2023.06.11 03:20 Few_Thought_248 [landlord US NY] Is a lawyer necessary for the county’s court appearance due to not renewing the rental permit on time
I’m a distance landlord and own a property in NY, and I have been renting it out for about ten years.
My last rental permit was supposed to be renewed on July 2022, but I didn’t receive the notice because I moved and didn’t update my address. I also didn’t receive any notice sent to my house in NY or by email. I only knew it because the county’s building department sent me an email recently about renewing my rental permit, and then the house inspector told me that I had a court appearance due. (For not renewing the permit&renting it out without the permit)
I have never been to court, and I’m definitely terrified about it, I talked with Attorney, and they charge $1500 for three court appearances.
I’m working on getting the permit and making changes according to the house inspector’s instructions. My questions are :
How would having a lawyer benefit my case? I asked because I’m on track to get the permit right now and couldn’t think of anything that the lawyer could get me.
In case I’m representing myself, should I ever be like, ‘County didn’t try their best to contact me, so not entirely my fault, ‘ or should I just play the victim card and say I’m just really sorry for all of these, and it’s all my fault.

2023.06.11 03:02 virtual_adam NJ resident/plate with NY license/ID - what to do about ticket and points?
Got an improper passing ticket from a small town in Bergen county. The short version is it’s a single lane each way, very busy 2 way road, when someone stops to turn left, every single car passes them on the right. A cop pulled me over and gave me an improper passing ticket - which I understand is 4 points which sounds pretty serious
I’m ready to go to court and at least talk to the DA, this literally happens hundreds of times per hour. I can sit there for 15 minutes and video a hundred cars, including government, commercial, anyone, doing the same exact thing I was doing. The road will become impossible to drive in if every single left hand turn would stop traffic completely
Except…I never converted my drivers license, and the police officer didn’t seem to point it out. And from my understanding, if I just pay and plead guilty online, I get NJ points which are ignored in NY completely
So these seem like my options
- plead guilty online - pay a lower fine, get NJ points, no one in NY cares about them. But does the insurance company know? And if I convert my license in a few months will it show up then? Or be a clean slate?
- go to court - come to the DA to do what everyone in previous threads seems to do, talk to the DA and pay more money to get rid of points
- go to court - face the judge - tell my story - am I even allowed to show a video of 5 cars per minute every single day doing the exact same thing?
The court part scares me a little in case they get irritated that I haven’t converted my license yet - in that case could they force me to come back with an NJ license within X days so they could make sure to tack 4 points to my new one?
Any advice at all is welcome, I’ve been driving for 20 years and this is the first time I’ve ever gotten pulled over or fined

Hey y'all,
I'm moving from NJ to Lewes, DE (I know, another one, I'm sorry).
Buying a lovely house in Lewes that the current owner built a 400 sqft living room extension.
Current owner swears the contractor pulled the permit when this was done. Sussex county website and tax records both beg to differ (home listed as 1800 square feet, not 2400 square feet as she claims).
Are we screwed? How difficult is it to get a retroactive permits in Sussex county? Anyone have experience???

2023.06.11 02:10 holdmacrotch will UberEats go back to normal by September/October?
I’m a 21 year old college student. I started delivering a few months back as I was in between jobs at the time. I was making so much money that I decided that I’ll just keep doing UberEats full time. I used to make over $150 in 4-5 hours during dinner time on the weekends. (I’m from Hudson County in NJ, so the Hoboken/Jersey City area is a constant hot zone). Last night, which was Friday, I made $35 in about 4 hours. And today I’ve been working for about 3 hours and I’ve only made $18. Wtf is going on? Shit is so bad that I just got a job a MetLife Stadium doing security. (Good gig, pays pretty well and I get to watch concerts and NFL games once the season starts). I was just wondering if you guys think it will go back to normal once schools open back up for the next year?

Alleged boss of DiMeo Crime Family shot and killed in local diner in likely gangland hit
By Joey Bagadonuts
Bloomfield-Alleged boss of the DiMeo crime family, Anthony “Tony” Soprano was gunned down and killed at the popular local eatery Holsten’s last night at about 7:00 pm. Mr. Soprano (47) was eating dinner in a booth with his wife Carmela Soprano and his adult son AJ Soprano. Mr. Soprano’s adult daughter Meadow Soprano, per Essex County police, had also walked into the diner at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses describe a scene of chaos as a single gunshot rang aloud at about 7:06 pm. One witness, who declined to be named, is a Cub Scout supervisor who was at the popular eatery with thee cub scouts at the time: “It was chaos, I saw the heavy set gentleman shot with his face down on the table and blood coming from the back of his head. His wife and kid were screaming and covered in blood. I feel terrible for them.”
Per Essex County Police, other witnesses described the shooter as an Italian looking man in his late 40’s or early 50’s wearing an out of date “Members Only Jacket.” After allegedly shooting Mr Soprano, he calmly walked out the front door. Per local Essex county police, it is unknown if he had an accomplice or a getaway vehicle waiting for him.
Detective Mike Hunt of Essex County Police commented that “This appears to be a professional hit” and is asking for anyone who may have tips on the identity or whereabouts of the shooter.
Sources from the FBI confirm that the murder may be retaliation for the murder last week in Oyster Bay, Long Island of Phillip “Phil” Leotardo, acting boss of the Lupertazzi family. The NJ based DiMeo family and the NY based Lupertazzi family have reportedly been at war which likely resulted in the gangland deaths of Mr Soprano, Mr Leotardo, and the brutal murder last week of high ranking DIMeo associate Robert “Bobby” Bacilieri. Mr Soprano’s alleged consigliere Silvio Dante was also gunned down last week in Lodi and per FBI sources is in a coma.
“Mr. Leotardo was killed in front of his own family, which may explain why Mr Soprano was killed in the same fashion” said an unnamed FBI source. However, both local police and the FBI have no concrete leads on either murder and are concerned that the gangland violence will continue.
Please contact Essex county police if you have any information.

2023.06.10 20:32 k8minesearch Here's 8 years of lyme knowledge before reddit goes
Hi all,
I've had different usernames on my Lyme journey and have been lurking, hanging out, and posting on here for so many years.
I was born & raised in NJ. Bitten by 10-15 ticks in one of the highest lyme rate counties — all in one day. I never got a rash. Didn't develop symptoms. I got sick the day I turned 23.
A few days later, I moved 600 miles away from the area I grew up. I was immediately thrown into some of the worst stress of my life. My mom was being abused, I couldn't find work, I tried working as a stripper (only lasted a day—it was horrible).
I partied like anyone else who was 21 and 22. I liked getting drunk off beer. The final year before I got lyme, I was doing small doses and moderate use of MDMA every other months (never drank during it.)
On the night of my 23rd birthday, I drank like 7 baybreezes through the night. I was pretty damn drunk. Went to bed and woke up feeling funny. I had gotten sick but not hang over sick. It felt like a really bad flu.
And the symptoms kept getting worse and worse.
And kept lasting for weeks, then months.
FULL LIST OF SYMPTOMS I HAD (that went away with time and treatment): severe knife stabbing joint pain, breathlessness, soaking through my sheets at night, UTI problems and crazy amounts of bladder shedding with no actual UTI, hip pain, missing menstrual cycle for 6 months, swollen knees, ear ringing, ice pick headaches, couldn't read because letters would move around a page, and having a several month bout of EBV when I was 25-26, inability to grip or use my hands, pins and needles in various places.
I'm probably missing some symptoms, but its been such a long time now.
FULL LIST OF SYMPTOMS I DEAL WITH DAILY NOW: constant ear ringing (*maybe due to ABX use for embedded UTI as well as lyme), mild and occasional joint pain, mild herxes to new herbals or ABX that last 1-3 days max, can't consume gluten or alcohol, chronic UTI problems currently being treated by a new doctor.
^ It's almost nothing compared to what I dealt with all through my 20s.
Now I'm almost 32 and wanted to share the most important points of how I got better.
Breakdown of physical meds/herbals and medical actions that helped me in order of usefulness:
-Moving out of condo with mold problem
-CBD Oil
-Terry Naturally's Pain relief curamin
-Doxycycline for 1 month (***Early on getting my illness, 1 month of Doxy is what cleared the swollen knees, ice pick headaches
-Finding an LLMD ~4-5 months into my illness
-Going gluten free
-LLMD put me on dong quai and I got my period back in the same month (after 6 months of nothing)-
-cats claw
-NAC
-green tea with chamomile at night
-magnesium before bed is a MUST — at least 800 mg/night)
-Leaving my LLMD at the 8 year mark
-Getting a new remote doctor who wants to take me the rest of the way that my LLMD couldn't figure out
-Allimax x1 a day now
-x1 Biocidin
-Currently on and off a very small dose of Eluthero
Things that helped me get mentally better and live a decent life with lyme:
-Not letting asshole doctors get to my head when they said "Lyme disease, don't you think that's a little too much?"
-Self published a book about some of my painful experiences and it aided me a lot in part of my grieving
-Walk on a daily basis (started as soon as I was able to)
-Switched careers towards things better geared for lyme. Went from teaching to aerospace to copywriting remotely.
-Learned new things

2023.06.10 18:42 somespeculation Harry and Meg’s Montecito Home: Chateau of Riven Rock - financial details, real estate prices and the home’s history. In my opinion, it's not a good investment. Fact checked.
Their home, the Olive Garden Purgatory for Displaced Overseas Royals, was purchased for $14.65mil in an off market sale in June 2020, mortgaged. LA Times Confirmation:
https://archive.ph/QgYkz All of this is from a 'source close to the couple'. The final paragraph is clout listing nearby celebrity homes; final paragraph connecting the house to Oprah's neighbour.
HISTORY - Unsettling Check out it’s true, unsettling history about a mentally ill man who was confined there for decades:

Rockbridge LLC also took out two federal covid loans for under $50,000 in 2021 that appear to have been paid off in full or “forgiven.”
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-180558/https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/rockbridge-llc-santa-barbara The address for Rockbridge LLC is the same as the Wells Fargo in Montecito: 1482 E Valley Rd. Could theoretically have a box there.
Thie Rockbridge LLC shows up a bit with the financial deep dive, but appears to be a bit of a red herring as it only correlates to public record availability pre-Harry and Meg's purchase.
Grishin has since died.
Additional property records for previous owners and their LLCs:

Excellent work by a fellow sinner determined it was purchased via Real Residential Estate Trust whose address is identical to Meg’s business manager at the time in Bev Hills. It can also be searched for on this sub under, "Who Really Owns the Montecito Olive Garden".
https://archive.ph/pnYEU What they’ve said about it: - there is a "stomach churning smell" from a nearby bird sanctuary
https://archive.ph/m0g61 - may not be able to insure and/or insurance is huge due to it being in mudslide zone
https://archive.ph/qzs05 - they are not “over the moon” about it. EAGER TO SELL AND MOVE ELSEWHERE
Confirmed in Jan 2022:
https://archive.ph/8HtsV As recently as Aug 2022, even sympathetic Marie Claire mag is citing a 'source' that they are eager to sell and move.
This article reads like a PR real estate advertisement for the home. https://archive.ph/vjNJt TAXATION DETAILS Tax assessment for 2021 - 2022 is $141,000 roughly. Taxed at a rate of 1.04%….which seems to be more of a business tax rate….ownership intentionally omitted/redacted. Current value of the home assessed at just under: $13.3 mil. The 2021-2022 tax records for their address:
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-175254/https://mytaxes.sbtaxes.org/WebPages/ReportHandler.aspx?ReportRequest=bill/PROD/SEC/202100002021100936611 Interestingly, they are listed as a Prop 13/AB8 which is why their initial taxes were soooo low at 1.04%. This means their property taxes are reevaluated with the current market value of their property as measured by the sale price for change of ownership.

This usually indicates it was a low ball offer significantly below the asking price. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/757027018614924479/ - Netflix Montecito filming home:
Let’s take a moment to fully acknowledge their authentic, “at home” 'documentary' had the majority not actually filmed at their home. Address: 888 Lilac Drive
Value: Listed Dec 2022 for $33.5 mil.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-173046/https://robbreport.com/sheltehomes-for-sale/harry-and-meghan-documentary-compound-lists-1234787523/ This was where they filmed Netflix. It was filmed in another Montecito home they passed off indirectly as theirs, as they never clarified it was not their home during filming their 'behind the scenes'. Harry was likely paranoid about a security risk, whereas Meg likely saw an opportunity for implied flexing. She knows the Olive Garden beige property is dated.
Filmed in a home valued over twice as much as theirs. As of March 2023, still on the market at its original price.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-173844/https://www.mansionglobal.com/articles/inside-the-montecito-villa-where-harry-and-meghan-filmed-their-documentary-25a05f99 - Neighbour’s home #3
Address: 830 Riven Rock Rd. According to Google maps, a 2 min drive or 7 min walk from the Sussexes.
Value: Sold for $14.5mil in Apr 2022.
https://archive.ph/2023.06.04-171250/https://www.redfin.com/CA/Santa-Barbara/830-Riven-Rock-Rd-93108/home/21608407.
IN SUM: - they do own it, via a speculated Meg-created LLC, mortgaged
- they bought it heavily discounted, after multiple markdowns and even rentals
- there are major problems, that they themselves at times continued to publicize
- they are avoiding filming there (Spare interviews at San Ysidro, Oprah interview, Netflix) outside of the 40x40 ball juggling Harry while Meg reigns from her Bench of beige throne.
- their property tax rate is VERY low
No confirmation on if one, both, or neither are living there. However, there are multiple reports swirling that Harry (or Meg) may regularly retreat to a room at San Ysidro Ranch. This includes the thank you card recently publicized for the bike Archie was recently gifted for his birthday, but interestingly publicized a month later, sent from an employee of SYR. Google maps puts it at a. 7 min drive from their address.
Also keep in mind any RivenRock allusions in online accounts, donations, or LLCs....perhaps could be illuminating for who is behind them.
So there you have it. Make of it what you will. submitted by

Irma Olguin Jr. is a 2004 graduate of the University of Toledo. • On Monday, several local public officials, including U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur and Toledo City Council members Nick Komives and Theresa Morris, announced their visit the world's largest sewer treatment plant in Washington D.C. this week. An estimated $800 million upgrade to the Bay View Water Treatment facility in North Toledo, which has not been upgraded since the mid-1980's, is currently being examined by the city. • On Tuesday, the jury trial of former Toledo City Councilman Gary Johnson commenced in U.S. District Court. Local Internet cafe proprietor Nabil Shaheen testified that he cooperated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to execute a sting operation in exchange for leniency in sentencing stemming from a separate bribery case in 2018. Johnson testified that he accepted a $1000 check from an associate of Shaheen's, followed by $2000 in cash from Shaheen directly at a later date, on the understanding that they were for his political campaign and not for him personally. Johnson also testified that these donations were unrelated to his affirmative vote on council for an Internet cafe operated by Shaheen's son. • Also on Tuesday, Toledo City Council reviewed a $4.2 million proposal to reconstruct Alexis and Telegraph roads near a 70-acre industrial park under development at the former North Towne Square site. JobsOhio has provided the city with a $1.5 million grant to aid in the cost. • In further Tuesday news, Toledo City Council reviewed a proposal to allocate $10 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds toward four separate housing projects under way in Toledo.
