I had a really fucking bizarre encounter as I was trying to leave for work this morning. There was a whole family who had been standing outside my door for at least 5 minutes, the dogs freaked out for a second when they knocked but I didn't hear them over the dogs. So I open the door, they startle the shit out of me, Wakko (pugger) runs outside and the dad ended up grabbing him but no one fucking moved to let me get my dog! All the while that guy is starting to get pissed that I'm not paying attention to him because the only reason they stopped by was to give me a flyer to some event. I just put the dog back inside, closed the door behind me and drove off. I figured it was just some neighborhood Mormon thing. Nope. I get home and finally look at the thing one of his kids handed me, and it's a fucking JW thing. My dog got assaulted by jehovas witnesses

Combo canceling in a fighting game, makes sense.
However, when that combo cancel actively gives secondary benefits beyond resetting your combo/avatar, it's no longer just a combo cancel, and starts to be a kind of buff.
Now, that's not to say it's bad to do so or to use it.
However, when a fighting game has a low player population, and there's a ranked and unranked play form available, it is best for the combo cancel buff to be limited to the Ranked play, because otherwise the low population is driven further down because people get tired of trying to have a fun time and suddenly being dusted out because people keep abusing an in-game boost, which most fighting games put mechanical blocks against.
So, when you people in Unranked play, ki-cancelling after every single attack they can squeeze on the end of, ofc people will be bothered by that.
It's cheap, lazy and shows you like to ruin people's fun for no reason, because you dont care that it's clearly cheese and you're in a non-sweat zone.
So, next time you're in Unranked play, remember; you're not trying to be a sweat lord, you're trying to have fun and do some cool martial arts fighting. You're not trying to ki-cancel every single second.
And if you're complaining about a combo cancel in a fighting game, stop your complaining. Complain about the people who abuse it in an unnecessary situation.

A former New York Police Department detective took bribes from a group of robbers to help them evade arrest in a string of robberies targeting Asian American small businesses, federal prosecutors alleged Thursday.
Saul Arismendy De La Cruz, a former NYPD officer and then detective, aided a “violent theft crew” led by Dagoberto Soto-Ramirez by taking bribes in exchange for helping members of the four-person group avoid arrest, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York said in press release.
His lawyer, Howard Turner, told NBC News that De La Cruz has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“My client is entitled to the presumption of innocence and a fair trial, and I ask the public to withhold judgment as I evaluate and gather evidence while the judicial process continues,” Turner said in a statement.
From 2017 to 2022, the robbery crew committed a series of home invasion robberies and residential burglaries that primarily targeted the owners of small businesses, according to the indictment, filed in federal court in White Plains, New York. The majority of the targets were Asian American.
The group, armed with guns and other weapons, stole money, jewelry and other property from dozens of homes across the country, the indictment charged.
All of the suspected members, with the exception of Soto-Ramirez, were arrested by federal authorities on Thursday and charged with racketeering conspiracy. Soto-Ramirez additionally has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering and two counts of firearm possession used in a crime. The suspected members of the crew, if found guilty, could face up to 20 years in prison.
De La Cruz — who went by the alias “Nene” and “Venom” in the crew, according to the DOJ — was a field intelligence officer assigned to the 100 Precinct in Queens.
“Corruption, violence, and racially targeted crime are intolerable, and this Office stands with our law enforcement partners in the fight against all three,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement.
NYPD Commissioner Keechant L. Sewell rebuked the former NYPD detective, saying in a statement: “Violent criminal acts like the type alleged today are a disgrace. When such behavior involves a former police officer who shamelessly exploits their position of power for personal gain, it erodes public trust in law enforcement and tarnishes the reputations of the many thousands of women and men who honorably serve New Yorkers each day.”
The U.S. Attorney Office’s White Plains Division is handling the case, and assistant U.S. Attorneys Josiah Pertz and Jeffrey C. Coffman are in charge of the prosecution.

In an earlier, more broadly spoiler-tagged thread, I speculated that maybe the Depths in this game were not actually a new location but a new interpretation of the Dark World and, potentially, other "realms" we've seen in the series as well.

Link to the Past's Dark World

A short recap of why I suspect they're the Dark World to get that out of the way if you don't want the juicier spoilers from the other thread:

• They are notably dark
• They mirror the geography and population centers of the surface world
• Entrances are functionally one-way
• Ganon was trapped there in the Imprisoning War
• They used to be the domain of "gods" before Ganon corrupted them
• The Dark World and Golden Land may have been conflated in myth because they were two halves of a greater Sacred Realm, being the two domains of the zonai we see depicted in Tears: the gold-grassed sky islands and the dark depths

Majora's Mask's Termina

I had only noted one commonality before: entering Termina from Hyrule sure looks an awful lot like diving into a TotK chasm.
Termina's environment is, of course, a farrer cry from the Depths than the Dark World was. There is notably a clear blue open sky with direct sunlight, as well as one other celestial body more of note to the plot. It also pointedly does not mirror Hyrule's geography.
But coming from the same starting position that perhaps one or both stories are fuzzy on the details of how things are depicted or whether certain things are represented or omitted, I'll look instead at commonalities to see if I can find anything compelling.
First, there's the general population. The Depths in TotK contain no living people except for the Yiga in the present day and, while they all notably wear masks and their hideout back in BotW was chasm-adjacent, we have no reason to believe they're from there. This is a clear contrast to Termina's population but, actually, there's evidence in the depths that the other people of Hyrule had populations down here in times past, statues of the Gerudo and gorons and zoras (among others that are less immediately relevant). Termina could represent a time before it was abandoned by civilized society, before it was corrupted by Ganondorf and his bad vibes. After all, we see Termina in a reality where Ganondorf had not been imprisoned there.
Terminian society is noticeably more technologically advanced than Hyrule at the time, something not out of line with the ruined mines we see in depths with their constructs and conveyer belts and various zonai machine parts.
The most striking connection I can make between this game and Tears, though, is "them". One area of the game has an event where it is besieged by what one character thinks might be ghosts and what the real life audience notices sure act a lot like space aliens. Here's a picture of one of them.
Notable features of their appearance include:

• A generally hunched-forward posture
• Long, skinny arms, pointed lazily forward with downturned hands
• Mean-looking orange claws at the end of those arms
• The impression of a torso that cuts off before the legs leaving them hovering inexplicably above the ground
• Two brightly glowing eyes
• A general blinding glow that emits from them
• A smooth, mask-like face with what appears to be another mask covering the bottom half of the first

There are two visuals this calls to mind from Tears of the Kingdom. Number one: the steward constructs. They have the posture, they have the incomplete lower body with the inexplicable hovering, they have the glow, they have the forward-pointing arms and orange claws at the ends, their bodies glow from an interior energy source, and they have two prominent glowing lights on their heads (not their eyes but something you could reasonably mistake for such in the dark). Their long necks and the MM creatures' face masks are admittedly not accounted for but what IS there is strikingly similar.
The second visual is that of the Miner's Gear . This has an even more severe glow than the constructs, plus a goggled metal mask with a mouth portion of a different color. It lacks the creatures' anatomy but you could reasonably assume that that's more an issue of who's wearing it when we see it. Perhaps the miner's clothes you find would be worn by the robots working down there, or perhaps the robots are in designed in the likeness of the miners who originally wore them.
Also of note in general is that the creatures come from and return to the sky, perhaps beings which have entered into the Terminian Depths as Link had from the surface world or the other zonai territory. What they may have wanted with the cows I haven't the foggiest.
But honestly, the overall connection feels pretty thin for Termina, unless you're one of those that feels Termina has a connection to:

Link Between Worlds's Lorule

The theories form back when Link Between Worlds came out mention that, like Termina, Lorule has characters which are counterparts to characters from Link's own world. It also has a populace that begins wearing masks to try and blend in with the monsters. It has its own Triforce, not unlike the Triforces you saw on the salacious cube statues in the Stone Tower Temple in the original N64 version of Majora's Mask, Triforces not evidently inverted but located near a famously invertible dungeon. I'll not be posting pictures of those statues because this is a family thread.
Notable to Tears of the Kingdom, Lorule is also like the Dark World with its geographical mirroring and literal perpetual darkness, and it is accessed by crawling through ominously colorful and smoke-emitting cracks in (mostly) the earth. It's actually even more like the Depths than the Dark World was in that its geography is more inhospitable, with lots of impassible barriers that you can only cross by crossing them in the light world and then traveling back.
Like Majora's Mask, not super compelling on its own but if it and Termina are themselves the same place then I think it's far more likely that they're both also the Dark World than either one appears on its own.

Twilight Princess's Twilight Realm

I didn't originally posit this in the other thread but somebody else did and the more I think about it the more compelling it feels. People have speculated since Breath, after all, that the twili's ancestors were the zonai based on some aesthetic overlaps.
The miner's armor is notably made of chains and rags, implying that miners down there may have been prisoners. The banishment of the "interlopers" may have been the zonai banishing a faction of their own and the whole mining operation was part of their punishment not unlike how some of us in the real world use convicts as slave labor. Cool country I live in.
Of note, the "of the Depths" clothing set looks pretty aesthetically similar to Zant's outfit, perhaps implying a cultural connection. If nothing else, it pairs well with his helmet if you're a fan. The twili association with pixels is also a match for Link's cool new zonai-created transplant scars.
And connecting the Twilight Realm to the previous two Depths candidates, the twili also seem to have an interest in masks. Zant wears a face-covering helmet, Midna wears (part of) a face-covering helmet, Midna doesn't know where shields go, and the shadow beasts appear to follow suit with more face-shields.
Come tell me I'm an what I missed or misremembered or just that I'm an idiot grasping at straws, or alternatively join in grasping at your own straws for any other worlds I've left out of the conversation.
(To be frank, I really hope the lore doesn't point to every world other than Hyrule being the same world, that's a much smaller and less interesting universe than if they're different. Still, it's interesting to check if dots connect.)

While scrolling through Instagram, I stumbled upon an obviously fake profile featuring a 'dying dog' and its 'owner' requesting money for treatment. Initially dismissing it as foolish, I decided to check the comments, and to my surprise, people actually believed it.
Intrigued by the gullibility I witnessed, I decided to conduct a little experiment. Creating my own profile, I collected various videos of a single dog from the internet, set up accounts on Instagram and TikTok, and began sharing sad videos of the dog accompanied by sad music. I fabricated a story claiming that the dog, let's call him ‘Connor’, had recently been diagnosed with cancer and had approximately a month left before irreversible damage occurred. I sought financial assistance, stating that the cost of treatment amounted to $1620.
Within just three days, the pages garnered a staggering 60k followers, and to my surprise, I received around £300 in donations when I checked my PayPal account.
However, here’s the however, as I read the heartfelt messages from individuals who claimed to have experienced similar situations and were therefore offering their support, I couldn't bear it any longer. I faked the dog's death and ultimately refunded all the donations instead of keeping them.

Lately, my posts have been labeled as negative but I consider them real. However, I have not actively visited game as much in recent posts other than posting lay reports. As a South Asian man, or really any man but especially South Asian, there is one secret about game, dating, and women you must understand if you want to get laid.
The who always beats the how.
What is the difference between an Indian guy that slays in the US and one that is borderline incel? We can talk about mindset, game, looks, and all of that and they do matter a lot. However, when you get past the point where you are no longer shooting yourself in the foot, the who will always beat the what and the how.
Let's take an example.
You go up and approach a girl at a bar who happens be this hot blonde from Toronto. Already, you know that this woman grew up in a racist environment where Indian men are seen as second class citizens. The idea of her dating or getting with an Indian guy is just a fantasy. Obviously, you can vet a bet and screen her, maybe be more forward and aggressive in your approach. Now that you know this, your strategy becomes to immediately lose early if you need to lose.
An example of this is you should try to lead her from one end of the bar to the end in order to test for compliance. However, the point is that you are either trying to exit that set or really push that interaction fast to see if she is serious. The reason I don't say you immediately reject her is because preferences can change based on where she is. For example, I have slept with tons of Italian women who would not even want to be seen with me or a black guy if they were in Italy. Since they were in the US, different story.
The point is that the kinds of women you go after matter more than how good your game actually is.
With all else being equal, an Indian dude with average game going after women from receptive cultures is going to do far better than an Indian dude with tight game who is going after women from cultures that are racist towards Indian men (White Brits, White Canadians, WASPs from NYC and LA, etc.).
Does this mean you avoid women as soon as they tell you they are of a prejudiced culture? The reason I say no is because every woman bends her preference when she is traveling. Sometimes, women find the taboo to be interesting when they can get away with it.
However, you are trying to lose early in the interaction by pushing for compliance and moving fast. The last thing you want to do is spend all night talking to a couple of girls from unreceptive cultures who are also playing too many games and making you buy them drinks.
But if you do want to get laid a lot, you are going after women from cultures warmer towards Indian men.
Some examples of this include Russian women, African American women, Hispanic American women, Filipinas, other South Asian women, Latinas in general (or in most cases), small town white girls, and women into aspects of Indian culture. In fact, you spend almost all of your time around women of these cultures and make women of less receptive cultures prove themselves to you.
When you start doing this, you notice that the game becomes easier. You notice that women almost do the work for you.
This is where everything else comes into play.
If you max out your looks and get a healthy mindset, you have done a lot of the work. Now go after the right groups of women and it becomes almost automatic. You notice less flaking, less resistance, and less shit tests.
The guys who get laid a lot are not constantly dealing with shit tests or resistance. In fact, those guys know to walk away if it gets that bad and not waste time on girls who will make them work that hard for a lay. A lot of times, those guys are spending their time on the right kinds of women and avoiding most of the wrong kinds of women.
Overtime, this will sprinkle into you eventually getting women from more prejudiced backgrounds as well. You will notice that when the racist WASPy girl from NYC is seeing Latinas and other white girls like you, she will lower her guard more. You must respect, honor, and give full care to your market at all costs.
Women from receptive cultures get the best treatment from you and they get preferential treatment. Women from more racist cultures and environments should be getting snubbed and ignored unless they have proven themselves to be different.

Rigby is an asshole. We all know this. Although I have to admit I can understand why he acts how he does, Mordecai is physically abusive, abandons Rigby, and didn't come to Rigby's graduation because he was mad. Muscle Man is just a jerk to everyone in general but I've noticed it's normally Rigby who gets worse treatment from Muscle Man. Skips is also a bit of a jerk to Rigby at times (making fun of Rigby, hitting Rigby at times, hell even killing Rigby once). He also comes from a household where his dad favorites his brother until the prom episode where he actually seems to care about Rigby, but that still doesn't change years of choosing favorites, on top of that his coworkers and best friend treat him like shit (except for Eileen, Pops and HFG). I'm gonna bring up something that most people use to say Rigby is an asshole, Mordecai killed Rigby by sending him to the void. Although we all know that Rigby did push Mordecai first, it has been shown multiple times that Mordo knows he is much stronger then Rigby and upon knowing this he still pushes Rigby into the void. There's also the episode "Lift with your back" where Mordecai asks Rigby to cover for him multiple times and doesn't even make an thank Rigby, and when he does I feel as if it isn't really that genuine. Also it's been shown multiple times that Mordecai enjoys hurting Rigby. You also have to remember the time Mordo abandoned Rigs on the side of the road without even considering the amount of danger he could be putting his "best friend" in, especially when you consider Rigby's height and how it is highly possible Rigby could get hit by a fucking car. Why did amethyst move?!
It all started about two weeks ago. “Guys I have something to tell you…” amethyst said in a soft voice.

After all that packing I was exhausted, so I put my pajamas on and got ready for bed then laid down and went to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up and got ready then headed downstairs. I see my parents packing up the living room and kitchen. “I’m taking this as I’m not going to school and I’m packing all day?” I ask and they both nod. So, I grabbed a lot of boxes and went up to my room and just packed a bunch of my stuff up. I got to my clothes and that is when I made a keep pile and a donation pile. Let us just say that a lot of clothes went into the donation pile.
I walked downstairs to my parents, who were sitting on the couch. “Hey mom, dad when we move, I’m going to need more clothes.”
My mom responded, “we will go shopping tomorrow, okay?”
