2023.06.04 23:30 khoafraelich789 Driven: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Proves Mid-Size Trucks Don’t Have To Suck
![]() | submitted by khoafraelich789 to CarInformationNews [link] [comments] https://preview.redd.it/nnacw9ecny2b1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=09591c58da67e45c700456841de4978e9c700d84 The redesigned Colorado combines a good ride with a nicer interior as well as an all-new turbo engine Trucks are as American as apple pie, but most of the attention has been focused on the full-size segment. It’s been that way for decades, but smaller trucks have finally stepped into the spotlight. The Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz revived the long dormant compact segment, while 2023 is shaping up to be the year of the mid-size truck thanks to new entries from Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, and Toyota. That’s a ton of new blood and we haven’t even mentioned the Jeep Gladiator and Nissan Frontier, which are still relatively fresh. We’re kicking the year off with the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, which features a fantastic new design, an upgraded interior, and an all-new turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. However, the biggest news might be value as the truck starts at $29,200 and you can get one with four-wheel drive, adaptive cruise control, a bed liner, and a ton of safety features for under $37,000. A Sporty And Stylish Design While there’s a lot going on, there’s no better place to start than styling because designers knocked it out of the park. The model has “big truck energy” and sports an all-new design that echoes the Silverado. However, this is no scaled down copy as the Colorado has a more youthful and athletic appearance, which combines sharp lines with subtle curves. The resulting design is great and the Colorado is arguably better looking than its larger counterpart. That’s high praise and each trim has a slightly different aesthetic. The entry-level WT is the most basic of the bunch as it sports black components and 17-inch steel wheels. This look is shared with the all-new Colorado Trail Boss, which builds on the WT but adopts a 2-inch (51 mm) lift, a wider front track, and 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 32-inch all-terrain tires. The Colorado LT is more traditional as it wears body-color components and 17-inch aluminum wheels, while the Z71 combines creature comforts with moderate amounts of off-road capability. The news isn’t all good as the Colorado is offered exclusively in a crew cab configuration with a 5’ 2” bed. This is a bit of a disappointment as the outgoing model offered extended and crew cab configurations as well as a larger 6’2” bed. That being said, the redesigned Colorado has a few tricks up its sleeve and one of the most interesting ideas is a lockable, watertight compartment that is integrated into the tailgate. With the tailgate down, you push two levers aside to gain access to a compartment that measures 45 inches (1,143 mm) wide and 4 inches (102 mm) deep. It can be a bit tricky to open, but there’s a decent amount of space and owners could easily stash tow straps and other off-road equipment there. While the compartment is a little gimmicky, it’s hard to argue with eight standard tie-downs, integrated motorcycle tire grooves, and an available 110-volt power outlet in the bed. The tailgate can also be positioned midway down to aid in transporting longer items, while a dampened EZ-lift and lower tailgate is also available. An Interior That Doesn’t Scream Cheap Mid-size trucks are far more affordable than their larger counterparts and this cut-rate pricing is often reflected in the interior. However, the Colorado bucks this trend as drivers will find a significantly improved cabin with better equipment. The changes are immediately apparent as driver sit behind a chunky steering wheel and find themselves looking at an all-new 8-inch digital instrument cluster. It comes standard and features an assortment of informative displays including an off-road focused setup, which shows pitch and roll as well as the steering angle and current transfer case setting. Speaking of screens, there’s an 11.3-inch infotainment system with Google integration as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It’s a massive improvement over the old 7- and 8-inch displays, and the system is fast, responsive, and largely intuitive. That being said, we did experience a few hiccups including an instance where music was blasting at startup and the system initially refused to respond to attempts to lower the volume or mute. Putting the screens aside, the cabin sports a modern design with classy switchgear, gloss black trim, and metallic accents. The amenities vary by trim and things are pretty basic in the WT and Trail Boss. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the models eschew a lot of the bright work, padding, and details that make higher-end variants look and feel special. It’s also worth mentioning that, regardless of which trim you get, black plastic is abound and it’s of the hard variety. Despite being a rough and tumble pickup, the Colorado can dust off its cowboy boots for a night on the town. In particular, the model can be equipped with two-tone heated and ventilated leather front seats as well as a heated steering wheel. While it’s not as fancy as the upcoming GMC Canyon Denali, it’s pretty darn nice for a mid-size truck. Speaking of the seats, the front chairs are perfectly comfortable and spacious while also offering a good amount of support. Furthermore, the entry-level WT doesn’t cheapen out too much, although a front center console is an optional extra. The rear seats are less impressive as they’re not terribly spacious. While there’s a good amount of headroom, legroom is limited as occupants will find a mere 34.7 inches (881 mm) of space and that’s 1.1 inches (28 mm) less than last year’s crew cab pickup. The experience reminded me of the compact Maverick and Santa Cruz, which actually have more rear seat legroom on paper. That being said, the seats seem to be competitive for the segment, although not as generous as those found in the Gladiator. A Turbo Four With V8 Levels Of Torque The streamlining continues under the hood as the Colorado’s engine lineup shrinks from three to one. As a result, every single model is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder. The engine has been powering the Silverado for years and it’s available in three different outputs. The entry-level variant produces 237 hp (177 kW / 240 PS) and 259 lb-ft (351 Nm) of torque, which is a sizable improvement over the old 2.5-liter four-cylinder that developed 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 191 lb-ft (258 Nm). The entry-level engine comes standard in the WT and LT, and offers respectable performance. There’s plenty of power for cruising around town, although we wished for a little extra oomph when it came to merging onto the highway. The mid-level engine comes standard in the Trail Boss and Z71, where it produces 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a high-output version that develops 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 430 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque. The latter figure is insane as the engine has more torque than the 5.0-liter V8 in the Ford F-150. It also bests the Silverado’s 5.3-liter V8 by 47 lb-ft (64 Nm), despite having half the number of cylinders. The high-output engine comes standard in the range-topping Colorado ZR2, but Trail Boss and Z71 customers can order a high-output calibration for an additional $395. That seems pretty reasonable as it delivers an extra 40 lb-ft (54 Nm) of torque, which will be appreciated if you tow on a regular basis. While the base engine is fine, the upgraded versions transform the truck from good to great. As you’d expect, responsiveness improves significantly and there’s plenty of power throughout the band. Chevrolet hasn’t released detailed performance specifications, but officials we spoke to said all three versions of the engine enable the truck to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than seven seconds. Speaking of the engine, it seems relatively refined and engineers told us it was “designed like a diesel.” As a result, it sports a rigid cylinder block casting, a fully forged bottom end, and a stiff crankshaft – among other things. While that’s just scratching the surface, the engine has been subjected to countless torture tests and was designed to withstand years of heavy use. The engine is connected to a capable eight-speed automatic transmission, which worked well on- and off-road as shifts were perfectly timed and well executed. Rear-wheel drive comes standard on the WT and LT, but the rest of the lineup has four-wheel drive. EPA ratings haven’t been released, but the Colorado has an engine start/stop system and active fuel management technology. As a result, we can expect the truck to surpass the Silverado’s rating of 19 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined. It’s also worth mentioning that all of the engines run on regular gasoline, even the high-output variant. A Capable Truck That Doesn’t Ride Rough One of the most surprising things about the 2023 Colorado is how well it drives. Body-on-frame trucks aren’t typically known for their refinement, but Chevy’s entry exceeded our expectations. While the ride can get a little bumpy on rough roads, it’s not uncomfortable and can best be described as truck-like. However, those incidents were few and far between as things settle down significantly on smooth roads and the Colorado proved to be a comfortable highway cruiser, despite having a solid rear axle and leaf springs. The good news doesn’t end there as handling is good for a body-on-frame pickup. Cornering was secure and predictable without any hints of drama until the truck was pushed hard. The experience can also be somewhat entertaining on the right road, although you’ll want to keep your expectations in check. Given this is a truck, it’s not surprising to learn the steering is a little heavy and slow. We didn’t have any problems with the heft, but we wish the truck offered a sport mode with a more direct response as traversing twisty mountain roads required an almost comical amount of turning. Speaking of driving modes, the Colorado offers Normal, Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja settings. Terrain mode might be the most notable as it was designed for low-speed rock crawling and it enables you to travel at a leisurely pace with subtle throttle responses. The truck also offers a cool off-road performance display as well as up to 10 different camera views including underneath the truck. Speaking of off-road goodies, the Z71 and Trail Boss come standard with a limited-slip differential and hill descent control. The Trail Boss is also notable for featuring the aforementioned lift and wider stance. Back on pavement, wind noise can be pronounced at highway speed, but otherwise the truck is fairly quiet. The model also sports an impressive amount of standard safety equipment including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high-beams. Customers looking for more safety tech will find an assortment of affordable packages that offer Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Park Assist, and Rear-Cross Traffic Braking. They’re joined by Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Pedestrian Alert, and an HD Surround Vision system. Colorado owners like to tow and most versions of the truck have a maximum towing capacity of 7,700 lbs (3,493 kg). This bests the Frontier, Ranger, and Tacoma while also matching the mightiest Gladiator. Sticking with towing, customers can get a package that adds a receiver as well as an automatic locking rear differential, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a trailering app on the infotainment system. We’d also be remiss to mention the truck has a maximum payload capacity of up to 1,684 lbs (764 kg). Mid-Size No Longer Means Half As Good Mid-size trucks have often felt like half-hearted efforts, but that’s clearly not the case with the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. Designers and engineers poured blood, sweat, and tears into the model and the end result is truly impressive as it looks great, drives well, and features an impressive new engine. On top of that, the Colorado boasts a significantly improved interior, more upscale equipment, and a new Trail Boss trim that should appeal to off-roaders on a budget. Speaking of which, Chevy managed to keep pricing affordable and this means you can get a nice truck for around $42,000. While there are a few tradeoffs, the Colorado is a solid pickup and the one to beat. Of course, there’s no shortage of challengers on the horizon and we’ll learn more about them in the coming months. 2023.06.03 21:02 FraternityOf_Tech Zappi EV Charging Car from off peak grid and not the battery??
![]() | Does anyone know how to charge an EV from the grid and not use the battery and as its the evening solar isn't available. submitted by FraternityOf_Tech to SolarUK [link] [comments] I have and ford kuga PHEV and a zappi myenergy EV charger. Now the battery is at 93% capacity currently. The battery and solar ate currently charging the house however as the question suggests I would like to know if this is possible. I'm assuming I put the EV on fast charging which uses the grid if needed as Eco and Eco++ try not to use the grid therfore would use the battery. However I just want to use the grid for the EV charging. Currently the inverter is set to off on charging from the grid as I disabled the option via the inverter app. my worries are it will take from the battery only and as I've turn off grid will potentially drain it leaving me with little energy to run the house until morning which I'm trying to avoid. I could charge from the battery and the at 12:30 take from the grid to charge the battery. As its only 9.5p pkwh I'm not to fussed however I just want to know that way I'm only pulling 3.7kw for the car and not 7.2 for car and battery Anyone have the issue or suggestionss? |

2023.06.03 05:18 ndlacajunwiseguy 2020 (goldilocks) ridgeline with modifications
![]() | Wanted to post the 2020 ridgeline (goldilocks...I like the old style, but has the new transmission) version that I bought new before all the pandemic weirdness submitted by ndlacajunwiseguy to hondaridgeline [link] [comments] https://preview.redd.it/qixi4kqf1q3b1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7cba60d921b75a67aebefa6198f2d7135dd6d5f https://preview.redd.it/rrlqrnqf1q3b1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3cbff889786fd604a0f2bd2e5556053ec1bcb58d https://preview.redd.it/gd8y6dqf1q3b1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8486f9efce244f1051933781e8351ad239a2e3b Modifications 1: 2 inch traxda lift. This is really the sweet spot, going over really runs up the price and 2 inches puts it on par with the taco/rangecolorado that run next to you 2: firestone destination at2 265/60-18 . No rub on full lock forward/reverse. Reason for getting was white lettering and the reviews were very positive on highway manners and wet performance. Wet performance is big for me since I am driving in the wet a good majority of the time. 2A: Tires plus lift is roughly 2 1/2 inches up. Wife: why did you make it so high? its hard to get into! me: muahahah 3: under body protection of mostly no low design front skid, front diff and catalytic protection (mostly to slow down/prevent someone going after my cat...its a thing in my area) 3a: front skid plate NEEDS replacement m6 bolts on the front that are automotive grade class 10.9. The stock bolts are meant to hold a tin shield and they will loosen and cause a bunch of creaking/groaning. If you attempt to tighten..they just break. 4: fog lights are diode dynamics SLF white, the 780 lumens is a great match and does not over power the main headlights. They are actually very useful in our dark and rainy nights here in Louisiana! 5: Brush guard, I think this was CarID...but not even sure you can buy anymore. It was roughly $350 at the time. Downside is the top tabs running under the hood...I had to take a stainless pad to them and really scour them and put on real black paint that could stand up to the rain. The stock coating rusted very quickly. 6: AEM drop in air filter. Clean/wash it every 3 months...works great. 7: CarID for the dash cover, I keep my vehicles for a long time and most end up with cracked dashes so wanted to prevent that on this ridgeline. Plus I could geek out and put my gamer handle embroided on it...kids/wife roll eyes... me dont care. 8: Steering wheel cover off amazon for $20, keeps the steering wheel in great shape and the aftermarket is really decent. 9: Full size spare on the back. This takes some amazon...you need a m8 140 to 160mm in length. I got the 160mm in length from England and its just a tad too long. I used rubber spacers on the stock insert. The stock tire holder requires a new hole, I screwed in my bolt...put some paint on the top and put the tire on with the stock holder. It showed me where the bolt hit the stock holder and voila...drilled my hole there. Its pretty much right on the edge..like 2mm off the edge if you need to guess. I put the bolt in and put a rubber spacer (again 160mm is a tad long, 150mm would be perfect) and just used a ratchet to screw it in. Is the view out of the back window great? No, but it beats the tire just lying in the back. I would love the tire to be side mounted on the bed behind the driver...but I don't know how to fabri-coble such a beast. 10: threw the engine cover away...I like to hear the engine. 11: Yes....I put a honda Trailsport badge on it. Its the version of the 2020 ridgeline that is really trail rated, but never made. haha...true unicorn 12: Put ceramic tint on the front windows. Its a bit less then the stock rear so nobody questions it and its a good look imho. I had it done professionally and it looks stock and has held up for 3 years with zero problems...and it really does block out the UV. They were also the same shop that installed the traxda lift, it was unique for them since they do a LOT of custom lifts...but never a ridgeline. What I like: 1:Payload is great, I've really pushed it a few times with 1700lbs...but it handled it like a champ every time. 2:Towing is fine, small trailer for my daughters band, a few boats, etc. I do need to install a brake controller on the off chance it hits 4k lbs or more. 3:Ride is great...way better than most every truck I've driven 4:Handling is vastly better in the corners, I can really whip this thing into a tight turn and not end up plowing or bouncing like mad....this is NOT something you want to do on a taco/rangecolorado. 5:More height on the sidewalls makes a real difference in handling pot holes...ride is not as jarring. We don't have great roads here in Louisiana. 6:I use the in bed speakers waaay more than I ever thought I would. 7:Love the transmission 8:making people regret not getting a ridgeline after they borrow my truck for the weekend 9: its pretty damn unique in town, I mean ridgeline is already pretty much "wheres waldo?" in a sea of ford/chevy/dodge/toyota...but this puts it into the unicorn status 10: oh yeah..cabin space is awesome! 11: trunk really keeps the cabin clean...just toss it in the trunk! What you need to accept: 1: acceleration takes a hit with more weight and bigger tires 2: gas mileage goes down. stock height/tires it was easy to get 25-29mpg, now its around 21. I drive like a monkey in town...17 3: Head unit is slooow. It doesn't crash/freeze...but it is slow. Basically android auto is your friend. 4: getting it aligned takes more than your usual shop. They have to work with lifted trucks...your normal shop has no clue on how to get this aligned. I took it to 2 shops, multiple times..fails. I then looked around for an alignment shop that knew wtf to do with modified trucks and it finally was done right. 5: eco mode in town is death...it takes so much off the acceleration that to turn into traffic is: ok..barely going..push more pedal...hmm still not moving...more pedal...damn they are right there! mash it to the floor! Sum up: I am totally that crescent wrench guy....I don't do anything that well, but can toss myself into most situations and make it work. This is my perfect truck in that it can do pretty much anything I ask it and my daughters are learning to drive on this as it has most of the modern safety features. |

2023.06.03 03:22 tyleryoungblood Freightliner, Mack, or F750 for chip truck (tree service)?
![]() | I’m about to invest in a chip truck for my tree company. I currently have a bucket truck with a chip box (forestry body) and an F350 for pulling my dump trailer. I would like to replace my F350 with a chip truck to add to my towing capacity as well as my chip hauling capabilities. My dump trailer is a bumper pull (not a goose neck). Several companies sell these trucks and offer multiple choices for the cab and chassis such as Mack, Freightligner, and F750 for all about the same price point of $115k. See photo. My question is are there any good reasons to go with one truck over another? For example, I’ve heard that in the past people have had trouble with F750s when they’ve taken them in for issues and been given the run around (eg. Ford telling them it’s a Cummins problem, Cummins telling them it’s a Ford problem). I have a CDL so I’m not too worried about 26k vs 33k. But I would like to have air brakes and 4x4. It’s sandy here and easy to get stuck even in dry yards. It’ll be a work truck obviously so it doesn’t need to be plush, but I would like AC. My current truck is a stick and it’s wearing out my knee, so an automatic is also important to me. Personally I find Fords more comfortable than freightliners, and I hate the school bus feel to the freightliner steering wheel (but maybe there’s an option to change it?). I’ve never driven a Mack or a Heno. The only other consideration that could seriously sway me is MPG differences. I currently have an 8.1 gas bucket truck that gets 4mpg. It replaced my diesel bucket truck that got 6+mpg. That 50% improvement alone is with paying extra for a diesel truck and I’ll never buy another gas bucket truck. But are there appreciable MPG differences between the diesel engines in a Mack, Freightliner, or F750? Are there rear end options to consider to maximize fuel economy without obliterating towing capabilities? What about lifespan? Can you realistically get 500k miles out of a Ford like you can out of a Mack, Freightliner, or Heno? I’m sure there are other things I haven’t even thought to consider. But basically lowest total cost of ownership and reliability will be more important to me than looks or brand name. Downtime is a killer for me since I have a very small fleet. If a single truck goes down it can really hamper my small business. Thanks in advance for your advice! submitted by tyleryoungblood to MediumDutyTrucks [link] [comments] |

We are committed to continuing the Battlefield 2042 journey and are working through the best ways to bring new content and experiences for you all. Expect to hear more from us on what’s planned later in Season 5. Quality of Life ImprovementsVault Weapon Attachments & Universal Cosmeticshttps://i.redd.it/1j3epbg5rl3b1.gif We will be adapting Vault Weapons for use with All-Out Warfare attachments during Season 5. To start, we’ll focus on Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles with attachments for the M16A3, A-91, M416, MTAR-21, AEK-971 and the GOL Sniper Magnum. We’ll continue to provide attachment support for Vault Weapons in subsequent updates. https://i.redd.it/rz04rst7rl3b1.gif With Season 5, we will also be introducing Universal Cosmetics for all Vault Weapons, from Forest Multi-terrain (Unlocked at Rank 0) to Desert Technical (Unlocked at Rank 19) and more. You’ll now be able to decide not only the attachments and versatility of your Vault Weapons, but the look of them too. We’ll also be extending Universal Cosmetic support to Battlefield Portal! Tune in to our Inside Battlefield Podcast, or read our latest Dev Notes blog for full details. Reworking Vehicle LoadoutsWe’re restructuring vehicle loadouts to ensure their combat roles are clearly defined and to reduce prevalence of explosive weaponry. This will also add further readability on the battlefield to ensure you know what to expect from vehicles when you encounter them. The restructuring of loadouts primarily focuses on our ground vehicles, and we’ll both remove and add weapons to each available vehicle loadout. For example, explosives will no longer be an option for all vehicles, and overall you’ll find more choice through a larger selection of weapons available to you. Let’s use the LATV4 Recon as an example of what that looks like. The LATV4 Recon is one of the most used vehicles in the game, and having explosive weaponry readily available pushed it outside of its intended role as a transport. We’re removing all its explosives, such as the 30mm, 50mm and Grenade Launcher, and will replace them with anti-infantry weaponry instead. https://i.redd.it/j184rmacrl3b1.gif Tune in to our Inside Battlefield Podcast, or read our latest Dev Notes blog for full details. Specialist ImprovementsDozer and Irish will receive improvements to ensure they provide similar gameplay experiences as others within their class.Dozer For Dozer we will be enhancing his movement and animations when using the SOB-8 Ballistic Shield. You will now be able to strafe, rotate and pitch with your shield more quickly than previously, as well as being able to traverse ziplines with your shield equipped! Lastly, we’ll also be including two new XP Events to reward further acts of teamplay when playing with Dozer. https://i.redd.it/yazxm1wfrl3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/lr57zuklrl3b1.gif On the receiving end when firing at his shield, we will be increasing its spread and introducing more bullet trajectory upon hitting his shield. This will ensure that during these encounters you still have a fighting chance, and at the very least, won’t be as impacted by your own bullets as before. https://i.redd.it/2n9xpwaxrl3b1.gif Irish Irish will receive a balancing pass to the capabilities of his APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel. We’re doing that by having it cycle through new intercept and recharge states alongside an added short cooldown, versus its previous always-on state. https://i.redd.it/ohe3pnp3sl3b1.gif https://i.redd.it/5bjv1dy5sl3b1.gif We’ve also improved its audio, alongside adding new colors to help you identify which state the APS-36 is currently in. Tune in to our Inside Battlefield Podcast, or read our latest Dev Notes blog for full details. Squad Management ImprovementsAlongside the Season update we’re also adding improvements to the current Squad functionality. https://preview.redd.it/jnt24yt9sl3b1.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0fb247cecc0cb470fb9894a30fc3b822fe7e678 Squads and Players The Squad Menu is now separated to give you a full overview of all squads on your team. In this menu you can make someone else the leader, and see how many players or friends are in a squad. It also shows class icons so you know how to best complement a squad before joining it. And to add some personal flavor, leaders can also show off their Player Card Tag as the squad icon. We also worked with the narrative team to come up with code names for each squad for that additional personal touch. One of our personal favorites is Gravedigger -- surely the Gravediggers know how to PTFO. We definitely don’t mess with that squad! Create and Join At any time you’ll be able to create or join a new squad directly via the Squad Menu. Previously you could only switch to a random squad, and only from the deploy screen. If you create a new squad then we’ve also added a short waiting period before other players can matchmake into your squad to ensure you can play together with your friends. Easy navigation The Squad Menu was created to make it easier and faster to manage and navigate through squads on your team. While before it was unclear when and how to change squads, you’ll now be able to do that at any time and with only a few clicks. We hope that with this new improved Squad Management experience you feel that you have the control over who you’d like to play with during a match. Once this is in your hands, please stay in touch and give us your feedback about how you feel about it! Later during Season 5 we’ll also add Squad Orders functionality which allows you to work together as a squad to receive increased XP rewards. In short, PTFO - and get rewarded! Tune in to our Inside Battlefield Podcast, or read our latest Dev Notes blog for full details. Other Areas of ImprovementDamage Unit FunctionalityAs part of Season 5, you will now be able to decide if you wish to show damage units at the bottom of your screen, at the side of your crosshair, or not at all. This new functionality can be defined to your liking via Options > Display > HUD General > Damage Numbers. Accuracy & Dispersion Changes Since Launch, our Level Design team has been reworking our maps to react to feedback on cover opportunities, and traversal improvements. These changes have also resulted in alterations to combat distances, and our weapons were tuned for these previous distances and combat scenarios in mind. Over time, this has resulted in feedback from you about several weapons being too accurate at long ranges without penalty. With Season 5, we aim to address this gap with balancing the accuracy and dispersion of several categories of weapons. Assault Rifles from All-Out Warfare and their Vault Weapon counterparts will be the first to receive this treatment. You will notice that the maximum dispersion has been increased by an average of 15-20%, and the weapons will now reach that maximum dispersion level when they reach half of the magazine while on full auto, and full spray mode! This should encourage everyone to do smaller bursts instead of prolonged fire towards a moving target, and in consideration with the map rework should increase survivability at longer ranges to encourage further up close and personal combat. We will be assessing your feedback to this change over time and continue to make necessary changes in future updates. New Unlock Requirements for Lis, Crawford, Zain and Blasco Lis, Crawford, Zain and Blasco will now be available as rewards as you gradually gain Player Levels through earning XP. Their previous unlock requirements are no longer available. Go get ‘em! Camera Sprint Movement We have made adjustments to the Camera Movement when sprinting in Battlefield 2042. This change is meant to add physicality to sprinting by introducing more immersive camera movement dependent upon the type of weapon and sprint type that you may be using at that time. You will notice a different amount when using an Assault Rifle compared to an RPG for example. We hope you enjoy this new sense of weight and body motion through the camera. For accessibility you may turn off the new motion in the accessibility options. On top of that, there are also some golden rules to camera motion in FPS games that ensure your understanding of where you are in space, aligned with what the camera tells you, and we have taken the opportunity to improve that further by focusing on rotations rather than translations in space. We look forward to hearing your thoughts! Aim Down Sight Field of View is now active for all players. Normally a scope will adjust your field of view. With this option set to “On”, the field of view will instead be taken from the field of view you chose in general, in your display settings. Some weapons will not be affected if they have specifically been designed to have a certain field of view that should not be changed. Why is this important? The amount of input it takes for your aim to move across screen space changes when field of view changes. Uniform Soldier Aiming calculates your aim rate to take the same amount of pixel distance on screen for a given physical movement of the mouse. In 4.2 we set Uniform Soldier Aiming to On by default (see our Dev Note for further detail). Setting ADS field of view to On, ensures the consistency achieved by Uniform Soldier Aiming remains the same across various scopes since your field of view will not change when zooming. Like Uniform Soldier Aiming, this will help to build muscle memory, which is essential to aiming in first person shooters. ____________________________________________________ ChangelogGeneral Fixes and Options
All Recon Specialists will now be able to use the Concussion Grenade. We have also made substantial changes to how the Concussion Grenade works in a couple of areas, based on distance to the player and in comparing the direction of the player upon grenade detonation. The effects of the Concussion Grenade are defined by Near, Far and Frontal scenarios. When it detonates within close range it will heighten the duration and intensity at the point of detonation. Beyond that near range, it will lead to a lessened duration and intensity. This effect is also decided and impacted by if the detonation takes place in front of the player.
Through telemetry and community sentiment, since moving the Prox Sensor out of the throwable slot and into the Gadget Selection field we have seen this gadget decline in relevance compared to the TUGs and other viable gadgets. We have made some adjustments to allow for the Prox Sensor to be an equally viable choice as part of your loadout.

2023.06.02 11:18 grumpy-techie Russian Ambassador to DPRK Interviewed by Ria-Novosti
![]() | Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexandr Matsegora had an interview with the Ria-Novosti of Russia on May 24. submitted by grumpy-techie to ZhdanovDoctrine [link] [comments] https://preview.redd.it/ic28nb9znk3b1.png?width=1020&format=png&auto=webp&s=baeb6d2758f4a2cafa01f8899c17da2d6440bc13 The ambassador referred to Russia's stand on the emergency anti-epidemic measures and steps for bolstering up the defence capabilities taken by the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the DPRK government, the present situation of the Korean Peninsula, the north-south relations and other issues. On the present COVID-19-related situation in the DPRK and follow-up measures, he said: No COVID-19 case is registered in the DPRK at present. The outbreak of Omicron sub-variant in May to August last year was successfully overcome thanks to the great efforts made by the state, which is not an exaggeration. Military medics played a significant role. The victory in economy was achieved at a high price and the population did not suffer much damage. Noting that the DPRK took a step for complete isolation from the outside world at the end of January 2020 to prevent the inroads of highly dangerous sub-variants in the early period of the pandemic outbreak and has enforced the strictest emergency anti-epidemic measures, he further said: At present, lots of restrictions have been lifted. Schools and universities resumed their lessons, mass cultural and sports events are taking place and parks, museums and libraries were opened. Anyhow, the regulations on disinfection and body temperature measurement and a mask-wearing system are still maintained in all public places. Referring to the fact that the DPRK has not yet lifted some restrictions, though many countries resumed contacts at a considerable level after the COVID-19 pandemic, the ambassador said: The DPRK does not regard the complicated epidemic situation of the world only as a result of COVID-19. It defines the "global health crisis" as a broader concept. In this context of crisis, the country is keeping an eye on the outbreak of such new infectious diseases as monkeypox in other countries. In addition, experts in the DPRK differ from their foreign counterparts in the belief that future corona sub-variants will be less dangerous than the previous sub-variants. On the contrary, they do not exclude the possibility of sudden outbreak of any fatal corona sub-variant. That's why the DPRK is not hurrying to open the border, but gives priority to protecting its population from new diseases of high risk. Saying that unlike many countries, the DPRK is not hesitant in attributing all the global difficulties to the U.S. which seeks to maintain the unipolar world order and completely contain Russia and other countries going against it, the ambassador continued: The DPRK does not tolerate any arbitrary practice of the U.S., pursuing a very independent foreign policy. The friends in the DPRK are demonstrating solidarity with Russia in the international fields and treasuring it. We are very grateful for this. On the other hand, we understand and support Pyongyang's stand on the situation of the Korean Peninsula. The situation of the Korean Peninsula has been recently aggravated due to Washington's hostile policy. The U.S. is deploying strategic attack weapons in the southern half of the peninsula while continuing to conduct military drills together with south Korea. The purpose of such military moves is clear. It is to overthrow the leadership of the DPRK, occupy its territory and abolish its political system. That was why the DPRK had to take measures for self-defence, strengthen its defence potentials and make full preparations to cope with the dangerous enemy's aggression. On the fact that the DPRK has stepped up its missile launches, including the test-fire of new-type ICBM in mid-April, the ambassador said: Pyongyang has developed new ballistic missiles and conducted their tests one after another, because the U.S. is pursuing a hostile policy towards the DPRK. Had there been no ever-increasing military, political and economic pressure, challenge and interference in its internal affairs, and had there been no direct threat to overthrow the socio-economic system of the country, there would have been no reason for the leadership of the DPRK to map out and implement the large-scale missile and nuclear program. The Koreans are not thinking of attacking the U.S., Japan and south Korea to occupy them and change their political systems. They only want them to be in peace. However, they don't tolerate anything that offends them. That is why it is Washington's hostile line invariably pursued for decades that arouses major anxiety and concern. Washington is trying to carry out its geopolitical tasks by escalating tension in different parts of the world. It should be acknowledged that the munitions industry of the DPRK has achieved remarkable successes in the recent decade. In fact, all series of ballistic and cruise missiles were developed and dozens of test-fires conducted. However, the test-fires did not pose any threat to the Far East region of Russia. The DPRK side repeatedly made clear that it is strictly abiding by such principle. There is no reason that we cannot trust them. Noting that the DPRK has made strides in the development of missile program and the strengthening of military force, the ambassador said: Leader Kim Jong Un mentioned some aspects of the nuclear weapons program in the course of various events. Such aspects were also made public through media reports on his visit to munitions industrial establishments. It was reported that nuclear and thermal nuclear warheads to be loaded on medium-range and inter-continental ballistic missiles had already been developed and tested and commissioned for the armed forces. The photos of these weapons were carried in newspapers, too. Their quantity is unknown and there exists only speculation. At the 8th WPK Congress in January 2021, General Secretary of the WPK Kim Jong Un set forth the task for concentrating efforts on the production of tactical nuclear warheads and increasing their quantity in an exponential way. In the last two years, the DPRK has developed and tested a variety of short-range missile carriers capable of carrying tactical payloads. Among them are 600mm super-large multiple rocket launchers, ballistic and cruise missiles to be launched under water and underwater drones. It is difficult to judge the existing productive capacity of the north Korean people, but it is very serious when considering that the leader of the DPRK does not make empty talk. The ambassador clarified Russia's stand on the issue of the north-south relations. The result of the south Korean "president's" visit to the U.S. brought a storm of anger to the DPRK, and the DPRK regards it as an agreement on the plans for attack on the DPRK, including the plan for using nuclear weapons, he said. As a neighbor of the DPRK, Russia sincerely hopes that the north and the south of Korea would settle all the existing difficulties independently on the principle of national unity without any outside interference, the ambassador added. www.kcna.kp (Juche112.6.1.) |

2023.06.02 10:52 webuyequipment Safety Tips for Heavy Construction Equipment Equipment Planet Equipment
![]() | What are the safety tips for heavy construction equipment? Almost every building job necessitates the use of heavy machinery. Unfortunately, if not utilized appropriately, they can be exceedingly harmful. When operating on or around heavy machinery, workers are frequently wounded by rollovers, accidents, and being stuck in or between mishaps. submitted by webuyequipment to equipmentbuyandsell [link] [comments] To stay productive and maintain an accident-free jobsite, use these safety recommendations when working with heavy equipment on the construction site:Training for Equipment OperatorsWorkers should be instructed on how to safely use all of the equipment they will be working with. Classroom and practical hands-on learning should be used to perform training. Safety, hazard detection, equipment safety features, and safe heavy equipment maneuvering are all topics that should be discussed.Workers should be taught how to mount and uninstall equipment safely, as well as how to start it up properly. They should be aware of the lifting loads and load capabilities of the equipment they will be working with. Retraining and refresher courses should be conducted as needed, especially if a worker is seen using equipment in a hazardous or non-functional manner. For any reason, only trained individuals should be authorized to operate equipment. https://preview.redd.it/ms2pweofjk3b1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=3165de5807f1b6880a3a9e204a801077036728ad Be Aware of Your EnvironmentWhen operating heavy equipment, you must be aware of the area you are working in as well as any potential obstructions. Overhead electrical lines should be deenergized, or if that isn’t practicable, barriers should be put up to prevent contact. If you’re excavating, ensure sure any underground facilities, such as sewer, water, gas, and electricity, are identified and clearly marked to avoid harming them and causing delays and additional labor.Workers should be kept out of locations where heavy machinery is in use whenever possible. To avoid hitting other workers, onlookers, or other vehicles or equipment in the area, operators should be conscious of their swing radius, especially when working in tighter places. Equipment for Entering and ExitingThis should go without saying, but there is a correct and wrong method to mount and remove heavy equipment, depending on the amount of accidents workers sustain each year. Maintain three points of contact when climbing onto equipment, just as you would when ascending a ladder. When entering or exiting the cab, never carry anything with you. To exit, never jump out of the cab or off the equipment.Entering or exiting machinery that is moving or in use is never a good idea. Make that the equipment is totally turned off, the parking brake is engaged, and any hydraulic pressure is released. To avoid any illegal use, make sure you take the keys with you. Before using the equipment, inspect it.Before each usage, visually inspect heavy equipment to ensure it is in good working order. Check for wear and damage on the tires and tracks. Before starting up the equipment for the first time each day, you should at the very least check fluid levels such as engine oil and hydraulic fluid and oil levels. Check for cracks and deterioration in hydraulic hoses, buckets, booms, and other components. Ensure that all attachments are securely fastened. When the equipment is turned on, double-check that the lights, gauges, horn, and backup alarms are all operational. Ensure that all arms, shovels, buckets, and other tools are fully extended in all directions. Check to see if the cab can spin in all directions if it does. Never use equipment that isn’t in good operating order or appears to have been damaged. Not only may you end up causing more harm to the machine, but it could also pose a serious safety risk if not addressed before usage. Only use the equipment for its intended purpose. Each piece of equipment was created with a specific purpose in mind. Excavators are not cranes, and wheel loaders were not designed to transport workers in the bucket and serve as an aerial lift. Select the appropriate piece of equipment for the job at hand and utilize it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.Do not overwork or overload your equipment. Keep in mind the equipment’s payload or lift capacity. If what you have isn’t enough to complete the task, you may need to purchase a larger piece of equipment. If you’re lifting something, make sure all of the riggings are in place. When operating machinery, especially on slopes, don’t try to move too fast. https://preview.redd.it/2kt6rwahjk3b1.png?width=980&format=png&auto=webp&s=d368e501234db9fbf94f00f7b58cde7fc759a53e Put your seatbelt on.Seatbelts aren’t simply for show; they could save your life. The seatbelt will most likely keep you alive if the equipment starts to tilt or roll over. You may feel prompted to leap out of the cab if the equipment begins to tip or roll over. Regrettably, that is the absolute worst thing you could do. The equipment could topple over and fall on you as you try to flee, or you could be trapped or propelled out as it rolls over, gravely injuring yourself. The equipment’s rollover safety mechanism is designed to keep you safe in the event of a rollover. The seatbelt will safeguard you from being thrown out of the cab or getting beaten up. Maintain a Clear SpaceTo avoid workers from mistakenly going too close to operating equipment, you should fence off the area with barriers. If you’re moving or operating equipment near workers, engage a spotter and communicate with them by radio or hand signals to keep your blind areas clean. When backing up, this is extremely critical. Yes, the equipment will have backup alarms, but because they are so common on construction sites, they are frequently ignored.Other Things to Keep in MindWear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, strong boots, and hard hats at all times.Make sure you’re loading and unloading equipment on level ground to minimize rollovers when getting it on or off the truck or trailer. When servicing or doing maintenance on equipment, use lock-out/tag-out processes. Use chocks to block the wheels and make sure the parking brakes are engaged. Working with or around heavy machinery should be included in your overall safety plan. The dangers and hazards of working with heavy machinery should be taught to all employees. |
