Okay, here's my dilemma. I have a trailer, so space is at a premium, plus I also like my electronics on the small side. What's my best option for a mini arcade cabinet? Could I build my own, and if so, what building materials should I use? Alternately, should I just buy a Countercade and have someone else do all the work for me? (I have the tools to cut and drill, but it's been my experience that DIY can get expensive fast, especially the failures.) Alternately alternately, could I get by with that iCade they made several years back and a tablet? I have the withered technology to spare (I can't believe tablets, the stuff of science fiction in Star Trek and 2001: A Space Odyssey, are now just e-waste), but nothing to create the illusion of being in an arcade without gobbling up a whole bunch of space.

Never had my eye on a Partycade; but with HSN selling them for $129.99 and that recent Guitar Hero Mod - starting to consider it.
Quick questions...
1.) All of them seem to be 1 Player. Heard there is a USB connection for a 2nd player, don't see this in the pictures. Does this exist on all of them?
2.) Obviously the outside panels are different compared to the 3/4; does an 19 inch monitor fit?
3.) Anyone know of any shops offering customized panels or even a stand for it?

I was able to get the MKII cab for $349 from Best buy along with Pacman for $300 as an open box special. Last week I scored the Tempest cab when HSN put them on sale for 449. I know that's the normal price, but they have their 5 month payment plan so it's $90 a month, which is pretty nice. The open box Pac man cab showed up with damaged side panels (on red trim in front) and the control panel wasn't working. I contacted arcade1up and within a week I had a replacement control panel and two new side panels as well. The new control panel fixed the problem and now it's working great. All I have to say is that Aracade1up's customer service really won me over and I'm a hard core fan right out of the gate. My future plans are to expand into the now fish room downstairs, so as soon as I find new homes for my fish and corals I can then start moving into the final arcade room. So will probably be a while before I post any new machines for quite a while as I have two huge reef tanks that are a pain to sell.On my short list for future cabs are as follows: Tron cab, sit down driving game (maybe Daytona if it's larger), centipede cab (if I like the 2020 release), Dragon's Lair cab and maybe the Defender 40th cab, even though it has the same games as my MKII cab. If they ever make a Robotron cab, I will have to have it 100%. Looking forward to see what arcade1up and other companies bring out for the new year along with what you guys pickup and how you add to all of your home arcades. Thanks! |
2021.11.22 06:28 Smashingtime98 If the Amico is meant for casuals, why are there no fitness games on the system?
Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus were some of the most popular games on Wii, when their sales figures are combined they're the second most popular game on Wii at more than 40 million just behind the juggernaut pack in game Wii Sports (which I think is reasonable considering that Wii Fit Plus replaced Wii Fit on store shelves).
Ring Fit Adventure is one of the most popular Switch games selling over 10 million despite there being shortages of the game. And Fitness Boxing, despite being a low budget game done by a small dev., has been incredibly successful enough to get a sequel.
Tommy clearly has demonstrated in the past that he's seen the Wii's software sales, so why not do a fitness game? It would help sell the Amico to those who don't care about gaming. Average American soccer mom would buy an Amico to help her exercise while Little Timmy is allowed to play Astrosmash or Bank Tattle on it. Win-win for everyone (assuming Little Timmy doesn't get bored with his games after 10 minutes). Also if the Amico ever got on to HSN or QVC (lol), it'd make for a great selling point.
Biggest concern would be how to make the Amico controller a usable piece of workout equipment (assuming making a new controller is automatically out) but I think it could still be done if they were creative about it and if it was much earlier in development than they are now.
I think it really highlights this is more for Tommy to relive his childhood playing one screen Arcade style games while also being a cosplay CEO and all the perks that come with that (like more money!) He's just throwing the non-gaming racists very small bones like Cornhole or Sesame Street Flash ports to get them to buy the console, while he focuses most of his money on remaking old games like Moon Patrol or Missile Command that casuals would've never heard of.
If the Amico somehow became successful, I have no doubt that Tommy would drop them immediately to make games with arcade licenses that he was unable to get before the Amico launch due to a lack of money (like anything from from Capcom, Konami, Namco, etc.) and be able to fund a ton more Intellivision and Atari remakes.

Ring Fit Adventure is one of the most popular Switch games selling over 10 million despite there being shortages of the game. And Fitness Boxing, despite being a low budget game done by a small dev., has been incredibly successful enough to get a sequel.
Tommy clearly has demonstrated in the past that he's seen the Wii's software sales, so why not do a fitness game? It would help sell the Amico to those who don't care about gaming. Average American soccer mom would buy an Amico to help her exercise while Little Timmy is allowed to play Astrosmash or Bank Tattle on it. Win-win for everyone (assuming Little Timmy doesn't get bored with his games after 10 minutes). Also if the Amico ever got on to HSN or QVC (lol), it'd make for a great selling point.
Biggest concern would be how to make the Amico controller a usable piece of workout equipment (assuming making a new controller is automatically out) but I think it could still be done if they were creative about it and if it was much earlier in development than they are now.
I think it really highlights this is more for Tommy to relive his childhood playing one screen Arcade style games while also being a cosplay CEO and all the perks that come with that (like more money!) He's just throwing the non-gaming racists very small bones like Cornhole or Sesame Street Flash ports to get them to buy the console, while he focuses most of his money on remaking old games like Moon Patrol or Missile Command that casuals would've never heard of.
If the Amico somehow became successful, I have no doubt that Tommy would drop them immediately to make games with arcade licenses that he was unable to get before the Amico launch due to a lack of money (like anything from from Capcom, Konami, Namco, etc.) and be able to fund a ton more Intellivision and Atari remakes.

I update the Reddit version of this Repository every 6 months. If you see an old version of it, it is likely locked as Reddit threads expire after 6 months. The old ones will be out of date, so remember to change the link when that occurs. I also have two other versions of the Repository that you could access. There is the Spreadsheet version and then the Discord Server Version. With the Discord version, you can be notified as soon as a new Server is added to the Repository right away as well as other announcements such as major changes to the Server links.
