On his last album, HEROES & VILLAINS, Metro Boomin assembled a cast of hip-hop’s biggest stars and dragged them into a gloomy world of his own design. Under his favoured conditions, the producer teased out performances from his guests that ranked among their best, highlighting the talent of the leading figures of this current generation of rap. He strives to do the same on METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, a big-budget soundtrack accompanying the animated film, but fails to muster the same level of effort from himself and his peers.
Metro’s latest album is bloated with casual appearances and half-baked themes. Everyone raps about wanting to be the hero, virtually no one puts the work in to steal the show. When his guests have provided sanitized performances on previous collaborative albums, Metro was at least able to mute their narrow range with his elaborately composed signature inky beats. The producer’s work here is sometimes rendered listless as he is forced to cater to a bigger set of guests and consider an even more expansive audience.
It is worth noting that METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE is not a Metro Boomin project in the traditional sense. He is the ringleader of this campaign but the producer isn’t afforded the luxury of making a cohesive soundscape. Metro’s preferred selection of eerie, distorted synths and rumbling bass motifs are still present, however, most of the album plays out in unfamiliar terrain for him. His forays into the realm of the extraterrestrial go down smoothly thanks to the help of MIKE DEAN, elsewhere the beats slink, stripped of any ornate designs that may provide crucial texture. The beatmakers’ limits are frequently tested here and so rarely does exiting his comfort zone yield positive results.
To accommodate each of the twenty guests, Metro must upset several secure artists pairings. Lil Wayne and Offset breed healthy competition on Annihilate, each rapper tries to one-up the other with increasingly punchy enunciation and flashy flows. The pair’s antics are washed away though when Swae Lee is awkwardly inserted to croon feebly on the chorus. Metro reunites with James Blake for Hummingbird, a five-minute showstopper where the duo seamlessly marry their production styles, intermeshing barbed percussion with swirling synths. When they let A$AP Rocky and 21 Savage tag along on Nonviolent Communication it becomes a complete snoozefest.
References to inane acts of heroism and peril are littered across the script but because most of the cast are doing the bare minimum they dampen any notes of actual danger. Metro’s usually reliable roster of rappers; Future, 21 Savage, and Don Toliver, turn in excruciatingly passive performances, and the supplementary cohort of fresh voices doesn’t stand out either. When Roisee sings “Not done fighting, I don't feel I lose” on Am I Dreaming, her aggression is cushioned by the gooeyness of her auto-tune and her druggy slur. The choruses are particularly unimaginative. We get it, this is music made to promote a Spider-Man film, but there are more enthralling ways to tie the two media together than having Offset repeat the word “Spider” over and over again.
There are moments of individual brilliance. JID breathes life into Danger (Spider) with his winding, highly technical rapping ability, 2 Chainz is jubilant as he laps every second he gets to play hero on Givin’ Up (Not The One), and James Blake’s ghoulish falsetto is always a devastating tool for creating tension. But there simply aren’t enough of these punchy performances to generate sufficient intrigue to hold your attention for the album’s full fourty-seven-minute runtime.
Metro is no stranger to making albums where world-building and, as of late, superheroes are key. Considering the sweeping set pieces he’s made in the past, his work on METRO BOOMIN PRESENTS SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE is bereft of ambition. The album will no doubt go on to garner a few hundred million streams but that has everything to do with the names attached to it and not what they actually bring to the music. This all-star cast is capable of doing so much but they choose to keep the action-packed sequences to a minimum. With great power comes great responsibility goes the old adage, no one here seems to register that.

The father is my best friend and also a coworker - albeit a different position but same location.
Not much of a story.
Dude is 20 something, I’m 30 something, and apparently my 72 hour request to be literally one hour late doesn’t trump his constant 10-20 minutes late every goddamn day.
I do all the work and he sits in the office eating trail mix and bitching about freight orders, is never on time, and texts me like 10-20 minutes before our shift starts (we need two people by company policy to unlock a door) to let me know that traffic sucks or whatever garbage he spews.
I’ve never been late, I always wait for him because I am not a key holder and he is, and he’s always texting me that he’s “stuck in traffic” while I sit outside waiting.
The one time I ask for ONE HOUR. Three days in advance. He says no, because he has a count he has to do and if he has to stay until 5 instead of 4 his fiancé will freak out about having to watch their infant.
Would you report him or let himself get fired?

I get it, communication is key and it is good to talk about big decison making (where to live, how finances are done, how to approach parenting).
But what would you do if your spouse wanted to let their friend move into your house for 8 months to help him back on his feet (friend lost their job, couldn't find work in his state), well knowing that living issues could arise from doing this? They want to make the offer to their friend, but they put the driving decision on you to agree or disagree.
What do you do? Is bringing this up to reach out and communicate a tough decision? Or does putting you in this position take advantage of you by putting the responsibility to decide on you?
For some reason I didn't like either option of this decision: if I said "no" then I'm the reason why his friend is living out on the streets. If I said "yes" then I'm the reason he's doing better but at the sacrifice of my own privacy, access to the guest rooms/bathrooms to your house, and seeing some guy take his time getting his life together (i.e. if you'd ask him about the job hunt, he say he's not settled in yet, doesn't have meds, not adjusted enough, can't find a job that's comfortable, he set his goal at to get one at 3 month mark).
Any time I need to make a decision that would put out my husband I just don't do it, or if I'd bring it up I tell him that it's not in our best interest (e.g. My friend wanted us to take their baby in for 1 year due to issues, I told my spouse that even if I/we could be capable it would be hard for everyone involved, declined, and referred her to other services.)
I confronted my spouse on this, but the argument stands that I could have just said no in the first place. At the same time, I was given a hard decision I didn't expect in the first place. I'm at a loss.

Almost a year ago I found out the guy I had been dating for over a year was cheating. The other girl contacted me and we met and talked it all out. We took a picture together of us flipping off the camera and sent it to him. The next day I changed more door locks (as he still had a key) and changed my key locker code.
Three weeks after that we had a bittersweet phone conversation where we aired everything out. We laughed and I felt like I understood him better. We hung up the phone and I started the healing process.
A month later he tried texting me acting like nothing happened and despite the urging of my best friend, I blocked his number without responding at all. My ex is a narcissist and after a bunch of reading and hindsight later, I realized that ANY response would be viewed as encouragement.
This past March (8 months later and just before my birthday) he requested to follow me on my private Instagram account and a few days later sent me private messages. I didn't respond and blocked him, hoping that would be the end of it.
But this past Monday, when I went to send a meme to my friend through FB messenger, I had a message request from my Ex. Again, I haven't responded but now I'm almost wondering if I should. I really wish he'd just leave me alone.
Going no contact was in my best interest and although our relationship was toxic, I learned a lot from it and don't regret it other than how it ended. Fortunately we don't live in the same city so I don't have to worry about running into him regularly.
I'm just curious what others would do. Part of me wants to break the no contact to tell him to leave me alone, but part of me wants to stand by what I said that I will never contact him again.

I never liked eating. When I was a baby I wouldn’t cry when I hungry so my parents had to put me on a strict schedule. When I was a kid I didn’t care for eating and would skip snack and lunch at school and then lie about it to my parents. I knew this was an issue since the 5th grade but everyone thought I’d grow out of it.
I gained a little weight in middle school but never got to be over weight. I was pretty skinny all of my life. I’d drink Gatorade instead of eating because it felt better in my stomach.
I’m 19 now and I still don’t experience hunger and cravings like I’m supposed to. One plate of food (egg sandwich, à banana and a piece of bread) fills me for 2 days. One small combo meal from a fast food restaurant feels like binge eating and it hurts. I’d much rather drink and never eat but you can’t get all your nutrients from that. Digestion hurts sometimes no matter what I eat. It could be healthy grilled chicken with broccoli and it’d still hurt. But I don’t experience pain from drinks.
I’m physically weak because my body has been in a low starvation diet my entire life. It’s eaten my muscles because I keep pushing back on eating. I can go 2 days without food before experiencing any discomfort and symptoms. I’m the shortest one in my family by quite a bit probably because my growth was stunted. I hate that eating makes me feel sick but there’s nothing I can do. I’ve tried everything. I’ve been to the anorexia clinic due to this and it’s never helped.
I can’t stick to a schedule because I’ll get one or two days in and then I’ll get nauseous when I try to eat on the third making me skip eating and derailing.

Weta moved around the infirmary in a flurry movement, wings buzzing anxiously as she hurried. There had been a fight in the prey centre and quite a few dragons needed aid.
Icewing stumbled over a chicken, fractured wing. Shot some ice accidentally and hit a Sand/Sky hybrid in the side. That hybrid flung her barb forward to attack and hit a Seawing. None of the three girls were at fault, but another Icewing, a Sandwing, and a Nightwing had a minor fight over it and ended up with ice and flame burns and some scratches. read the report the Hivewing had gathered from witnesses. She had pinned it to the wall near the door quickly.
The hybrid, Heatwave, was sleeping soundly with heatpacks in a bundle of blankets, and the trio of fighting dragons had left the infirmary earlier after a stern warning from her and some medications. They were hopefully having a chat with the student counselor.
"How are you doing, Atoll?" Weta asked, approaching the purple Seawing with bandages all over her arm. The cherry dragon was dissapointed that she would be missing out on carving wood of the next week, but otherwise dealing with the pain well. I love the tools available here. There's so much to work with.
She had a chat with Pallas, the Icewing with the wing injury, for an hour or. Pallas was fairly quiet, but was happy for Weta to distract her from the pain with chatter.
The flap of wings alerted Weta of her crows. They had done a wonderful job helping her, and one was trapped in Heatwave's talons as she slept. The other two had just returned from who knows where (Weta never minded if they disappeared for a bit) and the Hivewing instructed one to stay in the infirmary while she went for some lunch with the other.
"Just you and me, huh Helper?" She said, receiving a squak from the bird on her middle horn. Just then, a dragon turned the corner into her and they collided.

I was playing a game where on my 2nd monitor google chrome froze, then after a while it gave me the popup to wait or shut down chrome, then the game i was playing also froze after the match was over, i could still move my mouse but could alt tab out or nothing, so i pulled the plug on me pc. Then i reboot and it gives me a BSOD with “unmountable boot volume” error. Afterwards i would get windows logo and a automatic disk repair but it just goes into a gray screen. Bios works fine but what the fuck happened? (Also if i press a key to skip boot repair same thing happens)
