Sports Night was a Aaron Sorkin's first tv show, a workplace sitcom about the cast and crew of a SportsCenter type tv show called "Sports Night". The show was the first to employ many of Sorkin's trademarks such as rapid fire dialogue and the "walk and talk" and many actors later went on to appear on West Wing and Studio 60. The show had 2 seasons before Sorkin himself called it quits so he could focus on The West Wing.
I've been watching through the show for the first time and I quite enjoy it! It would be a fun show to see a reboot of as well.

First time at LAN, I figured I would do a review of all the things I remembered.
A little backstory, I went with my cousin for the main event on a guy’s trip. We are both over 30 and left our wives at home with the kids as we attended RLCS for the first time. We’ve been talking about pro Rocket League for years and even had little watch parties including skipping our family Christmas cookie baking to watch NRG win it all in Madrid in 2019. So we were super hyped to attend it in person.

The things I liked:

The main screen. This thing was beautiful and huge. I imagine whoever had the decision to select the venue used this screen as their decision-making point. The resolution and clarity were better than any stream I have ever watched on my phone or computer. It was easily the most impressive part of the entire venue.
The seats. They were comfortable, clean, and modern. It’s hard to believe that this place hosts rodeos normally.
The Avion Lounge. There were signs for it everywhere, but not many people were up there. I assume this was the case probably because you had to find the staircases or elevator to get to it. There was a nice view of the arena, and the bar was easy to get some decent drinks at. The “Low Boost Juice” was delicious!
The game sound system. The game sounds like jumps and boosts were really dialed up. It helped to immerse you in each game. You could feel each time a car jumped, hit the ball, and each demo. Easily made it worth it to feel in person than watching on my phone or something.
The team booth areas. It was cool to interact with some of the people running the booths for the different teams that were there. Namely, Furia and V1 had some of the more presence here. G2, Faze, Dignitas, NRG, and Moist all had areas too, but I went to the Furia and V1 ones the most. At the Furia booth, they gave away free scarves which were surprisingly really good quality. But the V1 people really outdid themselves. They gave away free shirts and scarves which I was unable to get either. They even organized pre-event breakfasts and marches to the arena led by Lawler himself. They even had an after-party at a bar that I planned to go to, but ultimately didn’t attend. Their dedication to the team and their fans really made me a fan of them and I immediately added them as a flair on here and I bought a decal for them in game after I returned home.
The player’s parents. I’m sure others got to meet the players themselves, but I didn’t get the chance to. I did meet some parents and it was awesome to see their dedication to their kids playing. I spoke with Arsenal’s mom who really took a lot of time to talk to us. You could tell she was very dedicated to his career. Also, Retals dad was handing things out throughout the stands for people to root for SSG. He even told us that he and his wife spent their anniversary printing and putting together some of the SSG signs for fans to wave. I also saw a lot of the V1 parents and even grandparents there. It was great to see them there supporting their kids. I have a 6- and 4-year-old so for now, I can only imagine supporting them in an event like this.
The Production team. I thought all of the production values for this event were some of the best I have ever seen. As much as I do not like copycats, the “This is Rocket League” (similar to the “This is Sportscenter”) skits were pretty good. Namely, the Rizzo and Shogun ones I found to be hilarious. Also, my absolute favorite was the little segment of the hype chamber where the camera pans around the cars in the team decals or colors and then opens to the stadium. Whatever song they used that paired with the booming sounds of the sound system created so much hype (Shazam couldn’t recognize it, unfortunately). Too bad the Grand Finals had the tech issue because it kind of killed a lot of the hype and momentum leading up to the initial kickoff.

Things I did not like:

Water. The rules for Dickies Arena clearly stated that you cannot bring in outside water bottles or any food or beverages for that matter. Fine, I understand this, but it became a problem when there were no visible water fountains. I asked a concession worker where I could get free water. She said she wasn’t aware of any spots and proceeded to give me the tiniest little cup full of ice saying that was all she could give me for free. My cousin asked for tap water for free with his meal and the lady angrily filled up the cup of water from the soda machine and said, “Next time will be $5”. It wasn’t until the last day that we went up to the top floor did we find water fountains on the concourse. It was extra frustrating to be in the arena for hours and feeling like you had to spend $5 each time you wanted water. We even filled up our cups in the bathroom a few times to save some money.
Merchandise. The team booths told us that Psyonix wants to be the only ones to sell the merch. That’s fine and all, but they only had limited stuff available. All weekend I was unsure what I wanted to buy because of the limited variety. Namely, they only had jerseys for G2, Endpoint, BDS, EG, Faze, and Dignitas. None of the teams I really wanted to purchase merch for. I think there were some t-shirt variants of V1, Furia, and eventually the most basic SSG one on the last day. I tried to buy a generic RLCS Worlds t-shirt on the second day, and they only had the smallest (XS) and largest (3XL) sizes available. I kept seeing the new green NRG jerseys around, but they also were not selling those at the merch booths. Finally, on championship Sunday, I decided that I will at least try to buy the RLCS hat. Sure enough, they were out of those. The selection on the last day was abysmal. I think there were only Dignitas, BDS, Endpoint, and Faze merch left along with only the extreme sizes for the RLCS stuff.
Caster sound volume. One of the best parts about watching a match is the hype and analysis our amazing casters bring to the games. Unfortunately, unless you were sitting in the perfect sections of the arena, you couldn’t hear them. I was in row 12 in the lower bowl, and it was near impossible to hear the casters during the match. As much as I liked the booming game sounds where you could feel the cars boosting and their jumps, I’d have loved to hear the casters a lot more.
“Moment”. The song quickly grew on me from when it was initially used in the RLCS promo videos. But between every match and during all the downtime, they played this song. It felt like it was jackhammered into our brains. I was hearing it at night when I couldn’t sleep and even was hearing it on the airplane ride home. I get that they want to celebrate notable people in the community and their contributions to a pretty good song in Athena and Turtle. But there were other songs that could have been played to help give a variety to the downtime between matches. Heck, I really enjoy Athena’s other song in Eternal. Play that one too! (Side note: Can someone at Psyonix update the anthems for these songs? They only play an instrumental part of it when the lyrics to them are the better parts).
The format. The big elephant after the LAN was the crowd. This was my first LAN, so I am not sure how crowds are supposed to act, but this format definitely played a part in it. I enjoyed every match that I watched, but midway through the second day, I realized that we attendees were spending most of our time watching the lower teams have to qualify and the last day was reserved for all the higher teams who already qualified earlier in the week. The final day was actually exhausting. Overall, it was 9 hours in the same arena. There was no reentry per Dickie Arena rules. The initial schedule was that the grand finals were supposed to start at 5 PM CST. The first semifinal ended up starting around this time. When it was all said and done, the event was 2+ hours past its estimated end time. Not to mention the grand finals being a single bo7 after nearly two weeks of play was kind of a letdown. Not that it would have made much of a difference in the way the teams were playing. Seems like the general consensus was that it would have been better to do the semifinals and a best of set grand final for the last day.
Arena Location. The location of the arena was not the best in my opinion. There were some pockets of bars and restaurants in proximity to the arena, but outside of a small place called “Taco Heads”, there was nothing within walking distance to the arena. After each day our Uber and Lyft rides were expensive to go anywhere and they would have taken half the time we could have walked just to pick us up. Instead, we saved some money by walking 20-30 minutes in the Texas heat to the bars and restaurants. I would have liked a venue that had better proximity to businesses for attendees to walk to. In hindsight, at least we were thirsty when we got to them!
Air Conditioning. I know the Texas heat was legit outside and that there were thousands of people packed into the arena on top of the lights, screens, computers, cooking appliances, etc, but lord almighty did they turned up the AC in the arena. As I mentioned, we were sitting in the 12th row of the lower bowl and somehow there was a steady stream of 60 degrees Fahrenheit air blowing directly on us. Thankfully, we had the Furia scarves to use to keep some warmth.
Concourses and Bathrooms and all the lines. I am not sure what the solution to it would be, but the concourses were always a maze to get through. They were packed with so much stuff that it just created chaos every time you had to get up from your seat. There was a separate walkway along the seats that made it great to go from one side of the arena to another, but of course, part of that was blocked for the VIP lounge (where the casting desk was). For the lower bowl (majority of the fans), there were only 2 sets of bathrooms. Also, iirc, there were only 4 general concession lines (there were some specialty food booths too). There were some “cocktail” stands. And finally, all of this was combined with the team booths and merch booths. It was a cluster every time you left your seat it seemed. At times you’d see a huge line was you were walked and couldn’t even see what it was too. The NRG meet and greet and even seeing the line to get pictures with people like Turbo and Leth were wrapped a quarter of the way around the arena. Three days of this created a situation where everyone knew to make a mad dash to these booths, stands, and bathrooms after matches. To add to the frustrations of people criticizing the crowds, I know I bolted for the bathroom after the grand finals to beat the crowds before they got to the trophy ceremony which I watched from the concourse. I think at least putting the team booths on the top concourse or in an outside area would have greatly reduced the congestion.
No Announcements. I think Pysonix did a pretty good job in planning out and navigating the splits and first LANs in over 2 years. They even had protocols that worked to accommodate 2 players from SMPR having COVID and still being able to play. They had so many events and formats and integrated new regions all culminating in this main event. But for the biggest day in the history of the game with 250k+ viewers watching with the biggest prize pool to date, I don’t think I was the only one expecting some sort of announcement. Namely, I was expecting a sneak peek of Rocket League on Unreal Engine 5 or at the very least showing off some sick wheels like Apex Pros or something for us LAN attendees. Instead, we got nothing. I know Rocket League is written with a lot of spaghetti code on top of UE3 or whatever, but to not have an announcement to hype up the future of the game in front of one of its biggest crowds felt like a massive letdown. I already thought it was kind of crazy that we were in the championship Sunday and they still haven’t updated the esports shop to include decals for fan favorites like Falcons and Moist in there. Let alone others like Optic and Pioneers. One thing that played into the mad rush to the bathroom after the Grand Finals was that I skipped the chance to go after the G2 v Faze semi-match to stay in case there was an announcement.

Meh:

Food. I found the food in the arena to be okay. It was generic concession food, but after 3 days, I was pretty burnt out on fried food and pizza. They had a healthier choice section, but it was like an ultra-healthy place with like quinoa and kale. I would have liked something in between or meals that included something healthier.
Overall, I absolutely enjoyed the weekend. Being in person to see and experience all the matches was great. Even though I tested positive for COVID when I returned, it was still worth it and I cannot wait for the announcement of the next NA LAN so I can convince my wife to let me attend.
Final note, I forgot my controller when I left. I found a Target store and bought another controller there. My cousin and I found that playing SideSwipe in the downtime between matches helped to pass the time some, even though we were occasionally AFK when looking up to watch some of the better skits the production team put out.
Just my thoughts. Hopefully, they help anyone else who might be attending their first LAN in the future. I love RL Esports!

Kobe Bryant is one of the most polarizing figures in basketball history. He has his die-hard fans who will vouch for him until the end of time, but he also has his fair share of haters who swear he was inefficient and destructive to his team's success.
This post will simply highlight some statistics and various metrics which dispel myths surrounding Kobe's production. Some of this is probably information you already know, but I guarantee you, you'll learn one new thing or stumble into a few cool statistics you've never seen before!
Myth #1: "Kobe only scored a lot of points because he took a lot of shots. He was inefficient."
Kobe Bryant had a 3-year-stretch in the regular season where he averaged 31.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 5.1 APG on 57.1% TS (+3.2% rTS).
Kobe Bryant had a 3-year-stretch in the postseason where he averaged 29.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 5.5 APG on 56.9% TS (+3.9% defense-adjusted rTS). In this 3-year-stretch, Bryant was not only severely injured for one of the years, but he managed to make the Finals every year, and win the championship twice (2009, 2010).
In the 2001 playoffs (i.e. peak 1-year-PS-stretch), Kobe Bryant averaged 29.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 6.1 APG on +5.5% defense-adjusted rTS.
Myth #2: "Okay well, maybe Kobe isn't inefficient. But he's way too inefficient of a scorer to be an all-time great."
Well, this just seems silly. The people who say this are probably the same people who think Harden is inefficient because he has a sub-45 FG% for his career. Is Kobe Bryant inefficient relative to a Michael Jordan or a LeBron James? Absolutely! But relative to other all-time greats, he has cemented himself in the conversation.
Hakeem Olajuwon has a +1.9 rTS% over the course of his career. Kobe Bryant has a +1.9 rTS% over the course of his career. And Kobe has the edge in volume (+ 5.5 per-100 PPG). One of these individuals is often praised for his incomparable offensive arsenal and for being the most skilled big ever whereas the other is labeled an inefficient chucker.
Larry Bird is renowned for his offensive production and efficiency, due to his consecutive 50/40/90 statlines in 1987 and 1988. Throughout the course of his career, Kobe Bryant had an edge over Larry Bird in scoring volume (+ 5.5 per-100 PPG), but trailed in career rTS by 0.9% (+1.9% for Kobe, +2.8% for Bird). In the post-season, Kobe also had the edge over Bird in scoring volume (+ 6.7 per-100 PPG), but he managed to do it on HIGHER efficiency. Kobe had a defense-adjusted rTS% of +2.5 whereas Bird had a defense-adjusted rTS% of +1.7.
Myth #3: "Okay, well, Kobe is overrated! Kobe was just like Iverson, Carter, and every other 2000s chucker who scored his points through isolation play. He was just lucky because he played in LA and benefitted from the marketing."
Well, Kobe was easily the best scorer of the 2000s, and much better than Iverson, Carter, McGrady, or any other "chucker" from that era.
Here are the PPG leaders of the 2000s alongside their TS%:

Kobe Bryant - 28.2 PPG on 55.9% TS
Allen Iverson - 28.1 PPG on 51.8% TS
LeBron James - 27.5 PPG on 55.5% TS
Tracy McGrady - 24.4 PPG on 52.2 % TS
Vince Carter - 23.9 PPG on 53.8% TS

From the 5-leading scorers of the 2000s decade by PPG, Kobe was not only the highest by PPG but also by TS%! Kobe was not just a high-volume scorer; he was an efficient high-volume scorer and the best scorer of his decade.
Myth #4: "Well, Kobe might have been a good scorer, but he was a ballhog. He never passed the ball!"
From 2000-2011 (a rough estimate of Kobe's prime), Kobe led the Los Angeles Lakers in assists per game for 10 out of 12 years. In 2004, he trailed Gary Payton by 0.4 APG and in 2006, he trailed Lamar Odom by 1.0 APG. In this time frame, Kobe Bryant averaged over 5 APG.
Myth #5: "Well maybe Kobe passed the ball, but he wasn't good at it. He was just a chucker at heart."
Kobe was an incredibly skilled passer and it would've been obvious to anyone who watched him play. Was he as good as Steve Nash or Magic Johnson? HELL NO.
But he was a Shooting Guard and for his position, he was a particularly skilled passer.
Kobe's highest-recorded Passer Rating -- a metric which aims to estimate a player's passing skill and ability on a scale from 1 to 10 -- was in the 2003-04 regular season, where he achieved a Passer Rating of 7.3. For reference, this was higher than Michael Jordan's highest-recorded passer rating, which was a 7.0 score in his 1988-89 campaign where he averaged 8.0 APG.
Kobe's highest-recorded Box Creation -- a metric which estimates the amount of open shots you create for teammates in 100 possessions -- was 10.1 in the 2010-11 regular season. Michael Jordan's highest-recorded Box Creation was also 10.1 in the 1989-90 regular season.
Many advanced playmaking metrics point to Kobe's passing ability and playmaking to be on par with that of Michael Jordan, who was the best SG of all-time and arguably the GOAT. Kobe was a phenomenal passer and playmaker for his position.
Myth #6: "Okay, but Kobe's scoring and offensive contributions weren't that impactful. When Shaq left, Kobe never got out of the 1st round! He just puts up empty numbers."
The Lakers "underachieved" from 2005-2007 because Kobe's supporting cast was probably the worst we've ever seen surrounding a superstar in the modern era, but that's a different story for a different day. Kobe, despite being visibly score-first, was extremely impactful to his team's success and offensive health. The Lakers had a Top 8 offense every year from 2005-2007 despite Smush Parker, Luke Walton, and Kwame Brown starting.
In 2006, Kobe Bryant was responsible for +20.56 ORTG impact on the Los Angeles Lakers. When Kobe was on the floor, the 2006 Lakers had the same ORTG as the 2006 run-and-gun Phoenix Suns. When Kobe was off the floor, the 2006 Lakers had one of the worst ORTGs of all-time -- one which was even worse than the 7-59 Charlotte Bobcats in 2012! Kobe Bryant's +20.56 ORTG impact was higher than 2006 MVP Steve Nash's ORTG impact (+8.18) and 2006 MVP candidate Dirk Nowitzki's ORTG impact (+12.0) COMBINED!
Moreover, a 10-year multi-year RAPM from 2002 to 2011 shows that Kobe Bryant has the highest ORAPM score of 6.6 (tied with LeBron, who's obviously nuts). His hyper-efficient contemporaries like Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki (who were phenomenal offensive juggernauts in their own right who won MVP awards) trailed behind with respective scores of 5.5 and 3.8.
Myth #7: "Okay...well. Maybe Kobe was impactful offensively, but he didn't make his teammates better. He just didn't!"
This is my favorite one.
Before arriving to Los Angeles, Pau Gasol was a first option in Memphis. In his 3 post-seasons in Memphis, he won a grand total of ZERO playoff games, going 0-12. Across his first 3 post-seasons, Pau Gasol averaged 20.0 PPG on 53.7 TS%.
In his first 3 post-seasons with Los Angeles, Pau Gasol averaged 18.3 PPG on 59.7% TS. Despite being a 2nd option in Los Angeles, Pau Gasol's scoring output hardly dropped while his efficiency (TS) skyrocketed 6%!
Well that might just be a coincidence, right?
Below are On/Off TS% values for many of Kobe's long-term teammates over the years which illustrate how much of a monumental impact he had on his teammates ability to get easier points:

Myth #8: "Ok, but, Kobe's 2006 season is overrated. All Kobe did is play hero-ball. If anyone else took that many shots, they could've done what he did."
2006 was the one of the greatest scoring seasons of all-time and the most iconic in the modern-era, in my opinion. I'm not sure what to say to people who say this, but here are Kobe's stats in the month of January 2006: 43.4 PPG, 5.6 RPG, and 4.1 APG on 61.1% TS. IIRC, this is the highest-scoring month of all-time if we adjust for pace. And he did it on phenomenal efficiency.
Yes, he scored 81 in a game, and yes, he outscored the eventual Western-Conference champion Dallas Mavericks, but Kobe Bryant went on a historic scoring tear in 2006. It wasn't overrated or unimpressive by any means.
Myth #9: "Fine, maybe Kobe is a good scorer. And maybe he's impactful offensively. But he also had the ball in his hands a lot and was sloppy with turnovers!"
Anyone familiar with TOV% will know that it heavily favors high-usage players and makes them look less turnover prone than they actually are. Ben Taylor of Backpicks has shared a formula for Adjusted TOV% which circumvents this issue and calculates a more accurate turnover rate that is predicated around a player's offensive load.
Chris Paul and Allen Iverson are considered to be two of the best ball-handers of all time. Chris Paul has an Adjusted TOV% of 7.7%. Allen Iverson has an adjusted TOV% of 9.2%. Kobe Bryant has an adjusted TOV% of 8.7%, which sits somewhere between Paul and Iverson.
Kobe Bryant was a terrific ball-handler with good ball security.
Myth #10: "Okay, but Kobe wasn't that great of a playoff performer."
Kobe Bryant upped both his scoring average (+0.6 PPG increase) in the postseason AND his efficiency (+0.64% defense-adjusted rTS increase).
In the post-season, he averaged 25.6 PPG (or 34.7 PPG per-100) on +2.5% defense-adjusted rTS. Bryant's defense-adjusted rTS is higher than Tim Duncan's (+2.3%) and Larry Bird's (+1.7%), two players whose scoring volume was also notably less than Bryant's.
Across his 5 title-winning playoff runs, Kobe Bryant averaged 27.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 5.2 APG on +2.7% defense-adjusted rTS.
Myth #11: "Okay, but Kobe Bryant was trash in the Finals. 41% FG in the Finals? He was a choker."
Kobe Bryant has played in 7 Finals series. For two of them, he was severely injured. It's necessary to add some context when evaluating his Finals numbers.
In 2000, Kobe Bryant was injured by Jalen Rose and played on a bum ankle in the Indiana series. He was nowhere near as impactful as his healthy self and was remarkably inefficient (41.1% TS), but he also decided to play through injury instead of completely sit out. Despite this all, it was the 20-year-old Kobe Bryant that came to the rescue on the road in Indiana for Game 4 when Shaquille O'Neal fouled out. Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and got 4 assists that game. And in overtime, it was all Kobe Bryant. He scored 8 of the Laker's 16 OT points and did so on 4/5 shooting, resulting in a 2-point Lakers victory. He did this on the road, without Shaq, on a bum ankle. His late-game heroics helped the Lakers avoid a 2-2 series tie.
Likewise, in 2010, we all remember how many injuries Kobe had. The broken finger...needing to get stuff injected in his ankles at halftime. He was a mess. But despite that, he averaged 28.6 PPG, 8.0 RPG, and 3.9 RPG on 52.8% TS (~ +0.00% defense-adjusted rTS). Averaging 29 PPG against the 2010 Celtics on average rTS while being banged up isn't too shabby.
Also, Kobe Bryant has faced some disproportionately difficult defenses in the NBA Finals. The average DRTG of teams he has faced in the Finals was 99.8!
Holistically, across his 7 Finals Series, Kobe Bryant has averaged 25.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 5.1 APG on +0.3% defense-adjusted rTS. Despite being banged up in 2 of his 7 Finals Series and having a historically poor Finals performance in another one (2004), Kobe Bryant still managed to end his career with a slightly above-average rTS% in the Finals across his career, once accounting for the defenses he faced.
Also, for his fair share of bad Finals, Kobe has had equally impressive ones.
In the 2002 Finals, Kobe averaged 26.8 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5.3 APG on +12.0 defense-adjusted rTS! Yes, you read that right....+12.0 rTS%. Also, despite playing alongside a peak Shaquille O'Neal, Bryant managed to score the most 4th Quarter points in these Finals which actually had some remarkably close games despite the 4-0 sweep. The 2002 NJ Nets that he faced were the highest-rated defensive team of the 2002 season.
In the 2009 Finals, Kobe averaged 32.4 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 7.4 APG alongside 1.4 SPG and 1.5 SPG on +1.65 rTS%. The 2009 Orlando Magic that he faced were the highest-rated defensive team of the 2009 season.
Myth #12: "Ok, well Kobe wasn't clutch. That was all marketing."

In 2002, 2003, and 2008 playoffs, Kobe Bryant led the league in 4th quarter points (8.1, 9.6, 9.2, respectively). In 2001, 2009, and 2010, Kobe Bryant was Top 5 in the league for 4th Quarter PPG in the playoffs (8.0, 7.6, 7.8).
In 2001 and 2002, Kobe Bryant led the league in 4th Quarter playoff TS% at 63.2% TS and 60.6% TS. In 2003, he was Top 5 with 58.7% TS, and in 2008, he was also Top 5 with 61.1% TS.
SportsCenter also published a statistic in May of 2021 which stated that Kobe Bryant had the most game-tying/go-ahead FG in the final minute of a game in the past 25 seasons with 101 made FGs. LeBron James was 2nd with 97 FGs.
Kobe Bryant was never scared to take the last shot and was always there to bail out his team. He was ready to take the fall or come out as the hero. You don't make that many crucial FGs without being both fearless and clutch.

Yes, unfortunately someone owns it. The domain doesn't look to come cheap either - GoDaddy is listing the brokerage fee alone at $119. Would I love to secure the site and use it as a repository for everything here? Hell yeah. Would that money be better spent being put towards more GME shares? Absolutely. Still, the more I continue to think about it the more I'm starting to realize that acquiring the domain likely isn't a bad idea. Honestly I have no doubt that a SHF has probably bought it up hoping we would try and buy it back only for them to demand exuberant amounts of cash in recompense... Well, it makes logical sense if you think like a SHF.
Thought that was a nifty little nugget of info. Perhaps we can crowdsource this thing and chip in - as much as I like the idea though I have naught the time to build out a full website; but it would be dope to see it done! Not that Reddit isn't a great spot for everything - this would be more like a catalogued archive. Crayons for thought.

No dates! All dates! Two sides of the same coin. No matter how many times it flips in the air when the thing is caught and slapped on the arm each side still gives the same answer: MOASS.
Though it has been the case for a while now it is still pleasant to see that the vibe has become not a question of "If" but of "When". Even then those questions are placated by the Diamond Hand thesis - "More time to buy!"; "Less taxes if we hodl longer than a year!"; "We may be early, but we aren't wrong!". At this point it would seem to me that all the date DD (or lack thereof) has become more of a game than anything. Don't take that as to discredit the work those individuals put in, for they certainly deserve all praise along with constructive criticism. Yet from afar it looks like one big game of guessing how many jelly beans are in a jar. Everyone is making their guesses in all seriousness and good fun.
The beautiful thing is though that the jelly bean game is an example about how the increase in sample size averages out to roughly the correct answer. The more people who guess on the number of jelly beans in the jar the more numbers are added together, and as N (sample size) increases the closes the average of all those guesses will be to the correct amount. This is consensus - groupthink. Individual variables adding up to balance the equation.
I've said this before, but the similarities are too striking and it needs a repeat - we are Geth. (timestamp 2:20)
So, altogether I see all these date theories as guesses on the number of jellybeans (naked shorts?) in the jar. The more there are, the closer this community gets to building a consensus on the truth - just as we have been doing over the past 6 months.
It brings a tear to my eye... 😭
No dates, all dates, no matter. When you hodl GME every day is a party, and each one thereafter a gift with the opportunity to buy more and be a part of one of the greatest communities on the planet. Either way I know that when I wake up on Monday I'm actually excited to see what the day brings. One of these dates WILL be THE date. When is irrelevant, though I'd be remiss to say that we'd all like this to happen sooner rather than later.

BUT NOT FOR ME!
Now that I think about it, toast probably isn't the best metaphor for the market. I actually like toast. I grew up eating toast pretty much every day for breakfast? You know, the one where the loaf is filled with cinnamon swirl and all it needs is a little butter to make any cold morning just that much warmer - the subtle scent of it on the back of your palate as you scarf down a couple of pieces as you catch up on the SportsCenter top 10 plays while you wait patiently for the time when you have to walk up the driveway to catch the bus to middle school...
Where was I? Ah yes, the market isn't toast. Toast is tasty. Even when it's burnt the char provides a nice texture. Nah, the market is more like... oh god I can't think of a breakfast food that I don't like.
Hmmm... how about this. The market is Homer eating 64 slices of American cheese. It just keeps going and going even though all rational thought would tell someone to stop and purge - and only when the light gets cast on the room does the market realize that it's been blinded and is in a bad way.
Folks are counting jelly beans but 2+2 is somehow coming out to 5. Last I checked mathematics haven't changed since I've been a wee crayon. Apes are getting the count right so I don't see why it's so hard for "professionals" to see the writing on the wall. It's almost as if they are counting synthetic jelly beans...

Let them eat their jelly beans. Apes have already figured out that there are more in the jar than should actually exist. And we've already discovered that it doesn't really matter when the final count is tallied as it will have to be at some point anyway. So, we are going about our business - constructing a new vision of the world for ourselves... brick by brick.
I was never much of a creative when it came to freestyling with my Legos as a kid. Following directions to build a set? Sure! I could ace that part. Creating my own vision though? That's where it got rough.
I've never been much of an artist - from scratch that is. A blank canvas... where do I even start? One with but a single line? Now that I can work off of. You'll find my hard drive filled with tons of edited photos, not so much original graphic designs. Paintings? Forget about it, though I can always see an opportunity to where something could have been more. In fact, really the only spot I can think of that my "art" is unique in and of itself is when I put pen to paper.
Hell... even in these posts though the main sections are based off of posts I had seen throughout the day.
Don't get it twisted, this isn't meant to be a derogatory rant against myself - I am painfully aware already that the hardest part of anything for me is to walk that first step. With a lead I can kick it into high gear fast, but a blank slate can paralyze me with indecision. That said, while I carry a slight state of envy for those people who can see a creation in front of themselves with nothing but their wit I also understand that it is not a bad thing to instead try to stand on the shoulders of giants.
So it seems to be with this sub. One idea giving way to another. Snowballing and cascading as more and more pieces of the puzzle are put to task. Educated guess after educated guess added to the average. There is no shame in not being one of the people who posits an idea that fits a chunk of the puzzle together, for there is still the opportunity to tell someone how beautiful the puzzle is or call out that maybe that color there doesn't quite fit with this pattern here. Acknowledgement and constructive criticism. Sample size and averages. Dates and no dates. All one and the same. All reasons to be jacked to the tits.
My friends and I had a saying in college. "Same same, but different!" It sounds rather ludicrous and I admit that it is. For us it was a way of acknowledging that no matter what someone did or does that the goal or outcome was inevitable all the same. Admittedly this was normally said in a slurred manner or as everyone was dying of laughter, but it nevertheless proved a point that sometimes no matter how many times you flip a coin the result always end in action - whatever it happens to be.

This one felt... rather strange to write. I must say it felt odd not to be working on these last Thursday and Friday. My day felt incomplete. An odd weekend that turned my thoughts inside out still lingering as we make our way into Monday... not entirely the best recipe to restoke the fires for the week.
"Whatchu on about, Rally?"
Well, I'm not entirely sure. Yesterday we were driving home. We hit the road at 7. By 10 I already had two coffees in me and most of the trip was accomplished... except I felt like I had been up for 46 hours. Never in my life have I felt so... exhausted, naught but 3 hours from when I had woken up, let alone with stimulants in me. The day was just beginning and I was out for the count with a few more hours of driving/riding left.
I have a hunch as to why. Without disclosing too much let's simply say that Saturday was an emotional day. My inner thoughts were screaming at me for reasons I'm still not sure I understand. It was overwhelming. And, unhealthily, I repressed it all down and internalized it all.
Since then I've practically felt hungover for two days. No strength, nor energy to move and do work. The gym was extra strenuous - my body altogether dehydrated as well for no apparent reason. Amidst it all too my mind feels like I wish I could do that thing in Harry Potter where they could pull out thoughts from their head and store them away.
No, this is not an, "I'm tired about the stock" section. Fuck that bullshit. I'm more jacked than I ever was! This is an, "As a human being I am fatigued" section. I can feel the tension in my shoulders. The grit of my teeth. The ache throughout my whole body. The deep water behind my eyes.
It reminds me as to why I started this Fireside Chat in the first place. To inform, be merry, counsel, and let all else fall away as the hypnotic embers hold our gaze and quiet our minds to the calm night air. We call ourselves Apes but you and I are still human with extremely personal issues to solve for ourselves. Yes, we are here because we like the stock but beyond the bananas in our pockets our phones still ring with the messages that are aren't wont to hear.
We've spoke at length about the fact that this community is so wonderful because we all see each other as individuals beyond our Snoos - our personalities intertwining to give this saga an air of personality; of life! Yet, despite all that we all still carry our own selves behind the camera. Our successes. Failures. Fears. Hopes. Dreams. Things related to but often independent from GME and the Superstonk community. Emotions are not invalid simply because you needed a keyboard to express them properly. It's ok to be an Ape and a human as well. You can have your banana and eat it too.
I am RallyInTheNorth, the Tamarin. I am -------, the Human.
Sometimes I forget that I am human. Sometimes I forget that all the feelings that I experience as a human bleed into my life as a Tamarin. Sometimes I think I need to take my own advice and stare at the sparks dancing in the night sky for a while.
We are imperfect creatures. Many of us don't see the painting to be on the blank canvas. We don't know what to build without a guide to direct our efforts. We eat the jelly beans when we should've been counting them (easier to count, the lesser amount 😉). We hunger, rage, inquire, celebrate, fuck, devour, abstain, reflect, deduce, and so, so much more. Behind the Snoo veil all of those things are muted - or at least have the volume turned down - as we keep the focus of this sub squarely on the task at hand: seeing the MOASS through. Yet, though we may embrace our Ape selves and let our human troubles fall away they are nevertheless there and are not going to go away no matter how hard we try to bury them.
And so I've come to realize - The MOASS will not solve my mental anguish. It will not be a panacea to that which ails our human lives. No. It will not. It is a tool, nothing more, and nothing less. What your human self decides to do with that tool is up to you. It can be the wrench that tightens the bolts on your convictions, or the hammer that smashes the vanity mirror of pride. For me I hope it to be the torque-cutters to my chains of indecision - the lock to this room that I feel trapped in.
Vulcan... ya best get to forgin'.
In the meantime I'll carry the embers from the forge back to this fire and try my best to keep us all warm, comfortable, and filled with ale, barbeque, and s'mores - the humans that we are.
