2023.06.03 07:42 JicamaWitty6129 I think my roommate may have BED..
I have BED.. have been struggling the past few years. Moved to a new city a month ago and have since miraculously changed my habits and feel so much better, but I’ve noticed some signs in my roommate like hearing her out in the kitchen at 1am or seeing her constantly ordering in food…
I feel bad because I’ve been there but also I know how delicate the topic is. Maybe she doesn’t even have BED. I don’t know. She has gained significant weight over the past 4 years.
What would you do? Mind your own business?

2023.06.03 07:40 WesternWorldly6943 M-19 about my situationship with F-18
So, there's this girl from my college/school who followed me on Instagram three months ago. She told me that she saw me hanging out in the canteen and found me attractive. We met once and it went well, but after that, I distanced myself from her because I wasn't in the right mindset to get involved with someone again. I had a terrible experience before we met. She came to my city and called me, but I didn't meet up with her. Despite my behavior, she continued to drop obvious hints, but I refused to engage. Now that I've healed, I genuinely want to make things right, but I don't think she's interested in me anymore. I regret not appreciating someone who admired me, and I want to rectify my mistake. I'm not looking for a relationship, but I want to give her the respect she deserves. Any suggestions?

2023.06.03 07:40 Awesome_Aasim A typical modernized crosswalk in walkable downtowns in North America - Glen Cove, NY
| It is quite interesting that a lot of the design features most drivers and pedestrians do not think about. But these subtle design changes make big differences in pedestrian safety and comfort crossing the street. One issue of course is that many North American cities would like to install proper raised crosswalks and continuous sidewalks in their downtowns to boost pedestrian safety. Of course such stuff is quite expensive, and most car centric places can't afford it right away; and even if the place is not car centric, if the street was recently resurfaced, it might be seen as an unnecessary waste of money to scrap and entirely redesign the street surface again. So instead, we get designs like this: A crosswalk with the same design pattern as the sidewalk. No, the crosswalk is not raised up to the sidewalk level, but yes, the crosswalk has a similar tiling to the surrounding sidewalk space. In fact, just seeing the image right now the crosswalk is only ever so slightly raised up. This gives the impression that yes drivers are crossing a space for pedestrians, but pedestrians still have to step down to the level of the street in order to cross, giving a slight impression that they are crossing a space for motor vehicles. It is also a good thing drivers don't speed here because Glen Cove Road/Pratt Boulevard is a thing - and it is an actual road for most of the route between Northern Boulevard and School Street (this particular street). When driving here it feels right to drive slow; the curb extensions, the parking, the trees, and the sidewalk all communicate low speeds without the need to put a speed limit sign every few blocks. This change on this particular street is new, Google Street View shows it going to 2021, 2020 and earlier it was just painted lines. The street might have been chip-sealed, not entirely replaced, but like most cities with sprawling car infrastructure, it might have not been able to afford properly repaving the street. My guess is when the funds do come from more financially productive uses, as well as local and state funds, the entire street might become a speed table, like what happened in my former hometown of Walnut Creek, where the patterned crosswalk design at street level was replaced with a raised crossing before this street was closed entirely to vehicular traffic in late 2021. Although infuriatingly, a nearby crossing (in Walnut Creek) still has a rapid flashing beacon because some North American traffic engineers believe that pedestrian visibility is the issue. Hope when a raised crosswalk gets installed at that location the rapid flashing beacon becomes unnecessary and can be removed. It's once again interesting to see an urban planner's and traffic engineer's priorities by seeing what designs they do and do not use. In this case, I think the planner wanted to give the impression that drivers are crossing a space for pedestrians, but did not have the appropriate funds to do that because the city, like many North American cities, is broke. So they did the next best thing - use a colored surface and cut patterns identical to sidewalk to give that impression, but failing to slow down drivers who don't notice. Or they would just dump some asphalt down, put in a speed bump, and now it is still obvious a pedestrian is crossing a space for cars, even though cars are physically slowed by the bump. But either of these designs is better than just striking down painted lines. I am at least glad that some North American cities are doing their best to move away from unsustainable developments and to focus on walkability, since everyone, no matter what mode they choose, is a pedestrian for the last mile. submitted by Awesome_Aasim to notjustbikes [link] [comments] |

2023.06.03 07:38 medstudenthowaway If you used your drivers license to get a library card will they take it away once the license is void? How do you discover which libraries have the best selection?
So I’ve been using a library card from my hometown on Libby for over a year. In order to get the library card I needed to send in a pic of my drivers license proving my residency. I had no idea how blessed I was until I got a Houston card. My hometown library has way better audiobook selection so I never really use it.
Anyways I had to move across the country (to a huge city) and I just added on my local libraries card. The selection is really bad. I’m disappointed. And now I’m worried I’ll lose access to my hometown library now that my drivers license is void. Anyone know if that happens?
Also why would a big city with better public services have a much worse selection? They straight up don’t have most audiobooks that I’ve looked up. Only epubs. What gives.

2023.06.03 07:38 exiledfromreality Do I get two rewards? Uh, sure, we already combined them...
TL/DR...placed on 2 lists for reading score increase/math score increase, only given one reward, told it was double what everyone else got when it was a 25 dollar gift card.
So, I am a fifth grade teacher. We have an assessment that we give in several sections 3 times per year...reading and math...honestly takes a full hour to hour and a half over 2 weeks to administer per child...not a big deal, just another thing to plan in the day.
It shows growth in math computation skills, math concepts, and various reading comprehension skills.
Yesterday, we got an email that the top 4 in the school (27 teachers, k-5) in both reading and math would geta prize...Lo and behold, I am second in the school in math! Cha ching...a candy bar for me...oh...wait! I'm FOURTH in reading...TWO candy bars! (BTW, the three classes that beat me in reading growth were ALL kindergarten...those letters...so hard...)
An hour into the school day, the AP comes into the room...Congrats, here is your reward...it is a $25 gift card for Bezos's enrichment! Hey wait, you had 8 rewards and I won two spots. Don't I get two?
No, uhm...they are already combined...OK, weird that the other winners got $12.50...I will believe that when the GOP prioritizes education in the inner city over capital gains taxes...
Later in the day, I go to the teacher and her co teacher (lots of IEPs) and congratulate them...they congratulate me...did you get your gift card?
Yup...25 smackers...
We got FIFTY! 25 each!
(Now, consider that there are two of them and they are in the second year with the same kids (they moved up with them) and they only beat me by 1%, (31% to 30%) well...did they REALLY do better than me...NOPE)
(sorry, moment of weakness) Seriously, I love this teaching duo. I've only been in this school a year and I've taught (way) in the past, but they are my mentors at this new place...If the AP had said only one card per winner, I would have replied...haha that sucks but OK....If the AP had said 'we had 8 cards and the winning class had two teachers so we thought it would be nice to give your second card to the SPED teacher' I would have FULLY supported that decision.
But this guy, who is ten years younger than me and an AP, expected me to believe that they bought 6 cards worth $12.50 and ONE card worth $25 because he was unsure that a 52 year old white man who CHOOSES to teach in the inner city would begrudge another teacher a 25 dollar gift card.
Is it petty? Yes. But I don't begrudge the card. I begrudge the LIE.
The pattern here is to treat me like I am an idiot, when my 27 fifth graders showed the most overall growth in the whole damn school...I don't care about the money, but read the room when you choose to lie.

2023.06.03 07:37 right__rudder Are Citi credit cards a bad ecosystem to get into?
Hello guys, I’ve been thinking about applying for my first Citi card, the CCC for the sole purpose of paying for gasoline. I’ve heard & read mixed opinions on the internet & was hoping to hear personal experiences from people on this SUB. I’ve also seen that they trademarked the new Stratus name & changed their travel portal to booking.com which gives me hope that they may offer great things in the future. Would you recommend Citi? If not, what are some other gasoline credit card options that you’d recommend. Thanks!

2023.06.03 07:35 SnooRegrets4878 The Lamb's Book of Life - June 2, 2023
“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” (Revelation 21:27) God does keep books! In fact, when David was pondering the time between his own conception and birth, he said, “In thy book all my members were written, which in continuance [that is, as my days continued] were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them” (Psalm 139:16). It seems that God has a book for each person who is conceived and that all these together constitute the Book of Life, one great volume containing the names and deeds of every one who was ever given biological life by his Maker. But many will reject (or simply ignore) God’s provision that would also give them eternal life. As David prayed in another psalm, “Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous” (Psalm 69:28). Note also Revelation 3:5 and 22:19. And that will be a fearful thing, for “whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). Those whose names will not be blotted out of the book, of course, are those who have been redeemed “with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19). Not one person deserves to be retained in God’s book, for all have sinned, but they have “beheld,” with eyes of thankful faith, “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), and have therefore been redeemed by the Lamb. Finally, only these will still have their names written on the rolls of the heavenly city. God’s Book of Life will have become “the Lamb’s Book of Life” on which are written forever the names of all those redeemed by His blood. HMM

2023.06.03 07:35 stressedTTTT Dunno if dentistry still worth it.
This is going to be slightly long. But, altogether I like this career and profession. I wasn't in love with this profession, but then I am shadowing a dentist who is awesome. She is so welcoming! And her enthusiasm really made me to explore more about this career. I love dexterity. And I am going to say that I am considering dentistry not because of prestige or making lots of money. It's about healthcare, and security/stability for myself and my family. Also, because this career offers flexibility and freedom later. :)
And I start talking with my friends in dental school. They mention that they regret a little actually. One friend complained about how expensive tuition is, how hard it is going to be to own a practice, and how saturated this career is in the cities. He is anxious about paying back student loans, and saving money for private practice. And my other friend just regrets overall, b/c she doesn't like dexterity as much as she thinks.
And now I am depressed and disappointed. I dunno if I should still pursue this career or not. My DAT is going to expire soon, so if I don't apply this year (for next year enrollment), I need to take DAT again. I am very bad at making decisions. And I am stressed and anxious now. I don't have many ppl to talk to (my parent actually disapprove of this choice, and my other relatives are wondering why I want to go into dental school when I am already 25). I am just wondering if I can get some comments from everyone online.

2023.06.03 07:35 Bucket_Hat300 Second letter to my potential future partner:
Hi again :)
How was your day? Is this cliche opening going to be ok every day for you haha? Of course I'll be different at some points... but I mean it when I ask it! How was it, seriously? Was work ok, did you get some stuff done? I know you did. Well done.
Today I rode though the yellow prairie roads in the backseat of a convertible with the top down and Heaven by Shygirl playing haha. I looked at the wheat and the grass that I probably couldve leaned over and touched while we were stopped. This has only happened probably between 5 and 10 times in my entire adult life, but for a while there I truly wasn't thinking about a single thing. I was consumed in enjoying it, and the people I was with. I'm from a mountain-y place, and people always told me I'd hate the praries because there's nothing to see in comparision. Well that's bullshit haha...it's simply a different kind of beautiful. Instead of a breathtaking beauty, one that is so magnificent it scares you, it's a calm, peaceful one. The kind of magnificent that makes you feel complete. I'm hoping that's how itll be with you. Not scary, anxiety inducing, not leaving me with questions, but a slow burn love. One we walk into like we have all the time in the world. Since I've gotten here I've been surrounded by couples, but I stick pretty close with Shadow, the dog. She always has love in her eyes, her brown eyes. I've always loved brown eyes. I wonder if you'll have brown eyes? I hope you like green eyes. Not the striking kind, haha, they're a dull green. Don't get too excited.
Lately I've been bonding with my best friends father a lot, and it's reminded me of how much I miss my dad at home. I think I won him over on the second day here by scaring him when he came down the stairs. He playfully shoved me and since then we've been good friends. We went to go check out our new apartment (I moved in with his daughter), and he hid in one of the closets and almost gave me an aneurysm. We're even now. We throw blueberries at each other at family gatherings too. Is your relationship with your family good? Do you have that one cousin you fuck with more than the others? Any brothers who think they're tough? Will they like me? Do you secretly have a favourite family member? Will your mom like me? I can't wait to meet your grandmother and treat her like a celebrity.
I also went to a church for the first time in years. I'm not religious, but I'm open minded. Interestingly, it was exactly what I needed to hear. Are you religious? Or spiritual? I think spirituality is very cool, almost necessary. It seems to soften the hard edges we acquire; I often get lost in thinking about it. I will ask you about these things eventually, haha. There was this concept they introduced called "hypomone". Its latin, and it means to stay under the pressures of life and endure while you wait for better things. In fact, not just enduring, but persevering. It means being thrust into the fire and being forged like tempered steel. I may or may not have teared up listening to this. You might hurt for a while but you're coming out bettered. That's pretty killer, right? My friend's mom sat beside me and encouraged me to think about this concept. I heard her singing during the hymns and I thought it was beautiful, seeing her sway and raise her hands slightly while she sung.
This new place is something else, baby. Again, I find myself far away from everything. I've done this before; I like change. It kind of hurts, but the kind of hurt I know I won't regret when I'm on my death bed. Is this what not accepting defeat feels like? I have no memories in this place, no associations. I have no places or monuments that attach me to people I've loved. In fact, I am hours, days, thousands of kilometers away. Each run down suburban street filled with cracks and potholes I feel the need to dodge while I'm driving, free of people and full of quiet and soft breeze, every street I've been told to stay away from when I'm by myself, each broken down and rotting house, every rusty car, every stretch of prairie at dusk that reminds me of cowboys and westerns, even though now we are far from the west. I've learned what my favourite part of the city is. It has lights reminds me of the lights back home, and water. I miss the water so much. Can we swim lots together, I like swimming. I cannot wait to walk through your beloved city with you one day, I'll be so torn between admiring you and what's going on around us.
I've come to some realizations about what I hope you're like... a couple nights ago, I watched my friend drink herself into sickness despite us all telling her she should probably slow down. My friend is stubborn, but her boyfriend offsets it a little. Anyways, while my friend begins to throw up, and we all scramble to bring her water and napkins and hold her hair, I see her boyfriend stride quickly through the bar. I stop him and ask if he's ok, and he says yes, and that he'll be right back. 10 minutes later he comes back with food and Gatorade for her, and rubs her back before carrying her to his truck. As we get home, I run in front to get all the doors and he continues to carry her, down the basement stairs and into her bed. This man would simply do anything for her, you can tell by how he looks at her. He's taken care of her this way for a year, and honestly, the way he talks about her he wouldn't be able to stop. Its refreshing to see how people should be loved. They are lucky to have each other. Let's be like that.
I miss people... I miss my mom, staying up with her, talking until we fall asleep and going on outings during the day. Just the two of us enjoying each others company. I miss Willamina and her dog that laid on me all the time, when her friends would slowly trickle in and her husband made us drinks. I miss Jackie, and how he traced my face with his fingers in the dark as I laid there in his lap, while he softly sung some songs from my favourite band. I miss Taya and the stories she would tell me, her life is insane. I miss Nolan, and his icy blue eyes that stared into me as he told me I was going to be fine, and called me his sister even though we are nowhere near blood, just old, old friends. I miss Carson and his loud music as we drove around, how he was in just as much pain from the same thing as me. I miss Elizabeth, and bawling our eyes out together as we sat directly in the middle of our storms, nothing to comfort us but each other. I miss Chris, and the way he quietly looked at me and outstretched his arms, saying nothing while I went in to embrace him, him calling me his little butterfly. I miss Tobi and Milo, and the way they would search for me and sit outside my door while I was gone, the way they would follow me around begging for my love while I was still there. I miss Amber, and how she would scream my name as she saw me walking to my doorstep, "i love you!". I miss the guy at work who would talk to me at 4 am, and called me doll face and tell me everything he had been through. I miss the tita I knew from work, and how I felt when I wanted nothing but the best for her after seeing she had the same scars as me. I miss people I dont know anymore, and the memories we were supposed to have, the time they promised me, the love they vowed to me before that love dissolved. I miss you. Where are you?

2023.06.03 07:33 NEIPA19 Forget this "team"
Blow the entire team up. Trade everyone on the roster and start over. This is a joke and we deserve better as fans. Last post-season the fans reminded the entire sports world of why we are the best sports city in the country (probably the world). Our passion as fans is why guys like the horrificly under-performing Turner wanted to come here and win. THAT'S. NOT. HAPPENING!!! Last season we made the WS out of pure luck- lesser teams upset better teams that we then happened to beat enroute to losing to Houston. Over the last 12 years we've had 1.5 months of enjoyable baseball and it resulted in nothing but a participation trophy inscribed with "Best Losers". The front office seems to be stuck in the sunk-cost fallacy just like the 6ers (that's right- trade Joel while he's worth a damn!). It's time to hit the eject button and restart on this abomination of a team. I'd rather be a scrappy team that plays good baseball but loses rather than a team stacked with grossly under-preforming, ridiculously paid, ass scratchers. Forget the Phillies and just wait with bated breath the entire summer for the Eagles!

2023.06.03 07:33 TheWindatFourtoFly Citi Field Food...
Why waste your time and money when you can go to Flushing and walk in with wontons and dumplings that blow every single Citi Field food item out of the water? Don't do it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

2023.06.03 07:33 Strong_Ad2025 They Live Among Us
Ok so Im a military vet but also a man of faith, I was stationed at Camp Lejeune military base. Anyways this had to be in the early 2000’s if memory serves me correctly. I was driving along one of the main roads of the city…I forgot where I was heading that particular day. Theres an intersection where two of the busiest roads in town cross at. As I’m driving the light turns yellow and I slow down, as Im coming up to the light I notice a car in front of me, there was what resembled a woman sitting in the car…I didn’t think much of this so called woman or the car, as the light turned red we both came to a stop. And then thats when it happened, I looked through her back window and looked at her rear view mirror. (You know how sometimes you can see peoples eyes looking at you through the rearview mirror when you are behind them) well i saw this “womans” eyes. If I was not very strong in my faith I would have been really mentally messed up to this day. When i looked into her /its eyes, I could NOT see or discern that a soul was there, its hard to explain but I did not even detect or sense she / it was a real person. I’ll never forget what I saw, she had dark yellow eyes with black pupils, Ive never seen any woman with eyes like her to this date. I mean golden yellow not bright yellow. And she stared at me through that rear view mirror for what seemed like days, she did NOT blink at all , nothing in her facial expression moved. We locked eyes and I stared back letting it/her know that I was not afraid of it. The even stranger thing was God normally tells me things or lets me discern whoever it is that Im looking at. God wouldn’t even let me speculate or discern what i was really looking at, the first thing I thought was she was a demon, the second was an alien. She could have been a high level witch or priestess. As those moments went on I looked away several times and when I looked back it was still staring at me…it seemed to be analyzing me, but we both were at a stalemate. Every time I looked away and looked back it was staring at me. Finally the light turned green and it hit the gas and drove on out of town accelerating into the distance. The whole experience was eerie. To this day I have never met or seen anyone like that. No blinking, no facial expression, no nothing , just a lifeless soulless stare, I cant even fathom to think of what it was. But i will tell you this it new how to look like a woman and it new how to drive. Do what you will with this information.

2023.06.03 07:31 Captain-Geography Adult Tennis Leagues/Groups
Are there any adult tennis leagues in the Twin Ports? I’ve googled it and all I can find is Longview Tennis Club which gives me more family oriented/country club vibes …. I moved to Duluth not too long ago and can’t believe that a city of its size doesn’t have a tennis league considering the small town of 5000 that I used to live in had one. Thanks for any info
