quick survey of Austlii, leaving aside appeals from the Family Court and Circus Court, constitutional questions and similar pointless minutiae, there were 43 appeals from state and federal courts of record. Of those, 30 appeals were upheld and 13 dismissed.
It's unsurprising that there's a bit of bias in the sample which skews towards successful appeals, since a lot of the bad appeals would get filtered out at the application for special leave.
The results by jurisdiction, while not a total vindication, suggest that pretty much all intermediate appellate Courts are equally shit when evaluated by their overturn rate. The clear exception is the Supreme Court of Western Australia, the only jurisdiction with a winning record, and there's another possible exception in the Federal Court (who get overturned a lot, but whose success rate is relatively good for such frequent players). Bob French would no doubt be proud on both counts.
In absolute numbers, New South Wales was overturned more than any other state (double Victoria, the next highest), but it also played a lot more. So although it's in last place by net outcomes (downed 8 times, upheld twice) at 20% its success rate still has it in third place behind the WASC and the FCA.
By jurisdiction, here are the numbers:
Court | Allowed | Dismissed | Success % | Net result |
WASC | 1 | 3 | 75% | +2 |
QSC | 1 | 0 | 0% | -1 |
TASSC | 1 | 0 | 0% | -1 |
FCA | 12 | 8 | 40% | -4 |
VSC | 4 | 0 | 0% | -4 |
NSWSC | 8 | 2 | 20% | -6 |
I for one welcome our new legal overlords of the West.

2023.06.03 06:43 A_gritzman My stepdad is at rest..
My stepdad (46M) passed away peacefully this past Sunday morning after a 4 month battle with this terrible disease. I miss him terribly, but I am more so relieved that he is no longer suffering.
He was diagnosed in late January with two inoperable connected grape sized tumors on each side of his brain. The original symptom was that he had a seizure just as he pulled into his parking lot at work. Looking back, he had randomly developed symptoms of anxiety and paranoia a few weeks prior to the seizure. I find myself wondering how long ago the disease really started taking shape.
He was in hospital rehab for about a month before coming home and he had strengthened himself to the point where he could even walk again! He was discharged in late February and came home awaiting treatment which started a few weeks later. For a time it was almost normal. We made sure he laughed a lot.
He was uninsured, and the hospital social workers botched the Medicare application, but somehow we still managed to get care for him. After his first radiation treatment, within hours of it, he lost use of his legs. No strength to move or stand. This was our first sign that things were about to get bad.
On top of the obvious struggles with the disease, the things that came along with it were sometimes harder to watch. He was a victim of the Florida opioid epidemic. He was so proud of getting clean in 2011. He had quit smoking 6 months before getting diagnosed. The doctors did what they do and got him on pain killers. I understand why they prescribed them, it was just so hard to know that he relapsed for reasons beyond his control. I guess I’m glad he went out feeling as high as he wanted to be.
By mid March, his personality had completely changed. He was borderline catatonic, only asking for Wellington rolls (pain killers) or to start the car (a cigarette). Who were we to deny him of these things? It was the only way he could cope. His short term memory loss and aphasia were brutal.
My grandma had GBM. We thought we knew what were in for but this was so much worse. By April he had lost full arm strength. He was incontinent. He started declining treatment. I almost wish he had gone for palliative care right away instead, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to argue against his will to fight even if we knew it was a losing battle. If I could go back, I would have pleaded with him to pick quality of life over quantity.
Early May, we could tell it was getting close. He stopped eating for a time and eventually tried to get my mom to stop cleaning and changing him. We sent him to the hospital, they pumped him full of fluids and his personality returned! He was himself for Mother’s Day after his discharge but rapidly slipped again.
He developed a cold that put him back in the hospital. Somehow, after being pumped with fluids, he talked his way into full time hospice care at home. By the time he got home, he was in such a fog that he accused my brother of sending him home against will.
Last Monday, I went by his house. The family he truly loved was there and he actually popped in to say hello. We laughed with him and told him we loved him. He told us he was hungry and when we told him he had to have pudding or soft food because he couldn’t swallow, he called our bluff and slammed down a Burger King cheeseburger. He loved Burger King. I’m so glad he made one more appearance.
By Wednesday, he was unresponsive. I think he could still hear us though. On Saturday, I stopped by and held his hand and told him how lucky I was to have known him and how much of an impact he made on me. His eyes were fluttering and his mouth was somewhat moving. I told him I loved him and said it was okay.
I’m still struggling with how quickly and severely he deteriorated, but I am so glad he is at peace now. I don’t know what else to say. Thank you for being a safe space.

2023.06.03 06:25 Immediate_Theory9807 Maintaining Owner Confidence
I have a 14 month old Belgian Tervuren. I understand the hardships that come with this breed at this age. It isn't that. It's me.
We've worked super hard to get to where we are now. He's absolutely amazing, everything I could ever want. For our situation, I'm seriously so proud of him. He's confident and stable, besides usual teenagerness and the occasional weird feelings about things.
We tried out rally for the first time this spring, after months of training. I knew being in a new environment with novel smells would be harder for him, so we play drilled everything. At home, he could do a full rally course while ignoring treats being dropped directly in front of his nose. We'd do a crazy tug session, I'd leave the toy right outside our ring and we'd do a full course with his complete attention. Chickens, cats, other dogs around us and he was fine.
But at our first trial, he was a mess. It was small, maybe 30 people max. I thought he'd do at least decent. We got an NQ, judge wouldn't even tell us our score. He had no focus at all.
We tried it again at our BREED NATIONAL, so when we got excused from the ring, I was extremely embarrassed. The day before and 4 days after that, in the same exact environment, same exact room, SAME EXACT RING, he acted 110% fine in conformation. But he flipped his switch when it was time to do rally. Sniffing the entire time, I couldn't get his nose off the ground for nothing.
For some background, we live on a ranch. The nearest town is 25 minutes away, no dog friendly stores, everything is super boring there and nothing is interesting to him. The nearest town we could truly train in is almost an hour away. If I wanted to do actual rally training, we'd have to travel 1.5 hours and it doesn't fit into my schedule. Nobody in the hour radius of here does any sort of dog training or sports. So I have nobody. Nothing. I'm a highschooler by myself figuring this all out.
The few times I was able to make it to a rally practice 1.5 hours away, he did fine. We did a mock trial, so very similar environment. Dogs, people, smells. We got a handful of points for tight leash but otherwise passed.
I love every minute of it, but the mental game is where it gets hard. I have support from my breeders, but they're both extremely busy right now. My family supports me, but doesn't understand any of it. I have no friends within the sport. Nobody to train with. Nobody to truly encourage me.
I was so excited to do rally, but now I feel like throwing up when I think about it. This definitely doesn't help him. I want to keep doing rally but I don't see a point unless we can at least get through without being excused.
I know he is able to do well in the conformation ring so I have little to no anxiety about that. But now I can feel the anxiety seeping into future competitions of dock diving, agility, scentwork, whenever we get around to those.
(Pic of him rocking it in the show ring for tax)

2023.06.03 06:20 Impossible-Ask4646 Wife is having extreme ups and downs - what do I do?
I (from Belgium, 29) and my wife (from Thailand, 30) have been married for close to 6 years. We have 3 children (1, 3 and 5 yrs) and live in Colorado. We don't have any family near us. She stayed home with the kids and I was managing a dairy farm until I quit 3.5 months ago. It was crazy hours and I barely spent any time with her and the kids, there were a lot of days I didn't get to see them at all. It was horrible. I didn't like the job (I don't like managing people). I missed my wife and kids all the time, but the worst was knowing that she was struggling with the kids and getting screamed at every day for being home late. We didn't want to leave the US and I was locked in under a workcontract with my company so we decided to hold on and quit soon after we'd gain permanent residency which we did in February.
I'm extremely good in math and am planning to become a quantitative trader. It's an extremely competitive industry, but it fits me 100% and my wife supported it and gave me hope. Financially we have savings for a year of expenses, but it does stress me out. Since I quit my job I've been studying hard and helping more at home. I stay with the baby in the morning when she drops the oldest 2 off at preschool (5 half days a week - ongoing through the summer) and then start studying. Sometimes take a walk/bike ride with my wife/the kids during the day. Usually I'm down playing with the kids around 4:00-4:30pm while my wife cooks/cleans up... In the evening I give the kids a bath and put them to bed until 8:30-9:00pm after which I go back to studying till 1-1:30am. In the weekend I just study in the evenings. I've been spending a lot more time with the kids and feel the kids being so much closer to me than ever before. It makes me feel good.
She has been struggling a lot over the past years with the kids without getting much help, but I think things have improved a bit for her. She takes a walk every day, does yoga in the morning, watches a movie once in a while or spend some time on the phone. She is not having an easy slow life but I'm glad to see she is having some more time to herself. Being a mom is never going to be easy, but she has been having a lot of up and downs lately. When she's on her period she gets mad about everything. When the kids don't listen she gets irritated and redirects her frustration onto me or like today when she was outside with the kids and I thought everything was calm, I cleaned up something in the house and then took a book to the study for 5 minutes. One of our kids fell with the bike and she came in screaming and extremely angry. It wasn't my study time, I should have been with them. She started to completely ignore me, not wanting to talk to me. Later saying things like "Go away", "I don't love you", "We should get a divorce", "This is never going to work out, you'll never be able to deal with me"... She can get extremely mad about small things (like not putting things back in place or forgetting to put the kids clothes in the washer). I understand she can sometimes be emotional, but it's tough for me too to get screamed at every couple days while I'm really trying all I can do to both spend time with them and get a good job to provide for us before we go bankrupt. I focus 100% on what's best for us. (my weekdays are roughly 6-7hr family, 11-12hr study, 6hr sleep)
These ups and downs keep repeating itself and I know in a couple of days things will be back to good. I'll be the best husband and best dad she could ever wish for. She'll be so proud and happy with me. When if I bring it up she'll be saying that she didn't mean the things she said, that she's sorry and that she's a woman and that it's just her emotions. But I don't feel good about things like "I don't love you", "We should get a divorce". It's going too far for me, especially knowing that soon these moments will happen again, over and over.
What advice do you have for me, what should I do/say? I want to do all I can to fix this. I have mentioned counseling a couple of times, but she never seems too enthousiastic about it.
---
**TL;DR;** : My wife has been having extreme ups and downs. 1 day I'm the best husband ever, the next day she wants a divorce. What do I do?

2023.06.03 06:06 Even_Surprise9850 Am I (25F) wrong for being upset with my boyfriend (30M)..?¬
Created this alt account just to post this.. It's gonna be very long and with many grammar mistakes.. I have been in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend for more than 2 years now. It's been hard but we usually make it work and would spend a lot of time almost every evening playing video games and watching shows. I have always felt a bit more needy in the relationship.. Like I will miss him more, will be the one initiating calls more, text first most often, be the one pushing for the next meeting. Usually we meet every 2-3 months for a week, sometimes just for a weekend, usually in my country, because his family is here and I have my own flat. Meanwhile the whole relationship he was renting a room from his friends and was very against us meeting there, which was always upsetting for me because that meant that we could meet a lot less often. He has a lot of money and could have easily afforded to move out sooner, but honestly.. he was just lazy and didn't want to and would spend most of his free time playing video games.. he would talk how hard finding a place is and how hard it is to move all your things.. he would complain all the time how he didn't like living at that place, but wouldn't do anything about it.. at one point we almost broke up because I told him that I can't handle him living there and barely seeing him anymore, I told him I don't even think he will ever move out at this point..
But now he has finally moved to his new place and has been moving his stuff, unpacking, etc. for the last few weeks and finally finished everything today (friday).. Obviously this whole time he was quite busy with his job and moving so we weren't spending any time in the evenings, maybe at most watch one episode of some show together and go to sleep immediately after. He wasn't really texting first or calling these weeks too and I was understanding of course that he was busy and tried to not bother him too much, but I really missed him these past couple of weeks, but can't say I felt the same from him.. He did actually have a lot of free time, but besides the whole moving in, he started working out a loooot every day and also just going out in the city, going on walks, runs etc. I was actually happy and proud that he was being active, going outside and not just playing video games all day (he is actually addicted to it and that's a whole other story..), but still feeling quite lonely and hoping he will have some time to spend with me once he's finished moving in.
And I'm about to graduate university and have been quite busy myself these past months and actually finished my thesis recently and absolutely nailed my thesis defense (is that what's it's called in english?) this friday! Which I consider quite a big milestone for me because these past 6 years in medical school were really challening... And I was really hoping to spend some time today with my boyfriend, celebrate a bit, you know? But honestly I have been feeling like he's not even that interested in my life, like he barely asks any questions about what's going on in my life.. He was actually the only close person of mine that didn't know about this whole thesis defense.. I would mention I have a big thing coming up this friday and he wouldn't ask anything about it, didn't wish me luck, didn't ask me how it went last night, etc.. Anyway, I called him during the day on friday, asked about his plans for the day, he told me he's actually about to finish moving in and talked about some exciting new show he wants to watch with me and got me all hyped up like we are going to watch it today.. I told him I'm gonna be free today and just be resting after my thesis defense and once he's free and want to do something together to let me know..
Well I haven't heard from him the rest of the day and at about 11 in the evening I got a text from him that an aquantaince is coming over and they are going to go to the city, which is really unusual for him.. I call and ask him what's going on. He told me he's been texting with this aquantaince all day and he (the friend) just got back from a fishing trip and is very tired, but is still coming over?? I asked if they're going to go to a bar or club and he said something about not being in a party mood and they are probably going to just walk/sit in some park/forest.. at 11 in the evening? I actually got a bit upset and cried.. I told him how he didn't find any time for me these past couple weeks and didn't even text or call me, but found time to do this and text his friend all day and I said I was waiting for him to watch that show and I missed him so much.. but we quickly talked it out and I wished him a fun time. At first I didn't question this whole thing, but then I started thinking this whole meeting with the friend in the middle of the night didn't make any sense.. and frankly can't imagine him just meeting a friend for a stroll in a park.. I didn't even sleep today because I felt like he was lying to me.. My gut was screaming that he's probably just going to a club and going to be doing drugs and drinking alcohol till the morning... but he actually didn't seem active on any social media during the whole night so I started thinking maybe he actually just met his friend briefly and went to sleep, but then he reacted to some meems I sent earlier at like 5 in the morning.. and that meant he was out this whole time.. I immediately asked what's he up to, but he just left me on read.. which happens often when he's really drunk..
I'm just feeling sick.. He actually (in my opinion) has a big drinking problem.. not that he drinks every day, but that once he starts drinking he can't stop.. and he becomes a very mean selfish asshole when he's drunk and just completely can't control his behavior or the things he says.. and he usually doesn't even remember the awful things he says and does to me when he gets like that.. He hurt me a looooot about half a year ago when he was high and drunk and we almost broke up then, at first I forgave him but after some months I realised that I couldn't be with a 30 yo man that can't control his drinking and I don't want to see him do drugs or drink in front of me ever again.. I was actually preparing myself to break up with him till he completely out of nowhere told me that he realised that nothing good comes out of drinking and he wants to at the very least to completely stop drinking beer.. And I gave him a chance and looked at it almost like a new beggining.. And he did really good for like half a year and our relationship got a lot better and healthier, but a few months ago someone got him some beer for his birthday and he kind of started slowly drinking again - occasionally going to bars..
And I'm just over it.. I don't want him to start doing drugs and drinking again.. I'm terrified of him when he's drunk (not physically, but emotionally..) and maybe that's just me, but it's a huge turn of that a man in his 30s is still spending all night in some club together with his buddy.. and a lot of his buddies are quite scummy people that cheat on their girlfriends.. and while I completely trust him sober, I don't trust him to control himself from doing something while he's super drunk.. Honestly all my family and my friends that have met him and seen how he acts while drunk hate him and want me to break up with him and I was really hyping up the fact that he stopped drinking and hoping to repair his reputation with them.. And I really love him, as stupid as that sounds, and was really hoping he could change and stop drinking.. when he's sober and we spend time together it's so so good.. I know I wrote a lot of negative things but there are lots of very good things too, but it would be too long to write everything.. I was supposed to move to him this summer after graduating and now I'm just so scared and nervous about that and don't know if I should.. I know I have to ask what happened last night, but it will end up with him being upset and angry and starting a fight and gaslighting me.. I have my final exam next week and hate that it all happened now when I really need to focus on studying.. What do I even do in this situation?

2023.06.03 06:05 Unlikely-Struggle-56 I HOPE THIS DOESNT "BREAK THE INTERNET" -WILDMAN-SAINT&SINNER PROMPT
WILD MAN: Saint or Sinner Posted on May 2, 2021by Dana Rehn The Representation of Wild Folk During the German Renaissance The wild man was inspired in part by pagan hybrid woodland creatures like the satyr, however, much of the mythology of the wild man stems from barbarians of Europe.[i] For much of the Middle Ages, they were considered the antithesis of the civilised Christian society. They were cannibalistic, sexually deviant predators whose many characteristics were related to monstrous races as well as the insane. Despite the wild folk’s outsider status and the antithesis of Christian morality, the wild man and woman nevertheless became an icon of German nationalism. The image of the wild man and woman became a pervasive figure throughout the German Renaissance, depicted on a vast range of media from stained glass, woolen tapestry, playing cards (fig. 3), and ordinary household objects. The wild man and woman transitioned from a demonic brute beast to a romanticised image of the noble savage. They recall a simpler time in German history and became a part of the image of a united and strong German people. They also posed as an affront to the court culture of Rome and became associated with the virtues of the natural wilderness. Cleric, Johann Geiler von Kaysersberg, associated them with the image of the hairy saints who found redemption in the wilderness by categorising them as a type of wild man in Die Emeis.[ii] The German forests that the Wild Man was thought to reside were starting to be romanticised. Geographer, Johannes Rauw, praised the ancient forests that had long been demonised by Italians as a place of barbarians.[iii] From rapists of damsels, wild men were depicted with the virtues of the nuclear family in the Garden of Eden before ‘The Fall’ (Genesis 3). In this way, the wild man and woman became increasingly mythologised, merged with ancient Germans, ascetic saints as well as Adam and Eve. Although there were a growing number of romanticised images of the wild man and woman during the sixteenth century, negative representations persisted. Their depiction was not a simple shift from demonic woodland creature to the image of holy saints; many possessed both contradictory notions of sinner and sainthood. The multifaceted representation of wild folk reflected many of the contradictions of German Renaissance society. Man or Animal The reputation of the wild man stems from antiquity. Aristotle believed that people who lived outside the civilising influence of the urban city lacked the ability to reason.[iv] In this way, they were considered closer to animal than man, subjected to their impulses.[v] The wild man and woman were also believed to lack speech, used primitive tools such as the club, and lived away from civilisation.[vi] Even the food that the wild folk would eat – berries and uncooked food – was a mark of uncivilisation and thus associated them more with animals than man.[vii] Many were also thought to crawl on all fours, which is illustrated by the often bare knees of wild men and women.[viii] The wild man as well as the woman were characterised for their violence and unhinged rage. They both shared a love of combat and have even been depicted jousting against one another.[ix] It is not just appearance, but also behaviour that made someone bestial like peasants who were described with animal qualities. The wild man has also been associated with bears and mythology exists with bears who were able to transform into wild men.[x] Their unbridled sexuality was also more associated with animals. Wild men were thought to abduct pretty maidens, while the wild woman would transform herself into a beautiful woman and attempt to seduce men with her true ugliness only to be revealed during intercourse.[xi] In this way, they were also associated with other pagan and hairy woodland hybrid creatures from antiquity including satyrs and centaurs, who were also known for their immoral behaviour and insatiable sexual appetite.[xii] Albrecht Dürer combined classical mythology with German folklore in the engraving of the Abduction of Proserpine on a Unicorn (1516) (Fig. 1). The print recounts the mythology of the abduction of the goddess of fertility by Pluto (Hades), God of the underworld – the pagan equivalent to the Devil.[xiii] In place of the classical god is a wild man on the back of a unicorn. Although this wild man is not covered in think body hair, he has wild hair on top of his head and a large bushy beard. He is identified as a wild man by his riding of a unicorn where the wild man was believed to be the only creature strong enough to overpower it by force.[xiv] Unicorns were originally regarded as ferocious beasts who used their horn as a weapon.[xv] Tales and visual art from the fourteenth century tell of wild men who become tamed by love after abducting a woman.[xvi] Yet this print illustrates man’s sexuality was thought to reduce them to a brute beast. Fig 1. Albrecht Dürer, Abduction of Proserpine on a Unicorn, 1516, Etching, 30.8 x 21.3cm, The Institute, Chicago. During the Middle Ages, many people concluded that wild man and woman were degenerative humans. They became an irrational beast in the same way that the insane were believed to be a form of wild people. Medieval romances frequently described people who suffered a crisis and lost their mind and ran into the forest living as semi-human wild people.[xvii] In Hartmann von Aue’s (c. 1160/70- c. 1210/20) Iwein, the protagonist who has broken a promise to his wife and is rejected, roams around in the forest until he is discovered by a lady who saves him from his insanity.[xviii] The wilderness in part created the state for wildness as it was away from civilisation and rationality.[xix] Like many monsters during the period, the wild man and woman were defined by their nudity. In this way, they were symbolically outside civilisation – both physically and behaviourally.[xx] Even those who have become temporary wild men through madness and fled into the forest shed their clothes and only returned to civilisation by again putting their garments back on. While in the forest they begin to grow hair all over their body to signify their move away from the human realm and into the animal one.[xxi] The wild man and woman encapsulated the fears of Europeans and what happens to one if they abandon civilisation.[xxii] The theme of civilising the wild man was popular during the Middle Ages. It was knowledge and acceptance of the one true faith that inevitably brought the wild man back to civilisation.[xxiii] In a thirteenth-century Bavarian epic poem, republished in the sixteenth-century German collection of stories, Das Heldenbuch mit synen figuren (‘The Book of Heroes’), recounts a wild woman called Raue Else (‘Rough Else’). The woman who was hairy all over and walked on all fours approached the knight, Wolfdietrich, who questioned if she was an animal. [xxiv] The wild woman demanded the love of the knight and upon his refusal turned him into a crazed wild man who crawled on all fours for half a year until God commanded her to disenchant him. In return, Wolfdietrich offered to marry the wild woman so long as she was baptised. She took him back to her kingdom at Troy and after bathing in the fountain of youth she was transformed into her former self, the beautiful princess, Sigeminne (‘Love’s victory’).[xxv] Wild Man as Noble Savage Although the wild man and woman were frequently represented in literature during the Middle Ages, they were rarely depicted in visual art until the fifteenth century.[xxvi] Therefore, their most ferocious reputation left little mark in visual culture. Instead, the wild man and woman were frequently represented in Renaissance art as the image of purity, with their family representing the virtues of parenthood and a companion or as a saint. Lynn Frier Kaufmann argues that the idea of chivalry and courtly love during the Middle Ages influenced the way wild men and women were depicted during the Renaissance.[xxvii] Larry Silver on the other hand interpreted their new role as cultural emblems brought by the rise in Germanic nationalism, which inspired the new translation of Tacitus’s Germania, describing wild people who only wore a cape of animal’s hide, as the first proud inhabitants of the Germanic lands (for example, fig. 2) .[xxviii] In this way, Tacitus’s Germania transformed the wild man into the romanticised version of the noble savage during the German Renaissance.[xxix] They lived a simple and virtuous life. They needed no written laws because they had good morals and rejected the habits of outsiders.[xxx] The nobility and urban elite began to romanticise the wild man for their strength and freedom from the rules of society.[xxxi] Conrad Celtis described a counterpart to early Germans in the Lapps. He described them as speechless but also that they had not been corrupted with luxury, fame, or wine. ‘Here no jurist twists the law, no doctor accumulates his blood money, and no tonsured man plagues the people’.[xxxii] Fig. 2. Nicolaes van Geelkerken after Clüver in Philipp Clüver, Germaniae antiquae libri tres, Leiden: Louis Elzevir, 1616, Engraving, London, The Wellcome Library. Source:
archive.org On a playing card by Master ES printed in c. 1461, a wild woman is depicted with a unicorn (fig. 3). While wild men overpower the unicorn with their bold ferocity, it was the wild woman’s sexual purity that allowed her to get close to the unicorn. A tale of the unicorn captured only by pure virgin maidens arose during the Middle Ages. This led to the unicorn being represented as a sign of purity and thus underscores the image of the wild woman as epitome of the noble savage.[xxxiii] A sense of innocence accompanies their ignorance of the civilized world. Playing cards usually consisted of four suits with illustrations of plants, animals, and heraldic symbols. The wild woman with the unicorn is one of four cards surviving in the animal suit by Master ES.[xxxiv] Richard Bernheimer suggests that the images on the cards represent a hierarchy.[xxxv] Therefore, it places the wild man and woman in the realm of animals.[xxxvi] This is plausible since this wild woman represents the Queen of the Animals. However, her clasping grip of the unicorn who is dwarfed by the wild woman shows her dominate position in nature. Fig. 3. Master ES, Wild Woman and Unicorn (Queen of Animals from the Small Playing) c. 1461, Engraving on Playing Card, 10.5 x 7.3cm (Sheet); 9.8 x
6.cm (Plate), New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art. The wild man also featured in more than 200 coat-of-arms across Europe, most of which were in German lands.[xxxvii] They were particularly popular during the second-half of the fifteenth century.[xxxviii] Interestingly, the wild man was illustrated beside coats-of-arms of popes and kings as their protector or guardian of the coat-of-arms despite the wild man’s history as a heretical being.[xxxix] Roundel prints of coat-of-arms were likely used as templates for goldsmiths or glassmakers who would fill in the family crest.[xl] It has also been suggested that these roundels were used by the middle class to emulate the coat-of-arms of the nobility. The templates were used as a substitute for commissioned coat-of-arms.[xli] In Wild Woman and Heraldic Shield, c. 1490 (fig. 4), a wild woman suckling her baby is reminiscent of the Madonna and child. This image reveals the redemption of women through childbirth for their responsibility for Original Sin (Genesis 3.16). She also serves as an emblem for fertility for the family whose shield she holds to ensure the family line. Fig. 4. Martin Schongauer, Wild Woman and Heraldic Shield, Colmar, c. 1490, Engraving, 7.7 diam. New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Return to the Garden of Eden The image of the noble savage in turn influenced the idyllic images of the wild family. Master bxg’s Wild Folk Family (c. 1475) parallel Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve who were portrayed in animal skins after ‘The Fall’ are akin to the hairiness of the wild family.[xlii] In Master bxg’s print stands the tree of knowledge, overlooked by an owl in the background, symbolising potential danger as owls served as a symbol for evil.[xliii] A rabbit bounds towards a forest in the top left. Rabbits were used as a symbol for fertility and has been depicted in images of Adam and Eve during ‘The Fall’ and thus can symbolise carnal knowledge. The wild woman’s long hair symbolises her fertility and thus her unbridled sexuality and parallels with the depiction of Eve in the Garden of Eden with long, loose flowing hair.[xliv] Although the representation of the wild family references Original Sin, they are still in a state of nature and innocence and their ignorance of God therefore cannot constitute sin.[xlv] However, it also provides a mirror of the tensions between good and evil within German Renaissance society – between temptation and godliness.[xlvi] The wild family not only recall Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, but also the image of the Holy Family who were often represented against the backdrop of the wilderness.[xlvii] In a comparative print in Hans Leonhart Schäufelein’s, Wild Man and Wild Woman originally printed in c.1520 (fig.5), the wild family are still hairy and naked, although they wear fig leaves to help preserve their modesty. The fig leaves allude to after ‘The Fall’ in the Garden of Eden once they have eaten from the tree of knowledge and realise their nakedness and feel shame. In this way, the sins of the past are not completely forgotten. However, the image lies in opposite to the unbridled sexuality of the earlier idea of the wild man and woman. One son attempts to place a leash around a domesticated dog, which further symbolises a new domesticity to the wild family.[xlviii] Despite its clear reference to Original Sin, it illustrates an idyllic family scene, away from the corrupting influences of ‘civilised life’.[xlix] Fig. 5. After Hans Schäufelein, Klag der wilden Holtzleüt, uber die ugetrewen Welt, verse by Hans Sachs, printed by Hans Guldenmundt, Augsburg, 1560 Coloured woodcut, 20.2 x 24.2cm (sheet), 20.2 x 15.2 cm (borderline) The British Museum, London. This image was later copied with an addition of a poem written by Hans Sachs in 1530. In the poem the wild folk lament against the corruption and evils of society such as the lust for wealth, flesh, and violence. The wild folk in Sachs’ verse have chosen to discard worldly pleasures to live the simple and pure life in nature. The verse ends with the wild folk declaring that they will be happy to return to civilisation once the world ‘see the light’.[l] This verse parallels the wild man with ascetic monks whose wildness is a temporary state and who seek redemption away from civilisation. Wild Man as Saints The tales of saints who found redemption in the wilderness by discarding worldly pleasures, growing hair on their body and then returning to civilization and shedding their hair once more became co-opted with the image of wild men and women during the Renaissance. Many stories of anchorites parallel with others, to the point that they can become indistinguishable.[li] Onuphrius is one of the better-known ascetic saints who lived during the fourth century. Paying penance, he lived in a cave for sixty years, as wild men and women were thought to do. His clothes wore away and he grew a thick coat of hair to protect his body against the elements (fig. 6).[lii] Saint John Chrysostom similarly went into the wilderness to pay penance and vowed to crawl on all fours until he found favour with God.[liii] Ascetic saints were similarly depicted with bare knees as wild men and women were also believed to crawl on all fours like an animal, wearing away the hair. In Leben der Heiligen (1499), where Saint John Chrysostom is depicted as covered in thick hair and crawling on all fours in the forest is described as an ‘abominable animal,’ despite being depicted with a halo around his head.[liv] Ascetic saints were therefore reduced to a beast just as the wild men and women had traditionally been as they are seen as degenerating into an animal who grow hair on their body and ate raw food.[lv] In this way, the figure of the hairy monstrosity was able to find redemption, at least in part, cast as the model of repentance. Fig. 6. Anonymous, Saint Onuphrius, c. 1480-1500, woodcut, 14.6 x 11.4cm, New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. During the German Renaissance, Saint Mary Magdalene, who was regarded for her beauty,[lvi] was frequently represented covered in hair like a wild woman. Her hairy image found wide devotion through the southern Germanic region.[lvii] In a tale originating in the tenth century, Mary was set adrift by non-believers and by divine guidance found her way to the south of France where she preached and converted the locals. She lived in a cave in Saint-Baume, Provence, paying penance for her former sinful life.[lviii] The name Magdalene means manens rea or ‘remaining in guilt’.[lix] She grew hair all over her body in the same way as a wild woman. In her cave she remained silent and when a hermit approached her, she had trouble speaking after being secluded for so long, not unlike the wild man and woman.[lx] Every hour, angels would ascent her to the heavens where she would gain nourishment as she was so remote that there was no food or water.[lxi] Mary’s ascension into the heavens as a hairy wild woman was a theme in German Renaissance prints and is illustrated in a print by Hans Baldung Grien (c.1484-1545) in c.1512 (fig. 7 ).[lxii] Her ascent represents her body’s transcendence from both worldly pleasures and the wilderness. Fig. 7. Hans Baldung Grien, St Mary Magdalen, c.1512, Woodcut, Sheet: 13 × 8.7 cm Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The image and identity of Mary Magdalene during the Renaissance is believed to be conflated with the story of Saint Mary of Egypt who lived in the fifth century. Mary has long been thought to be a prostitute. She travelled to Jerusalem where she became aware of her sins when she could not enter a Church as she was held back by a spiritual ‘force’. She saw the image of the Virgin Mary staring back at her and realised why she could not enter. Mary of Egypt, the antithesis to the Virgin prayed to her for forgiveness and renounced her life of sin.[lxiii] Mary went to live alone in the desert to repent for forty-seven years.[lxiv] The desert was a place to be tested against sins, for punishment, but also for contemplation and redemption.[lxv] Both Mary of Egypt and Mary Magdalene have both similarly been depicted covered by hair that represents their place outside of civilization and discarding worldly possessions. It was also used to provide modesty to discern from their previous occupation of the flesh.[lxvi] As seen in the print by Lucas Cranach the Elder, The Ecstasy of St. Mary of Egypt (1506) (fig. 8) who was thought to levitate in prayer,[lxvii] is similar to the composition of prints of Mary Magdalene being accented by angels. The naked saints signified the return to nature before ‘The Fall’ in the Garden of Eden.[lxviii] Despite this earlier legend, Mary Magdalene was not depicted in art as covered in hair until the mid-fifteenth century but was rather naked with her long hair covering her modesty. The image of the hairy Mary Magdalene was therefore believed to originate in fifteenth-century Germany.[lxix] The detail of the hairy Mary Magdalene was also not included in the popular thirteenth century The Golden Legend by Jacobus de Voragine (c.1230-1298) that combined the tales of Magdalene. Her nudity was implied as the hermit who visited her passed her a garment to wear.[lxx] The hair covering Mary of Egypt was also a later addition to the story and also does not appear in The Golden Legend.[lxxi] She similarly does not seem to appear in art until the fifteenth-sixteenth centuries.[lxxii] The same can be said of other saints who turn into a wild man, at least temporarily such as Saint John Chrysostom.[lxxiii] This suggests ascetic saints who grew hair over their body was a contemporary idea that arose at the same time that the wild man and woman were popular in Renaissance prints. However, as Bartra notes, the idea of the hairy ascetic saint derived from Ancient Egypt when long haired hermits sought solitude in the desert.[lxxiv] Fig. 8. Lucas Cranach the Elder, The Ecstasy of St. Mary of Egypt, 1506 Woodcut, 24.4 × 14.2 cm, The Met, New York, Wild Man in Reformation Propaganda The image of the wild man was also co-opted into the Protestant Reformation in Germany and has been used by both Protestants and Catholics in contradictory ways. The engraving of The Pope as a Wild Man was created by Melchior Lorck (c.1526/7-1583) in 1545. This wild man with characteristic thick body hair with bare knees is a hybrid with long rat-like tail. Perched on top of his head is the three-tiered crown of the pope, but the last tier is a tower of excrement. Beneath his crown are ass ears, which represent folly and dishonesty. The ass’s ears allude to the myth of Apollo who made Midas grow the ears of a donkey to tag him for his dishonesty.[lxxv] On his back appears to be a bat with stretched out wings, which is a symbol for the Devil.[lxxvi] The wild man carries his characteristic wooden club, but this one has three cross branches at the end to represent the papal cross. He holds onto the papal key that is shattered at the end, which is a sign that the temporal powers of the papacy have been broken.[lxxvii] From his mouth pours a stream of toads and reptiles. This appears to reference the beast, the dragon, and the false prophet who release four foul spirits. A version of this image was discovered cast on a canon of Protestant troops captured during the Schmalkaldic War.[lxxviii] Melchior Lorck, The Pope as Wild Man, c. 1545, Etching, 22.9 × 19.4 cm, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Kupferstichkabinett Conclusion In Renaissance Germany, complexity existed in people’s relationship with the wilderness. It both conjured up images of the Garden of Eden before ‘The Fall’ as well as the dangers that may lurk beyond. The wild man and woman were just as complex and represented sinfulness, but also redemption and innocence. As Merry Wiesner-Hanks concludes ‘beast, saint, or hero? the wild man was all three’.[lxxix] A closer look at images of the wild man reveals their complexity. There was not a simple evolution between a demonised creature associated with cannibalism and rape to the holy saint. In the age of the apocalypse, the wild man and woman provide a reminder of Original Sin and the need for repentance at a time of social reform. In this way, the hairy woodland creature is not entirely absolved. 2023.06.03 05:59 Corn__bean DAE feel shocked when people complain about vet bills/ wait times?
I am the proud owner of an especially fragile yorkie with an autoimmune disorder. We’re at the vet at least once a month for his monthly med injections, though usually more on an emergency basis. Long story short, we keep the lights on at that clinic.
Because we’re at the vet so often I regularly hear people complain about the prices. Obviously I know a thing or two about heavy vet bills but then I find out they’re complaining about a 130$ charge for a sedated ear cleaning + meds…….shoot. I would LOVE to only pay 130$ for my dogs vet trip. I bet they’re only there once or twice a year. Sometimes I’ll have to haul him down to the emergency 24 hour clinic and I’ll hear people complain about having to wait 4 hours to see the ER doctor…….I’ve waited 9 hours with my dog at 4 in the morning…
I’m not someone who believes that pets should be cheap. I don’t think a lifetime commitment should be affordable. I would sincerely hate to find out what would happen if their dogs developed a chronic disease like my boy has. My lifetime commitment dog required me to make a lifestyle change to make him a part of my family. His medical financing is just as much of a priority to me as my rent, my bills, and my food. Time spent on his care is as important to me as time spent at work or sleeping
Anyone else who’s actually invested in their pets care feel like this too?

2023.06.03 05:53 Tasty-Organization52 When you leave a cult, some don’t know they left a cult. I left a cult.
It has been almost ten years since I have served a mission for the Mormon church. Many years now after an incredible experience on mushrooms and a healthy recent life with weed. The walls have crashed down. I have overcome my fears that I have left off of doubt and that I’m lost. I know that is my cult upbringing manipulating my own thoughts. I have left a cult. I have finally done it.
I’m proud that I finally did it. I managed to beat this unhealthy life depriving entity. This cult.
Recently a couple missionaries somehow found my home address. My fiancé invited them in. She’s never been affiliated with the church. After a brief visit by them. We treated them respectfully. And they were very kind to our boy. I told my fiancé I know it’s a cult. Because during their visit for a split second I was doubting my own assertion that they belong to a cult. All the dogma and indoctrination came flooding back. And I reasserted in my mind that I was right. This church destroys individuals and families.
Mormonism is a church of man. Another cult. For any Mormon reader reading this. If you are reading my post as if I’m blaspheming the church, or that I am in the devils grasp, and feel attacked by me. These are all clear signals in a sane world that you are immersed in a cult. They will make you doubt your doubts. They will tell you not to search the truth. To trust the leaders. They will tell you anyone who strays is unhappy and living lives in sin.
I’m the happiest I have ever been. My world full of love. This testimony stands as a direct contradiction to everything they say about leaving. Leave and live your life. If you must believe in a God. Then trust God alone. And love your neighbor.

2023.06.03 05:46 aster2560 What Jaunedice should’ve been
For this rewrite Jaune did actually know how to land properly during the initiation he just screwed up royally, he did know how to activate aura, and Cardin didn’t cartoonishly bully him prior to this arc
Jaune had just lost Cardin like he did in canon during Glynda’s speech about the Vytal festival the rest of JNPR noticed that Jaune made a ton of amateur mistakes during the match and if this was a real fight he could have been killed several times. They decide to look into his past by asking other students who went to the same combat school that Jaune said he went to and ask what he was like back then to see if he was always like this or was he just going through something. However when they asked the other students all of them replied with “You must be mistaken he never went there.” They decide to go look for Jaune and to ask him personally about this while looking for him Ruby says she saw him go to the rooftop alone. There they saw him train intensely alone and decided to confront him in the dorm room.
When Jaune came back to the room after training they asked him why he lied about the combat school he attended. Jaune started to sweat more than did while training and asked how they knew that. They explained how they asked the student that attended the same combat school and what their response was towards him attending the school. Pyrrha asked Jaune why he lied about this. Jaune took a deep breath and explained how he tried to fake his transcripts into Beacon however Ozpin saw through this and sent a huntsman to see if he had any noteworthy potential that could be awakened in Beacon. Jaune managed to meet whatever the expectations that the huntsman had for him so for a short amount of time Jaune was trained by the huntsman in the bare minimum he would need for Beacon. Jaune then explains the reason why he chose to hide this information is due to not wanting to shame his family name by getting help from other people. They reprimand for keeping this information from them, and Jaune responds to this by basically saying that none of them know what it’s like to have a family reputation to live up to and that he needs to work 10 times harder than they ever have in their entire lives in a really douchey manner. This earns him a glare from everybody else that is colder than any glare Ruby got from Weiss.
The aftermath of this argument was the rest of JNPR and RWBY avoid Jaune as much as they can to point where NPR rearranged their dorm room so Jaune’s bed is in the corner far away them from since they “didn’t want to ruin the prestigious reputation of a member of the Arc family with their presence”. Jaune decides to mope in the hallway during the middle of the night. Cardin sees Jaune being all woe is me when walking back towards his room after he took a leak. Cardin asks why he’s moping and Jaune explains his current situation with his friends. Cardin’s reaction to Jaune telling him he faked his transcripts is not surprising due to him figuring it out since the match between him and Jaune with the amount of times Cardin could’ve killed Jaune if it was a real fight. Jaune asks why they don’t trust him anymore and Cardin’s response to this was “It’s because you’ve lied about very important information that endangered not your life, but your teammates as well, and you degraded any effort that they put into becoming huntsmen”. He tells Jaune that he’s incredibly delusional to think that the amount of effort he’s put at Beacon is even a fraction of the effort that every other student including Ruby has put into becoming huntsmen. Cardin then tells him that if he wants their trust back he has to earn it, and both go back to their rooms.
During the next day each first year team has to complete an obstacle course filled with an assortment of Grimm. Both CRDL and RWBY manage to complete the course with flying colors. When it was JNPR’s turn Ren and Nora defer to Pyrrha for leadership and she forms a plan to complete the course while ignoring Jaune’s concerns. However the plan goes awry due Pyrrha overlooking something, but while they are forced to fall back Jaune manages to find a way to salvage her plan and begs them to trust him so they can complete the course. JNPR manages to complete the course with Jaune’s solution, but they come in dead last out of all them first year teams.
When JNPR goes back to the dorm room Jaune bows down to the rest of them asking if they can find it in their heart forgive him for being such an asshole or at the very least tolerate him for the rest of time they are Beacon. They forgive him and admit that if it weren't for him they wouldn’t have been able to complete the course. Jaune then goes onto explain his reason for entering Beacon which was more about trying to impress his father than live up to the family reputation since his father always favored his older half sister Alyssa Pendragon from his second marriage who is a huntress of both world renown and immense skill while Jaune is from the fourth marriage and he’s currently on his fifth, and thought that if he went to the same school that both his father and Alyssa he could get his father’s approval. However when Jaune gave his father the news instead of getting approval he was given Crocea Mors by his father who basically said that it should be suitable for Jaune’s time at Beacon because it hasn’t been used since the war, he thinks that Jaune will quit Beacon in the first since he quit his initial training on the first day, and he thought the only reason why Jaune was accepted into was due to the Arc family reputation. Jaune then explains that he thought his father wasn’t proud of him when he got the news due to bringing shame on the Arc family reputation, but when Jaune looked into his father’s time spent at Beacon he and his sister never once used the family name to try and move up in Beacon and instead they relied on not just hard effort but also the friends and teammates they had during their time at Beacon. Jaune then says he wants to become the best Jaune Arc that he possibly could become during his time he will spend at Beacon, and realized that he both can’t and doesn’t want to do it alone so he asks them if they are willing to help him.
One week later on the rooftop that Jaune was training alone on all of JNPR is on there training, discussing potential tactics to use during combat, developing workout routines to do during the morning, finding out ways to cover for each other's weaknesses and ways to boost each other’s strengths.

2023.06.03 05:26 AyakaTwT Bell's Secret
Bell was a special girl. She had a secret that no one else knew: she was an SCP. She had an anomalous ability that allowed her to manipulate sound waves. She could create, amplify, or cancel any sound she wanted. She could also use sound as a weapon or a shield.
Bell loved her ability, but it also made her life dangerous. She often felt hunted by the SCP Foundation, a secret organization that contained and studied anomalous entities like her. She had to hide her ability from everyone, because she was afraid of being captured or experimented on.
Bell's parents, Lena and Mark, were the only ones who knew about her ability and protected her from the Foundation. They were former Foundation researchers who had defected after discovering Bell's existence. They had adopted Bell as their daughter and raised her with love and care. They had also taught her how to control and use her ability safely and discreetly. They had also provided her with a fake identity and background to avoid detection.
One day, Bell's parents decided to take her to a concert for her birthday. They thought it would be a fun way to celebrate and have some family time. Bell was excited, but also nervous. She had never been to a concert before, and she wondered how she would cope with all the noise and music.
When they arrived at the concert hall, Bell put on her earplugs and sunglasses to block out some of the stimuli. She held on to her parents' hands as they walked through the crowd and found their seats. She tried to relax and enjoy the show.
She liked some of the songs, especially the ones with catchy melodies and lyrics. She also liked watching the performers and the audience interact. She felt the energy and excitement in the air.
However, she also felt some danger and fear in the air. She sensed some people watching her or following her. She saw some people wearing suits or uniforms that looked familiar. She recognized them as Foundation agents or operatives.
She tried to ignore them, but they still bothered her. She knew they were looking for her or trying to expose her. She felt threatened and anxious.
She decided to tell her parents about them and ask them what to do.
She whispered in their ears and pointed at the suspicious people.
Her parents looked around and saw them too.
They nodded and told her to stay calm and follow them.
They got up from their seats and headed toward the exit.
They tried to act casual and blend in with the crowd.
They hoped they could escape without attracting attention.
But they were wrong.
As soon as they reached the exit, they heard a loud voice over the speakers.
"Attention, everyone! This is Agent Smith of the SCP Foundation. We have reason to believe that there is an SCP in this concert hall. We need everyone to remain calm and cooperate with us. Please do not panic or resist. We are here for your safety and security."
The voice was followed by a loud siren and flashing lights.
The crowd erupted into chaos and confusion.
People started screaming, running, or pushing each other.
Bell's parents grabbed her hand and ran toward the parking lot.
They hoped they could reach their car and drive away.
But they were wrong again.
As soon as they reached the parking lot, they saw more Foundation agents blocking their way.
They had guns, tasers, and handcuffs.
They pointed them at Bell's parents and ordered them to surrender.
They said they knew who they were and what they had done.
They said they wanted Bell and her ability.
Bell's parents refused to give up.
They told Bell to run and hide.
They said they loved her and would always protect her.
They said they would find her again soon.
They hugged her and kissed her goodbye.
Then they let go of her hand and faced the agents.
They used their own anomalous abilities to fight back.
Lena had the ability to manipulate electricity. She could create, amplify, or cancel any electric current she wanted. She could also use electricity as a weapon or a shield.
Mark had the ability to manipulate gravity. He could create, amplify, or cancel any gravitational force he wanted. He could also use gravity as a weapon or a shield.
They were both SCPs too.
They fought bravely and fiercely against the agents.
They hoped they could distract them long enough for Bell to escape.
But they knew they couldn't win.
They knew they would be captured or killed.
They knew they would never see Bell again.
But they didn't regret anything.
They loved Bell more than anything in the world.
They were proud of being her parents.

2023.06.03 04:57 nimmoisa000 Open world crime game idea Cartel: Palm City.
Developed by Hangar 13, DICE, Ripple Effect Studios, EA Gothenburg, and Criterion Games and published by EA.
Additionally former EA Black Box and Ghost Games employees who would help access game assets and code from previous NFS titles to streamline the development)
Cartel (or alternatively as “Cartel: Palm City” or "Cartel: Miami" ) would be an open world title based on the Mafia Games, the GTA games and the Saints Row games, with elements of Battlefield: Hardline thrown in with an array of weapons and vehicles based on their real life counterparts.
Gameplay wise the driving would be like Need for Speed titles, and on foot and shooting mechanics like BF: Hardline and Saints Row. Plus you can customize your cars and weapons to the same extent in BF: 2042 and some cars would allow for mounted weapons,on foot you can execute people with your equipped weapon like in The Godfather games. On foot would be an FPS view (you can change to a third person view as well) same with having an FPS view in your car.
There would an single player experience point system (like in BF Hardline single player) you gain XP from killing gangsters, and cops blowing up or capturing enemy vehicles and completing main missions, side missions and activities also there will be 15 levels to achieve with each level up unlocking new weapons, vehicles and customization for your weapons and vehicles. As well as a New Game Plus (NG+) where everything you unlocked is carried over and you can also play on the higher difficulties through NG+.
Also there would be five wanted levels for police and five vendetta levels for the gangs should you reach level five gang vendetta you start a Gang War there are three ways to stop a Gang War either bribe the feds, blow up a gang stronghold, or hide out in a safe house. Police wanted levels one and two local units would come after the player, at police wanted level two or three the state police would come after the player. At wanted level four and five the feds would come after the player. The military will only come after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard
The Storyline
In Cartel: Palm City; in a different universe and timeline where there's a total prohibition of all narcotics in the United States in 2010; tells the story of Jack Rourke (the player character) a hardworking rideshare driver at day and a street racer at night who's scraping by in Palm City circa 2019. One fateful night, Jack Rourke has an inadvertent brush with the Blackwell Syndicate (mainly Carl Stoddard and that showcases a life of reward too big to ignore. As he joins the Blackwell Syndicate who are fighting for control of Palm City against five other criminal groups and take the city for the Blackwell Syndicate including recovering evidence that could not only convict the Blackwell Syndicate, as well as a network of crime lords in many countries, (including the other gang’s backers) including the Blackwell Syndicate's backers the Mob and it would also directly implicate the CIA in Palm City’s drug trade with Jack Rourke earning the nickname “El Sicario” for his efforts in driving the other gangs out of Palm City. When he learns how much the drugs were hurting the people of Palm City and all over the country as well as learning that the Blackwell Syndicate had gotten into the drug trade themselves, he contacts FBI agent Chase Linh who relays the story to her and offers the evidence and his testimony in exchange for full immunity for him and his associates, and the evidence on the computer was enough to convict everyone form all the five gangs, but also their crime lord backers from at least half a dozen countries, as well implicating the CIA in this as well as lobbying efforts to keep all narcotics prohibited, leading to a new administration repealing the Narcotics Prohibition law and legalizing low level cannabis. However six months later after the repeal of the Narcotics Prohibition Jack Rourke would be gunned down by Russian Mafia hitmen, Dimitri "Dima '' Mayakovsky and Henry "Black" Blackburn.

- Moonlighting - Jack Rourke after knowing about the truth takes Tyson to rob the Palm CIty First National in order to retire from the sicario lifestyle and gets into a massive shootout with the PCPD Heat-style.
- The Death of Art - After the heist of Palm City First National Jack Rourke finds Tyson dead and meets Stoddard at the museum only to find out that Stoddard knew about the heist, and used his share of the drug money and clout at Prefered Outcomes to buy out The7 as his personal hit squad, however Jack Rourke manages to kill every member of The7 but spares Stoddard (the player can also kill him but canonically Jack Rourke spares him)
Epilogue (2022)
After the trial and the repeal of the Jack Rurke is placed in the Witness Protection Program in Lakeshore City but six months later after the repeal of the Narcotics Prohibition Jack Rourke would be gunned down by members of the West Side Club, Dimitri "Dima" Mayakovsky and Henry "Black" Blackburn.
The Gangs of Palm City
L.S 16 (Los Salmos 16) - Also known as The Salmos. Backed by the most powerful Mexican drug lords and the most powerful arms traffickers in the world, L.S 16 once ruled all of Palm City In fear until The House stepped in. They’re also the strongest gang in the game with access to military grade weapons and vehicles and each gang kill from them awards 500-1,500 XP depending on the enemy type. They are led by Neil Roark.
The House - The House is a gambling gang with strong ties and backed by the Sicilian Mafia; they run the street scene and the casinos in Palm City. They’re pretty strong but weaker than L.S 16, and they have access to military grade weapons and vehicles each gang kills from them awards 250-800 XP depending on the enemy type. Headed by Lina Navarro.
The Volk - The Volk is a Chinese-Russian gang led by Roman Barkov with Niko Barkov as their enforcer backed by the Triads (Chan Wu), the Russian Mob (Dimitri Glebov), and GMAC's crew (Gregory "GMAC" MacDonald, Rose Largo) for cars who control the weapon smuggling and arms dealing in Palm City. With this backing and access to military grade weapons. They are a mid tier gang and each gang kill from them awards 200-600 XP depending on the enemy type. They are also the ones who go after the Blackwell Syndicate the most.
Palm Kings - The Palm Kings (PKs) is a Black gang made up of Black nationalists who controls Palm Harbor’s rackets and extorts store owners. Led by Benny King, they’re equipped with police-grade weaponry and has strong ties with the PCPD despite this, they are the second weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 150-500 XP depending if it's a regular to elite
Dixie Paladins - The Dixie Paladins are a white supremacy gang and a militarized version of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who controls the Gold Coast Mountains in the mountainous regions of Palm City. they’re the weakest gang in the game and each gang kill from them awards 100-250 XP from regular to elite members. They are led by Tony Alpert
Blackwell Syndicate - The Blackwell Syndicate is a underground criminal organization based in Palm City and is led by Marcus Blackwell with Julian “Julius” Little as underboss, Hector Maio before "Code of Silence" and Zack Maio after "Code of Silence". Nick Mendoza. Khai Minh Dao and Carl Stoddard are caporegimes and Tyson Latchford, Tyler "Ty" Morgan, Sean "Mac" McAlister, Jessica "Jess" Miller as soldiers. Other members include Ravindra "Rav" Chaudhry as the gang's car expert Rachel Teller as the gang's customization expert, Marcus “Boomer” Boone as the gang's weapon experts. The Blackwell Syndicate would be the gang that the player would join. In Act 1, they're an outside and fast tracked to soldier, but in Act 2 the player would be a capo until the end of the game. They are secretly backed by both The Mob and the CIA through Agent Dawes. Jonathan Cross and Mia Townsend are also on the gang's payroll until "Bon Appetit" where Marcus Blackwell executes him with a 870P Magnum to the head. Also Mia would also go with Jack Rourke as well
The police/military force
PCPD - the police force of Palm City/Miami if the player does hostile acts (killing civilians, firing unsuppressed weapons in public, etc) will attract police attention and each kill from them awards 50 XP for regular members and 100 XP for armored members, However the player can bribe the PCPD to look the other way or will even help the player fight the other gangs but would be the target of higher level police forces. (Sort of like it was in The Godfather game) The player can also buy favors from them as well. Also they’ll deploy stronger units at higher heat level alongside the FBI. The cars PCPD drives are the Ford Crown Victoria, Dodge Challenger, Pontiac GTO, and the Chevy Grand Sport
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) - The state police force and Only appears in wanted levels 3 and above, Each kill from them awards 75 XP for regular state troopers and 150 XP for tactical state troopers. Regular state troopers drives Ford Mustang GTs tactical state troopers drives Nissan GT-R
FBI - Only appears in wanted level 5 the FBI will be called in if the player continues to retaliate against the PCPD. Each kill from them awards 125 XP for regular agents, 250 XP for FBI SWAT and 375 XP for FBI HRT, Like the PCPD the player can bribe the FBI to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, or the PCPD but at the second highest price. The FBI also has the second widest array of favors the player can buy. regular agents drives the Nissan 350Z or Porsche 911 GT3 RS, FBI SWAT drives the - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster or Ford F-150 SVT Raptor L.E. and FBI HRT drives the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X or Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR
Military - Only goes after the player if they trespass in Fort Rockport or the Palmount Naval Shipyard. Each kill from them awards 200 XP for regs, 400 XP for experienced troops and 600 XP for elite troops. Like the PCPD, State Police and the FBI, the player can bribe the military to look the other way, or even help the player fight gangs, the PCPD, State Police or even the FBI but at the highest price and The military also has the widest array of favors the player can buy in large part due to Agent Dawes’ connections in Washington.
Multiplayer portion of the game would take place during the five cartels war where the Blackwell Syndicate, The Volk, Palm Kings, Dixie Paldines, Los Salmos 16, and The House (basically where Jack Rourke glosses over saying "It was non-stop chaos for weeks")
Also there would be a free ride mode where the player can explore the city at their leisure or pick a fight with either other cartels or the cops.

2023.06.03 04:53 Edge-The-Fiend How I Would Book Survivor Series 2023
Asuka (c) vs. Bayley vs. Iyo Sky for the SmackDown Women's Championship
Asuka decides to go on a rampage against Damage CTRL, defending her belt against one member each PLE. In a SummerSlam dream match, she beats Iyo Sky to begin this challenge. At Extreme Rules, Asuka defeats Bayley to retain the championship. Now, she ould only have one more member to beat: Dakota Kai. Unfortunately, Dakota is seen to be out for the rest of 2023, so Asuka can't complete this challenge here. So, Asuka thinks of the next best possible option: beat both Bayley and Iyo Sky again! In a triple threat match, Asuka's looking to show her dominance once again, while Bayley and Iyo are not gonne let this moment slip from their hands again.
Surprisingly, Dakota Kai got a front row ticket in the crowd just to see this triple threat match. When Bayley and Iyo come out to their respective music, they both hug Dakota to show that their sisterhood wouldn't break for some singles gold. During the match, it basically looks like a handicap match, and nothing like the triple threat match at Survivor Series 2009. But no matter what move they hit, whether it be a Rose Plant or a Moonsault, Asuka always kicks out! The only target for the competing members of Damage CTRL is hurting Asuka to the point of not kicking out. There comes a point where Asuka is down on the announce table, and Iyo Sky is on the top turnbuckle, getting the crowd to stand up in anticipation! She flips off the turnbuckle, but Asuka moves out of the way at the last possible second! This makes Iyo crash right into that table! Bayley reaches out for a kneeling Asuka while in the ring, but Asuka spits out that fuckin' mist and locks in the Asuka Lock! Bayley taps out, although she's still thinking: "Dakota's watching! Don't tap!"! But she tapped because in WWE canon, there is nothing more excruciating (at least not involving weapons) than getting caught in the Asuka Lock while being blinded by the mist! Asuka laughs right in Dakota's face as Kai is worried for her sisters.
Winner and still SmackDown Women's Champion: Asuka
The Judgment Day (c) vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Latino World Order vs. Pretty Deadly for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship
At SummerSlam, Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio beat Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to win the Undisputed Tag Titles. As it was due to a rollup while grabbing the tights (guess which member of Judgment Day did that), KOZaynia got a rematch at Extreme Rules, but still lost due to interference by Finn Balor. Because of the continued interferences, KOZaynia get another shot at the titles, but there's a catch: There are two SmackDown Tag Teams that have been dominating the division for the past five months. Those teams are The Latino World Order and Pretty Deadly. Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde have proven that they are championship worthy, maintaining The LWO's legacy. Pretty Deadly have also proven to be fantastic, retaining their status in NXT as one of the best duos in this company today! Both have also earned a shot at the Undisputed Tag Team Titles.
At Survivor Series, the match is a flurry of strikes, high-flying moves, and double-team maneuvers. With Judgment Day's strength, KOZaynia's resilience, Legado's aerial prowess, and Pretty Deadly's Ultimate Opportunistic strategy, it very much looks like anyone can walk away with the four belts. Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley also try to make sure that Judgment Day walk away with the belts, using cheap shots whenever they can. Rhea even hits Joaquin Wilde with the Riptide! Eventually, Cruz Del Toro and Finn Balor are both pinning Elton Prince and Sami Zayn, respectively, and the ref counts to three! They both argue about who the ref was counting for, and it turns out that the referee was counting for Del Toro! Legado Del Fantasma are the new WWE Tag Team Champions! This leaves Finn Balor fuming for another title opportunity.
Winners and new Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions: The Latino World Order
Ilja Dragunov (c) vs. Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Championship
Ilja Dragunov has been on a roll on the main roster ever since defeating Gunther at SummerSlam to end his reign at 422 days! Dragunov is much more well known as the wildcard killer that was seen on NXT. However, there is another man who has been on a roll since returning to WWE: The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. Cody has faced off against current Seth Freakin Rollins, Finn Balor, Brock Lesnar, and Roman Reigns since returning. But now, he's facing someone who you don't even know what move is coming next. And Ilja Dragunov is the only thing standing in the way of calling Cody Rhodes Intercontinental Champion for a third time. The WWE Universe is hot in anticipation for this first time clash!
In the match, it is as bit of exciting as you would expect from these two. For every grapple that Cody has, Dragunov has a lightning quick punch. For every kick that Dragunov has, Cody has a knee. By the end of the match, Ilja Dragunov runs for the Torpedo Moscow, but Cody ducks and hits a disaster kick for a two count. Cody runs for a Cody Cutter, but Ilja knees him in the back of the neck and lands a Sick Lariat. He backs into the corner of the ring again, with craze in his eyes! He points at Cody and lands the Torpedo Moscow to get the three count and retain his IC Title!
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: Ilja Dragunov
Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter for the Women's Tag Team Championship
Ever since winning the Women's Tag Titles, Shayna and Ronda have ran through the competition, defeating every made up team that Adam Pearce could possibly create. But for Survivor Series, they have a new challenge: an actual tag team of KC Squared. Kayden and Katana have shown their ability to fight til the end in NXT and the main roster. However, the champions are not amused, seeing KC2 as stepping stone to their 'reign of terror'. But Carter and Chance are ready to see how well they fare against half of the Horsewomen.
In the match, Shayna uses submissions target KC'S arm and KC's leg. But Kayden's quickness and precision to bounce back into this match. Ronda is just being her rowdy self, punching and flipping the KC Undercovers whenever she can. But Katana uses her past from American Ninja Warrior to catch the fighters off guard. After trying to catch up with Katana at the end of the match, Shayna finally grabs her and locks in the Kirifuda Clutch, making Katana tap out while Kayden and Ronda brawl on the outside to retain the titles.
Winners and still Women's Tag Team Champions: Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey
Seth Freakin Rollins (c) vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship
Seth Rollins holds the World Heavyweight Championship up to this point, retaining the title against the likes of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Shinsuke Nakamura. But his next challenge comes in the form of Der Ring General, Gunther! Gunther is on the radar after losing his Intercontinental Championship to Ilja Dragunov at SummerSlam. He almost immediately challenges The Visionary to a match at Survivor Series, which Rollins happily accepts. He'll gladly defeat 'Walter' again.
This match is obviously a banger of a match. There are knees, chops, slaps, headbutts, suplexes, stomps, boots, everything! Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser do try to interfere, but Rollins takes them out with Suicide Dives. Gunther has Rollins in a sleeper hold, but Rollins counters with something akin to the Salida Del Sol, laying both men out and down for the count.
L... A... KNIGHT!
Holy Shit! LA Knight runs down the ramp with his Money in The Bank Briefcase, and cashes it in during the fucking match! He's pulling a Seth Rollins! As Samantha Irvin announces that LA Knight is cashing in his briefcase, Knight hits Seth with a BFT and immediately pins him to become the second World Heavyweight Champion of this lineage!
Winner and new World Heavyweight Champion: LA Knight (via MITB Cash-In)
The Usos vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa
After Night of Champions, Roman Reigns is absolutely irate at Jimmy Uso for what he did; if he didn't superkick him, TWICE, then Roman and Solo would have held the Tag Team Championships by now! Jimmy is rebelling against Roman for all the abuse that he and his brother have endured for the past three years. He believes that he should be The Tribal Chief, and not Roman, because he will actually treat his family with respect when they help him retain a title for three years. At Money in the Bank, Reigns retains the championship in a scene similar to Hell in a Cell 2020: Roman having Jimmy locked in the guillotine choke, with Jimmy reaching out to Jey, who actually got spiked by Solo per Roman's orders (unwillingly however). Jimmy passes out, but Roman doesn't let him go long after the bell!
At this point, Jimmy Uso is not considered a part of The Bloodline anymore by the champion. It's now Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Paul Heyman, and Solo Sikoa. Jey, however, is not thrilled to be a part of this group anymore. At SummerSlam, Roman retains the title against Bobby Lashley, with the help of Solo. Jey doesn't even show up to Detroit, which is pissing Roman Reigns off even more. He won't be at Extreme Rules, but he has the perfect match to replace his usual place on the card, the main event: Jey Uso vs. Solo Sikoa! This is an emotional match for both brothers, with both hesitating to hit each other with their biggest moves. Solo eventually hits Jey with the Samoan Spike to win this difficult battle.
Roman is back, and he's proud of Solo for delivering the final blow. Sikoa says nothing, but his silence is really speaking a million words at this point. Jey Uso finally lets out his frustrations on The Tribal Chief, saying that Reigns isn't giving his family credit for him even keeping the championship for this long. He doesn't care about The Bloodline. He's only caring for himself and what he can do to keep those two belts. If he did, then Jimmy would be here right now. Jey asks Solo what he thinks about it. Nothing comes out of his mouth. Roman decides to have a tag team match at Survivor Series: The Usos vs. Roman and Solo. Everyone is clear about what they want except two people: Solo and Heyman.
At Survivor Series, Roman confronts Jey head-on without an ounce of heart. The crowd empathizes with Jey's struggle against his own family. Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa's silence grows more pronounced, his conflicted emotions evident in every hesitant movement he makes. The Usos are still one of the greatest tag teams of all time, and they prove this be executing their most famous moves. However, Roman and Solo prove their dominance throughout the match. Heyman is just sitting back with his heart racing as he's witnessing a family war. But then, Solo Sikoa once again hesitates, granting Jey Uso an opportunity to capitalize! Jey hits Solo with a superkick, and pins him for the three count! The emotional rollercoaster of this match reaches its peak as The Usos stand tall. Roman's expression is a mixture of disappointment and contemplation. Solo Sikoa rises to his feet, exchanging in a brief glance with The Tribal Chief. This signals the uncertainty and complexity that lies ahead for The Bloodline's future.
Winners: The Usos

2023.06.03 04:41 petra811 Family corrupted right out of CAS and Sunset Valley issues(?)
I felt like making some new sims today, who I also wanted to put into one of my newer saves (as townies) (yes, I'm using a lot of cc, but please keep reading). Everything was fine until I tried to move them from the library into the world: the game crashed immediately, but I wasn't worried because map view tends to give me that issue regardless of if I'm in live mode or edit world (not all the time, but it depends on the circumstances). So I rebooted the game, same thing happens. Then, same again.
So I decided to try in another save, since this save (Sunset Valley) was giving me some issues outside of this incident too. Tried in some other worlds, same result. I even downloaded Hylewood (which is beautiful btw!), a really small world that's fully empty just to test. Didn't make a difference.
So at this point, I gave up on this family, despite how proud I was of the main sim (it had 2 sims, 2 dogs. 1 sim human, 1 fairy). But I wanted to know what was causing it, so if it's a piece of bad cc I'd know what to remove, or if something happened to a feature I rarely used, I'd at least know about that. I created variatious 1 sim households, each with a different part of what the family had: cc clothes, custom sliders, fairy, the skin I was using etc. But there were 0 issues moving these sims in.
It was at this point that I started suspecting Sunset Valley. I created the family in a save that's in this world, but I have another save I played recently. This other save is also incredibly hard to play, though it hasn't gone on as long as my saves in other towns. From my experince over the years, it doesn't take long for me to experince mayor issues in this world; probably after 2-3 sim weeks my game starts slowing down, as well as often crashing. As it went on, it's gotten to the point where it crashes every 10-20 minutes (this is where I currently have 7 sim weeks). There seem to be some underlying glitch, because that's not long enough time for the town to overpopulate, though they do adopt more pets than any other town. Even as a child, I never had any long saves in this town because it became unplayable.
I just don't know why this is, I haven't seen that many horror stories about Sunset Valley in the community (though I know some updates exist for it). Why could this have happened to my family? Should I completely give up on placing them, or is there a way to fix this?

2023.06.03 04:14 IvaIsTrash Practically No One Came to my Graduation Party
This is a throw away account I guess? I don't even have a main Reddit account but my friends are less likely to find me through this account (I made it in middle school and never used it lol)
Anyways.
Today was my graduation party. I just graduated high school and I'm really proud of myself because honestly I never thought I'd make it to this point (throughout all of middle school and the start of high school I struggled with severe depression). So, it was an accomplishment. I graduated two weeks ago but pushed out my graduation party until today because of personal family scheduling. I sent out all the invitations last week, and today I was really excited. I had custom decorations for the college I'm going to, I had cute little sets ups for all my interests and my senior pictures were on display. I was really excited. I had invited 45 of my closest friends, family, and even teachers to the party to celebrate and I'd say about 90% of people had told me that they were going to come. It was great, I thought it was going to be a packed house.
To be honest, there was a small part of me that was worried because yesterday three of my close friends informed me that they couldn't come to the party, but I really tried to be positive. To be honest, I have really bad rejection sensitive dysphoria and I always focus on the worst case scenario. So I was worried that I would spend hours waiting around for people to come and no one would actually show up.
That's basically what happened today. It took thirty minutes for the first guest to show up, one of my best friends. Slowly, more people trickled in and all was going well for the first hour or so. As time went by, though, I started to grow more and more worried that no one was actually coming because eventually it reached a complete standstill of people arriving. It was a four hour party, though, but that's because it was meant to be a open-house thing. By hour three I realized that no one else was coming.
The final total of actual guests was 14. 14 out of 45 people invited show up. That's a whopping 31%. Over half of the people I invited didn't show up.
I can't help but feel upset. I'm trying so hard to focus on the positive, on the people who were actually there for me but God it is so hard. I love the 14 people who showed up. I loved them when I invited them and I love them even more now because they were the only ones who came. But I loved the other 31 people I invited as well. I just feel like something has to be wrong with me.
Why couldn't they love me enough to just show up to my party? It didn't have to be for long. A five minute visit would've been better than this. I showed up to all of these people's parties, those who were graduating with me.
I know that some were out of town or had previous commitments, but it hurts. I feel like the unwanted little kid who sits at their birthday party just hoping, wishing, praying for anyone to actually show up. I ordered food for forty people, spent a lot of money on catering.
I have a lot of leftovers now.
I'm just sad and lonely and upset. I give and I give and I give, but I feel like no one ever returns.
It was a sucky party. It wasn't even a party. I just wish I could know what I did wrong that practically no one made time for me.
Thank you for reading this and I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful day/night, whenever you read this.
TL;DR: I invited 45 people to a party, and only 14 showed up and now I'm just really upset and unsure what I did wrong that no one wanted to come to my party.

2023.06.03 04:12 Dramatic_Sample_7302 I love this period
2023.06.03 03:56 Drakolf The Fall of the Grann Magocracy:
The war was brutal, when first contact was made.
All at once, entire livelihoods were rendered obsolete, years of carefully and rigorously studied science utterly decimated as the reality of Humanity's existence was made apparent: Our understanding of the universe was highly localized, the source of life as we knew it was barely enough to sustain us, and when the Grann Magocracy arrived, they brought with them weapons of terrible destruction, weapons so devastating that it would take ten generations for Humanity to recover.
There were no words of surrender, no declarations that we must capitulate in the face of overwhelming power. They took one look at Humanity's backwards ways and saw them as little more than backwards savages, and with the detonation of one bomb reduced Earth's total population from ten billion down to a mere three billion, then divided what remained between three factions among their race.
One third taken to be used as an alternative source of mana, forcibly branded, their minds ensnared, that trickle- ripped wide open in the face of the attack- connected to grand and terrible machinery so that they might serve as little more than living batteries.
One third was taken to be used as slaves, given no rights, bound within malign veils of deceit, imprisoned in twisting spells, changed over and over again into specialized beasts of burden, barely human save for the lone mercy of retaining their minds.
And one third, those poor unfortunate souls, were spared, granted dominion over their insignificant mote within the infinite expanse of the cosmos, left to survive in a world viciously mutated with wild magic, left to prove their worth to their oppressors.
The first three generations banded together to survive, much knowledge had been lost of the old ways, those who survived were the laymen, once-proud pagans who were certain their way of life was the truth, vindicated in the worst possible way, societies that had indulged in anachronism, the wealthy who suddenly found that their power was just as ephemeral as the illusion that clouded Humanity's development.
In spite of the devastation, the magic that sought to corrupt what remained, Humanity managed to band together, most electronic machinery simply ceased to work, their circuits overloaded, or data was irretrievably lost, all attempts at preserving what history they had was unfortunately lost as the world was slowly overrun by nature.
The fourth generation was the first born into a world completely different from what had been, the first had died early, mortality manifest far before what they had grown up to expect, the second had been luckier, remembered the stories, told them to their children, who in turn told it to their children, of how their home had been destroyed by a great evil, how their families had been taken. This was the generation that gave birth to the generation of wrath.
It was upon the fifth generation's genesis, that Human society had stabilized. Resembling what had once been considered little more than an anachronistic fancy. They were the ones who mastered the gift of shaping metal, they were the ones who mastered the wilds, who took the monsters that haunted the edge of their society and whittled them down to vicious pets.
They were the first to embrace the terrible power that had lain low their ancestors, they were the first to wield it in the desire for survival, and like many Humans in their long-forgotten history, they wielded it with savagery that was matched only by recklessness. Maintaining distance was the purview of the cowardly and evil Theocracy that had stolen their lands, yet they mastered that art, studied it, understood through sheer trial and error how to counter it, and eventually, they trained their children, and their children's children, generational trauma transforming into a faith, a faith twisting into a lifestyle, a liftstyle twisting into how life always was. They spread across the land, taming the wilds, plumbing the depths of the old world, letting rage build up within their souls as they made the land theirs once more.
It was the tenth generation that tamed the continent, who laid low the threats that had once sought their demise. It was they who bent the ancient boughs of still-living trees, who with raw will and vengeance in their hearts shaped and reinforced glass, who formed metal shells which could sustain even their most brutal of ranged spells.
The Human Armada, numbering five billion, took to the stars and into the waiting jaws of their oppressors, who in their hubris and long lives had observed the Humans from afar. They thought nothing of setting off another bomb, only to realize in growing horror that the ships the remnants of Humanity had lashed together grew faster, arcane shields shifting from a calm blue to a blazing red.
They expected ranged magic that they had long ago outgrown, they had not anticipated the Humans ramming into their ships, pouring into their galleys and slaughtering each and every warrior who found that for all their mastery, they could not divert nor cancel out a magically enhanced wedge of metal.
The first battle slaked the thirst for blood that had been growing, yet did nothing for the hunger for vengeance mankind had developed.
Mindless Human slaves, rendered ageless, yet radically different from their saviors, were granted death. But Humanity did not stop to mourn. They took the weapons of mass destruction their enemies had wielded against them, attached them to their starships, and with unfathomable amounts of mana directly mainlined into their living vessels, they tore at the seams of reality, using what few prisoners they cared to keep as guidance toward the heart of the Magocracy.
They didn't waste time with skirmishes on the edges of their territories, they simply plowed through every blockade they came across, tore through every barrier erected in their presence, and at speeds once thought impossible, they managed in mere hours what even the brightest mages could not fathom.
They crashed into the Grann Magocracy's throneworld, entire cities were decimated on arrival, and the unrelenting tide of metal-clad warriors poured into the streets. Civilians fled in terror, warriors engaged in a desperate, yet ultimately futile attempt at staving off the inevitable tide of wrath. It was not long before it was noted the Humans did not target non-combatants, only those who attacked them. Many beings of many species stood by in terror, it was the slaves that approached them, twisted beasts of burden who knew the way to the High Arcaneum.
The lost third of Humanity, unrecognizable in shape, yet they had carried that same flame of hatred and resentment, and arm in bloodstained arm, they stormed the High Arcaneum and reduced it to nothing but fine bloodstained sand.
Humanity took control. They gathered the politicians, the rich, the archmages, branded them as they had once branded their brethren, and made them serve them in dissolving the Magocracy and granting the lands that had been stolen freedom from their oppressors.
The process was laborious, one billion Humans remained behind, a vanguard overseeing the dissolution of a vast nation, the rest returned to Earth, bringing with them not only their lost family, but any who wished to join them.
As one vast nation died, another gradually grew into life- one not guided by kings of archmagi, but one that lived in harmony in remembrance to a long forgotten world that had valued freedom and security, a world cruelly destroyed.
The Coalition-Worlds of Mankind was born.

2023.06.03 03:34 livingalifeinthesun WIBTA for skipping a wedding?
Hi. I could use an answer in the next few hours if anyone can offer it 💓
Context: I’m a 25 y/o black female that has dealt with with diagnosed PTSD, anxiety, & bipolar disorder and currently being tested for lupus after severe physical pain the last year. I come from a family with a black American parent and an immigrant who have always had extremely high expectations that I used to be able to meet, and have a negative attitude towards health related rest due to how they grew up.
After losing my job in December and having my mental & physical symptoms worsen exponentially I have been living with them. They invited me to come home and told me not to get another so student since I didn’t have a job. But they now seem to be angry that after a few months I’m not the high functioning over achieve I was a year or two ago and they get upset with me for a lot. Now, to their point, I am not perfect but the last year has been really hard for me including a period in July that scared me an all of them. Since then I’ve been trying to reframe my life not take too much on and work with my therapist & doctors to keep stress down including saying no more. I’ve gone from being the family member who would drop everything and fly three states over to babysit someone kids if they needed to struggling to walk around too much or deal with loud sounds. And I feel a bit pathetic about it but I’m proud of how I’ve been minimizing some things.
One of my friends as a kid who is like family is having a wedding tomorrow a few hours out, but to go I have to ride in a car with both my parents and a sibling for 5 hours and then go straight to the event and then we would stay in one hotel room and then drive back at 4/5 am because they want to go to church in the morning. In the past this would not have been a problem but lately with the stress and my mom taking every opportunity to go off about how lazy I am and how I’m really not trying to work, and that I’ve stopped being helpful I don’t know that I can handle it. This week I’ve already been on the verge of a bit of a mental breakdown dealing with some past bills but I do want to go to the wedding. The friend honestly won’t care too much if I don’t go because we don’t chat that often and it’s going to be a huge wedding, but if I don’t go I know my mom will harp on it for the next week and my dad actually does want me to go. But I don’t know if I can handle the tight space and berating comments with how my brain is this week. But I’m also not sure if I should just be pushing myself and trying harder.
WIBTA for maybe skipping out?

2023.06.03 03:34 Ready-Ad9344 How can I (26F) tell my boyfriend (26M) that he could help me out?
I recently moved in my first apartment in January all by myself. Super proud of myself! My boyfriend lives with his mother and stepfather in a house. So he has a phone bill and car insurance. I have 7 different bills to (car, car insurance, rent, gas, electricity, phone, & internet). As well as $300 in groceries a month. Last month my job closed the business and filed for bankruptcy. So I have been struggling to make ends meet.
He spends most of his time here since I’ve been unemployed but helps with nothing. Not even $20 for grocery that he knows he will eat. Instead he wants to go buy so many things he doesn’t need like clothes, shoes, etc and doesn’t even think about “here’s $5 for gas”
I adopted 2 kittens and he wanted them just as bad it’s our little family and no help with them. I’m really getting fed up with this leeching type of behavior.
Other than this we are great together. We both are in a financial crisis right now but I’m broke because I was being responsible paying bills.
How can I bring this up without making it seem as if I’m attacking him?

2023.06.03 03:25 anon594874yi Why does everybody hate Andrew Tate so much for no reason?
I don’t understand why so many people hate Andrew Tate so much, especially women, even Muslim women. He’s fighting against feminism and all these degenerate ideologies. He’s done more for the Ummah than most of us could ever in our lives.
What bad has he done? He’s motivated men to take care of themselves, control themselves, and be good fathers, husbands, and role models and he wants women to be comfortable at home with their husbands and be great mothers, wives, and role models. I understand he might have said bad things in the past, but overall, he generally makes great points like how traditional gender and family roles are being destroyed, and how Islam is the only religion that doesn’t tolerate degeneracy. Of the bad things he says, he’s just being a charactepersona most of the time, and even if he was being serious, this was all before he converted to Islam.
It’s annoying to hear people’s justification for their hatred of our brother Tate by saying “he’s a misogynist”, “he’s a sx traffickerpist”. Unfortunately in a society like this, people just want to do anything to make him guilty, even though he’s not even in jail anymore and is not proven guilty yet. Those same people who hate the Tate brothers, they would also be proudly cheering and enjoying themselves fully at some Chris Brown concert or some rapper like 6ix9ine, and funny enough, they actually objectify women with such filthy slurs and even abuse women, yet they get way more respect than our brother Andrew Tate does. Again, since Andrew Tate converted to Islam, all of his sins are washed away. Even if he is guilty, though the world would hate him, we got to support him and make sure he doesn’t do those things again. Many of the Sahaba also did worse things than him, and even some of them attempted to kill our beloved prophet (saw), and he forgave them after they converted. The double standard is that when some celebrity who is lgbt or liberal converts, just because they appear to be nice, they get praised heavily, but when somebody like Andrew Tate converts, they get massive amounts of hate.
Why don’t we give Andrew Tate another chance, whether he’s innocent or guilty? There’s this Hadith saying that “help your brother, whether he is oppressed or an oppressor”. This is not saying that if he’s guilty, that we condone what he did. This means that we support him in the sense that he would stop doing the crime and would make reparations to the victim.
Lastly, while Andrew Tate mainly says good things, he does have flaws too, but just like any other Muslim, we are all learning something new every day. If he does any sort of mistake or sin publicly after his conversion, he should just be privately informed and that we pray Allah guides him and us all.
