I'd love to have something with depth to respond to. tell me something you think about but you know/feel like other people don't :) I just got back from Canada for the first time ever outside of the country, so I'm feeling a bit.. depleted and want to vibe with people!
I'm a very laid-back person, I'm the type of person that gets excited over canceled plans, the type of person who is likely to sit back and observe a room before making any conversation. I get excited over seeing my bed even after an hour of being away from it. when I say I'm laid back, I mean that I'm simple. you can send me a picture of a turd and say, "this reminded me of you" and I'd probably tear up but can you not because I love that "I thought about you" stuff.
my cat is my world, he is my baby. I adore him, even if he has half a brain cell and the wheel is spinnin' but the hamster is dead upstairs. with that being said, send me pictures of your babies. whatever they may be. send me pictures of what makes you happy. was it the sunset? i love when the skies look like cotton candy. was it the flower that finally bloomed? show me, and then tell me the story behind it. send me a selfie so I can hype you up, but platonically (gotta keep the vibes)
I have a tendency to not respond for a bit, which usually means my social battery is depleted and I'm recharging. it isn't personal, and it definitely isn't forever. I will be back! like a well-fed tom cat. 🐈 I just need to relax and vibe for a minute. don't add me just to remove me when this happens, it's so frustrating and hurtful.

I’ll start by saying I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but am going to the doctor soon to figure it out. I highly suspect I have GERD and have been struggling with reflux for awhile now. This past day and half has been BAD. A lot of nausea and I can’t really eat.
Here in lies the problem. I’ve googled what foods cause GERD and what foods are suggested to help/avoid GERD triggers and well, I would be left basically just not eating anything besides an English Muffin with peanut butter for every meal of my life.
Do people have some realistic suggestions on what can be eaten here? My diet is mostly pasta, tomato based product, pizza, cheeseburgers, cheese, ceaser salad (croutons), grilled cheese, etc. basically I eat like a child. I hate it, but it is what it is.
Foods that Google recommends like rice, bananas, oatmeal, watermelon, celery, sweet potatoes, soup… yeah, I don’t like any of those. Tried them, can’t eat them. They taste bad and make me sick anyways.
Obviously I should see a gastroenterologist but any help in the meantime is appreciated.

So I’m still getting used to the fact that I have diabetes and eating as well as everything else and since I started keeping track of my blood sugar once a day in the morning it’s been an average of 146 with my highest being 178 and lowest 120. Am I doing ok or could I do better? I have an appointment with a dietician in a couple weeks to help me but I really want to use any resources possible to try to help me get to a normal level as soon as possible. I’ve almost completely quit candy and junk food and mostly just eat quest protein bars or Lilly’s dark chocolate when I have a craving, but I do still eat a lot of fruit too. Quitting rice is really hard because we eat it a lot and bought a big bag from Costco not too long before my diagnosis. Desserts have been surprisingly easy in comparison once I realized they were what was making me feel so sick and tired all the time.

I had to put down Sticky (cat 18 years old) because her health has deteriorated and I waited too long selfishly. That was 4 days ago. Now that she is gone. I’m so heart broken I am walking in a daze. I am lucky I am on summer break (I am a teacher in USA) because I don’t think I could handle going to work. I have barely eaten since she passed. Yesterday I ate a Jersey Mike’s mini and that’s all I ate that day, and only because my best friend sat with me and waited until I finished the sandwich. Today I still haven’t eaten and my spouse is getting worried. But I’m just nauseated when I eat. I keep thinking of her and bursting into tears. She was my closest friend for 18 years. I got her when she was so little I had to bottle feed her (I was young, stupid and didn’t know not to take her from her mom so young). And now she’s… gone. I keep looking for her. I knew time was coming and I kept delaying. She seemed fine but when we took her for her end of life care appointment she only weighed 4.5 pounds. I was so mad at myself. The doctor said I did better than her, her oldest cat made it to 17 and my baby’s birthday was March 1. That did not make me feel better. I should be ok. Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by loved ones (myself, my sister who raised her with me her first 8 years of life and my spouse who taught me how to care for her properly and loved her dearly for the other 10 years). I need to eat but everything tastes disgusting. And when I try to eat I just end of up thinking of her cause I can’t eat and then I cry again. I don’t know how long it will be before I focus on the happy memories. But right now, I’m not ok.

Neutered 7-8 year old cat. 14 lbs. Houston Texas area.
One of our cats, Mr. Hieronymus Bosch, is approximately 7-8 years old (he showed up in my driveway in August of 2017) and has a recurring medical issue that seems to be getting worse.
In 2021 he started not being able to jump up on things. He was eating, drinking, using the catbox. They checked him out, full exam and x-rays, and they said that there was nothing wrong that they could see. They said maybe a strain or sprain. I restricted his movement and it eventually got better.
About two months ago he started having issues with jumping again. I waited it out and restricted movement. It has gotten worse, not better, in the last four weeks. Now he is barely able to walk and is staying in his bed most of the day. He is having difficulty getting in and out of the catbox.
I took him back in Thursday and they checked again. X-rays, full exam, the works. They did a urinalysis and bloodwork. All clear.
The only thing the vet found was some arthritis but nothing significant. No issues in the spine, legs, hips, etc. Just significant muscle atrophy in his back legs for seemingly no reason.
Complicating things is the fact that though I can do anything at all with him, he requires sedation at the vet because he is an absolute demon there.
They gave him an injection of Solensia today and recommend that monthly. But his need for sedation really makes this difficult. (I am also not a millionaire and this will end up being $200 a month with sedation and the injection.)
I just wondered if any of you had thoughts on the situation. I trust my vet and drive an hour each way to see her but I am frustrated and concerned.

Hi, I'm hoping someone has some advice or is/has gone through the same situation.
I found a little kitten without a mom over a month ago and took her in. I live with my boyfriend who has been just as involved as I have caring for her, he loves her just as much as I do and has been a great cat dad.
The issue is, I've read that you shouldn't play rough or use your fingers to play with cats, so I've been trying to implement this. My boyfriend really likes playing with her with his hands, and even though I constantly remind him not to, he keeps doing it.
Today, he got really upset and took it the wrong way when I told him she doesn't want to be pet right now (he kept trying to pet her head and she kept biting him in response, and he kept letting her bite him and play rough). He took it really personally, and we got into a huge fight over it.
He says I'm making him feel like not even touching her because of this
Should I just let him play with her however he wants and leave it be? I'd appreciate any advice
