2023.06.05 11:13 Repulsive-Knee-9196 People say I respond to questions with far-off answers, but for me, I answered the question perfectly fine.
Hello, I was misdiagnosed with MDD when I was 15, got the correct diagnosis when I was 19 (but it wasn't specified what TYPE of Bipolar), and finally got diagnosed with Bipolar II at 20.
I've been teased (borderline bullied) by my peers for having "my head in the clouds." I usually think it's just the meds-induced brain fog that makes me ditzy or stupid-sounding but I have a scenario for you guys that often happens to me and idk if it's because of bipolar or it's just an odd quirk of mine.
Example 1: This happened just yesterday. My family and I were eating in a Korean BBQ restaurant. Quite often in these kinds of restos, they also play K-pop in the background. There was a specific song that played in the resto radio and I asked my sister if she knows it. She said she can't hear it well. I replied, "I think it's a pandemic song." She frowned at me and pointed out, "What you just said has no correlation to what I said." What I meant was, "The song was released during the rise of the pandemic (that's 2 or 3 years ago???) so she might not know the song."
Example 2: I was talking to the people in my discord server about an-almost relationship I had with a guy. In the Reddit community in my country, people have this weird criteria of what they consider a "must-date person": "studied in the Big 4," (which is basically the Ivy League equivalent in our country), "can host, can drive, has a condominium, etc. So when they asked me if he has a condominium, I said, "He commutes to [one of the Big 4 Universities] every day." They thought my answer was weird but what I was trying to say was that "I'm not sure but he doesn't seem to have a condominium because he commutes to uni every day. If he had a condo (near their uni), he wouldn't have needed to commute and walk to his uni instead."
Do you guys also experience this? What do you call this exactly? I heard about "word salad" for schizophrenic patients but mine is not merely words, it's a complete sentence, albeit, with very incomplete information.
I hope to hear your insights!

2023.06.05 10:46 Gummikoalabears Just got home from our first Virgin Voyage on the Scarlet Lady.
We did the May 31 - June 4 Key West, Bimini cruise. I'll give some pros and cons but overall loved the cruise and put money down for our next cruise, hopefully one of the Mediterranean ones.
Loved: 1. Food. Test kitchen was tons of fun and one of the best dishes we had the entire cruise was the mushroom course. So good!
Extra virgin was just great. Our server pretty much just told us that he would bring out one of each of the appetizers. He also brought out extra pasta. Everything here was great.
Pink Agave. This was our consensus favorite meal of the entire cruise. Our server gave us all of the small and medium plates. We each ordered a different large plate and requested more of the small plates. We also had all of the desserts. We were here for well over two hours and enjoyed every minute. Relax, you're on a cruise. Enjoy your food!
The Wake - we ate here once for brunch and once for dinner. Some of us are the soup for both meals. Everything here was excellent. It wasn't the best steak house in the world, but it was very good.
The Dock House - we snacked here multiple times. The shrimp and the hangar steak are great! This was pretty much lunch everyday.
Pizza place - fantastic pizza.
The galley - the taco place and the Ramen place were the best parts of the galley. We didn't try the Burger place at all. Breakfast tended to be disappointing so we started eating at the other restaurants for breakfast. They were great!
- The boat - so many great spaces to just hang out. We played board games, read, did trivia, colored, drank, ate. We just loved this boat. Spent tons of time on deck 7 aft.
- Bimini Beach - both the pool and ocean are great places to be.
- Scarlet night - so fun. Just go with the flow
Needs improvement:
- Bars - we had a bar tab and didn't spend almost $70 because it was almost impossible to get a drink. And the bars were not that crowded. More bars need to be open. Sometimes all the inside bars were open and all of the outside bars were closed or vice versa. Considering everything else is included and this is the main place virgin is going to make money during the cruise, I'm surprised virgin doesn't make it a bigger priority to sell alcohol.
Pool area- pool deck is made of lava. It gets way too hot. Wellness pool is actually a giant hot tub. Not what one wants when we're at sea and it's 95 out. It made the other pool feel even smaller. And the other pool is too small.
Service- really great at some places ( extra virgin, pink Agave, test kitchen,) OK in some places (The Wake) and bad in others (parts of the galley, most bars)
Scheduling - tons to do but many of the things we wanted to do conflicted with dinner. And we love the dinners. We're not skipping dinner for trivia. Move the trivia.
Beach club trams - had the weather been good, this would not have been an issue but there was a big storm with lots of nearby lightening and everyone tried to leave at the same time. Very unorganized. Lots of people running and leaving others who had been ahead of them without seats. It was not the finest moment for some people.
Redemption spa - tons of potential. Just very unorganized. Getting a robe and slides were difficult. I ended up sitting in a line for massages thinking it was the line for the spa. Mud for the mud room is no where near the mudroom. It's a great space and I really enjoyed the spa but it was much more stressful than it needed to be. Also the big tub in the floor should be the hot tub.
Pizza place - again we loved the pizza. But they need to explain to people what kind of pizza they serve and what they should expect. It's wood fire pizza. It's cooked at very high temperature. The crust will have some blackness on it. It tastes great! Don't return your pizza or ask for another one. Saw so many rude who made the wait ridiculously long for everyone else.
Water stations- Loved the water stations except they need more. They are very hard to find and the majority of them seem to be outside. Some drink stations on deck 7 would make a lot of sense.
Again we loved this cruise. We booked another one while on board. The things that need improvement were minor compared to the things we loved. We traveled with friends and that made a huge difference. Had it just been two of us, I think the activity scheduling would have been a bigger deal. We were just there to chill and we had a blast.

2023.06.05 10:40 Motor_South_6577 Make your vacation memorable with vacation rentals.
After months of working, the only thing everybody wants is a relaxing holiday. This is the time when one wants nothing more than to unwind and have fun. The challenge of planning the perfect vacation is narrowing down the options from among the many stunning tourist destinations. However, picking a fantastic destination is only one part of the process of organizing a trip.
The selection of a suitable cheap Airbnb Fort Lauderdale FL, taking into account factors such as location, desired amenities, and cost, is an essential element of any vacation preparation. While hotels have always been a popular option, these short-term rentals are quickly gaining popularity among travellers.
đź“·
Airbnb near Fort Lauderdale can be anything from a house to a villa to a condo. No matter what kind of vacation rental you end up booking, you can rest assured that it will be cheaper and more spacious than a hotel room. Vacation rentals can be anything from cozy cabins to huge mansions.
Luxury Airbnb condo fort Lauderdale have everything from full kitchens to movie theaters, saunas to hot tubs, fireplaces to books, and gardens to security systems. Cleaning services, food delivery, catering, and even laundry facilities are available at certain vacation rentals. Private golf courses and fitness centers may be made available by some property managers and owners.
The vast majority of vacation homes are found in convenient proximity to the city’s most visited attractions. Visitors to these rental properties will appreciate their convenient central placement. Fort Lauderdale short-term rental is like having a second home right in the middle of the action at your favourite place.
Vacation rental sites accept credit card bookings safely, or you can contact the owner or manager personally. If you’re seeking for a bespoke service, expert rental managers can help you find what you need. Last-minute and off-season bookings may also qualify for special prices. You should always choose a
luxury Airbnb Fort Lauderdale.
Here are a few things to think about when booking a rental property for your next vacation:
- đź“·
- Price - Since money is of the essence during a vacation, it is important to set a budget for accommodations, and then narrow the selection to vacation rentals that meet the budget.
- Accommodation Size - Since this depends on the number of people in the group, it is also an important consideration. The layout of the rooms is also significant, since it must be suitable for families, groups of friends, or solo travellers.Larger homes or cabins are a better fit for groups, while cozy condos or cottages are just right for a couple.
- Location - You should prioritize finding vacation homes in a location that is convenient for the activities you want to do while away. You may easily visit local beaches, ski resorts, stores, and restaurants on foot from a property that is situated in a convenient central location. On the other side, if you’d rather avoid the crowds, you might choose a more rural property that offers more seclusion.

2023.06.05 09:44 awfulhousethrowaway NK is a sweetheart at home, but awful everywhere else. NF want me to fix it through summer break. [Long, vent, advice needed.]
Hello everyone, a bit of a long story with way too much context to be had, so I thought I'd do me best to cut to the chase. I moved in with a father and his two year old ("Joshua,") who is now four. It was entirely unconventional. I needed somewhere to live and they offered nannying in exchange for rent for awhile, but later on when I had an actual job/interviews, I "couldn't go," because they'd make plans and leave me with Josh. Eventually, this just became "the thing."
The custody arrangement between the parents gave me two evenings off per week up until September, to which it swapped to week to week. In other words, I had Josh for all but eight hours per week for a year and a half, and now I have him full time two-three weeks a month. He's become very close to me, and in a non-egocentric way, only really listens to me as I have been the only real constant in his life.
However, in my time living here, Josh was "expelled," from two daycares for hitting, biting, scratching, etc. We've also gotten countless calls from his current preschool for similar disputes. He's partially special needs, so one of his teachers recommended he be enrolled in a Charter school because he is smart, but he needs an acclimated environment. There aren't many locally, and the parents live three hours apart. We finally found one in the middle of us who are willing to surpass district laws, but now with summer break coming up and his behavioral issues exacerbating, we're worried he's going to be expelled from that school too. They won't be nearly as patient as this preschool has been, should that happen, the father, kiddo and I will have to pack up and move those three hours away because the other charter school is in the mothers hometown.
Almost all of his disciplinary action, his rewards systems, his learning to read, write, and speak has been up to me. The parents give me a lot of "He won't listen when I do it, so you do it," as if I don't endure the same tantrums they do. I just don't think they put in much effort. He's been in both speech and occupational therapy, but the parents consistently drop him off and leave, and I'm unsure if that's normal. I've asked both of them the name of his teachers, all of the therapists names, what they're practicing so we can work on it at home, and neither can answer any of the questions. A year ago, I asked to be put on the teachers/speech therapists text list so I can be up to date on what he's learning, and the answer (I suppose obviously,) was no, since I'm not a legal guardian.
This summer will give me 13hr days, 7 days a week, and that is all the time I'll have to try and "fix," his behavior. I can't control how he's raised in the other parents house the opposing weeks. He'll be in occupational therapy again this summer, but he almost never goes on our weeks (I don't have a car anymore), and again, they never know what he's actually doing there, so outside of the hour per week, he's not getting any practice in. I am unsure of what to do because as of now, he WILL get expelled quickly, we cannot afford to move, and I do not want to go with them - while also not wanting to leave the kid alone. To leave would take me further from "my life," but I literally just negotiated from $0.60 an hour to $2.00, so my options would be to move or not have a roof over my head.
Here's what I've incorporated -
- Limiting and controlling screentime, making sure he doesn't watch anything too wound up. No screens between dinner and bed.
- Reward systems, lots of "yays," "you did it!" "thank you!" and "good jobs!"
- Corner time when it calls for it.
- He's super into routine. I have alarms for all meals, naps, clean up, baths, etc. When there's an alarm or five minute warning, he'll drop everything and do as he needs to with little to no tantrums. Springing it on him will have all hell break loose.
- Creating homework for him when he rarely has it to help him keep up.
I do all of the gentle parenting I see online, and recently, the mother has picked up on it too and quit using spanking. The fathers picked up on it too, but hasn't given up spanking.
I just think a lot of this is over my head, and I can't "cure," his issues. FWIW, I think it's a combo of being a pandemic kid and special needs, he never became accustomed to socializing. His parents say he's "too hyper," to take anywhere, so he's never taught how to behave in restaurants, waiting rooms, stores, etc. The only time he goes out is when the "fun parent," takes him out to highly stimulating places (ie arcade, trampoline park) and I believe that emphasizes his hyperactivity.

2023.06.05 09:21 HappyDude901 Less protection for more mobility?
I noticed that the suits of power armor not only differ in protection, but also in design, the T-45 PA and the T-51 PA both have additional protection around the wearer's abdomen, but the T-60 and X-01 loses the protection around the abdomen and now have more mobility and are more effecient than the others, i started to wonder if this would slightly bring down protection for the wearer if they were ever shot near that area.

2023.06.05 08:44 DimondNugget The endless basement that goes down forever.
One day I was hiking along a small mile long trail and it was an ordinary weekend and a nice sunny day. I knew the weather was going to be nice today so I decided to go for a hike and I drove to my nearest state park and once I got out of my car I smelled the nice fresh air of the outdoors and then I saw a small one mile trail and decided to go on it I walked a while on the trail and while I was walking on the trail I heard the peaceful sounds of the birds chirping and I saw the beautiful forest and the beauty of mother nature around me as I was walking near the end of the trail and I was greeted by a blocked off gravel path and a sign saying please do not go on this path hikers are not allowed on this path 500 dollar fine if caught walking on it.
I was curious when I saw this and I looked around to see If anyone was around me and I saw that no one was around me and I then jumped the fence that was blocking the gravel path I was finally walking on the forbidden gravel path and I got a rush out of it knowing I was doing something forbidden. On this so called forbidden path I looked around me to see if there was any park rangers I of course did not see any. I then kept walking on the gravel path and I was walking for a while and I kept seeing signs telling me to go back and stop walking on this path of course I ignored the signs and kept walking.
I looked at my clock and saw it was getting late and I was starting to get worried because the park is closing soon and the park rangers usually check the park to see if anyone is still in the park at closing time and If I got caught that means I would get fined 500 dollar so my paranoia made me to look around me to see if there were any park rangers around me there were none around and that gave me sigh of relief. I kept walking and it was really starting to get dark and I heavily searched my bag to see if I had a flash light I found a small dim flash light in my bag but it was bright enough to see around me but as I looked around to see I thought I had saw something in the corner of my eye of course it scared me a bit but I shrugged it off as my mind playing tricks on me. I then heard the wind howling and I thought I could hear something faint in the wind as I was listening.
I at first thought my mine was playing tricks on me and I kept listening I found out my mind was not playing tricks on me I was hearing voices in the wind and the voices were telling me to go back and to get off the forbidden path. I looked around to see that no one was there, was I hallucinating? I was walking and for a while I did not hear anything but then the wind started to howl again and I heard "please go back it's not safe". I was shaken up by this so I looked around me to see that no one was there I was for sure I heard someone. I then kept seeing stuff in the corner of my eye again and I thought I saw a ghostly figure for a second but every time I looked they were gone. I then once again started to hear the wind howling and I began to hear voices again and I kept hearing "go back go back get off the gravel path". At this point dawn was starting to come and the sky was starting to turn brighter and I saw something in the distance it was some sort of mansion me being the curious and adventurous I was happy to explore what ever this mansion was. I proceed to approach the mansion and as I was walking to it the wind began to howl very violently and the wind gust were very strong and it almost knocked me over my feet.
I began to hear "please go back go back do not go in there". I of course was too curious about the mansion to listen to what the voices were saying. I then opened the front door of the mansion and I walked in and saw that the place was old and was falling apart the wooden boards were rotting away and it smelled like mildew. I knew by the looks of this place it was abandoned and no one lived there. I was curious to explore this place so I walked around and I proceed to walk to the first room and I saw that there was a lot of holes in the wall and it looked torn apart, the bed was broken and the window was broken and I could tell that this place was old and rotting away. I then proceeded to the next room and I saw that there was symbols wrote with dried blood on the wall, this of course scared me bad and I jumped and I saw that there was rotting away skeletons of animals in this room, It looked like as if there was devil worshipers here. I then tried to walk to more rooms in this mansion and I saw more scary stuff. I saw that there was a warning wrote in dried blood on the walls saying whatever you do, do not go in the basement it's dangerous.
I then was curious to go in the basement of the mansion and I was the cat who could have died from their own curiosity. I then saw the door to the basement and I looked at it for a good 20 minutes, and after minutes I finally made up my mind to go open the basement door and go down there. I then proceeded to open the basement door and I then walked down the stairs and as I walked down the stairs the basement door slammed shut and I walked back up and tried to open the basement door I tried to open as hard as I could but it would not budge "shit I'm trapped in this basement and can't get out". I tried again to get the door to open I even tried pounding the door down but it did not work the door was locked shut.
I then gave up on trying to open the basement door and walked back down the stairs and I saw that the basement was huge and the was dried blood all over the walls It was crazy how much dried blood was on the walls and I was very scared I wanted to pound on the basement door again and get out of this place but I knew that would not work. I walked around some more around the basement and saw that there was more stairs it seemed as if the stairs went down to another floor. I proceeded to walk down the stairs and I got to where this floor was and I saw on this floor had a bit more dried blood on the wall then the previous floor I was on. I saw that this floor was bigger than the previous floor I was on and It was a massive room and in the corner of my eye I saw a figure of some sort and when I turned around it was not there I jump but then told myself that my mind was playing tricks on me because this basement was just so creepy.
I again saw that something was in the corner of my eye I looked around me fast and saw that no one was there. I kept walking around this floor and saw that it was full of furniture like very old stuff from what seemed to be from the 70s or 60s and they was a radio of some sort it only had AM on it and no FM. I thought to myself if I could turn on the radio but wondered if it still had worked so I pressed the button and surprised it turned on and starting working. All I heard at first was just static but then I kept listening and I could barely hear anything and I thought I heard something though the static but then I could finally hear something though the static and I hear what sounded like creepy voices in the static. I still could not hear it because there was still a lot of static on the radio and I tried to tune the radio to see if I could hear it more but nothing came out of it and I could still hear a lot of static but then after a few minutes I heard the voices again on the radio and I heard the voices louder this time and I could hear what they where saying and I heard a bone chilling sound coming from the radio a girl screaming "dad please help me I'm being tormented the beast is tormenting me please make it stop"!
My heart nearly stopped due to how scared I was. I saw that there was even more stairs that went down what seem like even another floor a 3rd floor even. I was curious and walked down the stairs and walked into the 3rd floor it even had the number 3 on it. I saw that this floor was not as big as the 2nd floor. I began to see that there was spiders on the wall but there was only of few of them on the walls and saw some more stuff it looked like there was some writing on the wall and it said the further you go down the worse it gets.
There were bricks on the walls of this floor and there was no wallpaper just bricks on the walls and I saw that there was a door to another room of some sort on this floor. I opened the door and saw that it was pitch black in this room and I walked into the room and could not see in the room so I got the flashlight from my bag and turned it on and it still was pitch black it's like this room was sucking any light away so I had to feel around the room but as I got walking around this room and feeling my way around I felt as if someone was behind me and I felt as if I was not alone in this room and the longer I stayed in the room the stronger the feeling got and tried to find my way out of the room because I felt as if someone was behind me and I felt as if someone was gently touching me and It got me scared but I then bolted and tried to find my way out of the room but could not for a few minutes and I then could hear a faint growl in my ear and I was running as fast I could and I finally found my way out of the room I was in. I slammed the door shut to the room I was in and I saw even more stairs that went down to another floor and ran down the stairs.
I was now on the 4th floor and saw that on the 4th floor there was cobwebs on the ceiling of the floor and spiders were more common than on the 3rd floor and there was more dried blood on the wall than the previous floors I was in. There was a lot more stuff on this floor and there was dining tables and chairs on this floor and it looks like as this was a restaurant from the 60s or 70s and I walked around the floor and there was cobwebs on the tables and chairs and spiders were crawling on the table but then I saw that there was a kitchen of some sort and I kept feeling as if something was behind me but the feeling was not that strong and I kept seeing stuff in the corner of my eye but when I turned I saw that nothing was there I realized that in the darker places that where less illuminated the feeling of something being behind me was there .
There were flickering lights in this place that seem as if they were about to die out. I somehow walked into a darker place in the floor and the feeling of something behind me was coming back. I felt as if something was lurking in this place and they lurked in the darker areas with less light. I saw that was of course more stairs that went down into the 5th floor. I was now in the 5th floor and holy crap this place was getting creepy there was a lot more cobwebs on this floor then there was on floor 4 and the spiders where now in big numbers and the spiders looked even bigger than before. This floor was even darker with less light. I saw that there was tables and chairs on the 5th floor just like the last one but they where on the tables but then as I looked away and looked back I saw that the chairs were now on the floor and broken for some reasons and I thought to myself this place has to be haunted. There less light bulbs that were on this floor than on the last floor and it was darker and there was less light.
Like I said in darker areas I felt as if someone was behind me and on this floor the feeling was stronger than on the last floor. I walked around and was in darker areas with less light and the feeling of someone behind me was getting stronger and stronger until I stopped walking and I listened closely and I could faintly hear a voice of some sort and it sounded creepy and I got scared and walked to a lighter area with more light and I saw something in the corner of my vision and then turned around to see a tall skinny shadow figures and it appeared to be afraid of the areas of the place with more light so I kept going around the place and saw more figures and I went into a darker area and something jumped out at me and tried to attack me and I ran to where a light bulb illumined the place and the figures stopped were scared off by the light of the light bulb and stopped attacking me because of the light.
I kept going down more floors and my god it felt like this thing was going down forever I was on the 15th floor when things really started getting bad the cobwebs where getting the point to where they are covering everything and spiders where so big to the point to where they are the size of the palm of my hand. I saw that there was little spiders in such massive numbers that something you could not see what they were because it was covered in so many spiders. On the 15th floor it was so dark that you could barely see in front of you the only reason I could see that there spiders everywhere was because there was only a few light bulbs on the floor that were dimly lit . The Odor on this floor was bad and it smelled like dead rotting corpses and so much dried blood on everything that it covered every square inch on what was on the floor and on the wall on everything and on everywhere.
I was standing under a dimly lit light and around me I would hear voices screaming "help me help I'm being tormented"! I then saw that around be where hundreds of glowing eyes around me but I felt as if I would be safe as long as if there was light around me. I stayed under the light bulb for until the eyes went away but then a few minutes later the light bulb above me went out and when that happened I knew I was in trouble and I bolted and I could not see in the dark so I bumped around everything and tripped and fell and as I fell something grabbed me and I could tell that this thing was big. It was dark and I could not see anything but I was in this what ever this thing was grip and I thrashed and tried to punch this thing but it was not budging I felt as if my life was coming to an end.
A stroke of luck happened and for some god only knows reason I escaped from what ever this thing was grip and ran as fast I could in the dark tripping over objects and then getting back up. I was in the dark and saw a dim light in the distance and I got closer to see it was a dimly lit light bulb I felt safe under this light bulb and the thing did not go near it. I went down more floors and on floor 18 is when some very scary stuff started happening at this point spiders where the size of cats and the cob webs where so thick that it was getting hard to walk through. I was getting attacked by spiders I was fighting them off it was getting to the point where I was getting overwhelmed by them. I found a baseball bat on the floor and used it to beat the spiders and kill them.
I heard screams everywhere and they were ear piercing. All I could hear was "I'm being tormented help"! I then realized that there was water on the floor about an inch of it. I kept walking around and I kept hearing the sloshing of water on the floor as I walked I tried to turn on my flashlight because it was dark but the darkness of the room was so bad that it sucked all the light away from the flash light. I was walking and a very nasty smell hit my nose, it was the smell of rotting corpses but the smell was very strong and I began to throw up and nearly passed out. I felt as this place I was in was filled with corpses and that was confirmed when I saw a very dim light in the distance and when I went to it I was hundreds of rotting corpses and some of them where in the very thick cobwebs hanging with web wrapped around them like mummies.
I looked down and saw that the so called inch of water was not water at all it was an inch of blood filled with maggots and flies swarming them by the thousands. I looked and saw a corpse and I kept staring at it and saw that it had long flowing blond hair and was wearing a pink backpack with yellow stars and had a purple shirt that said lets go tigers and that when it hit me like a truck and tears started flowing down my face this was my daughter she is dead and was smelly rotting corpse that mostly been mummified. My daughter was 16 when she went missing and her school mascot was a tiger and her name was Amy and she had a pink backpack with stars. I miss her so much and if she was alive by now she who have been an adult at the age of 18. I then look to see at her backpack to confirm if it was her and I saw the name Amy written on her backpack I confirmed that this was in fact my daughter. I kept digging in the backpack to see what was in it and found her phone it turned on with 45 percent battery and no password was on it.
I could no longer hold it in anymore and the tears flowing down my face become full blown sobbing. My daughter is just a mummified dead corpse. I took my daughters phone out of her backpack and put it in my pocket and as I was doing that is when I heard it a low pitched growl and a very creepy one and then I froze for a solid minute and then heard a another growl and I tried to be as quiet as I could and heard the sound of water sloshing around but that of course was not water but it was blood sloshing around. I kept hearing the blood sloshing as if something was moving around in it and my heart was pounding very hard and I felt as this was the end of me I then realized I was in this thing's nest and I was going to be the fly in the web.
I heard the sloshing again and it sounded like it was getting closer to me and I felt a warm draft over me and that when I booked it and ran I fast as I could and ran up the stairs that was closest to me. I ran to the other floors I was now at floor 17 and I knew the thing was chasing after me. I was now hyperventilating and heart pounding I could hear roaring at the stair well I knew I had to run up to floor 1 and bust the door down as hard as I could I kept running tripping over everything in the dark and dirty as hell and covered in blood. I then ran up to the stairwell that went to floor 16 and of tripped and fell while on the stairwell to floor 16 and busted my head and blacked out and woke up in a spiderweb. I open my eyes and saw I had passed out and I was back on floor 18.
I knew I was doomed and I would never be found down here I was going to be this thing's meal a few hours had passed I kept struggling and struggling and could not get out of the web. I felt a warm draft on me and I felt as if I was being stabbed this thing was digging into me with it's fangs I felt I was done for. The pain of the thing digging it's fangs in me was unbearable and I was screaming. The thing was sucking my blood until it was dry. I was there in that web for god knows how long it had to be a very long time because I was dehydrated and very hungry. I was very weak and could not move much and could barley move my limbs but for some reason I began to slowly fall out of the web and broke free from the web and I got out of the web. I began to walk slowly to the stairwell that lead to the 17th floor and I climbed up the stairs slowly and when I was up on the 17th floor I walked around the floor for a while and I saw a place I could hide in from the thing there was a door and I open and there was a glowing light in the room I opened and the light was a light blub glowing and turned and lit up the room and I saw that I was in luck because there was 2 bottles of water on the shelfs in the small room I was in and a small bag of trail mix that was month passed its expiration date. I put a chair in front of the door so the thing would not get in.
I happily ate the trail mix and drank the 2 bottles of water and I put my ear on the door to see if I hear anything and when it was ready to go. I did not hear anything when I was putting ear my ear on the door at first but then a few hours had passed, and I heard a sniffing sound a faint growl. I tried to be as quiet as I could and hoped the chair in the door made where the thing could not get in the room with me, and I was no longer weak because I drank the water and ate the trail mix. I heard banging on the door the thing was trying to get in and get me. I had to think fast, and I saw a trap door and I opened and crawled into it as fast as I could. I was inside vents now and crawling and I heard the thing break down the door, but it was too big to get in the vents I was crawling in.
I began to crawl faster and found an exit to the vents, and it was on floor 15. I was now on floor 15 and the vents for some reason just collapsed right as when I crawled out of them, and I could not get back into the vents to get away from the thing. I heard the sound of the thing getting up to the floor I was at, and I booked it as fast as I could and ran up the stairwell to floor 14. I ran up more floors and I'm now on floor 12 and I fell as if this thing is catching up to me and I ran I fast as I could and kept running until I reached floor 11 and at floor 11 I grab a knife on the table and I kept running until I got to floor 10 and then on floor 10 I fell into a huge hole that was on the floor and the wood on the floor was rotting and I fell back into floor 11. I was catch up by the thing and was in its grasp and struggled to get out of it grasp and I then stabbed it in both of its eyes and it let go of me and it was screeching in pain. I ran back into the 10th floor and went around the hole and then went up into the others floor and at floor 7 I could hear it getting closer to me again but kept running as fast as I could and heart pounding.
I few more floors left, and I could pound the door down and get out of the basement. I was running and finally got up to floor 1 and began to violently pound down the door that was the entrance to the basement and I pounded as hard I could and I had super human strength from the adrenalin and I could hear the thing coming up the floors so I did one last super hard pound on the door with all my strength and busted a hole in the door and walked out the door and at last I was no longer in the basement of this damn mansion. I then ran out of the mansion and was finally outside and I kept running on the gravel path as fast as I could and then for a while, I finally found the fenced I had jumped and got over it and was back on the small 1 mile trail and collapsed on the ground where people saw me drenched in blood.
I then woke up in the hospital and the doctor said I was lucky and almost died from severe blood loss and I realized I had my daughter's phone in my pocket and cops were in the hospital room where I was at. I also saw my wife there too and she said where were you I called the cops and your boss said you were not at work, and he then called cops and I went all over the city looking for you and stayed up and it was on the news of you going missing and I'm glad you're okay and you are alive. I told them everything of what happened I told about the thing in the basement of abandon mansion in the woods and I would never go back to that place.
My wife told me her story and she told me that she looked everywhere in town for me and her first thought I was at the bar with my friends but then saw I was not there she said it was getting dark and I had to be home to or she would call the cops and she said I did not answer the phone and she got worried and called the cops. The cops came and began to search for me, and days had passed, and they did not find me so a whole search group came and looked for me and she said she looked around the city and she tried to look for me at the small park near the house and did not find me.
She said a cop was at a state park and saw a passed out person on the ground at a 1 mile trail which was me and the ambulance came and picked me up and got me to the hospital and then a cop was at the hospital and realized it was me as I was waking up.
A few months had passed and I was diagnosed with ptsd and I told my therapist everything.

2023.06.05 08:34 TheTim The Tough Reality of Running an Independent Retail Shop in Downtown Everett [LONG!]
| exterior of Chai Cupboard, with a large replica Moai It's been just over two years since my wife and I opened the doors at Chai Cupboard, our loose leaf tea and spice shop in downtown Everett, and I thought it would be a good time to share how things are going for our little mom and pop shop. Can we call ourselves a mom and pop shop if we're only in our 40s? Whatever, I'm going for it. In short: It has been and continues to be difficult! Starting up Let's start with what it took just to open our doors. We spent about $32,000 of our own money (no investments, no loans) to start up. This included things like buying the initial inventory, all our jars and other supplies, furniture, and putting in new flooring. Finding a good location in downtown Everett was a challenge. It seemed like every space we looked at was either way too large (2,000+ square feet), way too expensive ($2,000+ a month), or both. The space we eventually landed in is around 1,100 square feet and costs us just under $1,800 a month. Plus electricity and gas. Plus parking. Plus basic building maintenance, repairs, and real estate taxes. You would think that those last few things should be the responsibility of the landlord that owns the building, but this particular landlord owns such a large portion of downtown Everett that they are able to dictate the terms of the lease to dramatically favor them and there's basically nothing you can do about it. Fun! a Shiba Inu named Maya lays contentedly in a ray of sunlight in front of a shelf full of glass jars that contain tea Keeping the lights on Okay, so let's talk about ongoing costs. All together, running the shop five days a week, we need to make about $100 a day in profit to pay our basic bills. That means we need around $200 a day in sales to break even after paying for our inventory and other supplies. So far in 2023 we're making an average of $117 per day in sales. That's up from $100 per day during the same period in 2022, but still far short of where we need to be in order just to break even—and these figures are with no employees, just us (mostly my wife) running the shop entirely by ourselves. If we wanted to hire just a single employee at $20 an hour for 20 hours a week, the wages, taxes, and other costs would add up to another $2,000 a month or more than $100 a day. All of this means that we're putting about another $1,500 into the shop every month out of our pocket to keep the doors open. To date we have made around $55,000 in revenue, but spent a total of about $128,000, meaning that over $70,000 has come directly out of our pocket to try to make this work. Expanding our horizons Since it has been difficult selling enough loose-leaf tea and spices to make ends meet, we have been working on a few different ideas to try to bring in more money. The biggest of these plans was to open a full tea bar, serving things like tea lattes and iced tea. Unfortunately, our space is not equipped with the proper kitchen to obtain the necessary permits from the health department. Our landlord was open to letting us pay to upgrade their space (how generous of them!) and we were able to get a grant from the city for about $16,000 that we thought would cover the plumbing improvements and appliances we would need. Unfortunately again, once we opened up the walls we discovered that the existing drainage was nowhere near sufficient for the amount of sinks the health department requires. Fixing this would require considerably more work than we originally expected, including cutting a trench into the concrete floor. Between the extra drainage work and the extreme inflation that ratcheted up the cost of everything else while we tried to figure it all out, the total cost of the project ballooned to over $50,000. We applied for a second grant in hopes of still moving forward, but were denied. So the full tea bar idea is dead unless we find a whole new location with a proper restaurant kitchen, which would of course have much higher rent, somewhat negating the benefit of opening the tea bar at all. three glass tea brewers, each with tea currently brewing Thankfully as long as we only serve hot tea in a to-go cup, we are not classified by the health code as a "food establishment," so we can still do that without all of the extra sinks. We have been able to set up three tea brewers on a custom stand that I built out of hardwood, and at least provide a basic cup of tea to-go. Building the physical and digital space a custom-built wooden counter holding a register and some tea brewers, in a shop with brick walls and a shelf with jars in the background Speaking of building furniture, the shop has given me a good excuse to spend some quality time with my woodworking tools. I built our custom shelves that hold all the jars, as well as the custom main counter, and I'm quite pleased with how they all turned out. a shelf made of wood and pipe, full of glass jars with spices, in front of a brick wall Surprisingly, building physical objects like the furniture has been easier than building things in the digital space. While we have had a basic website set up since before we opened, building a proper online shop has been a bit of a pain. Aside from the challenge of synchronizing all of our inventory with an online storefront, to get it properly set up we need to take individual photos of all 200+ of the teas and spices we sell, which is a daunting task. Once we do get the online side of the store set up with all the photos, another idea we've had to increase sales is to set up a tea sampler subscription box, but the economics of subscription boxes is pretty rough. There are competitors in the space that sell a tea box for $20 that includes shipping. It would be difficult for us to make and ship a box of teas for less than $20 in actual cost to us. So, what's next? We have really enjoyed running the shop, learning more about teas and spices, and meeting all the lovely people who have come in over the past two years. To date we have had nearly 2,000 customers, about 25% of which are repeat customers. We have had zero problems with crime, and only one unpleasant run-in with an individual having a drug-induced psychotic episode. Downtown Everett is a great location, and we love the increasing number of events that are happening downtown like Sorticulture, Salty Sea Days, and the Wintertide Festival & Market. We're convinced that our shop is a valuable addition to Everett, but it's tough to keep pouring thousands of dollars into it every single month, and to be so far away from even being able to hire a single person to help out. It is beginning to feel like running a small independent retail shop in downtown Everett may not be viable with the current cost of rent, lack of significant downtown foot traffic, and most people's default mode of shopping online first. We've still got over a year on our current lease, so we're going to continue trying to make this work, but looking around at the other businesses downtown, it's easy to see why they're mostly restaurants, breweries/bars, coffee shops, or retailers who have been around forever and own their own building. And of course, I haven't even mentioned the other big complicating factor: In just a few weeks we're having a baby! This means we're going to have to dramatically cut back how many hours the shop is even open, due to the aforementioned inability to afford to hire any additional help. Anyway, if you fancy some tea, stop on by! We're at 2809 Colby in downtown Everett. And if you have some brilliant idea for how to make this type of business actually turn a profit, please drop me a line and share it! a row of glass jars full of colorful spices, with white labels and gold lids, sitting on a wooden shelf in front of a brick wall submitted by TheTim to everett [link] [comments] |
2023.06.05 08:18 SeitaAnother9 AITA for wanting a break?
I (26 M) am a dishwasher in a casino restaurant, but I don’t get to do a lot of dish washing to begin with. I’ll get to why in a bit.
We’re in the middle of summer, and I have had multiple nights of not getting to go home until it’s nearly 3 in the morning. I clock off at 2 most nights, and I’m supposed to work shifts that go until midnight. I am tired, and it helps to get my breaks when I can. That leads on to my other coworker, who I’ll call N.
N is an older fellow in his sixties, and tends to take his breaks whenever, even when it’s bad. He’s too old to be able to do much else other than do dishes, but he does a good job at them. The problem? Whenever N gets to work at another station another kitchen over, he refuses to help put away dishes he washes. He makes stacks so high it’s a risk to pull any carts out to the main kitchen to put them away. He rarely does anything else other than dish washing when he can get away with it, and he gets frustrated whenever anyone other than him does the dishes. I know, because he’s talked behind my back with coworkers who are friendly with me and tell me what he says.
To be fair, in the past he had a stroke, which I know is a serious case. It impacted his ability to hold things somewhat, so I took on most of everything that happens in dishwashing to help him recover. That was months ago, though, so he’s had time for that and more.
Tonight is a hard night. N went out of his way to only stay at the side kitchen, as our main kitchen’s washing machine isn’t working. He’s only washing dishes, while I’m taking trash out, getting heavy carts to take the floor mats out for cleaning, putting away dishes that get cleaned, bringing over dishes that are piling up that need to be cleaned, organizing them so we don’t get any insane piles that risk crashing into the floor and breaking - our other staff don’t know how to not make crazy piles that risk dishes breaking - and on top of that I only got one chance to sit tonight for a meal.
N? He’s sat down for five breaks, 2 being official and 3 unofficial breaks. I’ve caught him doing this waiting for me to bring dishes over to the side area to clean them and put them away.
I’ve tried asking for breaks when he does this, as he has done this type of thing before already. It should be fair for me to have at least a ten minute break, but I’ve been called lazy for it. I’m furious, as I doubt that I will be allowed to go take my other break, while N has been carefree all night just putting dishes in a machine and stacking things high and senselessly. AITA for wanting a break when my coworker tends to slack nearly all day whenever I’m around?
Additional information. Apparently, N does this same routine even when he’s alone. He makes other chefs and cooks come help him put stuff away even during busy days when they run out of silverware, plates or pans. His antics don’t change, and N has said he does this so he can run the clock and get overtime.

2023.06.05 07:57 LessPlum2168 I resent my family
I’m going to keep ages somewhat vague because I’ve seen seeing so many of these posts end up on tiktok, and both of my siblings use the app religiously. I (later teens), have a younger brother and an older sister (she’s in her late twenties I think). I’m sorry if this is kind of a mess, I’m pretty tired.
My family is the definition of dysfunctional. Nobody communicates, nobody helps one another, it’s just everyone on survival mode. And I’m the biggest victim of this. I’ve always been the black sheep of the family; I get picked on and yelled at the most when something mildly inconvenient happens. I cant even begin to recall how many times I’ve had to sit through the same “I do everything around the house” cryfest from my mother when she blows up and screams at anyone who even tries to help. We all just wait for the next tantrum on baited breath, and even then we’re all against one another still. Unravelling every family member’s flaws would take forever, which is why I found a rather comical comparison. Excluding my sister and her family from the picture, my family is like family guy. My father is lazy and doesn’t do anything to contribute. He just complains and complains. My mother is irate and overall a shitty person. My brother is the golden child who gets treated slightly better than me, and I have all my achievements and aspirations spat on and belittled in a “shut up Meg” type of way. I promise you I merely say this to try and cope by joking.
My mother is the most abusive to me. She always has been. She refuses to cut my hair despite how much I beg. My hair is naturally extremely thick, and my entire body aches after trying to wrangle it in showers. There’s been times I’ve nearly blacked out from how much effort I put in trying to keep it semi presentable. When it got really bad she would make an effort to embarrass me and shame me, and would yank on it with the brush. I had to hold back genuine screams of agony. It got to a point where I cried in the shower from the relief I felt when I had it cut. The problem is that it grows back really fast and it’s already getting hard to take care of again.
My brother and father are just useless. They belittle the women in the house and do nothing but eat and play video games all day. No matter how much we beg them to help, they do nothing. My father is an angry and abusive man. He’s not physically abusive, but he’s neglectful and verbally assaults anyone who makes him feel insecure. He’s a pathetic manchild and he’s teaching my brother to be the same way.
My sister has made everything worse. I’m always teetering on hating her guts and loving her. It makes me so angry. She’s had children when she was in a poor financial situation, and it’s come back to bite her on the ass big time. She’s stuck with a boyfriend who is also a manchild raising genuinely psychotic children. She recently moved to my state and stupidly decided to have a third child while already trying to financially recover from moving across the country just to live close to us. Now they’re at rock bottom struggling to find a home and are forced to live with us, making this house chaotic and a nightmare for my easily overstimulated ass. I hate her children, they make huge messes and bring home countless viral infections which have left me bedridden during most of my leisure time, and it’s driving me nuts. And their pets have done nothing but worsen my already bad allergies. Im miserable. My life is hell. I have no possible way of escape and sometimes I just consider running away to make it all end. All of these people are bigots and would disown me and leave me homeless if they learned I was queer, which is a death sentence where I live now. I try so hard to be the level-headed moral compass and the most accepting person, but it’s just so damn tiring. I live in constant paranoia, fear, and misery. I just wish my family was normal. I wish I had a clean home and am accepting family that lets me hang out with my friends. I know I sound selfish but I want to be allowed to play games like my brother too, I want to be able to go to restaurants and have things that actually cater my interests, and not the interests of everyone else around me. I hate spots, I hate guns and America and salt life, and yet it’s all they get me. None of that is nearly as important as the more toxic aspect of my family, but it’s still upsetting. I feel more like an accessory than a living, breathing human being. I just want to get out.

2023.06.05 07:35 Advali Currently at a crossroad with my career or job. I don't know if I should leave or risk it...
I'm currently employed (regular) at a local company for 6 years now, earning 6 figures and has great benefits as well. The problem is that type of work I'm doing. I do love the company and the culture and I never had an issue with other employees, even my division head is a saint (well maybe 1 or 2 during pandemic) but in those 6 years, I never really had any growth career wise. Wala akong specialty/specialization basta kung san san lang napapadpad.
For instance, I just find my self being onboarded sa isang project na wala akong knowledge and with a very late notice (usually dahil wala silang makitang replacement for an employee na nagresign). I find myself doing various projects, learning on the job (grabe pa yung pressure) and then off to the next naman afterwards pero kada new project, new technologies pa din not the ones na expertise mo kaya afterwards nalilimutan ko na agad. I haven't even had any trainings at all sa bilis ng turnaround time ng mga projects and I often find myself in a fight or flight mode whenever there's a new project but I just keep that to myself just to keep the morale high sa team that I'm leading (either client side or within the company or third party ng company).
I do get awards and commendations from the company and sa client side but there's no incentives/raise/bonus. The last one I got, GC lang for a restaurant sa MoA na di ko naman mapupuntahan kasi way way way way north ako. The job is very stable but I never got any raise at all. And now I find myself doing sales as well as the backend for a technology na again wala naman akong alam or training.
Just a few months ago we had a meeting with a large bank for a potential project and guess what, nilaglag agad ako ng higher ups during the meeting as "the expert" daw pagdating sa technology na gagawin and next week agad, need to coordinate na with one of the foreigner na higher ups na super technical sa client side to resolve an issue. I mean lagi na lang ganto cycle and nakakainis lang yung biglang laglag ka agad as the expert kahit wala kang alam tapos hindi mo naman sila pwede icorrect sa client during the meeting as this is a potential revenue for the company. Ok lang sana if di ako yung alay. But even so, I do love the company as this was the most stable job I had for a very long time and I could even see myself retire here kung di lang sa quirks ng position ko.
So eto na, parang wala lang, I just tried applying for other companies pero di naman ako totally committed or serious about it as alam naman natin mahirap makahanap ng high earning job with great benefits tapos regular pa. I don't know, probably got triggered from the last meetings I had siguro or something. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, subukan ko lang as wala naman mawawala and then find myself doing some interviews and exams afterwards with a nothing to lose approach. Even kept my ermitanyo look on interviews kahit foreigner.
Then eto na a few weeks later, here comes the offers that I was not expecting. I got an offer from a former client company (but I can't kasi may less than year pa before pwede as per their agreement with our company and ayoko din dun as very problematic and high pressure) and another 2 offers from different companies with offers around 50-60% more than I'm earning at the moment and with more or less the same benefits. Technical position for a technology na wala akong expertise or kaalam alam. Sabak na daw agad yan, walang training.
I don't know pero parang may "Failure to launch" syndrome na ata ako as I've been comfortable naman with my current company or siguro may fear ako lang that I'll be doing the same BS job on the next company and just find myself constantly on a fight or flight mode kahit I'll be earning more. I mean, di ko alam if I'll even thrive there or how do I BS my way around the new job and if I resign naman later sa new company, may fear pa din na baka mas mahirap maghanap ng work since I have something to lose na. Ayoko naman magsisi na sana dapat di na lang ako nagresign sa previous company, stable naman ako dun. Also problema ko din, I'm loyal to a fault. Yan siguro weakness ko. I'm probably happy kahit knowing na I've stagnated and wala talagang growth sa company as long as I get to enjoy my life as is. I've asked for a raise recently, baka sakali lang but since the company is recently doing layoffs due to the inflation, my chances are slim although wala naman issue with the job security due to my job performance.
The 2 companies are atleast lenient as they are giving me around 2 months to decide but If I don't act fast at the same time, baka mawala din yung opportunity. I haven't even resigned yet. I don't know if I should YOLO it na so I'd have a month to prepare or something. But I'm a pussy so di ko maalis yung fears that I've mentioned.

2023.06.05 07:13 Brave_Grocery3515 Indian Restaurant Suggestions
My boyfriend has never had Indian food and my experience with it is very slim (I’ve only had takeout from Tandori Fusion a couple times and got the chicken tikka masala both times that i remember) I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a good restaurant to try! I would go to Tandori Fusion with him, but it is a bit out of the way as I now live between downtown and campus and the only one I know of is out near Crestwood. I am willing to go out of the way, though, if it means his first experience will be at a good restaurant :)

2023.06.05 07:03 Wonderful-Decision88 Superboy short story.
It was cold, or was it hot? Conner couldn’t really tell anymore. Each day he could feel himself weakening. Each day he could hear less of the people outside and more of the madness inside.
Bang.
Bang.
“Dinner time.” A guard opened the door. Baton in hand, smirk always on play.
Syringe in hand, the guard did what he always did. He didn’t need to do it, not anymore, Conner was too weak to even stand up most days. He did it because he felt strong. He remembers Lex would do the same thing sometimes, he remembers Lex doing those things like he’d done them too.
Conner would try to fight back in any way possible, but he was always too slow. It always ends in torment and despair anyway, why should he try anymore?
The guard slips him a sedative, and then everything goes black.
-Line Break-
When Conner wakes up, he always expects something other than the red tint he’s used to seeing. It’s like all he can see is red.
At first, it wasn’t as bad.
But the red sunlight made sure to block anything else from coming in. No yellow sunlight, no powers, at least that was what everyone else thought.
If it’d been a year ago, Conner would’ve been able to bust out of this cell with a flick of the risk and some mildly focused concentration. Now, he wasn’t even sure if he could lift a fork, never mind telekinetically open and then crushing a door.
Ding.
Ding.
Ding.
Conner’s eyes widened, he knew what was coming next, at least he knew what type of pain he was going to feel, he wasn’t sure how but he was going to feel it.
He was too weak to make a sound. The only thing that escaped his lips was the heavy breathing of a man being slowly killed, and then not.
They made sure to pump just enough artificial stimulant into his body, just enough so he would stay alive, just enough so that they could experiment more.
After the treatment would sit there, in his tattered suit, with his leather jacket, on the ground ,tormenting him. Thinking and whispering to himself, “Superman’s invincible, so I’m invincible, Superman’s gonna save me.”
Then he remembers that Superman does not remember.
He breaks all over again.
-Line Break-
They’ve kept him in a bigger cell, Conner can hear Waller, she’s been planning something big, but he doesn’t know what yet.
He keeps telling himself that Superman would never break, that he’s not Lex Luthor, that he wouldn’t do the things that Lex would but he knows it’s all for nothing.
The doors open and Conner can feel the strain of kryptonite already. He gets up steadily, conserving as much strength as he can. He sees a syringe with yellow liquid running through it.
Conner feels like a drug addict. He's always waiting for his next fix of yellow sunlight. They never give him too much, just enough to supersede the effects of kryptonite. From who Conner sees in front of him, he knows he’ll need a lot more than one injection.
Metallo grins, “been a while kid, ready for round two?”
Conner sees a beaten up sword in front of him, he looks behind to see his leather jacket.
Conner’s eyes harden, not speaking a single word, he picks up the sword.
-Line Break-
Conner is able to hold his own against Metallo, he can feel himself getting a little bit stronger day by day.
The injections are getting more frequent as well. The injections make his aura stronger, he feels like he could pick up a truck, if he tried enough. He could, but he can’t. He’s savoring every last bit of his aura that he can muster, he never knew that he could do this, stockpiling T.K. energy.
Conner smiles for the first time in months.
The doors open, Conner doesn’t spot a sword there anymore. Instead of one sword and one vial, he sees two vials.
Conner grins again.
-Line Break-
Amanda Waller has had her hands full with Conner Kent. She needs him to be perfect, perfect for her. The world isn’t ready for what she has planned, but what she has planned is what the world needs.
Clark Kent, Jonathan Kent, they are what the world wants. The perfect, most ideal alien saviors, so human that they are more so than anyone else.
Amanda grins, don’t humans make mistakes? Don’t they get angry? She can see the signs in Conner, he’s getting hungry, for more. For more power.
She will make him into the perfect Superman. She will make him into her perfect Superman.
-Line Break-
Conner’s almost ready, he just needs one more vial. His T.K. is far more effective when he’s in physical contact with someone, he isn’t just Clark, he’s Lex, he’s Conner.
He knows what Metallo’s weakness is. Conner wouldn’t kill anyone, Ma’ and Pa’ taught him differently.
Conner's face remains as stoic as Kal’s. He wouldn’t kill anyone, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t hurt anyone.
Conner looks at his leather jacket for a good minute, he speaks his first word for the first time in months, “hope.”
-Line Break-
Conner can see the two vials on the tray, it’s just three feet away from him.
His face was calm, cold and calculating. Not like a drug addict, but a prisoner, a desperate warrior, a slave looking for a way out.
Conner had already found it.
The two vials of sunlight supplements were then placed into syringes. When the injection pierced Conner’s skin, he could feel the energy welling up in him, strengthening his tendons, keeping him from starving.
Metallo had that same stupid grin on his face. A robotic kryptonite green eye began to shine violently.
Conner knew what to do, conserve energy, every moment might make him set off some of his T.K. aura. He ducked, rolled, and dodged.
He closed the distance between them until he was just an inch away from touching Metallo’s robotic half.
Conner didn’t smile, he thought he would, but he didn’t. His face was as calm and stoic looking as ever.
What Conner did do however, was say something all to familiar, “touch down.”
With contact Metallo went flying. Conner put a little too much into that blow. Metallo was smoking.
Conner stayed stoic.
With one final breath he let it all go.
-Line Break-
Releasing a T.K. an explosion of that magnitude required a great understanding of how his abilities, more specifically ability worked. His telekinesis worked by converting his aura into telekinetic energy. The closer someone is, the less aura Conner would have to expend.
So Conner thought that if he stockpiled enough of his aura, and then consequently let go of it all in one, singular explosion, he might be able to shake things up a bit.
Conner guessed that he was underground. What he did not guess was the magnitude of his T.K. explosion.
He supposed that compressing, and storing all of the aura may have caused it to develop some more explosive properties.
Conner didn't know how much damage he did, but he knew he did enough to get some sunlight to fall on his face. It was the morning, thank Rao for the morning.
One direct beam of sunlight wasn’t going to instantly shoot Conner right back to his prime, but with enough T.K. aura and concentration, flight was more than possible.
It might’ve been stupid, it might’ve been the worst decision he had ever made but he knew that he just had to do it.
To prove to himself maybe, or just to stick it to Waller, either way he would get it done.
With speeds faster than what a normal man could accomplish, Conner sped over his old cell. Not as near as fast as he used to be, but fast enough.
He spotted the jacket on the bed, grabbed it, and then zoomed back to the nearest point of direct sunlight in the now desecrated building.
“Hands in the air Superboy, we don’t need this to get bloody.” Waller had a gun aimed at Conner, one with a green glow emanating throughout.
Conner was already hovering a few inches off the ground, not enough to be noticeable, but enough to give him a head start.
“Kryptonite bullets, really? You could probably kill me with a kitchen knife with how I’m feelin’ right now.” Conner made sure to give her his best boy scout smile.
“I’m not trying to take any chances.” Even now, she still believed she was doing what was best for the earth. Conner remembered Lex felt like that too, sometimes if not all the time.
With one final breath, Conner was gone.
Waller dropped the gun, “did we at least manage to clone him?”
A scientist who was assessing Metallo responded, “yes but…”
“But what?”
“With all that kryptonite in his system, it tainted all of the blood samples we were able to secure.”
“So?”
“We managed to clone him but every single clone had an average life span of two minutes and thirty seven seconds.”
“How many more samples do we have again?”
“None.”
Waller then proceeded to say some very unsavory words to the scientist.
-Line Break-
Conner had missed this, flying with the sun on his face.
He could almost feel the kryptonite burning out of his system. He used to hate that he was a clone, then he came to terms with it, now he was loving it.
If it weren’t for his T.K Conner wasn’t sure where he’d be right now.
Still he was barely managing to keep it together, he only had enough yellow sun radiation in him to fly, and not very fast either, hell if it weren’t for his T.K. he wouldn’t be able to fly as high as he was right now.
He just needed to find a nice spot to crash land. Maybe Hawaii?
Yes, that was it. A nice place to get his nerves together before flying back to the fortress. He was still sure that there was some kryptonite left in his sys…tem.
The forgotten man of steel, the original Superboy, plummeted to the dry deserts of Arizona.
Conner looked toward where he was about to crash land, “at least I’ll get plenty of sun.”

| Petite Jupiter is my best friend. Ethan Fadely is my best friend. Atlas Rogue is my best friend. Perfect Quarter Non-Title Champion vs Champion: FBE Television Champion Cactus Mike vs FBE Junior Heavyweight Champion Paddy Murphy The sky was pink, London was rowdy, and our first match was banging. Two of the most adored current champions in the company butted heads in a dream interdivision exhibition, leaving the fans rather torn on who to cheer for, The Ark’s animals making elephant noises for their Cactus buddy, and the Dojo section doing some awfully racist Japanese impressions. There’s never been a more 50/50 split before, and rightfully so, both men bringing the heat to Twickenham. The New Hardcore Legend lived up to his moniker even without the weaponry, beating the planks out of the World’s Most Wanted as evidence for the four defences already to his name, but as always, when you back Paddy Murphy against the wall, that’s when he shines the brightest, crashing down upon Mike with blinding lights like he’s The Weeknd. With Sensei’s teachings reverberating in his ear, it was a strong start to the night for The Sham-Rock N’ Scot Connection as Murphy’s Law was enacted on the sinking boatsman! Paddy Murphy def. Cactus Mike (F) Petite Jupiter Invitational: Arslan Malik vs Ferdinand Maxim vs Guy Fawkes vs Mr. Calcote Miller vs Vix Five Guys. Did you know that’s a restaurant? They’re not meant to be here in England. If you see one, it’s been illegally imported. That left these people mad. They were hungry. Oskar Leube BBQ hours. Learn how to cook, Corey Youngblood. Who can win a Nando’s gift card??? Like anyone deprived of food, these five tapped into their inner cavemen, banging their chests and ready to tear any available meat off the bone. It was cannibalistic. It was gory. It was beautiful. Vix and Arslan Malik hit the deck first, swashbuckled off into the ocean. Guy Fawkes was next, his surname betraying him, no bonfire for him. Boiling down to the Frenchman and the World-Class Working Class Gentleman, England had its clear favourite, cheering on the Liverpudlian, but this wasn’t the 2019-20 Premier League. Oil money was here to save the day, Le Prince de Paris taking home a massive win back to his hexagonal homeland! Ferdinand Maxim (6) def. Mr. Calcote Miller (5), Guy Fawkes (3), Vix (2), Arslan Malik (2) Mark Steel vs Michael Menzies II Mark Steel. Famed telephone pole hater. Liam O’Connor’s best friend (fake Irishmen!!!). He was finally back in action after fending off the Taliban to take on a mortal enemy from the same pond, Scottish Hero Michael Menzies. The last time he fought the Junior, he put a feller called Kalamity in his place, showing him how Death to Juniors cruelly rules his painfully insignificant existence. But then Michael discovered the meaning of true friendship. Steel was screwed (pun). Watching his friend beat the odds in the opener was all the motivation the Future-Proof needed to kick DTJ’s door off its hinges and beat Mark over the foot with a bedpan in the ER, hatred being translated into excruciating levels of agony both ways. When they found themselves on their last legs, the hometown UK laddie knocked the breaks off Peak Performance, Menzies avenging his cold Spring by injecting further warmth into his Summer! Michael Menzies (15) def. Mark Steel (7) Simon Brown vs Kentaro Sakamoto vs Travis Broski Three cool dudes with attitudes. This is not a restaurant. But this is a banger all the same, no mash needed. All getting their big breaks through tournaments, they found themselves in a league of their own here to crown which of them holds the most potential to rule the Blitz lands one day, smashing each other’s heads into canvases and destroying buttons on their controllers to make their efforts known. Obligatory Fire Pro Wrestling World reference. This match was not for the faint of heart (PC gamers) as real men did real men things like they’re William Regal. Simon Brown made it all look too easy the buttery-smooth competitor he is, but butter can both be sliced through, or for those Republicans with guns, shot through. Guess what Kentaro Sakamoto did? Boom. No more gun control in England. It’s Anarchy in the UK. It’s Sex Pistols. WAITWAITWAITWAITNONONONONO. Famed Undercity Underdog has done it again. He’s snuck in from the back of the race when everyone thought he’d be the next victim of a licence to kill, deporting the competition to win! Brock Lesnar was here. Travis Broski (11) def. Kentaro Sakamoto (7), Simon Brown (4) Unadulterated Quarter James Scott vs Jason Beggs He went from undesirable to ir-goddamn-resistible. He is Jason Beggs and he wants to fight (Fit Finlay gimmick infringement). He’s not settling for the little koi in the ponds though. He went fishing for the big one. He reeled in an entire James Scott. And thus, the fate of humanity hung in the balance. Did Jason bait him in successfully? Did James’s 1000 word-long title do the trick? Can Beggs pronounce salmon? Will Ospreay can’t. Can Scott pronounce salmon?????? This was the end of what we used to know, a once young phoenixed Beggs on the cusp of greatness by spreading his wings over the accomplished inaugural Lifeline Classic winner, wanting another feather in his cap. The Purest Protagonist wasn’t about to let the story not be about him though, trying to give Jason brain damage if it meant remaining relevant, though even with his brains turned to mush, his spirit wasn’t, Beggs bursting through Scott to infinity and beyond! That’s what’s up. Jason Beggs (13) def. James Scott (6) Battle of the Best II: DTJ (Misery, Hunter Maguire, Joshua Epps) vs PROVINCE (Sebastian King, Erick Koeman, Karma) vs The RISE (Ripley, John LaGuardia, Victor Williams) This is the greatest match of all-time. Firestorm 81 can go die. These 9 men did it infinitely better. DTJ. PROVINCE. The RISE. The goddamn future of our industry. 3 of these even have the chance to main event BTE this year. One of these was in the Shining Light League Finals. Another was in the Punish & Crush II Finals. One dominated the Junior Division for record-breaking lengths after winning the Gedo Classic III, two won the Television Championship and another one may do so soon. This was drama at its finest. An utterly insane sprint Dragongate-style with enough hot tags to cook an entire steak. These 9 made me love wrestling again. Competition remaining tight as ever until the final whistle was blown, no one left here a loser, but DTJ sure cemented themselves as trophy-worthy, taking home the second Battle of the Best in Misery’s home country! DTJ (Misery, Hunter Maguire, Joshua Epps) (9) def. PROVINCE (Sebastian King, Erick Koeman, Karma) (7) and The RISE (Ripley, John LaGuardia, Victor Williams) (4) EED vs JOHN These are two freaks of nature. They don’t make professional wrestlers like these anymore. A skull-screwing, bone-breaking history-maker who competed in the first FBE match ever of both a Firestorm and PPV capacity against a lady-fainting, no-nonsense hunk of a brute who’s been leading his own rise through the pages of encyclopaedias, turning everyone into his playthings. This was big. This was meaty. And they damn sure slapped each other to oblivion and back. JOHN, looking to take the ALL CAPS throne for himself, took the fight to his predecessor, yelling that the future is now, old man. The Notorious wasn’t walking off into the night that easy though. He knows of the Long Knives. All risks will be taken to avoid a repeat. Pummelling each other with such intensity to make even Stan Hansen take a few paces, these two physical specimens wore each other down to fine granules of sand, with the Misfit stomping the OG back to the past! JOHN (16) def. EED (6) Regal Quarter Nate Matthews vs T.M Imran It’s T.M Imran time, baby. PRIMETIME forever. Capital STEEZ loves him. Ethan Fadely loves him. Conor Cassidy loves him. But Nate Matthews had no love for the Pakistani. He didn’t want no Biryani nor Nihari. He wanted to stomp out the fire of the Fifth Asian Tiger. Pouncing on one another like wild animals in the savannas, there was no love lost between these two, bloodlust fuelling their insatiable desires to pack pack kill kill. Imran’s path to immortality required butchering the God Butcher and he was all for it, the fury of Gods in him like Shazam bringing out the best in him, though Nate was never as much as two steps behind even this deep into his veteran years. Giving him the Living Legend treatment, he put T.M through the toughest test of his life, but Imran walked out of it an even better competitor, finally taking down the man who refused to show him respect the easy way! T.M Imran (12) def. Nate Matthews (8) Bong vs Bengt Holm I want you to stop and really think for a second. Can your life get better? Can it get worse? How do we get through each day, closer to the Earth by every second, knowing there very well could be more to life, and yet we painstakingly ignore it? Wake up. It's time to fucking sort yourself out. You take the kids to school yet? Did you even make them breakfast? Do you ever? Did they learn to tie their shoes by themselves or did you show them? Society is crumbling and all we do is type and wank and touch ourselves. Touch something. Something different, something new. Touch grass, feel ass. And that is why I'm officially declaring my support for ma.çé & mån.sôör's 2024 Presidential Campaign. We have to strive to be better, and these two right here are the ones to do it. My god the sex appeal is just off the charts, the fashion? Don't even get me started. They put the rizz in charizzma. It's an out-of-body experience just to absorb a second of the same air that they consume. They say cleanliness is second to holiness, I think they're wrong. I think it's second to the Maximum Male Models. It's time to push them. Bong out. Bengt Holm (16) def. Bong (6) Atlas Rogue vs Ethan Fadely VII This was it. The final frontier in a legendary rivalry between two of the finest wrestlers FBE has ever seen in its 1000+ days. The Godfather of Pure Rules, King Blitz, Atlas Rogue. The Son of the Roses, The Aether Ace, Ethan Fadely. One of the greatest of this match type against 2022’s Wrestler of the Year. Sol Ace was at his deadliest yet here after damn near having his career ripped from him at the hands of Fadely, only the work of the finest surgeon able to patch him back together for this bout to be sanctioned. Ethan, meanwhile, was no less as savage as had been seen in each previous war against one of his most despised people on the planet, emulating his cold-blooded performances at each past New Beginning to put the fear of God into any sensible individual. But for Atlas, sense had left the window eons ago. This man took what was most precious to him and pissed on it. He laughed and mocked and beat King Blitz at his own game. Revenge was not only desirable but necessary. As the cowboys drew their pistols one last time, it was Ethan’s rose-coloured insides spilled on the canvas, Atlas walking off into the Sun, 4-3 in his favour! Atlas Rogue (13) def. Ethan Fadely (10) Excellence Quarter British Rounds: Desmond Caid vs Capital STEEZ VIII Still going, baby. Team Jimmy? Team Steve? Non-Title: FBE World Heavyweight Champion Inferno vs Petite Jupiter III Bloodshed between enemies is undoubtedly hellish, but bloodshed between brothers is the most viscous kind that could ever be found, and the blood which remained between Inferno and Petite Jupiter was the thickest of all. Once holding the FBE World Tag Team Championship together to now treating one another like strangers in the night, an underlying bitterness wafted about the London air, the Aether Ace needing to beat one of two men he’s never been able to, and the Shining Light adamant to bring his brother back from the depths of darkness whilst getting a lick on his championship that’s long eluded him. Even after a year and a half away, PJ turned the clocks back effortlessly against the FBE World Heavyweight Champion, reminding his hometown why he was in the match to crown its first titleholder all those years ago, and especially giving the Brummie Bastard painful flashbacks to each time he failed to block out the light. And yet, even with Jupiter’s seamlessness, something had changed, though not within him. It was Inferno, continuing to perform unlike he has in the many preceding years. Having evolved into his final form – a simply cruel force of nature, tearing through forests of wisdom and saplings of potential – there was no stopping Papa PPV’s wrath, recreating the scenes of the first Carnage Tour as he left his brother for dead! Inferno (16) def. Petite Jupiter (3) FBE Pure Championship: Shining Light League Winner FBE World Tag Team Champion Dr. Logan Wright (c) vs Apeirogone 3rd Defence 3 months of a gruelling Shining Light League and possibly 6 more of deliberate brick-placing have led to this moment. 9 months ago, Dr. Logan Wright captured the FBE Pure Championship for the very first time. 9 months ago, Apeirogone waged his first war on The Ark in his first and only Pure Rules match to date. Whilst Cactus Mike was taken down, two stone pillars stopped the Infinity Ace dead in his tracks, Code Blue and Kaze Tanaka seemingly ending his story. That is, until the final member called his name from the mountaintop. The Ark’s 2023 MVP, the Final Boss of Blitz, the now only two-time Pure Champion looking to make his third defence and sixth overall his most iconic yet, he challenged the Final Boss of FB in his career’s most crucial match yet. And for the first majority of their dream fight, it was shockingly one-sided, the Medicinal Magician enforcing a lockdown on his division, reminding Ape that even for all his incredible accomplishments, this wasn’t his home, nor was it his match to lose. But then, the first glimmer of hope arose. Apeirogone, bounding back like he’s always done, refusing to let an unfamiliar environment get the better of him. But no, he met the Earth again, being forced into the dirt by the unyielding boot of FBE’s Resident Doctor, once more seeming to have him beat. And yet, it still wasn’t over. Channelling otherworldly levels of motivation, Ape simply refused to go out this way on his second lease on life, reminding Logan what the true makings of a Final Boss are. Even when you knock them down, even when you think you have the advantage for the briefest of moments, they’ll cruelly wrench that away from you in a heartbeat. And that’s exactly what the three-time World Champion did here, teaching Wright he still has some ways to go before he’s the all-encompassing Final Boss he desires to be, the veteran once more being the downfall of the Doctor as Apeirogone became the fifth FBE Pure Champion in history! Apeirogone (12) def. Dr. Logan Wright (c) (11) to win the FBE Pure Championship What a goddamn rollercoaster of a show, lads! Incredible work from everyone who participated on one of the biggest Fantasy Booking cards we’ve ever had. With the past, present, and future all gathering to stamp their names into the annals of what will become a grand annual spectacle, you should all be very proud of what you’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish here.
