So I'm (m16) has mock exams for IB (international baccalaureate) which is difficult for me and I had these in grade 10 term 2 (we have terms here in Pakistan) and I did not do very well and in fact I passed with around 60% grades and my result comes through as a PDF and I photoshopped my grades into 70-85% and showed that to them and then a few days later my coordinator called my mom to inform her that he wants to have a meeting with her about my grades, from there my mom found out and my coordinator told her that I would be able to pass or get the certificate if I keep up this performance because if I am barely passing the mocks, the finals would be more difficult, and then I had the "talk" with my parents to which they kept on saying that why would I have the need to lie and betray them like this, my mom has no one left in the country, her brother is in Canada and her parents have died, so she used to constantly tell me that I have nothing except my children (basically telling me to get good grades and achieve something.) my dad on the other hand wanted me to graduate with a scholarship or with financial aid from colleges and universities and now they both feel betrayed and lied too which I admit I should have come clean to them that I did not get good grades and the worst part is that my dad to which I had very little connection with, almost zero has threatened to disown me if I get any fees from the school and if he has to pay then he will disown me,
the part where I explain my self that is that up until grade 9 I was getting good grades and I feel that's where their hopes were made very high, where I feel like I can justify what I did was that I was scared to show them bad grades as I never got bad grades, so I did not know what to do, and my parents are very strict, they never let us go out of the house or to and friends house or anything they would take my test very seriously and at on point i got 39/50 in a math test and I remember that my mom locked me in the room until I passed out and this was when I was 15, I didn't want to make them unhappy so that's why I photoshopped them, all my life they have been the most strict parents to me, all of my siblings and me we live in a joint family with my grandparents and my grandpa give us a weekly allowance of 500pkr (1.7 USD) and my mom used to take that allowance as well and instead of saving it for us would spend it on bags and other stuff for her as when all of our siblings when we got money the total would be 2000PKR, and she would buy stuff that costed exactly that.
I didn't get a phone until I was 15 which was when I was lost in a different state that they had left me behind because I was in the bathroom for 2 mins, I remember this vividly as it was quite traumatic, and it was then they got me a phone and I had given it in for checks every day at 10 pm.
Coming to food, I am not exactly overweight as for my age and height as I am 5,7 and weight 65 kg around 135 pounds, my mom wouldn't let me eat another serving no matter the food.
All of this coming back to the question and the fact that my dad has told me that he will disown me and none of my parents talking to me for what I admit I was wrong but after listing all the things they do, can they really say that they never said anything to me and that I shouldn't have lied to them and that they wouldn't have said anything to me even if I got bad grades.
And can anyone please tell me what I can do next, I have no problem with me being the A-hole as I understand that I have done wrong, but can someone advise on what to do next as I am grounded, siblings can't speak to me and I have no idea what's happening right now, so please tell me what I can do to make things right, should I study better as I have a month left till my finals or should I do something else.

Real DOGMAN or WEREWOLF caught on camera? (footage analysis)

Hey guys, this is Nick. Welcome to another episode of StrangeSpotting. Today I have something different in store for you.
We’re going to take a look at a piece of footage allegedly depicting a Dogman.
I think I should spend a few words for those who are not familiar with this cryptid.
Although not as prominent as Bigfoot, this creature is featured far and wide in legends and folklore from many different countries, and there are more and more people coming forward, thanks to paranormal-themed podcasts, describing terrifying encounters with this creature.
The physical details and behavioral patterns emerging from the interviews I have listened to are very consistent.
This creature is reported as a tall, bipedal animal resembling a cross between a human and a wolf, not too different from the common portrayal of werewolves in various media, absent the moonlight-induced transformation.
Without further ado, let’s get started.

footage info
The original clip was published on November the 23rd, 2015 by someone who clearly wishes to stay anonymous, given the “john doe” moniker. The description reads: “The camera died during this filming. This is raw footage filmed on a Blackmagic camera (notorious for battery issues). The person that gave me this footage does not wish to be identified but has stated that he will interview and comment with his face blurred.”
Despite the last comment, the author of the clip has never been interview, at least to my knowledge. All we know is that it’s referred to as a “he”, and his camera brand, BlackMagic.
It’s important to notice that this is the only video ever published on John Doe’s channel, and there is no information available in the “about” section, no playlists and no featured channels. The other suspicious element is the supposed double anonimity, if we are to believe that the author and the publisher are two separate individuals. The only thing available for the analysis is the clip itself. Although this lack of information is certainly not sufficient ground for labelling this video a hoax, it is undeniably an element undermining its credibility.

author’s behavior
The first reaction in watching this 12 seconds clip would be to dismiss the author’s behavior as essentially transparent, and therefore not an aspect to consider in the analysis. That’s what I’m concerned with, though. I have a few observations to make.
The first one is that the footage is shot at very close proximity. Unless it has been enlarged and cropped, we can infer that the camera-holder is a few feet away from the alleged creature. There’s no way to establish if the author is standing or crouched down given that the ground is never in the frame.
The second observation is that we have no way of knowing what happened right before and right after the recording.
If we assume for a moment that this is not a hoax, there are two possible scenarios.
Either the author noticed some some animal in the thicket and recorded it, only to run away right after realizing it was not a known species but something bizarre and possibly very dangerous, or they had the bravery to record, with a very steady hand, something they knew was an anomaly from before hitting the record button, and stayed until the battery allegedly died. This is possible, but a bit less plausible for a couple of reasons. I am aware that providing an explanation which implicitly acknowledges the existance of Dogman is contradictory and not good logic, but all the interviews I’ve listened to describe encountering a dogman as something utterly terrifying that leaves serious pasychological scars in the form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Even if the author had never heard of Dogman before, it must be truly distressing to see something so culturally and biologically unnatural.
The third consideration is that the publisher claims this footage to have been recorded with a Blackmagic camera with notorious battery issues. If that’s to be believed, given the absence of metadata regarding the exact model, the most likely candidate is the first issue in the Blackmagic Cinema Camera product line, released in 2012 in the US market with an initial price of 2,995 US dollars. I have no way of knowing if the author payed full price or a second-hand one, but this model was definetely not you typical run-of-the-mill device. It was an expensive, professional pocket camera with very good capabilities for the time, and I can’t help wondering why the author was recording in that particular time and place with that model instead of a simple cell phone or cheaper consumer model hand camera.
So far, the odds are in favor of a hoax hypothesis instead of a prank or real biological creature.

footage quality and details
I’m going to spend a few more words on the topic of the camera model. The first Blackmagic Cinema Camera could record video in different formats, with an HD or 2.5K resolution, and could even record 2.5k lossless raw footage, which was not a common feature for compact cameras at the time. The clip under scrutiny has good video quality, but I’m inclined to think that, even in non-optimal lighting conditions, that device could have produced better quality than this. I wonder why someone with a great camera, who allegedly recorded a legendary cryptid and chose to divulge the video would choose to convert it to something with less details and quality. This discrepancy doesn’t make sense, in my opinion, and I tend to view it as another element playing against the legitimacy of this clip.
In the previous section I asked you to assume that this is not a hoax. Now I am going to ask you the opposite, therefore that this is, in fact a hoax. How did the culprit, so to speak, achieve this result?
Did they use CGI, animatronics or a simple suit?
Anyone acquainted with the process of computer graphics and visual effects knows that the act of combining real film or video footage with computer-generated imagery is called Compositing. The problem with compositing is that it provides the best results when the virtual object or character or light effect has a clear separation from the surrounding. Even today it would be hard to pull-off a good compositing with a digital subject being put in the middle of branches and leaves like this. This footage looks too natural to be a combination of a real thicket and a digital dogman, therefore the whole scene should be CGI, but the details of the branches and the leaves look too natural, in my opinion. As you can see from the leaves in the foreground, the footage was shot in daylight. Perhaps not broad daylight, but I think we can agree that this was not shot during the night. The reason why I’m pointing this out is that I find it very hard to believe that someone could fall for a prank involving a guy dressed as a werewolf, or an animatronic puppet hidden in a bush in daylight. For these reasons, I am going to dismiss the prank hypothesis, and consider only the remaining two, with the hoax hypothesis clearly overwhelming the real creature one.

subject’s physical features
The subject is not fully visible, so we must work with what’s in the frame to hopefully shed more light on which hypothesis is more plausible. The first thing I want to point out is that.. we don’t actually know if this thing is a dogman or not, wether real or hoaxed, because the primary characteristic of Dogmen as reported by eyewitnesses is their bipedalism. There’s no way to say if the subject here is standing or not, and neither if it can ambulate on two legs. We’ll have to make do with the fact that the facial features seem to be a mixture of human and canine ones, although the last ones quite exaggerated.
I’m going to use a stabilized, sharpened and more saturated version of the footage, and move from easier to harder characteristics to detect.
First of all, the subject’s body frame is visible on both sides. Here is its right side, and here is it’s left side. The lack of significant envoronmental references and the subject’s body almost fully covered make any attempt at estimating size futile.
All I’m going to say is that it appears to have very broad shoulders, but that of course is a subjective perception and doesn’t matter for the analysis.
What I deem very important here is to extrapolate all the movements that happen in the clip.
The first, quite easy thing to notice are the ears. Both ears move. This is the subject’s right ear making an upward tilt, and this is its left ear making both an upward tilt and a slight rotation.
Now look at how the muzzle and mouth close, then open, then close again. Here is the right eyelid blinking, and here’s the left eyelid blinking.
I’ve increased the lighting dramatically to focus on something that, in my opinion, was the hardest thing to notice. Look at its left shoulder in this portion of the clip. What do you notice? The subject’s shoulder is moving due to the rib cage contracting and expanding. In other words, this thing is breathing.
Here’s the clip with different enhancements for a few last details.
It’s a bit hard to notice but the gums are visible here. As for the well-concealed elephant in the room, what makes the “guy in costume” explanation less plausible is the unnatural position of the head in relation to the torso. Here’s an outline of the subject’s body and head frame, and here’s an ultra-basic representation of the camera’s direction and field of vision, and of the spine and segmentation.
At this point, we have some elements that weaken all three types of hoaxes. The CGI is very unlikely, the movements of ears, mouth, eyes and the unnatural head-neck-body arrangement make the costume hypothesis extremely unlikely. The only plausible explanation could be animatronics, but the fluidity of motion in the facial features and the natural-looking breathing mechanics seem incompatible with it. I suppose such results are achievable today, but they probably would require Hollywood-level practical effects and great financial effort.

motive
Before moving on to the conclusions, I think I should spend a few words about motive. So far, the only acceptable explanation is animatronics. Perhaps I have a tendency to over-rationalize things, but I find it very hard to believe that a vfx artist would spend a great amount of money (probably in the 6-to-7 digits ballpark) to create one of the most, if not the most advanced animatronics puppet in the world, capable of simulating complex and fluid facial movements and breathing mechanics, for a 12 seconds clip published with no information and no context on YouTube, which faded into obscurity, without ever taking credit for it?
FINAL THOUGHTS
In drawing things to a close, I’d like to go over the observations made along the video, in terms of positive and negative elements regarding the legitimacy of this video. We touched upon many different aspects and features, and I think I should do an ulterior breakdown for how a hoax could have been achieved.
First of all, the prank hypothesis was discarded for the following reasons:
if CGI was used, there’s no prank at all. If the hoaxer used a costume or an animatronics puppet, the notion that someone could fall for it in daylight is untenable.
As a general hoax vs real creature comparison, we observed that the footage was published by an anonymous individual, claiming to do it for another anonymous individual who said would answer to questions in camouflaged interviews but never did. This was the only video ever published on a channel with zero information.
The only pieces of info provided was about the camera brand, and the fact that the battery died while recording, but the footage quality is not consistent with what the most likely model for that time, the first issue of Blackmagic Cinema Camera, could generate.
As for the CGI hoax hypothesis, the only detail supporting it is some strange looking borders in the foliage. The detracting aspects are the extremely difficult composition for a mixed CGI effect, and the high level of details and natural look of the plants and of the lighting in the scene, which are inconsistent with computer graphics technical capabilities in 2015.
The costume hypothesis’ odds are greatly damaged by the ears, nozzle and eyes movements coupled with an unnatural downward tilt of the head and neck vs the spine.
The only tenable technical explanation would be extremely advanced animatronics, but the fluid facial movements and realistic breathing coupled with the great skill and money involved and lack of a clear motive diminish the odds of this hypothesis as well.
On the other hand, we don’t have enough elements to assign a great degree of plausibility to the “real creature” hypothesis,
but enough to consider it, in relative terms, the one with the highest odds among the four options.
In conclusion, I consider the “Real Dogman or Werewolf Footage” moderately plausible evidence of the existence of a cynocephalus biological species.

I try to send money as a gift and I don't want him to see who send them to him. When I do international money transfers can the receiver see my name or he will only see my card number?

This will include spoilers up to episode 6. After seeing Nicole frantically digging or burying something (most likely the money) I don't believe she killed maddie but I believe she absolutely thinks she directly caused her death. I think that after maddies phone being found smashed, her saying she wishes everyone could be forgiven etc, that she obviously ties into it. I think that's why she's looking so hard for her and refuses to believe she's dead. I think Nicole filmed the blackmail video and somehow got the money from Mr. Anderson/Claire. Then when she realized that something horrible happened to Maddie, she assumed it was because of what she had done and is racked with guilt. Keep in mind, there was someone in maddies moms backyard that wasn't Nicole or anyone we saw at the dance. And it wasn't the janitor because he gets arrested at his home. He's where the next part of my theory comes in. I know that most of you despise the possession theory but I'm big on it. We haven't seen or found maddies body. Janet suddenly "crossed over" right when maddie passed away. I don't believe this to be the case because we've now seen two ghosts have unfinished business moments and not cross over. And its implied that maddie even believes that charley may cross over after the note gets read. He didnt. And i know a lot of us thought that wally was crossing over when he took that jersey off, he didnt. Mr. Martine seems to make less progress than maddie has been able to in crossing over ghosts so im hard pressed to believe that he helped janet cross over with his seemingly limited skill set. And the janitor knew about the scars of the school. (How to talk to ghosts.) What if he went to school with/knew Janet back in the 60s. Someone somehow, not even necessarily him severely injured maddie, then he was able to help Janet into her body. I do believe that maddies body is the one squatting in the old house. Maybe even the janitors back in the day. But then that begs the question of what was rhonda frantically looking for? We know she asked Mr. Martin to do whatever he did for Janet. Maybe Janet told Mr. Martin that she could talk to a living person and he helped her formulate a plan. Maybe even under the guise that she had unfinished business off school grounds and that she would return maddies body after with no intention of doing so. Maybe Mr. Martin told rhonda what he did for Janet and that's what she was doing in the boiler room.
Some small side theories:
1.) Mr. Martin is Mr. Manfredo (and it was really a murder suicide?)
2.) Mr. Martin somehow caused the kids deaths or some of them.

But tonight I'll contribute some parting advice before i close reddit and hit the sack for the night:

• you may not get along with your family all the time, it's okay to make a family of friends along the way. Somewhere, someone does really care and the friends who care will help when you really need it
  
• don't be afraid to be who you are regardless of what people say. Forming your identity is like 90% of what you're supposed to do as a teen.
  
• cliche, but do well in school and try to go to college. don't drop out of high school friends, it's really important. Get your GED if you don't have your diploma. College isn't for everyone but it can help. There's a lot of good resources for getting certified in your career that don't require traditional collegiate studies. If you don't do college work your ass off at a day job and make money doing something you're passionate about at night.
  
• if you are going to do drugs, alcohol, nic, etc. Make sure you do it safely and in moderation. Before the age of 25 it can really fuck your brain up. Also, if your parents find out, own it. They know because they did it too. Even better make sure they know about such habits because they can ensure your safety. Typically your safety is all they care about at the end of the day.
  
• if you're getting laid, use protection. I know going into Walmart and buying condoms/prep/whatever seems really embarrassing but it's the smart, mature thing to do. You don't want an std or a baby you can't take care of.
  
• Learn life skills!! You need them!! I fucked this up and had to learn to cook impromptu. Take out is expensive and if you're on a tight budget, one unnecessary trip to McDonald's is all it takes to push you over then you can't cover bills.
  
• Build your credit! I'm not an expert on this but secured cards are great, you can't go over what you put in and they help you build credit. A lot of lenders look at the length of your credit history rather than your score so start ASAP. A lot of lenders are also happy to give good terms to people with no history so use that to your advantage!

I feel like i have to explain my side on this because a lot of people are accusing me of many bad things. The subject of my post is just problematic families who fit ten children or more inside an rv while the parents sleep inside an en suite master's bedroom and claim that "they like this set up!" as if the kids can recognize and defend what they need and want to their parents. They have a difficulty in expressing what they want to say. It is their parents, after all. But, i get it that not all rv families are like this and some try their best to provide for their children because i also watched a lot of nomadic families with great set up and limited number of children (like 1 or 2) or just have pets.
I am just so concern about the well-being of the children living in this kind of set-up, unless they really provide ample amount of space when they grow up as a teen. I am also bothered by the way they document their children 24/7, including their diseases and pronouns, etc., things that are supposed to be private and chide them when they don't want to appear on camera. Some people use this to promote MLM schemes which we all know just leach money from people.
I believe that child services should look upon this situation.

I am m22 from Southeast Asia, currently on my 4th year of college. I come from conservative Moslem family. Due to that and me myself, I don't really interested in any close/romantic relationship. I never have close female friend, let alone girlfriend.
Recently, I noticed that there is a friend (f2x, don't really know her bday, college friend) that seems having a crush on me. We already know each other since 1st year. We are mutual in Twitter, but we rarely have any interaction (like, reply, mention, etc.). We do have each other phone number, but we chatted only important things (assignment, announcement, etc). This semester, we only have 1 same class, which is on Monday and Tuesday.
I could say that she might have crush on me because several behavior of her I found on Twitter:
1) Some day, she felt ill. She posted in Twitter that she might need a certain medicine, which I coincidentally have a pack of. I offered to her that I could deliver it to her. Shortly after, she tweeted that she is "embarrassed" (idk the correct terms) of certain "he". After I delivered it to her, she then tweeted that her mouth was "numb" (we did chat a bit when we met). I saw her tweets above after I arrived at home, and thought that this might be a coincidence. I liked one of the tweet. Then, she tweeted "OMG", proceeded to delete all of the tweets above.
2) On a certain Monday, our lecturer told that Tuesday class is canceled and we may do assignment by ourselves instead. That Tuesday, she tweeted "happy and sad because there is no class". I didn't like this tweet, and she didn't delete it either.
3) Later day on the same week as 2), she invited me to an Iftar (meal after Sawm) which is organized by local Moslem community (she come from conservative family too ig). The Iftar will be held on Sunday. Yesterday, she tweeted "miss you", followed by "sunday is still long way off". Curiously, I liked the tweets. Shortly after, she then tweeted "OMG", and deleted the tweets, same as 1)
She might know that I know if she is having crush on me due to this. I don't dislike her, but I'm not sure if I have interest in romantic relationship. I just want things to continue as it was before. What should I do with this piece of information? I might have overthought this more than I should.
Side note: The fact that someone "might" have a crush on me already surprised me. I am not a popular person in college, nor IRL. I am not a fit/sports person (rarely do sports anyway lol) and my height is just average (taller than her tho). I prefer to spend my day in front of my laptop and play or watch games (not a shut in/extreme introvert). I don't really have achievement that I am very proud of anyway. We don't share a lot of common interest. In fact, she chatted and interacted a lot more to my other friend (m) compared to me.
So, if turns out it true that she having a crush on me, I am really curious what's the thing she interested at on me.

I gave a lot of thought to the idea of developing a crypto project centered around it being a video game with the possibility of earning some buck just by playing the game. Ideally, this game would be on par, quality and content wise, with the titles like WoW, Diablo, or Path of Exile, but I know it's far far away from what can be expected at this moment. It doesn't necessarily have to be a new game, but it would be cool if some of the existing ones implemented crypto/NFTs at one point to allow players to monetize the effort they put into the game by selling NFT items, in-game currency as cryptocurrency, etc. Ethereum would be a solid base for a project like this because of its stability and versatility, however, the game would probably have its own coin.
My favorite existing ETH-based project would probably be NFT City Miner. I played the previous game made by these devs (Crypto Idle Miner), and it had me occupied for months, so I assume the new one would be even more interesting, especially considering it would contain NFT buildings in form of owning virtual property. I also made a bit of money playing CIM, and it was actually good if taken into consideration that the game is free.
The second one would probably be Crazy Defense Heroes, but it's looking and feeling a bit clunky.
What's your favorite "idealistic" ETH-based project you'd love to see vs your favorite existing ETH-based project?

So my step dad has been living in a place in wynnum for over ten years, not a bad renter alway paid his bills on time etc now my mum and step dad have only 2 months to move after their lease no explanation at all no reason that they have to go. For myself i've been told i owe arraers on a rental house i have paid every due date without fail was told it was a system error... last week i couldnt pay rent so i asked wether i can pay 500 instead of 250 the week after instead of paying the week before. Now i saved for this including bond cleaning dump runs and feeding myself. They took 750 off of me today which has completely ruined my budget for leaving. I want to ask how do other leasing companies treat you this poorly and are they this incompetent aswell as see you as just another number for their customers. Because if i didnt have the support i have i wouldn't be able to make ends meet to get my bond back? And i hate asking to owe money from people i care deeply about when they are strugglong aswell. Is it just me or do they just give a toss?

I jumped on the linux boat because at the time I didn’t have money for MacBooks and Macs in general.
Now I have the money, and I was planning to get a macbook air; but I’m not going to…
I don’t have any experience with MacOS but have owned several iPhones and iPads. I know how everything “just works” in the apple so called walled garden.
But honestly? The only selling point of apple was the software and stability. After some time I realized doing what I do, managing a website and studying for school, the open source software are more than enough.
And about the stability thing, I want to make the crazy and selfish claim that people who can’t make their desktop work in a stable manner using linux are just lazy.
People say linux is free coz you pay for it with your time which is the fucking stupidest shit ever. Does apple let you even “do” anything for you to have the atrocity to be worried about your time?
I have decided to stay on linux and am curious what brands of laptops are considered solid linux runners in this community.
I have a Thinkpad right now but would be open to recommendations!

I did do some research on Atari and Commodore, and in 1983 there was a major event going on that had Atari right in the center of it, they called it “the video game crash of 1983” supposedly it was because of the game E.T for the Atari 2600 that was such a bad game, they had invested so much in the licensing rights for it, and so many people were disappointed by the weird gameplay of the game that Atari just decided it was cheaper to go bankrupt and then drive out into an unknown location in the Nevada desert, and just bury everything…. Including brand new prototype controllers, software and systems.
At the same time Commodore was on their third revision of the, at the time, very popular computer the Commodore 64, which at the center of it had… the exact same processor… well not exactly the same, but not in a way that would make much of a difference. Meaning they can run the same instructions, though the programs would still end up being majorly different from each other, suppose however that the program could adapt and change itself, mutate like a human virus, so that when it has entered a new system, as long as there is any familiarity in that new system, it could run.. that should never happen in real life though, because that would mean that humanity would be extremely fucked… but it does happen.. let me go back a few days and I’ll explain.
I finally received the chip reader from china in the mail, so I hooked it up to my modern computer and updated all the drivers and the program, the internet has been slowing down even more lately but there was no rush, good things will come to those who wait as the old saying always goes, when it finally was done I wasted no time in plugging in the rom which the program immediately identified and I clicked read..
It popped up a window which showed the data of the first rom and then prompted me if I wanted to read another one, so I swapped the chip with the second one and clicked “yes” it began reading, after a while it too read successfully, but this time it didn’t show the data, it just popped up another window that read “Thank you” and then began playing what I can only describe as “really awful high pitched noise” at full volume. I wish I could say I recognized it as a data stream in audio form, but at the moment all I could think about was how paralyzingly painful the sound was, my entire head felt like it was going to explode, and it felt like my eyes were about to pop out of their sockets, even though I was squeezing my eyelids shut as hard as I could.
While this noise was playing, I had called down to the floor and I couldn’t move, I could barely breathe, it probably didn’t last very long, but if you’ve ever been in an almost panicked state before, you know that time seems to slow down significantly and you become hyper aware of the tiniest of details, everything in the entire room seemed to start vibrating and shaking violently. After what felt like hours of torturous noise there was a loud pop and it all went quiet, “way too quiet” I thought, as I slowly started to open my eyes to take a look around, I noticed that all my computers had turned off, I tried moving and getting back up very slowly because it felt like one thousand razorblades had grazed every single part of my skin, even if I couldn’t see any pierced skin it still hurt massively in a stinging kind of way.
I had to get back to my computer though to see what was going on, I tried turning it back on but it completely refused, no lights turning on, no fan noise, no nothing, I took a deep breath trying to think what could’ve happened but my brain felt like it was made out of maple syrup. I don’t think you’ll blame me for what I did next, I simply panicked, grabbed my coat, the commodore and my phone, I put the coat on in a hurry and went out to my car and just drove, aimlessly, that’s when I do my best thinking anyway, and I was considering just dumping the commodore like the previous owner but that’s when I noticed something, I could not hear the car engine, at all, and I happened to take a glance at my rear view mirror, red glistening liquid was seeping out of my ears “it must’ve gotten so loud that it blew out my eardrums” I mumbled to myself, feeling creeped out by the sight of the blood. I couldn’t stop staring though, as the blood started coming out my nose as well, I tried wiping it off on my shirt, but it just wouldn’t stop.
Somehow though, the sight of the blood made me remember the code that flashed up on the screen before everything went crazy, when I first saw it I didn’t pay much attention to it, but now that I was thinking about it, I did see something slightly off about it in the header section that was translated to ASCII.
“Atari inc copyright 1982” and then what looked like coordinates, I do have a very good memory for numbers, so I just punched it into the GPS and I started heading that way.
I think that the blood loss started to seriously affect me after a while, because I saw things that should not have been possible on that drive, things like angels with torn tattered clothes, scorched flesh and soaked in blood flying around on the sky, strange animals that looked like regular ones, but they looked wrong, especially considering that herbivores, like horses and rabbits, shouldn’t be chewing on corpses. They didn’t even bother to move as I drove past, so it must’ve been hallucinations right !?
On the way I did have to stop for gas, it was quite a long drive, I thought that I might as well fill up on some snacks and empty my bladder, and while I was washing my hands and face trying to get all the blood off, for a split second I thought I could hear some faint whispering, which made my head spin so much that I had to brace myself..
When I was finally done in the bathroom I went over to pay the cashier, I still couldn’t hear anything, which made it a bit clunky to pay, but I just paid through my phone as usual anyway and went back out to my car, the rest of the drive went by in a hurry, I can’t really remember much about it, more than that I saw more angels and weird shadowy figures behind the trees, but I did finally arrive at my destination and that does bring us back to more current events.
When I got out of my car I saw what looked like a big concrete bunker out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a big forrest, my only thought was : what they did here sure seemed like they really wanted to keep things secret from the public. There was a big metal door under a small overhang , so I went up to it and tried the handle, it was of course locked but I decided that I’d just knock on it, I just stood there immobile for a bit, thinking of what I should do if there wasn’t any response, however the handle eventually jiggled and the door slid ajar.
Hesitant I opened the door and entered, only to be struck by a bright light and vibrant warm feeling environment, when my eyes had adjusted I saw that the walls were covered with half height wood paneling and white wallpaper with small red Atari logos painted on them, there were chairs and sofas around the walls with plants next to them that looked so fresh and nice that I wondered if they were plastic, but more importantly there were people hunched over sitting in those sofas and chairs, they looked like they were sleeping. I did move closer though calling out to them to see if they’d wake up, no response, I moved even closer and poked one of them with my finger, he fell over on the ground and I could see that they were just mannequins.. hmm why would they have mannequins here ? I noticed that there was a reception area as well, the countertop seemed to be made out of a granite slab sitting on top of their volcano logo, I walked up to it and saw that there was a chair with yet another mannequin in it, in front of the mannequin there was a computer, it was on and I thought I could find the floor plan on it, and sure enough browsing through the files I did find the floor plan, and one area on the map showed just what I wanted to see “subliminal test area 1”.
I hurried over there running through empty corridors and glass doors only to find what looked like an operating table, with a mannequin torso and a big flat blade screwdriver on it, I couldn’t resist touching the torso, how odd… it felt like real skin when I touched it, but I was quickly brought out of my thoughts when I heard a repeated banging noice, I looked over and saw a window, and on the other side of that window, a woman was banging on it with her hands trying to get my attention.. I walked up to the it and took a look at her, she was roughly 1,65 Meters tall and had her red curly hair back in a pony tail, her pale blue eyes, were stunningly beautiful. She also had a lab coat on with an Atari logo on it. She told me that she had managed to get trapped in the adjacent room and that the mannequins were in fact robots that did most of the maintenance in this facility, and that the mannequin on the table was the one in charge of this room, so if I could just grab some spare parts from the other ones that I saw earlier and get her out of there, she would be very grateful.
Not being able to resist the request of a beautiful woman, I grabbed the screwdriver from the table and hurried back to the main lobby, when I got there I did notice that most of the robots actually were missing some limbs, so I had to pick different limbs from different robots, it was pretty easy, I shoved the screwdriver into the sockets and gave it a twisted and off they came with a squish, they were heavier than I expected though so I had to make at least 3 runs, I carried the head last, it was dripping what looked like hydraulic fluid though so I had to take carful steps but hurry so that it wouldn’t dry out.
All I did was then place the limbs on the table and robotic tendril like arms came out and put the robot together again and filled it up with the important liquids it needed.
In a jolt it came to life, sat up with unblinking eyes, walked over to what looked like just another piece of the wall, but when he touched it there was a purple glow around his hand and a concealed door opened in the wall, the woman that was trapped behind the window came running out and thanked me, she told me her name is Zoe, she also told me that she worked at this facility as a programmer, according to her, back in their heyday, she made a demo for the new Atari computers that would hold subliminal messages that would increase the cravings in the customer for their new products, but that it would adapt so that the messages would be different from person to person, however something went wrong with the program when they tested it in the 80s and the program would act more like a computer virus and jump from one machine to another adapting and mutating to its new environment, making you see what it wanted you to see, so they had to cover everything up and bury all their things in the desert so that nobody would ever find it again.
And that sent a chill down my spine, because stupidly enough when I read the roms, the computer was hooked up to the internet, I told Zoe about it, but all she said was “I know” and hit me right in the head with a hammer.. and everything went black..
Everything was dark when I woke up again, nothing looked the same as it did, more than that the rooms looked similar, except rotten and run down, the wood paneling was peeling and moldy, there was graffiti on the walls.. and is that… brain matter and blood smeared on the wallpaper ? Somehow seeing all this made a smile grow on my face and I started to laugh, hysterically, like one of those laughs that you can barely control, almost like I wasn’t even in control over my own body anymore, like all my limbs weren’t my own. With a tremendous amount of willpower though I was able to start moving my feet, it was more like dragging them though, but I decided it was best if I headed back to the main lobby to get out of here, the thing is though what I just saw in the lobby was a pretty sight, rotting carpet, blood, intestines and mold mixed everywhere, in a way that’s kinda funny, or at least that’s what Zoe keeps saying, she’s making me laugh at the dismembered corpses that was sitting in the chairs and sofas… I poked one right in the eye, he didn’t move and was definitely human, I giggled at it for a second, before I could focus and remember what I needed to do.
Giggling to myself I dragged my feet over to the door and tried the handle, of course it was locked, so now it seems like I’m stuck in here, my phone battery is running low, and the only company I have here is Zoe, I can’t see her but I hear her, she’s telling me to have fun, to rip everyone’s eyes out, to split everyone’s brains open and to paint the walls beautiful with blood and guts.. oh and Zoe wants to tell you guys on here something, “you will get a new best friend too”
