2023.06.03 18:54 lordbirbal Summer perfume that has great longivity perfect for travel abroad

I am traveling to Denmark, Prague and Austria for 15 days. I will be walking a lot.
I am looking for a cheap perfume that has a exceptional longivity and doesn't have a strong fragrance. I just want to mask the smell of sweat since I will be walking a lot in the sun. Sillage is not important.
I hate citrusy scents. I am willing to try non-citrusy perfumes. I will be buying 20-30ml decants from sellers.

2023.06.03 18:53 HeyitsCourtneyB 25/EU/PC - Looking for regular people & friends to hang out and play shooters, party games and coop games with!

Looking for gaming buddies - Me and a bunch of friends are looking for more people to join our little squad to play games, hang out, have a laugh, watch movies etc! I play an array of games and I’m pretty much happy to play whatever depending on what other people I’m hanging out with want to play or the mood I’m in. Currently my go to’s are anything multiplayer and fun like Fortnite, Jackbox, Amongus and Fall Guys. I’m also looking at getting back into Valorant and Minecraft. I also like a lot of co-op games like Stardew and grounded. I’m really easy going and just like to have a laugh and have fun. I’d also be happy to play other games, especially if they’re cheap or on xbox game pass!
We’re a pretty chill, easy going and jokey bunch so you’d need to have a similar mindset and not take things too seriously. Most of us are 20+ but we keep our circle to 18+ only. Most of us are a mix of EU and are around pretty much everyday either playing games or just hanging out and enjoying each other's company while doing other things on the side. 2023.06.03 18:52 HearthChampion Double reply card torn and left in mailbox.

So I bought these double stamp cards because my little sister showed interest in writing to me. The idea was she wouldn't have to buy anything and it's very cheap. The recipient simply tears off the top card and mails it back without needing anymore postage. Well the mail person just tears off the top half and leaves it in the mailbox. Completely voiding the entire fucking purpose of having a double card. And like the single cards don't even come attached so it's not like I put it there accidentally or anything. Just so annoyed. I filed a complaint but I'm even more annoyed that it's Saturday and I can't go to the post office and make them give me another one or something.

Going to my first show at star lake on Monday. I've heard a lot about the traffic there being rough and was wondering if anyone has any advice on getting to the venue and back?
Im staying in a hotel nearby Pittsburgh, was thinking about taking an uber but worried there might not be many available. Do Y'all know of any good alternatives?

2023.06.03 18:50 irksomehippo Extended stay hotel deciding everyone needs a lease to stay for more than 2 weeks

We've been in an extended stay hotel for a few months (since our lease was up with our last rental) because we are trying to buy a house and don't want another year lease. The company that owns the hotel hired new management that has been bringing a bunch of changes to the place since we moved in. The most recent is a "lease opportunity," which is mandatory to stay. They are requiring a background check and everything. They are a hotel so I'm confused as to how they can do this. They don't even have mailboxes. Will this affect our buying a house? Or should we start packing to move? Thanks!

2023.06.03 18:49 CarelessCatz Should I buy a house now before it’s too late?

I live in an apartment I rent, me and two cats.
I don’t have anything owned, my family neither.
I work with design in a international company and make decent money. I could use my savings to buy a cheap house before I lose my job and before money becomes meaningless (if that happens).
Never thought of buying a place. But I’m afraid to end up homeless in the near future. I’m in Brazil, if that matters.
Thoughts?

2023.06.03 18:49 QuothTheRaven713 Viv claims "Helluva's more male-focused, while Hazbin's more female focused" to explain why Mille and Loona aren't developed much yet. That would be reasonable if it weren't for the fact Hazbin's pilot has very strong characterization for everyone in the cast.

Yes, I think we can reasonably assume Millie and Loona will get more development as time goes on, since we aren't even halfway through the show's run yet.
However, I can understand Viv claiming that the reason there's less development on their part because Helluva's more male-focused while Hazbin is more female-focused rings a little hollow for some—especially when Hazbin's character cast was rather balanced in terms of what we got from the pilot alone. Everyone got plenty of characterization in what little we've gotten so far.
And before anyone says "oh, it's because Angel and Alastor have a lot of stuff revealed on the wiki and the comics"—let's ignore the Wiki. Ignore the prequel comics. Ignore Addict. Ignore merch. Ignore Q&As.
Ignore everything except Hazbin's pilot.
What do we know about the major characters from the pilot alone?
Considering Viv claims Hazbin is more female-focused, let's focus on the males. If she insists Millie and Loona aren't developed because Helluva is male-focused, then surely the male characters in Hazbin's pilot are similarly underdeveloped, right?
Nope.
We know Alastor is a powerful dealmaker who's toppled overlords. He's charismatic. He's a charmer. He practices voodoo. He lived around the 1930's and was likely a radio host (yes I know he's been confirmed to be outside the pilot, but again, we get a sense of that within the pilot even though it's not explicitly stated). He doesn't believe people can attain redemption and is involved in the hotel for his own entertainment. He's manipulative, and knows how to influence others for his own ends, fixating on coercing Charlie who's more innocent, while dismissing Vaggie who's more strong-willed. The video being distorted by static when he says "I would have done so" indicates he might be able to reach beyond the 4th wall in a way a la Bill Cipher—or at the very least, indicate that he's extremely powerful in ways that make the other characters be at his mercy.
We know Angel is a flamboyant, sassy porn actor, deflecting insults with crass talk. He hits on guys with sexual comments and seems to get a kick out of their reactions. He likes causing chaos with his friend Cherri. He wants a chance at redemption but all too easily slips back into his vices, though him starting to reach out to Charlie shows he wants to change.
We know Husk has connections with Alastor, indicating they interacted at some point in the past, whether when Husk was alive or in Hell. Not only that, he's well-aware of just how powerful Alastor is, as he's the only one who looks completely deadpan at Alastor blowing up Sir Pentious's ship. He's grumpy and gruff. He's a gambler, shown in both his introduction and implied through his design. He has a weakness to drinking, even cheap booze will do. He's put off by Angel's sexual comments. He doesn't expect to find love because he feels he lost the ability to love years ago.
We know Sir Pentious wants to be taken seriously as a threat but is too goofy to be seen as such, essentially being a more steampunk-infused Dr. Doofenshmirtz. He's a skilled inventor as shown by him creating the weaponized blimp. He somehow has enough draw to have the Egg Bois follow him. He prides himself with his style. He's also familiar with Alastor, and when Alastor claims he doesn't know him, Sir Pentious tries to display his power to show just how powerful he is with his machines, even though he's clearly outclassed.
And even with Alastor and Angel being the breakout characters in the fandom, the female main characters are certainly no slouch in the character development department either. We know a lot about Charlie and Vaggie too, and some about Niffty.
Charlie is enthusiastic, bubbly, an optimist to the core. She adores expressing herself through song. She loves her girlfriend. She seeks approval from her parents but feels they're distant at best and see her as a failure at worse. She's dismayed by the injustice in her kingdom and wants to help redeem others, indicating her selflessness. She sees the good in everyone to the point she's willing to give Alastor a chance, but also is genre-savvy enough to know making a deal with someone like Al is a very bad idea.
Vaggie we know a bit less of in the pilot, but even still we know quite a lot about her. She's headstrong. Puts on a very fierce side when she feels there's a threat. Unafraid to brandish a weapon toward those she dislikes. Adores Charlie and doesn't want to see her get hurt but sometimes gets frustrated at Charlie's insistence a song can fix things. She's Latina and slips into swearing in Spanish when she gets upset. She doesn't trust men, and isn't afraid to really threaten Alastor when she feels others might get hurt.
There's a bit less to work with regarding Niffty, but even then we still get some strong characterization. She can switch between being an adorable sweetheart and a scary psychopath at the drop of a hat. She's very intent on making things look nice and orderly. She's very set in gender roles and norms to the point she thinks Ange's a woman. She has some past with Alastor and she seems to enjoy what he does, given her excited look during his reprise. Even for a character who's only on screen for about 30 seconds, we can gleam quite a bit.
We know equally about all the characters, male and female, in Hazbin's pilot alone.
Hazbin isn't even released yet, and already from the pilot alone we know more about everyone, including the male major characters of the "female focused" show, than we have for the female characters of Helluva in 11 episodes (12 if you count the pilot). Viv claims Hazbin is "female focused" and Helluva is "male focused", but in Hazbin everyone, male and female alike, has proper characterization and plenty of aspects of their personality that shine through.

2023.06.03 18:48 kill_head [TOMT] [HORROR MOVIE]

So this movie was on Netflix a while ago and it’s honestly one of my favourite horrors if not movies ever. But I cannot find it ANYWHERE. It’s about this group of 4? People who are investigating the occult, and at the beginning of the movie, they stop to read a map or something along those lines. Whilst they’re looking, they see a woman banging on a parking garage up high looking through a wired wall that usually prevents jumpers. Later you find out that the woman they saw is actually one of the women in the car, and that they were seeing into the future of them trying to warn themselves to turn back. Another part of the movie I remember is when the group discover a cult that is about to sacrifice a girl but they intervene, causing them to be chased and take the girl back to a hotel.
I AM BEGGING TO HAVE THIS FOUND I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SO LONG.

2023.06.03 18:48 ru-dolf Guys I found the most infuriating beeping sound in the universe

Why are you like this, Arctis Nova Pro?
You give me no warning. You keep me blissfully ignorant that the battery is starting to get low. It's like you expect me to read your mind. Then suddenly, you decide you've had enough. Suddenly you start beeping at me, right in my ear. EVERY THIRTY FUCKING SECONDS.
You know, the purpose of a battery alert should be to give advance warning - maybe 10 minutes beforehand - that the product will become unusable. The purpose is not for the alert itself to render the product unusable.
And by the way, every beep this headset makes is unnecessarily loud and harsh and cheap. Every time I put on this expensive premium product, it screams into my ear that it hates me. And I hate it too.

2023.06.03 18:47 Bourbon_n_Cigars94 Shakedown Street?

So my wife and I went to our first show in ATL (pretty much life changing) and loved the pre show shakedown. It was so fun shopping around, talking with people and eating/drinking good cheap food. With this being the only show we can go to on the tour, I was wondering if any other jam bands have something similar to Shakedown Street?

2023.06.03 18:46 dreamingofislay Feis Ile 2023 Day Eight - Ardbeg Day Recap (6/3)

Feis Ile 2023 Day Eight - Ardbeg Day Recap (6/3)
That's a wrap, folks! Feis Ile 2023 has been an incredible experience, and it ended with a bang on Ardbeg's open day today.
The chosen crew for Operation Smokescreen, a free single-cask tasting panel
  • Ardbeg Committee members could enter a lottery for a free experience called "Operation Smokescreen" in the runup to the Feis. I signed us both up, and my wife won a place! Here's what she could disclose to me. During the Operation, the fortunate 50 or so fans entered an elaborately decorated mad scientist's lab, where they tried samples from five Ardbeg single casks and Ardbeg 10 at cask strength. The mad scientist in question was Gillian Macdonald, the company's master blender. Working in teams, the lucky ducks offered tasting notes on the five casks using Ardbeg 10 as a reference point. My wife guessed that the Ardbeg crew will blend these cask types to make a new expression, perhaps an upcoming Committee release.
  • This year's open day single cask release (495 pounds) was an 11.5-year-old whisky aged in a first-fill amontillado sherry cask. Even at that steep price, the line was massive, and it kept up all day, never letting up as new arrivals joined in. I saw stray bottle flippers grabbing as many as they could and then immediately leaving festival day, which is a real shame.
  • I missed Bruichladdich and Bunnahabhain days doing activities at other distilleries, but I cannot imagine anyone does it better than Ardbeg. Their day is a fitting capstone to the week because they go all out. Elaborate decorations (this year, giant green octopus tentacles hanging from the windows, and comic panels all over the walls); staff in sci-fi and superhero costumes, along with savvy guests; and by far the most activities and games of Feis week. The entry ticket was 10 pounds but was a bargain: two drams, a "smokie" (a smoked fish), a mini-glencairn glass, and a scavenger hunt-style game that could earn another dram. And the crowds were the biggest we saw all week, by far.
  • Aside from offering the whole core range and the Heavy Vapours festival bottle as those two included drams, Ardbeg also had a cash bar with very reasonable prices for rare or pricey whiskies, including Ardbeg 25 for 20 pounds and Supernova 2014 and other old Committee releases or Feis bottles for 10 pounds. The bartenders also had very heavy hands. A single pour was enough for my wife and me to split, with me filling up a 20 ml sample bottle and still having leftovers to nose and sip. There was also a fun game of chance where, for five pounds a play, we drew a surprise dram from a set of small mailbox-like lockers. The pours ranged from the standard Ardbeg 10 up to Twenty-something, Renaissance, Alligator Committee Release, 25, etc. In our three plays, we got the Heavy Vapours, 8-year-old For Discussion, and Traigh Bhan 19-year-old Batch 4. Not too bad!
  • There were tons of games and activities. One of our favorites was a comic workshop where people could draw this year's "Heavy Vapours" villains or heroes (from the Planet Ardbeg comic book series) on merchandise they purchased at the gift shop. In my wife's case, she got a free lab coat from Operation Smokescreen and later added her own hand-drawn touch to it.
The angry smokecloud residing in every bottle of Heavy Vapours
  • In contrast to other distilleries, Ardbeg festival day tastings are booked day-of. We jumped on the 1:30 tasting, led by distillery manager Colin Gordon and two employees, including Emma, our tour guide from yesterday. The tasting covered (1) new make; (2) Heavy Vapours; (3) Blaaack; (4) Supernova 2014; and (5) this year's Amontillado single cask. The price was 50 pounds, up from 40 pounds last year, and was held outside thanks to the spectacular weather. While it was nice, it was also mobbed - there must have been over 70-80 people in our tasting group. The pours were well worth the cost, although I preferred other experiences earlier in the week with smaller groups or more organization.
  • We saw the swan couple again alongside the Ardbeg pier. Throughout the week, they proved themselves more dedicated festival attendees than we were.
  • Note from last night: Lucci's Bar at the Bowmore Hotel is another iconic Islay watering hole, and Peter is an absolute encyclopedia of whisky knowledge. The bar had live music on Friday night; we left around midnight to a heartwarming rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
  • Looking back at my notes, I tried 85 whiskies in 8 days on the island, so I'm ready for a vacation from this vacation. We're heading to Skye next and will visit three more distilleries in the next week or so, but nothing like this pace (thankfully).
Farewell to another spectacular week with the best whisky-makers in the world
Ardbeg Heavy Vapours Festival Bottling - This is the 46%, slightly diluted version of the Committee Release we tried yesterday, but it's very similar. It has a dry presentation missing some of Ardbeg's brighter fruit notes, so it almost seemed to have a hole in the middle of the palate. I'm not a big fan, so I wasn't tempted by its 120-pound price tag.
Ardbeg 8 y.o. For Discussion - I'm wondering why Ardbeg would release an 8-year-old whisky, but it's hard to complain about a new, age-stated, higher ABV (50.8%) Ardbeg at a fair price of 60 pounds. This pretty much tastes like a champion's breakfast of a lemon muffin and two cigarettes. If released in America, we'd call this "Ardbeg Bottled in Bond." Good stuff.
Ardbeg Blaaack Committee Release - Alright, hello, this is different. This has lots of ripe orchard fruit, berries, and other rich flavors. On the finish, moreso than on the nose, I get a healthy dose of vanilla. Subsequent sips got more acidic and less pleasurable.
Ardbeg Supernova Committee Release 2014 - This whisky epitomizes what it means to be peaty, not smoky. This whisky is a blend of very peated barrels (or barrels that expressed that character more than normal), but the type of peat is a vegetal, floral, and earthy melange, not the ashy smoke typical of Ardbegs. It's surprisingly mellow on the palate, and on one particularly good sip, there were hints of Boston cream donut on the finish.
Ardbeg 11 y.o. Amontillado Single Cask Feis Ile 2023 - In watches, one way to distinguish between quartz watches and mechanicals (which are more of a luxury item) is by the movement of the seconds hand. Quartz watches tick, while mechanicals have a sweeping, smooth motion. But some super-high-end mechanical watchmakers include a feature called a "dead-beat" seconds hand, which ticks like a quartz watch. So for an extra $10,000 or $20,000, that feature makes a very expensive luxury watch look, in one way, like a regular quartz. That wasn't just random wristwatch trivia, folks; it was a very long metaphor for the fact that this single cask tastes a lot like my favorite bourbon, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It has a very oaky but sweet nose, and then a mix of fruit, brown sugar, and more charred wood on the palate before wrapping up with a dried-fruit-and-oak finish. On the one hand, I love every part on it. On the other hand, why would I pay $620 for a scotch that tastes like my favorite $80-100 bourbon? This is the dead-beats seconds hand of the scotch market.
Ardbeg Traigh Bhan Batch 4 - I started getting palate exhaustion by this point. This dram seemed very subtle and balanced, especially in this day and age when almost all Ardbegs are well under 10 years old. The dried glass surprised me with a distinct deli ham note when we got home from festival day. This is a savory Ardbeg, and pretty different than the original Traigh Bhan from 2019.
Ardbeg 10 Cask Strength - OK, one quick pour at home, just to confirm this is as good as I would expect. It is. The "soot and fruit" core character of Ardbeg shines through. Yesterday, I almost asked our tour guide yesterday whether Ardbeg would ever consider doing a 10 at cask strength, since Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength is my favorite series of whiskies. After tasting this, I am holding out hope. Delicious.
And some stray notes from the Bowmore Hotel last night ...
Bowmore Vault Edition No. 2 Peat Smoke - It's so funny, this dram was supposed to highlight the peaty/smoky side of Bowmore's moderately peated spirit. Instead, it hit me with the clearest, most powerful prune note I've ever gotten in a whisky. Not the most complex, but a delightful surprise.
Kilchoman STR Cask 2019 - STR is an experimental cask finish involving shaving, toasting, and recharring (hence, S-T-R) old wine casks to mature whisky. Based on this one, I'm not the biggest fan. Like a dried-out bourbon that had its sweet notes sucked out of its nose before mummification.
Arrrrrrrdbeg! - This pour was pretty pricey, but damned if it isn't worth it. The nose is minty and features starfruit, anise, and mukhwas, with more of those fresh fruit and spice characteristics on the palate, along with a balanced dose of cigar smoke peatiness. A mellow and self-assured Ardbeg, and a fitting tribute to longtime distillery manager Mickey Heads.
Bunnahabhain 12 Cask Strength 2022 ed. - Aberlour A'bunadh is like the Two Face of whiskies for me; half is amazing, but half is harsh and hot (even though we mostly drink cask-strength whisky). This dram is the good half of A'bunadh: spiced cider, sultanas and trail mix dried fruits, cocoa powder, all in a rich and syrupy whisky.
The complete week's recaps are here:
Day One, Lagavulin
Day Two, Bruichladdich - but we skipped and did Bunnahabhain
Day Three, Caol Ila
Day Four, Laphroaig
Day Five, Bowmore and Ardnahoe
Bonus notes from Days One through Five
Day Six, Kilchoman
Day Seven - Bunnahabhain Day, but we did Lagavulin and Ardbeg warehouse tastings
Slainte all, and thanks for reading! I plan to do two followup posts. Tomorrow, I'll compile a "best of the week" list to recognize which distilleries did which parts of the week well, and then I'll do a writeup in the next few weeks with some booking and logistics advice, if people are interested.

You know how some companies may see you went to a prestigious school like Harvard and that may help you get hired? Is the university of Toronto held in particularly high esteem? I’ve noticed that uoft is generally ranked top 20 and higher than Cornell brown and Dartmouth (all Ivy Leagues)however it still doesn’t hold a candle to the Ivy League moniker. Basically I’m trying to figure out if UOFT is reputable besides the obvious high quality of education.

2023.06.03 18:46 JoeyDaKltchen Beach Bar

AITA,
I qanted to know where she was to I kept calling her, Messaged one of her friends which I know was with her and now after everything, Multiple calls, I get a call back saging that she is in a bar and I shouldn't call as I am ruining the moment. I am an overthinker and I do not take one answer as the final so i kept asking her "Did you drink? Where are you?"
I have been exposed at an early age to bars and drinking, So I know the lucrative ways of men getting women to them. I was genuinely worried as all the weight of my girlfriends family sits on my ahoulders. After a few more calls to ask her if she has been drinking I am met with "Can you not call me? You are being so disrespectful."
After them getting back to their hotel I was met with "Isn't one answer for you enough? You ruined my day, Not only did you ask my friend but you disrespected me." After that, I was sent videos of them not doing anything, Just chilling and singing along in the bar.
I do not know what to do, What to say. My only response is to say "Sorry". I don't know if this should be in the AITA or relationship advices or am I just a bad partner.

2023.06.03 18:45 tillwehavefaces Is an HSA RIGHT for me?

My husband and I run our own business. We do reasonably fine, own our home, have no debt and a small savings. Because we run a small business we are always looking for tax savings and I am looking into whether an HSA is the right decision for us. Last year both of us had injuries and paid about 18k in it premiums and out of pocket insurance costs. Our insurance is cheap (450 usd a month) but the coverage is poor. It did not count as a high deductible account so we would need to switch insurance policies. I was thinking to switch insurance policies and open an HSA. I looked into policies and there are stunned that see about the sabe office, maybe a little more. Does this sound like it would be beneficial for us? Any disadvantages to going this route or an HSA in general?

2023.06.03 18:44 Phlox-fox Feeling at the bottom

It’s funny every time I start to feel somewhat normal and even question if I’m not faking my issues the anxiety just comes back bitting me in the ass and I can’t do anything about it.
Literally I’m on my way to work rn and I just want to have a full on ugly cry. Why is life so hard. Literally a month ago I was so high on the joy of getting a real contract at my job and having a stable pay and having my own appartement only to fall so deep in anxiety yesterday when I realised I’m going to be working a lot more than I used to do (and it’s draining) and my pay isn’t going to be that great. My mom is planning to sell the house and move in the south of my country, so before the end of the year I’ll have to move and figure stuff out on my own, like what if I can’t find a cheap place ? What if my salary isn’t enough and I can’t eat properly? I just recently read an article about how people aren’t eating enough lately because of inflation. I’m not even sure I’ll be getting the disability financial aid because I don’t look autistic and I can take care of myself at home. I haven’t even began my shift and I’m already exhausted from the anxiety. I want to take a nap and not talk to anyone so bad.
Sorry for the rambling

2023.06.03 18:42 miss_scarlett_ohara Is there any chance of being able to negotiate work hours/schedule in a job interview or am I just being unrealistic?

Hey y’all.
I’m sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really am wondering if this is in any way possible.
I haven’t worked in the industry in years but have a technical course and 3 years of experience as a pastry chef. I decided to apply for a job as a hotel baker in a 5 star hotel near me and thought I had no chance in hell of even getting an interview as I have not worked as a chef in years. To my surprise, they called me within 10 minutes of me applying to schedule an interview, so they must be pretty desperate for staff. (That position has been open since they opened 8 months ago).
I absolutely LOVED working as a pastry chef but HATED the long miserable days. I am wondering if I can negotiate the hours or schedule, considering they are so desperate for staff.
I don’t really care about the money, so I’m not interested in negotiating wage, I just want a decent work-life balance so I can be with my family.
Can I give it a go in the interview or will they just tell me to fuck off?
