Complete Abstract

Importance Persistent depressive symptoms, often accompanied by cognitive symptoms, commonly occur after COVID-19 illness (hereinafter termed COVID-DC, DC for depressive and/or cognitive symptoms). In patients with COVID-DC, gliosis, an inflammatory change, was suspected, but measurements of gliosis had not been studied in the brain for this condition.
Objective To determine whether translocator protein total distribution volume (TSPO VT), a marker of gliosis that is quantifiable with positron emission tomography (PET), is elevated in the dorsal putamen, ventral striatum, prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, and hippocampus of persons with COVID-DC.
Design, Setting, and Participants This case-control study conducted at a tertiary care psychiatric hospital in Canada from April 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, compared TSPO VT of specific brain regions in 20 participants with COVID-DC with that in 20 healthy controls. The TSPO VT was measured with fluorine F 18–labeled N-(2-(2-fluoroethoxy)benzyl)-N-(4-phenoxypyridin-3-yl)acetamide ([18F]FEPPA) PET.
Main Outcomes and Measures The TSPO VT was measured in the dorsal putamen, ventral striatum, prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, and hippocampus. Symptoms were measured with neuropsychological and psychological tests, prioritizing outcomes related to striatal function.
Results The study population included 40 participants (mean [SD] age, 32.9 [12.3] years). The TSPO VT across the regions of interest was greater in persons with COVID-DC (mean [SD] age, 32.7 [11.4] years; 12 [60%] women) compared with healthy control participants (mean [SD] age, 33.3 [13.9] years; 11 [55%] women): mean (SD) difference, 1.51 (4.47); 95% CI, 0.04-2.98; 1.51 divided by 9.20 (17%). The difference was most prominent in the ventral striatum (mean [SD] difference, 1.97 [4.88]; 95% CI, 0.36-3.58; 1.97 divided by 8.87 [22%]) and dorsal putamen (mean difference, 1.70 [4.25]; 95% CI, 0.34-3.06; 1.70 divided by 8.37 [20%]). Motor speed on the finger-tapping test negatively correlated with dorsal putamen TSPO VT (r, −0.53; 95% CI, −0.79 to −0.09), and the 10 persons with the slowest speed among those with COVID-DC had higher dorsal putamen TSPO VT than healthy persons by 2.3 (2.30 divided by 8.37 [27%]; SD, 2.46; 95% CI, 0.92-3.68).
Conclusions and Relevance In this case-control study, TSPO VT was higher in patients with COVID-DC. Greater TSPO VT is evidence for an inflammatory change of elevated gliosis in the brain of an individual with COVID-DC. Gliosis may be consequent to inflammation, injury, or both, particularly in the ventral striatum and dorsal putamen, which may explain some persistent depressive and cognitive symptoms, including slowed motor speed, low motivation or energy, and anhedonia, after initially mild to moderate COVID-19 illness.

I placed an order for a Kia Cerato/Forte GT (I’m ordering from Australia) back in November of 2022, and was fully aware of the delays that I was reading online (average for a Cerato GT then and now is still sitting around 198 days). Now I knew I was going to have to wait (given the global situation with chip shortages, COVID isolations and work force problems) however is 325 days normal at this point? Trying to see online to see if anyone else is in the same boat with delays and wait times.

I had gastric bypass in April 2022. Lost a bunch of weight, woohoo!
Now I’m in the middle of training for a marathon and I’m struggling. I can hit around 15 miles and that’s it. I think the problem is from a lack of calories. I try my best to keep up with gu during the run but I think it’s not cutting it. Does anyone have experience with longer distance/endurance training after WLS?

March 23, 2023 - Five people arrested on various charges in Northwest Arkansas

Jason Worley, 38, of 5 Shepton Lane in Bella Vista, was arrested Tuesday in connection with sexual assault, sexual indecency with a child, delivery of a controlled substance and internet stalking of a child. Worley was being held Wednesday in the Benton County Jail with no bond set.

April 5, 2023 - Bella Vista couple accused of sex crimes and providing drugs and alcohol to girls

Jason Worley, 38, was arrested in connection with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual indecency with a child, internet stalking of a child, two felony counts of delivery of a controlled substance, four counts of misdemeanor delivery of a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of endangering welfare of a minor, four counts of contributing to delinquency of a minor and four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

JasonInHell was born in 1985 apparently, so the age of 38 matches as does the name. The pictures do look like him, but the man arrested has a lot more head and facial hair making it hard to tell for certain. The height, weight, and skin color match as does eye color it seems. The crimes committed by this person seem to be in a different location too, but that is not irregular as it has been a couple years now. He was married to a Jennifer Worley who was also arrested in connection with similar charges
I really hope this is not the same person because if so it would make for a harsh update on this story. I have been searching around trying to verify, but the guy understandably nuked the original post/account as well as the update.

This is a place for Reddit users to submit their scores for the official Daily Challenge (hopefully) without the results being tarnished by cheaters. This should be played as a [2] -- zooming/rotating, moving allowed but external assistance is prohibited. Feel free to leave any walkthroughs in your comments, concealed with a spoiler tag.
A bot will keep a leaderboard for the month. You'll notice two columns related to your scoring performance. The first of these columns is labeled Average and represents your average score among all games throughout the month. The second column is labeled Score and represents either: 1. The average of your top 15 performances, or 2. Your average score divided by 15 (if you have played less than 15 games). The leaderboard is sorted by Score. At the end of the month, the highest Score will be declared the winner, and the leaderboard will reset for the next month.
Why do we keep score this way? There were 3 potential options for scorekeeping:

1. Straight Average -- flawed because a player who only plays once but scores 25000 would likely win for the month.
2. Cumulative Total -- flawed because it unfairly favors those who are able to play every and is a severe disadvantage to those who miss even a single day.
3. Score of top 15 -- the method currently in use, it allows for some leeway for those not able to play daily, but at the same time, it's beneficial to those who are able to play more than 15 times. After 15 plays, each new score will bump out the previous lowest score.

The Daily Challenge resets at midnight UTC, which coincides with the time that this post will go live each day. So essentially, make sure that you're commenting your score with its corresponding post.

Colombia's invasive hippo population is even larger than researchers had thought, according to the most thorough census of the animals conducted yet.
Scientists were already concerned about the hippos - considered the largest invasive animal in the world - threatening native plants and animals in the country, and had been calling for drastic measures to reduce the population.
Comprising researchers at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, the Humboldt Institute and Cornare, an environmental body managing an area where the hippos live, the team made various trips in 2021 and 2022 by car, boat and on foot to count the hippos.
With serious attacks on humans in 2020 and 2021, and a car crash leaving a hippo dead on the highway in April, solutions are needed, scientists say.
The cost of killing the hippos must be weighed against that of losing native flora and fauna in Colombia - the second-most biodiverse country in the world - they add.
Nature asked the environment ministry how it would manage the growing hippo population, given the new findings, but it did not comment.
