2023.05.28 20:33 MechanicFun4940 Does dropping a masters degree affect admission into a new undergraduate program?

I just finished my second semester in my Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN program. I work full time as an RN and go to school part time online. Long story short, in addition to the many criticisms I have of the quality of education I am paying for, I do not envision myself working as an NP in 5 years. I would like to drop the courses and withdraw from the program. I like working as a nurse and the money and job opportunity is good, but I have always wanted to go back to school to pursue mechanical engineering. My question is: If I drop out of my masters degree and apply to obtain a bachelors of engineering degree in the future, is there a likelihood of me being denied entry due to not finishing my current degree, or will it not matter? I feel like a school might see me as just quitter but I may be overthinking things. I only ask because I have brought up the prospect of simply quitting my current degree to multiple people and they say I will be ruining future job opportunities, as you can tell I am very inexperienced with the whole admission process and would appreciate some guidance.

2023.05.28 20:21 thinkjosephthink [IWantOut] 28M Turkish Mechanical Engineer -> Europe

Hey, my name is Yusuf. I am 28 years old guy from Türkiye. The latest news in my country showed me that there's no future in here for me.
✓ I am C1/C2 in English. I've had a lot of practice in my job. I am speaking English nearly every day in my job and with my online friends.
✓I am a mechanical engineer who is working as a production engineer in a glass processing factory. I have a total of one year experience in this field. I am responsible for 3 different machines maintaining them and teaching new operators. I have made some calculations and lowered the consumption in one of the lines which has increased our profit from it.
✓I would like to work as an engineer if it's at all possible. İf not I would prefer something I will be in constant motion or active.
✓I would like to go somewhere where I can communicate in English. The weather doesn't matter that much but I will prefer people not too racist again Turk's.

2023.05.28 20:20 HonorBasquiat Prediction: The showcase frames from March of the Machine hint that sometime in the next two years there will be new releases set on Ravnica and Tarkir

The March of the Machine and Multiverse Legends showcase frames pay homage to past booster fun releases associated with their corresponding plane and previous set releases.
The showcase legends from Ravnica (Aurelia, the Warleader, Judith, the Scourge Diva, Juri, Master of the Revue, Niv-Mizzet, Reborn, Teysa Karlov, ) and Tarkir (Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and Taigam, Ojutai Master) introduce new variant frames we haven't seen before.
I'm skeptical that Wizards of the Coast would spend the time and energy to create new frames solely for a handful of cards variant promos. Considering Wizards of the Coast tends to work at least 2-3 years ahead of the scheduled releases that we see, I believe we can interpret these frames as hints of what is to come in the near future.
We are long overdue for a return to Tarkir (it's been nearly a decade since the release of Khans of Tarkir) and by the time it's 2024, it will be 5 years since we've had a set on Ravnica (Dominaria and Eldraine returns were scheduled in a shorter time frame).
I believe that there are already new cards being worked on internally that will use these frames for planned Tarkir and Ravnica sets. I anticipate we'll see returns to these sets sometime in the years 2024 and 2025. I also believe the player reception to the frames on these cards could influence if they are tweaked or modified at all.
Additionally, I believe the upcoming The Lost Caverns of Ixalan set (scheduled for release later this year in Q4) will use the new showcase frame from March of the Machine (i.e. Captain Lannery Storm, Ghalta and Mavren). My understanding is this has been confirmed by Wizards already.
Here are some questions to consider for discussion:
  1. Do you expect Magic will return to Tarkir and/or Ravnica sometime in the next two years or so? Why or why not?
  2. What do you think of the showcase frames for Tarkir and Ravnica in the March of the Machine set?
  3. If we were to return to Ravnica in a future set, what would you like in that set (i.e. characters, mechanics, lore points, tropes)?
  4. If we were to return to Tarkir in a future set, what would you like in that set (i.e. characters, mechanics, lore points, tropes)?
Note: This post is a crosspost from the official Magic subreddit from a few months ago.

2023.05.28 20:15 Safe-Complex-5463 Biology graduate to software engineer advice?

So I’ll be graduating in biology this winter in the UK. I’m looking to go into software engineering (not front-end). I took modules on programming in Python and R, and I’ve also learned some Python away from this. I’m also currently learning Java. I have a few project ideas so I’ll look to making these. What could I do to have a good standing and a chance as a software engineer without a CS degree? What would you recommend that I spend my time on right now?
I’ll be applying for graduate schemes starting next year as well. It would be great to do a masters next year, I know it would be worth it but the cost is drawback right now. Any advice?

2023.05.28 20:06 daBigBaboo Veteran Guide Hub (Emperor +)

Hi all,
So like many of you I've been playing civ 4 off and on for more years than I care to remember.
Civ 4 is the best Civ because of its hidden depth - truly a game that is relatively easy to pick up but difficult to master.
Without referring to the community for help, "getting good" at Emporer + is pretty impenetrable for people both new and returning to civ 4. In the time since its release the meta consensus on how to play effectively on higher difficulty levels has changed and developed substantially over time. What guides that exist and are still relevant and effective for modern play, have become somewhat fragmented and decentralised and thus obscured to those not in the know. And even where there are effective guides that are still applicable and accessible, they have often been compromised by time - Seraiel's civ illustrated guides, for example, provides case studies that have loads of good food for thought... or rather as they would but since the case study models relies on screen shots that now return a 404, the usefulness of the guide has been compromised.
I myself found it off-putting trying to get relevant info to refamiliarise myself with the games deeper mechanics and strategy needed to bring myself up to speed before I took a crack at Emporer.
That is why I thought it might be an idea to create a one-stop hub with a 'living list' of guides that the community feels are still effective and relevant, on one centralised post, that new and returning players could refer to to help them get the info they need to succeed at the higher difficulty levels.
If people are on board with the idea, and have any suggestions they want to post in comments below, happy to check in occasionally and re-edit this post in a single list for the community.
With the communitys support... Maybe the future really will be better tomorrow? Lol 🖖

2023.05.28 20:02 deMaker02 Help with accommodation as a first timer in Switzerland

I am currently in my 5th year in a masters programme in Environnemental engineering and I have intentions of moving to Switzerland for another related degree. I just wanted to know how the accommodation situation is over there coz I really don't have anyone in Switzerland that can help me with that. Firstly is it advisable to find accommodation (WG) before arriving or a temporal solution like a hotel or airbnb better for the first few weeks or so? Secondly, how difficult is it to find suitable accommodation around the 500 to 800 CHF price range? I looked at some online accommodations and appartments around central Zürich or Basel are around 2000 CHF a month (which is kinda a lot for me)

2023.05.28 20:02 khoafraelich789 What Is Piston Compression Height, and Why Is It Important?

What Is Piston Compression Height, and Why Is It Important?

https://preview.redd.it/6cz7x4zqjc1b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=afeb4fc742d25a0fe107bae737b93fc7d1923b77
If you’re a car enthusiast, you know that the intricacies of auto parts can be daunting and regular maintenance is necessary. With the market becoming more streamlined over the years, finding the correct parts for your model is still challenging. For example, one part is piston compression height, and understanding it is essential for ensuring optimal engine performance.

What is piston compression height?

Piston compression height is the distance between the centerline of the piston pin and the top of the piston crown (or dome). This measurement plays a vital role in determining which type of piston you need for your engine.

More specifically, if your pistons are too short or too long compared to what your engine requires, you won’t get optimal performance out of your vehicle. To ensure that all four pistons provide equal combustion pressure throughout each cylinder head, they must all have the same compression height.

How to calculate it

Calculating piston compression height is relatively straightforward. You can use a simple formula to determine your piston compression height, including your block’s deck height, the length of your connecting rods, and your crank stroke.

MotorTrend provided an example of how to get the most accurate calculations: “Assume you have a block with a 9.00-inch deck height, 6.000-inch connecting rods, and a stroke of 3.75 inches. First, divide the stroke by two and add that to the rod length: 3.75 / 2 = 1.875, and 1.875 + 6.00 = 7.875. Next, subtract that answer from the deck height: 9.00 7.875 = 1.125. So, the answer is that the piston compression height should be 1.125 inches.” If you want the piston to be 0.010 above or below the deck, all you need to do is add or subtract that amount from the compression height.

You can also use an online calculator, like this one from United Engine & Machines.

Why do people get confused by the term “compression height”?

Many people tend to get confused when they hear “compression height,” as this terminology suggests something related to compression ratio. However, these two concepts have nothing to do with one another. Diamond Racing Pistons even mentions that this term shouldn’t be applied to piston terminology at all except for the fact that it relates to the volume of the piston crown surface.

While some engines may require higher-than-normal compressions ratios to reach maximum efficiency levels, this does not affect piston compression height nor alter its importance for achieving optimal engine performance.

The bottom line
Understanding piston compression height and how it affects engine performance is essential to ensure that all four cylinders generate equal combustion pressure throughout each cylinder head. The good news is that calculating this measurement is pretty easy, and various tools can help you. If you need any additional auto maintenance advice, contact your local mechanic for more information.

2023.05.28 20:00 agentbush007 Should I continue onto BS Applied Math or just go for BS Computer Science

My 1st year as a Mechanical Engineer is about to end and I really want to shift. My grades aren't failing, I just want a different path.
I'm planning to shift to Applied Math and study useful programming skills and languages on my own then hopefully go for internship in the summer to build a good resume and portfolio once I graduate. Also, take the elective on finance and statistics. I'm one of the best in my class and I'm really passionate about studying so I think I have what it takes.
I heard that Applied Math is closest to Computer Science and overlaps considerably and Applied Math in my universities curriculum has programming in it. I'm wondering if majoring in Applied Math is worth it and does it have other job prospects that Computer Science does not have?
I like math and I think my analytical skills will improve greatly if I succeed in this. I heard that undergraduates in applied math are favored if they have the necessary programming skills because of something to do with how their classes are naturally hard and how there is relatively less people who take Applied Math.

2023.05.28 19:58 cubeheadedcheese Presidential Scholarship

Hi all, my friend told me that undergrad presidential scholarships last 5 years, which would make a huge difference for me financially in terms of my 5th year at GW for grad school. Does anyone know for certain if:
1) the scholarships do in fact carry into a 5th year masters program
2) where to find that information in writing
I can’t even find my original award offer letter on banweb - it says “no outside resource info available for you at this time”

For context, I will soon graduate and have a career interest in material science and engineering and want to go abroad by next year for my masters ( Before making this decision I landed a job and an interview for another; both job positions got revoked for reason I don't know and these circumstances made me consider moving abroad asap). 2023.05.28 19:38 Operation_Past Should I stick with Unity I’m familiar with, or try RPG Maker MZ?

So, I’ve had a some experience with unity in the past. Enough to theoretically make a full fledged (smaller, not that noteworthy) indie game… with enough time and patience.
I’ve mostly focused on the 3d scene, and am very comfortable with the Unity environment, and am loosely familiar with the 2d stuff.
With that being said, it has been at least a year or two since I’ve done any game development, and would need to plan on a respectable amount of time to retrain myself.
(Like, I wouldn’t need to learn everything from scratch again, I remember how to do a lot of things, a lot of the core concepts at least… but I do need to remind myself of the numerous nuances to the coding language. Reminding myself exactly what characters, words, or codes are used for specific things.)
However, this is about all the experience I have.
While I’ve been able to create most to all assets for my hobbyist games, from music to sound effects, 2d/3d art (mostly pixel or blender), to various user interfaces, and other misc. game mechanics…
I’ve never been all that “great” at creating all of these various assets and systems.
The reason this is relevant, is because I’ve recently played a game made using rpg maker MZ, and felt inspired to try something similar.
I have a rouge adventure game idea in mind, one that’d encompass a relatively large story line with various choose your own adventure systems in place.
But the “combat” mechanic is fairly unique, and I’d like to try a much simpler dungeon crawler just to see if this is something I really want to pursue, or not… and to more quickly and easily test out different combat mechanic concepts.
Anyway…
I’m uncertain if it makes more sense to go with Unity, since I could do just about anything with it… including creating game systems that may not be directly replicable in RPG Maker, such as a unique combat style that doesn’t fit the feel of a traditional jrpg…
Or, if I should choose to learn an entire new game engine (paying for it if I like the demo well enough), in order to skip the phase of “starting from scratch.”
The main pros to Unity, are that I’m already loosely familiar with the system, and it’d mostly be learning to retrain myself riding a bike. I can create a more intricate combat system that better fits the style of game I want, and it’s far more versatile. But, I would have to start from a blank slate, am not too familiar with creating extravagant systems (UI, save system management, etc.)
The pros for RPG Maker are that I don’t need to start from a blank slate, I hear it’s extremely easy to get into, it’s very easy to not have to create lots of the nuances that come with every game, I hear that the art creation is much easier, I can make use of other assets like animation, music, and sound effects.
The default UI and controls are much cleaner than what I can probably replicate in Unity (without investing significant time tweaking everything.), not to mention that I’m also not super familiar with creating an effective “event system” in Unity. It’s mostly just been dramatic switch between game scenes, and throw the player right into action. The few “events” I’ve had are very simplistic camera movements that don’t even feel “right”.
And much more… but I have zero experience with the game engine, and much prefer the idea that I don’t have to learn anything from scratch.
Tl;dr So, I guess the question is, should I try and learn everything from scratch, or build everything from scratch?

2023.05.28 19:14 skateawho Our 1940's house of 5 months is crumbling (TLDR at the bottom)

Hi all,
We bought a house in the Midwest November of 2022 and moved in on January 1st, 2023. About a month ago, we've noticed a putrid, mildew smell in our bedroom as our days get warmer, meaning we had only lived here 4-5 months at the time. Absolutely unnoticeable prior to the first few days of warm days in Spring.
I wrote it off as a few people, one being a toddler, sleeping in a closed room in our new humid environment that is the Midwest. It got so bad one day, I had to investigate. I go in our half finished basement (the unfinished other side has a sealed slab and exposed but waterproofed cinder walls) and I peek into a vent on our only false basement wall covered in painted and trimmed beadboard. I assumed it was a circulation vent that linked our basement to our bedroom directly upstairs but what I found instead was a very dark, very damp, very unfinished basement spanning the lenght of the front of our home by maybe 2' in. I stick my hand in and take pictures with my phones flash in all directions. I see a hole on the bottom of the wall I could crawl into and a horizontal crack maybe 6 feet wide - the gap between maybe half an inch. It wasn't until yesterday I found out it's not just separating up and down but also forward about a half and inch to an inch.
I had someone come out from a very reputable company to give me a quote yesterday and though he was kind and educational, after his hour long powerpoint and inspection, gave me an estimate of $32,000 which is discounted down from around $45,000, but I'd have to commit before this Monday. I'm not going to do that.
As per our inspection prior to home purchase, the basement seemed structurally sound. Other than average moisture in our exposed basement walls and minute cracks on the exterior which we were told were fine and to just caulk eventually, all looked good. Looking yesterday, our inspection does list in the foundation section, it was a "visible-only" inspection, we weren't given any other options. A more thorough inspection was never brought up to be something we could purchase. Might I add, it's two wood screws to peek through our false wall into the flawed basement but it's 8 screws to remove the face plates from our two electrical panels, which were inspected thoroughly. I've put a humidity reader on the vent that leads to our flawed basement partition and it easily reads 20% higher than the rest of the basement, this wasn't caught. On their website it says a full inspection is expected. When the more serious findings were brought up to our realtor then, (i.e. a powerline had slack and was slightly sitting on our deck), he told us, "consider this just a manual to your house" and that nothing seemed too serious. Additional note, we did this inspection while I was across the country where we moved from.
So, we agreed to our inspection as they said all looked good. Moisture is average, we can call the electrical company and get the wire slack fixed, probably for free. Why not accept? We were then sent a few more forms including one that stated the prior owners of two years had no knowledge of foundation issues. I personally find hard to believe as the smell in theiour bedroom is almost unbarable in weather warmer than 70°+. I'm not an engineer but I don't think a home can shift two axis, to that extent in 6 months. This has also been one of the most dry and warm winters our city has had in years so to say ground water surrounding our foundation caused that much damage in such a short time is also fairly unrealistic in my mind.
I haven't sent this information and quote to our home insurance company, and though I will, I can't imagine it being covered.
All being said, I feel like there was a lot of information withheld from us to make this sell. The prior sellers were supposed to stay until we moved in, it was talked about with our realtor via both parties up until we received a signable form later in the purchasing process that claimed this was no longer the situation. They had a few days old baby and we agreed they could stay to take their time as we couldn't make it there any earlier than the date we verbally agreed to prior. I'm sure this happens a lot in home purchase agreements but it does certainly add to my suspision. We too have a child of 19 months and I now feel insecure living in our new home of less than half a year as all was said to be fine.
Am i being too emotional in this situation? Is anyone BUT me liable in this situation? We're in the state of Ohio and I know laws differ from state to state. Any questions will be answered!
TLDR: We've been in a house for less than 6 months and found out our house has major foundation issues via strong mildew smell in our bedroom above, not found in our inspection. Previous owners claimed they had no knowledge of foundation issues, but it's unlikely these issues happened in the last 6 months, let alone a years time. We weren't aware of any in-depth inspection as it wasn't offered to us. Our basement walls were considered of safe moisture but all four walls read 95%+ per our foundation consultation yesterday, May 27th, 2023. We were quoted just over $32,000 to fix our situation - about a 1/5th what we paid for this move-in ready house.

My ‘04 Forester!
Bought with 170k miles for $2400 from PDX OR when I lived an hour south of there a few years back. Has been my daily driver ever since 2019. Has had a head gasket repair and has been running smoothly up until recently. It’s now leaking some oil and randomly at idle the engine shuts off at red lights, but not the battery. Getting her looked at this week by a local Soobie mechanic. What do y’all think she’s worth? No underbody rust at all new(er) parts, and has been taken cared for. Rebuilt title from a rear end before I bought her, but hasn’t caused a problem ever. Named her Fiona (after Shrek ofc) I’ll update pics after a good deep clean and a diagnosis from the mechanic soon!

2023.05.28 18:49 Zkoondawg AITA for asking my mom to stop hurting my feelings in a way that makes her feel bad?

Trigger Warning: suicide Lots of context for this one, this first paragraph can be skipped as it just adds context to the current situation. All throughout my childhood I’ve never felt like I’ve had a voice, anything I said or did that wasn’t aligned with what my parents wished was because I was purposefully rebelling (since about 7th grade when I got my first C), I had major depression and immensely low self-esteem pretty much my entire life until recently (I’m 22 now). I graduated high in my highschool class with honors because it’s what they wanted. I went to a school 600 miles away out of state for a major I was passively interested in because it’s what they wanted. After Covid hit I came back home and barely passed my classes that semester (2nd semester overall) because of recurring depression and what was going on in the world, not to mention how thrown-together learning online was at the time. I was blamed heavily for that and was told I was lazy and if I wanted to be successful I’d pull myself up by my bootstraps, that kind of thing. After going back to school in person for a third semester about halfway through my cousin committed suicide (something I was considering at the time) and it broke me. I stopped going to class, barely went to work, and pretty much just sat in my room staring at my ceiling until I had enough and came home, dropping out. My parents were somewhat understanding but after telling them I didn’t like my major (aerospace engineering) they told me that I could go to a local school for a different major (they suggested mechanical engineering, something I still had no interest in). Around this time I saw a therapist that had convinced me my mom is a narcissist, I ended up moving out and going no contact for about a year, ended up homeless, then about a month and a half into living in my car I got into an accident and totaled it. I had no one to call except my parents and my dad came and got me. I had said some pretty awful shit to my mom in that year so it was extremely awkward, at that time I was pretty deep into what I think was a psychosis so when we got home, I argued with my mom and asked to just stay until I can move out again, hoping it would just be a couple weeks. They told me I could sleep in the garage on an air mattress and about an hour into moving what I had in there I broke down and started tying a noose. I called 911 so I could go to a mental hospital to get away. I stayed at one for a few days before coming back, my parents were mortified at what happened and promised to be more conscientious of my mental health and were sorry for not noticing my depression sooner (I had told them multiple times I was depressed to which they told me to just come out of my room and hang out with them). They eventually got me a job with them and I’m saving up to get a car and be financially independent again.
Ever since I moved back in with my parents my mom has been making passive aggressive comments about anything she disproves of (for those who didn’t read the first paragraph I’m 22 and pay my own bills, living with my parents until I can afford a car and move out for the second and hopefully final time). These comments are mainly focused around 3 things: me playing video games, me ordering things on Amazon, and me not hanging out with them enough. For example I go and make my dinner and then bring it into my room to eat so I can watch what I want to watch and on my way she’ll blurt out “it’d be great if you would not go into your cave and pretend you like your family.” I usually just brush these comments off, but yesterday I had enough.
We’re on vacation with some family friends and we had spent the last few days hanging out with them basically all the time, I told her I didn’t want to hangout that night and just relax in the hotel. She seemingly didn’t have a problem with that and on the way to dropping me off at the hotel I apologized and said my social battery was low, she said “yeah I’m sure holing up in your room playing videogames all day keeps you from socializing in the real world too much” this got under my skin as I have a full time physically intensive job and like to do what I want when I get home, whether she approves or not.
I told her in a sarcastic way “yeah that’s how that works, you sitting on the couch and watching tv all day is super different.” She took great offense to this and asked why I was being so mean to her and why I felt like I had to defend myself against her when she loved me so much. I told her because she was hurting my feelings and could communicate her opinion in a more constructive way rather than making passive aggressive comments. She got super pissed and that’s when we got to the hotel and she told me to get out. Later that night her and my dad came back and I asked if she wanted to talk about what happened. She basically told me she’s always the villain and it’s always about my feelings and not hers. I make her invalid and that since she’s my mom it’s ridiculous to ask her to not say something when she’s worried about me. I told her that I felt the same way about always being villainess and that if she wanted to talk to me about something like that there’s far better ways to do it than hurting each others feelings through passive aggressive comments. I recommended we should go to therapy and she blamed me for why we haven’t gone already. I again said that it’s up to her, I’m trying to save up for a car and can’t afford that right now, she’ll have to make the appointment and pay for it.
The whole situation makes me feel conflicted because my parents don’t seem interested in compromising to make our relationship work, but I love them both so much and don’t know what to do to not be miserable. Both my mom and my dad agree that I cause most of the problems and they’re just worried about me. Am I the asshole here and exaggerating like they tell me?

2023.05.28 17:58 Da_boss_babie360 Take a chance on a rising junior looking at engineering in a T20 school. Specifically UCLA, Berkely, and possiblely Ivy and Ivy+???

Intro, you can skip this part.
IWas wondering if y'all had any advice to improve, and overall just what your thoughts are on me!
I'll be putting my projected GPA for 11th and 12th grade, and will be going more conservative in that regard. So I'm going to assume B's in smth like AP Lang or French IV, for example.
So the website I'm using is "https://gpacalculator.net/high-school-gpa-calculato" to calculate my unweighted and weighted gpa. Each semester represents a year. And yes, I'm expecting 12th grade to have such high gpa, since it's all gonna be lab sciences (except for 1 which is an advanced humanities course, i put a B+ for that once even though it's prob an easy A, incase it's a hard class)
I believe for an A+ the calculator gives 4.33, and for honors courses it gives +.5 instead of +1. Whatever tho.
Gender: Male
Race: Indian
School: competitive to highly competitive private school
State: CA
Income: Enough where I won't be taking any loans or don't need any financial aid. Upper-middle to upper-bracket
Intended Major(s): Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Comp Sci, etc. (I initially was deciding between med and comp sci, but i kinda vibing with comp sci more both personally and in aptitude, etc.)
SAT: I'm taking it next year junior year. 1480 on PSAT (750 M / 730 EW). Based on practice tests on SAT, planning to hit on the 1550-1600 ballpark
UW/W GPA and Rank: (No rank at my school)
Year 1 : 4.08/3.46 (Bad year lol)
Year 2: 4.42/3.67 (Bit better this year, humanities subjects are challenging, but the trend is upwards :) )
Year 3: 4.58/3.83
Year 4: 5.08/4.08 (All weighted college level courses)
Cumulative: 4.54/3.76
(Our GPA is actually pretty deflated. Our teachers are hard - the 11th graders only have 1 person who has a 4.0 UW GPA..., idk about my grade but I believe no one has)
Coursework: 9 Honors, (Counting Phys C as 1 course:) 10 AP Courses, 6 Post-AP courses (Multivar, Linear Algebra, Data Structures and Algorithms, some english thing idk, Modern Physics, )
AP Tests: (15 total tests) (ten 5's, four 4's, and a 3)
APCSA - 5, AP US Gov - 4
Projected Test Scores for courses I took this year: AP Bio - 5, AP Phys 1 - 5, APUSH - 4, AP CSP - 5, AP Calc AB - 5 and possibly a perfect score ngl.
Projected Test Scores for next 2 years: AP Phys 2 - 5, AP Phys C MEM - 5 & 5, AP World - 3, AP Stats - 5, AP Lang - 4, AP Calc BC - 5, AP Chem - 4
Awards (* Projected Awards): Don't wanna doxx myself so ima be vague
Oracle Certified Associate for Java, and Oracle Certified Programmer I (II this summer)Dell Boomi Certified too (this summer)
* USAPhO Silver at least, if not Gold
* National Merit (Have to wait till junior year)
* Grade 8 ABRSM, probably DipAB after
School Grand Integrator (Calc AB division)
* School Grand Integrator (Calc BC division)
(Graduated Kumon in 8th grade? Prob not gonna put this, but I consistently got rank <50. I mean idk if thats good tbh but hey its something)
[Probably will have more awards like other physics competitions, hackathons, etc. This is all I can think of right now, though]
ECs (* Projected ECs):
Martial Arts for about 10 years. Fully recreational. Competitions not allowed and discouraged in my martial arts school (* belt before black by application season)
Paid intern at internationally recognized software company and will work on cool stuff that will be implemented in medical companies and hospitals
Essentially started my school student council, led it for the past 2 years, definitely gonna hold the spot for the next cycles. - Organized lots of events, and working to spread us on a more inter-school level. (Spent over 15 thousand dollars for school events and such)
Started the STEM Tutoring Club. Regularly lead and teach there
* Starting an organization for student-student teaching.
* Also starting an organization for students to more easily volunteer for the community, making volunteering more accessible
< ^ Definitely going to continue these orgs even after high school>
* Research Paper on taking an IB final project topic from 2009-2010 that was used as our AP Calc Final Project, and expanding it using software to simulate stuff. Very cool. Teacher connecting me to researchers interested... o.o. Writing a paper on it.
Do cool hardware/software project and will write a paper on it. I don't really want to say too much on that, but it'll be hella cool.
Hooks: Anti-hook - I'm indian.
LOR:
- Old Math Teacher and future physics wrote a killer one (I heard) for my internship. Can expect same for college ones
- Current Math Teacher taught for longer than my life, 3 times over, and said I was one of her brightest students. She gave a great one apperantly for internship as well.
- One of our admins who heads Clubs and Activities is a very holistic person, and I can confidently say the letter she can write to colleges (like she already did, again, to the internship) will be comprehensive and detailed. Very assured she'll write great things for college.
- I also have an interesting relationship with my english teacher. Taught me since 7th garde, knows how I've grown in an area I'm pretty bad in. And he's an english teacher. Probably will be a good one.
Chancing LORs aren't rlly reliable tho, so i'll give my chancing for LOR as "above average"
List: T25, Georgia Tech as an out-of-state, UC Berkely/LA, yk the usual. UCLA would be pretty fun to get into. UT Austin is also on the table definitely since I like the place.
Idk I don't like spending my life running on the tails of colleges, I want to develop as a person and have a strong connection with my fam. So I probably won't do crazy things that take too much of my time. Most of my effort is gonna be martial arts, the fam, and my own personal growth.
Essays: Probably will write em well. I have some unique ideas with my crazy life experiences lol. Drafted some and have good feedback.

2023.05.28 17:53 Ellivek 2005 CRDi Transmission question

Hi everyone. I have a 2005 Tucson 2.0 CRDi 4WD. It uses the D4EA engine. Does anyone know if it uses the same transmission as the other Tucson (LX, GLS, GL,)of the same yeaother years? My Mechanic says it does but I want to be sure. My transmission went today and I'm trying to source an overhaul kit for it. Where would be the best place to start looking for a kit for these older vehicles? Thanks.
