2023.05.28 21:13 Few_Society_1199 100 days and counting
I am at 100 days without self stimulation! However, with regret, the porn abstinence is a bit more of a challenge as it shows up on social media news feeds beyond my control. While it is true I do not “Search” for the porn, I have still seen it during this 100 days of no fapping. Now, I can report, that when I see this porn it does not make me feel the “Urge” to fap, it’s just annoying how readily available it is everywhere. For others, even a peak of porn could trigger the urge to fap, so if you’re a person who is more visually stimulated, do not use my story as an excuse to think viewing porn is okay. Because for me I’m not a visually stimulated person and it does not have any effect whatsoever as to whether or not I Fap or not. Instead of fapping I have planted 13 trees since February!!!! So instead of griping my own root, I’ve gripped real ones while planting ;)

2023.05.28 21:10 Red_Hood_JJ Penguinz rant
I wanted to rant briefly.
Penguinz is a well-known YouTuber who is a comedic news reporter and has a large following. I wanted to discuss how he got such a large following because, in my opinion, he's a cringy guy whose jokes aren't all that funny and who speaks at a speed of 0.75 in every video. I swear, I'm sitting here wondering how my friends manage to watch it. I used to subscribe, but that was basically only for me to receive the drama or news. For example, even though Keemstar was embarrassing but got right to the point, I didn't care, and I've since discovered better news sources.
I wasn't aiming to be rude or criticize my pals for watching him or anything else they enjoy; I just wanted to share my little rant online to get other people's opinions.

2023.05.28 21:09 CrownxJulez Red Light Roleplay 18+ Hundreds of custom vehicles Thousands of Clothing Options Street & Open Wheel Racing Competitions Government & Elections Realistic PD/FD/EMS Structure Player Owned Businesses Gang War System Tons of Legal & Illegal Activities Packed with the BEST Scripts!
Red Light Roleplay https://discord.gg/redlightrp Hiring all positions! Law Enforcement, Paramedics, Firefighters, Lawyers & Judges wanted - complete government system! Run for Governor & more! Business Grants available for Player Run businesses!
We've rebuilt our server from scratch on the latest QB-Core framework and added tons of new content to make your experience in our city one that you'll want to keep coming back to. From gameplay and quality of life improvements to career opportunities, an organized government with elections, realistic Police Department structure, gangs and territories, legal/illegal activities, thousands of custom clothing options, custom vehicles, player-run businesses, and much more, we have something for everyone here at Red Light Roleplay.
GANGS: Our city has a territory map/turf war style gang system! Hideouts included free for new gangs! Free Gang Package: Gang Territory, hideout and access to a drug lab. Capture territories by gaining loyalty, either through selling drugs, spray painting your gang tag or taking on enemy gangs in their territory.
FIRST RESPONDERS: We've invested in some great detailed scripts for Police, Firefighters and Paramedics to improve QoL and make each job more fun and engaing.
Police have an in depth evidence system which allows troopers or detectives to sweep vehicles for evidence, inspect locks for tampering, see bullet calibers/trajectories when investigating impacts, drug test and breathalyze civilians and much more.
Firefighters have different types of fires they'll need to combat accordingly, from normal to electrical, chemical or more. Strategic thinking and teamwork is used to put out each fire, using limited water sources from each fire engine unless connected to a hydrant.
Paramedics and Doctors utilize a medical resource that requires a different procedure for each possible cause of injury, each requiring different items. Players can be placed in a wheelchair or crutch for x amount of time when recovering.
RACERS: Competition races are automatically set up each day at 2PM EST and are held every night starting at 7PM EST. Normal practice runs take place regularly and are set up by higher level racers - any one with a Racing Tablet can enter either, and competition races pay racers out while keeping track of your personal ELO rating. An organized (legal) Open Wheel series sponsored by local business owners is also something we're looking at getting set up.
We have worked hard and dedicated a lot of time and resources to bringing to life a feature packed server, with the best premium scripts, such as:

2023.05.28 21:08 Lea-ChainTrail Feedback requested: launching our new State of Algorand daily report
| https://preview.redd.it/yk09c69iwn2b1.png?width=2400&format=png&auto=webp&s=bb9bf2edb928969cfcc6d87b7dc73f9790de5d00 Hi there! 📢 We've got some exciting news! We've just launched a new feature on ChainTrail.io, namely the State of Algorand (daily) report. 📈 With this report you'll stay up-to-date with critical metrics like total transactions, average transactions per second, top 5 dapps & applications and more! You can signup to this daily report by creating an account on chaintrail.io/registe (you can always opt-out afterwards). Use of AI This is also the first product we've integrated OpenAI's software with. Helping us writing a nicely crafted summary every single day about the past 2 days blockchain / dapps performances. We've planned to integrate AI a lot more into ChainTrail to get better and smarter insights on the Algorand blockchain developments! So stay tuned to learn more about that. Any feedback? Yes please! Of course we'd be curious with your experiences on this report (or ChainTrail in general). So don't hesitate to reach out to us on this thread or Twitter (make sure to follow us). submitted by Lea-ChainTrail to algorand [link] [comments] |
2023.05.28 21:08 marvolousco Is there any serious posting to LinkedIn left at all?
I never entered LinkedIn so far, mostly because of stories of very dark patterns before being acquired by MS: completely ignoring your 3rd party tracking preferences, auto-mailing people generic stuff, even if they were dead already; things like this, things you better sanction.
So looking at this sub, I was under the impression that this is just the normal percentage of people you have in any platform, like Facebook, Reddit, Twitter.
Unfortunately, my company has discovered LinkedIn for marketing purposes (or what the marketing people think it serves as), so I had to enter this – undercover, not revealing my face or data, yet.
But holy fucking shit, what is this? My whole feed/stream is full of more or less related cringe posts, shady business news, philosophy as deep as a 14yo will produce, every single person I've checked so far engaged in liking such garbage, the profile descriptions or subtitles are full of narcistic texts, emojis everywhere: ✅🚀💯💪 ... as if there's no tomorrow left for using them. Boomer Facebook hurts less when reading. Is this what apparently all professionals at work really do?
I don't even know if the people I considered intelligent up until then just to try to blend in, or need a little downgrade in my view.
Once there was a local competitor service that lost the race against LinkedIn, but it was quite calm: a job posting, recruiter mail or corp news any when and then. But it was mostly knowing where coworkers had left, when their birthday is, and to contact them in case of offering a job, or booking them as freelancer, giving away leads and links.
LinkedIn isn't that remotely, is it? It's social media for people who live their narcissism under the disguise of professionalism.
Guys, the bar of posting lunatic content of LinkedIn really needs to be raised here, otherwise I can just go directly to this page myself.

2023.05.28 21:00 InfernoSub Oh well..
2023.05.28 21:00 Tempburner2023 I need help, this is slowly destroying my life
About me: 37M, U.K, Married, No kids
I’ve had OCD for a while, it originally started off as the minor type, You know like checking the plugs twice before leaving the house making sure they’re all switched off, this then formed another sub off OCD into hit and run OCD which left me scared to drive and I’d turn back on my route in case I hit that pedestrian or cyclist continuously doubting myself, thankfully I’ve managed to control this somehow myself, and I’m now fair more confident then I was but still end up checking the odd news report.
Fast forward to now and I’ve now developed some form of sexual assault OCD,(Note: I’ve never committed sexual assault, never want to) this has genuinely left me completely with false memories/events/intrusive thoughts, constantly doubting myself, I genuinely get scared heading to the supermarket, coming home thinking did I assault that women/man/kid I walked past.
We had a takeaway pizza yesterday and a women delivered the food, I collected it from her and sat down at the table then instantly had to go to the toilet as I was succumbed to a crushing sense of anxiety that I assaulted her.
I’m literally crying typing this, I dare not tell my wife as I’m afraid how’ll she’ll react.
I want help, I need help, I don’t know whether this post is in vain, But please can someone offer recommendations U.K. based, be it books, Therapists, doctors, websites, apps.

Georgy sat at his console on the bridge of the Nikitovna, trying to ignore the constant bustle going on around him. His mind overflowed with worries and doubts. Something was wrong, he was sure of it. The commander of the rival fleet had run amok seemingly without support from their homeland, but had received some three additional fleets’ worth of ships without much fuss shortly afterward. There had to have been something the Poslushi weren’t showing.
Georgy’s phone buzzed in his pocket; someone was calling him. He pulled out the device and checked the caller ID: Svetlana. He tapped the green Answer button and put the phone to his ear. “Hello, is this Admiral Kuznetsov?” the light voice of his niece said.
“Yes, Svetka. What is it?”
“Are you busy?” Svetlana’s tone was almost pleading.
“No, why?”
“Well, I have news. I, erm…” Svetlana paused, trying to find the words. Her voice trembled slightly with nerves.
“Spit it out, Svetka.”
“I, uh, found somebody. He’s really nice.”
“Is it that German boy?”
The line went dead for a moment. “How in God’s name did you know?”
“I’m not blind, Svetka; I saw how you eyed him. Is he with you?”
“Yes, Uncle. Do you want to speak with him?”
“Yes, please.” Georgy replied. There was a minor clatter on the other end, and then a more masculine voice spoke, a slightly synthetic edge to it given by a translator. “Admiral Kuznetsov, sir.”
“Johann, is that your name?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Why are you after my daugh–my niece, Captain?” Georgy hastily corrected himself; Svetlana hated it when he called her his daughter, even though he had been her guardian long enough for the distinction to become moot.
“I think we have chemistry, sir. We get along well, she’s quite funny, and she’s so unbelievably smart.”
“And why am I to believe that once she ceases to amuse or provide an intellectual challenge, you will not leave her, Captain? My niece is a good Russian lady; she courts to marry, not entertain.”
“I don’t think that’ll ever happen, sir. She certainly hasn’t gotten any less interesting so far.”
“Are you going to marry her?”
Georgy could faintly hear Svetlana facepalming and suppressed a chuckle. “I’m sorry, sir?”
“Did you not hear what I said? Svetlana courts to marry.”
There was a pause while Johann considered his options. Then, “If it works out, then I’ll marry her.”
“That’s a good answer; you’re not presumptuous like some of the others. Now, will you treat her correctly and with respect to her ladyhood?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And will you appreciate her day after day?”
“Yes, sir.”
“And are you willing to demonstrate that you can be a good courtier and husband, to me and her, before our very eyes?”
“Yes, sir.”
Georgy nodded. “Then we have no quarrel. For now.”
“Thank you… sir?”
Suddenly, the wavering voice of the radar officer rose above the general hum of the bridge. “Admiral…?”
“What is it?” he turned, cupping his hand over the phone.
“Registering new contacts on the forward sensors, sir. A lot of contacts, sir.”
“Uncle? What’s wrong?” Svetlana asked.
“I’ll call you later, Svetka.” Georgy said hastily, cutting the connection before she could respond. Then, he leapt from his seat and went to see the radar holograph.
At first, his eyes refused to accept the dense cloud of blinking red dots that had appeared on the opposite side of the planet as being really there. Perhaps an asteroid that had previously gone undetected had gone within the planet’s Roche limit and fractured, but it wouldn’t explain the dispersion of the contacts. Besides, rock chunks didn’t emit radio signals. Georgy’s jaw fell agape in abject horror as the radar officer read out the counts.
Eleven thousand enemy craft. Seven thousand of them were slave and supply barges, with the rest being a mixture of different combat vessels. There were hundreds of the same cruisers their commander piloted, along with dozens of even larger battleships, with estimated tonnages in the hundreds of thousands. However, even these titans were dwarfed in mass by the thousands of little frigates, who outweighed them by sheer numbers. CAST’s aerospace forces were outnumbered thirty to one, and their men on the ground were not by much better.
Poslush had stopped seeing this as a game.
“Wh-what do we do?” the radar officer asked, his face pale and eyes wide with terror.
Georgy took a breath, trying to collect his thoughts. “We call our men on the ground. And we tell them to get the hell off Omen.”
—
“Well, that was… awkward.” Johann said, putting the phone down on the tent’s floor. Svetlana looked at him comfortingly.
“It went a lot better than with some of the other men I brought home.”
“Oh?” Johann raised an eyebrow.
“I had a thing for bad boys when I was just getting out of secondary school. The small-time mobster I took a liking to thought he was tough until Georgy threatened to sic the GRU on him.”
“Your uncle tried to get the Russian national intelligence service to take out your date?”
“It was a bluff; he didn’t have that kind of authority at the time. He had the company of Naval Infantry guarding his flagship at his disposal instead.”
“That isn’t any better.”
“Oh, no, it is. The Naval Infantry will just put two rounds in your chest and leave you. Shack up with the GRU, and you’ll become quite well acquainted with the bicycle pump they shove up your ass and pressurize.”
“And I thought the CIA was mean.” Johann said, raising his eyebrows and pursing his lips as he considered the prospect.
“We’re just more direct.” Svetlana said matter-of-factly, only for Johann to seemingly ignore her.
“Hear that?” Johann said, holding a hand up. The tent fell deathly silent. Then, a faint sound prickled Svetlana’s ears and made the hairs on her neck stand up straight. In the far distance, an air raid siren was wailing.
“The hell?” Johann said, standing up. Fumbling with the tent flaps, he eventually emerged to see… nothing. No distant flames of war, no screaming jets overhead. The only things wrong about the scene were the strange, shifting stars in the night sky.
Suddenly, Hersch grabbed him from behind, pulling him away from the tent. “Hess! Come on, we need to get the tank!”
“Johann? What’s happening?” Svetlana asked, peeking out from the tent.
“I don’t know–I’ll tell you as soon as I do!” Johann cried hastily, then turned and ran with Hersch.
“The hell’s going on!?” Johann yelled.
“New offensive! We have to push the lines forward or they’ll punch through to the base!”
Soon, they arrived within sight of the Leopard. Hiedrich waved them closer from the commander’s cupola, dropping down into the vehicle as they approached. Johann jumped down after him and situated himself in his seat, Hersch slamming the hatch behind himself as he got in the driver’s spot. Seconds later, the tank’s engine purred to life and it shot forward, joining a growing line of armored vehicles that led out of Fort von Richthofen.
Johann slipped his radio headphones on and listened intently to what the commander of the 467th was saying.
“...receiving reports of large numbers of enemy craft in low orbit. The Poslushi have summoned reinforcements, possibly numbering in the millions. CAST is pulling back to fortify Kormoran and New ‘Couver, but they need to buy time first. That’s where we come in. Our task is to hold the line against the Poslushi long enough to evacuate Fort von Richthofen, and then we’re out. Over.”
Johann thumbed the transmitter switch on his radio and broadcast to the remainder of his platoon. “Well, you heard the man. Proceed to defensive positions, over.”
A GPS screen to his right flashed twice, and a position at the very edge of the plateau Fort von Richthofen was situated on was highlighted. “Hersch, you know what to do.” Johann ordered. Hersch nodded and the Leopard adjusted course, leading the rest of the platoon north. Along the way, Johann shuddered with horror. A million was a number almost impossible to even think about, much less several. Johann hadn’t really considered the possibility that he wouldn’t make it home; of course, it was always there, but it never really came across his mind for more than a few seconds. Now, however, that dark chance was fully in view. For a moment, Johann wanted to stop the tank, to shut everything out and try to imagine that it would all be okay.
Then, a steely calm descended over him. He wasn’t fighting for himself alone, but everyone. The fate of every human being presently alive and yet to be born hinged on his duty. If he were to die in service to his nation, CAST, humanity itself…
Then so be it.
—
“Wait. How many?” President Herald asked, his hand reflexively covering his heart.
“Eleven thousand, sir. It’s estimated that a few thousand more will arrive soon, and this isn’t even close to their full fleet.” Secretary of Defense Margaret McNamara responded, her mouth drawn into a grim line. She placed a stack of papers two centimeters thick on the president’s desk, a massive set of defensive projections and increasingly-pessimistic war plans. Herald’s heart leapt into his throat as he saw a particular scenario featured prominently. The scenario, a defense plan by the name of Steadfast Shield - Patton Contingency, was drawn up under the previous administration during the Contact Wars, discussing the possibility of an encounter with a vastly more powerful and actively malicious alien intelligence. It proposed a doctrine of defeat in depth, trying not to win battles, but to simply delay the inevitable long enough to launch a series of AI-guided sleeper ships out of the galaxy by the thousands, in the hopes that one or two would escape detection and destruction, find a habitable world, and thus ensure the continuity of humanity.
Even modified for the Poslushi, who weren’t as far ahead as the hypothesized enemy, the chances of Earthborne government continuing to exist and CAST retaining its independence weren’t good. CAST’s forces, even if they joined with AHINT, would, in all likelihood, simply be crushed under the Poslush Combine’s weight of numbers, and it would only be more devastating to humanity if it escalated into a nuke-slinging match.
Still, Herald had to stay calm. The position of head of state was a paranoid depressive’s worst nightmare: one genuinely could not let their true emotions show, or risk being pounced upon by their enemies. If he lost his cool, it would only hasten the destruction of all humanity held dear.
The odds were suddenly stacked against CAST. Herald, if he were religious, would’ve had his faith shaken by now. However, he did play American football back in his college years, and if there was one thing he knew, it was that Hail Maries tended to come out of the woodwork when the team was down beyond hope.
All he had to do was make the throw.
(AN: People get down on their luck sometimes. Bad things happen and they get knocked down, but the universe has a way of keeping things in balance. Luck, karma, whatever you call it, things work out in the end.
That's what people who get back up again say, anyway.

2023.05.28 20:52 Thisvthat [Anime] The Bones Spreadsheet: Denials, Doxxed Employees, & Leaked Anime
On June 21, 2008, an interesting file was uploaded to uploader.jp–a free file storage, and sharing, website. The file was a spreadsheet that appeared to come from the animation studio Bones. The spreadsheet had eight columns: "Name," "TEL.," "Cell Phone," "Remarks," "Rank (ABC, and X)," "Status," "etc.," and "Address." In total, the personal information of 476 animators and directors was made available to anyone with the right link. If having your phone number and address made public wasn’t enough, people would also see where you were ranked amongst your peers. And the “Remarks” section wasn’t exactly kind. People were labeled everything from “slow writer” and “won’t answer phone calls” to “rough and useless” and “Cancer of the company.” While this would’ve been a story regardless, there were two notes that would make this spreadsheet irresistible to anime fans. Next to Yasuhiro Irie, an episode director on 2003’s Fullmetal Alchemist, was the short note: "Hagane 2 kantoku" (Fullmetal 2 Director). And next to Tensai Okamura, the director of Darker than Black, was "Darker 2 junbi-jū" (preparing for Darker 2).
While some people did manage to find it, news about the leak wouldn’t make headlines until July 6th, when the studio’s president, Masahiko Minami, released a statement. In it, he stated that the spreadsheet did not come from Bones, and accused a “third party” of releasing this fake document in order to damage the studio’s reputation. “Regarding the matter of an Excel file containing personal information of our staff … our internal investigation has confirmed that there is no information managed in a similar format within our company, and that the file does not contain any leaked internal management information. Therefore, we have determined that the descriptions of staff attributes in the file are not internal company data, but were created and published by a third party for the purpose of slander and libel. …we are currently conducting an investigation to identify the offender. As soon as we are able to identify the offender, we plan to take strict action [Edited for clarity].”
The conversation among anime fans was primarily about whether or not these two shows even needed sequels, and it appears as if most people were operating under the assumption that the document was fake. And in a follow-up interview with Anime News Network, Minami stated that the studio hadn’t made the decision to greenlight sequels for Fullmetal Alchemist or Darker than Black. “It hasn't been decided yet. We are interested in doing them. As original science-fiction works, they were extremely fascinating. With these kinds of dramatic storylines, I feel that there's a lot we could do potentially [Edited for clarity].”
But not everyone bought Bones’ explanation. The writer of the Moon Phase blog had heard rumors about a new Fullmetal Alchemist project a while ago. “The BONES leaked file, they just announced that that was not an asset under their control, but they didn't mention the authenticity of the contents. It seems that the personal information was correct. I received a tip a few months ago... ‘Fullmetal Alchemist: Original Story Version (tentative)’ was scheduled to be officially announced at the end of this year and would be launched in a big way… I had been looking for a good time to post it in this column, but I never thought it would be confirmed in such a way…”
The most notable skeptic was acclaimed director Satoshi Kon. He not only thought that this kind of list wouldn’t be surprising to see at a studio, but that it would be ridiculous to think that it didn’t come from within Bones. “As a person in the industry, the existence of such a list is not surprising at all, but it is unacceptable to include information such as ‘XX's girlfriend,’ ‘XX's ex-boyfriend,’ or ‘he is dating XX-san,’ regardless of the technical ability of the animator. … A list like this should never be leaked, but anyone with a modicum of imagination nowadays would know that it is impossible for such a list not to be leaked… it is not a memo for the individual who made it, but a list to be shared with other people, so the risk of leakage is high from the outset. In other words, it was bound to leak out. The response of the production company that is said to be the source of the leak also makes me tilt my head back. They say it was ‘a malicious act that defamed our company.’ What? Who would have the time to make such a detailed list outside of work? Whatever one may think of it, it must be internal information from the production department. The ‘We have confirmed that there is no information managed in a similar format and that the internal files were not leaked.’ ...... is, come on, that's not even a basis for anything. That kind of narrative would not be convincing even in the animation that we produce. You might want to think a little more about your response, Mr. B. Oh, by the way, these initials are not ‘B’ in the ‘ABC rank of production companies,’ just to be clear [Edited for clarity].”
Bones decided to work with the The Association of Japanese Animations (AJA), an organization formed by various animation studios, and the Japanese Animation Creators Association (JAniCA), a labor organization for directors and animators. And both of them would release statements shortly after the Bones announcement. On July 11th, JAniCA published a press release. They began working with Bones on July 8th and would serve as a third party reviewer of their internal investigation. While the file could no longer be viewed from the original source, the information was still out there. People had downloaded the spreadsheet, blurred out the names and addresses, and re-uploaded it. They reached out to various websites hosting the file, and asked them to remove it. According to JAniCA, “...it is still possible to identify individual animators and directors, and some of the leaked information contains defamatory statements against the animators and directors concerned. … We also request that the operators of news sites that regularly support Japanese animation, as well as those who have this leaked information or know its location (URL), take action to delete the leaked information and its links, and to stop distributing it.”
Things went quiet for a while, since there were no updates on Bones’ investigation. Until the second half of August came around, and a new Fullmetal Alchemist anime was revealed on the obi of the manga’s 20th volume. This briefly brought the Bones leaks back into the conversation, but that wouldn’t last very long. People appeared to have forgotten all about it by the time Bones released the results of their investigation to the public on November 18. According to their report, the file was not created within the studio and was uploaded from another location. Bones would end up paying the victims an inconvenience fee and offered to help them with the cost involved with changing their contact information. Going forward, they would implement stronger information management controls, and develop a confidentiality pledge for their employees.
They still believe that the file was uploaded by a third party with “malicious intent.” While they think that it’s “highly likely” that someone associated with the company was involved, they weren’t able to determine who actually did it. And since it's been more than 10 years since this story received an update, I think it’s safe to assume that whoever was responsible has gotten away with it.
Side Note:
As for Darker than Black, in June 2009, fans got the news that they had been waiting for. The second season of Darker than Black was confirmed in the 12th issue of Young Gangan. The official title of the series was revealed in the 14th issue of Young Gangan as Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor, and it aired from October 8, 2009 to December 24, 2009.

2023.05.28 20:32 InvstgatrResPublica Echoes of Past Harm in Referendum Debate - Protecting First Nations Mental Health
It seems like déjà vu as we witness another vital referendum debate escalating in our country. The looming question of First Nations' recognition in our constitution is understandably contentious. However, I want to address an issue that's become all too familiar - a disturbing rise in abuse, particularly online, aimed at Indigenous Australians.
This unsettling pattern mirrors what we observed during the same-sex marriage debate, where members of the LGBTQ+ community were subjected to disproportionate amounts of online abuse. The Guardian has reported similar trends now impacting our Indigenous communities as the debate progresses. (
link)
Both these instances illuminate a concerning dynamic where public debates around civil rights inadvertently fuel increased abuse and discrimination against the very communities we are trying to uplift. In the midst of these critical discussions, the mental health of our First Nations people is being jeopardised.
We need to learn from our past and make a conscious effort to conduct these discussions in a respectful and compassionate manner. It is our responsibility to ensure that the mental health of Indigenous Australians is not compromised due to the stress and vitriol of public debate.
In light of this, I would like to share some mental health resources that First Nations people may find helpful:
- Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14 - Crisis support service offering short-term support at any time.
- Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636 - Immediate support for those feeling anxious, stressed, or depressed.
- Headspace: 1800 650 890 - Youth mental health service for individuals aged 12-25.
- NACCHO: The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation - Providing a directory of local Aboriginal health services.
- MensLine Australia: 1300 78 99 78 - Support for men with emotional health and relationship concerns.
- Embrace Mental Health: Indigenous-specific mental health resources and support.
- Indigenous Wellbeing Centre: Holistic health services for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Just as we learned from the same-sex marriage debate, we must recognise the adverse impact these public debates can have on targeted communities. We must strive to foster an environment of understanding, respect, and inclusivity, even amidst disagreement.
Let's ensure that our push for progress does not leave mental health in its wake. Because the health of our society is not merely determined by the rights we gain but also by the care we show each other along the way.

2023.05.28 20:31 OpenUpTheGatesofHell Question
My dad was a huge Jethro Tull fan, even meeting Ian Anderson a few times backstage at several concerts and corresponding with other fans, having them send things. He has the magazines that I suppose someone in England started to keep up with the news before the internet was a thing (????) and book sets and vinyls that my dad said should be worth a bit. He wants me to sell them but I don't know where, any ideas?

2023.05.28 20:29 Lunar_Aspect Deactivated? Avoid ALL services, Get an Attorney
When my account with Uber became deactivated, it was nothing short of an existential crisis personally. In large part, it was a significant income I came to rely on. My rating as an Uber driver was 5 stars, without a single negative complaint. I also performed services for Uber Eats delivery with above average ratings. The last year many news reports have surfaced concerning drivers with an otherwise exemplary performance record with Uber, whose accounts were deactivated for erroneous and typically unfounded claims. The appeal process is essentially a complete charade, whereupon drivers are guilty until proven otherwise, regardless of how baseless the claims are. My account was deactivated for “fraudulent activity”, for which Uber would not provide any further elaboration. Initially, I thought it best to seek legal counsel to formalize an appeal. Through a reddit search, I discovered a company named Gigrocket mentioned in a forum that claims it can reactivate driver accounts. Although I wasn’t able to find any reviews of the company, Gigrocket does have a presence on Youtube. Viewer comments are numerous, but there are no substantiated comments that would indicate a successful reactivation.
The following is a summary of my experiences with the service. I sent roughly $70 to initiate an appeal, and was sent an email confirmation of receipt. Gigrocket claims various partnerships with legal firms, but no copies of the appeal were ever sent to validate ongoing negotiations with Uber. Roughly 3-4 weeks had gone by thereafter, without any updates as to the progression of the appeal. Since no phone numbers are provided, I reached out by email to the owner, Torsten Kunert. I was informed that Uber apparently was unwilling to reactivate my account upon appeal, and therefore the issue would progress to small claims court. I was not provided with a timeline, other than the process was likely to be long and protracted. Again, no documentation from any law firm was sent to my home indicating small claims activity. After two additional months went by, I reached out to Torsten again, and there was no response. I contacted Uber concerning the status of my account, only to find no appeal had ever been presented to them.
It’s unfortunate that there are those who will prey upon the misfortunes of others, as I’ve lost a great deal of time that otherwise could have been remedied by a reputable law firm. Please perform your due diligence by avoiding any service claiming to reactivate driver accounts.

2023.05.28 20:21 Ngineer07 potential shows incoming
I have a connect at some local venues at a city on the east coast and they let me know that fbz has a show booked for later in the year. tickets not listed yet and they're not supposed to know as it pertains some information their scheduling supervisor gave them, but keep an eye out for something.
it was news to me since they've been working solo since their last project, but tours and merch are huge money makers for artists so it could be in regards to funding some future projects

2023.05.28 20:16 Background-Fill-51 Why did Blur break up around 13 and Think Tank?
I have copy+pasted quotes that definitively will make you understand!
DAVE: "Things were starting to fall apart between the four of us. It was quite a sad process making 13. People were not turning up to the sessions, or turning up drunk, being abusive and storming off."
ALEX: Graham was always my closest friend, and although on (countless) occasions he has been impossible, I have always found him impossible to dislike.
DAMON: He is the sweetest bloke alive and he is the most gifted guitarist of his generation, No-one can fucking touch him and for that I’m prepared to put up with all his lunacy.
GRAHAM: I was thinking about that selfish and destructive effect you can have on somebody. Threatening suicide, for instance. That childish thing spurned lovers do. I used to wake up and think, Two hours 'til the pub opens, what am I going to do? I was always pissed off with myself that I wanted to drink. I was very angry with everyone. The Blur boys had to put up with me being completely insane with anger.
WILLIAM ORBIT: After Blur, they wanted to go in a different direction. It was as if Blur were experimenting with chaos. There was a battle between Damon’s more experimental direction, and Graham’s punk one, and Graham prevailed. If that tension had been growing on previous LPs, it came to a head here. Damon gave an awful lot to Graham, he was more than fair, and Graham just was not having it. He was peeing on the parade. It was like, why did Graham even come? He wasn’t being shackled. You could see Damon was upset. He’d try not to let it show, but he thought he was going to be hurt. Graham was showing his power. When Graham looked back on that period, he said Blur had to put up with him being “insane with anger”? Yeah, that sums him up. When he was drinking, he would scare people, become a bit psycho.
Graham would play the wrong notes, every time we were recording. Then, as if to say, “Just to let everybody know I can do it…” every time the tape was rewinding, he’s do it perfectly, so I kept the machine rolling. “
And you’ve got to understand, that the band were all experimenting with heavy partying. It was all done in the heat of the summer. I can remember turning up on a beautiful morning to Mayfair Studios. It was 10am, and sleeping in the doorway of the pub where he’d been drinking all night was Alex. It was so different to what I’d expected. Jamie [Hewlett] was definitely egging things on, taking them up another notch in the party zone. Believe me, everything was intense.
Damon was trying to examine what was going on. He was worried and puzzled about Graham. The relationship with Graham was the stronger dynamic than with Justine in making the record.
ORBIT 10 YEARS LATER, after working with them post-reunion:
“Oh don’t start me on Blur. Put it this way, I’m not going to work with them again – Damon was really awful. Blur could have been good. But Damon, brilliant and talented tho he is, is kinda a shit to the rest of Blur."
THE MOOD AROUND 13:
Coxon just sat in a corner, excoriated everyone he saw, and everything he heard, smoked and felt left out. The only thing he didn't do to fortify the ill-will was resume his boozy fist-fights. When he wasn't so depressed he couldn't even speak, Albarn would complain how Coxon's alcoholism had "totally wrecked our ability to get on with each other" and describe the agony and embarrassment of hearing reports of his childhood friend being found "unconscious at 4 in the morning somewhere in London."
Coxon would be less loquacious – "Damon is a self-centered fucker sometimes." All the while, Alex James was openly voicing his hatred for the art-noise rock influences running through 13. He'd also cooked up a theory as to why songs he'd written for it were kept off the album – "Punishment for Fat Les" (the enterprise he'd set up with actor Keith Allen and artist Damien Hirst).
SELLING OUT BLUR TO FUND GORILLAZ:
(Damon made a deal with EMI to finance Gorillaz on the deal that they could release a Best of Blur. Alex described the process as incredibly un-human, 100% corporate engineering, down to focus group and statistics to see what songs were most popular)
"Without being completely blatant about it, I wanted space to be able to do a lot of other things," Albarn said. "There might not have ever been a Gorillaz without (Blur's) greatest hits."
JAMIE HEWLETT, THE YOKO:
Graham lost his virginity to Justine Frischman's best friend Jane Olliver. Olliver and Coxon dated for many years. Eventually Jamie Hewlett married her and had kids with her. As they divorced, Jamie moved in with Damon, who had just split from Justine. The two became best friends and had wild parties every week, and started Gorillaz in 1998.
Albarn admits that Hewlett replaced Coxon as his best buddy – “Jamie took over from Graham in my life” – and that he was “lucky” to have got to know him when he did, just as Coxon’s drink problem took hold.
BLUR's FIRST MEETING WITH JAMIE (1990) arranged by Graham
Albarn and Hewlett enjoy an easy rapport at odds with their first meeting in 1990 when Hewlett interviewed Blur for Deadline magazine, home of the Tank Girl comic strip. As Hewlett recalls, Albarn was “arsey, a wanker”. Alex James was roaring drunk and threw up during the interview.
“Graham had arranged it because he was a big fan of my drawings,” Hewlett explains. “Then I started going out with Graham’s ex-girlfriend, so he hated me. Now all of them hate me apart from him,” he sniggers and nods at Albarn, who in turn squirms in his chair, suggesting that Hewlett’s comment is not entirely made in jest. Albarn shakes his head and refuses to be drawn on the subject.
Oddly, despite their own intitial misgivings and those of mutual acquaintances (“They told me he was a cunt,” Hewlett says, “and they told him I was a cunt”). He and Damon speak in gibberish code regarding a legal matter as Albarn ponces one of Hewlett’s cigarettes. They smoke the same brand and wear similarly baggy-arsed jeans.
2001:
Blur were originally scheduled to begin work on a new album next month, though that's been put off while the band works out the details.
"Damon's getting all World Music on us at the moment," guitarist Graham Coxon told me in full eye-rolling tone during a chat two months back.
"Bless him," Albarn said when I mentioned the comment.
Of course, and white rock musician trying his hand at reggae and hip hop is risking ridicule, and Albarn’s cause is not helped by Alex James’ description of him as “the blackest man in west London”.
“That was a bright comment, wasn’t it?” Albarn groans. “It doesn’t matter how it was meant, it was still a bit ignorant.”
Albarn notes, it also helped reassure his bandmates that Blur’s career will not be derailed by the success of Gorillaz.
“They haven’t found it particularly easy,” admits Albarn. “As I’m sure I wouldn’t have if I had been on the receiving end of someone else in the band doing something that just went bang.”
BLUR BACK IN THE STUDIO:
Graham reportedly was super skeptical towards Norman Cook, angrily saying to him You’re gonna make us pop, aren’t you? Cook later said disparaging comments about Graham in the press, and was actually the only person to publicly say that Graham was out of the band.
DAMON: “I think pop music is great at the moment obviously because I’m involved with it again. I’m right back where I was with Parklife which is where I should be and where I want to be. And I don’t have any of those hang-ups I had. I’m happy to be making music for kids. I don’t give a fuck. I know who I am now, and I want to make music that people love. It’s as simple as that.” "
Producer Bell Hillier and the band also spent time working with other producers, including the Dust Brothers (Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique, Hanson Mmbop, Beck's Midnite Vultures), whilst The Neptunes were also reported to be involved at one point.
BEN HILLIER: The start of Think Tank sessions were turmoil. Damon had had the success of Gorillaz, and there’d been back-stabbing from the others. I think Damon was feeling that Blur was a lot of hassle, and he didn’t have as much control over it as he did over Gorillaz. The battle with that record was to make it creatively worth his while to work with the other guys again. And, of course, that didn’t really work with Graham.
"There was tension to begin with. Alex had made some belittling comment about Gorillaz in the press, but there was a 'fuck you' and a 'fuck you' and it was all mates again but for the fact that Graham was missing"
I think it was all over by the time we started that record. All it needed was for Graham to turn up like Graham was, for everyone to say: “It’s not going to happen with him.” He was the great white elephant in the corner. He really wanted to leave, and they really didn’t want him in, but no-one had the nerve to say it. We were booked to start the record on a Monday. And on the Thursday, Graham checked himself into rehab for his alcoholism. I was adamant that we carry on. And that became the energy behind the record: we can do this without Graham.
Graham hadn’t left the band at that point. He came up from rehab for a couple of days, and we did “Battery In Your Leg”. It’s very easy to tell when Graham’s into something. If he’s really fucking angry, then his playing’s really fucking angry. I think he was elated with that song, because it felt like it meant he could carry on in the band. But he very quickly became destructive. It was a relief when he decided to leave, and very sad. It had a very big impact on Damon, especially, because Graham was like a member of his family.
A lot of the songs on that record are about Graham. Damon channelled his feelings into that album. “Sweet Song” was done when the legal negotiations for the split with Graham were starting, and that was pretty horrible.
GRAHAM AROUND THE SPLIT, 2002:
A rumour has been flying around that you've been sacked.
"Yes. No, I'm not out of Blur. But I'm not in Blur. I'm not lying to you. But I'm not necessarily telling you the thruth." Coxon laughs. "It's difficult. This is being negotiated now and I don't want to piss on my own shoes. Officially I'm still in the group. But maybe spiritually I haven't been for a long time... When is this published?"
October.
He ponders then proceeds, quite evenly, though with lenghty pauses to weight the fissile potential of each step.
"Well, 2001 was a funny year for me. I was in two different psychiatric hospitals in March and then November. There were problems with booze and depression - I've been sober for 10 months now. Early this year I did a week with the boys in Damon's studio. Then he went away for two months and I thought, I'll do my own album. Then in May I was back in the studio with Blur for about four days. And that was it."
What happened?
"Our manager, Chris Morrison, told me my services weren't required anymore. It was something to do with my attitude. Although I felt I was going about my work honestly, perhaps they mistook honesty for attitude. There's a total problem with honesty and communication in Blur at times."
Well, you once said, "Damon always thinks I'm in a mood with him, but I'm not. The truth is I'm suffering from deep embarrassment". Does that apply here?
"Oh yeah. I'm like that with a lot of people. Out of shyness I don't phone them and that turns into an epic of not calling them because I'm embarrassed that I haven't called them. Alcohol helped me get over that."
GRAHAM 2008:
Coxon is resolutely unembittered however, insisting that “Damon has been loyal to me, but he has other things to get on with”. He thinks Albarn’s hands-off approach amounts to “tough love”.
“I miss him. I know his friendship is still there. But the flavour of Damon is so strong it overpowers me”.
GRAHAM AFTER THE REUNION:
I was just grinning from ear to ear for days, happy to have my mates back.
2009, Damon saying that Blur is over
"I just can't do it any more," he said, adding that his main motivation had been to reconcile with guitarist Graham Coxon.
2012, Damon saying Blur is over again:
So no more Blur records? "No, I don't think so."
And will you play live again after Hyde Park?
"No, not really."
So how should I put it? That in all likelihood, this is the end of Blur?
"In all likelihood, I would say. [pause] Oh, God…"
Alex 2015:
Have you ever quizzed Damon on the meaning of the lyrics?
“To be honest, I just assume they’re about Graham unless I’m specifically told otherwise!”
Graham, 2015:
It’s still pretty good fun being in Blur. We’re weird people, really, I suppose. There’s a lot of laughter. There are flashes of anger and insults - and Damon is not shy in showing his response to [songs]. But it’s all in really good humour, that’s the thing. We’re very much like dogs, really. We’re like very different types of dogs”
