2023.06.03 06:18 massiveamphibianprod I'm looking for about 2 to 3ish players to help test my game I've been writing for awhile now.

-the setting is post apocalyptic and below is the books current summery for ya, my time zone is PDT and the preferred age range for testers is 18 to 25 but there is a bit of wiggle room.

-The core book for this Table Top Role Playing Game takes place within the united states of america during somewhere around 2045 about 20 years after the beginning of WW3 the war was started over a mixture of greed, paranoia and rising tensions over the years.
nearing the last few years of the war something weird happened suddenly something has collided with our world causing quickly appearing wormholes then eldritch creatures and cryptids from folklore started appearing slowly at first but suddenly they were becoming a new part of our ecosystem like a invasive species almost around the time of the first appearances is when earth was hit by a powerful solar burst from the sun and fried a lot of our electronics and cut off the world from each other.
When people were struggling from the wastes about a year after the solar burst slowly over a few months creatures from the wormholes appeared now called oxy nets or oxygen networks these weird animal fungal like beings that live within the breathing canals of animals and the root networks of forest started to become compatible with our worlds bio organisms being symbiotic with native flora and fauna.
In 2045 people regained some power and it's now similar to the era of the wild west if they had automatic guns, strange artifacts and limited tech like electricity and rarely computers.

-im planning on just a short one shot for the first test to make sure the basics of the game works including charter creation and you can leave whenever you like but there will be subsequent one shots and i highly encourage you to stress test the hell out of this game.
if you have experience in breaking games and there rules id love if you would do the same here so i can either patch it or have it as a actual play style/mechanic.

-fill out the form below in your comment or DM and ill get back to you about any questions and reports of if your invited to my discord for the test.
-if you help test the project i will put your name in the credits section if you'd like if not i will not name you specifically.

1-(preferred name/pronouns) 2-(age) 3-(relevant experience)[optional] 4-(days/times available) 5-(tell me about yourself)[optional]

2023.06.03 06:16 littlegothspice Does TurnItIn detect false positives based on grammatical errors?

Hi Im a student in college and just finished an essay with a plagerism score of 23%. Im gonna be 100% honest, I bullshitted that essay like a real estate agent making a 3bd 2 ba family home sound like a mansion in Beverly Hills. Looking back on where the damn program cited these lil bits n such, there was an excerpt from an article in the constitution that I quoted in my essay and even wrote “This can be found in The Constitution of the United States of America; insert excerpt here”. The very small, minor, pretty much nonexistent error I made was at the start of the excerpt, I put a closed quotation mark instead of an open one to indicate where the quote is starting at, therefore marking that entire excerpt as a direct copied and past thing 🙃 has this ever happened to anyone? Does TurnItIn detect false positives based on grammatical errors?

2023.06.03 06:13 Cute-University1900 Book Censorships Stand On Thin Ice

The censorship of books happens around the world every year, but the fact that it happens here in the U.S. – a country that brags about its freedoms, with one of them being “freedom of speech” – is flat-out ironic. It is humiliating to the point where the people running this country might as well send the Bill of Rights through a paper shredder.
According to ALA, American Library Association, book censorship has gone up drastically, a 40% increase in the past year. If one were to look at the books being censored today, one would notice a trend: the censorship of anything with LGBTQ+ content, popular issues, and people of color.
Book censorship is not a new thing. To Kill A Mockingbird, a novel by Harper Lee is one of the oldest, most challenged books in the country. Ever since being published in the 1960s, the book faced both love and criticism. In early attempts to remove the book, many campaigns used a part of the story, the rape allegation, and the n-word usage as the reasons to get the book removed from shelves.
Using the rape allegation, a small part of the whole story, as the main reason to get the book removed shows how people do not read the books they challenge. If they did, they would have realized the main focus of the book is not the rape allegation, but the experiences of the main characters as they both grow up realizing the world is not so good and pure after all. Harper Lee’s use of the n-word was not random. Its use made the book a realistic depiction of the America that existed back then and in many ways still exists today. There is no denying that the use of the n-word in the novel can make the readers uncomfortable; in fact, it should be. Being uncomfortable shows that one acknowledges the history of America and a problem ingrained in its DNA – racism. Simply avoiding discomfort out of one's own desire is ignorance at its best. Choosing comfort is to bury the past deep under the soil, praying that it will decay over time when really, it is planting seeds of disaster. If books like To Kill A Mockingbird – books that offer different perspectives into peoples’ lives – are removed from shelves, the people of this country would be limiting their understanding of those around them.
Books that contain LGBTQ+ content are big targets of this censorship. This Book is Gay by Juno Dawson and is on the Top 13 Most Challenged Books of 2022 according to ALA. The book is challenged for being sexually explicit, its LGBTQ+ content and some adults even accusing it of pornographic material. However, the book’s main purpose is to serve more as a manual for those who have questions about sexuality, sex, or gender. In many past interviews, Dawson expressed that as a former teacher in sexual education and wellness, she felt that sex education for the LGBTQ+ community was underrepresented, especially since most of the sexual education taught today centers around a male and a female. Removing a book like This Book is Gay from the shelves, is essentially removing the representation that many people look for in today’s world. When a book like This Book is Gay is displayed on shelves, it is not just a book; for many, it is a beacon of hope.
It is true that some young adult books contain illicit passages, but to accuse an author of writing pornographic material to children is absurd, more or less a stretch. People need to realize that most if not all writers have some sort of relation with children. In the case of author Jean Kwok, she had to come to a Pennsylvania school hearing to speak against the banning of her own book, Girl In Translation. She made a clear point at the hearing that she is a mother, and, as a mother, she asked the board if would she write porn knowing her children would read her books one day?
There are many things people can do to fight against book censorship. It all starts with being more active in the community. Attend local meetings that have a say over the whereabouts of books such as city board meetings and school board meetings. After all, the board members oversee local library operations. Pay attention to the news, especially local news. Most importantly, vote! Not voting can increase the chance of letting a piece of legislation that ultimately harms the public’s interest get passed under their noses. If there is a book that is in the process of being removed from the public, speak up about it at the meetings. Although some states are not as big as other states when it comes to book censorship, it is important to keep it that way. One way residents can do this is by contacting their local representatives and asking them to reaffirm their position on book censorship.

2023.06.03 06:11 Drakolf TftM Graham- The Latra Student

"Councilors, I understand that as one of the original founders of the Hedron Council, that Humans deserve respect. However, unlike the others, they have no clearly defined role in society. What, exactly, do they contribute?" The Latra student asked.
"We understand why you would ask such a question." The Latra Councilor stated. "However, please do understand that Humans do in fact contribute many things to our society. We recognize that the exact nature of these contributions are, shall we say, complicated."
"Complicated how?" The Latra student pressed.
Her class came from the Latraii Sector on the Hedron, and as everyone present knew well, the Latra didn't like going out and about among the more predatory species that commingled in the Central Sector- the fact that the class had armed guards was more due to paranoia than anything else- and thus it was up to her to conduct her interview during the trip, where she felt safe.
"Well, for one, without Humanity, there wouldn't be a Council." The Human Councilor with an unpronouncable name- writing it out with Latraii phonemes didn't make sense, 'Ga-ra-ma', something along those lines- replied. "After all, we won the war against the Canicians [Caniti] and got them to agree to using their superweapon as a colony station."
The Caniti Councilor, Grahim, nodded. "You also effectively halted the Vagraxi Empire's unchecked spread and got them to agree to join the Council- a fact that has enraged everyone and proven to be the correct move- your minds altered the Gixx Mindworld and made them stop their assimilation plans cold in its tracks, brokered peace between my people and the Latrai, and got the Adrati off our backs, and even got them to pay us back for all of those cycles of non-believer taxation."
"The answer, thus, is that Humans don't contribute anything unless it benefits all." The Latra Councilor replied. "Even their most frustrating suggestions, such as the division of vetting between native experts of specific fauna, has prevented another 'rabies incident', and even detected ecologically devastating flaws in other Sectors."
"The Council works best when everyone is willing to work together." The Human replied. "The fact that I've advocated at least once for everyone present- including the Vagraxi- took what has been a damningly [predatory spirit-devouring] frustrating process of getting diplomacy [consensus] to work properly."
The student wrote all of this down. "What future contributions do you expect to make, Human Councilor?" She asked.
The Human Councilor smirked. "Whatever the Hedron needs, no more, no less. But that starts with you, you hear me?"
The Latra student was startled by the sudden ferocity in his voice. "Pardon?" She asked.
"You can't have peace if you're not willing to reach out to people, If you always hide behind others to keep you safe, if you allow yourself to be afraid of kind-hearted people just because they look intimidating, all that does is make you racist [no translation] and unwilling to make the changes necessary for cohabitation and peace."
The Human paused, looking her straight in the eye, like a predator. "My people were the Canicians' [Caniti] prey, we showed them what we're like when our back's to the wall, and we showed them what we're like when we choose peace. Choose peace, and when that fails, choose war."
The student trembled under the Human's words, yet... she couldn't help but feel inspired. There was so much she could write for her school's news feed, yet she'd balked at opportunities that were potentially dangerous. She gave him a determined nod, and then her class moved on.
As her class made its way back to the Latraii Sector, she looked around for the first time, and she didn't see predators down every alley, she didn't see danger in every corner.
She saw a place not too different from her home...

Hola todos. I'm just curious to know what other languages do dreamers in this subreddit plan to acquire once they've all become native level fluent in Spanish.
Assume there is a Dreaming Spanish equivalent owned by Pablo in the language you want to target, that has a clear roadmap, sufficient interesting videos & where you can track your progress through CI.
For me, its Russian, French & Portuguese in that order.
Edit: I just found out you can put only 6 options in the poll. So if you want to learn a language that is not on the poll, escribirlo abajo en los commentarios, vale? Por ejemplo - Korean, Italian, Catalan, Bengali, Hindi, MSA etc.
