2023.05.04 08:46 KahvelKutt Serial Triple Muder

This is my first murder case after the tutorial. First one in a larger city so I don't have a home base pretty much any money or anything like that. I get called on the radio initially for a muder in a upstanding nice apartment building with a bunch of offices or the people who live their work. Apartment 304 in Kirkwood suites.
Nice little apartment well laid out but unfortunately middle-aged woman laid out throat cut a ritualistic circle painted around her blood and DL PAID painted up on the wall behind her. I find a hammer on her this poor woman probably tried to fight back. But to no avail I unfortunately myself couldn't actually find the wounds I just know what I did by inspecting the body itself not much to work off of fingerprints or just of the Vic and her girlfriend. What am I going to do?
I come to find a crumpled up piece of paper nearby the body. A singular piece of paper has what I can only describe as a word bank and some blanks like you would say on hangman and it says at the top "let's play" scrawled out in very noticeable and stylized handwriting. But I scan the paper and I find a singular fingerprint. A K print, A fingerprint of somebody I haven't met yet but if nobody belonging in the apartment or the police officers investigating. (And for that I know for a fact because I had previously been to The enforcers office gone through all the employees and gotten their personal information off the computer).
I've searched her house haven't found any access to her emails found bare bones about where she worked even less about her spouse hadn't met the woman till later nothing. So of course I run over to the office do my best to almost get caught a bunch of times and find my way in eventually Don't come up with much but a couple of unfortunate upgrades that went missing out of there companies safe. So I'm back to not knowing anything other than they're out there.
And in the midst of that next day after the initial murder another notification from the city of popped up to go visit a suspected theft but I didn't think much of it this was my first murder I was putting my time into it be really trying to figure out who done it so I didn't think much of it...
It's not but about a day and a half later I'm finally getting all that information from the business and may or may not have gotten sidetracked in a very similar looking business a floor down (I had gotten lost in the air vents).
By this point in time I get another notification emergency at apt 302 Kirkwood Suites, But wait isn't that the next door neighbor that I talked to just 36 hours before? So at that point in time I literally walk next door to the other apartment and find that the neighbor that I had just talked to and gave me some good leads on a tall blonde that seem to be angry leaving the apartment I find dead in a nearly identical fashion to his recently deceased neighbor. Again a slit to the throat, a ritualistic circle of blood around, and WS PAID on the wall.. And it hits me all this time I've been thinking there was something more sinister but it's just there initials I thought I was onto something else. Of course I jump into all of it I find the paper alas of course it has a singular fingerprint the same murderer, and yet the hangman now has two letters filled out the first was blank spaces...
I do less investigating this time because now I know it's a serial killing and my time is a lot more valuable, It's only a matter of time before they kill again and as we saw before I was only to right but already to late.
That other notification lead me to an entire different complex confuses me makes me think that it isn't involved and not something to be worried about, so I find my way in get past the enforcers and I find what seemed like a hastier murder. And yet the same MO. Circle of blood nothing seemingly taken or destroyed and yet the throat is cut and a paper is left yet again with a singular fingerprint to a completely unknown person.
So at this point in time I had just found a third body, the same way to be killed same stuff left riding on the walls on the floors in their blood and just about no leads because I visited The workplace of the first woman found nothing pointing to anything or anybody else, The second, the neighbor I hadn't even gotten a chance till I decided I should go check out the other one because I had lost myself. But now I thought at real evidence I had a hunch. I went to this new unfortunately third victims place of work with the knowledge in mind that I was going to do what I did at the first try to find her workplace through her emails see if I could find any intimidating documentation that might lead me where I need to go. And just when I was really losing hope trying to get in without being seen turn off the cameras and find the passwords I pulled out my scanner to see if I could find my victims prints...low and behold the office is full of the prince labeled K, all around everywhere undeniable fact that whoever K is belongs in and comes to work in the office I am now sitting in in the middle of the night.
So I finally have gotten a break I sit back I'm going "ohhhh shit, I did it I finally have a lead" and better than a lead I stumbled right onto my killer. And of any indication with the notes that would being left they intended to kill at least six more times with the word scramble. So of course from that point I find her name it turns out it's my third (second) victims boss. The CEO even, she written her up previously instead of some dispute between the two I don't even understand the motive or if there was one. But I find my way to her house, her name and his luck would have it again on my side I catch her walking out of her apartment just seconds after coming to it myself I talk with her literally you've not suspect anything and of course break on in see the place for myself.
It looked like her and who I come to find out her partner I just moved in boxes everywhere kind of a clutter nothing specific here or there but yet I see her work schedule and I see a very specific way of writing and I notice it's the exact same as our papers I think I know I have her now I really just need one more thing to arrest her. So I go back and run back to work meet her just as she's getting back from lunch or rest her in her office verify the prints and turn in the case...
I think the craziest part of the whole case is that at one point in time when I was trying to do some handwriting matching the victim who lived next door to the original apartment I started at actually had the same type of handwriting and I couldn't work out how it could have possibly been a suicide and then come to find out the woman who did it the CEO who as far as I could tell past being friends generally didn't have any connections with these other people because they all worked at different businesses and lived in a different apartment from her... And there were no fingerprints on any part of the crime scene except for the paper the little game that she wanted to play with me or more likely her victims families. I'm sad for the fact that I couldn't solve the word scramble itself but when even though they may be just a hundred little pixels and some AI I couldn't wait a handful of people die just to play hangman.
This is kind of why I do wish and please correct me if I'm wrong that there were some way to find out the nitty-gritty details of what was planned or how it was supposed to go or if there's any of that kind of stuff even for storytelling sake just to understand what was going on because it could have been so much bigger and so much worse if I wasn't able to frankly fall into the answer like I did.

Keep that in mind for further down, where Ikeda claims his cult is so "democratic" because it supposedly represents all social strata and remember that fascist movements start within the lower social strata (as lower middle class and the politically disenfranchised) and feature hatred of Marxists.

Then he can carry out all the activities he should as a Bodhisattva of the Earth. His activity is never fruitless in any sense and is changed into the magnet which draws Kosen-rufu nearer.
Except now Kosen-rufu has disappeared over the distant horizon, never to be seen ever. Let's all agree it was a stoopid idea to begin with. Nichiren was a dumbass.
In a word, everything depends on the Daimoku.

Today I wrote a calligraphic scroll "Itai Doshin" (unity based on faith). This I did because I wanted to present it to the training institute of the Headquarters staff in Hakone.
Of course there's NOTHING anyone else there would want more! 🙄
In Itai Doshin, we can attain anything but in Dotai Ishin (the antonym of Itai Doshin (unity) Dotai neans that many belong to one organization and Ishin means that yet they have no same objective or idea - it is like the crew of a ship having different destinations), we can achieve nothing remarkable. This holds true both for Buddhism as well as in other matters. Since "all phenomena in the universe reveal Buddhism," if you realize the depths of the worldly law, you will arrive at Buddhism. Thus the same principle applies conclusively both to Buddhism and worldly affairs.
I don't think so.

Doshin of Itai Doshin in Buddhism means to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.

From another angle, it signifies the unity aimed at in Kosen-rufu. Itai means the establishment of each individual self.
And Doshin means each individual self doing EXACTLY what Ikeda commands them to do!
It indicates oneself. There are no contradictions in Buddhism, which clarifies the highest principle of democracy.
...and explains why there is NONE within the Ikeda cult!! No contradictions at ALL!
This is obvious from the fact that the Sokagakkai membership comprises people in all walks of life such as company owners, factory workers, housewives, office girls, students, statesmen and educators and that these members are taking active parts in their environments and occupations as they like.
Yeah, which is WHY the Sokagakkai had such a reputation as an organization of "the poor and the sick."
They live in society. This is indicative of Itai. Yet all of them have no alternative but to chant Daimoku to establish their own happiness.
Yikes - sounds ugly!
They engage in various activities to spread the True Buddhism for the establishment of a peaceful and prosperous society, or in other words, Kosen-rufu. Their homes, occupations and social standings are widely varied. They are quite free.
Yeah, as "free" as anyone else trapped within a cult! Free to be exploited!
This is Itai. However, fundamentally all of them chant Daimoku for their own happiness. This is Doshin. I think this is the supreme formula of democracy.
Well, it's been well-established that Ikeda has never had ANY understanding of what "democracy" actually entails and that he in fact holds the concept in contempt, so...
Although this may sound conceited, I am making full preparations for the program to be realized twenty or thirty years from now... (pp. 294-296)
"The program" failed. It's been almost SIXTY years since he said that - so much for his conceit!
There is no doubt that I am a leader in Kosen-rufu. (pp. 294-298)

For the past five full years since my inauguration as President, I am fully convinced that a firm and unyielding base for Kosen-rufu has been established.
I would like to pay my sincere respect to those leaders who, centered on me for these past five years - although I am still far from perfect - have striven every day, month and year with the spirit of "establishing the True Buddhism for the pacification of the land" and have devoted themselves to the practice of propagation.
Now, I have renewed my resolution to take the leadership in promoting Kosen-rufu a step further...
Especially remarkable was the development of the Young Men's and Young Women's and Student Divisions. The Young Men's Division increased from 158,000 to 1,800,000 members; the Young Women's Division, from 119,000 to 1,300,000; both making a striking increase of 1,100 per cent.
Don't ever accept SGI members' insistence that it isn't about the numbers; it's ALWAYS been about the NUMBERS!
All these signify the future development not only of the Sokagakkai but also of Japan. It gives me the greatest delight as it is the grand march of young promoters of Kosen-rufu or youthful Bodhisattvas of the Earth.
The Student Division, among others, increased its membership by 3,200 percent, from 2,200 to 71,000 members. It is still developing towards its membership goal of 100,000 by the General Meeting of the division slated for July of this year. This is the group of that many Sharihotsu's [sic] in Mappo and I believe that it is the greatest proof that worldwide kosen-rufu will certainly be attained. (pp. 304-306)
That ↑ is from 1965. Notice the results of outside research into the Sokagakkai's claims of massive numbers of university students joining:
The constant asseveration of the Society that university students are flocking to join it seems to conflict with these findings. According to the Seikyo Shimbun of August 7 and 25, 1967, the Sokagakkai [university] Student Division had acquired 200,000 members out of the slightly more than one million college students in the nation - roughly 18%. But a 1966 survey of 6,000 university students in the Tokyo area turned up only 52 professed Gakkai members, less than 1% of the respondents. Source
If the Sokagakkai's claims had been true, that 1966 survey should have turned up 1,080 Gakkai-member students; it found only 52 willing to disclose Sokagakkai membership - less than 5% of the numbers the Gakkai was claiming. The Ikeda cult's boasts melt away under scrutiny.
However, let me state that in this disturbed world with the Vietnam war still dragging on, the faster the spread of Nichiren Shoshu is, the earlier the peace of the world will be brought out, and that if it is delayed for a day, this world endure war a day longer [sic]. (p. 310)
I am fully convinced that the rise of Nichiren Shoshu and the Sokagakkai heralds the dawn of the religious world in Mappo, while that of the Komeito is the dawn upon the darkness of Japan's political field and is likewise the awakening of the people from democracy at standstill. (p. 311)
The feeling that "One-world government is WRONG - unless WE're in charge" is the problem. There's a lot more; I'll put it up in future installments. Thanks for reading.

Scope

These ships were given to me by Wargaming for review.
Welcome back. Sure, it does seem rather apt to jump into the first published review in sometime with the addition of two new Baltimores…well, one Oregon-City Cruiser, and another Baltimore. With both ships being so closely related, it seems fitting to tag them both together here. Per the norm, there will be lots of pretty charts, and a comprehensive breakdown of both ships; with the added benefit of showing exactly where these two wrap up into the bigger picture.
All stats are current to the best of my knowledge as of v5.1. Stats are subject to change in the future, and this review may not reflect those changes.
Celtic is a GREAT ship, with a MODERATE Skill Floor and a HIGH Skill Ceiling.
Rochester is an AVERAGE ship, with a LOW Skill Floor and a MODERATE Skill Ceiling.
Quite obviously, this review is going to be mostly centered on Celtic, with some Rochester slapped in there to show exactly how she stacks up to the competition. 2 for 1, or a freebie, you decide.

History

The design was first commissioned in the late 1930's, which adapted lessons learned from the preceding Wichita-Class and the currently under construction, lighter Cleveland Class. Baltimore's design featured an orthodox A-B-X configuration of 3 triple turrets of (8") 203mm guns. Fast and well-armed for the era, the fate of the project ended by cancelling later ships construction in favor of the Cleveland Class which were both faster, lighter, and quicker to build which meant more ships out at sea protecting US Navy Carriers. Baltimore Class Cruisers were built from 1941-1945 with some serving in various sub-classes until the 1970's.
With 14 completed ships of the class, the Baltimore-Class had the most constructed heavy cruisers built of any one class from nation during the war-time period. Generally considered a success, the class was preceded by the USS Wichita, and succeeded by the Oregon-City Class. With attached sub-classes, the Boston Class featuring the world's first Guided Missile Cruiser in the early 1950's USS Boston (CAG-1) and Flagship variations. The design was most notable for incorporation of surveillance radar, gun control fire systems which allowed for calculation beyond the horizon, 5'' Anti-Air, and 8'' Main Battery. This design was focused in on the ships ability to be a Carrier Fleet Escort Ship, capable of both Anti-Air Screening, Shore Bombardment, eventually being modified to serve as the world's first guided missile cruiser.
USS Baltimore (CA-68) herself was laid down in 1941, by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Massachusetts. The ship was launched in 1942 and served until 1956 when she was decommissioned, and eventually scrapped in 1971. The ship served primarily in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, earning 9 battle stars.
HMS Celtic is a made-up ship that never actually existed but rests on the concept that would have been if the Baltimore Class had been sent to the Royal Navy. This was not an entirely foreign concept of the era either, with the two allied nations cooperating heavily with some ships being used by the other’s navy. It would be this cooperation that ultimately played a decisive role in every major theatre of World War 2.
USS Rochester (CA-124) was laid down in the same shipyard as her predecessor, in May 1944. She would be launched in August the following year, then commissioned into the US Navy in 1946. Succeeding the Baltimore Class, the Oregon City Class featured many similarities, with changes to her exhaust, superstructure and Anti-Air Suite. Rochester would serve throughout Korea and Vietnam, being decommissioned in the 1960s, and scrapped in the 1970s. 10 Oregon City Cruisers were planned, with only 4 completed.

The Basics

A Baltimore with a Super Heal and longer-range radar? Sign me up. Baltimore on her own is already one of the stronger ships in the game and in terms of utility, one of the stronger team players. Celtic takes an interesting concept and adds a new flair to an older line. She has her own strengths and weaknesses, all of which will be identified, some of which are likely to be seemingly splitting the finest of hairs. This ship has a bit less of a grudge against controlling caps than the traditional Baltimore but should be readily found in the same niche doing the same things, just slightly different. Radar support, anti-destroyer, area control are all tags that apply. Celtic is strong, strong enough to be thrown in with the likes of AL Baltimore, Mainz CE and Wichita CE.
Trashchester is tough. I’ll honestly do my best to not shred this ship into a bajillion pieces while pouring out the salt, but I’m only human. She was painful on release, and since she’s had work done, fitting for her review to be finally finished and published for you all to use as a dash of seasoning for dinner. On release, Rochester had a smoke fire concealment on par with her sister’s base concealment, meaning, her smoke was essentially pointless and served only to blind herself, and not her opponents. Lacking radar, Rochester presented as a clumsy self-blinding target unable to deal the things that engage her. What’s worse, Rochester trades her heal for her smoke, meaning, players are left purchasing a regular old Baltimore, with some fancy AA, or a deaf-mute without a heal. Yes. She was that painful; a concept that bumps in the worst of ways, both theoretically and in practice. While her concealment has been buffed, it’s still an awful kit as her smoke fire concealment is still too weak to present much of a force upon the caps. If we’re stuck to smoke firing spam, there are better ships than Rochester; even making good old Belfast 43 seem like a knight in shining armor.
Both of these ships do sport improved AP performance, in the shape of improved ricochet angles. We’ll tear this apart in the ballistic section, as per the norm. Baltimore’s ballistic performance has been studied quite extensively in the past, which has set up an excellent point of comparison.

Offense

Let’s start with the prodigal child and then work towards the bought rented mule. Celtic does well here, in terms of heavy cruisers (203mm) she sits nearer the top of the lists dropping more midfield when included with the rest of the pack. Apart from some of those silly DPM small caliber ships, Celtic packs a noteworthy punch. Rochester starts more midfield and holds her placing through the pack. For a 203mm cruiser, a 2s difference in reload is often enough to bump a ship up or down a rank, entirely. This translates to roughly 20k between the two, and about a full salvo difference.

Celtic has among the better AP DPM values for a 203mm armed cruiser, only being outclassed by ships with meatier AP. In terms of overall, Celtic sits more midfield. Her overall AP ballistic performance allows her to unlock more of this actual number than many of her counterparts.

Overall, there’s not all that much to crow about here. Rochester sits a bit lower on the charts than Celtic due to reload. Both have improved ballistics to offer compensation for a lack of torpedoes. The DPM numbers are at their worst, workable, and at best, functional, neither being awful nor spectacular. Celtic takes the edge due to better numbers overall.

Ballistics

The tell-all ballistic chart. Royal Navy Cruisers and US Navy Cruisers sport among the best AP performance in their respective classes and tiers. Celtic has among the best HE DPM numbers of the Baltimores, but takes a hit on her fire chance percentage. Rochester SHAP hits like a truck, along with her Baltimore cousins. Things get interesting here the more you study this chart, captains. Celtic has arguably better HE, but worse AP. Rochester has SHAP and excellent AP performance, but poor shell count. AL Baltimore once again takes the cake with the best “happy medium” of the bunch, sporting a decent shell count, SHAP with excellent penetration and a lower muzzle velocity introducing slightly higher arcs yielding much more forgiving angles on the receiving end…
What I can say definitively, is Baltimore SHAP has much greater penetration than the standard AP. Wichita leans on HE at range, and she has the numbers to back it up, Baltimore hardly ever shoots HE in practice which is backed up by her AP performance and penetration values. Captains, it would not be entirely erroneous in terms of gunnery to compare Stock Baltimore to Celtic and Wichita or Elite Baltimore to Rochester and AL Baltimore.

The major and palpable difference in performance here is between Celtic and the native Baltimores, is that Celtic lacks SHAP. This means Celtic’s AP shells weigh less, which translates to depleting velocity and thus penetration values faster than the Baltimores heavier shells. Fortunately, Baltimore has some of the best AP penetration in her class which means that Celtic can afford to lose some raw penetration value before she begins to suffer. Rochester wins the AP argument here, while Celtic takes the HE side. It’s almost literally splitting hairs, and Baltimore Mains will feel right at home in either ship.

If you’re looking to start fires, grab Albemarle. However, this is about the only such category she takes. Celtic manages better with access to a shorter reload and better overall ballistic properties. Shell by shell, edge Rochester, overall, solidly in Celtic’s favor by a full 9 shells.

Torpedoes

Neither of these ships sport torpedoes, so this section is predicably blank.

Defense

Let’s jump into the major category of defense. Celtic arguably may be one of the best, Rochester, rather mediocre. From the top.
Celtic has among the best effective health pools, just edging out Edinburgh with a chunky 66k. It’s worth pointing out Albemarle tops both with a mighty 78k, though most Albemarle tend to be much more passive alluding to a different playstyle entirely. Baltimore is considered “tanky” at 56k, and Celtic adds in a super-heal. I wouldn’t chance to say Albemarle is particularly tanky, but she can heal quite well. A Baltimore is tanky enough to access that 66k EHP and is a scary thought. Baltimore can take a punch, where Edinburgh relies on defense by trickery, clever armor schemes and angling, Albemarle by range and angle. It’s also quite worth mentioning that Celtic rests with 36,7k base HP, meaning on par with most Cruiser Lights. Captains, you will feel getting hit in Celtic. Kit with 9.9km radar, sonar, a super heal, decent armor, excellent AA and workable concealment…captains, this is a literal no-brainer. Celtic is a slightly different twist off some of the most competitive ships in the game.
Rochester is rather tanky like most of her preceding Baltimore cousins. She has the same armor scheme essentially, and similar HP/EHP values. While this would normally be good on its own, Rochester has an Achilles’ Heel. Rochester must choose between having smoke or having a heal, and outright lacks Radar. While she has defensive AA, this is mostly a living meme rather than consistently as effective in combat as Radar. As said before, in terms of smoke cruisers there are just better options some of which don’t involve sacrificing your heal, or even radar. This relegates Rochester to just being a rather average 203mm CA, with very slightly better AA and decent enough armor.
The ranking seems a bit harsh, but that’s generally the difference between the hunter (Celtic), and the hunted (Rochester). Rochester initially will feel getting hit less, due to a larger health pool however, the table quickly swings in favor of Celtic, which gets most of it back.

Armor

This chart below sticks to the USN and RN CA/CLs for now... At some point, this chart will include overmatch and juicy other details for all the cruisers, but for now, it is simple enough to get the point across. Most Cruisers have their critical spaces directly abutting the hull, others don’t. Cruiser armor varies widely and is worth looking at because there are absolutely ships with specific advantages worth exploring and exploiting. For now, let’s keep it simple.
As summarized before, the Baltimore Class has relatively good armor, while it has its weaknesses, is generally functional enough to get by. They are neither needlessly weighed down by their armor, nor under-armored. It’s worth saying Rochester and Celtic have vaguely the same armor lay out and will handle 380mm Battleships.

Anti-Air Suite

Rochester takes the cake here, with better and larger AA guns she’s rather resistant to airborne pests. Celtic ties in with the close second, along with her sisters. The truly beautiful thing about either ship is that captains will not need to waste any energy into building this into making this sector a functional kit. Captains, you can save some defensive energy by focusing into Celtic’s Radar and by leaving Rochester in port. The magic number here is being north of that 350/s line, Azuma scrapes by with a bit of focus, where pretty much all the USN ships will laugh off aircraft. A major point of contention that is worth noting; Rochester is immune, Celtic is quite resistant to CVs, where Albemarle gets by here, and Edinburgh is rather hindered. I suspect this will be massively impactful for competitive players.

Rochester takes the cake here, because everyone deserves to be really good at something. However, with CVs it’s important to remember everything is relative.

Concealment

Technically these are the same values while stock, and their rating is the same. However, this is quite deceiving. Rochester is GOOD leaning on GREAT where Celtic is GOOD leaning on AVERAGE. The reason for this follows their available commanders, which Shelly Beapley offers a unique 4th row concealment skill unavailable to any other commander, or nation. The result of this, Rochester, like her cousins sits at a comfortable 9.3km, where Celtic sits at 9.9km. Rochester can do almost nothing with this concealment, as she lacks radar, and her smoke fire window is just a pale 1.7km below her surface concealment. However, that .6km is a palpable difference and can open huge strategic windows; particularly once south of that magic 10km line.
The obvious connotation here is that hiding a radar cruiser inside 10km is far scarier than hiding a smoke cruiser inside 9.5, provocatively when that same smoke cruiser can be spotted inside her smoke at 7.6km. Captains, this 7.6km is on par with her sisters, however, this is a very narrow margin even for a support cruiser. Smoke is infinitely easier to use than radar, however, infinitely less forgiving.

Maneuverability

Celtic sits almost smack dab of the upper midfield pack of heavy cruisers where Rochester sits more towards the end of the pack. Rochester feels clunky and handles like it, where Celtic feels more “native” to her respective class sharing the same stats. While this is rated good overall, its more average in the face of Lighter Cruisers, representing more of a bang-for-the-buck scenario.

Commanders

Celtic:
Celtic essentially has one commander that is head and shoulders ahead of the rest, while the rest kind of just work. HotRod offers the best fit here inarguably, along with Radar Edinburgh and Radar Minotaur. This sets Celtic up to be a near par build with the USN CA Queen Shelly Beapley. While her 4th row skill’s absence here is certainly felt and results in a 9.9km concealment, the build is largely similar and works well for any radar focused cruiser. While there are other builds out there, this is the gem of the lot and helps unlock that sacred mantra of utility that surrounds the Baltimore Class. Inspirations should focus on concealment, Mikawa and Swirski, to bring Celtic’s detection to pair with her Radar.
HotRod
Rochester:
Nothing can be easy with Rochester, and naturally, building her was to the same effect. Essentially there are two trains of thought for this ship, build into dispersion or build into utility.
AL Montpelier seemed to mesh the best, which then turns Rochester into a little flamethrower capable of merging all her shells into a single pixel. However, this build is rather finicky to use and has a fair number of weaknesses. The build heavily relies on team spotting and is itself a second-line cruiser. Something like a 19-20% fire chance and a nasty dispersion circle. Rochester already has excellent gunnery performance as discussed; Montpelier really sharpens the sword. Pair with AL Scharnhorst and Scott to reduce dispersion and sigma, respectively, even further.
AL Montpelier
It's a rare day when Shelly gets sat down in favor of another commander in the USN CA tree, but I kept falling into the same pitfalls using the same build for similar ships often being able to use radar. Shelly will help bring out Rochester’s utility, but she’s arguably not as well fit in on Rochester as AL Montpelier is. Pair Beapley with concealment inspirations from Mikawa and Swirski and enjoy a very beautiful 9.3km concealment. Rochester has SHAP and excellent penetration values, meaning she can readily ambush and critically strike ships quite larger than her, all without torpedoes.

Consumables

Ok, rather than spell out everything, everywhere, all at once; I’m going to keep it simple here.
Celtic:
  1. Damage Control: Standard, unlimited uses. 60s cooldown.
  2. Sonar: 3km Torp, 4.2km Ship detection. Lasts around 98s when kit with Hot Rod and reloads in 132.
  3. Radar: 9.9km range and lasts about 28s when built.
  4. Heal: 733/s over 20s. Yep, that’s over 14k HP. Reloads in less than a minute too.
Celtic has a near ideal consumable suite. There are some differences off the mainstream, such as slightly less sonar range or shorter radar duration. Glossing over the minor differences, the bigger picture reveals something better. Built, Celtic can regenerate a LOT of health.
Rochester:
  1. Damage Control: Standard, unlimited. 60s cooldown.
  2. Defensive AA: +200% average AA damage. This is memes, it's sort of like a bug zapper for planes.
  3. Sonar: Standard 3.3km/4.4km detection over 96s. The average sonar found on everything.
  4. Smoke/Heal: 30s duration, 104s dissipation time for the smoke. 251/s over 28s for the heal.
Rochester is rather standard in her access to her consumables, with the killer choice between smoke or a heal. I’ve gone back and forth, generally landing on the heal. Rochester is essentially a decent cruiser hampered by her rather average consumable suite.

Modifications

  1. Aiming Systems Mod 1: -7% Dispersion
  2. Steering Gears Mod 2: -20% Rudder Shift
  3. Concealment Mod 1: -10% Detectability
  4. Main Battery Mod 3: -15% Gun Reload
Ok, so the modifications section is super easy because both ships share the same builds. Aiming Systems mod 1 for the dispersion, player’s choice on slot 2 with either propulsion mod 2 or steering gears mod 2. Concealment Mod 1 for slot 3 and finishing off slot 4 by increasing DPM with main battery mod 3.

Summary

Celtic is a joy. Rochester is work.
I can see Celtic becoming a popular contestant in competitive play with the access to that 9.9km radar and her super heal. I rather lamented her HE performance, more due to her lower fire chance then her DPM or ballistic performance. While it would be nice to see her have ¼ pen HE, she doesn’t need it. I find her nicely balanced and well measured to take on Tier 7. She is just unique enough to warrant her own review, whilst similar enough to stay nearer the beaten path. While she may not comfortably and outright usurp Wichita CE and AL Baltimore from their spots, she’s worth mentioning with the group. That’s saying something.
Rochester, well, let’s just say that not everyone can be the best. This ship is tough but can be rewarding in a sense of overcoming the demands of a challenging ships. My issue with Rochester is 2-fold, her smoke and her heal. She ideally needs both to function in this current meta, and running the ship’s gimmick leaves her with abysmal EHP in a plummet from pretty good to 3rd worst overall, which only trumps Harbin and Bayard while being out-healed by Weimar. With a smoke-fire penalty in the mid 7’s km, smoke is hard to use effectively that is not relegated to back line, HE spam. As said before, if we’re really going to be stuck to this, there are ships which do this better. While I love the perspective of a USN CA without radar just to offer something more unique, a USN CA without Radar is like a cart without a horse. Hilariously enough, Rochester seems to avoid CV games like the actual plague, so I suppose that’s one strong point. Otherwise, and largely, captains are left with a rather average 203mm CA.

Edit: This is now the legacy method of PaleRa1n, so I do not suggest using this. I suggest you download and flash Palen1x to a USB drive instead and use that since that is far easier and less of a hassle. This legacy version probably won’t get updated so it’s better to use Palen1x.
You should use Linux Mint for this because it has most of the dependencies installed so it would take less time than something like Ubuntu.
You will need:
Apple cables that have a USB type C connecter can't enter DFU mode so they will not work.

Note: This only works on checkm8 compatible devices (A8-A11). For A10(X) and A11 devices on IOS 15, you will have to disable your passcode, and on IOS 16, you will have to never have had a passcode set. If you have set a passcode in the past, this won't work unless you factory reset your idevice. After you jailbreak, you still can’t set a passcode. This is because SEP doesn't work with this jailbreak.
You can install the FakePass tweak (Repo: https://repo.alexia.lol) after you jailbreak as a work around which allows you to set a passcode. As of now, only setting a passcode works for this tweak, but they are working on Touch ID and Face ID support.

How to install Palera1n on windows:

Step 1: Scroll to the bottom and install the Linux Mint ISO file for your your xx bit operating system from one of the mirrors on their website (https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=302)

Step 2: Setup and install Rufus (https://rufus.ie/en/) to burn the ISO file onto your USB drive. Next, Plug in your USB of choice into the computer. All data on your USB drive will be lost. On Rufus, select your USB of choice under the "Device" section and your ISO file under the "Boot section." Leave everything else as it is and press start. If it asks you what image mode to flash it in, flash it in the recommended one and click ok/accept to anything that appears.

Step 3: Shut down your computer with the USB drive in it and turn it back on. Now, many computers have different ways of booting into the USB drive. Some auto boot into it and in others, you need to enter BIOS mode manually. If your computer needs to manually enter BIOS mode, then search up the key you need to press manually to enter BIOS mode. After you know your key, press it repeatedly multiple times when your computers manufacturer's logo appears. You should be in BIOS mode now. Once you're in BIOS mode, either find your USB drive and hit enter or move your USB to the top of the list depending on how your BIOS mode works. It will then ask you how you want to start Linux. Pick the first option which is going to be "Start Linux Mint Cinnamon xx-bit."

Step 4: You should be in Linux Mint now. We need to install some stuff before we jailbreak. First, open the terminal and run this command to update everything:
sudo apt-get update 
Next, we need to install git for one of the jailbreaking commands. To install git, run:
sudo apt-get install git 
Now the last thing we need to install before running the jailbreak is pip. To install it, run this command:
sudo apt-get install python3-pip 

Step 5: Now we can start jailbreaking. Plug in your idevice and run:
sudo systemctl stop usbmuxd 
Nothing should appear in the terminal, then run:
sudo usbmuxd -f -p 
Minimize this terminal. Do not exit out of the terminal.

Step 6: Open a new terminal window by right clicking the desktop and selecting "open in terminal." In this terminal, run:
git clone --recursive https://github.com/palera1n/palera1n && cd palera1n 
This will put a folder named Palera1n on your computer.
SIDE NOTE: If you are on an A10(X) idevice, there is a fork of Palera1n called Checkp4le which allows real SEP functionality meaning that you can use stuff that uses SEP such as putting a passcode on your idevice or using Apple Pay. If you want SEP functionality and you're on a A10(X) idevice, put in this command instead of the one above:
git clone --recursive https://github.com/guacaplushy/checkp4le && cd checkp4le 
Now you can follow the next steps normally.

Step 7: After it finishes cloning the repo, you need to know if you want to use a semi tethered or tethered jailbreak. For a tethered jailbreak, you can only boot from a computer, and on a semi-tethered jailbreak, you will be able to boot up your phone without a computer, however you will need to use a computer to re-jailbreak. Semi-tethered will also take up 5-10gb of storage on your idevice, so don't use this on 16gb idevices or if you have less than 10gb free. Now, the final step to jailbreaking is running this:
 sudo ./palera1n.sh --tweaks  --semi-tethered 
If you want to run a tethered jailbreak, remove "--semi-tethered" from the command. If it asks you to install Gaster after you ran the command, then press any key to install it and it’ll run the command.

Step 8: It will now put your idevice into recovery mode. After your idevice has booted into recovery mode, get ready and press enter. Once you press enter, follow the instructions in the terminal for what buttons to press on your idevice to enter DFU mode. It will then begin the jailbreak process.

Step 9: Once phase 1 is complete, it will reboot your idevice and put it into recovery mode again. If it doesn't reboot your idevice, force restart it. Once it's in recovery mode again, get ready, press enter, and follow the instructions it gives you to enter into recovery mode again. It will then start phase 2.

Step 10: Once phase 2 is complete, you can remove your idevice from your computer. Your idevice will respring in about 30 seconds after you unlock it. Once your idevice resprings, you will see the palera1n app on your idevice. Open the app and tap install. after Palera1n installs the jailbreak and resprings, you should be jailbroken with Sileo!

Penny looked at her tablet, watching where the location beacon was saying that Equisa was. She figured that she'd let her be for a while since Equisa hadn't done anything bad yet. And also, the hivemind had a handle on her, as it had promised. Penny wasn't so sure of that, but it was out of her hands then.
But now, when she realized that Equisa was in a house with two other humans, she didn't know what to do. There were two possibilities that were immediately apparent to her. One of them was less realistic, and one was a lot more realistic. Penny decided to sit down and wait. Nilnacrawla decided to begin tutoring her on psychic energy use again.
She was becoming adept at drawing it outside herself and back in, though it wasn't enough to let her do truly incredible feats. Sure, she could stand in Earth's gravity, even as a Luna-born human. But that was more due to the hivemind than herself. She'd survived Yasihaut and would likely need to do so again. It had been made public that she'd escaped since it was too big for the Alliance to hide. She also knew that it didn't matter that 'search efforts were ongoing' when it came to FTL. And it would not be possible to get the Sprilnav to extradite one of their own even if the Alliance gifted them an entire star system.
Nilnacrawla made her practice forming a staff again out of psychic energy and would attempt to break it when he sparred with her. The practice was productive, both in helping her stay sharp and also in keeping them close. The mind bridge was an important link in their relationship, but she and he didn't want it to be the only one.
"So what do you think Equisa is doing?"
"You know very well what she's doing," Nilnacrawla said as she panted from her latest exertion. Several shattered stone statues lay around her as he helped her up with a grin. "I've seen the things your species likes, after all. Some people talk too much, and in the mindscape, I have nothing but time."
"Want to make a bet?"
"It'll be unfair," he replied.
"And do you still dislike her? I know you've been in my mind and all, so you know my thoughts. But you seem to still be mixed, and I can't tell one way or another," she said. Penny stretched her arms and legs as he stopped.
"I do not like her for many reasons. It is suspicious that she comes here and Yasihaut gets free. It is suspicious that she came close to when the Alliance annexed the Guulin, wanderers, and Knowers. And it is suspicious that she is attempting to play up her support of you, all the while only helping from the sidelines. Perhaps I am incorrect. After all, age is not wisdom; age and experience are. And I do not have experience with her. Or rather, very much."
"Do you know anything, though? On what happened after the fall?"
"Well, I think there was a war. Between the Primary Sector and the Secondary Sector, I think they were called. I'm not sure if the name's the same or who won it. But I didn't get much information from the Sprilnav that kept my secret after my physical body was killed."
"I see," Penny said. In the real world, she spotted Equisa walking out of the house.
And she's wearing new clothes, Penny observed. She really did make it, huh?
We both knew it would happen at some point, Nilnacrawla said. I'm not sure why your species is making a big deal out of the whole thing, even though so many of you actively pursue alien relationships.
We don't, really. Out of the billions of humans, only about two or three hundred million are actually in interspecies relationships. Not small, but not a gigantic part either.
Equisa's eyes turned to her, and a large grin fixed itself on her snout. Penny crossed her arms, doing her best not to laugh at her triumphant expression. One of her new companions emerged behind her, hair now tied in a ponytail. She also was smiling. Obviously, she recognized Penny. Given her public stature and Nilnacrawla's medium fame level, it made sense.
"So you did it, then?"
"No need to be a prude, Penny. Yes, we danced the dance of life. It's not like we can have children, though."
"Well, I made you dance, Equisa," the woman said slyly. "And so did Joshua. The big strong Elder, but not strong enough, were you?"
Penny sighed. "Alright. So I need to know if this thing is official and all, or whether it was just a one-time thing. Because soon, Phoebe will be calling, wondering why I'm so late bringing you to her nearest workshop."
"She already knows, Penny," Equisa said.
"Does she?"
"Yes," Phoebe said, appearing close by. Her android looked to be even more advanced this time, bearing the hallmarks of even more closely machined features. Penny hadn't even noticed her before, which was quite an impressive thing. She was wearing an orange dress that went slightly past her knees.
"And while I'm sure we're all glad you got laid for the first time in millions of years, Equisa, there is business to attend to. You wish to work for me, and I will grant your request. Penny, I want you to come with me as well, if you wish."
"Sure," Penny said.
"We will remain here, Equisa," one of her new companions asked. As they made their way to the nearest monorail terminal, Penny couldn't help but steal glances at Equisa every now and then. To be able to do what she did required a level of social skill that she hadn't expected from a Sprilnav Elder. Especially not one who seemed as airy as Equisa.
Equisa continued to grin in triumph. The crowd of people milling around the terminal quickly noticed them. Immediately, the conversations of everyone near them turned to them. They wanted to know more about Equisa, Phoebe, or Penny. Equisa started talking with them cordially, not being antagonistic in any way.
In some cases, she seemed oddly knowledgeable about human mannerisms and idioms. Penny wondered if there was some massive Sprilnav database somewhere with a copy of the internet and other human networks. Phoebe placed her hand on the ticket reader, and the screen turned green, showing a white '3' on both sides for the number of passengers. The metal railings began to slide apart, and they quickly slipped through.
On the monorail itself, Equisa continued to attract looks. The combination of being obviously alien, in addition to being a Sprilnav, simply made her too interesting to ignore. Penny had to agree that she looked out of place among the group of humans riding in the same train car as them. The skyscrapers of Luna's underground cities, majestic as ever, sailed past in the window. Many of them had been built within the past twenty years out of material that was even more resistant to quakes and lateral forces.
The Alliance had done quite a bit of work to ensure that they were accessible to alien species such as the Knowers, Guulin, and Acuarfar, who were simply much larger than others. Wider passageways and larger elevators seemed simple enough to make, but architecture quickly became complicated when dealing with so many new factors. Even just the piping systems were newly designed by Phoebe, who'd needed new low-gravity hydraulic pumps to ensure that water could reach sinks over half a kilometer up some of the taller skyscraper's floors.
"We've reached our stop," Phoebe said. The door opened, and she basically pulled Equisa along with one of her arms. Penny followed along, silently enjoying the scene. She noticed that Equisa actually tried to break free from Phoebe but couldn't. They moved away from the smaller crowd at the terminal to enter a series of much emptier tunnels.
"Can you release me? I'm not going to run off."
"Oh, I know. But just in case."
"Phoebe, there's no reason to treat me like this. Please act like a functional adult and let me go when I ask."
"Fine then," Phoebe said. "Don't blame me if you get lost, then."
"I won't get lost."
"It's a maze up here," Penny remembered. Back when she'd worked directly for Luna's government, many of the passageways had been deliberately designed to confuse newcomers so that people who weren't supposed to be there would not be able to find anything useful. Complete with fake rooms and doors that opened out into nothing, the complex was both gargantuan and confusing.
Phoebe then walked through a wall. Equisa frowned. Penny stuck her hand through the wall to find that it was a hologram. The grey material had looked incredibly real. On the other side, Phoebe was waiting for them, a smile on her face. "Are you sure you don't want me to carry you, then?"
"Well, I'm old, I have an excuse," Penny said. "Your hard light emitters should do a find job of it."
"I'd like that too," Equisa said. "I am sorry if I have offended you, Phoebe. Can you tell me what I did wrong?"
"It's not about what you did, it's about what you didn't do. Why didn't your ship detect the Sprilnav approaching the Sol system? Good people died because you did not."
"They would have found someone to kill regardless," Equisa said. A thin band of hard light wrapped around her torso. It was considerably more elaborate for Penny. Phoebe began to run, diving through false walls and passing through doors. Penny knew that there'd been an expansion based on the time it was taking her.
I wonder why she thinks this will protect her, Nilnacrawla mused in Penny's mind.
Likely because it has. I don't think Phoebe would keep this up if it was ineffective. Who knows how many Wisselen have tried to get into her things?
Probably many.
Eventually, they arrived at their destination. Phoebe pressed her android against the door. Apparently, that was enough since it slowly opened. The door was nearly seven meters thick and made a distinct whine as it slid open. Penny knew that there must have been incredible mechanisms behind its operation. A metal walkway extended into the space that had yawned open between the doors. It was supported by a hard light floor that covered the rest of the opening as well. Phoebe beckoned to them and walked across. All kinds of large devices were visible inside as lights turned on.
Hundreds of androids, construction drones, and walking drones crawled over various pieces of machinery. The sounds of welding were heard with that of metal being torn apart by something in the distance. Penny could feel some of the heat from a foundry nearby. Glowing metal was being twisted by large robotic arms aided by shields and hard light constructs.
Penny could see circuitry, machinery, and more on display. And there was likely a lot more than Phoebe was letting them see. Equisa's eyes widened slightly. "This is... actually somewhat advanced," she said.
"Surprised?"
"I am. You should be proud of your progress, AI," she said.
"Well, it makes me happy that you think so. However, I have had a lot of help from the hivemind."
"So what do you wish for me to talk with you about?"
"What do you know?" Phoebe said. "I'd like to work within fields that you have expertise in."
"I am well-educated in circuitry and electrical theory," Equisa said. "I got a full education."
"That is good to hear. I have some projects for you to help me with. If you help me complete some of them, I'll give you some large bonuses."
"You've been in the Alliance's market, then?"
"If the eyes are the window to the soul, then the market is the window to a nation's soul."
"An apt theory," Equisa replied.
"Hey, I'm not going to be useful here," Penny said. "Can you get Brey to transport me back to my home?"
"You're not going to make us explain every technical element to you?" Equisa said. "How practical."
Nilnacrawla made a suggestion to her. She agreed and decided to ask about it. Phoebe smirked at her as she scratched her head. The android had its hands on its hips while two more walked over to coat her in some sort of wrapped ribbon. It suddenly began to ooze into place, like some sort of protective gel layer. Yet another android placed a separate personal shield on Phoebe, one which only glowed a dull blue.
"Do you think I'd be able to talk with Spentha, actually?"
"Perhaps," Equisa responded. "I can ask him. There's a quantum suppression field around here, and it's quite powerful."
"I'm sure you can manage," Phoebe said. "Your whole body is operated by a quantum link as you call it."
"True. But the device back home has far more power that I do."
"Oh, I'm sure," Phoebe said. She waved away Penny. She knew that this meeting had some significance since Phoebe had likely predicted that Penny wouldn't want to remain. She'd put out enough digital information over her long life for any detailed and dedicated person to construct a social background for her.
A portal appeared next to her, one of Brey's newer types. Instead of glowing bright blue, it also brought some of the light behind. It showed an area near where Spentha's ship had landed. It was a decently sized Luna ship port, with heavy guard presence around it to account for Spentha's value. One of them looked through the portal and nodded at her.
"You did it?" she asked Equisa.
"Yes, he's agreed. Go on."
Penny exited the portal and put on an emergency space suit that fit her size. It was standard wear for those out in the docks in case the containment failed and quick actions needed to be taken to survive. Penny would return the suit when she was finished with it. She secured her helmet to her back with a small magnetic lock and stepped onto Spentha's ship.

Tetelali finished sunning himself on the surface of the Known World, also known as Teegarden B. He had fully healed all his injuries and was now working on becoming even more powerful. However, that required much more energy than before. Packing his power into his frame instead of growing was difficult enough. But doing it constantly and with enough conviction that he actually began to shrink was even harder.
A system of solar reflector arrays near the star ensured that his favorite resting place was always even more comfortable for him. While it wasn't the pure lines of impossibly thin solar energy from Brey and Sol's light, it was still more than enough. He rose, tons of snow falling from his flanks. His claws and legs snapped trees like sticks. Hundreds of them had already been leveled from his previous excursions. Deep ruts in the soil and rock marked the places that he'd dug before activating his psychic energy to move through the stone.
The humans called it stone swimming. They always had a penchant for naming things. In a way, they were why his species had needed a name again and why he'd eventually decided to change it. The old reality of the name that the Sprilnav had given the Junyli was derogatory, showing their superiority over them. And that had needed to go, so it did. Now he stood among equals, even if he was the largest in total size.
He basked in the sunlight, shaking himself so that everyone nearby would see the brilliance of his hide. He wanted to ensure that his splendor was on full display. He then dove beneath the stone, quickly moving down to the Knowers' cities. But there was a huge amount of people in their cities, not just Knowers. Tetelali was powerful enough that he could sense some of the psychic presences of many species. Most of them were human or Dreedeen.
Brey's portals were in place, and immigration had quickly been opened. Part of Dilandekar's negotiations had probably involved making an immigration agency. But there was free travel within the Alliance, at least in terms of borders. Catching a passenger ship or some monorails still required payments, often depending on the distance. While speeding space drives were highly efficient, they still required some fuel and maintenance.
Tetelali's head emerged from the wall, only to be hit in the face with a firework. He blinked in surprise, slightly dazed. It wasn't enough to hurt him after the onslaughts that he'd endured against the Wisselen. But it was still unexpected.
Below, humans were dancing to loud, bassy music with Knowers. Some were riding on their backs, hugging, or simply swaying to the tune. More of them were simply flailing about in the street, unable to properly do any dances. Tetelali resisted the urge to laugh at them. He could see that many of the city's buildings were lit with light again, a noticeable difference from the war. Dilandekar was nowhere to be seen.
He saw some faces look up at him in fear. He'd seen how some humans feared giant creatures in many of their older movies using a small sight tentacle. He was a true shapeshifter and using his powers for convenience, even as the Luminary, was an obvious benefit to them.
"Hello, everyone."
He lowered his head, shrinking it down as he withdrew his awareness. His main body, instead of shattering into shards of crystal dust, now stayed in its place like a giant statue. It already looked weathered, even though he'd taken great care to make himself look new and resplendent. His head continued to shrink and fell into an empty area. He shifted into a much smaller version of himself, now only about four times the size of a Knower.
He placed eyes on all his legs and his face, took care to ensure that he could walk, and began to move forward. He could see some Knower children gasping and pointing at him, which made him smile. Being recognized by beings that didn't have their full sentience was like a compliment from nature itself. Tetelali would be glad to take it. He made his way through the crowd, doing his best not to push anyone aside with his heavy bulk.
He soon reached the center of the city. It turned out that Dilandekar was waiting for him. He was giving a rousing speech to hundreds of thousands of gathered Knowers. He was dressed in a sort of blood-red armor, with a white cloth covering the inside of it and masking his black fur. It ran down to his claws and up to his skull, which had been marked with red as his psychic power continued to come into its prime.
Dilandekar stood at the head of what Tetelali assumed were ordinary Researchers, dressed less finely and looking much more like politicians.
"-Since this day, we are now people of the Alliance! We are one with our allies, one with our friends, and yes, one with our new found families!"
Cheers echoed across the cavern in response.
"But as we celebrate and revel in our victory, we must also remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice! 570 million Knowers dead, and four hundred thousand of our brave Alliance brothers and sisters! Today, our hearts are not only soaring with joy, but bound by grief. Many of us have lost friends, family, and more. Some lost their homes, their entire ways of life. Entire cities were razed to the ground, or defiled so thoroughly with blood that removing it would be a desecration of a million corpses."
Dilandekar placed one of his paws on his chest for a minute, looking down at the ground. Many Knowers did the same.
"May our brethren be brought to the very Gates of Paradise, and may their search for knowledge finally be at an end! May their souls reach such transcendant joy that eternal streams of tears fall from their faces! May they look down upon us, all Knowers of all nations and creeds, and be proud! We are no longer a fractured race, at war with themselves! We are free! We are united! We are stronger than ever before!"
More raucous cheers met Dilandekar's passionate gaze. Tetelali was surprised at how good he was at rousing the crowd. It was the mark of someone who was in tune with his supporters at far more than simply the surface level.
"After a long day of deliberations, I have an announcement! I'm going to spearhead a new program meant to lift all Knowers out of poverty, house every single one of us with room to spare, and provide the education our young need to succeed not only within our grand society but also abroad! For the Alliance has opened its doors to us! And we will open our hearts, our souls, and our halls to those who sacrificed so many to save us!
Everyone will be allowed to remain in their current houses, as all the new ones will be built higher up the walls, with the accompanying infrastructure to spare. The Alliance's richest corporations, along with many of its nations and individuals, have decided to place their funds into rebuilding and upgrading everything that was lost! To say that it will all be their responsibility is an understatement. This Teegarden Plan will employ every single Knower that has lost their job with enough money for food, water, and amenities!"
This brought even more cheers. Tetelali noticed that many of the Knowers had been worried about how they would fare in the aftermath of the war. For the Alliance to invest in them was likely not only a grand strategic move but also one of kinship. The Knowers were part of the Alliance now, and they would be treated as such. The Teegarden Plan was meant to foster a close economic link, a strong national companionship, and soothe the ailing and grieving Knowers who had lost so many people.
Dilandekar began again.
"The High Researchers have held a vote. In that vote, it was decided that I was to be given a new position. While I do not think that I deserve such an honor, they did not feel the same. Earlier this morning, I have been granted the title of World Researcher. For this, I am very grateful. I will make no changes to how our government is currently structured, as I am not a dictator. If you, Knowers, wish for me to leave my rule, I will do so! Now, do you have faith in me? Do you have faith in the future? Do you have what it takes to show the galaxy that they came to the wrong planet and that they will regret their mistake?"
"YES!"
"Then go, my people. Celebrate our victory, for it was dearly won and the greatest in Knower history! Today, you are the ones who I honor! All of you who fought for me, those who died for me, and more! I am here for you!"
Dilandekar bowed his head to them, this time lowering it to the ground in a gesture of submission. The cheering of the crowd built into a constant roar that rattled Tetelali's teeth for almost six minutes before it came to an end. The High Researcher, or World Researcher as he was now apparently known, walked down from the stage he stood on and into the crowd.
Tetelali made his way over to him, careful not to harm anyone. The crowd parted to let him reach Dilandekar, though he had to make himself longer to take up less of the street. The Luminary came face to face with Dilandekar, who simply stood there. He slowly approached Tetelali and hugged one of his legs, tears streaming down his face.
"It's done," he heard Dilandekar say softly. "We... survived it."
"Yes, you did," Tetelali replied, gently reaching down with dull claws to stroke Dilandekar's back compassionately. He didn't care about the eyes of thousands upon him as he did. Dilandekar had done an incredible feat, and Tetelali was happy to be a shoulder for him to cry on. For he had many things to weep for.
